Helen I have only been able to see two chicks standing pretty tall at Finney...what do you think? I checked the forum they are not seeing the 3rd on either
thanks for the Comet information Shirley, I don't do telescopes too well, am too shaky and no real observation point here but will sure look forward to a binocular view later in the month sometimes there are star watches over in Sharpsburg at the Antietam Battlefield, will watch for that too
from what I am reading on the Finney forums, they think the youngest has died, I only saw 1 chick this a.m. being fed, so don't know too much more, Margy
earlier I saw two parents briefly, then the two chicks... oh dear... it is a beautiful sight to see, those chicks and the ones at Loch of the Lowe's and Loch Garten are really doing nicely
Must share this one. A student, writing about Martin Luther King, said that King was accused of being an "outside alligator." Surely, she means agitator.
You did, Shirley you are busy so I will repost it here:

Because this is Comet McNaught's first visit, predictions of future brightness are necessarily uncertain; amateur astronomers should be alert for the unexpected.
Yes, Shirley, you could be another Erma Bombeck:) So many of our Momsters could write a book or have a coffee table book of photographs. We have some talented ladies and gents in our group!
PAMMY SUE, my Verizon internet was out when I first got up yesterday morning, too. Don't know how long it was out, but even 5 minutes is too long for me;)
Wanda, sorry to hear it was such a mess at GG's...didn't realize the extent of the water damage...glad the insurance company is on the ball. I think she should stay with you for a couple of days while the work is being done as well!
I just got a call from the cleaning people...the dumpster is on it's way. LET THE CLEAN-UP BEGIN! I'm so happy...thought it would be days before they got around to us!
Good morning! Found this on fb.....June 16, 2010 (9:00 AM CDT) No sign of Hope at the feeding station this morning. However, the trail camera reveled she had been there at 9:03 PM last night and was around for about half an hour. -- SM
Wanda that is great getting to it right away. Hope the storms stay away so they can get all the mess out of the basement. Then the mold and mildew clean up begins.
Shirley hope you will soon be enjoying some time off.
Andrea you sure have been a busy. busy lady. With all your studying and test. I think you need some time off too.
Diann I had seen some bruising on you Saturday and good tell you was still in some discomfort. Prayers they will be able to help soon and that you didn't damage the surgery you had.
Thanks for the update on Hope. Dr. Rogers is something else. Saying they are going to put up morecameras.
well dern. I don't think Palmer is still crashing too badly after a couple of days. I hope the sounds this morning mean they are all 3 in the area. I know lib and Belle have fed in the nest for a few weeks after fledge. it sure would be nice for that to happen. Will read posts tonight. Doesn't sound like there will be any fledge tape from NCTC. Not keeping camera on today . Got lawns to mow in between all our rain this week and major heat and humidity heading in tomorrow through weekend with some more storms. Gorgeous today. Knee is feeling better so going to try to do it all at one time and take it easy backing up with that mower. Thats the hard part now knee wise.
Magpie, I love the orange lilies. As a matter of fact, earlier this morning I was thinking of changing my avatar to a picture of them. :)
My live feed is not working.
My home phone is out and Verizon expects to have it working by the 21st. Good thing I have my cell. This area is switching from Verizon to Frontier, so things may be kinda hokey for a while.
Good Wednesday Morning Everyone. Just had to make a Palmer check. Nope~~~ Gotta run, but put my one so-so pic of baby osprey from yesterday on blog. Later, gators!!! ☺
Have read back on the blog. We certainly have night owls on the blog. Need a cam on them!☺
Saw where they were asking for cam suggestions...someone mentioned a "dam cam" to watch beavers. I would love that. Many a time while camping in Colorado we would hike a trail in the dark to go to a beaver dam. No luck!
Glad they are getting right to the basement, Wanda. Good luck getting GG to your house.
Good Morning All! Thanks for the new thread Steve - enjoy your trip - I'm glad we have an automatic switch! So many good reports of sounds but my live feed won't come up and that is like my alarm is turned off - can't hear those eagle wings or sounds. :<{
Happy Birthday Genie Jewell Hope all is well down there in FL Enjoy your special day and have a good year ahead
Yes, Sharon,Shirley and KB - I am glad you were night owls or should I say early birds and heard some encouraging sounds at the nest. When I first came in I also checked BWE nest and both the fledglings were in the nest side by side. So all of you rest assured -Palmer will return Soon I hope!
Wanda good luck with GG's Dr visit today. BTW Wanda - would you like to come over and water my flowers - I would love for a dumpster to be delivered to my house and have them clean out my basement! I know it isn't funny BUT do you see the Good Lord's plan in all this commotion. GG will come to your house and He only knows for how long - She will be where you can keep an eye on her and be there when she needs you. Bless you Wanda and Gene!

Was up kinda late last night, so getting a slow start this a.m. Coffee I.V., please!
Still no Palmer? Darn! Maybe today...would be a nice Birthday present for Jewell!
Margy, glad you like my avatar. It's a pic of a Black-crowned Night Heron. Not one I took (they're being very skittish lately), but found this one online. Looks exactly like ours. The eagles' nest may be quiet, but our big trees sound like a huge Pterodactyl convention lately! Not a moment's peace, 24/7! (Thank God, our ornery neighbor is not in evidence--they seem to be on vacation or something.)
Shirley, bet by tonight you will feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from your shoulders! Prepare to enjoy! Bet George was sticking close to you this morning because he could feel your stress with all the last-minute things to do. Bless his heart!
Oh--forgive my manners! Thank you, Steve, for the new thread. Enjoy your trip!
Wanda, happy to hear that the cleanup has started at GG's--hope all goes swiftly!
Well, have several errands to get done this morning, so better shower and hit the road running. Will check back a little later to see what's happening. Am actually glad I'm busy, so I don't worry about Palmer! Keep an eye out for her for me, OK? (Sure I don't really need to ask you!) Later, alligators! (I don't mean MLK Jr., I mean all of you guys!)--Good one, Shirley! LOL ;oD
oh wow lots on here Lolly, that was blessed timing....the trip to Alaska being canceled...glad no one was injured, and that the family could be together during that difficult time
What cake ??? what other goodies have I missed out on! I want to make a maraschino cherry cake - from scratch - for my birthday, not sure if I will or not, older sister Anne always took care of that for me in the past ! maybe I will go to Annandale for that ! And then see Judie....☺
thanks Andy, I was hoping you would tell me what your avatar is !
I swung by GG's - dumpster, very large, in the yard all righty!
Gene, Jillian, and what seems like a capable work crew downstairs...one very large water sucking machine going too.. GG looks and seemed fabulous! We visited until Wanda arrived for the doctor's visit. Wanda I am sure will talk more about it later...
Hello Debs. Have you stopped in before? Welcome. No one on the ground keeping us informed. Three Momsters have visited...with only one sighting...and that was of Palmer kind of smacking into a pine, but she was okay.
Thanks for the warm welcome; yep I am a newbie here :-) I have actively followed Belle and Liberty for two seasons now and have been glued to the cam since January :-) I actually report on this nest at HWF along with another member Bev and we have a great time watching Palmer!!
I would sure welcome some reports from the ground and I am sure you would too :-)
Paula :-) It is nice to be here. Thank you so much would be grand to hear about Palmer, Belle and Liberty! Bev and I are like ole mother hens just like you folks here!!
Paula Thank you!! Yes those sneeezes and shuggles were music to our ears!! Hope you are right and that Palmer is having the last laugh!! It seems strange to me that no meals have been served yet so wondering if Palmer is being fed elsewhere; is there a feeding platform or second nest in the area that Belle and Liberty perhaps use for post fledge meals?
We just had the storm here that NCTC is getting now
Hello Debs Yes, Bev....she was blogging with us around the time of the snowstorms and egg-laying! Good to see you here "E1" caught me off guard at first, now I get it ! Light Bulb! Please say hello to Bev for me...and you, keep right on coming back ! xo
Debs, we don't know of an alternate nest for this pair. I'm sure Belle and Lib have lots of perching places along the Potomac River, which is less than 1/2 mile north of the nest (behind the cam)
Thanks Paula I am glad there is no alternate nest or a feeding platform elsewhere that is great because Palmer will probably come back here quite abit in the next few weeks so we will get to enjoy her even more!!
Magpie it is kinda my own shorthand lol.
I am in and out so if I do not answer you will find me in the garden lol
not sure, did we really have hail, or just popcorn? can't multitask like Lolly and Wanda, get ready to leave and blog and watch... sure was nice to hear AND see that parent... hope you all see lots and lots more
If parents are in the area and all is well then Palmer is in the area too. Glad someone heard a sneeze yesterday ;-) I think they are trying to woo her back to the nest and she is still having none of it. She is as I think Dana said a free teen so they are bringing it too her. Wish she could understand how much we want to see her. Teens never do gt that part :-)
I have to admit it is hard for me to understand with all the folks at NCTC that no one is on this blog as a member and following this nest and its family as passionately as we. It is what it is but I can wish and keep wishing for it to change.
Afternoon!! Was able to get on (don't tell). Checking in on a Palmer sighting. Looks like there wasn't one, but she must be in area if Mom & Dad have fish!!! Gotta get back to work~~~~big, last minute jobs to do. They want it Fri. AM & I refuse to come in on TH, my day off!!!! BBL ☺
Heard a loud knocking noise---took about 10 seconds to realize it wasn't on TV. Rushed out and caught a downy woodpecker working on end-log at corner of house. ARGH! Chased him off----he better stay gone!
Squirrels are decapitating the many toadstools. Decide which ones they want to eat, and then munch away---make a crumbly mess!
Was watching an interesting weed that had large frond-like leaves and a cluster of what looked like flower buds......notice today that something ate off all the fronds! Probably deer, but possibly a rabbit.

John, my librarian friend said that the link has lots of excellent info. I have not had a chance to check it out.
I hope I included it. A bit rushed now. If I didn't I can get it.
Good morning again everybody. Sure do wish we would see a Palmer in our nest.

GOOD MORNING...
LOL, Shirley...King was an outside ALLIGATOR at times!
I just checked the weather report and,as Lynne said, we are probably going to have some strong storms this afternoon, maybe with hail.
Have a good time, Steve!
Yes, Shirley, you could be another Erma Bombeck:)
So many of our Momsters could write a book or have a coffee table book of photographs. We have some talented ladies and gents in our group!
LOL, Pammy! Wish it was as easy as calling her in!
Maybe if one of us stood under the Royal Sycamore with a fish in hand, Palmer will come crashing in:)
PAMMY SUE, my Verizon internet was out when I first got up yesterday morning, too. Don't know how long it was out, but even 5 minutes is too long for me;)
Thank you Steve for the new thread.
Good Wednesday Morning in Eagle Land to lots of Momsters. Too many to name I'm sure I would miss someone.
Shirley are you sure that student wasn't me "alligator for agitator" lol I try to remember to spell check but sometimes forget.
Hope we don't have hail. I have an afternoon appt. in Va.

Lolly are you like me? I had to turn on the speakers.... Thanks for the bear link
Checking to see if Palmer returned.
Thanks to Shirley for the wee hour updates.
Now I know it wasn't something I ate.
Temperature, aches and pains and ...
you know.
I feel really positive that Palmer will return probably when we aren't looking.
Hopefully maybe just one of us will be looking! But I agree that Palmer will just all of a sudden be there.....
BEagle hope you shake off that illness whatever it is..... Sounds like a virus
Late morning greetings. Still haven't read the new thread.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR JEWELL,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
God works in mysterious ways. My sister and brother in law were in their RV and heading to Alaska to be gone for three months. This was in July 4 years ago. They stopped at a gas station and another RV rammed into their tow vehicle and totaled it. They were fine, but RV was damaged as well. Trip was cancelled. Mother went into the hospital later that month and we lost her a month later. Dan and Sharon were with us and not in Alaska. PTL
Forgive me.
Thanks to the others with the updates also.
Is it thundering at the nest? Sounds like it.
It is sure to be an intestinal flu.
It's been one of those mornings.
Found out that a Dr. (chiropractor) who we had heard had died, didn't! He showed up at Bill's shop. In awful shape, but alive----which will shock his supposed/alleged girlfriend who was told he had died.
I slept thru' thunderstorm early this AM---guess I was the dead one!!
Learned that a former co-worker DID pass away----and found out where she's been all the years since she retired.....5 miles from where my mom used to live in FL.
Thanks.
Bleccchhh. Gotta go.
Thanks for callover, Mits!!
Shirley, hope your last day is truly your last day!! WooHoo---summmertime!!
Cool about the new astral sighting...never heard of it before!!
Saw posts about overnight noises....haven't finished new thread to see if anyone has seen any of our birds today.....but keeping my hopes up!
I am sure that Lib and Belle are teaching Palmer the fine art of fishing, squirrel hunting and a little turtling. : )
I just got a message in my mail. That I had not been into the Africam for a while. Which is true. They were letting me know that only during the day. They now have a live black eagle cam. Link below:
LIVE BLACK EAGLE CAM
Just the wind BEagle.. But makes you 'hop to' and check just to be sure!
JUST CLICK ON THE BUTTON TO LEFT THAT SAYS BLACK EAGLE CAM
Sound is not the best in the world on my laptop. I got on the computer Saturday while you were at the nest. All sound turned on!
Think I am going to head outside for a while before it gets any hotter.
Have a terrific day...and may Palmer grace all our screens!
LOL, Shirley......never heard a pacifist called an alligator!!!!

One more thing....has anyone checked Eagle School Road to see if Palmer is there?☺
Thanks Dana for the new link.
I'll watch it for awhile later.
Been thinking about Eagle School Road since I passed it on Saturday Lolly! LOL!
Pair of O's on Finney by the sea nest.

Hello My Missing Palmer Friends!!! No Palmer, sniff sniff. Just dropped in to say "Hello"
My first day out of school. I am going to have lunch with my youngest daughter. SMILE
Have a great afternoon. I will check in later. ttfn.
Thanks for the link to the Black Eagles, Dna---couldn't get cam to open and then I froze up completely! Will have to try it again.....
According to the notes on Finney's nest, the third chick disappeared a day after hatching ...
Don't believe I saw that one, and I'm not too sure how they can see it that well.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
BEagle, hope you get to feeling better. Are you at work or home?
Ragdoll....daughters rock!! Have a good lunch.
Well, either the second chick at Finney's has an elbow in a strange place, or I can see a little head bobbing up to the right of the others from time to time.
C(°Ù¿°)D Jim
Same thing happened again...guess I won't go there again....boo!
2 in nest at Finland.
I took a break for 2nd cup coffee and some toast (with honey and p-nut butter) and found my street clothes.
Now I hear raindrops at the nest....
Hedgie maybe try typing in browser
the Home site then you can go there.
Home site: http://new.africam.com/wildlife/index.php
Or: AFRICAM HOME SITE
Hope you feel better, BEagle.
Here's a funny news item: there is a shortage of road-striping paint. A Dow Chemical plant (producer) is down due to production problems, and there is increased demand due to federal highway projects.
No problem getting there, Dana. But as soon as cam page opens, everything freezes.
Sounds like a storm brewing at the nest. THought I heard some tapping a little while ago (like on the cam housing) but no one appeared.
Sure would be great to see a 'lunch bunch' in the nest!
Hedgie The cake is All Gone! Thanks so much!
Defintely looks like only 2 chicks at Finney now. :(
Getting some rain here in the valley.
Diann - I am eating lunch and just like you - I could eat the whole cantaloupe!
PammySue - I forgot about complaining of the weight gain that the high dosage of prednisone causes......
Ragdoll - Enjoy your lunch with daughter! You can even go shopping afterwards - you have no time lines!
Cam is sure buzzing and the wind is sure blowing. I do see a shadow on the nest from about 3 - 6:00. I am thinking it is a leafy branch...but
I wish it were an eagle.
Time to go over and see what FB has to say.......

Question for you all is there anyone from the ground providing updates on perhaps visuals of the family since Palmer fledged on Monday?
Look forward to your comments.
Hello Debs. Have you stopped in before? Welcome. No one on the ground keeping us informed. Three Momsters have visited...with only one sighting...and that was of Palmer kind of smacking into a pine, but she was okay.
Does anybody know how to contact Randy at NCTC to see if he has seen anything?
Thanks for the warm welcome; yep I am a newbie here :-) I have actively followed Belle and Liberty for two seasons now and have been glued to the cam since January :-) I actually report on this nest at HWF along with another member Bev and we have a great time watching Palmer!!
I would sure welcome some reports from the ground and I am sure you would too :-)
Carolyn just called---bad storm coming. Shutting down for now. BBL.
Keep safe Hedgie
Hi Debs, glad you could stop in.
I'll check and see if I have an email address for Randy, if I don't Sandy Burke might.
Paula :-) It is nice to be here. Thank you so much would be grand to hear about Palmer, Belle and Liberty! Bev and I are like ole mother hens just like you folks here!!
The most we have heard on cam is some calls, wing flaps and sneezes :)
I think they were Palmer sneezes :)
Emails sent...waiting for reply now...
Storm was mighty puny here. Much worse in southern part of county. And sounds like hail at nest......
We just had the storm here that NCTC is getting now
Hello Debs
Yes, Bev....she was blogging with us around the time of the snowstorms and egg-laying!
Good to see you here
"E1" caught me off guard at first, now I get it ! Light Bulb!
Please say hello to Bev for me...and you, keep right on coming back !
xo
sounds like popcorn popping at the Sycamore Palace...
Hello Afternoon Eagle Pals...
or, maybe morning, depending on how far West, or evening, depending on how far EAST !!
oh and sun at the nest
maybe a rainbow, maybe Palmer is at the end of the Rainbow !!
Sun back out now at nest as well as here. Wind still mighty strong there, tho'.
Hi Magpie :-) sorry if I confused you I tend to use shorthand for ething :-) Welcome back Hedgie and glad the storm was not too bad.
Hello All! We had downpour of rain but not a 'storm' Flowers will grow.
Hello Debs - glad to have you back with us. The only thing I have seen in our nest is that turtle shell!
Debs, we don't know of an alternate nest for this pair. I'm sure Belle and Lib have lots of perching places along the Potomac River, which is less than 1/2 mile north of the nest (behind the cam)
BEagle, I think you were asking about the Bacon Pasta recipe....Lolly just emailed it out, so send me your email address so I can forward it to you...
Debs, what is HWF?
Hope Shirley is home or on her way---bad storm in Culpeper.
Hope caught on the trail camera at the feeding station this afternoon. Pic on FB.
Hornby wide-angle cam fixed.
Lynn, HWF is Hancock Wildlife Forum
Oh I tried to learn shorthand once...the little characters and things, it was a disaster, like my first computer programming class !
I heard towhee, now I think I hear indigo bunting
The wind really fools you into thinking it is Eagles' Wings!
One of these times it will be!
Good news about Hope! I hope June keeps moving onward and doesn't come back.
Almost time for me to head out!
Ally - dinner - home for a play date!
I don't want to miss any homecoming but
I sure hope Palmer returns for a while. She should be a tired gal!
I hated computer programming class....COBOL, yuk!
Yes, it will be Jo...
got my fruit salad and cantaloupe packed and ready
oh, I got a scarecrow for my garden it is all
of 6-inches tall!
LOL
will check back one more time before scramming for that 12-hour shift
Best wishes for a good afternoon, or whatever it is wherever everyone is....
and Shirley....hope the traveling down thataways is going okay
adult in the nest!!!!
OK - a parent !!!
Looks like Lib, think he has a fish
Mom's back!
Gone! to the right
That could be daddy-o!
Lib took off with fish in talons.
Hello eagle peeps.
Well, it was something which is usually better than nothing.
Sure am wishing to see Palmer!
BBILW
Sorry had to pop out for abit multitasking here.
Was great seeing Mom in the nest!!
Well it worked - I left my seat -
in they came......
I am going again......... THIS TIME
I am hoping it is Palmer.....
I think that if they didn't know where Palmer was, they would have sat in the nest waiting. I think Lib took the fish to Palmer.
Thanks, Paula....duh! Shoulda figured that one out myself!
DOWNPOUR
So that is the 2nd parent sighting since fledge---that I know of, anyway.
Another downpour----?more hail?
not sure, did we really have hail, or just popcorn?
can't multitask like Lolly and Wanda, get ready to leave and blog and watch...
sure was nice to hear AND see that parent...
hope you all see lots and lots more
so long now
God Bless Us, Every One
xo ♥
let's all go to the loo, that might help!
xo okay bye
BBL ☺
DOH! I missed it!
I'm glad one of them was spotted in the nest, though. :)
I think we should give Palmer a curfew. He/she needs to be 'home' by 8 p.m.
Heard a loud knocking noise---took about 10 seconds to realize it wasn't on TV. Rushed out and caught a downy woodpecker working on end-log at corner of house. ARGH! Chased him off----he better stay gone!
Frito Pie in oven for dinner. Anyone coming??
Rain stopped, sun out.
Good evening all! Once again there is NO RAIN HERE.
Hedgie, Frito pie sounds yummmy.
Margy has jumped right in to work....hope it's not TOO busy for her tonight.
I was supposed to give my email to someone for the Momsters group . . .
Who was that again?
Yes, Pam, it IS yummy! Was always a childhood favorite.
Either Paula or Mema Jo, Pam. Or you can give it to me. Don't post here! Click on a blog name and then on their page click on "email" icon.
Hi!
I'm free!!
Will be going out to play bridge tonight.
The kid who wrote about the alligator also wrote about a "peaceful riot."
I need to get going to my game. See you later.
Bye.
No sign of Palmer at the nest.
Lynn you have mail
I ran ahead of a storm all the way home. I am afraid it will catch me on the way to bridge tonight. I hope not.
Maybe Palmer will be here by the time I get home.
Yay! I can sleep in tomorrow.
I don't have Outlook set up on my computer, and I can't figure out how to do it so I can send someone my email address . . .
Pam, send it to Paula through a message on Facebook.
Alrighty then! I sent Paula a message on Facebook.
WHOO HOO Shirley
You made it with flying colors
