Hi CarolAnne! I had mentioned, doubtful you will get any of my recipes, but my neighbor "Tom Sweetie" cooks a lot, maybe he has a speciality... My mother used to make a dynamite Mocha Torte...cake...if I could get my hands on that recipe !! I'd make it and share it ! was a cake, with filling between two un-iced layers, and both the cake and the filling had some "Mocha" accents...beyond delicious !
I not only missed the nest visit but did not get up in time to go see ISS at 0630 - it would have been high and bright....morning flyovers this week...hereabouts... tomorrow and Wednesday, earlier, and not so high and bright as this mornings :(
Too bad those test results don't show more good things i.e. how many smiles and hugs you give or receive, good deeds -- to counterbalance those not so nice (sometimes) numbers
grannyblt - because we so often talk about food on here I offered to compile some of our favorite recipes, memories, take out food or restuarant meals, animal food/snacks
Thanks Lori.... by the way: first class stamps go up one cent to 45-cents on Jan 22... so buy your forevers stamps this week, and it won't affect the price, but after next week, it will ..does that make sense? Not sure about post cards and extra ounce will have to check on that...

Lori, I'll check that recipe, and I heard all that food talk Sunday morning on your Radio interview !!! Great fun ! .
I can make that !! Mother loved those choclate wafers, but wow they are expensive! And have you ever checked the sugar and calore content of Sweetened condenseded Milk! BUT... small slices, and all things in moderation... Thanks !!!
Magpie - looking forward to the SB (not bugs) blog spot.
Grannyblt - if you have any recipes or food memories that you want included just email them to me. I'll be collecting them until the first of March, then will compile them into booklet form, or an online link, or maybe a CD or possibly all of the above.
It will be an informal layout.
Off to start my part of the day. (First start is to get Bubby up & out the door for his day,, then to start the animals day, then my day) Take care all
Trying to warm up. Just played a great game of fetch with the dogs. Everyone was bringing the ball back. I think the puppies are really getting good. Boomer did better than ever today. Maybe if I get excited when he brings me the ball, he will bring me socks instead of eating them!
My favorite stamp these days is Owney the postal dog. It is a forever stamp. Keep using the Post Office, my son needs to keep his job !! I am almost at the deadline for fun computer time. After I dress and bundle up I'll head to the cold basement to do some online banking and print some pictures. BBL
Oh I should mention, it's too bad there wasn't a video going I could have sent to America's Funniest Video's. When the pups came charging back with the ball (one carries it the other is trying to get it away from him/her while running towards me)they slammed right into me and down on my a$$ I went!
Radiation is at 1, and then dentist at 2:45.....ugh! Will go to PetSmart in between for dogfood and a new stuffed puppy for Liesl. Driving myself, needless to say!
A jolt like that is never good for me. Can feel it all the way up my body. Neck was already hurting this morning. Never good! Off to the couch for a little while.
I just posted some photos that I've taken of some of the birds that I've seen around the house. The goldfinches are here most of the year, though I love them the best when they're wearing their summer clothes, not their winter ones like in the pic. The cardinal nest was in a bush on the side of the house. Denny was so angry with me b/c he had lined up painters to paint the exterior of the house and I wouldn't let them paint that side until the babies fledged! The flycatchers nested right outside my sunroom window for the first time last spring - hoping they return this year! The hummers were swarming the feeder the day after Hurricane Irene in August (they actually came to the feeders all thru the storm). I was out on the deck re-hanging my finch feeder and, when I turned around, there were 2 of them right behind me. I put my hands on the bottom ring of the feeder and eventually, a hummer landed on the feeder. I was able to touch his little feet and feathers - how cool is that!! Denny happened to be at the kitchen window, saw the whole thing, and snapped the picture. OK, I am off to get some things done today! TTFN!!
LYNN, have you found the type dentist that you prefer, to replace your retired dentist? The one that I was telling you about, near GG's is called GENTLE DENTISTRY...I can never get the phone # as we go by. Probably find it in the Yellow Pages.
Good morning eagle people. Cloudy, gloomy day here today.
Plumber was not necessary. I noticed the water was slowly seeping from the sink so I just added some dish soap and waited until it had time to seep into the plug up mess then used a plunger to push it though. Plunger wouldn't work before but I guess the soap made it slippery enough for it to work.
Went out for breakfast this morning and missed our eagles visit.
Daytime TV really stinks and no eagles to watch. Guess I will curl up with the flying labs and my kindle. Bye for now, will turn the computer towards the couch!
We had some light rain last evening, and the top temp is supposed to be under 60° today...not bad.
Have you been following the Channel Island cams?? I see they are all on one page now ... including the new PH nest, which Dr. Sharpe didn't think they could get on cam last season.
I just added a couple of photos to my blog that shows what a retired man with too much time on his hands is capble of doing. Some of you have probably already seen them.
Red, I was just going to tell Sandi to go look at your blog for some touchy-feely birds, and there you've added more!! SO glad that you didn't lose your touch when you moved to the city!!!
Lazy this morning. Hunter and I slept late and I just fixed a breakfast of cheesy eggs and scrapple. Hunter discovered scrapple on a camping trip with his dad and loves it.
Trying to keep a closer watch on my feeders. Pepsi, the next-door kitty, was creeping over the fence and trying to sneak up on the birds a couple of days ago. He can blind-side them from behind the fence.
Hunter decided to go find Anthony, so I told him his chores could wait awhile if he wants to play outdoors.
Good Morning friends - I keep reading and reading thinking I am going to soon get to the last remark - But think I best let you know that I am with you.
Going to look at some newly posted pic on some of your blogs.
Lynn - take care - it's not windy thank goodness for your travels today. You are one strong gal!
Shirley, Hunter has good taste! Did all my shopping at WalMart last week.....they didn't have any Scrapple. :( Will have to wait til next Food Lion run to get my fix.
Gotcha on the pics location, Red. Yard did look kinda big!
Margy that will be great for your blog to have a SB blog on there. You go there so often. Pictures are just beautiful when taken out there.
Still continuing prayers for Fred, his wife, you, sister Mary and rest of family. So happy Fred is improving. I like that Margy "An Angel Amongst Us".^j^
@Red You did explain like someone said already on blog: Shep when Belle lays the eggs. YOU need to bring the fish into the nest. Relieve her some and roll the eggs then lay on them to keep them warm. Then help bring food in for the chicks. Also again relieving Belle and YOU SHEP are to laying on the chicks and keep them warm. I have my fingers crossed Red that you did explain all that to Shep.
The link works, though I didn't delete the words "short name for." I was actually talking to our financial guy long distance while posting the link so I'm amazed that it even worked! I'm hoping that Belle is just practicing. It would make me really nervous for her to lay eggs this early with WV weather the way it is! But this certainly looks encouraging, doesn't it? TWO!
Someone (Paula? Margy?) posted recently that there was fish in the BW nest and that was a signal that egg laying was about to start. It makes sense to me that they would start bringing food to the nest as egg laying gets close, right?
Good morning! Wow, two eagles! I loved watching Belle sit there. I have a feeling it wont be long now. Also, very happy to read that there was HP again this morning. Way to go Shep! And, much thanks to Red! Yes, Red, a lesson on supplying Belle with food would be great!
Still no little bear. See that Jewel is still restless. How can a person get anything done? I gotta watch bears and eagles!
uh, he would bring a food offering to Belle at the nest...to show that he was a good provider...part of the courtship that occurs every year. Will be interesting to see if Shep does that.
Good Morning Eagle Buds! Guess there are no cub(s) yet. I woke up about 5PM & checked, Jewel was busy scratching, then curled up to sleep, so I did the same!
Was getting ready to go up to Drs. office to pic up referral for xray (mammo), but called them first to check on office hours. Wonderful nurse said she could fax it!!!! Now I have more time to goof off! NOT!
Hope Lynn's and Hoda's appts. go well today.
Red, glad to see the sink is working!I love cabbage and kielbasa soup that you mentioned, too. And still have your black-eyed pea soup recipe!Saw your newer "bird feeding" pics. I remember one w/chickadee I think.
Found my Ravens' sweatshirt from when they won several years ago. Hope I can wear it more than 1 week!! Prayers for Tori, Lynn, & Fred and all in need.
I've got to go and take a nap or I'll never make it into work early if the weather decides to turn nastier than it sounds now. Hope there's lots of HP in the meantime!
Paula, the mating is instinctive but is all the other stuff - bringing food to the female, rolling eggs, incubating eggs, feeding eaglets? Or is that learned behavior? After last nesting season, I'd like to see Miss Belle well taken care of this year!
Sandi, all that stuff is instinctive, but some birds have stronger instincts than others...also, I think sometimes the instinct gets stronger with time.
Thanks, Paula! Then let us all pray that Shep has good instincts - we already know he has good taste in women! BTW, just called DE DMV again - no record of an EZ pass violation and it certainly would have registered from Christmas Eve, so we lucked out!
I had to get Jewels the bear cm on Pixcontroller. The other worked the othe day. Maybe today just too many on that one. Boy Jewel's is moving around a lot. I just heard a sound like a cub sound. Probably not yet.
Got cold here last night. I think the washer pipe had ice in it. Some problems getting the water started today. We will need to watch, because we might need to turn on the heater in there.
Had to go fix some late lunch for Hunter. He had gotten some slices of turkey awhile ago, but said he was still hungry when I asked, so I fixed him some salsa, cheese, and chips. He particularly likes that.
Going to send him out to pick up dog poop in a bit. His mom left him some chores, and that is one.
Thanks for the egg-laying info, Lolly and Paula. I thought it was still a bit early. Weatherwise, it would be good if they wait a bit.

ARGH! Beggin' Strips commercial just on.... Liesl barking her head off!! Too funny.
GOOD MORNING...
LOL Wonder what it is about that commercial that makes Liesl so hyper? Maybe she want you, LYNN, to buy her some Beggin Strips:)

Good Morning to everyone.
Lynn that is so funny about Liesl.
I watched the Globe retry last night then onto the Globe Awards and fell asleep.
Need to catch up a little.

I just added a couple of photos to my blog that shows what a retired man with too much time on his hands is capble of doing. Some of you have probably already seen them.
Nice pics, Sandi!! I would love to touch a hummer!
Jim and Red both on this morning! We gals are honored!!
Red, I was just going to tell Sandi to go look at your blog for some touchy-feely birds, and there you've added more!! SO glad that you didn't lose your touch when you moved to the city!!!
Glad your clog passed without a plumber!!
Hey Lynn, maybe the next time you have a "clog," you should try swallowing some dish soap to clean out the plumbing!! =D Will check out Red's pics!
Those were taken at my old place a couple of years ago.
Good morning,
Lazy this morning.
I haven't read the whole blog but I would like to say that Shep is getting better at it because of Red's training!
Some great bird photos Sandi and Red! San, love the cardinals looking like they must have thought you were their mom bringing them food!
Red, I've never seen so many hummers in one place! Is that a shed row barn in the back of your property? Horses?
OMG Red, I would like to think that is what heaven is like for birders. Birds galore, birds eating from your hand! Heavenly!!
Lucky man!
Do they have our live cam down? It keeps saying there's a server error and won't reload. Hmmm.
Good Morning friends - I keep reading and reading thinking I am going to soon
get to the last remark - But think I
best let you know that I am with you.
Going to look at some newly posted pic on some of your blogs.
Lynn - take care - it's not windy thank goodness for your travels today. You are one strong gal!
Hi, Red & Hi, Jim
It's back.
Eagle
Eagle in the nest...looks like Belle..digging in the fluff
Now molding the bowl and laying in the bowl
LOOKS LIKE MISS BELLE TRYING OUT THE CUP AGAIN!
Isn't that a beautiful sight?? Now, I'll never get out of here to run my errands!
Saw on FB that a new eagle cam has launched in Richmond, for those of you with lots of time to watch lots of cams!
OK Sandi, now we need the link!
BWE cam looks better this morning...still a couple of glitches.
Wonder when NBG is going to be online
Paula, always feel relived when she does this and you're on the blog so you can say if you think she's laying an egg!
And as soon as I comment about BWE, it's totally black...maybe they are working on it
Belle looking comfy in the bowl...I am sure she is measuring fluff levels ☺
Lori, she's just giving it a test run. They are standing up when they lay eggs!
Wow eagle in the nest, are we going to have an egg soon? I know it's early, but is this pre-egg behavior?
Here's the link to the new Richmond cam:
short name for Richmond Eagles
Thank you Sandi! Brought to us by CCB...cool.
Lori, The barn belonged to my neighbor. They had horses.
Something is flying around...
I think Shep is getting ready to come in, she is looking around like he is flying above.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe it is egg laying time.
Still cam is sucking!
Red you have cooked for years. So
finally you clogged the disposal.
Your "granted one mistake a year". See you didn't give up you even fixed it. lol
This is definitely a positive sign!!! Go, Belle!!!! Lay an egg!
Sandi----ugh! Think I'll pass on the soap! LOL!
Well, she seems quite content there feeling out the fluff factor!
Checking in here. I see Belle.
If you click on my name you will NOT get an email address.
JudyE the friend you took to watch eagles Susan. She is now going to be an eagleacholic. So tell her to come aboard.
Hello everyone.
Crossing my fingers that we will have eggs in our nest soon, before it's too late.
Shirley, Hunter has good taste! Did all my shopping at WalMart last week.....they didn't have any Scrapple. :( Will have to wait til next Food Lion run to get my fix.
Gotcha on the pics location, Red. Yard did look kinda big!
Good Morning Shirley & Delphia!
Delphia, there is plenty of time for eggs!
Another nest....oh my!!!
Really I loved to see an egg in the nest. Rather wait a week or two so bad weather passes. So Belle won't be laying in sleet.
If she is going to lay one now or tomorrow. Belle we will hang in there with you and pray pray pray♥
Dana, I might need another talk with the boy. He has a short attention span. lol
What is typical egg laying behaviour (tip of hat to Hoda) for eagles?
This is the link I have for Jewels Cam but it isn't showing the cam. Just keeps switching pictures.
Can someone please put a blue link for Jewlel's Bear cam?
Beggin' Strips again.....poor Liesl. And no, I am not buying any for her. Too many calories and too much fat.
Just copy and paste this into your browser:
http://bear.org/livecams/jewel-den-cam.php
The link works, though I didn't delete the words "short name for." I was actually talking to our financial guy long distance while posting the link so I'm amazed that it even worked! I'm hoping that Belle is just practicing. It would make me really nervous for her to lay eggs this early with WV weather the way it is! But this certainly looks encouraging, doesn't it? TWO!
Jo, wind is blowing again...brrrrr.
BOTH EAGLES IN NEST
And Shep arrives.
I'm getting an error when I try to view the NCTC cam?
"An error has occurred
Sorry, the page you requested generated a server error. Try one of these links below."
Someone (Paula? Margy?) posted recently that there was fish in the BW nest and that was a signal that egg laying was about to start. It makes sense to me that they would start bringing food to the nest as egg laying gets close, right?
Delphia, the cam error happened to me, too, the quickly cleared up and came back on after trying to reconnect.
Must be fluff factor assessment day. Seems to be their only concern.
Jewel cam
It's working for me now :) Come on, Belle! Lay an egg already! LOL
Mom just got here, have to go. Have a great day everyone.
It's working for me now :) Come on, Belle! Lay an egg already! LOL
Mom just got here, have to go. Have a great day everyone.
Working fine for me, Delphia. Just keep trying. Maybe too many viewers have overwhelmed the system!
HP!!!!!!
Wow, more HP!!!! Way to go Shep!!
SHEP IS DEFINITELY GETTING THE HANG OF THE HP! RED, YOU DONE GOOD!!! =)
Well that was a little rough Shep!
WOW I guess Shep wants to make sure they get some eggs.
HP HP HP: Wasn't he a little far up on her that time? He looked more like he was trying to ride a bull.
Aw man, missed it again!
LORI, I GUESS FLUFF ASSESSMENT ISN'T THE ONLY THING ON SHEP'S MIND TODAY!!
I thought the same thing, a little high up but then it lasted a little longer, so I hope it was a take!
Belle is settling down again in the egg cup.
Sandi, with Lib and Belle, Lib would bring Belle food to the nest very close to egg laying time.
Something happened to my computer, and I had to restart everything. Missed the hp, but glad to hear it happened.
uh, he would bring a food offering to Belle at the nest...to show that he was a good provider...part of the courtship that occurs every year. Will be interesting to see if Shep does that.
Jewel is scratching her belly. Too funny!
Shep is like a "father in the waiting room". lol
Good Morning Eagle Buds!
Guess there are no cub(s) yet. I woke up about 5PM & checked, Jewel was busy scratching, then curled up to sleep, so I did the same!

I've got to go and take a nap or I'll never make it into work early if the weather decides to turn nastier than it sounds now. Hope there's lots of HP in the meantime!
Enjoying the sunshine, aren't they?
I have a little Ms Sunshine in my
living room by the name of Izzy!
So much energy and lots of make believe.
Going to take time for Lunch

Yes, it does looke like they are enjoying the sunshine and I was just admiring the color!
Jewel is sticking her head up by the cam again.
Shep poofed! Will Belle stay?
HE'S BACK!
Mr Boomerang is baaaack!
Jewel has her head out~~mostly doing manicures! LOL
Wow, look at that egg cup! It is really shaping up.
POOF one!
It was Belle.
Sounds like Jewel is eating the mic!
Shep trying to do some rearranging.
Hate to leave good compnay, but time for me to shutdown and finish getting ready to get out of here. Later, Momsters and Dadsters.
Sandi, all that stuff is instinctive, but some birds have stronger instincts than others...also, I think sometimes the instinct gets stronger with time.
Prayers for you, Lynn! You are never far from our minds. (((hugs)))
Thanks, Paula! Then let us all pray that Shep has good instincts - we already know he has good taste in women! BTW, just called DE DMV again - no record of an EZ pass violation and it certainly would have registered from Christmas Eve, so we lucked out!
OK, I am going to run errands. Continued prayers for Tori, Fred, and always for Lynn!! Later!
Jewel is out so far now, can just see blurry fur, but lot of licking sounds~~hmmm.
Yes, Loretta, that is definitely a close up of a bear. LOL
Getting a bite to eat then nap time. See ya later.
Safe travel prayers for Lynn. Take care lady (((hugs))).♥
I had to get Jewels the bear cm on Pixcontroller. The other worked the othe day. Maybe today just too many on that one. Boy Jewel's is moving around a lot. I just heard a sound like a cub sound. Probably not yet.
Jewel is also crunching some ice from around opening---can tell it's not licking sounds.
I think I just heard a hawk on our live cam.
Oh I did finally make a cheat sheet for the people that have come into the group. Boy it has been years since I did a cheat sheet lol
Eagle!
Shep. I think he came in with a stick. Doing nestorations. Big clump of something there.
Wind ruffling his feathers.
Anybody else out there?
I see him, Shirley
Shep is looking around. Seems to be watching something. He is sitting in the center of the nest.
Hi, Paula.
I just peeked in too, Shirley.
Paula, what is the earliest we have had eggs at this nest?
Good afternoon, Lolly.
Looks and sounds very breezy at the nest. Sheps feathers are a blowin in the wind.
Definitely breezy there.
Good afternoon to you, Shirley! 68 here, I think spring has sprung. Not good, fruit trees will start to bloom and then we will be hit with a freeze.
Jack's neck is bothering him again, so no yard work today. Probably too warm anyway.
Shep poofed! I think off to a branch.
Poof Shep.
Got cold here last night. I think the washer pipe had ice in it. Some problems getting the water started today. We will need to watch, because we might need to turn on the heater in there.
Eagle!!
Shep, I think.
Eagle back!
Good afternoon all.
Enjoying, sort of, the last hours before I return to work and spend another semester with 100 wannabe adults.
Jo, can only imagine the fun with Izzy. Glad you two are having play time together.
Lynn, thinking of you this afternoon. Take it easy as you get through the appointments.
CarolAnne, you have recipe email.
Hi to Red and Jim and Margy.
In fact, hi to everyone I've missed along the way this past weekend.
Margy, happy to know Fred is better. Prayers for each of you.
Also happy Tori is continuing to improve.
Isn't Wanda's surgery soon? This week?
Not this week, but next. The 25th if I remember correctly.
LOL, so he is back again!
Shirley, think Jan 31 is our earliest egg.
He is standing just a little to the left of Lib's favorite spot.
Yes Wanda's furgery is scheduled for January 25th.
I agree with Paula when looking at my sheets on the different nest. Our nest egg laying earliest was January 31st.
And he took off from there.
As much as I love having eaglets, I dread the egg laying and incubating. Always holding our breath for good weather.
Thank you, Lolly.
Did see Shep. Nice few minutes.
Uh oh!!! Wanda is having "furgery"
Guess I better google that! Hmmm? A new word for our dictionary.
Missed Shep's departure.
Eagle!
Shep again.
15 posts until split time.
Well, Hunter liked the chips, even though they had black beans baked into them. He doesn't like beans, so he was skeptical.
poof shep
