Update on Nila: The doctor told her family yesterday that she has 1-2 weeks left. Her organs are shutting down. I talked to her on the phone this morning and asked her how she was. Her answer? I'm doing pretty good. How are you?
They were going to move her to a regular room and out of CCU but her nurse in CCU wants her to stay there so they can make sure she keeps her BiPAP machine on and doesn't get toxic with CO2 buildup. She gets confused really easy. Please continue with your prayers.
Morning all, Glad to see the eagles have been in and out and practicing the HP. Baby bears have arrived, next up – eggs, then eaglets.
Wonky weather throughout the nation. Very strange, hope no one is seriously affected.
Here’s a fire dept story no one wants to hear:
My son lives in a small rural area that has a volunteer fire dept. Recently he volunteered for the dept. and took the training. This is the email I received from him:
Had my first fire call at 11:00 last night..... unfortunately I was the only one who showed up. The rest of the dept was to tanked up from their Christmas dinner/awards banquette to respond, so they had to page out another fire dept.
Scary to think that’s what you have to depend on in a fire emergency.
Slept in this morning. Things are still icy here, but I might get Hunter to go with me for some bowling practice later on.
Hoda, I don't think anyone answered your question about school delays. (Maybe they did--I did a very quick skim of the posts.)
Most often the delay is two hours. If it needs to be longer, there is usually a cancellation.
Parents and everyone else just deal with it. I have wondered what I would do with the bowling. If there is a cancellation, I could take Hunter with me if bowling isn't cancelled. But if there is a delay, I might be able to take him a bit early and bowl. Otherwise, I might just miss bowling.
@CarolAnne My nephews are on the fire department volunteer. The one nephew (they are all brothers or cousins) is on Ambulance and his wife is EMT on Ambulance. For instance when he had his 4th of July Party at his house. A lot of the volunteer fire department people were there. Certain ones DID NOT DRINK because they were on call. I don't know why that would not have been the case at the volunteer fire department your son is at.
Hi, Margy. Thanks for callover. Hope your day is going well!
CarolAnne....living in a rural area presents lots of response concerns. Just ask Margy! My oldest SIL was a volunteer with our (then) smallest volunteer company.....it was always a struggle. My youngest SIL was with a larger company in the next county and they had a VERY active and responsive membership. They both were/are professional FF's, as well. Charlie was with the Air National Guard prior to his disbility. Shannon is with Fairfax Co., VA which is among the best of the best in the country!
Good Morning, Steve and Thank you! You are forgiven about your delay on a new thread but we made out very well. Hubby says 'thank you' for all his well wishes. Sure was foggy here this morning. Hoping the temps rise!
Good morning folks. I'm doing fine here. We had lots of wind and rain here but no tornados. Most of the damage is in the Birmingham (central Alabama)area.
My brother was a volunteer firefighter for awhile. I remember the phone ringing in the middle of the night and him rushing off. Often another family member offering support--answering phone, yelling to him, helping him find something, etc.
CarolAnne when I was at those parties. It never failed at some point they would get a call. Off they would go the volunteers (and they had not been drinking in case they got a call).
I fill each hole in a waffle with butter then pour syrup over it all. Haven't had one lately though as I'm still having sausage biscuits and gravy most mornings until I get tired of it. That may never happen. lol
Thanks for the waffle support.....I thought maybe it was part of my OCD!!!! I don't step on cracks, either, Margy....that old childhood rhyme is forever ingrained in my brain!!! Maybe because my Dad's arthritic crippling was due to a broken back when he was a teen (football injury).
Your darn right - I fill every waffle hole with butter and then syrup. You all are making me hungry! I just ate my PB banana, but a waffle sure would taste great!
good morning from the work place... Jennifer fell down the steps on the porch ontot he concrete walkway/ bruised her back up she says... needless to say the girls are home since the fall and getting cleaned up made them miss the bus.. poor baby girl..for once they get up on their own and out the door and now this...
so sorry to hear Nila's updates. My prayers and thoughts are with them all.
hope everyone is managing this crazy weather pattern!! Back to work I go!
Oh, no...my poor baby....I wondered how they were going to get to the bus since Charlie took Caro to work.....hoped they were going to use the 4-wheeler and that Jess wasn't going to take the car out the lane. And then this......tell Jenn to put an ice pack on her back......and take some ibuprofen.
I could have been wrong about the rain, since it just got considerably louder ... and harder ... and when I looked outside, it appeared to have been raining for a while.
That's the link I posted a couple of weeks ago, DanaWV. Amazing to have so many in one place! The refuge lies within four states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. This is where Glo is spending some time now, but I thought she had said Dam 13 was on the Iowa side. Maybe I misunderstood.
Good morning! 52 and chilly in the house. Need to do my walking to warm up.
Judy...Steve does not call the eagles by name. Shep is only our official name for the male eagle. Do not let it bother you that they call the eagle Ben. Just do not go there!
Sharon, you truly are a good friend to Nila. Prayers for her. Hopefully they will keep here where she does not get confused, though pain meds could do the same thing.
Listening to a wee cub squeak! Oh, I saw a cub for a second! It was clinging to one of moms faucets!
Well, going to have to leave this entertainment. Jack is ready to rake leaves. Will bundle up and head out and after a while working I will warm up and shed the coat!
Have a great day...and yes, remember the rule...falls are not allowed. Remember that Momsters and Dadsters!!!!
I just say where RED checked in earlier also so good to hear you are ok I guess I should read the entire blog before I comment HUH OH well back to reading
I hear dripping of melting snow on the cam just not melting fast enough someone need to go with a extension cord and hair dryer LOL the Eagles would appreciate it I'm sure LOL
Yep, The Year of the Dragon ! Celebrate by taking a dragon to lunch !
JEWELS and LYNN, sorry to hear about Jennifer's jarring fall. On ice, I surmise. She'll need some of your special TLC for a few days!
STEVE, we appreciate the New Thread. NYC ? I'm envious !
SHARON, thoughts and prayers galore for Nila, her family and for you---such a good, kind and considerate friend. Amazing she's asking how you're doing in such selfless way ! I can tell she's a beautiful person, too !
RED, good news for you. We hear Alabama and the worries begin. Sorry for those folks who were in the eye of the storm, but happy you're safe.
I keep frozen waffles and sugar free syrup on hand----hmmmm good---and yes, all the "holes" must be brimming with "butter" n' syrup !
THANKS STEVE FOR THE NEW THREAD. I hope you enjoyed New York.
Sorry Jennifer fell.
PRAYERS SHARON.
I understand about cluttery tables JO and MARGY...I have decided I feel lost when my table is clear!!! I do not kow where anything really is,storing away my life so to speak!!! Yet it is one of my chores today to clear the table yet again...do it once a month it won't get too bad...LOL
HODA and SHARON, glad you were on it ! I wasn't paying attention to the fact that the cam had timed out at 14:48---too busy listening to Jewels offspring and can't hear the sounds at our cam ! Very windy there.
Good Afternoon Eagle Buds. Just got home from Hosp. Radiology for U know what. Will elaborate shortly. I was asked if I had taken a tumble in the past 3 months. Yes (but I tripped over suitcase, no body malfunction). So I got a new Fall Risk bracelet. Asked if there were any Xtras, as some of my friends might need one. NO! Anyway, this was a 6 month call back, because they saw "something" probably benign last time. After 2 mammos--one a "cone" type w/small circular cylinder to highlight area (& squish you more)& 2 ultrasounds, they started mentioning MRI.Finally one of the techs saw a tiny speck ON MY SKIN!!!!!Either a tiny mole, dark freckle, etc. That has been the culprit all along!!!!!! I went by my surgeon's nearby office (he would have been next on the list if they were still puzzled) to give them a good laugh, but they were gone for lunch! If this is too indelicate, I'll delete. But sometimes the clouds have a silver lining! ☺
LORETTA, Halllelujah for that "silver lining" ! This is a real day brightener ! They are supposed to cover all those little spots, moles, etc. with those little bullet stickers--guess that one got by the tech. ♥♥♥
HODA, once an egg is fertilized the die is cast and Belle will deliver it no matter what the condition of the nest. They are not bothered by ice or snow at all. Those layers of feathers are great insulation and their brood patches will take care of eggs and little ones ! Mother Nature is amazing !
Interesting meeting. A real sales job. Don't know. Feel a bit unsure about my ability to meet their purpose. Am to meet with two instructors. That may help to clarify. Summer course. Nine nights for four hours each. Pay is meager.
Thank you, Steve. Have a good week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mema Jo's Ed. Would that be HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PEPA Ed?
Home just in time to see the brief nest visit. Sure hoping for some eggs soon.
Sorry Jennifer fell. Hope she is doing okay with nothing more than a bruise or two.
Waffles? Each hole filled with syrup? Oh yes, fill and then fill again after a bit of butter!
Scary about the volunteer fire department.
Continue prayers for Nila's peace.
Headed across the hall to read my lecture notes for tomorrow.
So happy to get in on the nestcapades ! Now time to get some stuff done before PT appt. Too much pain over the weekend and will be seeing the doc again on the 2nd of Feb. instead of the 23rd. Meantime, am to ice the area for twenty minutes several times a day/night. Thanks, as usual, to our dear LYNN, for insisting I call in ! She takes such good care of us all !!!!!!
Wishing you all a warm and enjoyable afternoon ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Ok Lolly - Lubby is enjoying all these extra hugs attached to girlish names! lol He really thanks you and I think he very much appreciates all of you due to the friendship we share......
Days we spend time raking and hauling leaves we do not walk. Get our excercise outdoors. Up to 60 now and sun shiney! Tomorrow afternoon the rain is supposed to start. Then Wed 100% chance on rain and they say several inches. BRING IT ON!!!!!☺
Loretta.....very strange.....I have lots of moles....have never caused a problem. Thank goodness that was the suspicious part....but you should not have had to go through all this angst. ARGH!
Hoda---only 6 more treatments to go!!! Weekend off. Barring any weather delays, I'll be finished a week from tomorrow!!!
Lynn, you have done an exceptional job with your daily treatments ! Very proud of you and wish we could have been of more help p.s. Lubby said "Do you think we should go over again?" I said, I sure do!
Lynn, I was talking about outdoor temps. Did I say something that indicated I was talking about indoors? We do keep the house cool, presently 66 inside, and unless it is extremly cold we turn the heat off at night. We like to sleep with cool temps. Love bundling up under the covers.
Oh, I meant to say this morning that I just poor on a little syrup at a time. Do not like soggy waffles. I heat my syrup and do not fill all the holes at once. LOL Now I am hungry!!!
Won't be blogging for awhile. Where I get one of my medications for diabetics. They messed up when I talked to them last month. I just called the refill in to find out I don't have any refills cause the end of the year came. I told them what the other woman said. They are going to call dr. tomorrow to get me a 30 day script. I'll have to take the paper work I'm filling out into the dr. tomorrow so he can do his part and they send it off so I can get the medication again. grrrrrr
Waffle talk reminded me that I brought homw lunch, but forgot to eart!!! I like oleo & syrup in all the holes, too. Don't have them often--mostly pancakes.
Looks like a standoff in the nest. Wonder if they're watching something and that's why Belle "spoke".
Congrats, Lynn!!! 6 more visits. You're a trooper!!!
I checked in awhile ago and saw our two in the nest. I did have to take the time to make a call to schedule a mammogram--was supposed to do this in November, but did not. Told myself that I must do it today, so now I have. Was actually able to get the appointment for Wednesday.

Good morning folks. I'm doing fine here. We had lots of wind and rain here but no tornados. Most of the damage is in the Birmingham (central Alabama)area.
Thanks for all your concerns though.
Checked out Webster University--I see that they have campuses worldwide.
Shirley, now that Hunter has friends in the neighborhood, is there an at-home Mom that you could leave Hunter with if that need arose?
Good News Red !
LOL---does anyone else fill every hole of a waffle with syrup?? Laughing at myself as I just did it!
My brother was a volunteer firefighter for awhile. I remember the phone ringing in the middle of the night and him rushing off. Often another family member offering support--answering phone, yelling to him, helping him find something, etc.
Red---good to hear that all is well.
that you're okay that is, Red...sorry for any and all damages elsewhere....
Sharon
deepest concerns and thoughts for your friend Nila, and once again...your comfort is surely a blessing at this time
(( Hugs ♥ ))
Might be, Lynn. We are getting to know some of the parents. But lots of them work.
If I had waffles, Lynn...I would do so just because you mentioned it...
it reminds me that I still don't stop on cracks on sidewalks !
Good morning, Red. Glad to see you are okay.
Don't have waffles too often, Lynn, but I would not want to leave an empty hole.
NBG eagles (whoever the female IS) mated this AM. Hope you can see this pic....it's a good one!
HP at NBG
Lynn will you please show that picture to Shep. He is getting better. I think asking permission though is NOT THE NORM lol
By the way GREAT picture!!
Red if you check out the other thread. You will see I was trying to check on you. Happy that you have come in to let us know you are ok. (:
Temp is holding steady at 32° here....appears to be raining lightly. Still foggy.

Hi, Jim! RAIN in So Cal on a Monday??? How depressing!!!! ♫"It never rains in California....."♫ I can't remember the rest of the words!
Darn just missed a picure of Jewel's the bear washing one of the cubs. You could see the cub. awwwwwww

@Jewels I hope Jennifer is ok. She is probably going to have a very sore back. If so should she apply heat or ice?
The wind is gettin up and blowing at the nest!!
Hope Jennifer isn't too bruised, Jewel.
I think there were a lot of slips today.
Lynn, I use 'sugar free' syrups. They

Jo and Margy----your tables are what we always called "organized chaos!"
can hear the sound of melting snow/ice at the nest cam...
I could have been wrong about the rain, since it just got considerably louder ... and harder ... and when I looked outside, it appeared to have been raining for a while.

Take care when you head out: Remember the Rule:
No Slips, Slides, or Tumbles....
Shutting down incase they show up early. Still need to put Liesl downstairs in her big crate.
See you all later.
Stay safe and safe travels Lynn. (((((((HUGS))))))) see you when you get back. Watching for any ice while walking.
Oh, there it is again!
Jewel is licking it and just occasionally you get a glimpse.
Well, going to have to leave this entertainment. Jack is ready to rake leaves. Will bundle up and head out and after a while working I will warm up and shed the coat!
Have a great day...and yes, remember the rule...falls are not allowed. Remember that Momsters and Dadsters!!!!

Thanks KAY...I was thinking also of mold on wet grasses and such...but you are right once it is fertilized it will arrive in its own due time...
Home now.
BBL
So happy to get in on the nestcapades ! Now time to get some stuff done before PT appt. Too much pain over the weekend and will be seeing the doc again on the 2nd of Feb. instead of the 23rd. Meantime, am to ice the area for twenty minutes several times a day/night. Thanks, as usual, to our dear LYNN, for insisting I call in ! She takes such good care of us all !!!!!!
Wishing you all a warm and enjoyable afternoon ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Ok Lolly - Lubby is enjoying all these extra hugs attached to girlish names!
lol He really thanks you and I think he
very much appreciates all of you due to
the friendship we share......
Somebody just flew in with a tree.
Jo, I'm saving them (bracelets)Have 2 now! I won't go back there for another year, I hope. Maybe some other docs have them! TEE HEE!
Days we spend time raking and hauling leaves we do not walk. Get our excercise outdoors. Up to 60 now and sun shiney! Tomorrow afternoon the rain is supposed to start. Then Wed 100% chance on rain and they say several inches. BRING IT ON!!!!!☺
IT IS BELLE I DO BELIEVE
Glad you said something Sharon. My cam had stopped.
Eagle has returned
Fixing the crib rails......
I think you pic is of the same location, Red!!
STILL WORKING WITH THE STICK AT THE RAILING. Camera froze again UGH!!!
LOL Jo! He may not like it when he knows we are calling him your lubby!
I like all the new fluff they have brought in. Let's get rid of that snow!
I AM NOT SURE WHICH ONE IT IS REALLY...I WISHED THE EAGLE WOULD TURN AROUND
Is that Belle? I can't see a spot.
IT IS SHEP MY MISTAKE AND MY APOLOGIES.
Lolly, if my house was that cold, I'd have turned up the heat big-time! Brrrrrr. I never let mine go below 70!
Belle just arrived.
Saw the spot---Shep.
SIX MORE TREATMENTS TO GO...YEAY...
I knew you do not go on the weekends LYNN
Lynn, you have done an exceptional job with your daily treatments !
Very proud of you and wish we could have
been of more help p.s. Lubby said "Do
you think we should go over again?"
I said, I sure do!
Whoohoo on the finishing a week fro tomorrow!! You go Lynn!
IN ARRIVES MISS BELLE AND TUGGING ON RILING MAOR TIME AND BEAKING!!!
NOT NICE YOU TWO!!!
Really shaking up that nest!
I wish Shep would always keep the black mark on his head. Makes it so easy to ID
Hmmmm....peanut butter, butter AND syrup on waffles.....I will try that!!!
Drat---Beggin Strips commercials are running in full force again. Poor Liesl. She REALLY hates them.
Local paper was here when I went out, so time to read it now.
I wonder what they are watching?
Do you all see the mark on Shep?
JO SAY MORE ABOUT THE MARK ON SHEP...LOOSE WHITE FEATHER SHOULDER AREA ON THE RIGHT...IS THAT IT?
Lynn, I was talking about outdoor temps. Did I say something that indicated I was talking about indoors? We do keep the house cool, presently 66 inside, and unless it is extremly cold we turn the heat off at night. We like to sleep with cool temps. Love bundling up under the covers.
I guess I faintly see it - Wind must
have blown the other white feathers over
the mark.
I will place on toast PB Honey but not on my waffle. Well, maybe I'll fill 1
hole only with PB Just to see.
THEY ARE STANDING AROUND AND WATCHING THE SKIES...
It is nice to see our beautiful Belle looking cleaner.
STILL CAM IS SO WONKY IT IS NOT WORKTH TAKING PHOTOS...
Hoda - I meant the black mark on the Head otherwise know as a SPOT.
Oh, I meant to say this morning that I just poor on a little syrup at a time. Do not like soggy waffles. I heat my syrup and do not fill all the holes at once. LOL Now I am hungry!!!
I see the small white feather on the
right wing. It looks loose.
BELLE DOES LOOK GRET LOLLY
THE WIND IS PICKING UP SOMETHING FIERCE OVER THERE...
Lots of eagle tracks in the snow filled
nest at Decorah!
OH MY BUT THEY ARE STILL AND ATTENTIVE...
Lolly you said: Good morning! 52 and chilly in the house. Need to do my walking to warm up.
11:51AM (our time).
BBILW
THANKS JO...I DO SEE THE MARK NOW BUT EARLIER WHEN HE FIRST ARRIVED BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE OF HIS HEAD I DID NOT SEE IT...I APPRECIATE YOUR ANSWER.
Well my table is not getting cleared and my flat is not getting tidied and where will the day go if these two simply just stand there??/
OH VOCALIZING!!1
MORE VOCALIZING...
waffles with butter and warm maple syrup sounds DELICIOUS...maybe this is lunch for me when their Royal Highnesses leave...
Ok, Lynn, see what you mean...that was the outside temp and it was chilly in the house but not that chilly!
I'll have to take the paper work I'm filling out into the dr. tomorrow so he can do his part and they send it off so I can get the medication again. grrrrrr
Long visit!!!!
OH SHEP TURNS AROUND TOWARDS ELEVEN LOOKING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS BELLE. HE THEN GOES BACK TO NOON
SHEP TUGGING ON TWIGS NOW AND BELLE IS STILL ATTENTIVE...
OK THEY ARE MOVING AROUND...NOW SHEP IN THE NES CU AREA DIGGING AND BELLE IS IN THE LOWER SECTION OF THE NEST STILL WATCHING
For a short while they were close, head to head, and no beakering! They may learn to like each other yet!
Hi,
I checked in awhile ago and saw our two in the nest. I did have to take the time to make a call to schedule a mammogram--was supposed to do this in November, but did not. Told myself that I must do it today, so now I have. Was actually able to get the appointment for Wednesday.
Poof one--Shep?
Poof one.
Hunter and I went bowling today. One thing about bowling with Hunter. He does not hesitate to tell you about your mistakes.
Shep has returned. Beaking.
OH BELLE LIES INT HE CUP AREA AND IN FLIES SHEP FROM FIVE POSITION AND GOES TO CUP AREA BEAKING AND PROCEEDS TO DIG IN THE CUP AREA...
SHEP MOVES TO SIX AND WORKS ON TWIGS AND BELLE IS AT ELEVEN LOOKING OUT
THE SNOW IS QUICKLY DIS PPEARING...
SHEP POOFS AGAIN GROM SIX TOWARDS ELEVEN
Off went Shep again.
BELLE WATCHESAND STAYS AT TEN POSITION

How is a woman to get her work done when these two are hanging out so much? something is attraccting their attention and they war claiming the nest?
Good afternoon Eagle Family!
