so excited I could PEE!!!! I was having a serious discussion about my bad day with Steve and suddenly heard all the noise and I screamed PALMER!!!! and he jumped!!!
Oh happy days :-) Palmer looks strong and health and no worse for the wear!! Sure looks like the nest will be used as a feeding platform post fledge ...great news for all of us :-)
Sad to say that Our 2010 Eagle Season has been successfully completed. There will be more sighting of Palmer visiting the nest. Liberty and Belle once again have done a spectacular parenting job. And the side benefit is all the bonding that has occurred between all of us because of this!
I was out mowing the front yard, came in and refreshed the blog...didn't quite see Palmer feetsies at the far end of the nest, once I saw over 50+ new posts, I knew!
You should have seen it before! LOL Adult, guess it was Lib, chowed down a long time before Palmer showed up. Then Palmer fed a long time before Lib came back.
Facebook has quite a few pics on different persons profile pages & on the NCTC Eagle cam... Jo and Sharon and Pam and now I'm thinking in our E_M album.......
ATLANTA – June 15, 2010 – Zoo Atlanta officials confirmed today that Lun Lun, a 12-year-old female giant panda, was artificially inseminated on June 13, 2010. The veterinary and animal management teams opted to employ artificial insemination (AI) after the world-famous panda, 12-year-old Yang Yang, failed to mate during Lun Lun’s critically brief window of fertility.
Palmer, due to inclement weather, the air space around the NCTC is officially closed for the night. You may resume normal flight patterns in the a.m. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Jim....she came in in a flurry of screams and screeches---don't think anyone paid too much attention to the landing. We were all just so excited and startled by her that I don't think anyone looked to closely until she was down! It was like Wings and Screams!
Hedgie - DNA You mean the very nice young man with young children (with snotty noses lol) I wish he would come on - I don't know any way to contact him.
LOL decided to check the blog for Palmer quickly just before 7 as I had company coming over who needed the computer. Didn't have time to read back and see if anyone was recording so real quick told the person hold on a sec I have to go make a quick recording of Palmer just in case we need it and told her how and why Palmer was so special and why we all would need to see her on the nest returned safely etc. So to make a long story short I will wait to see how much video is already there but I do have a short one to share if we need it. I feel so relieved to see that bird in the nest tonight. I hope hope she decides to stay the night for us. Set your alarms if she is still there when you go to bed. She leaves in the wee hours LOL.
Paula, I know what BEagle means....it either pops up with MS Outlook and then tells me I don't have an account, or it brings up a box that says Windows Internet Explorer: "Could not perform this operation because default mail client is not properly installed." I've had that on PC, netbook and laptop.
Just got through to Norma - Of course I needed to start with the June 14 first flight before I could tell her about the return of Palmer this evening. She was excited. This past Nest Visit per Norma made her realized how much she misses us.
She may go and get a new PC since this old one hasn't been fixed.
Yes, Lynn, I am always here, just not blogging too much! You guys are too much fun and I can't get away when I am working! (Plus, ya know, there's that pesky Facebook thang!!!)
I am heading to bed. One more day of work and then to Kure Beach!! Yay!
Oh no sorry I don't have the homecoming at all. I didn't even have the cam on. I only have checked the blog off and on today. I had one of my crummy headaches today and so did not watch the nest at all. I even missed the sounds you all heard BUT I was thrilled to read it had happened and immediately opened the cam to tape a small piece before turning over my computer for a while. I have her eating and squabbling with parent :-) She is a teen with attitude.
Pam I think we both pretty much taped just about the same thing. Your video is actually very good. I bet Lib and Belle have had an interesting couple of days with that young un LOL.
I am thinking that Megan is getting things ready to go to DC and pick up those flowers for the wedding she is doing this weekend. She wanted someone to ride shotgun with her - I don't blame her. Remember that Megan won't be at Market this Sunday.........
Okay, I have some things I have to do tonight. So, I am going to leave this wonderful company for a while. Can not see Palmer anymore. She is probably sound asleep.
I use Snag It. Bought it 2 or 3 years ago now. It wasn't too expensive and is pretty easy to use. Not sure if Fraps works on this years cam or not but it used to work the first couple of years we had the cam on line. Then hte las tyear or 2 it would n't work for this server. They are both about $29 to $39 Probably a free trial so you can practice a bit and see if you like it before you buy it etc.
OK think I am going to call it a night here. Eyes need some rest but will leave cam on to listen til I go to bed. It feels so good to know she is on the nest tonight. WONDERFUL!
I bought Snagit for this year as well, I think it was either $30-$50...my other software program was free, but I was afraid it wasn't going to work on new computer.
Fraps is about the same price, I don't know if it works on our feed or not.
And I didn't use the free version of fraps, I used Screen Virtuoso, which I'm not sure if you can get for free anymore or not. I was having issues with the way it recorded the sound.
Home late from work again, and I see I missed the party!! But so happy to know it went on!
:)
Dark blob at the top the nest, eh? That's maybe who I heard sneezing the other night!
By the way, if I may be so bold, I thought I might make a pronoun comment -
I'm a newbie this year so I never knew Deb, but I think that whatever the gender of this eaglet, Palmer represents a very special person to many of the people on this blog. For ages we used the generic "he" for a critter whose sex wasn't known, but maybe we could switch that here (if English language purists won't have a cow) and if it's too hard to do that, then in the absence of proof positive, in this case just assume that Palmer is a she. Because it's Deb's spirit that flies when Palmer flies, for so many who post here, so unless someone can prove this is a male, why not just refer to Palmer as she?

As soon as I heard Palmer coming, I started screaming. My neighbors probably think I am being murdered.
What a Split
Palmer is digging in. One hungry eagle. LOL
I am so happy! Been afraid for days that she was gone!!!!
Texted Margy.
LOL Pam! We did hear her coming didn't we. She came in screaming!
I know there is probably not a dry eye on this blog right now.
WE LOVE YOU, PALMER!
Palmer was her own true self
Screaming in all the way!!!!
I sent out an email to Momsters/Dadsters...
Hope all get to see her......
so excited I could PEE!!!! I was having a serious discussion about my bad day with Steve and suddenly heard all the noise and I screamed PALMER!!!! and he jumped!!!
Oh, wow! Can not believe I was on here at the right time. Made my day!
She sure timed it just right - I mean I was here - Now that is special. lol
Yea!
Lynne, that is so funny! If you had the cam up, you had to know what was happening. What a noisy bird!
Home again, home again, jiggity jig!!
Palmer screaming in was one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard.
I guess we are all sitting here with silly grins on our faces. See how you can make us happy, Palmer?
Awwww. Listen to our baby.
Where is Paula? She needs to see this!
yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could get a copy (with sound, of course) of Palmer's homecoming.
Gotta love those screamin' eagles!
Jo, maybe it was your song that brought Palmer to the nest. LOL
Oh happy days :-) Palmer looks strong and health and no worse for the wear!! Sure looks like the nest will be used as a feeding platform post fledge ...great news for all of us :-)
I know we did that for Spunky - not sure if she came back as quickly as Palmer.... Of course food did the trick.
Yes I have that silly grin on my face
Big Time.........
I got a picture to post.
Wish he would pose for a picture closer to the cam. lol
Now, how can I cook dinner and watch him too. I do not want to leave! Jack will just have to wait!
Sad to say that Our 2010 Eagle
Season has been successfully completed.
There will be more sighting of Palmer visiting the nest. Liberty and Belle once again have done a spectacular parenting job. And the side benefit is
all the bonding that has occurred between all of us because of this!
Yeah :-) phew OK best thing i have read in 3 days
I put a picture of Palmer eating up on the NCTC Eagle Cam page.
I took about 3 pics from the still cam.
I'll place in album soon.
HOOOOORAY!!
Oh yeah, Sharon put up a pic, too. Thanks, Sharon. :)
Yea, Paula! So glad you are here!
Yay!
They're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay, more Palmer cries!!!!
Lib arrived, did he bring more vittles?
Oh, listen to that wonderful sound!
More food?
Or is she screaming because he didn't?
I AM SO HAPPY AND RELIEVED TO SEE PALMER!! I KNOW MOST OF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY!
lol, she is nipping his wings,
Palmer is not being nice!!!
Palmer nipping at Lib's wing.
Look at that mantle at the far end, looks like she is tearing into something!
How was that for a sneaky move? Go around behind Palmer to check the nestovers..Ha! Can't fool that kid!!
Guess I should go fix dinner. Jack just might start nipping at me! LOL
Lib brought more greens in.
Think she wants him gone, LOL
That was quite a little standoff for a second.
Awwwww. Lib is feeding her. Awwwww.
Can you say "greedy"?
Awwwww! Lib is feeding Palmer.
Lib feeding Palmer!
From present angle, she looks everybit as big, if not bigger than, Lib.
Is Lib feeding Palmer, LOL
Poor Shirley missed the celebration for a bridge game! LOL! Wonder if anyone else is watching??? Mits? Ceil? Jim?
I was thinking the same thing, Lynn.
Hope she stays the night :)
She's bigger than Lib and as big as Belle.
How was her landing???
Loud!!!!
I was out mowing the front yard, came in and refreshed the blog...didn't quite see Palmer feetsies at the far end of the nest, once I saw over 50+ new posts, I knew!
Palmer must be full, Lib is eating now.
You know, I was so excited, but it was loud, her screaming and hitting the nest. It was funny! We could hear her before we saw her.
Can't wait to see her take off! Not that I want it to happen anytime soon, it's just that we've never seen her do it before.
Hi! I'm Joe and have been watching since Feb!
Paula, it was amazing! She came screaming in.
I read that in every post, LOlly...funny isn't it!
Hi Joe, welcome to the blog!
My friends and I have been calling him Lucky! Lucky for eberything!
Hi Joe! Welcome! Did you see Palmer coming in?
Now she is chirping away, wants some more bites. Man that is a big fish
You should have seen it before! LOL Adult, guess it was Lib, chowed down a long time before Palmer showed up. Then Palmer fed a long time before Lib came back.
How are you sure that it is a female?
I'm wondering from where she will take off... Like you say - we just don't know where Palmer's launch pad may be!
Joe - we can't be sure - she was never banded nor a DNA test done. Her size
leads us to believe it's female.
There went Lib off to the right.
Can't find Pammy Sue's picture.
She is bigger than the male, Lib, and as big as Belle. The female eagles are up to 30% larger than the males.
Lib poofed! Will Palmer stay? The drama continues....and Jack is still hungry. ☺
I think Pammy put her pic on the FB page
I really don't know if Liberty was feeding Palmer or if Palmer was just quick enough to grab the food from Lib before he could swallow it! lol
I am guessing that Wanda is with GG
Palmer almost looks like she is dozing off!
The couple of pictures I took are on the Facebook page I started. Just search for NCTC Eagle Cam.
Paula, I was gonna say the same thing. Poor thing is probably exhausted.
Juvinule eaglets have bigger wings than adults to help them fly. Those "baby" feathers make him look big!
Possibly this teeny bopper wills tay home tonight!!
Whew...thought I had lost my internet----thank goodness okay now!
Yes, they do have longer feathers, but she's larger than just her feathers, IMHO
Lucky girl, Lucky guy! Doesn'y matter. I wish I could fly!
I just think she is a sight for sore eyes--and gorgeous.
LOL I think we all wish that. it does look like we might have her for the night. She is probably exhausted.
Have started dinner. Jack will not starve.
Joe, some of us think male, others think female....same thing as last year!
Neither will my dogs, Lolly....they are fed and outside. I can eat my dinner in peace watching Palmer!
I put pics in the album.
She does look tired! Dozing off again...hope she's in for the night, but we may miss an early out in the morning...
And Boris is starting.......grrrrr.
Thanks P. Sue.
Palmer is Lucky! Lucky Palmer! Such great parents!
Shirley might see something in the a.m.
Aw, baby back in the nest :):):)
Lullaby, and good night...la la LAA la la la la...
Welcome Joe!
Shhhhhh...baby is sleeping.
Lullaby, and good night.
Go to sleep, little Palmer . . .
Over and OUT!
Hi, Joe. Glad you were able to share our special moments.
Spoke too soon. She's looking around.
OH, WHAT DO MY WANDERING EYES SEE?
I took a bath to get the mold spores off and sat down to catch up and was I ever surprised!
Oh, Happy Day:)
We might see a sleepy head bobble.
Sure she's wore out.
BEagle, click on my name and send me an email, so I can send you the bacon pasta recipe!
Maybe she wants Mommmy and Daddy to tuck her in.
She's at the back edge
I don't have ms outlook.
Is she going to fly?
No, Palmer. Do not leave! Stay and rest!
I added pics, too, to the album. LOL
Maybe not. None of the eagles fly from that spot, do they?
Facebook has quite a few pics on different persons profile pages & on the NCTC Eagle cam...
Jo and Sharon and Pam
and now I'm thinking in our E_M
album.......
Short naps are fun....oh, Palmer, please don't go!
I think she's there for the evening.
ATLANTA – June 15, 2010 – Zoo Atlanta officials confirmed today that Lun Lun, a 12-year-old female giant panda, was artificially inseminated on June 13, 2010. Spidey's web is beginning to show.
The WE twins are prettily silhouetted on their rock.
OOORAH!
I see Palmer has returned.
Did she crash land like some of the earlier eaglets, or did she float in like Heidi did, like a parachutist??
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Palmer, due to inclement weather, the air space around the NCTC is officially closed for the night.
You may resume normal flight patterns in the a.m.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
BEagle, are you on Yahoo Momster Mail group?
Both TH twins are in view. The oldest hasn't taken off yet.
Great Nilla commented on FB and now she knows.
Do you think that is from where she takes off!
Does anyone remember who the blogger was earlier in the year who worked for DNR in WV?
I only see two eagles at Caltrans
WHERE is DANA??????
Ceil read E_M email and responded!
Wanda, so glad you made it in time to see Palmer! Sure hope she's not going anywhere tonight!!
Dana had said on the blog this morning that she had an appointment in Virginia
today
Glad your back Hedgie!
Jim....she came in in a flurry of screams and screeches---don't think anyone paid too much attention to the landing. We were all just so excited and startled by her that I don't think anyone looked to closely until she was down! It was like Wings and Screams!
What great luck I have had tonight.
Came on to check email and Jo said Palmer had returned. Furiously tried to get the live cam and FINALLY did.
Beautiful Palmer. Hope she's home for the night.
Pam, is Craig home? Does he think we are all crazy?
Lynn, that might have been BEgal.
The blog reports that a Caltran eaglet has fledged.
Palmer hasn't moved much.
Hedgie. No.
Hedgie, unfortunately, Craig is already asleep. He gets up at 3:30 so he goes to bed very early.
The whole family was on the Hornby.
Not you, BEgal?...ooh, sorry!
I think he is going to stay the night! Get up at 4:30 and watch the take off:)
Was that one of the adults landing?
Did we ever get to see PALMER tuck her head under her wing to sleep?
Wish PALMER would fly up there and have spidey for dessert:)
Hedgie - DNA You mean the very nice young man with young children (with snotty noses lol)
I wish he would come on - I don't know any way to contact him.

I've only seen Palmer's head hiden when she was preening.
You don't need ms outlook, BEagle.
Very difficult to see Palmer on the live feed even though we know where she is standing.
Still cam is a little bit better...
Bless you, Palmer!
Time to switch to still cam I guess. Got to soak in the view.
and LOL Pam, good one!
No, Jo, it was a gal. Think you are referring to Jamie, wasn't it?
Pam, I'm sure between Palmer and you, Craig woke up!!!
Couple of adult calls
I put a (very poor quality) video that I shot with my cell phone on the Facebook page. It was Palmer not wanting to share dinner. lol
Paula, I know what BEagle means....it either pops up with MS Outlook and then tells me I don't have an account, or it brings up a box that says Windows Internet Explorer: "Could not perform this operation because default mail client is not properly installed."
I've had that on PC, netbook and laptop.
I have fed Jack. LOL Guess we will stay married a while longer.
Went to the still image, but it was no better, came back to video with sound.
I do believe we have an eagle for the night. Yea!
Hedgie, Craig lives in Winchester, so I would have to scream really loud to wake him up!
I live in Martinsburg - for now.
Jo, Jamie was in MO and worked with the guy who does the eagle counts along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers by plane.
I cannot make out anything in the nest.....is she still there, can anyone tell?
OH, OK Hedgie, mine brings up windows live...
BEagle, go to this page and send me a note with your email address
http://www.eagletmomsters.com/contact_us.html
Just got through to Norma - Of course I needed to start with the June 14 first flight before I could tell her about the return of Palmer this evening. She was excited.
This past Nest Visit per Norma made her
realized how much she misses us.
She may go and get a new PC since this old one hasn't been fixed.
Lolly, I'm glad Palmer did not come between you and your husband. lol
She's at 1ish, facing in, Lynn, last I could see
Oh, Pammy, sorry, I misunderstood!
Shar----is Thelma already asleep??? Did she see Palmer?? What about hard-working Sissy?
Oops...see Sissy WAS here....SO many posts, and reading too fast!!
Glo, are you saying you might have that awesome homecoming recorded?? That would be so cool.
And T-bird, too!!!! THink my eyes need a nap!
Hedgie, that's OK. They call me Mrs. Nail when I go to the bank for him. :)
Like Paula, the last time I saw her, she was at 1 o'clock.
Sweet Palmer. ♥
Yes, Lynn, I am always here, just not blogging too much! You guys are too much fun and I can't get away when I am working! (Plus, ya know, there's that pesky Facebook thang!!!)
I am heading to bed. One more day of work and then to Kure Beach!! Yay!
Is Palmer still in the nest?
Pam, went to FB and saw your video. It really is pretty good, considering how you got it. LOL
Everyone needs to see it on FB.
WOW Pam Your video is magnificent! I shared it over to my page so all my friends could see.
Thank you so much!
Yes, Glo, she is a typical teenager. Got her license to fly and then doesn't come home for 2 days?!? What are we going to do with that child?
LOL
I'm glad you guys liked the video. I wish I had gotten the little 'confrontation' from the beginning. Palmer had a BIG attitude. :)
Hey there Sissy Stay Focused
Pam I think we both pretty much taped just about the same thing. Your video is actually very good. I bet Lib and Belle have had an interesting couple of days with that young un LOL.
I am thinking that Megan is getting things ready to go to DC and pick up those flowers for the wedding she is doing this weekend. She wanted someone to ride shotgun with her - I don't blame her.
Remember that Megan won't be at Market this Sunday.........
Lisa BWE Webmaster responded to my email about Palmer....
So glad all is well !
Yea for Lisa! She is always there for us!
I think the shadow at the center top screen is Palmer.
Just a little off center.
Okay, I have some things I have to do tonight. So, I am going to leave this wonderful company for a while. Can not see Palmer anymore. She is probably sound asleep.
BBL
Yup, Beagle, the dark spot
Got it BEagle...check your email in a couple of minutes!
Pam, video was good!!!!
Lisa is always so thoughtful about our nest!
Does anyone know what sort of software I would need to record clips of the live feed? It's probably out of my price range, but . .
Paula knows.....something called Fraps....think you can download and try for free, right, Paula?
I use Snag It. Bought it 2 or 3 years ago now. It wasn't too expensive and is pretty easy to use. Not sure if Fraps works on this years cam or not but it used to work the first couple of years we had the cam on line. Then hte las tyear or 2 it would n't work for this server. They are both about $29 to $39 Probably a free trial so you can practice a bit and see if you like it before you buy it etc.
OK think I am going to call it a night here. Eyes need some rest but will leave cam on to listen til I go to bed. It feels so good to know she is on the nest tonight. WONDERFUL!
Thank you, Hedgie and Glo. :)
I will get right on that pasta dish.
Well, whenever my system returns to normal.
It looks very yummy. Thank you.
I bought Snagit for this year as well, I think it was either $30-$50...my other software program was free, but I was afraid it wasn't going to work on new computer.
I wonder how the bridge game is going.
Any Slams? Grand Slams?
Fraps is about the same price, I don't know if it works on our feed or not.
And I didn't use the free version of fraps, I used Screen Virtuoso, which I'm not sure if you can get for free anymore or not. I was having issues with the way it recorded the sound.
Yes, Snagit still has the 30 day free trial
Home late from work again, and I see I missed the party!! But so happy to know it went on!
:)
Dark blob at the top the nest, eh? That's maybe who I heard sneezing the other night!
By the way, if I may be so bold, I thought I might make a pronoun comment -
I'm a newbie this year so I never knew Deb, but I think that whatever the gender of this eaglet, Palmer represents a very special person to many of the people on this blog. I wish I had stuck with bridge and really learned it. Not too many play nowadays.
Paula, thanks for the software info.
Kickngbird, I agree that it is Deb Palmer's spirit that flies with Palmer. I am also a newbie and never had the opporunity to meet her.
Turning in early tonight. It was good to share PALMER'S homecoming with all of you:)
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
