Is the eagle ok with that much snow on it? In all the time I've been watching, I've never seen it so covered before. I know they are very well protected by their feathers, but this just seemed much more than normal. Sorry if this is a silly question.
She had snow and ice on her last week and did okay. I have a hard time watching her because I know she must be miserable. What a devoted mother she is!
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----Looks like a "Winter Wonder Land" here--about 3.5 inc.--but looks as if it may be sleeting some---L00KS BEAUTIFUL!---Hi SHARON & WELCOME DKIFE---SHARON is correct---these EAGLES are well protected with their feathers----& they are truly devoted parents as SHARON says---
SHARON---How's the weather in Bluefield?---Are you folks getting all this snow & sleet?----Hope NOT!---Of course ANDREW will get another day off from school---ho!---
Good almost noon to everyone! Welcome dkife! Sharon said it well in her reply to you.. Our BELLE is a dedicated mother and when they switch or turn the eggs you will see what I mean.
Thanks, Dana for creating new album. I'll go over & look at it.Paula always puts the " before the date so I think that is I will need to do to get it up where it belongs..........
Hi ALL! I just saw our cam! Someone on the nest is completely covered with snow or something.....are they okay? I mean, this is a MOTHER talking now.....I WORRY! Geula!!
HI GEULA--GLO & MEMAJO---I know it looks terrible---but both these EAGLES & the ones at BW survived worse weather----I agree with JO---these MAGNIFICENT BIRDS are not going to be bothered by this weather----But "I wish I were there with a SHOVEL"----ho!--You & GLO stay COOL---(catch ?)
OK? Help me out here. Is the camera froze OR is Liberty already nesting? Just looks as though he is not down on the eggs but then he wouldn't cover as much space as Belle......... I wish the live feed were up-BUT it isn't.
JO---It's snowing here REALLY BIG TIME too!---It's 6 in. now & still sleeting-----It's one of those stay inside & make SOUP! ho!--Seems I have been doing that a lot lately----
EVERYONE should check GLO'S latest video---It is so very FUNNY---I swear these EAGLES are human!!!
Looks as though the snow system is moving - Cambridge BW now is getting something.
Norma - Veggie soup????
Steve I missed telling you that I know you are kidding us about having FUN. I bet, though, that you have some very good nurses there to take care of you!
JO---She/he is tenting & appears to be spread out over lots of territory-----what you think??? You need to call NILLA & have her climb the tree & straighten all this out!!!----NILLA---MISS YOU!--EAGLES NEED YOU!--
Man, I now know how my gals up in NY feel. This is a beautiful fluffy snow with large flakes - Now if I didn't have the worry of 3 little eggs & 2 large adults without a canopy over them.............It would be a peaceful snow.
On BW they are advertising a documentary on "Animal Planet" called OSPREY ODDESSY--dates & times are on Animal Planet"---today & I think Mon.---(several different times)--Check me--
Dana, were you watching around 12:15. I thought there was a switch when I thought that Liberty came in. Was it the other way around? I was alerting the blog and missed a little.
I'm back from checking out pics on email of great granddaughter..... Looks as though there was a 'shake off of snow' Those large wings really come in handy on a day like today. Looks as though some snow is sticking to our cam on the left side..
Hello, Norma, Jo, anyone else out there. I hope to be back on a fairly normal track after a week completely off the track. But I panicked over that switch. Scary. Amazing.
HI SANDY---Hope you are now ON TRACK---Our temp is up to 36° & melting---that means we are going to be ICE tomorrow----I think I am going to quit looking at our nest-----ho!----Then no more worrying!
I too wish a quick and complete recovery for Steve.
Looks like they have to dig out of the snow drifts again. And my relatives in MN and IA got a deep load of snow overnight ... may be still falling.
In So Cal, it's brisk and partly cloudy. Fairly nice between stretches of rain.
It's supposed to be "El Nino," and I don't exactly doubt it, but we usually get a lot of heavy rain while those are going on...this year we've had a lot of "threats" of heavy rain, which has usually passed to the north of us, and we've had a lot of light rain bouts.
I wish you all well, and of course I hope for the best for our eagle family. Have a "warm in the house with a hot toddy" day.
Channel Island nests are all in the swing of things now!!! Eggs, Eggs and more eggs......... Thanks Jim - Glad you let me know you were also watching it...........
Well I have literally cried my way through the BLOg but I am all caught up. Startred when I opened Megan's picture of the snowy eagle. Thank you so very much for getting a couple of pictures for me.
It really shook me though ...I felt so sad for her immediately. Doesn't help that I have been up all night trying to save an aquarium full of fish from no heat and 32 degrees outside, and dropping quickly enough inside. Hauled at least 100 gals of water all night long, cold water out, warm water in, and the strangest thing is I thought to myself OK I love these fish and I'm not aobut to let them just die if I can help it, but for Megan it means being out in the weather several times during a storm to help save the flowers that are part of the family's livlihood. OK enuf of that but yep Megan I was thinking of you only thought your turn was like tonight ...had no idea the stuff is already there. I had my power gone for 14 hours. I am now going to try to take a nap. I still feel sorry they are dealing with more miserable weather in that nest, and very grateful they are in the shell and not freshly hatched.
Good snowy afternoon. Finally able to check in today. We were out looking at place for a rehearsal dinner and the reception for my son. Got to see the rehearsal dinner place, but couldn't get up the hill to see the reception place.
Three eggs at the WE nest, none at TH or SC nests.
Good news is I don't have to take the trek to go bowling tonight!
Back in from 'watching' hubby shovel. Man I am really tired! lol We have about 4-5 inches and it isn't doing anything right now. I hope it is finished! Temps aren't too low right now & there isn't any wind.
Don't put a space inbetween the "view" and & and the & and "current". That is the only way I could get the last line to show up. Either that or send me an email, and I will send you the link.
I am going to have dinner now - If anyone is lurking and sees a switch or a turning of the eggs, I invite you to please make a comment for us! THANX MUCH!
I am thinking that our nest should be having a switch for Belle to come in for Night Duty. I may be wrong but I think it is Liberty in the nest now. Seems like around this time of evening is when they switch.
I am really trying to watch the cam - I want to see that head come out from being tucked under the wing. Glo saw an egg turning less then an hr ago but I have not seen any movement since then -I don't know, maybe he sleeps that long. I just don't want our cam to be frozen...
The snow has completely stopped - not extremely cold, raining (more like misting). Temps tomorrow should be up in the 40's.The week's forecast shows the night time temps not going so low and the daytime temps staying up with maybe reaching 50 degrees by the weekend.
Good morning my friends of fine feathers!! (Actually it looks like 1 friend - Suzanne - Good morning to you). I have been watching our nest and working. I hope everyone has a delightful day!
Good Morning Sharon and Suzanne and all the eagle family watchers. Sharon, I too have trouble watching our family in the snow. it was 60 degrees in Wallins Creek yesterday. Outside in t shirts after church. We still have had no measurable snow here, and I can hardly wait for the warmth of the sun to melt away snow from our nest. I worry about the eggs and I worry about the nest falling under the weight. Poor little birds. take notes sharon for me too sharon. Be back much later.
Good morning everyone Hope you have a good eagle viewing day. Glad to see you made it in OK Suzanne Good to see you on the Blog Sharon I take it from Belles tenting position and cams having problems at Blackwater that it isn't exactly great weather there again today...bummer double bummer...gets me down actually, gonna have to find a sunny cam to watch at the same time I guess.
actually Paula I don't think they switched...filmed a series of pictures from that visit and don't thin Belle was ready to leave but he offered, maybe brought food but didn't see any signs of her eating...maybe she sent him to bring "All the sun in"
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----Great to see so many of you out today---SUZANNE, SHARON, GLO, MAULEY, PAULA & DANA----It's 37° here---We had lots of snow yesterday, ICE last night---No school in this area----Sounds if there are lots of EAGLES are up now!---SHARON--Great pic of LIB & BELLE this a.m.---
I am having trouble with figuring out who is in our nest. Today there are comments to help me ty. Yesterday I had terrible time probably guessed wrong sorry.
SUZANNE---I'm sure you didn't stay up to see AL GORE'S film on global warming won an OSCAR---as did the music from the film!!!!----Getting the WORD out!!!
DANA---I am of no help---My pic is a wee bit blurry now---Yesterday when it was snowing---Our EAGLE made a "Snow Angel" in the snow around the nest---BEAUTIFUL---JO got it on film----
CHECKED--BUTA BUTA----Asleep in the tub---Read update---Yesterday she climbed up to the first log in the play room---she tries to climb everything----Can't let her outside until the "cub-proof" the area---ho!----BEAUTIFUL--
DANA---MITS, PAULA, & I think Jo know about the eggs at CA nests---If you read down it (below the nest under discussion) shows 3 eggs at WE----They remove the eggs & take them to an incubator where they are hatched---Yesterday---PAULA posted the link for WE eggs--CHECK up----(watch for JO'S pic)----was about the time JO checked out!
SHARON----Did you read the Sun. update----That "Little Princess) climbed up to the 1st level log in the day room----Wouldn't you like to pick her up----just once----ADORABLE BUTA!
THANKS, PAULA I'm going to have to take notes to keep up with all the eggs, don't know why I thought TH had an egg, but got concerned when I was watching this a.m. and no one was there.
Good Late Morning to all of you It really takes time to read morning remarks, check out your emails and check out 11 cams before making a comment. I think that from here or out I'll just say hello and BBL.
Dana Made a comment on the film loop about all those morning pics that were captured by YOU yesterday.
No Bus Duty today - their dad took care of them. Norma still don't know what the 'tune' is for Jay's poem on the Panda Update.... Sharon said she emailed them but I know she'll let us know if she gets an answer. Would loved to have seen her climbing the log...right now she is still just a Cub in the Tub.
Was just thinking the same thing, Paula. With night temps not dipping too low and the projected higher temps for the rest of the week during the day...Nest should be free of the snow in day or two. I noticed that CO has some snow (very little) on their nest today. I cannot get the Norfolk cam up -
LUN LUN isn't as nice with BUTA BUTA as MEI is TAI----Everytime the little BEAUTY want's to move around she stops her---Last time she kept picking her up in her mouth & moving her around---Little BUTA can move when she is left alone----YOU GO GIRL!!!!
I know what you mean, Norma. The other day LunLun dragged her from the den, out the door and into the day room. Even though I am told it doesn't hurt her, I surely was hurting for her...........
Florida eagle gone now...Mits, I saw that update too,, thought maybe someone else had more info! Eagle had looked like it was sitting on eggs again. Maybe getting ready again?
I've been watching her do that for weeks now Paula, not sure she has given up on the last batch yet, or it is just a nice place to rest that she feels familiar with.
JO---Wasn't that worth admission-----I think she was ready to climb up again---LUN LUN pawed her down----I get so tickeled watching those "tiny legs" move so fast!!---GOOD SHOW BUTA--
ButaButa really did put on a show climbing the log, turning herself around and almost making it down backwards before she fell. She was so careful and serious in climbing. I hope they have trees out in their yard like they do for Tai.
Take a minute to look at TAI who is still hanging in his tree
GOOD ONE MITS!----She is allowed--ho! ho!----You have seen TAI do all these same things BUTA is doing now----He is still ADORABLE--such a little 'SHOWMAN"---ho!
I thought BUCA BUCA would take a nap---She is still climbing----Some one must be entertaining LUN LUN-----Debating whether to get dressed or not! Must fix FOOD--

Belle is moving her head just a little. Hope I don't miss seeing her turn the eggs or fluff her feathers.
Hi Geula This is the 2nd snow storm that Belle will have weathered through. Liberty should be there & maybe we will see them switch nesting duties.
I am right there with you next to Hysterical!!! We really do love these eagles!

Eagle at the NE Nest...They were snow covered but they bring in grasses & leaves to covered it.
LOOK---the "Little Prince" is asleep in a very "snowy tree"---I DO LOVE HIM---
The West End nest in CA now has
3 eggs
That is the nest with 1 male and 2 adults.
I should have added that on the forum they are thinking that Two Harbors nest might now have an egg........
Check the action on the Channel Island nests!
Jim
JIM--JIM----It's NOT NICE to call and tell us how GREAT the weather is at your house----IT'S LOUSY here!!!----ho!----
Channel Island nests are all in the swing of things now!!!

I thought you had lost power when I couldn't find you here this morning.
Take care & I will send you some more pics for the loop.
Hubby is going out to clear the porch & cars while it isn't doing anything.
BBL
Good snowy afternoon. Finally able to check in today. We were out looking at place for a rehearsal dinner and the reception for my son. Got to see the rehearsal dinner place, but couldn't get up the hill to see the reception place.
Three eggs at the WE nest, none at TH or SC nests.
Good news is I don't have to take the trek to go bowling tonight!
I heard there is a video of the 3 eggs at the WE...I'll try to post the info here.
They replaced batteries yesterday, but it needs something else.
Back in from 'watching' hubby shovel. Man I am really tired! lol
We have about 4-5 inches and it isn't doing anything right now. I hope it is finished! Temps aren't too low right now & there isn't any wind.
Liberty sits so very still that sometimes I think the cam has frozen - BUT then his head turns and I am happy again.........
Looks like it is finished here too. No sleet or freezing rain, just snow. Gotta go shovel

Don't put a space inbetween the "view" and & and the & and "current". That is the only way I could get the last line to show up. Either that or send me an email, and I will send you the link.
Eagle has turned, facing 6pm
I tried to send the link over the Momsters email, Paula. Hasn't come through yet. It is a great video and the eggs are visible.
I am going to have dinner now - If anyone is lurking and sees a switch or a turning of the eggs, I invite you to please make a comment for us!
THANX MUCH!
turning the eggs at 5:46
BW is having a switch
I am thinking that our nest should be having a switch for Belle to come in for Night Duty. I may be wrong but I think it is Liberty in the nest now. Seems like around this time of evening is when they switch.
Yes, they do, Jo. Cam is still updating. Eagle has head turned and tucked in.
You getting any drizzle, Jo? Getting a little bit here, but it is 33.5°, so hopefully it will stay above freezing.
I am really trying to watch the cam - I want to see that head come out from being tucked under the wing. Glo saw an egg turning less then an hr ago but I have not seen any movement since then -I don't know, maybe he sleeps that long.
I just don't want our cam to be frozen...
So Holler if you see movement...
Hi again, there are eagles at the Catalina sites now...
Jim
It is 32° in Shepherdstown.
1 eagle at TH, 2 eagles at WE
2 at SC, no movement yet, but still looks like the cam is updating
That was either a switch or a shake, udated and big eagle in nest over eggs. now back on them
The snow has completely stopped - not extremely cold, raining (more like misting). Temps tomorrow should be up in the 40's.The week's forecast shows the night time temps not going so low and the daytime temps staying up with maybe reaching 50 degrees by the weekend.
Lady BW is tenting over the eggs.
I am very tired so signing off early tonight. Hoping for sunshine somewhere tomorrow and good eagle viewing Good Night all.
Good Night Glo Lots of
Sunshine would be very nice!
8:47pm I did see the head raise and move once or twice before it was tucked under the wing.
Cam is not frozen....
It may be the weather but for some reason I am tired and am going to call it a day.
Good Night Everyone
Pleasant dreams & peaceful sleep
Prayers being said for all
Don't think Suzanne will be in tomorrow morning with all this snow!
Of course, she may surprise us.
THINK SUNSHINE
One more thing to mention ...
If you're lurking please take a
look over at BW....
NOW THAT IS A TENT !

Switch, our nest
Actually, not sure if that was a switch or not, but eggs are definitely getting turned!
actually Paula I don't think they switched...filmed a series of pictures from that visit and don't thin Belle was ready to leave but he offered, maybe brought food but didn't see any signs of her eating...maybe she sent him to bring "All the sun in"

Good Morning Suzanne, Glo, Paula, Sharon, Mauley.
Weather is warmer, snow is melting.
2 eagles osprey BW

SUZANNE----I didn't watch OSCARS either---but kept checking in & got to see it----The film was shown at a political meeting I attended----GOOD ONE!
DANA---Check the BW nest---She has fresh pine twig in her nest---Always think of you when I see it!!!
MORNING EVERYONE. PAULA Did I read correctly that TWO HARBORS has an egg??
All these colors on our cam is not making for a very good picture!
I see she does Norma...hee hee
Each creature seems to have been created with different instincts. Which truely amazes me.
ok Mits Good Morning will check it out ty
2 harbors Mits???
HI MITS----How was your day with "MAGGIE"?----I am sure it was AWESOME for you----
I don't see a egg in the nest at 2 harbors

No, Mits, no eggs yet at Two Harbors. But WE has 3 now.
SC--MT-----TH---1 EAGLE & they are preparing a nest--ho! (Have placed sticks & twigs around)----WE 2 EAGLES--

I emailed and called NCTC so hopefully somebody will reset the cam for us. I am so grateful (and shocked) it was up all weekend!!
EVERYONE CHECK YOUR EMAIL---JIM has emailed pics of the CA NESTS & shows the WE nest with the eggs---(not real clear---but you can see them)!!!
YEAH! SHARON---our cam is a "ZEBRA" (striped pic.)----
THANKS, PAULA I'm going to have to take notes to keep up with all the eggs, don't know why I thought TH had an egg, but got concerned when I was watching this a.m. and no one was there.
SHARON, Thanks for the call to NCTC.
EAGLE AT MAINE.
TAI is getting to big for some of these trees, he wants to be in.
MITS---He was asleep in a very SNOWY TREE yesterday!! ho! ho!----Is he separated from MEI in the day time too?
Good Late Morning to all of you
It really takes time to read morning remarks, check out your emails and check out 11 cams before making a comment. I think that from here or out I'll just say hello and BBL.
Dana Made a comment on the film loop about all those morning pics that were captured by YOU yesterday.
WAX FOR NCTC
Norma, sometimes he is separated from Mei at noon each day, but MTBR.
GOOD A.M. JO----Were you on bus duty today?-----Read about BUTA BUTA'S CLIMBING yesterday----She is a little "IMP"---
No Bus Duty today - their dad took care of them. Norma still don't know what the 'tune' is for Jay's poem on the Panda Update....
Sharon said she emailed them but I know she'll let us know if she gets an answer. Would loved to have seen her climbing the log...right now she is still just a Cub in the Tub.
Eggs turned. All 3 looking good!
Yup, got a good pic, put on Momster site...cam is updating...has lines, but better than nothing!
Now that is a Switch
BW cam has a broad blue line
& WV has a good picture..........
But of course, BW's interference only last for a minute or two........
National Zoo's panda cam is down:(.
Zoo cam of pandas back on:).
Look at Tai:):):).
I had seen him earlier up in the tree.
ButaButa is up and LunLun showing her affection.
AAAAWWWW time at Atlanta.
Looks like some good melting going on. Sun has been out a little bit here. Eagle temp is 39°
Anyone hear anything new on FL nest? I spy an eagle in the nest...
Was just thinking the same thing, Paula. With night temps not dipping too low and the projected higher temps for the rest of the week during the day...Nest should be free of the snow in day or two. I noticed that CO has some snow (very little) on their nest today.
I cannot get the Norfolk cam up -
PAULA, last update was 2/23/07 on FLA. nest.
EAGLE AT NE.
It is almost BALMY here---42° here!
I know what you mean, Norma. The other day LunLun dragged her from the den, out the door and into the day room. Even though I am told it doesn't hurt her, I surely was hurting for her...........
JO---I know it doesn't hurt her---but I think LUN LUN is "lazy"---& wishes to get a little "shut eye"--ho!-----
BW Perfect view of their 2 eggs
You had to be as fast as lightning to have seen BW's 2 eggs. lol
2 eagles at osprey nest.
Florida eagle gone now...Mits, I saw that update too,, thought maybe someone else had more info! Eagle had looked like it was sitting on eggs again. Maybe getting ready again?
Buta Buta is going to try to
climb the log
I think someone needs to give her a
little push!!!
I've been watching her do that for weeks now Paula, not sure she has given up on the last batch yet, or it is just a nice place to rest that she feels familiar with.
Yea, Jo, it's hard isn't it? I got a peek earlier today. Does anyone remember if they go to 15 second refresh?
Thanks, Mits. I hadn't seen her in there when I have sporadically checked it.
I was just thinking the same thing, Paula????
I wish Atlanta had the hammock up
THANKS JO----SHARON---Please check out BUTA BUTA----She has climbed way up on the logs & still going!
EGGS IN VIEW BW.
EAGLE ON EGGS AGAIN, GOT A GOOD SHOT OF IT COMING BACK INTO NEST.
Be interesting to know where LunLun is right now.
Shimmy down that log, Little Princess. So proud of her!!
BOOM
JO---Wasn't that worth admission-----I think she was ready to climb up again---LUN LUN pawed her down----I get so tickeled watching those "tiny legs" move so fast!!---GOOD SHOW BUTA--
NO VIDEO at CO---
Sometimes you have to hit the refresh button a couple of times, Norma.
NORMA, YOU HAVE WAX:)!
ButaButa really did put on a show climbing the log, turning herself around and almost making it down backwards before she fell. She was so careful and serious in climbing. I hope they have trees out in their yard like they do for Tai.
Take a minute to look at TAI who is still hanging in his tree
MEI AND TIAN ARE TOGETHER IN THE YARD.
One of them must have gone inside - Is it Tian?
ButaButa is climbing again - this time on a pile of rocks.
Yes it is, Mei chased him up the tree, than inside....she is in a mood.
THANKS MITS----I see TAI up a tree-----Haven't seen them interacting for a while---They used to wrestle around---
GOOD ONE MITS!----She is allowed--ho! ho!----You have seen TAI do all these same things BUTA is doing now----He is still ADORABLE--such a little 'SHOWMAN"---ho!
I can see them together now - One must have gotten the fruitcycle treat. They're wrestling for it.
Mits that is Tain and Mei on cam 1?
I thought BUCA BUCA would take a nap---She is still climbing----Some one must be entertaining LUN LUN-----Debating whether to get dressed or not! Must fix FOOD--
Buta Buta saw that her den door was open....made a beeline for it...and in she goes...she really should be ready for her nap.
YES, that has been Mei and Tian together....
Norma the debate is over for me - I ate lunch but now I need to go make myself presentable for the day
BBL
No wonder Tai is up the tree so long, he does not want any part of Mei's moods.
MEI IS TRYING TO STEAL TIANS' TREAT.
I see our cam is still having some transmission issues!
