Latest osprey blog 21 June 2010 Sorry I have not been able to update as often as you would have liked. As you can imagine myself and the volunteers have been very busy looking after the visitors and press. For those of you who can watch we will be on BBC Scotland news and STV news tonight at tea time. There has been no real change in the Lady over the course of the day and I can only expect her to go down hill very soon. This will be due to the lack of liquids. For those of you who are new to ospreys, these birds get all they need from their food, including water so she will not get the urge to leave the nest for a drink. I can also say that it is unlikely she has been poisoned as the chicks and 7Y are fine. This is (as the vet has said) probably due to old age. If she does decide to go walk about and tumbles out of the nest, we will retrieve her. Thank you all for your kind words and support at this very hard time. Peter
saw her on the branch, left the room, came back and saw that she was gone, Jo....your right they did say they would retieve if she tumbled out of the nest....but did she fly off.....ot tumble?
Lynn, after several refreshes on Saturday, my LOL ran all day too. Not yesterday or today tho. Must have been a fluke on Saturday, or they changed it because they thought she was going to pass.
Whichever osprey is in the nest right now, male or female, flew out twice more since Jo mentioned it, and came back first with a large stick and then fluff for the nest. hi and bye, I';m not supposed to be here, I'm grocery shopping, right...
I cannot believe what I am seeing if that is Isla at LOL. If so, it is truly a miraculous recovery. Hope I'm correct but, if not, it seems the young man is there for the babies. Anyone know for sure?
Chicks are really chowing down and doing a great job at it. I think all that loud chirping that Isla is doing is her way of calling to 7Y for her own fish - She really has a healthy sounding chirp!
Finally got on their blog.........no mention of her fly-off on there.......but some claim to have seen her eat a few bites---presumably before the flight.....
Under News and Updates there is a long article. Go all the way to the bottome and you will see the words "Message Board". That will take you the current Message Board. Look for Anne's post.
Peter said she did fly to the Loch and drank some water. amazing. Please Lord we asked for a miracle and it seems to be there Peter said the cam is down.
21 June 2010 Our web blog is down at the moment. We are working hard to fix the problem. My apologies to all who are watching the camera and reading the blog. I will try to keep you updated through this page. The Lady is proving to be a very tuff old bird and amazing to watch but I don’t think she is out of the woods yet. She flew off the nest earlier and glided to the edge of the Loch. She then took four drinks of water then flew back up to the nest. She did have difficulty in finding the nest. She looked quite disorientated. She has been back there now for over an hour and has been food calling. The male came in with a very small pike a short while ago. He left it for the chicks to fight over. After they finished the pike (which Mum showed no interest in) Mum moved to look down through the sticks in the side of the nest as if she was urging the chicks to look. They did and one of them pulled out a very small fish that had been lodged in there somehow. Just amazing! Peter

Be back - Christine from Germany just sent me 240 photos from Shutterfly of "Father's Day" weekend. This may take a few. Anyone on FB may be able to see them as I will put it on my site.
I swea r, I think she is eating bites for herself in between feeding. ANother fish just brought in. Y7 had a hard time getting it off his talon---f-u-n-n-y!!
OMG, Did not go on LOL Diary or our Blog tofday being afraid of inevitable, but sad news. Now I see there has been a miracle there. Altho she probably won't be here much longer, Isla, Lady, Marge is a Superbird!! God Bless her.
I see that third egg... I also see a miracle as it happens I need to thank St Francis for answering all our prayers. Their blog update isn't yet referring to all her eating and feeding her chicks.

On a happier note, saw Phoenix at Hornby nest yesterday doing some wingersizing and showing some very pretty white feathers on those wings
Jo mine stays up for around 20 minutes, but I used to have sound, now I don't, don't no why.....I only check on it a few times a day...:(
It's "June Gloom" around here again this morning, but it should "burn off" later ... partly at least.
It's going to be good.

Good afternoon all.
Off today for WV Day even tho' it was yesterday.
I got to see Palmer on the nest. I blinked and she was off the nest.
I don't think she has come back yet.
The TH twins have not yet taken off.
One probably will while I do errands.
People pray for pets all the time. Why not an osprey?
TCB and BBL.
lol Little osprey chick is doing nestorations and disturbing other chick in Isla's nest.
Come on back with a fish 7Y and feed your woman!
OMGolly Isla is up on the branch
Remember that if she ...
tumbles out of the nest, we will retrieve her.
OM Golly Isla took off
Hope you all saw that........
My mouth is hanging open.....
WAKE UP EVERYONE
Stop doing the housework.....
Isla just took off from the nest
Now to watch to see if and when she returns and maybe with her own fish....
Pray really hard..........
LOL Cam is panning all around looking for her..........
saw her on the branch, left the room, came back and saw that she was gone, Jo....your right they did say they would retieve if she tumbled out of the nest....but did she fly off.....ot tumble?
She intentionally spread those wing and flew
My LOL cam just stopped and won't restart for me.........
Whoa! LOL is up/running and looks as though the
Chicks are in charge
Someone is back at the LOL nest...
Needs to turn around so I can see who it is..........
Definitely it is Isla back in the nest.
sure is, Jo....
Sound wise it may just be my speakers but there could be stormy conditions at the LOL nest......
Come on with the fish for the Lady, 7Y
Checking on Isla and our nest. She looks steadier on her feet, but I don't think she can see :(
Our nest is MT :) That's a good thing. Palmer needs to be out learning the ways of the wild and free.
And I saw Chrissy posting on the LOL blog.
Lynn, after several refreshes on Saturday, my LOL ran all day too. Not yesterday or today tho. Must have been a fluke on Saturday, or they changed it because they thought she was going to pass.
Wow, I just your posts that Isla flew off the nest! Certainly not what I thought would happen! I have sound on my LOL.
I guess she can see.
Geese flyover at LOL...can hear the wind, too
Whichever osprey is in the nest right now, male or female, flew out twice more since Jo mentioned it, and came back first with a large stick and then fluff for the nest.
hi and bye, I';m not supposed to be here, I'm grocery shopping, right...
Paula, What is the url for the blog and is that the same as a chat room.
No new comments on their blog about the flyoff...they have been busy with the press today, probably haven't had time to approve comments.
Megan I sure missed that...... We are looking at LOL with Isla - right?
Jo, it's definitely a blog, comments must be approved before being posted.
This is the link to todays. You can access all the other posts and days and main page from this page on the right hand side.
LOL blog
Wow, Megan...
I cannot believe what I am seeing if that is Isla at LOL. If so, it is truly a miraculous recovery. Hope I'm correct but, if not, it seems the young man is there for the babies. Anyone know for sure?
Judie, it looks like Isla, eyes seem to be closed...if it is her don't know how she flew out and flew back.
Watching LOL and I think her eyes are open and she is looking around.
I don't know if she can see but I am sure there is eye blinking.
Good looking fish in the BWE nest...
I am wondering who brought it in.
Is that Isla I hear calling for 7Y?
Well I need an hour to finish a task.
Hate to leave but know you all will keep the comments coming...
BBILW
WHOO HOO I heard that Fly In
Wish we could see better.. I think she is eating.
OMG, Y7 brought in food and I think Isla is eating......???What do you think?
Y7 just brought back a fish and I think Isla is going for it!
Or maybe he didn't...he's gone and I don't see a fish. She is chirping along with the kids now.
Ah, one of the chicks has it
Well, maybe not. Maybe she tried to feed chicks. When Y7 left, they started eating by themselves....
I do not know if he brought in anything or not. She hurried over as if he had brought something in. Now he is gone. hmmmm????
She is letting the chick have at it...it is certainly tearing into the fish.
She's chirping like crazy. Could she be telling him bring more food?
Yes, I see them feeding on their own. Would love to really see her eat.
I think she is calling for one for herself, now.
Chicks are feeding themselves. At one point Isla had her mouth open as if feed me. I am wondering if she can see?????
I got on their blog this morning, but I am unable to do that now. Must be really busy.
Even if this is just a temporary rally, I think we have witnessed a miracle today.
Wish I could get stupid blog to open----Peter and Fiona answer/respond to posts if they have time.
Chicks are really chowing down and doing a great job at it.
I think all that loud chirping that Isla is doing is her way of calling to 7Y for her own fish -
She really has a healthy sounding chirp!
They just updated their blog. Most current post is someone saw her flying off.
If you go to Puleston site, they have link to video of the flight. Also a video of after she came back, she was wet.
I agree Lynn - miracle or prayers
I hope it lasts...
So most likely, she at least got a drink.
I asked on Puleston site about 3 flyoffs today, they say only once.
LOL cam is really acting up. Looks like chick can't quite get the hang of holding the food with a foot!
Paula, can you post a link to Puleston, please? Have never added that one to laptop.
Well, if she took a dip, that is good...water is there!.......even tho' hydration comes from the food, I bet if they are thirsty, they WILL drink if
Here is easy copy and paste

Click on "message board" to get to the current posts.
Well the LOL blog is down for me now, too.
Probably crashed with everyone trying to post!!
Finally got on their blog.........no mention of her fly-off on there.......but some claim to have seen her eat a few bites---presumably before the flight.....
Almost two hours behind on their postings.......I would think that when I finally got on it would be current!
Thanks, Paula, for link.
Now I know that God hears prayers even for an osprey. Of that, I have no doubt.
How about that Costume Lady?
I just posted the video of her flight on facebook. Quite amazing. Let's keep our momster prayers going!
Lolly!
How do I find the video posting? I would like to see her flight.
Your bacon pasta is yummy.
So, glad you liked the Bacon Pasta. We love it! I followed Paula's link, did a copy and paste and got there. "Anne" posted the video.
OK, read what they were saying on Puleston and saw the video! THey, too, mention no new posts on blog....tried refreshing it and still hours behind...
On that site they call her Marge.
Link to video Isla's flight
Under News and Updates there is a long article. Go all the way to the bottome and you will see the words "Message Board". That will take you the current Message Board. Look for Anne's post.
You are ahead of me Jo! LOL
If anyone gets a video of her return
please post it. I for some reason cannot get on a current Dennis Puleston
site....
Thank you Jo. Her chicks watched her too.
Peter said she did fly to the Loch and drank some water. amazing. Please Lord we asked for a miracle and it seems to be there
Peter said the cam is down.
Very strange behavior on her part now. It is as if she can not figure out how to feed them. She has a small fish.
Now I found the message board with Anne's remarks.....
Link to the current message board
The cam is not down, just the blog.
My cam is on...another fish has been delivered, but she is letting the chicks have it again.
Lolly Peter says the cam is down
I think they have trounced all over it, she looks like she is looking for it.
Maybe it is back up. Peter said the cam is down Maybe Peter's cam is down. LOL

Found this on the osprey blog:

Sorry I read it wrong. Thought he said the cam is down.
Ceil, just the blog, not the cam.
Wonder is she still has an upset system? Or is she letting the chicks eat first?
Saw that Lynn. I was so excited that she drank water that my brain did not work.
Oh, I see Lynn found it also. I have been sleeping through all of the drama. Just crashed on the sofa.
You all know you can make the picture at LOL go full screen with a double left click.
Be back - Christine from Germany just sent me 240 photos from Shutterfly of "Father's Day" weekend. This may take a few. Anyone on FB may be able to see them as I will put it on my site.
So she got them to dig up that fish? This is amazing! OH wow, she now has the fish in her talon.
She is eating!!
I am sure I just saw her eat a bite!!!!!
She is still a little unsteady.
As our Chrissy would say "Come on Pet, eat all your tummy can hold."
Wow, she has to be eating.
I simply still cannot believe what I am seeing. Isla is eating! What a miracle.
She took at least one bite, and now she is feeding the chicks. Another bite for MUM!
Feeding a chick, too.
Laird is back with a bigger fish!!
Fish delivery! Big one.
Now she is feeding them. Hope she take a few for herself!
Caught on Dad's talon.
It is really stuck on his talon, lol. He finally got it off.
Now he is feeding a chick, too.
He brings them back whole. Some males, go ahead and eat the head off first, and then bring back the rest for the female to eat and/or serve.
I swea r, I think she is eating bites for herself in between feeding. ANother fish just brought in. Y7 had a hard time getting it off his talon---f-u-n-n-y!!
What a sight! Hope she gets a few bites herself.
Amazing. So glad to see her doing better.
One big happy, healthy osprey family! It's a good day.
Not sure anyone expected to see this today in their wildest dreams.
She did swallow some.
He is feeding both chicks and she is eating!
Now Dad is feeding both and Mom is eating!!
She is eating now. Both little ones are being fed by Dad. Good.
All of you sitting there smiling as we watch this....now say "Amen!"
Food fight!!! ROFL!!!
Chick fight...now Dad has left. Mum's left eyes looks open to me.
See the 3rd egg?
She is eating the other fish now.
It's after 9PM there now....only about an hour til dark.
I see the egg.
I see the egg as well. To me she is looking "unkept". Guess that is to be expected of an ill bird.
This will help her become stronger.
I am so so very happy what ever was wrong maybe if was all just from the fight with the intruder the other day.
I don't know this Grand Lady Isla's outcome but I do know she is "TRULY A FIGHTER". (:
Don't know what happened with the intruder, but if there was a fight, that might explain a lot.
Come on little piggies, let your momma eat!
I see a miracle! I see Isla feeding her babies, I see dad feeding the babies (distraction from Isla) I see the third egg. I see a miracle!
Little one wants to be fed. She is giving some, but has been eating some, too.
It would truly be interesting to know what was wrong with her.
Oh, sure do see the old egg now, Paula!!! Can't believe that it hasn't gotten smashed to pieces. May be petrified by now!
OMG, Did not go on LOL Diary or our Blog tofday being afraid of inevitable, but sad news. Now I see there has been a miracle there.
Altho she probably won't be here much longer, Isla, Lady, Marge is a Superbird!! God Bless her.
Peter said that all investigation of vet on cam showed no sign of injury, but not real sure how they can be so sure of that.
I see that third egg...
I also see a miracle as it happens
I need to thank St Francis for
answering all our prayers. Their blog update isn't yet referring to all her eating and feeding her chicks.
Life is Good! Tears of pure joy!
Poop shoot!!!!
