Steve on the phone with his mom. Wendy, his sister, is back in hospital. Doesn't have Devic's. Just boggled my mind trying to read up on Transverse Myelitis. HELP LYNN! Don't have all details yet, will have to wait til Steve is done. THen I'll have to call her back later myself because as wonderful as he is, he is just a man....and men don't do DETAILS very well!
Transverse Myelitis is just a symptom from what I can gather...inflammation of the spinal cord on both side. Must be caused by something else going on in her body.
Food drop well not exactly just kind of ripped out of the talons of the adult as he/she approached the nest. Palmer eating now no longer on launch pad.

Forum at NBG is saying something about one of the eaglets, NE, going into the canal and having to be rescued. They tried to let it fly again, but it didn't, so they're keeping it overnight to give a vet a chance to look at it tomorrow.
Saw that at Norfolk, Jim. I wasn't sure if they were talking about one of their own eaglets or another one. Sounds like the poor eaglet nearly drowned.
A brief update on NE. About 9:50 this morning NE was noyiced floating in the canal near the nest site by a photographer. Another photographer, Duane Noblick, went in the canal after seeing that NE could not get up over the bulkhead and out of the waater. Duane was able to get to NE and put him up on the bank in front of the nest. When I got there NE was up under some bushes. I was able to get him without a struggle. I examined NE and found no injuries. He was soaked and exhausted. I called Lisa Barlow, a raptor rehabber who came out and also found no injuries of any kind. After letting NE rest and dry off we made an attempt to release hime about 2:50 just as one on the adults brought food to the nest. NE did not take flight, but ran up under the brush. After a second unsuccessful attempt, Lisa and I determined it best to hold NE over night and have a vet examine tomorrow. Lisa will feed tonight and will attempt a release tomorrow if green light given by vet. by Reese F Lukei Jr edited by Congowings at 6/13/2010 9:44:19 PM5:44 PM
Stopped by to see Wanda's You Tube presentation too. Feeling pretty well caught up with yesterdays happenings except for that toast that I guess Wanda wrote. Where is it? Is it being shared or was it something just for those at the toast. Either way Deb was remembered and celebrated at the right place and at a wonderful time.
Thanks for the news about eaglet at Norfolk. Glad they will examine NE. So happy someone was close enough before it became fatal.
Palmer may really know from his parents more than us. Storm is going to hit again supposely. So fledging today would not be good. Tomorrow no storm warnings until 3pm.
Welcome to the Eagle Momster Blog Pam. Was so good meeting you yesterday. Love the butterfly.
Paula, great pics of yesterday. Sorry we couldn't stay for the toast and group picture, but Mike had another engagement and I was just thankful he could bring me down.
He used to drive truck and knows the roads and is a good driver. I even think I might be able to talk him into the October festivities. Jim should be able to attend also. All depends on their work schedules and Mike willing to give up his fishing. Something is in a t this time, I think he said Stipers?
In case you're wondering, Mike is a better driver than his father, but that's my opinion. shhhh ;o)
Time to get supper. Will be checking back for more pictures of yesterday. My camera can't get close ups, which is what was needed for the nest.
Hi all. Been back a little while. Caught up on everything now. Looks like storms passed us by...hope so as I just put ribs on the grill. Pam, glad you dropped in! Nice meeting you and Craig yesterday. Whart a shame about the NBG juvie. Thanks for alerting us, Jim, and SHirley for the full report. Hope he is okay and will be ready to fly tomorrow. Glo, I'm sure Wanda will send you Gene's recipe and little tribute.
Candy & Shirley the lady (gal) that moved in beside me. Is an assistant aid to Special Education kids at North Middle School (junior high). She loves her job. When it gets close to summer she can't wait for some time off. Then I'll hear her saying before summer is over, "I can't wait for school to start, I'm ready to go back".
Dana, the people who last very long at special ed are dedicated people. They were hard at work at graduation. Several of their kids graduated yesterday. They get special education diplomas.
Well maybe Liberty didn't leave any food and Palmer just found leftovers. Maybe that is why Palmer is screaming. Cause he/she see's parent on limb with food?????
Well she could actually have some food she is protecting and can't look up and yet look down and eat too. She has been learning to not turn her back on her food.
Well this is a first. I'm in the kitchen and Little Man (doggie) was asleep on couch. Palmer's screaming actually woke him us. Usually doesn't bother dog. Although this was some LOUD screaming! lol
Yes Paula I too thought your hair looked nice like that.
I wanted to say that Mema Jo's great grand boys where so mannerly yesterday.
For those that have seen Sharon's Justin before. Well he is planning on coming this year (finally) to Open House. I did not realize that was him. He has really shot up there and is 16 yrs. old now.
Then I do have to talk a little about Dustin. He too is16 yrs old. One would not believe that due to his height. Since we took the trip to Conowingo Dam he has shot up there a least a foot. You must ask Megan about her enjoyment with Dustin. I hope I am there when she gets him back (: (: lol
Mattie I really didn't leave you out. You are just one of us "Little Eagle Eye" (:
She was her normal HAPPY self to be at the eagles nest. Happy to be talking with Jo and others. That gal just fits right in like a glove that fits your hand just right. (:
I'm so glad Palmer is resting. What a racket she made earlier, and wow she was flapping and bouncing like crazy!
I'm going to take a nice cool shower and go relax in the air conditioned bedroom til Army Wives comes on. I have been sweating and a little light headed all day. Then I had my first A-Fib episode in some time and I am grateful that I was sitting at the time, because it was a bad one and I thought I was going to pass out. I am just NOT doing well in the heat this year.
OH! My pair of bluebirds have begun to lay another clutch!! Saw them in and out of the nest box several times over the last few days and this morning there was one little egg!
Yes, kids were all great yesterday. Hope they all enjoyed the day. Seems to be getting a bit darker than usual for the time...maybe more rain clouds...had one little sprinkle right before I lit the grill, but nothing more. So far.
Lynne, please take it easy and stay in as much as you can.
Palmer is my "main eaglet" but Phoenix at Hornby is a close second...
FYI, I've had excellent luck with Firefox. I didn't install Adblock Plus - maybe my husband did, or maybe it's one of those extension things that comes with it, but I'm sure you get it for free. I get zero ads at Hornby since we got Firefox with Adblock.
I actually watch Palmer on Google Chrome (great luck with that, too) and post to blog on Firefox, so I use both and like both. But for the ads on Hornby, I highly recommend Firefox with the Adblock Plus thingie.
Miss Jo...it was my pleasure to make the video-slide shows. I love doing that. In the time that it takes to do that, I don't have a care in the world. Very therapeutic:)
I have sent a copy of the PALMER RECEIPE and the sentiment that went with it, to Deb's family members and one to GLO. If anyone else would like a copy, please let me know and I will be happy to send you one:)
Thanks to Paula for capturing the "Toast to Deb" on video. A great keepsake for family and friends. And yes...Paula's new hairdo is very cute on her:) She looks 10 years younger!
Jo, Gene said to tell you that he really enjoyed Anthony and Joseph. He couldn't get over their well behaved mannerisims. He is still laughing at Anthony (I believe) when Gene said they couldn't play in the bathroom and Anthony said he wasn't playing..."he had to pee!" We need to meet Alexis next time:) And Sophia, too!
Hope continues to do well. Tonight when she stood up to bite a sapling (teething?), we snapped this picture and later measured from the ground to the tip of her nose—34 ¼ inches. That’s bigger than we thought. Seeing her every day, we didn’t notice how much she is growing. She is definitely no longer emaciated! We examined her fresh scat and found she’s been sampling wild blueberries and American fly honeysuckle berries. Blueberries are still green but honeysuckle is beginning to ripen. Hope should do just fine once the berries really ripen. Today, Lily approached to within 700 yards (0.4 mile) of Hope’s location. Sue went out to monitor what might happen if Lily continued and they met. False alarm. Lily’s GPS locations showed she veered sharply south. Lily no longer appears to be with a male.
Good Grief!! I posted on Saturday or Friday's page!!! Have to see if I can copy & paste. Can't get used to how to open the threads yet. Put some Visit pics in Momsters album.
Thanks Wanda for introducing me to Lancelot yesterday! I am also headed down the hallway..... Tomorrow Flag Day 2010 June 14 Holiday, a day for Americans to celebrate and show respect for our flag, it's designers and makers. Fly high old Glory!
NatureNut said... Good Evening Everybody! Sorry getting back on here so late~~busy, busy, busy. Well, I watched too good shows, and now I'm heading for the tub in a few. It's been a nice weekend. ♫ ♪ "Thanks for the memories...♪ ♫ see all y'all tomorrow. Prayers, peace and love.
My comment just expresses my feeling that Palmer may fledge June 14th Flag Day just as our Spunky did! Palmer is still there lying in the middle of the nest at this time.
Hi, Everyone, Getting back here pretty late. Have been very busy today. Went out to breakfast, then did some more shopping. Have done a lot of bird watching later today, and watched "Wild Pacific" this evening.
Palmer seems to be plopped down in the nest right now. Guess she's tired after her adventures today. Glad to see her there.
Wanda, love the videos and pictures! Will have more time to look at the others tomorrow.
Our Cooper's Hawk female has made another appearance on the wires over our back yard this morning, sending small birds flying in a panic. They all managed to get away.
Went to movie this afternoon--saw "Killers" with Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher. It was quite entertaining.
Well, getting pretty tired, so think I'll call it a night. Prayers said for everyone. Sleep well, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, ahd good night! Love all of you! :o]
hAHAHA. I've had a nap or two, but I haven't gone to bed for definite yet. But I was just thinking about shutting down, but I see it's getting light already.
Then I see that Palmer is active already=================
Oh, oh. I just looked again at the live feed and Palmer is gone from the nest again!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a possibility that Palmer is standing at about 4:30, but there's a big chunk of Spidey's stuff right there, and I'm not sure I can see Palmer behind it or not.
They cut the infra red illumination, and now I can see sticks crisscrossing the area of dark I thought might be Palmer in the lower rt. corner. She is not there.
I thought that if I didn't go on the nest visit this year, I wouldn't be as depressed when I saw the empty nest after she fledged... It's just as big of a bummer.
I'm so happy for the health and freedom Palmer has, but dang it makes me cry.
I'd do anything to get a tracker on next years baby, or one of them.
Maybe Palmer and Hidey will find each other. I wonder where Hidey is and how he is doing?

Hi Palmer!

Hahaha. I did call our young eagle "Parker", didn't I.
Sorry, don't know what I might have been thinking of.
Well, I guess the consensus is that Palmer was branching this morning.
However, if she has the "grab the food, mantle and squall at the bringer of food" behavior practiced enough, she is ready to fly the scene.

Lib came in empty handed. I don't see anything.
All right Palmer...no fish. Get the hint?
Well if Palmer doesn't get off the edge of that nest, he/she is soon going to fall off and have to fly. LOL
Did anyone notice Palmer sneezing?
Yes, I thought that was what Palmer was doing.
This is no time to catch a cold right before the big fledge!
She sneezed three times. Shaking her head with them.
Really, she might need to rest for a day or two then she will fledge.
I'd hate for Palmer to get a coughing spell in mid take off. :)
That would be a riot!
Of course, coughing could have a propelling affect, as most of us will probably know.
You are so right there BE LOL

Lisa will feed tonight and will attempt a release tomorrow if green light given by vet.

thanks for the update, Shirley, poor thing
Enjoyed the slide show Paula thank you
Stopped by to see Wanda's You Tube presentation too. Feeling pretty well caught up with yesterdays happenings except for that toast that I guess Wanda wrote. Where is it? Is it being shared or was it something just for those at the toast. Either way Deb was remembered and celebrated at the right place and at a wonderful time.
Videos are done...they are also on the Eaglet Momsters Blog
NCTC visit June 6
A toast to Deb
Glo, I have the toast in the video.
AHA Thanks Paula Off to see the video now.
My camera can't get close ups, which is what was needed for the nest.
... later
Candy, even if Josh isn't free to come with you, you and hubby can still come in Oct.! Sure do want to meet you.
Lynn1-Hedgie Did it say where in Martinsburg the year sale was that the bear showed up??
Well Flag Day is tomorrow so Palmer just might do a Spunky.
Paula, your slideshow was good, too!
Still haven't downloaded my pics, but don't have any different views than you and Wanda/Gene.
Liberty flew in and whatever food he had Palmer has it.
Parent in and out, Palmer eating
Dana, the people who last very long at special ed are dedicated people. They were hard at work at graduation. Several of their kids graduated yesterday. They get special education diplomas.
WE HAVE A SCREAMING PALMER!!! LOOKING UP.
What a racket!
Something suddenly got her attention. I wonder if the parents are enjoying a fish dinner up there.
Well maybe Liberty didn't leave any food and Palmer just found leftovers. Maybe that is why Palmer is screaming. Cause he/she see's parent on limb with food?????
Palmer looking up and making all sorts of noise...
Off to the deck with a margarita :)
No, Dana, never heard where the yard sale was.
I have subbed some for special education teachers. It is hard work.
Momma or Daddy must be close by. Palmer is looking up and whining!
Paula, loved your videos and the slide show. Hey, I even made it in! LOL
Paula, noticed yesterday and meant to say something....sure do like your hair do! Looks great!
Shirley I think we were thinking the same thing. lol
Maybe the bear was looking for some honey or something else good.
I think there could be a banquet happening upstairs :-)
Just back from Dance recital and an evening meal at Bob Evans.
So glad to see Palmer - wasn't too
sure I was expecting her to be in the nest.
LOL, Glo, is that the reason for the squealing :)
She/he is certainly complaining about something!
Think I will go join Paula on the deck with a margarita. LOL She did invite us over, right?
Still screaming, eh? Too funny!
C'mon over!
Having Margarita shrimp, too!
Hey Palmer, the grownups have to eat, too.
LOL, getting mad now....hmmm wonder if she is protecting her food?
Awww well I'm having fish for supper. Maybe I should head to Shepherdstown Poor baby. She sounds pitiful
Jo and Paula you have mail
Well she could actually have some food she is protecting and can't look up and yet look down and eat too. She has been learning to not turn her back on her food.
Well this is a first. I'm in the kitchen and Little Man (doggie) was asleep on couch. Palmer's screaming actually woke him us. Usually doesn't bother dog. Although this was some LOUD screaming! lol
Palmer is picking at something but I don't think Lib left anything. I think it is nest leftovers.???.???
God Bless you Palmer. I have said that days ago when she sneezed. So today isn't the first time Palmer has been sneezing.
Yes, Paula...I really liked your hair, too!!
Poop shoot!
Thanks for the comments, re: my hair :)
Maybe adults are trying to tempt Palmer to come upstairs and join them. Then again, maybe they are hoping she won't!!
Palmer looks like road kill right now. She has been a busy little eagle today. Plumb wore out.
Hunter really enjoyed being with Dustin at Conowingo, and we appreciated Dustin's patience with a kid so much younger than he is.
Please take care of yourself, Lynne. Enjoy the air conditioning.
Mmmm...ribs were delicious! Feel a panda nap coming on.
Wide cam at Hornby is down again...and the Energizer Bunny is back on the other one. Argh!
Lynne, please take care of yourself and don't overdo! Maybe Steve needs to put in an AC downstairs.
I was over in face book catching up on family and friends.
Take care of yourself Lynne
Hope Little Man was okay all day yesterday without you, Dana.
Wanda and Paula - thank you both for recording the memory making moments of the 2010 Nest Visit.
My goodness! Another sneeze. Bless you, Palmer.
Palmer up by the cam, bless you Palmer, now plotzed where we can see her :)
Sneezy Palmer
Walked up to 1 o'clock
Was looking at Phoenix - didn't believe how the feathers changed so quickly.
I think that yesterday is catching up with me now! Palmer is sneezing and Mema is yawning.........
Hi,
Had to run out and do some errands with Will. Then he fixed supper. Very nice.
I thought Paula looked very different in the group picture. Yes, the new hairdo is nice.
Palmer is quite visible in the nest this evening, even with the strands of web there. Not quite as webby tonight.
good night friends, it's been a long, but fun weekend....see ya tomorrow
hugs to all ♥
Jo, Gene said to tell you that he really enjoyed Anthony and Joseph. He couldn't get over their well behaved mannerisims. He is still laughing at Anthony (I believe) when Gene said they couldn't play in the bathroom and Anthony said he wasn't playing..."he had to pee!" We need to meet Alexis next time:) And Sophia, too!
Lynne, do take it easy and take care of yourself!
This heat is awful. It's hard to feel good when it's this hot.
Good night, Paula...hey, it's about time for some new photos of Gianni!(sp)
PammySue...it was nice meeting you. Good to see you on our blog:)
I think I am going to turn in for the night. Too much fun yesterday!
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SLEEP WELL

Good Evening Everybody! Sorry getting back on here so late~~busy, busy, busy. I put several Visit pics in the Momsters album.(Don't know whether to put on Blog or not-same difference.)
Saw Paula's pic of raining leaving NCTC yesterday. Where is ours??????? I'm sick of getting out watering can every evening when I thought Mother Nature would do it for me!
Just found my comment! It was on the end of Friday!!! (Sat!)
I keep having to sign in when I didn't have to for 2 weeks at a time. Duh
Palmer is sitting in the middle of the nest.
Well, I watched too good shows, and now I'm heading for the tub in a few. It's been a nice weekend. ♫ ♪ "Thanks for the memories...♪ ♫
see all y'all tomorrow. Prayers, peace and love.
Wide awake eaglet in the middle of the nest
Your camera really takes good quality pictures Loretta. Of course the photographer knows what she is doing.
P.S. Jimmy Dean passed away today. :( Always a fav.
One of my favs also. Want to find out his age........
Jimmy Dean was 81 years of age.
Nite all! My back continues to give me fits. Took a muscle relaxer and have been in and out...mostly out this evening. lol
I am heading to the shower. Time to go to bed to sleep...not in my chair.
Weather report here is not good...hot and dry, unusual for June.
I must say, I have enjoyed all the pictures and stories from this weekend.
Nite all! Sweet dreams! Hugs for all!
Restless eaglet tonight.
Time for a split.
And time for me to go upstairs for the night. I will see you tomorrow.
I hope to see you all tomorrow also.
Good Night & Sweet Dreams

God's Speed Palmer and Fly Free & High
My comment just expresses my feeling that Palmer may fledge June 14th Flag Day just as our
Spunky did!
Palmer is still there lying in the middle of the nest at this time.
Hi, Everyone,
Getting back here pretty late.

GOOD NIGHT/GOOD MORN
ALREADY!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
About 5:40 ET .
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
There's a possibility that Palmer is standing at about 4:30, but there's a big chunk of Spidey's stuff right there, and I'm not sure I can see Palmer behind it or not.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Dang, she's gone again, but I see the space where I thought she was too, Jim.
No, Palmer has flown the nest.
They cut the infra red illumination, and now I can see sticks crisscrossing the area of dark I thought might be Palmer in the lower rt. corner. She is not there.
C(°ٿ°)D
Jim
Good morning, Lori.

Oh wow! I didn't get a chance to check the blog yesterday! Palmer fledged!!! Turned the cam on to see an empty nest this morning!! Wow! How wonderful
Love you all and those precious eagle babies.
Morning Jim and Sissy.
When did she fledge? Did anyone actually catch it on video?? OMG! How exciting!
I missed it too Sissy. Just checked in this morning and she's not these. Could she still be branching and just a few limbs up?
