Latest osprey blog 22 June 2010 3pm update Our mum continues to do well today, feeding her chicks and herself. There have been 6 (I think!) fish brought by the Laird today and he seems happy to leave mum to do all the feeding once more. Can he sense that his mate has recovered? As happy as we all are at the improvements she has made, we know that she is still no where near 100% and probably will never be again. Hopefully she can regain some of the body mass she has lost to keep her going for the next few weeks. If her episode was caused by an illness then there is a possibility that she may relapse, but I am staying positive that she will see her chicks fly and then she can rest easy. I think that regardless of what happens, this will be her final summer on the nest, but what a season she has given us! Fiona
Interesting . . . I bought some of those birdseed with peppers that are supposed to repel squirrels. A squirrel just checked it out and did not seem to like it at all. He found the sunflower seeds and went for them.
I couldn't get that Scottish site's video to work yesterday and never got to see the Lady, down or up and recovering; but I'm glad she's doing so much better now.
Who knows, since she doesn't know anything about how long Ospreys can live or breed or how long she's been at it now, she might show up again next season.
Thanks S.H., I'm fine this A.M. ... Got some bananas last eve and had one with breakfast this morn. I like bananas, and I always feel better after having one.
Now, if I could just remember to get a little piece of chocolate to go with it, I would think I was in heaven.
Thanks Steve for the new thread. Remember I'd like to see some pictures of your trip on you blog.
Good Eagle Morning our flower lady Megan, Jim and Ceil (our lady of the aquarium).
66 yrs.old (eyes open wide here) ok I know some people are NUTS!!!
Shirley I tried that and it worked for awhile then the squirrel just decided to go on and eat it.
I transcribed when I transferred from Veterans Hospital in Baltimore to Veterans Hospital in Martinsbug. That was not what I was doing in Baltimore. Had never done transcribing but they put me there and was right along with the top gals.
That is why I don't understand all that Shirley is having to go through?????
I can only say with that piece of news about the 66 yr old that I am thankful it is her heirs and not mine... I'll take great grandchildren and that's all I want.
HELLO Megan! Happy the wedding is finished and you did beautiful work! More pics please...
Need to get outta here. See how GG is today and tend to Soup Kitchen: ROATED PORK SANDWICHES BEAN SOUP CORN ON THE COB PEACH COBBLER COFFEE, TEA AND LEMONADE Gene is doing all the cooking today. The rest of us will clean up after him and wash his gazillion pots and pans;)
Have a great day♥

Not long ago, I had someone impatient behind me. (Yes, I am old and careful. Being careful is how I got old.) I kept telling myself that if I had pulled out in front of that school bus the way the other driver wanted me to, the debris from the crash would have delayed her far more than she was being delayed by waiting for me. But she was too dumb to realize that.
Good morning everybody. Figured I had better check in. I am in Scott Depot with my boy to celebrate his 21st birthday. Where in the world does time go??? We went to a DCI competition last night in Charleston and it was wonderful. Had the pleasure this morning of hearing my boy play Stairway to Heaven on the piano. Life is pretty daggone good. Going back to Bedford tomorrow.
Hi, Gang! Oooh, Lolly! Hope you guys in TX get some cooler weather SOON!
Dana, my next "break" from school is Monday, July 5th. Am trying to get through school asap so I can get a job. Going for a diploma instead of just a certificate, so there are more requirements.
Yum, Shirley--LOVE strawberries! If I lived closer to you, I'd be right over with some shortcake to go with those berries!...we students try to stick together, and will get notes to each other to help out. We might need help ourself sometime! It works well for me, because it's a good way to study for the test.
Thanks, Lynn. Yup, working on my second LARGE mug of coffee here. Have fun at lunch! :o]
Ahhh....got the class notes all done and e-mailed to Danielle.
Shirley and Judie, an interesting bit of info--last night right before class, one of the young students sitting behind me (who sounds like a "Valley girl") said, "I don't give a s___ about this f___ing class." Good illustration of what you two, and our other educators here, are up against--God bless you! Enjoy your summer to the MAX--you've earned some R&R! (Please pardon my French--tried to clean it up a bit!)
You were right, S.H. Lisa has a link to Loch of the Lowes, but it was a "dud end" on FireFox. But as soon as I opened my old, clanky Explorer 6, the live feed opened up lightening quick.
Isla is really looking like she's going to come through her bout with disease in fine order.
That's really a beautiful site, especially in full screen...they panned the loch a bit too...really beautiful.
I like the picture quality of the new provider at TH and WE.
Both eaglets are still perched on cam at TH. But you can only see one at PH right now...the younger one. But I think it's too early for the other one to have fledged yet.
Well, I am in for the day, showered and clean. It is presently 95 and I worked until an hour ago. I was dirty with sweat in my eyes. YUK!
Andy, how did you manage to stay quiet after the "valley" girl said that? I would have been so tempted to say something. And, I would not have been polite about it!
I have been wondering...what is a "Roated Pork Sandwich". ☺ Never had one!
Annie seems to be doing well. She favors her paw a little, but not limping like she was. We let her go outside today for the first time. Her meds are still a pain to give her and she certainly does not like it. She is getting back to normal for Annie. Still have decisions on what meds we will continue to give her.
Hi, Gang, Well, the dishwasher is running, the 2nd load of wash is doing, the dryer is drying, and the house is straightened up. Boy, giving me TWO big mugs of coffee is downright dangerous! Currently attempting to downshift a bit.
Yes, I CERTAINLY agree that the brat needs an attitude adjustment! I nearly gave her one, but that very instant the teacher came in the room and began taking attendance. He's such a tough teacher that I'm pretty sure she'll be weeded out before long. Lolly, so glad Annie is improving!
Have to wonder a bit about a 66-year-old who'd go to a fertility clinic, too--can't believe that they would actually agree to treat her, either! There's a good reason that women have fertility problems at that age! Duh! (I know that Sarah was much older than THAT, but things were much different in those days!)
Lynne, that's wonderful that Dinky has grown some legs! Overnight?! Gosh, he's really catching up quickly!
Well, need to go water patio plants and fill bird feeders again, before it's even warmer outside. Will be back in a while. Have the sound turned up high so I can hurry back if Palmer comes screaming in!
Hi! Back again. Checked the LOL cam a few minutes ago, and Isla was feeding the chicks a fish. Her mate brought another fish in, and she has taken it. He flew off. Now Isla is eating that fish, with her back to the chicks. Glad to see that she's no longer fasting!
Andrea.... great commentaries, like the way you and your fellow friendly classmates with GOOD attitudes help each other out You really seem to have a handle on time management !
I had read in one of the Loch's posts about one of Isla's missing talons...and how Peter was able to zoom into the nest and see it...
wonder when she lost it and if that would have had any effect on her health? kind of reminded me of Lolly's Annie's ailment with her sore paw...just wondering
can't wait to get off these 12-hour shifts...just not enough time to enjoy everything on here...
also occurs to me, I can scoot up to get James in time to come down for Soup Kitchen on a Tuesday...gotta have some of that Roated Pork ~ ! We are not homeless...or without resources...but we sure will benefit from the fellowship, and will help clean up afterwards with all those pots and pans
hope Lynn is enjoyng her time with her daughter today...bet she is !
Lynne - loved all your pictures, going to go check out the nest visit ones next!
wanted to say, the pic I posted of Sophia that Jo sent me...does not do justice to the pure delight she seemed to be experiencing...there were others....of the brothers.... true children of nature out there at their homeplace... thanks for visiting my pics xo
Dinky is Lynne's tadpole. Not sure if Dinky is a he or a she. Was the "runt of the litter", and his/her growth spurt has helped to catch him/her up to those many siblings.
Don't worry--you're not missing anything right now. Our nest is currently MT! Still can't imagine why you can't get the live cam! Just crazy!
Happy to say that Isla has been eating more. Bet her appetite will increase now. Sure hope so, anyway.
Hi, Margy! Good to see you here! Hope you had a good rest. Not sure I have a handle on time management. Just have to keep going and not stop! So much to do! BTW, love your pictures! Those slugs back there had better run from Dinky--my Grandma's toads used to eat slugs!
The story about the woman getting arrested for her impatience was really good. The cop was the best.
The knickers? I looked and looked and finally decided it was the underpants being referred to. Maybe the person that lost them will see the website and recognize them. :)
Thanks for the posts on Isla. Sounds like things are going back to normal for her.
Sorry, I missed you Margy. They said Isla lost that talon about a month ago! They don't think that it affected her.
I would love to have some toad eating slugs around, I hate those things! Found a couple in the shed out back and put them on the shed ramp for the birds to pick off...they did!
I agree, Judie! That goofy stick is freaky looking. When nobody's in the nest they should go up there in a cherry picker and get rid of the doggone thing.
Checked out the link for the Red Kites - their underside marking are so beautiful! Paul, I could not find the knickers and I know I looked at all pics under all tabs!
Judie - the LOL stick looks like it was make out of Pipe Cleaners..... Spooky describes it very well......
Great afternoon out! Stinkin' hot----but I'm NOT complaining.......it beats 82" of snow!!!! It was 97 when I was coming home. Stopped at local Dr's. office (my oncologist retired last week and "released" me to return to my former doc that he basically stole me from)to see if he could take me back: YES----thank goodness he takes my new insurance!!!! Thankful that Isla reports still sound positive. Margy, I wondered this AM if the broken off talon could have caused an infection---very likely possibility in my professional opinion! Need to check out Lynne's pics.
Paula, saw the pics of you wit the butterfly on your arm----that was your Mom or Dad visiting you. Have you ever heard that before? A butterfly landing on you is supposed to be a deceased parent checking on you. I would venture to say, if your folks are alive, that it could be ANY person or animal we are close to who has crossed over.
Hee Hee - I just saw the little loony get up on the nest raft with his mom. This is a different breed of loon as the one in MN is the common Loon and the little ones are pure black. This one in AK is greyish and white and is a Pacific Loon.
Shirley - More Triplet News: A mother gave birth to her daughter's triplets.. She will be the grandmother of the triplets. For medical reasons her daughter could not bear children.
Our weather radio has not been working for awhile because it had lost its signal. Will moved it around the house until he found a signal. Now it is in the living room, and it has gone off twice this afternoon.
Evening Everyone! Paula, you should get rain!!As soon as I got home, watered everything & went back adding more mulch to eack pot. Came in to put food in oven & it's raining!!!!☺ Whoopee! Saw Isla this AM (theirs) & she was waiting for breakfast. Got the blow by blow from Chrissy & she said chicks were so stuffed from later feedings, they turned their backs on Mum! Our little baby osprey on Park cam is even larger than Sat!!Mom became an umbrella this afternoon. Gotta check food~~~
Dana just called. She had a situation where she "tapped" her laptop and it died. Everything is black. She has to send it back to the company----possibly 12 days without. She doesn't know if PC works since Comcast did the wireless modem
Oh Dana, I'm sorry. I guess I missed your email. Well, at least I'm not the only one who thinks that things loos spooky. Sorry, again.
Lynn, happy you can go back to your doctor. It always seems more comforting to have someone who knows you as more than a chart stuck outside an exam room door.
Always was told a butterfly landing on you means good luck. You are doubly lucky, Paula.
Brief rain shower here. One thunder boomer. Over quickly.
Even if I can't get the live cam to see Palmer, I do have some good news. My request to teach only the crime course this Fall was granted. No doubt, bossy was told that if he denied me and it is a medical request there could be a law suit. I wouldn't but I bet that's what happened. Don't care. Don't care. Happy. Happy. Will have only 100 undergrads and then police in Nov-Dec.
Oh, sent an email to the arson detective/former student and he responded. Now arson/homicide major cases. Offered to talk to my students about the case. That is so nice.
ARGH---just realized that I forgot to go to drug store to pick up Rx's and to Auto Zone to pick up a gas additive for mower! My trip home got messed up when I had to get gas and then changed my route to drop off carpet samples to Bill that Christie was returning. Back out I go tomorrow.
Lynn, will be saying 911 prayers for Carolyn. I know you both are very excited about this. Remind her to tell them she is an expert at tracking down slugs on the lam.
Lynn, please let Dana know we'll be waiting for her to get back with us. Hope it's really soon.
Lolly, so glad you and Jack enjoyed your anniversary dinner.
Wanda, when you come back, I want you to know that the soup kitchen menu sounded yummy. Love roast pork sammiches - a favorite is pulled pork with coleslaw.
Oh, Judie----HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!! They DO appreciate you! So glad you got what you needed and wanted! Super! Just remember---no late classes on Oct. 22!!!
So nice of your former pupil to offer to do a presentation for your class! Take him up on it!!
I, too, love pulled pork sammiches with cole slaw ON the sandwich! Last time I was at the beach, friend fixed both: I piled my roll high----bit in and the cole slaw was made with grated BROCCOLI---YUCKO! So I ended up with plain BBQ!
BEagle I agree that those are no where near Knickers - they are plain old rotten underwear! lol Paula, I never would have found what you were speaking of even if I flipped through all those pictures 50 times.. I was looking specifically at each nest expecting to find them.
Hi Ragdoll. Enjoy the fun week with the grandson. I'm told it goes by all too quickly.
Oh Lynn, so gross to even think about broccoli on pulled pork. Coleslaw ON the pork with a dash of hot sauce or maybe some bbq sauce and a nice soft bun.
I always think of Ben Hogan when I think of knickers. Knickers were the "golf outfit" back in the day.
Almost time for Cold Case or, if a rerun, another crime show.
Yep, UK speak for underpants IS knickers. My Scots grandpa said it all the time...as in 'don't get your knickers in a bundle!" The American idea of knickers is exactly like the old-time golfers wore (thinking way back even to Bagger Vance!).
Deb, so glad you are enjoying your grandson! Do you get to see him often? Diann, is Max still with you?
Oh, my! Got ready for bed, including brushing my teeth and then Jack offered me home made ice cream with maple syrup and pecans on top. Guess I will brush my teeth once more!!!
I am ready for bed, except for brushing my teeth again, so I will say good night!
Oh my goodness. Shirley has waaaaaay too much time on her hands now that school is out -- knicker pictures she can't put on the blog? Oh my!
Got away from saying it but used to tell students not to get their knickers in a twist and, in return, I got some really funny facial expressions.
Speaking of which, I am taking my knickers off to find the sandperson. So, turning my light out but leaving the night light on for others. Andy, please set our alarm for us AND hoping you got your exam grades tonight -- all As, of course.
I have been watching LOL for awhile...both chicks are there, sounds like Isla is nearby....it is 5 in the morning there, Peter and Fiona may have taken some time off to get some rest and are not manning the cams.

I guess the little ones are full. They are letting Momma Osprey eat.

Sixty-six year old woman gave birth to triplets! Yikes! In India. She went to a fertility clinic. Wanted heirs.
Mits good words from Peter
Shirley that is amazing. Crazy but amazing.
Yes, they are good words, Mits. Thanks for sharing them.
I can tell you, I am not quite ready to have more babies. I want more grandchildren, but not more children.

Mable is another name for her, too
It is Andrea that is going through the transcribing school, Dana. I have to think the requirements are different in California.
Good Late Morning.... Kristen is here with me.... Cleaned out my emails....
Checked on Isla and our MT nest except for 2 great looking turtle shells!
I can only say with that piece of news about the 66 yr old that I am thankful it is her heirs and not mine... I'll take great grandchildren and that's all I want.

I love that story Wanda - sorry to say it is true... Our actions speak louder then words!
Funny story with a serious message, Wanda.

I usually have to say a prayer for impatient drivers - mainly that they don't cause injuries to others in their travels.
Shirley - that saying is great!
"I am old and careful. Being careful is how I got old. Love it & hope I can remember it!
I am about to go get my traveling street clothes on! I will check out the cams and bbilw to let you know I am walking out the door!

Happy Birthday, Andrew:)
OK, at long last, I have posted the Nest Visit pictures!!!

Margy, love the artists palettes except the stink bugs! Your slugcrow is pretty cute!
Almost out the door
Take care
Touch base when I return.......
Lynne, great set of nest visit pics, love the kids pretending to drive the EE.
Nice pics of the wood frogs, haven't hatched any tadpoles since I was a kid.
The bluebirds were really cute. I love the way the parents carry out those "poop sacks".
Looks like Isla was eating at LOL, chick just grabbed a big hunk, lol
Saw one earlier with a very large crop!
Isla took off a couple of minutes ago., oh she's back!
guess what...DINKY GREW SOME BACK LEGS OVERNIGHT!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREW!!! Hope your day is FANTASTIC!!!
Hi, Jim,
Isn't it just fantastic how well Isla is doing? That is a really beautiful site. Mighty grateful I've not had a problem getting that one.
Well, gotta get busy and do some housework. Have a good afternoon!
I'll check in later. :o]
(Still can't get over the rotten attitude--and language--of the Valley girl in my class. What's wrong with some of the young people today?! WOOF!)
Glad you were able to get it, Jim.
Wouldn't think someone with her attitude would be very successful in the classes you have described, Andy.
I like the picture quality of the new provider at TH and WE.

Hello all.
Lynne, I just went and looked at your pictures--very nice. I love the fact that you rescued the egg mass. :)
I am glad that Isla continues to do well.
Wanda, I love that story you posted. It reminds me of one of my favorite expressions is "Sitting in the hen house doesn't make you a chicken."
Stronghunter, I also love the idea that being careful is how you get old. :)
And a Happy Birthday to Andrew!
Well, I am in for the day, showered and clean. It is presently 95 and I worked until an hour ago. I was dirty with sweat in my eyes. YUK!

Lolly, how is Annie??
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW!!
Happy birthday, Andrew!

LOL - y7 just brought in another fish, he sure is a good provider.
Daddy Osprey arrived with a fish. It was still flopping. Isla grabbed the flopping fish and is feeding the little ones.
They are zoomed in on the feeding now.
Lovely osprey family scene.
Hi, Gang,

Someone on the LOL provided this link, they were talking about all the stuff these birds bring into their nests.
Really neat site, another comeback story in the UK, they tag and band them as well.

Can you find the knickers??
Hi!
Back again. Checked the LOL cam a few minutes ago, and Isla was feeding the chicks a fish. Her mate brought another fish in, and she has taken it. He flew off. Now Isla is eating that fish, with her back to the chicks. Glad to see that she's no longer fasting!
Thanks, Paula, for the link to the kites. Beautiful birds! Those knickers are a little worse for wear.
Just wondering--has anyone found an update today about Hope? I've lost many of my favorites, and can't find it.
Has Palmer made a daytime re-appearance today?
Good Afternoon Eagle Pals ☺
Andrea.... great commentaries, like the way you and your fellow friendly classmates with GOOD attitudes help each other out
You really seem to have a handle on time management !
O in the nest at Finland at sunset
Lynne - loved all your pictures, going to go check out the nest visit ones next!
wanted to say, the pic I posted of Sophia that Jo sent me...does not do justice to the pure delight she seemed to be experiencing...there were others....of the brothers....
true children of nature out there at their homeplace...
thanks for visiting my pics
xo
Happy 21st Birthday to Andrew...very special day wishes to you, AND your family xoxo
thanks Megan for the full moon alert for June 26 AND the name, Strawberry Moon...perfect name for this time of year
Happy Birthday, Andrew. Hope you and mom are having a nice day.
Dinky grew legs? Okay, is Dinky a slug? If so, he/she is going to need legs to get out of Margy's town.
Still trying to catch up. Checked on Isla and she was feeding the chicks.
Can't get the live cam. Still cam says MT nest.
BBL
great pictures of the nest visit Lynne...
also, your Mountain Laurel on your avatar...finally, you found it!
a long-lost friend
time to get ready for work, still have links and pics and videos to check, maybe Wednesday...
Best wishes for a great afternoon...bet there will be another Squealing fest on the nest later on
ttfn xox
keep your eye out for some baby bibs Judie
just in case Scareslug cannot keep up here
xo
Hi, Judie!
That soup kitchen menu sure sounds tempting! YUM! Wish I lived closer!
Hello to all the sluggers.
I knew Margy would appreciate the slug fest!
Dinnertime.
yuck...99°here now....not fun:(
Helen,
So sorry it's so very hot! Sounds miserable. If I were where you are, I'd run through the sprinklers!
sounds like a plan, but my sprinkler does not work anymore...just pulled all the shades at windows and hypernate like it is winter;)
Phoenix is out on the edge. Good thing momma is close by.
Don't see anything at the TH nest. One chick in view at PH and both at WE with an adult.
The ocean is looking cool and refreshing!
The pond or lake or whatever at the loon nest in Alaska is really looking good.
Anyone else think that stick thing at LOL looks like a prehistoric lizard? Spooky looking.
Ah, Dinky the tadpole. Now growing legs makes sense to me. Thanks.
Sounds as though you would like to go for a swim, BEagle --- I'm right there with you;
I was home at 4:00 but went right to my recliner and put up my feet!
Checking out the cams & see our MT nest. Need to read some comments...
Sorry, I missed you Margy. They said Isla lost that talon about a month ago! They don't think that it affected her.
I would love to have some toad eating slugs around, I hate those things! Found a couple in the shed out back and put them on the shed ramp for the birds to pick off...they did!
Yep, Helen,
Been there, done that more than a few times! ((Hugs))!
I agree, Judie! That goofy stick is freaky looking. When nobody's in the nest they should go up there in a cherry picker and get rid of the doggone thing.
Do cherry pickers reach that high?
Not sure. The stick looks rather Gothic to me.
Well, gotta find dinner and get ready for school. Will check back much later. Ta ta for now! :o]
Back and glad to be home.
Judie don't you remember the email I sent around to the eagle group of Loch of Lowest stick. Had a horses like head and extra feet?
That nest is too high for a cherry picker to reach. Same as ours it only goes up so far. Nu had to climb rest of way. Loch of Lowes is even higher.
Birds eat slugs? Gosh I hope the birds don't get indigestion. I need to lure the birds with pepper tossed birdseed.
Checked out the link for the Red Kites - their underside marking are so
beautiful! Paul, I could not find the knickers and I know I looked at all pics under all tabs!
Judie - the LOL stick looks like it was make out of Pipe Cleaners.....
Spooky describes it very well......
HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, ANDREW!!! Your momma is VERY proud of you! Would love to hear you play in person!!
MT nest, maybe they are going to eat out tonight?
Jo, the knickers are in the picture at the bottom of the page link I gave you
Enjoyed your pics, Lynne!
The kite nest adornments were a hoot! Wonder if anybody missed their briefs?!
Enjoyed seeing all your pics of our get together, Lynn!
I just committed myself to watching at 10pm the Law & Order!
HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ANDREW. Seems just yesterday he graduated from High School now almost through college.
The only thing I see at the very bottom of Red Kite is Red Philip.
None of my pet toads ever ate slugs----snails, yes, if out of the shells.
I think BEagle needs a pool---or a trip to a body of water!
Hee Hee - I just saw the little loony get up on the nest raft with his mom.
This is a different breed of loon as the one in MN is the common Loon and the little ones are pure black. This one in AK is greyish and white and is a Pacific Loon.
Paula I will look again... I think I was looking too hard!
Shirley - More Triplet News: A mother gave birth to her daughter's triplets.. She will be the grandmother of the triplets. For medical reasons her daughter could not bear children.
I was thinking of visiting the loon nest. Just hop over and tread a little.
Looks like Boris visits the loon nest too.
I saw that little chick. It must be cold there, using the feather blanket.
Looks peaceful at the nest. Severe thunderstorm warning here. Looks like it will hit soon.
I kind of hope my daughters do not ask me to do that for them. I've already given birth to twins. It was a challenge.
Just got the answer to the bonus round of Wheel of Fortune--GROUP HUG. Too bad the contestant missed it.
I hear our eaglet!!!
Palmer is near!
Oh. The PH nest cam zoomed out and now I have a nice picture of their nest and how it is situated.
They must be expecting these to hedge really soon.
"....expect them to FLEDGE really soon..."
Raining here. I was thinking I should go water plants. Maybe I won't need to.
I hear her, too!
Probably above the nest.
I hear Palmer
Knickers - look in the picture with the England flag...they are a man's pair of briefs!
I just cam in from watering the plants in the back yard.
HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY Andrew
Sharon - I know how proud you are of your son and I guarantee you that your son is very proud of you, his mom!
Taking a break....... BBILW
Another severe thunderstorm warning.
The last storm did not amount to much.
A little rumble of thunder. A little rain.
Our weather radio has not been working for awhile because it had lost its signal. Will moved it around the house until he found a signal. Now it is in the living room, and it has gone off twice this afternoon.
Lynn, I hadn't heard that about butterflies...it visited twice :)
Evening Everyone!
Paula, you should get rain!!As soon as I got home, watered everything & went back adding more mulch to eack pot. Came in to put food in oven & it's raining!!!!☺
Whoopee!
Good news!!!! Carolyn has the 2nd interview with 911 center on Fri.!!!! Please pray.
Prayers for Carolyn and congrats on getting a second interview.
Dana just called. She had a situation where she "tapped" her laptop and it died. Everything is black. She has to send it back to the company----possibly 12 days without. She doesn't know if PC works since Comcast did the wireless modem
Hi all! Jack and I went out to eat. This was our anniversary celebration. Had a delicious dinnetr at Nona Tatas, our favorite place.
T
Whoops! Typo!
Off to chill for a few minutes. BBL
Looks like Palmer has been out of the nest all day.
Judie, fantastic that everything for you is working out so well.
Heard Palmer a second ago. He is close.
Doing a Margy.
Hi Lowreeda.
I really am going to put my feet up this time.
Oh, Judie----HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!! They DO appreciate you! So glad you got what you needed and wanted! Super! Just remember---no late classes on Oct. 22!!!
Hello My Eagle Friends...I miss you all. I haven't forgotten about you. I have been right out straight. Not working out straight.
This weekend was a fun weekend. I have my Grandson with me all this week, so we have been playing.
He will start summer rec. next week, but for this week he's all
mine. Six is a fun age. LOL
It's going to take me forever to catch up on my reading.
I hear some banging . . .
Knickers are pants that are cropped at the knee.
Unless, the Scots have their own definitions.
I have returned as it has been a little while....
Judie Congratulations on getting just what you wanted! That was
a great response from your past student! Take him up on it.
Lynn Such good news for Carolyn! 2nd interviews is a very good sign!
Sorry Dana is having problems. Hope they can be resolved quickly.
Deb Have a great week with gs & yes age 6 is great - you can have good conversations!
Diann I hope Max & you are having a blast!
Yay, Judie! So happy you got what you wanted. You have surely paid your dues. You need to be able to enjoy your job.
Lord only knows what the Scots call knickers. I was looking for cropped pants, too, BEagle.
BEagle I agree that those are no where near Knickers - they are plain old rotten underwear! lol
Paula, I never would have found what you were speaking of even if I flipped through all those pictures 50 times.. I was looking specifically at each nest expecting to find them.
According to Merriam Webster:
Main Entry: knick·ers
Pronunciation: \ˈni-kərz\
Function: noun plural
Etymology: short for knickerbockers
Date: 1881
1 : loose-fitting short pants gathered at the knee
2 chiefly British : underpants
Great that your former student will come back to talk to the class, Judie.
To the Scots I would say Kilts..
PammySue - did anything become of the banging you heard this evening as I did watch a TV show......
I am thinking Palmer is in the
nest - Is She???
Yes kilts.
The cropped pants, I was thinking, were the buckled or buttoned at the knee. We use elastic to gather them at the knee.
The length is like the gauchos only not full...and cropped at the knee.
When you put knee high boots on over long pants it give the same effect.
Jo, I did not hear or see anything of Palmer, but I was in and out. I'm sure she is close, though.
...it GIVES the same effect...
Forgot to say how much I like your thing about getting old by slowing down, Shirley! Applies to more than just driving!
Andy, your cocky young classmate sure needs a come-uppance.
Did Palmer make it back to the nest for the night?
BBL
I do have Scottish ancestors.
I suppose Chrissy would know about the British idea of knickers. We do speak the same language, mostly, but only mostly.
It's a beautiful morning in Finland; water is smooth as glass at Fin Ferry, and sun is bright on mama's face at Finney!
Doing another Margy!
Forgot to tell Andy her valley girl classmate is one of the main reasons I am so tired of teaching. Attitude and more attitude.
Not light yet at LOL, but the prehensile-looking stick thing is shining bright! One chick is awake and acting as if bugs are bothering it!
But now we know what the bloomers were called in the Red Kite web pic.
: )
Well, golly gee. "Knickers" refers to women's lingerie, among other things. That leads to some interesting pictures when you do a web search.
Following Judie in to watch a TV crime show
Law & Order- Criminal Intent
Not my most favorite actors but I like the story content.
BBILW
Do ye ken?
Does the water at Fin Ferry look cool and refreshing?
Oh My!!! I will never be able to catch up on reading. So tired my eyes keep trying to cross.
It's a work out keeping up with a six year old. I think I am going to watch some TV then hit the hay.
Have a good evening all.
Prayers for all needs and wants.
Praise Him for all answered prayers.
Sweet feather dreams.
Good Night!!!! ((Hugs))
I surely know about the attitude, Judie.
Spidey legs!!
Knickers? Wow. I always get a picture of the old time golfers' outfit as Judie suggested.
Me too, BEagle, or the pants young boys wore years ago when hoop-rolling was in style. There is a whole new world of knickers out there.
Thunder getting closer and closer here. I may disappear.
I scanned wikipedia's explanation for Knickerbockers.
We must have shortened it to knickers.
Yes, I see there is a whole new era of knickers.
Yes, I saw several mentions of knickerbockers.
Yep, I saw some pictures I would not put on the blog.
Is Palmer out for the evening?
I heard her earlier, but as far as I know she did not come back to the nest this evening.
Yep, UK speak for underpants IS knickers. My Scots grandpa said it all the time...as in 'don't get your knickers in a bundle!"
The American idea of knickers is exactly like the old-time golfers wore (thinking way back even to Bagger Vance!).
Deb, so glad you are enjoying your grandson! Do you get to see him often?
Diann, is Max still with you?
I think I've heard "Don't get your knickers in a twist." Also "Don't get your panties in a twist."
I enjoyed the movie Bagger Vance.
I have heard different variations of the same phrases about knickers and etc.
Ready to go upstairs for the evening. I will see you tomorrow. Good night.
Good night to all going and yet to go. I am going to do it, too!
It's been a nice day...and I'm "tarred". Sleep peacefully. Prayers for all.
I am heading down the hallway....
Beautiful day it has been!
Good Night All
Prayers For All
Hugs To All ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Oh, my! Got ready for bed, including brushing my teeth and then Jack offered me home made ice cream with maple syrup and pecans on top. Guess I will brush my teeth once more!!!
I am ready for bed, except for brushing my teeth again, so I will say good night!
Sweet dreams!
OMG! Just went to LOL and do not see anything or anyone in the nest. Has to be an explanation. Hear a chick!
Goodnight, everyone.
Okay, see chicks in the nest. They really do blend in!!! Really scared there for a moment.
I have been watching LOL for awhile...both chicks are there, sounds like Isla is nearby....it is 5 in the morning there, Peter and Fiona may have taken some time off to get some rest and are not manning the cams.
split has happened
