Afternoon my eagle friends. Thank you Steven for New Thread.
Alls I remember is Megan said she throws her banana peel out for the Mockingbird, then said you can throw out over rippened bananas too. That Mockingbirds love them.
Liberty and Belle both where just at our nest. Liberty was on the nest I think I think it is Belle now.
We are near the I 81 corridor that is suppose to get the high winds and are we. Don't think our eagles are getting them; they are located more off the path. Happy for that ( :
My Lisa is still teaching us that gal is something. I love the time of the small hole in egg until the time it fights its way out wow not a short time. She has the most interesting information. Doesn't she?
Dana, not sure what you are seeing, their egg is white, and it was just laid the other day, I'm sure they will wait a few days to see if anymore are laid before they retrieve them, Paula is the expert on this site:):).
No, Dana. That is a real egg for now at WE nest...they have not switched them yet. They will wait a few more days to see if they get more eggs, then they will switch them. This is currently the only nest on Catalina w/ eggs.
Bob, Your pics are awesome as usual! Is that the eagles nest that is on the cam? Nice shots of the juvie eagle. He looks like he is only a year old. The heron pics are wonderful, too. Love those great blues.
I have returned and thanks for the new thread and for keeping OUR cam up & running. It was very windy when I drove home from Hagerstown. Now, before I make any comments I wish to go over and see BOB QUINN's photos. Do you think he would like to take a trip to WV???? I wish!
No, that nest is is just off the wildlife drive past the blind not too far from the entrance. I had never noticed it before. I was walking down the road on Sunday and heard an eagle squawking. Through the trees I saw two mature eagles in the nest. Eventually one flew off and later I saw one on a branch close by and one in the nest. I figured this must be an active nest and did not want to linger too long and disturb them. On Monday I went by and there was an immature eagle in the nest who flew off shortly after my arrival. I did not see another eagle near the nest after that so it actually must be inactive.
The photos from BlackWater that Bob Quinn has in this album are to say the least - Breath Taking!!! Makes you feel like you're looking up to the sky and that they are right there for you. Loved the juvie pics and the duo soaring high!
Megan, are you still here? Banana for birds..sliced or not sliced...peeled are not peeled???? I have 3, that I think could walk out the door under their own power.
Sorry, had to run to the bus stop. Bananas- peels, or overripe bananas. Usually split mine open so the mockingbird can get to the inside of the peel or banana, which is what he eats.
Been gone two whole days and I sure have missed a lot of excitement. I wept tears of joy when I saw the cam was up. Thank you thank you thank you. and then I had to cry again when I saw those wonderful pictures from Bob Quinn. thank you, and may God bless you. Will try to catch up with blog tomorrow. Hope I havent missed too much. Check with you dear friends tomorrow. donna
I had a very enjoyable afternoon visit - all 3 great-grandkids were still up instead of napping while I was there. Dinner is finished here. Mits placed your 2 and 2 of my pics over in Momsters.(all 4 are in under my sign on but yours are the pm and mine are the am hours)
Hi Dana & Donna. So noone worries like Mits & I did, Norma is OK. She should be back on blog within day or two.
Thank you, Bob, for your explanation on the eagles nest. I believe that Suz and I got to see that nest when were down for the Open house last fall. We tried to take a picture of it and put it in the album on the momsters group. I like Your picture much better! :)
Megan - That's cool. I thought they just liked the peels.
MIts, I don't think she is dead! What the heck happened? I must have missed the part where they said what happened to her to put her in that condition.
I was just looking at that site, so pretty with the sun going down, still only 1 egg??? She was tending to a patient at the ferry boat accident and got accidentally knocked into the water, and some little girl in shock pointed to the water, and Derrick went in and got her, and, she looked liked death warmed over when he pulled her out...good makeup job.
How cute, dogums:):).There is a cute movie on Animal Planet now called "The Retrievers". About a family with Golden's, but got to watch Grey's and see what happens. 2Ealgles at WE now.
Well, I was just checking in to see if you found my answer, Suzanne..and you did. Mockingbird will eat banana, apples and oranges, The insides of all these fruits, and will also peck at the inside of the banana peel. My Carolina wrens love to eat raisins. Of course if you're lucky enough to get an oriole in your yard, they also love oranges. Usually see them in my yard in the early spring, but they don't hang around. I think robins would probably eat fruit, too, when it's cold and hard to get bugs or worms.
Suzanne the pine is suppose to help with insects and things not to develope in nest. One site said that for eagles.
Although when I was watching the Per. Falcons in Harrisburg. When they took the chicks out to band them. They spray through saying due to lice, and bugs.
I always put my bananas on the ground. Last week I saw a flicker eating seeds from my feeder. Birds will eat what they can when the weather gets this cold and they can't get to their usual food sources.
Good Morning everyone. This is in fact a beautiufl way to start a new day. Hoping your day is beautiufl all the way thru. Off to coffee and dog treats, and then comfort food for the next winter storm this weekend ..

They had said that the weather plays havoc with their cam........
Sorry, had to run to the bus stop. Bananas- peels, or overripe bananas. Usually split mine open so the mockingbird can get to the inside of the peel or banana, which is what he eats.
I was watching also, Jo, it looked pretty windy there. Things were flying by the nest.
Thanks, Megan, headed to the backyard:).

Evening, all!
Thank you, Bob, for your explanation on the eagles nest. I believe that Suz and I got to see that nest when were down for the Open house last fall. We tried to take a picture of it and put it in the album on the momsters group. I like Your picture much better! :)

Belle looks like she is getting some rest :)
MIts,
I don't think she is dead! What the heck happened? I must have missed the part where they said what happened to her to put her in that condition.
She fell in the river, Paula. And was there for some time, her body temp was in the 80's. The repeat of last weeks show is on now.
How did she fall in the river...
Wray at WE...sunset starting to look pretty....
Mits,
I think Grey's is also on on Friday night...repeat of Thursday
I was just looking at that site, so pretty with the sun going down, still only 1 egg??? Yes, it is, but I always forget that it is on.
I would have watched it last Friday, but had Cohen here. We watched "Meerkat Manor". He calls them "dogums", his word for dog. LOL.
Yup, still only one egg at WE nest.
How cute, dogums:):).There is a cute movie on Animal Planet now called "The Retrievers". About a family with Golden's, but got to watch Grey's and see what happens. 2Ealgles at WE now.
