2 new videos from Catalina Island - Two Harbors nest. First one shows mating from yesterday. Second one is K82 laying her first egg! Just click on my name, or go to
I think it was yesterday at BW when snapping pics. I ask Lisa about one of them. Had 2 immature eagles at BW. She said it is unual to have two at same time.
The darker ones this morning I said are they around 1 & 2 yrs old. She said very young.
Good Eagle Egg Morning I see that juvie and adult at osprey nest in BW. I promised myself I would sign on and then go read the comments, read the emails and go nest surfing. I checked our cam (WONDERFUL) and also BW remarks in case the chick was already there. I hope someone will figure out with our 3rd egg on the 12th just when we should get excited about our chicks possibly hatching......... Thanks Steve for the new thread and if you are at work - take it slow on the first day of return Here's hoping that Suzanne is smiling better today!!
Thank you Dana! I just calculated OUR eggs hatching somewhere during the week of March 11. What do you other Momsters think? I need to VOTE on the poll if I'm not too late to cast my vote.
Thanks Paula - I hope it stays up all day long! Since Dana said we should look at the Channel Is.eagles - here is a treat for all of you. Paula has an excellent video that is worth viewing in order to share the excitement of yesterday at thnest:
WE and TH cams are down. They are checking on them. They are going to exchange the eggs at the WE nest today. Don't know if we will get to see it w/ the cams down.
I was thinking about Megan this a.m., she had that excellent photo of Frosty Belle on Sunday a.m. Paula enjoyed the video at TH yesterday. What's nice about your site is when you go to "you-tube", you can't get off because there are so many other videos there.
Mits, They were talking on the CHIL forum about not wasting bandwith...you know, just bringing it up and leaving it on and not watching it....walking away for hours, that sort if thing. If you want to capture pictures, use the 5 second or 20 second cam, works just like ours to save a picture :)
Also when you put BW next to NCTC cam there is no contest. The CC cam 1 is not on because the cam didn't work and they sent it back....what a concept..sending something back when it doesn't work.
The juvie must be glued to the BW osprey nest. Hasn't moved and the cam is not frozen I don't think.... I keep checking for new comments from Lisa..........
GOing over to emails to get the pics from you, Mits, and load onto Momsters'.
If thnest or wenest videos come up-Shoot me an email...... Really want to see who is in the nest at Two Harbors.......See if Dad knows the good news yet......
Juvie all gone at osprey....BTW, you will not get to see this kind of interaction with any of the other panda cams like you are seeing at the NATIONAL ZOO, thanks to cam voulunteers...no other panda cams have them.
Well hello- glad to see our cam is up and the sun is shining. Guess I have to go vote on hatching date for the egss, too. Thought for sure there was gonna be a hatching in the BW nest this morning, she sure was looking under her and moving around a lot early this am. Hope that was the last snow storm of the season, tired of shoveling ice and snow. Bet those eagles are tired of sitting in it too. Daughter was sick all wknd, Monday diagnosed with strep, been home since then, feeling somewhat better today. Of course, nurse mom diagnosed with strep this am, feeling horrible.
Talk about Motherhood, Megan. I am so sorry to hear that it is running through your family - get your hubby checked! I too hope that was the last snow of the winter. This sunshine feels soooooooooo good.
Oh, the sun feels wonderful today! Just one of those things, daughter picked it up at school, caught it myself taking care of her. Hubby has been worked long days this week, and hasn't been around us as much. So far he's not complaining about his throat. She's not contagious anymore, but I still am. The thing is, my personal nurse never showed up,LOL have to make my own soup...
Yep! Those personal nurses are never there when you need them the most! Amazing what we mother's can do for ourselves as well as the rest of the family........... lol
For sure there is an egg at TH - Dad came in and took over while Mom took off. Around 3:00 our time, Dr Sharpe should be at WE to switch the eggs. Video may be on and I so want to see it happening.
Dr Sharpe should soon be arriving at WE... They have their eagle eyes on something or someone right now I hope you get a good video of it all. Just can't imagine how he will do it because those 2 have it covered in both directions! He sure can't sneak up behind either one.
Hi Mits The forum is thinking that TWnest has 2 eggs. I'm thinking that it is too soon for the 2nd egg to have been laid. What do you think Most of the time the 2nd egg doesn't come until about 2 days after the 1st.
She's right in the middle of the nest...only can see her head....I also thought it would be kinda quick for a 2nd egg at TH already, but our resident expert Paula would probably know.
We were just discussing that on the CHIL forum. I don't think there would be 2 this soon, either. It is usually 2-4 days. But she could've popped one out this morning when the cams were down. There is a video of it, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet. Going to go look at Maine. :)
Jim, Look up a couple of posts. I got the video of the exchange. It is on youtube. They took out 5 and put 2 in. The two females have been on them all afternoon :)
See, I told you so. It is hard to see an eagle on the ME cam. Paula, I did watch the video that they thought they saw the 2nd egg at thnest, but I am going to say I didn't think so. Let us know what you think when you watch it.
She came into the nest around 7 and was high up, then she sat on the side for about an hour and now it is hard to see because she is so low in the nest, but every now and then you get a glimpse of her eyes.
Thanks, Paula. I did find that video, and it is great (reminds me of old silent films with the jerking)...very interesting.
I wondered about the number of dummies, but now that I recall some nature programs on TV, the scientists don't worry, because animals can't count, they don't know there are not the same number. Guess if you didn't leave any, they would know the difference.
I wonder if the three of them could have raised 5 chicks (forget the DDT for the moment)...
Momsters, I watched Mama NE lay her egg today! It was marvelous to watch! She was squawking and then she stood up and bingo there the egg was and of course Dad was summoned to the scene. I think Glo even got it filmed. Undescribable to watch!
She was on the side, and it looked like she was doing some nestoration and then she went down in to the nest bowl around that time,,,,, sooooo exciting eggs everywhere, and before long eaglets.:):):)!
I wasn't quick enough Mits! Windy up there. Jim, If all five chicks had hatched that would have meant a lot of fishing by all 3 adults. There would not have been enough room on top of that rock for all of them!
They will place 1 or 2 chicks back in the nest. It depends upon how many eggs are fertile. Right now, they know that 2 are fertile, and the other 3 are too young to tell.
I think she (Wray?...that's the last name of a guy I've worked with for over 20 yrs.) looked like she was wondering what happened to the others several times. She definitely was suspicious of the changes for a while. But "all's well that ends well." Success.
Anybody know which female laid the 3 eggs?
I wonder how the scientists know when to let the eagles hatch their own (as at Santa Cruz last year) or if they must still be incubated.
He just flew out of Maine the lady (I believe) is working around the nest hole. Placing some grass you also brought in.6:24amEST Now 6:26am she just flew out of nest.
Suzanne yesterday we had so many immature eagles at the Osprey nest.
Some were dark enough that when I ask Lisa about maybe 1 or 2 yrs old. She said younger which made me think of Spunky, MsInBetween and Bigboy. Not saying it was them visiting Osprey nest.

I need to VOTE on the poll if I'm not too late to cast my vote.
Live Feed is up
Poor Tian-Tian is sitting in the cold pond.
Mits, the polls are still open.
I think hatching is going to start ....Wow, I had my thoughts on that when it happened, now I have to go look at the calendar again and vote!
Thanks for the heads-up on live feed, Paula.
I think the eggs will start hatching around March 15th, personally.
Bad Jo - deleted comment due to typo!
Thanks Paula - I hope it stays up all day long! Since Dana said we should look at the Channel Is.eagles - here is a treat for all of you. Paula has an excellent video that is worth viewing in order to share the excitement of yesterday at thnest:

Sorry, that was JO, yes the polls are still open!

Well, gee, was the live-feed up longer then 20 mins this time???? Hope they (NCTC) get ALL of this ironed out before hatching time.
Paula Is Eagle Guy actually Dr Sharpe?
Look at Kent!
Also eagle at NE...
I'm still surfing the nests....
I have to cast my vote for the
BEST CAM SITE IS KENT, WA
Mits,
They were talking on the CHIL forum about not wasting bandwith...you know, just bringing it up and leaving it on and not watching it....walking away for hours, that sort if thing. If you want to capture pictures, use the 5 second or 20 second cam, works just like ours to save a picture :)
Yes, Eagle Guy is Dr Sharpe.
Thanks, Paula:). I'll remember that. 2 were just in our nest, but I don't think it was a switch.
CO CAM --- Bottom half of eagle is visible.........
I like the VA cam when it is working for the up close view and the clarity of the feed.
Also when you put BW next to NCTC cam there is no contest. The CC cam 1 is not on because the cam didn't work and they sent it back....what a concept..sending something back when it doesn't work.
Must've been a "I'm checking in to see if you need a break" visit. :)
CC - adult & eaglet visible
Yeah, he didn't give a chance to say yes...:).
Haven't been able to get the NORFOLK cam up all week. Yet, their falcon cams are running well.
Been so busy with eagles that I just now tuned into Atlanta Panda. I think the Little Princess has found her most favorite place to take her naps.
LITTLE LOG LODGER
Where's Norma???
The juvie must be glued to the BW osprey nest. Hasn't moved and the cam is not frozen I don't think....
I keep checking for new comments from Lisa..........

help(?) ButaButa off of the top log.
LunLun actually caught her in her arms! Beautiful motherhood!
Talk about Motherhood, Megan. I am so sorry to hear that it is running through your family - get your hubby checked! I too hope that was the last snow of the winter. This sunshine feels soooooooooo good.

It's time for me to start moving around here. Lots to do if I can get my mind on it.
Tomorrow is March 1
Whoa! Can Spring be far away?
I'll be checking in as I pass by
Holler at me if any eggs hatch!
Egg turning
Take all your antibiotics, Megan. Love, Mom. :)
Thanks, Mom...
What is on the eagle?
Ok, probably just shadows.
I see that thnest and wenest now has videos - need to go read the forum comments to see is Dr Sharpe has switched the eggs yet.
For sure there is an egg at TH - Dad came in and took over while Mom took off. Around 3:00 our time, Dr Sharpe should be at WE to switch the eggs.
Video may be on and I so want to see it happening.
You got it, Jo. Just got back from lunch and errands and happy to see that WE cam up and looking good. (And an egg at TH, although you can't see it!)
Dr Sharpe should soon be arriving at WE... They have their eagle eyes on something or someone right now I hope you get a good video of it all.
Just can't imagine how he will do it because those 2 have it covered in both directions! He sure can't sneak up behind either one.
Mits is at the zoo..Wish she could see this..
Really did look like 5 eggs at WE.
4 in the nest and 1 off to the side.

HELLO!!! There looks like an egg at NE!!!!!
She was doing the eagle waddle over it.
Got so excited forgot to snap a picture again.
Both eagles at BW
A little snow, rain mix at KENT.
WEST END CAM is excellent, and the eagles are there...very nice pictures of the switch.

EAGLE IN MAINE NEST:):):)
EAGLE AT MAINE HAS MOVED OUT OF THE NEST BOWL.
Off to fix dinner...BBL.
EAGLE back in nest bowl at MAINE.
Hi Mits The forum is thinking that TWnest has 2 eggs. I'm thinking that it is too soon for the 2nd egg to have been laid. What do you think
Most of the time the 2nd egg doesn't come until about 2 days after the 1st.
What do you think?
It is very hard to pick out the eagle on the ME night cam....
For those of you interested - video of West End nest egg exchange -

"JMHO....but DR. SHARPE is real easy on the eyes:):):) "
Absolutely :)
She's right in the middle of the nest...only can see her head....I also thought it would be kinda quick for a 2nd egg at TH already, but our resident expert Paula would probably know.
Paula, I was wondering if anyone was going to pick up on my remark:):):).
Wow, an egg at NE. And I just heard about the eagles in Maine. Eagles, eagles everywhere!!!!
Momma in MAINE eyes are glowing.
We were just discussing that on the CHIL forum. I don't think there would be 2 this soon, either. It is usually 2-4 days. But she could've popped one out this morning when the cams were down. There is a video of it, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet. Going to go look at Maine. :)
Sounds like you had a lot of excitement today...
Did you see the whole egg snatching operation at West End??
Do they put the same number of dummy eggs into the nest as they remove?
Looks for sure that the Two Harbors pair have started a clutch...she's still there this afternoon, and I bet you have pics of an egg by now.
Happy egg sighting,
Jim
Is she facing the cam in Maine?
Jim,
Look up a couple of posts.
JMHO....but DR. SHARPE is real easy on the eyes:):):) Especially without the hat
She came into the nest around 7 and was high up, then she sat on the side for about an hour and now it is hard to see because she is so low in the nest, but every now and then you get a glimpse of her eyes.
She is dead center in the nest, only her white head is showing.
I only see one egg at TH in the video, but in someone's pictures from earlier, it does look like a possible two. So?????
Jo, everyone loves the Doctor's hat!
Jim
They think the eagle in Maine laid the egg at 8:53 tonight. Also, someone else mentioned the egg at NE.

SHE 'S UP ON THE BRANCH...
OMG. SHE JUST TOOK OGG IN THE DARK
THINK SHE WENT TO GET HUBBY.
she's back...........
Her back is to the cam
I wasn't quick enough Mits! Windy up there.
Jim, If all five chicks had hatched that would have meant a lot
of fishing by all 3 adults. There would not have been enough room on top of that rock for all of them!
However;how many chicks will be placed back in the wenest?
Vicky, I did already watch the video Glo has that captured the NE couple.
I never saw such a happy and excited pair of eagles!!!
Sitting face forward now.
Go back, Jo.
Thanks Mema Jo, I didn't realize she had the clip done for viewing already! It was sure a real treat.
look slike she is ready to take off again.
there she goes...
I SEE THE MAINE EAGLE
Looked right at me...
lots of calling in the dark.
If there is an egg she will be back....
I know you and Paula, thought I was losing it, Jo. Momma is close by in a branch.

This is the photo of the
5 WENEST EGGS
I don't see her back yet.
I believe you, Mits!
They will place 1 or 2 chicks back in the nest. It depends upon how many eggs are fertile. Right now, they know that 2 are fertile, and the other 3 are too young to tell.
I don't hear their chattering anymore either.
Loved Part 1, Paula, will watch Part 2 tomorrow.
Also, if other nests had infertile eggs, they will place a chick there. The chicks end up everywhere. They are monitoring 5 nests.
How cool is that, so we get to see chicks back at these nests:):).
Paula I have watched Part 1 & Part 2 - Fantastic day!!!
Mits I didn't want to ask you if that was an eagle up on the branch...it also looked like the leaves on the tree...Glad you mentioned the branch...lol
Well, heading off to bed..GOOD NIGHT ALL!
Yes, Jo it is hard to see thru the infra- red cam, but with the sounds and the live-feed, it is exciting to watch:).
PART 2???
I KIND OF LOOKED FOR THAT WHEN I SAW "PART 1" ON THE FIRST VIDEO, BUT I DIDN'T FIND IT.
INFO?
THANKS,

Good night, all!
Yes, Part 2 is great too.
Paula, what are the names of the three at WE?
I think she (Wray?...that's the last name of a guy I've worked with for over 20 yrs.) looked like she was wondering what happened to the others several times. She definitely was suspicious of the changes for a while. But "all's well that ends well." Success.
Anybody know which female laid the 3 eggs?
I wonder how the scientists know when to let the eagles hatch their own (as at Santa Cruz last year) or if they must still be incubated.
Jim
