Good Morning again. Thanks for the new thread Steve and I hope you are feeling a bit better. Hi Mits..thanks for the heads up.This is the 2nd time in the history of this blog that I've gotten on before you - Too much late TV, gal.
Saw the ME eagle earlier - was lying down in the nest when first came on & I thought maybe 'nesting' but then he/she was up & about.
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES--MITS & MEMA JO----I just saw a eagle at NE land in the nest & is eating something----What's happening---must read other blog---
THE GREAT NORMABYRD WHO KNOWS ALL--ho!----Thinks the song is--"Oh Where, oh where has my little dog gone---oh where---oh where can he be---with his tail cut short & ____cut long---etc.----What do you all think???
Great video, PAULA, I missed it last night, love the way Belle wanting in and Lib seemed to want to stay...cool how you have made it soo easy to view your videos. Just one click and your in.
Too bad video isn't running today. Would have made a good video. I tried to do one from the egg turning yesterday afternoon....but the quality was too poor. Hopefully we will get an opportunity to see a switch and egg turning on the live feed when it is not so windy or dark out!
Good morning..Hope your day goes well. Under serious weather warnings here so not sure what the weekend holds for me. Maybe they will be wrong. ANyway enjoying the cams while I can. Those on FeedBlitz know there are great videos from yesterday available at the NCTC Eagles Of Shepherdstown Blogsite, and the For the Love Of Eagles Blog as well. It was a wonderful day for live nest viewing yesterday. Click on my name and have a look see.
Hi, this is my first time to read the blog. I am a real eagle fanatic and have the sites for eagles nest at Blackwater from Africam and the ones at Kent. But I saw several others mentioned...Maine, California, NE. Would it be possible to post a complee list of the sites...or email it to me..genie616@aol.com.
I am excited to find this blog, and enjoy meeting all of you.
ty Paula I took a guess and went to that site and even into the forum to read some. I was really surprised by all the great pictures. That is a neat site. Didn't read all of the forum.
Have you been watching that site since back in 06?
Dana, I knew of those nests last year - they have been on the momsters links for ages. But I couldn't ever get on to see them last year, and when I did, it seemed like the quality was terrible.
I never knew they had a forum until last October. I only found it through a link to my website. They didn't have the link on the page they do now. They started their forum in June, right before they tagged the eaglet (A-49) in the Santa Cruz nest. I have been watching those nests since back in October, tho.
PAULA the channel island forum is very similar to the forum of the Harrisburg falcon forum, I like that your can read the remarks and not have to join in, and everyone does a great job of the picture taking, very informative too.:).
Thanks for the important info about the fluff, Paula. I thought it meant grass but for some reason I also thought it may have meant the breast feathers they pluck! DUH! Hi Genie Just sent you an email. Hopefully you will join our Momsters group
There you are Norma - didn't know if you got kicked out or not!
Well for some reason I got it to finally work. I tried before with no avail. I got SC into windows media player so I can have Maine in winamp. Happy now. ( :
I did put out a banana peel. I do have a Mockingbird. During last summer he try to make his nest under my small grill on our deck. It was so funny went out and all these sticks all over the porch. Ed asking me and I'm asking Ed and the Mockingbird is laughing at us.
So I know he is around (with a mate) somewhere maybe he will spot the banana peel.
We have so may cats in the area. hee hee I put a thumb tact through it with the inside of peel up and put it on railing. Hoping to see birdie or Mockingbird eating it. Please Please (that's a prayer). ( :
Not yet, but Dr. Peter Sharpe did, answer me when I saw the replay of him several years ago, taking the eggs out of the nest. He was nearby checking the cam and just like you said that day was doing a replay.
I want to get this spring a feeder that hangs off the railing. That way the feeder isn't into the yards where the dogs are. It has to be up so I can just walk on ramp to put seed in it. So we can sit in our kitchen. It has 3 great windows at sitting level to see from. I miss my hummingbirds too. I'll be thinking on that one. I want to put JO's plant on table on my porch.
MEMAJO---No I didn't get shut out--Saturday is usually the day all the kids check in----sometime more than once---ho!---But I LOVE 'EM! I did finally get to see the eagle in the SC nest---Now that is a SIGHT---The background colors--WOW!---DANA---You are CLEVER---thumb tacking the banana peel!! ho!
Eagle at thnest. Looks like he is stuck in the fluff!!! lol I can't see his feet...... The VA egg well is sooooooooo deep Looks like she is down in the hole!
I would say that mama eagle to be in ME is definitely chowing down these days...back at the nest eating again.
I caught the greatest Sticky Situation yet at nE this morning..it will be on the For the Love of Eagles Blitz tomorrow am...made me laugh out loud at the antics those two pulled for a few secs this morning :)
Such awesome birds...so many eagles, so many nests so little time...
Did I deduce rightly from your comments that there is a second egg at the West End Nest (no video so far today) now, which was laid by the second female??
I've been wondering forever how that affair works...even e-mailed once, but didn't get a reply to that question.

weather is very bad here. I am going to close down my desktop now as powere is blinking off and on. I have already uploaded a really cute video from NE this morning as I fear i will lose power and not be able to do it tonight. Hope you will enjoy. Will be on my laptop some later as long as I can. The will be sitting by my fireplace if I need to with two dogs and waitng for the storm to end. Nice hot meal in crock pot...gonna feed pooches and me..rally the flashlight and candles Have a good evening. i would do anything to nOT see this head to Shepherdstown but out of my hands .

I am back home now for the evening. Looks as though some TV shows are taking precedence her tonight. That is ok because soon everyone will be here watching new eaglets. Well, as you can see from the cam pic, it's snowing here now. Poor eagle is covered. But at least right now it's snow not ice. Looks like it's going to be a little of everything here today, snow, ice, sleet.

Good Saturday watching to you all....
Did I deduce rightly from your comments that there is a second egg at the West End Nest (no video so far today) now, which was laid by the second female??
I've been wondering forever how that affair works...even e-mailed once, but didn't get a reply to that question.
I think they only had one egg in previous years, which was more confusing.
Anybody understand it better than I??
Jim
We nest back up, but not any better. Not sure if the good Dr. has been there yet or not.
Jim,
Last year at the WE nest, each female laid 2 eggs. The male that is there mates w/ both the females.
So far, we believe each female has laid one egg each, for a total of two eggs.
Missed Paula's initial comment, or I wouldn't have had to deduce so much.
Like to know what you know about the arrangement anyway.
Jim
Thanks, Paula...didn't know they had 4 eggs last year, since only 1 chick was fostered to them.
That chick had a broken leg at banding time and was removed to rehab. So I assumed, incorrectly, that they had only laid a single egg.
Happy Saturday,
Jim
The WE nest, for some time, has had 2 females and 1 male. There is only one other on the internet w/ such an arrangement. It is not unknown, however, in the eagle world. They all share the nesting duties and such. Last year the original male disappeared, and the new male, 01, appeared. He is now part of the WE trio.
Paula, I didn't know about the male being new to WE. You think the original male had more then he cared to handle.
Eagle in Maine, eating.
BBL
Kent, cam 1, has eagle.
Jim
They don't know what happened to him. Never found his body or anything. I think he was 25, so he probably just died of old age. The females are 20. 01 is only 7 years old. (you go, guy!) Truly Superman!
;)
WINDY EAGLES IN MAINE.

EAGLE AT KENT CAM ON BRANCH.
EAGLES ALL GONE AT KENT.
BOTH EAGLES OUR NEST.
LIB JUST LEFT AND BELLE IS BACK.
Eagle at CO.
PAULA, WE, looks pretty clear now
All gone at KENT.
#81 at TH.
Not too bad a day, but that West End cam is going to drive me crazy!
This cam seems to be working pretty well now, but has anyone seen or heard anything about the video cam?? I have not been able to get it to open this season yet.
I saw the male (big bird, thought it was the female until I saw the number) at the Two Harbors nest bring in a large branch and try to position it on the left side of the picture not long ago. Their nest is getting much more "built" this year, instead of relying on the stone construction of the site.
Better do some chore stuff for now...take it easy.
Jim
Jim, our live-feed comes and goes, it was on yesterday. Yes, I was watching the eagle at TH moving the big stick.
EAGLES AT KENT.
WORKING ON THE NEST BOWL.
STAR is testing the nest.
I am back home now for the evening. Looks as though some TV shows are taking precedence her tonight. That is ok because soon everyone will be here watching new eaglets.
Glo I hope that storms moves out of your area quickly. I dislike just waiting to see if the power is going to go out.

Have a good night/GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY!!
Thanks, Mits...gives me hope of getting through to the video some day.
Everyone enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Jim
Well, as you can see from the cam pic, it's snowing here now. Poor eagle is covered. But at least right now it's snow not ice. Looks like it's going to be a little of everything here today, snow, ice, sleet.
Good Morning eagle watcher friends.
Our Belle is in the nest she was covered with snow. She had once already shook snow off. Within a short while; cause we're expecting 2-4 inches then more sleet. Belle must have the instincts that it is going to be a "bad storm".
Our Belle protecting her eggs.
I started a new album to add pics to for Feb 25 - March 3. Paula will have to more it please cause right now it is at the end of albums. Add your snap shots of this marvelous eagle careing for her eggs in a show storm.
It was sleet here first then it turned to snow later it is suppose to turn back to sleet.
Tai is just so happy outside laying on his back eating bamboo. In the lite snow they are getting so far.
BW eagle nest has no snow
