So very tired. I have been teaching hard this week. It was interesting this afternoon. I was visited by an administrator at the beginning of class and another one at the end. They were taking notes. We are being pressured to begin a new kind of instruction, and I am sure they were checking to see if we are implementing it.
They visited everybody. We are all so tired from ending one semester and starting another one without enough time to do the turnaround.
It is really hard to sell the kids on a program you are not sold on yourself, but I will try to make a go of it. I guess everyone will.
Oh, Shirley, I feel for you!! I always just wanted admistrators to just leave me alone. I always welcomed new ideas IF they were reasonable. But never liked anyone telling me what to do and when to do it.
This new thing is complicated, and they keep telling us that it won't take much class time and should not take too long to plan for. I am not so sure about that.
All of us are supposed to use the same charts to set up our materials and the same key words to clue the students. Maybe I am just feeling resistance to being forced into a mold. I have always tried to comply, but I do not want to do everything the same way everyone else does.
I think they believe it will help the kids understand. Maybe.
No, it doesn't, Lolly. But they have answers for all objections. Sometimes you just have to say, "Yes, that is right. It is a good idea. Thank you." This time I am just having a hard time doing that. I guess I have been doing this too long.
I think Hope is nursing now, There is a louder purr. Listening to them they really sound like human babies. So cute! Hope has been up and looking down on them.
Shirley... sure sounds difficult and cumbersome...all that you mention, but just keep doing what you do so well.... care, and give... I think it will come along.
Hope to hear a report on Susan soon..and that she is doing okay, also Hunter and Kathryn, always hoping those things for you and your family
Getting ready for work... time to dress up the dolly.
oh, let's just call it the midnight shift!
Remember Paula, I, for one, would like to see your homemade card!
Lynn sounds like a good sound plan, for helping the granddaughters get back on track.... good luck with all that, you and their parents!
Best wishes for the rest of the evening, that it goes well
Congratulations to Miss Lily. This has been a terrific day. Sounds as if all is going well so far.
MT nest. Maybe there will be a visit yet tonight.
Shirley, sorry you have to make changes you are not comfortable with or confident will bring positive results. Is there some way you can "sort of" do what is wanted while keeping your own style? I hope so.
The sandperson is calling me so I must take my drugs and head back to bed. Will leave the night light on for others. Pleasant bear dreams all mixed with pleasant eaglet dreams.
We had a "fire" in my class today. I projected a video of a fire on the wall while we read lines from Beowulf. I wanted it to be like we were at the mead hall listening to a scop telling the story. Told them they couldn't have any mead, though. (Mead is beer made from honey.)
I was wondering what the adm would have thought if they'd come in at that moment.
One assistant principal even inspected my desk. I wondered what he was looking for. There was one of almost everything there. It looked like a tornado had been through.
That is what I usually did, of course with kinder it is a lot different. I would take what I liked and adjusted it to my style. What I did worked! My last year was my very best! All of my kiddos were reading at the end of the year.
Yes, there is usually something good in the new ideas that come along, and the thing to do is to adopt the part of it that works for you and add it to your bag of tricks.
I do not think this method is bad. I just have to adapt it to my own way of doing things.
But I really do not want to be saying the same words and using the same charts as everyone else. I can understand why someone would think that it is a good way to teach. I just do not agree entirely.
The kids immediately pick up on it when they go from class to class and we are doing the same things.
Yes, Lolly, I can see how kindergarten would be different. You don't have students going from teacher to teacher, and kindergartners are not so skeptical and willing to challenge authority.
Good that all of your kids were reading, Lolly. That is very good.
I think most of mine are!
Well, they are at some level. Problem is that some of them just do not want to read. And some do not read at grade level. Others in the same class are reading well above grade level.
I said that if he was looking for my chart, it was on the board. Of course, I think everyone else said the same thing. Maybe he was looking for a pile of charts completed by students.
Evidence of the variety of abilities in my two regular classes: the grades on an open-book quiz ranged from 10% to 100%. Probably should look closely at the 100% kids. They probably should be in honors classes. That is a truth that can be discouraging. I might need to give up the really good students in those two classes.
I do have one honors class of my own, thank goodness.
Well the hot topic was bear cubs tonight. I just looked at our still cam nest and it sure is visible. We won't miss anything if it stays that way. Lady Blackwater has her head tucked under her wing.
Calling it a day from my nest. Mai is sleeping soundly....for now. Thanks for sharing an exciting day----even if we couldn't really SEE anything! Sleep well. Prayers for all.
Yes, I always had a good relationship with all principals except one. She was a nightmare. We had walk throughs too. Never minded them and really liked it when they came to my class. The kids liked it too.
Before I turn in..♫♪♫♪HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. MEGAN AND PAULA'S BRENSIN♫♪♫♪
I taped Lily this afternoon while we were getting ready to go into GG's and While we were gone. Hope I got the birth recorded! Too sleepy to check it out now.
GOOD MORNING... Our eagles are in the nest...one flew out shortly after looking the nest over, as if to see what kind of stick or fluff is needed. Both are there, now, not doing much...don't blame them, it is only 12°!

The ads can blow you awayk. LOL
And now I can't get the cam to refresh......grrrr.

You know, I think my big typing problem is due to sitting in my chair with my laptop on my lap. Very bad posture and not good for typing.
I guess that is Hope in the background. Oh, I know that is.
Looks like Hope may be trying to nudge Lily to get some milk.
Oh, Shirley, I feel for you!! I always just wanted admistrators to just leave me alone. I always welcomed new ideas IF they were reasonable. But never liked anyone telling me what to do and when to do it.
Funny-----our nest and bear cam comes through in one bud, and the ADS on bear cam come through in the other. Weird!!
Going to put wood on the fire and take my soak! BBL.
Sure wish we did not have that dangly stuff in the way. Could certainly see a lot better. LOL
I hear nursing.
Yeah, Lolly, that place is a mess. They need you to go in and clean it up.
Four bears in a den. At least, we think so. What a group.
Well, it does not seem to be Hope nursing now.
Can hear nursing and at the same time saw Hope at the back. Know the "purring" I hear is from the cubs.
Yes, me too, Lolly.
Could that be two babies nursing now?
Hope was just moaning and I think disturbed one of the cubs. It cried out! On the chat they think Hope is looking down at the cubs. Who knows!
This new thing is complicated, and they keep telling us that it won't take much class time and should not take too long to plan for. I am not so sure about that.
I appreciate your sympathy, Lolly.
Hope has to be jealous. She has never had to share.
She is up and moving around behind Lily.
All of us are supposed to use the same charts to set up our materials and the same key words to clue the students. Maybe I am just feeling resistance to being forced into a mold. I have always tried to comply, but I do not want to do everything the same way everyone else does.
I think they believe it will help the kids understand. Maybe.
Hope does not seem to be successful. Maybe Lily is helping the little ones.
That hanging stuff is really blocking the view now. I think Hope is behind it.
Shirley, they tell us to teach to the learning styles of individual students, but they expect you to teach the same. That does not compute!
Yes, Hope is behind that "stuff".
Cubs were making alot of squeaking sounds a minute ago, but just hear purring now.
No, it doesn't, Lolly. But they have answers for all objections. Sometimes you just have to say, "Yes, that is right. It is a good idea. Thank you." This time I am just having a hard time doing that. I guess I have been doing this too long.
Just had heart failer! Den cam went off and then the ads came on. I really jerked! LOL
Know we've all seen bears today, but couldn't resist posting a couple pics.
Some squealing going on!!!
failure! Gessh!
I think Hope is nursing now, There is a louder purr. Listening to them they really sound like human babies. So cute! Hope has been up and looking down on them.
Lots of purring! But little cries, too.
Think I will dream bears tonight.
Great pics, Loweeda. Those little eyes are just glowing.
They are good pictures. Thanks for sharing, Loretta.
Shirley, I don't blame you ... I think each teachers style is what makes them unique...I would think it boring if everyone has to use the same setup.
Talking to GF on the phone..gotta finish the card!
Aw, heard that bear baby! soooo cute!
BEagle
was that a little pun:
You are "knot" too nervous about the new job?
Get plenty of serene rest this week-end...
clouds here are making the Moon, fuzzy! Hope that clears up to give more light at the nest, especially when it is Straight Up !
Hunter says they sound like helicopters. I can hear that, too.
Bear update!
I think Lily is going to be plumb wore out. I know what it is like to have twins.
Shirley...
sure sounds difficult and cumbersome...all that you mention, but just keep doing what you do so well....
care, and give...

Ok, scanned the card...it's on my Paula's Prints....simple, but hey, he's only 3!
Can see Hope moving around in front of Lily's front....looked like she was peering over top of her for a moment, toward the cam.
Congratulations to Miss Lily. This has been a terrific day. Sounds as if all is going well so far.

Happy Birthday to Master Brensin.
Almost forgot that.
Bear barking!
Yeah, probably can handle it that way, Judie.
Will be working on some ideas this weekend.
Great bear update! Time will reveal how many cubs there are.
It's GREAT Paula..
Thanks !!
Great bear update!

It was great, wasn't it. It will be interesting to find out how many little ones are really there.
That is what I usually did, of course with kinder it is a lot different. I would take what I liked and adjusted it to my style. What I did worked! My last year was my very best! All of my kiddos were reading at the end of the year.
Thanks, Margy....homemade with a little help from my computer, LOL
Looks like we may get near to another 1000.
Hittin the hay...gnite to all you good people!
Hugs to all ♥

Heard a baby squeal.
Nite, Paula! I was just thinking that sooner or later Hope has got to get some sleep. She has been awake and moving for some time now,
Time for me to go shower and get comfy!
Oh, hear Lily and cubs.
Shirley, think I would have asked that admin if you could help him/her find something in your desk. That's intrusive, if you ask me.
Paula, great card.....what is the June 18 for?? (That's my mom's b-day!)
Loretta, I didn't see Hope's shining eyes, so guess it was the back of her head I was seeing!
Good that all of your kids were reading, Lolly. That is very good.
I think most of mine are!
Well, they are at some level. Problem is that some of them just do not want to read. And some do not read at grade level. Others in the same class are reading well above grade level.
Just finishing up the news on TV.
Hope all is well... Want to read your
evening comments before going to bed.
I said that if he was looking for my chart, it was on the board. Of course, I think everyone else said the same thing. Maybe he was looking for a pile of charts completed by students.
Windchill here is 5°. Real temp 13°. Ridiculous. But sure beats -40!!!!
Laurel teaches 6th grade reading. She does an excellent job. So proud of her. Her scores have been so good that administrators leave her alone. LOL
I have been in Minnesota when it was colder than -40. At least the wind chill. I think it was around -60. It gets downright painful.
That was a fun update!! So glad that Jason did NOT end up being the sacrificial lamb!
They hit pretty much everybody today, Lolly. They call that kind of visit a "walkthrough." I guess we can expect more of them.
Seems to have quieted down in the bear den.
Evidence of the variety of abilities in my two regular classes: the grades on an open-book quiz ranged from 10% to 100%. Probably should look closely at the 100% kids. Moon has a lot of clouds in front of it here, too. Didn't earlier when it first came up. Cam well visible, at least for now!
I have, in general, been left alone by administrators, too.
Wonder how frequently the cubs nurse? Just heard my first little squeak!!
Well the hot topic was bear cubs tonight. I just looked at our still cam nest and it sure is visible. We won't miss anything if it stays that way.
Lady Blackwater has her head tucked under her wing.
LOTS of squeals now. So cute.

Night Lynn!
Good Night everyone!
It really was a big bear day!!
Prayers for all your needs/wants
Hugs for All ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I think Hope has finally settled down.
Think we are hearing two, one is fussing and the other is purring. Now Lily is making comforting sounds.
Fussy baby bear.
Hmm, maybe you are right. Lolly. I hear fussing and purring.
They are getting stronger and louder.
I need to call it quits. It has been a very long day.
See you tomorrow. Good night.
Nite Shirley! Having a cup of hot tea and then I am heading to bed.
Poor Lily, one is nursing, can hear the purring, one is fussing loudly, and Hope is climbing on top of her. LOL
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
All is quiet for the moment. Baby was really squalling and Lily did some major moving around while making her soft grunting sounds.
Heading to bed now.
Nite all! Sweet dreams! Hear a few squeals, Lily is in for a long night. LOL Glad it is her and not me.
Forgot to say, checked on nest and it is quite empty!
2 EAGLES!
Well, just pulled cam page up and there's an eagle in it, and here comes the other with a stick.
fluffing nest cup, moving sticks
GOOD MORNING...
Our eagles are in the nest...one flew out shortly after looking the nest over, as if to see what kind of stick or fluff is needed.
Both are there, now, not doing much...don't blame them, it is only 12°!
laying in the nest cup trying it out! making some adjustments
Good Morning! It's only 8.6 here. That's up .2 from 6am!
