Thanks Jo for the link to NBG. I missed the whole thing .. darn! I'll be watching for the video from NBG (I hope they will show one).
Listening to the chirping of a female goldfinch. Would rather listen to a wren, but they are all welcome at our feeders. The little bird with the big voice almost rented the birdhouse hanging on the porch. darn again!
AND.....WOO HOO I have FIVE BABY BLUEBIRDS in the nest box! They must have started hatching yesterday!!
Just took dogs for a walk out in the field and saw what I believe are Mayflies all over the place and what I think are Blue Grey Gnat Catchers having a field day scarfing them up! They didn't sit still long enough to get a real good look, but I'm pretty sure. And the wild Sweet William is blooming!
Golly Bob It is your birthday and you give US a gift! Lovely pictures. I think all employers should be required to give their employees their birthdays off! Hope your evening is Swell, and maybe we will see pictures of Birthday Cake Thursday!
Have been really busy studying for tonight's exam, and doing major housework.
Before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BOB QUINN!!! Hope it's a fantastic day for you! (BTW, love your tulip pictures!)
Gotta go get showered and changed--Sis-in-law probably dropping by before I go to school tonight, so need to do some damage control in the hair & makeup dept., too. Don't want to scare anyone!
Will be back after school to say goodnight. Have a good evening!
I know Wanda will enjoy reading about the Norfolk activities today, and sure she will enjoy the videos! Thinking of how her day and GG's day is going... (( hugs ♥♥ ))
Diann - the blue link is the actual video from NBG of the banding and placing of the transmitter Maybe they will put the other view (of the tree) up for you to see.
I was NOT at the Sheetz when the robbery took place! I was computing final course grades - honest. Just really unhappy I missed the NBG show this morning.
Don't want to forget: Happy Birthday, Bob.
I'll catch up with everything later. Really, really tired.
Gotta take mine to the vet in the morning, Boo needs all shots and Nugz need a kennel cough shot. I am going to board them next week when I head up to NJ....
Banding for the Pelican Harbor nest is tentatively set for the morning of May 27th, weather permitting. The plan is to leave Ventura on a Park Service boat at 6 am and skiff ashore. The Ventura County Office of Education is planning on having a live camera following the action on the ground, as we did in 2006 (or maybe 2007, I can't remember anymore).
Hi Paula, dogs are fine! I am shocked that no one has applied for Pearl yet except the one man who had cats and, well, she chases cats. Where do you board your dogs Paula?
BREAKING NEWS....Steve and I just went out for a nice walk around the grounds and we saw 2 LIGHTNING BUGS!!!! I can't believe it! This spring has been crazy....they are a full 3 - 4 weeks early!!
I have to board Pearl, we have taken her back to the kennel that the rescue uses but I am not that crazy about it. Pearl is just too much with Daisy at my MIL's house with all the painting and work we are doing. But my MIL's husband LOVES her! And so does MY husband, and uh oh.....he's hinting about keeping her!
We've been twice and are heading up again this coming weekend. So much to be done....as you well know! Still hoping to hit the lottery so we can keep the house for our "summer" home and Ma can move to a more moderate winter climate! It's just so beautiful up there!
Hello eagle dudettes and dudes! Back in the same day, as my mom always says. Nice concert...considering fact that the 6th graders basically had no musical training before school started in Aug.!
Need to play catch up---surprised that we never got a new thread today.
Oh good grief! I just stopped by to say goodnight only to find out that Lynne is stepping out with Steve. Sheetz, no wonder we don't have a Wednesday thread. Is there no shame to their game?
Wanda, nice to know the funeral went well and so touched about GG's farewell. I wish a restful night for GG, you and the Capt.
Hmmm -- seems Pearl may have a new home. Way cool.
Lynn and Jo, hope you had fun with the gd's
Need to go back and really catch up. Will be at the school house tomorrow. Already receiving email whining about grades = automatic deletes.
So very tired. Turning my light out but will leave the night light on for others. Andy, hope you test was 100% as usual. If you're not too tired, please set our alarm.
I'll be back soon. Did check Palmer -- sleeping, it seems. Not a bad idea. Goodnight everyone.
In answer to Paula's question, GG did very well at the funeral today. She has much difficulty walking, but there were plenty friends and relatives to help her along her way. She looked fabulous. I'd like to think it is the meals she has been eating. I sit with her and talk and she just eats everything I put in front of her. I give her one course at a time and that seems to be doing the trick...she doesn't feel overwhelmed with a big plate of food. Some more photos on WANDA'S WISHES.
Oh what a day! But, I want all of you to hurry on over. The house is spic and span! Hurry! I just ignore it in the spring. I would much rather be outside. With the house open the pollen had collected. lol
I did get out for a short while and did a little work. Then I watched AIn while continuing to do some clean up chores.
Lily swam across a bay today! Of course, they assume that she stashed Hope someplace for safe-keeping while she was gone......tho' there has beenprevious sighting of a bear swimming w/ 2 cubs holding on, so who knows???? My question is: how do you keep a rambunctious cub to stay in one place while mom goes for a swim??
Wanda, bless GG. Loosing your sister must be rough.
My sister and hubby, Sharon and Dan, will be here tomorrow. They are not staying here as they will be in their RV. Sat Dan "graduates" from TCU, again!! He graduated 50 years ago. He and several friends he went to high school with and then TCU are walking the stage again..50 years later. TCU honors 50 year graduates that way. We are going out to eat tomorrow. Then a banquet at TCU Friday, then graduation Saturday morning. Then everyone, 8 of us, are coming here for barbeque. Saturday night all the kids will be here to see Dan and Sharon. Sooo...I am going to be very busy for the next few days.
Oh, and Friday morning I have to get up very early and drive to Denton. At Jacob's school they are having their Mother's Day reception. Laurel can not go, therefore I need to go. Can not have our little boy alone while all the others have their mommies there.
Goodnight, dear friends. I will talk to you all tomorrow! A bit chillier tonight here, so hope everyone is snug! Prayers. Oh, BTW-----Norma's email came back.....mailbox FULL!!!!
So Sorry to hear that about Norma's emails. I watched some TV this evening - checked all the critter's cams. Wanda - grateful to hear that GG is doing well through all these recent events. ((hugs to GG, Wanda & Gene)
Hi, Everyone, I just got home from school. Thank you for all the prayers on my behalf--I got an A on tonight's test! Thank God! Next week is the final exam--this semester has gone very quickly! (Not quickly enough for Judie and Shirley, though, I bet!)
Omigosh! Had ANOTHER new bird here today! A male Black-Headed Grosbeak!!! He was too quick for me, so was unable to get a picture. Will try again tomorrow. Surprised to hear that there are some lightning bugs back there--love them! Had a mourning cloak butterfly playing tag with the sparrows and finches today instead.
Dana, forgive my manners--want to congratulate you on being a great aunt again! That's wonderful!
Lynne, that Pearl is such a rascal, capturing your hearts as she has! Wouldn't be surprised if you decide to keep her!
Wanda, I'm sure I would've lost it, too, at GG's farewell to her sister. Glad everyone made it through OK. You all were in my prayers today! Glad GG is eating so well--I'm sure it makes a big difference.
Need to go back and watch the NBG banding. Missed seeing it live--had to study instead.
Think I'll say goodnight now, and maybe check in later if I can't get to sleep. Prayers being said for everyone. Sorry to hear that Chrissy's e-mail is disabled. Hope we hear from her soon--somehow! Still ultra concerned for her and her family! (((HUGS)))!
The night light is on, the porch light is automatic, and the eye scanner security is enabled. Praying that we all sleep well and get completely restored overnight! Will talk to you in the morning. God bless, and good night! Love you guys! :o]
Hi, Wanda! I wish! Have 1 year to go in school, unless I can take more of a class load, but have to study pretty hard now, so probably shouldn't push it. Have been back to school for almost exactly a year now.
Wow, hope we hear from Norma here soon! Miss her sunshine!
Palmer is getting so big ! According to the comments in the Newspaper article, two weeks ago Palmer was the size of a chicken! Approaching Turkey size by now I guess
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... It is 62° here in Nestville and overcast, just a bit of wind to make it feel cold. Going up to 79° which is just about the way I like it:) My grass needs to be mowed, badly! I miss Dustin doing that deed for me. He had gotten a few neighbors asking him to do their lawns this Summer and that was keeping him too busy to come visit with me:( I miss his help and his company. Now, with his sprained ankle, he's not able to mow and make extra money. I hope that, in two weeks, when he is healed, his neighbors will allow him to continue.
Oh, my, slow today! Just getting on to say good morning before I head out the door to mow. Headed up to the low 90's today. First time for this spring. Tomorrow high in the 80's and then back to a high in the 70's. I can live with that!!
I am up/running!!!!! Packing up some things for a few days in DE opening the summer home. We are probably crazy but Scar and Marvin (our cats) are going with us. I hope they survive.. & easier then getting one or two of the kids to care for them.
Palmer is snoozing at 3:00 The Lady Loon is still on the nest and hopes of the 2nd egg are high. Cam down right now at NBG - can't see the little rebels.
Jo, dear lady, glad I caught you before you left. Have a wonderful drive and enjoy, enjoy, your stay. Stay all Summer! You deserve some relaxing solitude:) Love you♥
Jack Hanna had some lovely animals on Letterman last night. A white bison baby, a vulture with a multi-colored head, a pileated woodpecker---never knew they had 6-inch tongues!---and a huge cat that I thought at first was a clouded leopard, but it wasn't. This morning he was back at the Columbus Zoo for the opening of the polar bear exhibit. There is actually a room UNDER the tank where you can view the bear from below. Really cool. DID YOU KNOW....there are just over 200 zoos in the US and they had almost 400 million visitors last year. Isn't that amazing??
Happy Thursday Everyone! Palmer looked so quiet & sleepy & finally put head down for a nap. Jo, have a great time in DE!!! Would love to go somewhere, anywhere!!!Daughter is coming to town in a couple, so we will do field trips before her business mtgs. starting TU in Baltimore! Hope she can go to Harbor.I hope I can see the new jellyfish exhibit if there's time. Is Ceil going to be there??? ☺ Needless to say, I will continue to shovel the house!! BBL
Hi, Loretta! Sure that Ceil will be in Baltimore...but not at the aquarium....she is in training on Sats. Think she said in answer to your post a few days ago that she could still hook up with you, tho'. Send her an email!!

We are all watching NBG - 1st eaglet is headed up to the nest....
Up comes a bag
bag in the nest.
I'd love to see a close up about now.
Maybe they will take the eaglets hoods off after all 3 are up in the nest.
You know - take off the hoods and then hurry down out of the tree.....
Thank You ( :
Nice close up ask and you shall receive tee hee
I thought that Dr Watts was the older gentleman down on the ground at the banding... I guess not
Jo is there another site to see banding on ground?
Guess not because that gentleman is still on the ground camera
great job by everyone at NBG eagle cam
All three back in nest I think
Jo the guy with the beard and glasses is Dr. Reese Lukei
last eaglet going back home now..
Yes, Dana there was but everything has cleared from that area as all 3 are up to the nest. There was a link on the cam page....
The nest cam is where the action is now
ground cam is going off. Final eaglet is returning
by Norfolk Botanical Garden at 2:28 PM
NO last one coming up I guess
Yep there it is
Lifting out of bag
ground cam is going off. Final eaglet is returning
Audio off and ground camera out.
It's a done deal except for Nate and Dr Watts to come down out of the tree and to see the Adult eagles return to check it all out!
Last one out of the bag is a transmitting eaglet.
by Norfolk Botanical Garden at 2:32 PM
Still ca n't get tree cam back up. Going to try on FF.
that was just awesome, thanks to Dr Steve Living for the live feed and audio commentating
Nate looks different here to me. Maybe just these darn eyes.
Wouldn't you sometimes just love to have Nate's job?
Come on guys!
Just Jump! or
Fly like an eagle.......
Wow! What a morning.... click here
to say it all
This has been a great morning. Love the song Jo (:
Well, couldn't get it on FF, either......guess too many viewers. Back up now on IE, and climbers are descending, so I missed the placement. Boo!!!
A rope is still attached to the tree...Mits, Jo, Hedgie anyone for a climb. Just kidding. Close up of eaglets.
I am amazed at how calm the eaglets were!!!! Now they are discussing what just happened to them and trying to figure out what that is on the one's back!! "What did they do to you???"
Thanks for video, Jo, That was perfect!
Now I can get busy! Cleaning house today. Major cleaning...company coming.
Have a great day!
Well that answered my thoughts because I didn't see them remove any hoods.
The Loon - each time she gets off the egg she like covers it . There really is an egg in that nest.
"I'm special they gave me a package to carry for them".
NBG eagles breezed through that event. The camaera is reset on the eagles. They probably wonder what just happened?
It will be interesting to see when an adult returns.
Finally see the egg on the loon nest. What a treat! NO?
Watching eagles, loons, bears, and etc. is a busy job. It's hard to keep up with you.
Just talked to Norma. She lost her blog/cam sites....hope I have her back on track! We shall soon find out, I hope! She gave me what she thought was her email address, so I sent a test message....MTBR!
A little lifting of wings but still not much activity.
Dana, don't confuse Nate with Nu!!!
Pardon me.
Hello and good early afternoon to all.
OK. Well I thought I saw a loon egg. If it's covered, I guess I did not.
BEagle it will be good to see the adult eagles return to the nest to check thinks out.
I hadn't realized the hoods were taken off before they went up to the nest.
I am headed for my Street clothes and
a trip out.... I'll check back in when I return......
BBILW
Palmer all alone
They are moving camera around. Looking to see if they see parents.
Palmer is up and about. Soft feathers ruffling in the wind. Close to the cam and showing off those feet. The feet are in the shade.
Scratching away underneath it all.
Gotta get stuff done here!!! HAve Jenn's band concert this evening.
Still haven't seen loon egg....where did she hide it?? Wind is terrible there---at least sound-wise!
I did I did Hedgie-Lynn
Hedgie - Thank you so much for contacting Norma and I sure hope she can pop in here. Sorry she missed NBG but hope a video will be put on that site.
Now - BBILW
Palmer just returned to prime spot at 12.
Loon on the nest again.
Will look for egg.
Gosh. Loons are pretty.
Bank robbery in Shepherdstown.....massive police presence.....stay clear of west end! Hope that isn't where Jo was headed.
Nope! I'm headed to Jefferson MD
Wonder if it is down by Sheetz - the BB&T
Be careful out there.
What I thought was the egg previously was actually it. Just now saw the mom get on the nest and roll the egg under.
I think so, Jo.
GOOD NEWS (hopefully)...Carolyn goes in for testing for the 911 job next Weds. afternoon!!! Please keep fingers crossed and say prayers. These kids need a break so desperately.

Palmer is still in the same position. Hasn't moved much in the past couple hours.
The Sidney 'let is alone. It fun to see two small local birds on the nest stealing fluff and feathers for their nests.
The nbg camera has zoomed in. The eagles are doing their normal resting.
Don't know if an adult has stopped by.
The nbg blog says that the adults are flying around the nest. Past experience deems a few hours before the adults come back in.
The Hornby adults seems a little agitated with all the machine noise around them.
The eagle with the transmitter looks like it has a stick stuck in it's back feathers.
The OK nest watchers are saddened by the mishap on the Sooner nest. There was a picture posted of the chick called "Trouble" on the Maine Forum a day or two before the incident.
There is always next year for the eagles.
And a vulture ate the remaining egg on the OK nest.
I see the loon egg! Sure doesn't look as pretty as last year! Maybe just the distance and lighting....
Poor OK parents.
Sounds like OR may get more snow....gotta go look.
Yep....she's sitting on a pile of the white stuff. Brrrr.
It's hard to watch the OR nest anymore.
It's been snowing all day on the nest.
Nature takes its course, doesn't it.
Thank you all for the birthday greetings (here and in emails/ecards). Beautiful day today, wish I was outside with my camera instead of my office.
Haven't taken any photos in a while. Last ones were of a tulip in the front yard after it rained:

Hi friends. How is our Palmer today?
Hi Thelma
Palmer is biding time..... Eat, sleep and grow some more feathers! I would say Palmer is doing very well.
Lady Loon laid a lovely egg.
Should be another one coming.
Watched all morning the banding and placing of a transmitter on the eaglet at NBG. Very interesting. There is a video link in blue up above.
Evening, all!
I got to peek in and watch about 10 minutes of the banding and transmitter fitting today at NBG, pretty cool!
Interesting about the tail patterns. I remember we could remember our last batch of 3, Pearl, Middy and Tiny by their tail feathers.
Palmer laying in the nest at 12
Happy Birthday, Bob!!!
How are the doggies, Lynne?
Hope you had a nice dinner, Jo.

Parent up into tree, nope off to right
Just landed in tree

GOOD EVENING ALL...
I'm so happy to see that the loons now have an egg and Finny too. Those are two of my favorite nests:)
Lightening Bugs? Wow, Lynn, that is early. Hope we don't get a frost and freeze their little flashing butts off:)
Sorry...that would be, LynnE.
I know how you feel, Jo;)
I'm ready to settle down and watch American Idol.
So good to be home!
Funeral went well...I sort of lost it when GG put her cheek on Aunt Frances'. Two ladies that I loved so much, together one last time♥
Oh Wanda, so heartbreaking.
Lynne, I don't board them very often, but when I do, they are at my vets.
Usually, John will take care of them, but he's going with me :)
oh Wanda, that brought a tear to my eye when I read it. I sure hope GG is OK.
Yes, lightning bugs...unbelievable! Wish I could have gotten a picture! I can't wait to hear if anyone else sees any this early!
Yes, very early for lightening bugs.
How did GG do today, Wanda? Was she OK?
I have to board Pearl, we have taken her back to the kennel that the rescue uses but I am not that crazy about it. I miss being on here and I miss watching the cams, but I have so much to do.
Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Hi, Everyone,
I just got home from school.
It sure would be nice to have MISS "NORMA" SUNSHINE back on here to brighten up our mornings! New computer for Norma, whoever wins the lottery first;)
GOOD NIGHT FRIENDS
SLEEP WELL
PRAYERS FOR ALL
ANDREA, will you be finished with your schooling after this semester?
Back the hallway I go
Good Night All
Prayers for All
((hugs for All) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Hi, Wanda!
I wish! Have 1 year to go in school, unless I can take more of a class load, but have to study pretty hard now, so probably shouldn't push it. Have been back to school for almost exactly a year now.
Wow, hope we hear from Norma here soon! Miss her sunshine!
Well, g'night, all! :o]
Good night all and blessings around, especially for GG. It's very hard to lose a sister - I know. Wanda & Gene you are good caretakers. (((hugs)))
Hope to see everyone tomorrow on here.
love

Palmer is getting so big !
According to the comments in the Newspaper article, two weeks ago Palmer was the size of a chicken!
Approaching Turkey size by now I guess
Thanks for the Loon Link, Jo, that was great.
Glad things went well, Wanda,
nice pictures
Good Morning Eagle Pals
Best wishes for a good day for everyone
good to read of the happy things here
It's past my bedtime
Good Night

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is 62° here in Nestville and overcast, just a bit of wind to make it feel cold. Going up to 79° which is just about the way I like it:)
My grass needs to be mowed, badly!
Good night, Margy...sweet dreams:)
Oh, my, slow today! Just getting on to say good morning before I head out the door to mow. Headed up to the low 90's today. First time for this spring. Tomorrow high in the 80's and then back to a high in the 70's. I can live with that!!
Have a great day!
I am up/running!!!!! Packing up some things for a few days in DE opening the summer home. We are probably crazy but Scar and Marvin (our cats) are going with us. I hope they survive.. & easier then getting one or two of the kids to care for them.
Palmer is snoozing at 3:00
The Lady Loon is still on the nest and hopes of the 2nd egg are high.
Cam down right now at NBG - can't see the little rebels.
We have a computer at the house but it is dial up...... Hubby taking laptop so maybe we can catch on to something
in the air! lol
Not sure how many days but sure will try to contact you ..........
Jo, dear lady, glad I caught you before you left.
Have a wonderful drive and enjoy, enjoy, your stay. Stay all Summer!
You deserve some relaxing solitude:)
Love you♥
Morning all!
Jo, you lucky duck....enjoy your time at the shore! Hope the weather is perfect for you. Hope you can get a connection to stay in touch!
Mits, were you at the zoo yesterday? Have you decided when you are going to O.C.?

WOW! Noah is sitting outside of the hack tower. She looks beautiful!
FREEDOM - will she take it?
Wanda - I can't stand too much solitude
lol
Lynn - I'll stay in touch somehow..
Palmer sure looks BIG today!!
Needless to say, I will continue to shovel the house!! BBL
Wow!! I just discovered a way to fix typos. (I do a lot of them)Copied & pasted comment & it lets you edit!!! then can get rid of the messy one.
Hi, Loretta! Sure that Ceil will be in Baltimore...but not at the aquarium....she is in training on Sats. Think she said in answer to your post a few days ago that she could still hook up with you, tho'. Send her an email!!
Come on over to the NEW THREAD
