HA! sleeping in, not...I've been outside and am headed back there. Morning all:) Big accident in WV this am, MARLOWE, W.Va. - Interstate 81 in both directions and southbound U.S. 11 in northern Berkeley County are closed this morning and homes in the area have been evacuated following a multivehicle accident involving an ethanol/gasoline tanker, authorities said. At 5 a.m., the tanker truck continued to burn. C U Later
I couldn't get Pete's either until someone told me to install RealPlayer. I just googled to get the website and loaded it on! It's really cool, but poor Norma said she saw a croc take down an animal there so she can't watch. That sort of thing is the ugly side of nature.
By the way, Megan, your flower pictures are just beautiful! I worked part time for a year in a small flower shop. I also spent 4 springs working at a small local garden center, too, and I just LOVED it!
GOOD MORNING YA"LL from GA. Another hot day with those afternoon storms. Bless them, let mother nature do the watering. Hope everyone has a great day and great weekend.........
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES AGAIN!!---I just left my morning wishes on the last blog---(to read you must go back) ho!---
CONGRATS! LYNN2---You are our EAGLE MOM--today & every day!!--MORNIN' LYNNE2--LORI & MEGAN!!-- WHOA! MEGAN---that must be terrible--those darn' trucks are so dangerous!!---prayers for all those folks----MEGAN--KEEP US INFORMED---our Hagerstown TV is off this am----
MORNIN' GA-GAL!---I have been waiting to hear you blog---('it's a rainy nite in ga) ho!---We have had rain & thunder storms every day!----& we have REALLY GREEN grass & trees!---
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY! I've been up awhile; Hubby's left for work an hour ago, and I'm getting hungry for breakfast after doing some chores. Missed Hidey this morning, but glad to hear the rascal is doing well. Glad it's dry for the moment at the nest, too-- wish we had some of that liquid sunshine here! I'm going to check the weather for the Cajon Pass-- if it's foggy, may wait till Monday to visit our desert house and check up on it, or go later today after the morning fog has had a chance to burn off. That particular stretch of road seems to be an open invitation for lead-footed drivers to ignore the sense God gave them and drive like maniacs! Speed limit is 70, but most people go faster. I find I have to average 75 to keep from being rear-ended by speed demons. I'm used to it after making the trip for so many years, but road conditions can be dicey, and can change without much warning. It pays to be careful. Be back in a minute-- going to look for coffee and breakfast. :o]
Morning GA Girl! Whew, we have had SO MUCH rain....muggy muggy muggy for so early in the summer here in central Maryland. We call this sort of thing "The Marazon" after the Amazon!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... It is 69° here in Hidey Land and just a bit cloudy. It was sunny and beautiful a short while ago. The morning sun was skimming across my backyard garden and everything looked so fresh and pretty. Love that time of the morning:) I hate to be an alarmist this early in the day, but, Jo did not tell us 'GOOD NIGHT' last night, which is rare for her. Jo, if you are up and about this morning...please let us know that you are OK, or I will put out a SILVER ALERT for you!
Snake permit....hahahahahahaha!!! Really hope I don't run into THAT little fella again!
There is a 40% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow and it makes me a little nervous. SEVEN people were killed by lightning this week. This time our friend Dave and his son, our little buddy Billy, will be on site with their camper so we have that to retreat to which is a bit more roomy than our car!
MORNIN' BLUEFIELD SHARON!---Has your temp reached 90° yet---you must explain to the 'new kids'--what happens in your City of BLUEFIELD when the temp reaches 90°---
Hi, Norma, Eggs, toast & coffee! It's tasting pretty good-- especially the Godiva chocolate flavored coffee. Yum!
Lynne2, it's a SoCal thing. Everyone seems to be in a mad rush to get nowhere fast. SIL & BIL just got back from visiting her son & family & our daughter & family in Denton & Aubrey, TX, and she said that as soon as they got into LAX (at 10:30 pm on a Tuesday), it was total chaos! I think it's due to too many people in too little space, too much concrete, and not enough wide open green spaces. Perhaps because of close proximity to Hollywood and that whole weird cultural phenomenon, too!
Andrea, about 10 years ago I took a trip to LA. Flew into LAX. My boyfriend at the time picked me up there and off we headed north. But I have to tell you, as bad as the traffic is here in Baltimore, I have NEVER seen anything like it was there in LA. I couldn't wait to get out and really couldn't believe how scarey it was!

I checked the 'REBELS' site---I could only see 1 REBEL---Their site is so small (with the big smudge)---hard to see much!---Wonder if that is H#2--hasn't fledged!
BLUEFIELD is nick-named Nature's Air Conditioned City because it does not get really hot very much, so, when our temperature reaches 90°, they give out free lemonade the next day.
It's funny, but I never noticed the culture shock as much as when we vacationed in the UK last summer, and then came home. Eeeww, what a difference! It's so green, smogless and gorgeous there, and so full of concrete, asphalt, high rises, roadside trash, SMOG, and graffiti here! It seems to be much better back east, but... hey, I think Hidey has landed on the camera! Nobody else announces their arrival like that. Good morning, Hidey-- how about dropping in so we can see you?
Andrea, I have heard that same culture shock thing from the many people I've know to have visited Ireland and the UK. My first order of business when I win the MegaMillions Jackpot is a long vacation in Ireland! After we left LA, though, it was beautiful. We drove through Central Valley and to Sequoia and Kings Canyon (WOW, cougar warnings and bear warnings everywhere!) and the up to Monteray and all of that was very beautiful!
Hi Folks! Been a wild week and have not had time to check in on the blog much. See that Hidey is no where to be seen this am...but hear that familiar 'sound' in the background :). Another day of threatening storms...my next door neighbor's son who goes to Handley in Winchester City - graduation was cancelled for last night and postponed until this evening again...shame as we think they could have gotten it off without too much issue...now does not look promising for sure for this evening again :( and all the after grad parties that have been scheduled for this afternoon and evening have to be 'revised' since they were planned for the ceremony to be done last night...ah...Mother Nature! Well best get to work...just wishing all a wonderful weekend...will try to check back later today as ususal...as time permits...blessings to you all!
Good Morning All!! It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Binghamton. Supposed to get in the mid 70s today. My kind of weather. Hear Hidey close by somewhere. Don't see s/he yet.
Hello Bozz, so true about the weather. We had a severe storm watch yesterday and it barely rained but the day before we got nailed! Have a great weekend!
Wanda, I put Splenda & half & half in it. It comes without either of them. I've got a Senseo coffee pod system, and Godiva recently started making coffee pods that work in it. Best thing since sliced bread! Morning, Sharon! Wow, free lemonade sounds great! How cool is THAT?! Lynne2, if you thought it was scary 10 years ago, you'd find it just crazy now! When you live here, you don't notice the gradual change as much unless you go somewhere else and then return. I was amazed in London, with all the horrible rush hour traffic, at how courteous everyone was. Don't find that too much in L.A..
Good morning all! Did not get on last night. Had a meeting at church. And, I will be going out to mow shortly. Going to spend the day in the yard. Looking good around here.
Can get only one cam up at OK. Can not see an eaglet on the wide angle cam. Does anyone know if it fledged?????????
MORNIN' BOZZ---I keep forgetting you aren't far away from WV---Isn't HANDLEY HS a beautiful school---haven't been inside since my kids outgrew the APPLE BLOSSOM DANCING?---ho!---cool memories!
LOL Norma, yup just hit the repeat button for the forecast...although, we have some sunshine right now! More than I've seen in the last couple of days!
LOLLY---I have been hearing all about the storms in TX!---Hope they aren't close to you all--aren't you & those GORGEOUS grand-kids going camping next week? They came to mow my lawn yesterday---didn't complain--it was wet!!---looked much better mowed---
I really need a cheat sheet. Maybe if you all could just email a brief life synopsis to the group we newbies could print them out...you know, home town, significant others, work or not, pets, kids, grand kids....that sort of thing! LOL!!!
Normabyrd, Thanks. She had surgery on Monday and came out with flying colors. She had a growth of some sort on her back. We've been dealing with it for 3 months, going 2-3 times a week to have it aspirated. They were puzzled at the vets office and couldn't tell me what it was. They removed the growth, her Dr. said it was very unusual what he found, said he'd never seen anything like it. Thought maybe it was some old sutures from a previous surgery she had to remove some fatty tumors from her back. Anyway, she had such a large growth on her back she looked like a "Schnauzer Camel" if you can picture that. She's recovering well going back for a follow up appt on Saturday and I'm hoping her biopsy results will be good. They did throw the "C" word out there, but if God is listening, she will be free of anything bad. Thanks for the compliment.
Norma, that's why I always unplug everything when I know a storm is coming. Washer, Dryer, Microwave, Computer, and one of the TVs....especially since my Renter's Insurance deductible has doubled!
It is going okay, I cleaned the cupboards yesterday--way too much stuff. I think there are 5 boxes of stuff to give away. The weather is not nice, though. A little sun would be nice.
Yep, we had severe storms! However, it was mostly just north of us. We had wind and 1/2 inch of rain. Four miles into town they got an inch of rain. Lots of flooding just north and east of us. Daughter, Laurel, got 2 1/2 inches of rain in an hour. They had to put out sand bags by a back door. The pasture behind them drains into their back yard!!!!! She had lots of branches down. We have a few down.
Okay, glad you saw the lump move. I left for a second to eat a bite of breakfast.
NORMA, good morning my wonderful friend!!! Yes, we are going camping in a week. However, we get the boys tomorrow. We will have them for 5 days while Laurel and Joey go to Santa Fe for a meeting. On the 22 we leave for Colorado!!!!!! Whoopee!!!!
Becky, Mattie's mother, just called and wanted me to put on her a prayer request. The daughter of a coworker, 14 years old, has been diagnosed with lymphoma and they have taken her to Tennessee today to a children's hospital to see what can be done. Becky is well aware of the power our prayers have on here, so, here it is. Let the prayers begin! :)
OK now I know who Roxie is....I'm glad she's OK post surgery. I know how scarey that can be. I have worked for veterinarians for the past 15 years, and I have pets of my own.
I found a hummer nest in the back yard. I saw the hummer fly up under the eave, but didn't think about it too much. Then later it went there again, so I grabbed my camera and there was the nest.
Michael and family are coming Sunday. That way all three boys can play in the back yard. Yea! Probably Monday we are going to Glen Rose to Dinosaur State Park to check out the dinosaur tracks. Boys love that! Also, there is a new commercial outfit right outside the park where the boys can see life size models of dinosaurs, and "ding" for dinosaur bones.
Might take them swimming one day. And another day just stay home. Jack has plans to help Joseph build a birdhouse in the workshop. We gave him his own tool kit for Christmas, but it has stayed here for him to use in Grandaddy's workshop. Busy! Busy! Busy!
Lynne2, I'd love to see Ireland someday, too. Guess we just need to buy the right Lotto ticket! I agree, CA is really beautiful farther north. The sequoias are absolutely awe inspiring! I gotta say, Yosemite is one of my favorite places, too, although it's getting much busier in recent years. I decided to change my avatar to a picture of a flower bed at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel, where we stayed near Edinburgh, Scotland. Just one of many gorgeous flower beds there. Loved the place so much I didn"t want to leave!
6/11/2009 :: Status of Fledglings The yellow banded female was returned to us from wildlife rehabilitation and we released her on the roof around 2 PM. She took flight within a half hour and is doing okay. The red and green banded females have been observed taking short flights to lower building rooftops. The white banded male has not yet been located. The blue banded female is content for now to rest at the ledge; she'll fledge in her own time.
MARLOWE, W.Va. — Northbound Interstate 81 in northern Berkeley County near Marlowe has reopened and the southbound lanes are expected to open soon, according to Steve Allen, Berkeley County Homeland Security director. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-81 in the Marlowe area had been closed since about 2 a.m., as the result of an accident involving an ethanol/gasoline tanker and a passenger vehicle. Allen said the wreckage was was still burning at 7:30 a.m. A plume of black smoke could be seen for several miles. A portion of U.S. 11 also was closed in Berkeley County near the wreckage because of the need to lay down hose lines to fight the fire, Allen said. He said that fighting the fire caused a running fire to the drainage culvert toward U.S. 11. But he said that was not related to the closure of the stretch of U.S. 11. Some homes in the area were evacuated, authorities said. No one had been transported from the scene, but the operator of the passenger vehicle was unaccounted for, Allen said. The truck had been fully involved in what Allen described as a “controlled burn.” Allen said that because the fuel contained ethanol, crews didn’t have the foam needed to control the blaze.
uh, I meant that in case I don't get back HERE at the blog this weekend, not in case I don't make it back this weekend as in I got eaten by a bear.....LOL
Sharon, prayers going up for your friend's daughter, and for Donka Maria's Roxie! Sounds like the gang in Texas could use some prayers, too-- hopefully no ark will be necessary! Don't want to hear of any tornado warnings, either! Lord, please don't subject us to too hard a testing!
I'm sorry! GOOD MORNING ALL - especially to you Wanda! I fell asleep last evening while lying in bed watching a TV movie and I think that is the very first time I didn't say Good Night to you all. Mits emailed and said I was on the Silver Alert and I really just got my butt out of bed a little while ago! I'll behave today - promise!
Holy Smokes, literally, Megan Thanks for the crash report. All this, is just been waiting to happen, same with trains coming through here. Sounds like it's time to get some foam available!
Sad for the passenger in the vehicle, does not sound good. Good for no other injuries though. God Bless the Emergency responders.
Have to say I am glad I was not working. Know how those 911 lines light up when there is a wreck on the interstate.
Good Morning Everyone... hope it is a good day for everyone, and nice to hear from Deb this morning ☺
Deb, good to have you back on the blog. My thoughts and prayers remain with you! Hey, so great you found a hummingbird nest! I just love those little critters! What a miraculous creation, the way they can fly backwards, and hover! Just amazing. Well, I'm gonna check the weather report on TV-- back in a sec! :o]
I have seen a humming bird's nest--my BIRDER friend had one in a tree on her lawn---Swear it was just a smidgen bigger than a quarter!!!--the nest was very tightly woven!
Missed the Eagle at BWO Paula, but there is a feeding at BWO now.
Two chicks at Finney land nest, hatched June 9 and June 10 - same as last year! Third egg last year hatched on June 13 - - all this from our Osprey-Eyed Suzanne !
THANK GOODNESS JO CHECKED IN WITH US! Jo, I can't remember a time that you didn't say good night except for the times you were in the hospital. I was really afraid something happened when you went to CVS:( I will tell 911 to call off the SILVER ALERT:) We love you Jo, and worry about you, so be careful about falling asleep BEFORE biding us GOOD NIGHT;)
GA-Girl, are those your roses in your Avatar? For the first time in the 30+ years that my Mom has lived where she is, the deer are eating her roses. They have always been her pride and joy and she is devistated! I'm going to try putting a square of platic netting on the tops of the bushes and see if that will deter them.
Morning all. Missed out on a lot of sleep during the night...lsitening to all the commotion on the scanner with the fires. The tanker was full of 8500 gallons of fuel, and they had to just let it burn off. At the same time, there was a fire at QuadGraphics plant, but missed how extensive it was or wasn't. Prayers for the person in the car, who apparently died. Definitely have Becky's friends' daughter in prayer, as well as Donkas' Roxie. All of these trips to the British Isles make me jealous...I want to go so bad. Almost did it last summer....cousin was going to pay my way...just couldn't do it---family dynamics and all that stuff! But she had a delightful time exploring our family roots. Too many comments to respond to, folks! Jim, would love to know who made your microwave dinner---sounds yummy! Pics are all great that you all have posted. Loretta, the Acropolis and Parthenon are amazing. Deb, know that what you are going through now is quite a chore, emotionally if not physically. Is Judy going to have to move? Did Uncle Bob make it to the services? Hope he is doing okay. Well, back to work I go.....getting close to the end of preparations, thank goodness! LAter, gators!
Hey, Jo! There you are-- good morning! Megan, prayers for all involved in and with the crash! Well, gang, I think I'm going to hit the road running and go up to the desert house today. It's supposed to be 'June gloom' until Tuesday, so no use waiting. I will wait a bit to see if the sun peeks through, though. Have some chores to finish first, so better get going. Take care, and TGIF! :o]
A couple of more comments before I head downstairs....many different reports about fire....one said they couldn't get close enough to use foam. Trying now to figure who is going to scrape up the melted debris. Most of roads re-opened...jsut southbound lanes of interstate remain closed. Margy, surprised you didn't get called in! TG they let you sleep! Didn't get my Hagerstown paper...needless to say! Bill said they just got theirs at the store, so maybe my guy will get here eventually! TTFN!
MORNIN' HEDGIE!---Is your Mother still at THE WOODS?---I wanted to tell you--you should just go spend the night with her--ho!---That a wonderful place!---Haven't been there for a while!!---
WANDA, I understand about the roses. Deer eat mine to the ground every year.Decided not to grow them any more. Until I got these. They are yellow knock-out roses and are suppose to be deer, beetle and black spot resistant. These showing are yellow that fade to cream. The bush isnt too big yet, just planted it this year, but already load with blooms.I'm excited about it ! I tried everything to ward them off (even the Irish Spring soap) nothing work. Maybe she can try these. Coming out with different colors all the time
GA-Girl...never heard of Deer Proof roses. That is good to know, will have to take Mom to look for some. She spends entirely too much time worrying about the deer and groundhogs. We built a fence around her garden and now the rabbits and groundhogs are trying to burrow underneath.
Hedgie, just read your post. That's terrible news about the accident on 81 and the person in the car who died. Prayers to all the responders, the deceased and their families and friends. Horrible.
Thanks for the prayer for Roxie. You all are so gracious and caring and I thank you for your concerns and kindness.
Am at work, will check in later. Everyone have a pleasant day!!
Wanda,It is very dispointing for the deer to eat everything. Just on one side of my house. They got all the 'special' hydrangeas I planted as well. Didnt touch my neighbors just a few feet away.Hopefully you will be able to find some and get her started again. That would be great. Thats a long time with roses to have them taken away like that. Good Luck hunting. that can be the fun part too. I love shopping for flowers.I have been doing it every weekend for the past 6 weeks
Oh My! I'm sitting here playing Facebook and semi-watching "The View" when a news announcement comes on about I81 at Martinsburg, WVa being closed down for the last 8 hours! Seems to be a lulu of an accident. They actually showed footage from early this morning with a huge plume of smoke!
What a coincidence! A week ago I wouldn't have even known where it was! They said they were opening I81this hour in one direction...I can't imagine the mess this has made....especially during a vacation month!
The nest is sure quiet...guess everyone over at the river...
Susan who can't mow because it's too bloomin' wet...
Ok, Susan, just looked it up. T-Bird lives in Bedford and I have a good friend who lives in Lynchburg and owns a hair salon. You are not too far from either one.
sorry..it takes me forever to answer on this dialup (at my house I've had cable modem for ten years...never knew how spoiled I was. Ricks' house is only three miles from mine but no cable and doesn't get satellite well because of trees and mountains..I'm doomed to a slow internet...)
I'm in the town of Amherst, 17 miles north of Lynchburg on Route 29 (home of Sweet Briar College and one of the two traffic cirlces left in VA)
Susan, haven't been to the particular place in Fairfax inyears, but there used to be a circle there....maybe will have to check when I go "home" next weekend! Did you see the nice one they have in Ranson, right next to CharlesTown (near the race track)? They have alot of them where my mom used to live in FL....they call them "calming areas"!!!! Like people are really calm when they confront something they don't understand! LOL. Norma, mom and sis arrive Mon. That's why I am still a whirling dervish (Margy loves that description of me!)...all of the heavy-duty stuff is FINISHED!! Will mow this afternoon, get my flower baskets tomorrow, groceries Sun., and a once-over lightly w/ the vacuum that day...and then all I will have to do is cook once they get here!
funny...DMV here in Va has announced last year they were going to build many more traffic circles in Va as they have been found to be a much more efficient method of routing heavy traffic. I say funny because I personally had to participate in a huge fight for YEARS to save ours. They tried on four different occasions to take ours down. I hated it from a historical perspective as Amherst has had one since the 1920's. Since I rode my bike aroud it as a child, I am a wee tad attached!
Deer, rabbits, groundhogs, squirrels, mice, moles, feral cats, got them all and I'm willing to have them relocated to anywhere but here.... I was awakened this morning by the sound of one of the baby mockingbirds ouside my window, so far both seem to be doing ok, they are very far apart in the yard, so each parent seems to be tending to one.
Osprey in Finney Land nest still seems to be paying a Lot of attention to that egg! It will be "tomorrow" there (June 13) in five hours....hoping for #3.
Hidey, oh Hidey, where are you ? Guess I'll have to hope for a view after nap time.
Sounds Good Megan, for little Mockies ☺
Be careful everyone, and enjoy the remainder of your West Coast, Mountain and Central time mornings, and your Eastern time afternoons.
WHOA!---REBEL Site is showing the #2 EAGLET-----the only EAGLET in the nest that hasn't fledged!!--name is AZALEA---She has the transmitter!!---she claimed the pigeon that parents dropped in nest----NOW!!--(what do i do with this thing)--ho!---bless her heart!!
We are going into the afternoon hours - no sighting of our Hidey! It is such a beautiful day out there - I hope Hidey is flying high - just heard a nose at the cam but it was probably the wind.
I was reading all the 'car talk' from last evening. Oh the memories brought back from some of your experiences mentioned.
See Ok eaglet. Was surprised when I went to that cam that both views came up. Time for that birdie to fly!
Worked in the yard until just a little while ago and then something unexpected got me out of the yard and cleaned up. Going out to eat a late lunch. A former student called, wanted me to meet her and her grandmother for lunch. Going to surprise her Grandmother. She does not know I will be there. Mind you...I taught this child when she was 5, she is now the mother of two little boys. Her Grandmother volunteered in my room. Should be fun! It has been years since I have really seen and talked with both of them, Did run into Ashley at Wal Mart a few months ago. Talked with her briefly. She recognized me...I did NOT recognize her.
PAULA......We will be going to Rocky Mountain Natl. Park. Entrance at Estes Park, Co. This is where we have gone for years. Same campground for years, 3rd time at very same camp site. It is level for trailer, level area for tent, rocks for boys to climb on, not too far, not too close to the restroom, and a FANTASTIC view. It is like going home when we go there. Have had the site reserved for months! Can hardly wait to get there!
Best laid plans....got half the mowing done, stopped to open gate to dogs' yard and mower wouldn't restart---dead as a doornail...put charger on it....sure hope it charges up so I can finish---especially before it rains! I can't win!! ARGH.....
Also found that someone stole the No Trespassing sign on the rope chain that we put across the back of the property where the 4-wheelers came in. Criminals!
That certainly wasn't the most encouraging report we've had on Buddy..poor juvie. He is probably hankering to soar. Hope he starts eating right again. Thanks, Jim. I had forgotten to check for an update this month.
Okay, mower started back up----it wasn't the battery....called Mr. Bill...I hadn't disengaged the blade before I tried to restart....duh! Do I feel dumb? Nah....just a woman thing! Mowing done...found a dead adult robin in the dog yard...now I know why dog's been acting funny about going out today...poor bird.
Know you all will enjoy this. At one of the elementary schools today a mother duck and eight babies just appeared and was hanging out at a puddle. The little chicklets were like new borns. Thing is that there isnt any water around to have nested at. Wondering if she nested near a pool in the neighborhood.
I'm thinking the last one with the transmitter harness finally fledged. The nest is MT and they are panning the cam and now not a one in sight. Must be she isn't branching but fledged? Not real sure.
Okay, now I see 2 of our babies in the tree branching, but I swear they weren't there when the camera was zooming in and panning the nest and surrounding branches. Must be the "End of the Week Brain Fart."
Good afternoon all. Lisa tells me there have been reports of an intruder osprey near the BWO nest. She thinks it had nothing to do with the nest being down to one chick. I did see a lone osprey not too far from the BWO nest last weekend but it didn't approach the nest. I may try to check it out this weekend.
DonkaMaria - I am trying to find the link to the NBG chat room and can't locate it! To me right now the nest appears to be MT.
Hi Bob I sure hope the intruder goes elsewhere to intrude! Down to 1 chick is enough commotion for this season! Let us know if you find any info at the refuge.
Well, this morning first thing, FireFox installed a new version, and I opened all my Internet stuff in that.
Went to AOL for email purposes, and after a while it froze up, amongst other malfunctional things. So I shut it down and proceeded to clean up temp files, etc.
I got alllllmmooosst done with that...
Windows crashed!!
I'm mad enough to spit, but I don't know which direction to do it in this time.
Watching the OK nest - eaglet had been seen up on the post.. Right now he is just running around the nest area - The nest cam is about 15 sec delay from the wide view. Should be ready for that first flight!
Ricky, love the duckling story! Jim, good luck with your computer! Bob, anyone...would a lone Osprey do damage at the nest? I sure hope not! You know, 2 weeks ago tomorrow befoe we left for camping, we checked on Hidey and for the first time the nest was empty. I was afraid I'd never see him again, but I didn't know about the branching before fledge (Hidey is my first eaglet). But now I am leaving for camping again and I know that it IS possible that by the time we get back he'll be gone. I hope it's still too soon for that! Have a great weekend everyone, and be safe!
oh Donka Maria...I can't tell those Rebels apart either except for the transmitter on Azalea! She was in a branch and they had a fantastic close up of her this morning!
Lynne - A lone osprey wouldn't damage the nest or inhabitants but what happened last year is it bothered the parents to the point where they left the nest undefended and some crows destroyed the eggs. Hopefully since there is a viable chick the threat is lessened but the chick is still pretty vulnerable.
Bob, I would hope that the adults would battle an intruder since they do have a chick. Jim, that's a bummer...everything working okay now? Have a good trip, Lynne2....and hope you don't run into anymore snakes!
yeah Paula! I'm glad...I'm just not READY!! But I don't think I really ever will be and I'm sure you all must feel the same way, every time you've watched Libery and Belle raise a family. hahaha! Thanks Lynn, not really anxious to see another one! Bye everyone!
SPEAKING OF SNAKES - me and Justin were walking out to Sissy's and there was a black and white striped snake in my yard right beside the ramp. Justin was really scared. I was alright with it until it started coming towards us.
Time to get ready for my work Friday...still time to wear RED.
I put a few pictures on Wildflowers and Feathers links. Includes Belted Kingfishers at our fish hatchery in Leetown, and a crazy batch of honeysuckle growing out of the top of a sign.
Something being eaten in the nest. Funny that we should worry about things getting eaten at Pete's Pond and watch the eagles rip critters apart every day.

Good Morning Steve & Lynne2!
What a glorious Friday. Thanks for this beautiful new dry-for-the-moment-thread, Steve!
Morning Lori! Looks like everyone else is sleeping in this morning!
NBG babies swaying in the breeze this morning, I only see 2 of them.
Zebras at Pete's Pond
I can't get Pete's Pond but I think you're right about everyone sleeping in. Lucky them! :)
HA! sleeping in, not...I've been outside and am headed back there.
Morning all:)
Big accident in WV this am, MARLOWE, W.Va.
C U Later
THANKS STEVE for this THUNDER thread----HAVE A FUN WEEKEND WITH FAMILY!!!!--
Thanks LYNNE2 for the call over!!
I couldn't get Pete's either until someone told me to install RealPlayer. I just googled to get the website and loaded it on! It's really cool, but poor Norma said she saw a croc take down an animal there so she can't watch. That sort of thing is the ugly side of nature.
wow Megan, that accident sounds terrible, prayers for everyone involved and in the area.
By the way, Megan, your flower pictures are just beautiful! I worked part time for a year in a small flower shop. I also spent 4 springs working at a small local garden center, too, and I just LOVED it!
Morning Norma!
GOOD MORNING YA"LL from GA. Another hot day with those afternoon storms. Bless them, let mother nature do the watering. Hope everyone has a great day and great weekend.........
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES AGAIN!!---I just left my morning wishes on the last blog---(to read you must go back) ho!---
CONGRATS! LYNN2---You are our EAGLE MOM--today & every day!!--MORNIN' LYNNE2--LORI & MEGAN!!--
WHOA! MEGAN---that must be terrible--those darn' trucks are so dangerous!!---prayers for all those folks----MEGAN--KEEP US INFORMED---our Hagerstown TV is off this am----
It looks like the bird feeders at Snowman Cam are gone....
ABC-CH7--Just announced 'INTERSTATE 81' CLOSED---both ways--accident!!
Morning GA Girl! Whew, we have had SO MUCH rain....muggy muggy muggy for so early in the summer here in central Maryland. We call this sort of thing "The Marazon" after the Amazon!
Morning Andrea!
You know, I don't know if it's that I'm getting older or the world is getting stupider, but why can't everyone just SLOW DOWN and be careful!
To that end, I pray for safe travel mercies for everyone who is traveling this weekend (including us cause we're going camping again) and always!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is 69° here in Hidey Land and just a bit cloudy. It was sunny and beautiful a short while ago. The morning sun was skimming across my backyard garden and everything looked so fresh and pretty. Love that time of the morning:)
I hate to be an alarmist this early in the day, but, Jo did not tell us 'GOOD NIGHT' last night, which is rare for her. Jo, if you are up and about this morning...please let us know that you are OK, or I will put out a SILVER ALERT for you!
MORNIN' MS-B --What's for breakfast?---
Morning Wanda, Love the Barred Owl video!!! And the pic of your grandson and the baby cardinal...how adorable!
I'm going to have to figure out how to make a blog!
LYNNE2---Remember to get your 'SNAKE PERMIT'! ho!-just kidding!!---I hope the the rain stays away from you all!----
Good morning everybody!
MORNIN'WANDA!---I am glad you can't awake JO!!---She stays up late!--Don't think she is a morning person---ho!
Morning Sharon!
MORNIN' BLUEFIELD SHARON!---Has your temp reached 90° yet---you must explain to the 'new kids'--what happens in your City of BLUEFIELD when the temp reaches 90°---
Hi, Norma,
Eggs, toast & coffee!
90 in Bluefield? uh oh....sounds bad!
LOVE 'GODIVA' CANDY!---Haven't tried the COFFEE---sounds good!!
NO LYNN!---wait till SHARON tells you---it's fun!!
I can't wait to hear this!!!
GOOD FRIDAY A.M. EVERYONE:)
in the mean time, how do I make a blog?
Good Morning Mits!

AMEN
I checked the 'REBELS' site---I could only see 1 REBEL---Their site is so small (with the big smudge)---hard to see much!---Wonder if that is H#2--hasn't fledged!
Andrea, is that Godiva coffee with or without cream and sugar? Is it similar to International Cafe Coffees, which alread have cream and sugar?
BLUEFIELD is nick-named Nature's Air Conditioned City because it does not get really hot very much, so, when our temperature reaches 90°, they give out free lemonade the next day.
HI YA LYNNE2;)
LOL Lori, dry for the moment, and sunshine for the moment, too!
Morning, all!
Lynne 2...on your profile page, click on BLOGGER, then, click on Create a Blog and go on from there. Need more help...just holler:)
MORNIN' MITS---you don't need a new weather forecast--just keep the one you used Mon---ho!--(I heard a weather person say that)
Morning Paula!
Thanks Wanda...I will give that a try later if I have time. I have some pics I could put on...I've really enjoyed looking at everyone else's!
Sharon, that's really cool that they do that! Bluefield must be one of those wonderful small towns that I sooooo wish I lived in!
MORNIN' PAULA!---Do you have the same ole--same ole weather?
well I will take this rain any day, not home to water plants, and love that God takes over;)
Andrea, I have heard that same culture shock thing from the many people I've know to have visited Ireland and the UK.
I hear Hidey!
nice breeze at Hidey House today
Don't see any babies at the NGB site. Have they all fledged?
Hello Bozz, so true about the weather. We had a severe storm watch yesterday and it barely rained but the day before we got nailed! Have a great weekend!
Good morning Donka Maria!
No, I saw two of them swaying in the breeze on their branches early this morning.
Good Morning to you Lynne.
It's sometimes difficult to see with that dried up ol spider in the camera. Thanks for the update!! I will continue to look for them.
There is a "lump" that could be the eagle. Need to watch to see if the lump moves. LOL
WHOA!---DANKA--Love ROXIE!---She is cool!!
Morning Lolly! Yep, that lump moved!
LOLLY---I have been hearing all about the storms in TX!---Hope they aren't close to you all--aren't you & those GORGEOUS grand-kids going camping next week?
They came to mow my lawn yesterday---didn't complain--it was wet!!---looked much better mowed---
who's Roxie?
I really need a cheat sheet. Maybe if you all could just email a brief life synopsis to the group we newbies could print them out...you know, home town, significant others, work or not, pets, kids, grand kids....that sort of thing! LOL!!!
Finally, the blog wouldn't let me in, I had to go to blogger and log in there.
WE have been getting our severe thunder storms in the evening!---LOUD THUNDER & LIGHTING!---blew out a friend's puter! yesterday!
Lolly I have see the eaglet in OK in the nest this a.m.
HEY DEB! How are you?
Morning Deb, how is it going?
ROXIE---is that BEAUTIFUL DOG one can see on DONKA'S avatar!!---ISN'T SHE A BEAUTY?
Morning, Deb. How are ya? Hope everything is going OK.
MORNIN'---MORNIN--DEB!!----how are
you?---miss you---
It is going okay, I cleaned the cupboards yesterday--way too much stuff.
Whoopee!!!!
don't work too hard, Deb
Becky, Mattie's mother, just called and wanted me to put on her a prayer request. The daughter of a coworker, 14 years old, has been diagnosed with lymphoma and they have taken her to Tennessee today to a children's hospital to see what can be done. Becky is well aware of the power our prayers have on here, so, here it is. Let the prayers begin! :)
Norma..if I knew how to do that.. I would do it just for you !!...lol
I did come to the blog one night when I couldnt sleep and put it in..it was raining then.. dont think any one caught on to it though
OK now I know who Roxie is....I'm glad she's OK post surgery. I know how scarey that can be. I have worked for veterinarians for the past 15 years, and I have pets of my own.
Add my prayer's for the young girl, Sharon.
DONKA---will certainly send a prayer up for ROXIE----bless her little heart!
I found a hummer nest in the back yard. I saw the hummer fly up under the eave, but didn't think about it too much. Then later it went there again, so I grabbed my camera and there was the nest.
Lynn2, five minutes after our famous pop up afternoon showers it is so muggy here you cant breathe
Thank you all for the prayers. Yes, the power of prayer is an amazing thing. God Bless you All!!
Busy! Busy! Busy!
Time to go, have a lot to get done today. I am enjoying spending time with my uncle and two of his kids. They are from Palmyra, VA.
prayers for sure, Sharon
Deb, good to have you back home. I would give most anything to see a Hummingbird's Nest in my yard! Let us know when you post the photo.
Oh, cool, Deb!!!! I have always wanted to find a hummer nest. Can't wait to see your pictures.
We have certainly been thinking about you!
Are you still in Ca. Deb? I am not up to date on much of anything...spending so much time in the yard and garden.
my prayers go out to Donka's pretty little pooch..
I don't think Deb is home, Wanda.
Lynne2,
I'd love to see Ireland someday, too.
Loved the place so much I didn"t want to leave!
from PA falcon cam....
6/11/2009 :: Status of Fledglings
The yellow banded female was returned to us from wildlife rehabilitation and we released her on the roof around 2 PM. She took flight within a half hour and is doing okay. The red and green banded females have been observed taking short flights to lower building rooftops. The white banded male has not yet been located. The blue banded female is content for now to rest at the ledge; she'll fledge in her own time.
DEB--if memory serve me right---that's good to keep busy--with things---(hope i'm saying it right)
MEANS---thinking of you----
think Deb, will be home Sunday night
Prayer for the little girl
The truck had been fully involved in what Allen described as a “controlled burn.”
Allen said that because the fuel contained ethanol, crews didn’t have the foam needed to control the blaze.
Okay, guys, time to hit the yard before it starts getting too warm. Up to 77 right now...on it's way up!
So, glad you are having time to enjoy your yard Wanda. That's what it all about! Make your little bit of heavean on earth and enjoy it!! LOL
HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!
bbl
Well, this has been fun but I have to go run some errands before packing up for camping.
In case I don't get back this weekend, stay safe, everyone, and have a beautiful fun weekend!
Lolly, where are going in Colorado?
Take care, Deb.
uh, I meant that in case I don't get back HERE at the blog this weekend, not in case I don't make it back this weekend as in I got eaten by a bear.....LOL
GA Girl, thanks for your prayers.
Holy Smokes, literally, Megan
Thanks for the crash report.
Prayers for Becky's co-worker's daughter, Sharon....and for all others we are praying for here.
Eaglet at BWE
SHARON!--prayers for your friend & continued prayers for SISSY'S husband--TOM!
Thanks for the update--MEGAN!--What a TERRIBLE TRAGEDY !!---having no foam to fight the fire-!
Mits has it correct,☺ Deb returns home Sunday night 6 pm into Sioux Falls SD.
I have seen a humming bird's nest--my BIRDER friend had one in a tree on her lawn---Swear it was just a smidgen bigger than a quarter!!!--the nest was very tightly woven!
Norma
When are you going to get email back ????
Missed the Eagle at BWO Paula, but there is a feeding at BWO now.
Two chicks at Finney land nest, hatched June 9 and June 10 - same as last year! Third egg last year hatched on June 13 - - all this from our Osprey-Eyed Suzanne !
TTFN xoxox
THANK GOODNESS JO CHECKED IN WITH US! Jo, I can't remember a time that you didn't say good night except for the times you were in the hospital. I was really afraid something happened when you went to CVS:( I will tell 911 to call off the SILVER ALERT:) We love you Jo, and worry about you, so be careful about falling asleep BEFORE biding us GOOD NIGHT;)
OH! MAGPIE---I keep thinking I will get a new computer every day--Just keep putting it off!!--LORDY!--LORDY! I miss SUZANNE!!!!
That Finny egg looked as if it was hatching...may have been a shadow.
Is anyone watching the stork nest at beleef de lente???
Yes, Norma, I miss Suz too. Her morning comentary was wonderful. She didn't miss a thing:)
FEEDING AT FINNEY'S
GA-Girl, are those your roses in your Avatar? For the first time in the 30+ years that my Mom has lived where she is, the deer are eating her roses. They have always been her pride and joy and she is devistated! I'm going to try putting a square of platic netting on the tops of the bushes and see if that will deter them.
Helen, are you at the Condo now. I can't keep up with you, you jet setting girl!
OSPREY at FINLAND feeding young --NOW!
YES WANDA, back at the condo, waiting for Ceil, Jim and MM to arrive, she called about 30 minutes ago, they were in Cambridge
Coming out with different colors all the time
Helen, hope all you gals enjoy your weekend and that the weather is perfect for you:) Remember your sunblock, if you go on the beach.
Me surprised too, Lynn...but not disappointed!
Road surface is probably going to need to be re-done....
Saw the feeding at Finney's. Mother has been kind of twitchy, could be that third hatch on the way.
Norma Suzanne misses you! I told her your emails have been down for a looooooong time.
Good Travel and Fun Wishes for everyone...This is a work week-end for me.
xox
Susan
who can't mow because it's too bloomin' wet...
Susan, where did you say you live?
Susan, they are bringing back traffic circles everywhere in MD...I like them better than stop signs!
SUSAN C-VA---You have good taste--I have been watching 'THE VIEW' too!----a favorite of mine--
just a quickie, NBG eaglet with transmitter close up!!
funny...DMV here in Va has announced last year they were going to build many more traffic circles in Va as they have been found to be a much more efficient method of routing heavy traffic.
TTFN Good Night....
MAGPIE---I was watching that sight earlier---YEP!---I think you hit it on the nose!!!
need food---
We are going into the afternoon hours - no sighting of our Hidey! It is such a beautiful day out there - I hope Hidey is flying high - just heard a nose at the cam but it was probably the wind.
I was reading all the 'car talk' from last evening. Oh the memories brought back from some of your experiences mentioned.
** GooD MORNING **

Small birds are making themselves at home in the MT nest.
Hello to everyone in Hidey-land.
Azalea, the middle eaglet at NBG has not fledged. Her older and younger sibs have.
Please enjoy the weekend.
JMP
Hello JMP - You enjoy your weekend!
Azalea is the one with the transmitter - hopefully it will keep track of her.
New entries in Buddy's blog.
Feeding at NBG ..might be done now. I saw one of the fledglings perched on that front branch that was so popular with them a couple of years ago.
No. 2 still hasn't fledged ... don't exactly know why. Maybe she's in shock after watching her sister fall out of the nest.
There's an eaglet flaked out at BWE.

Well, Hidey's home now!

There is our loud little baby!
Finney is up, I can see two chicks.

HIDEY HO!
You don't suppose there could be some reason due to Azalea's harness that is delaying her wanting to fledge do you?
BOY.. SOMEONE IS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE
Hidey looked like she was scratching her belly on the nest.
What a big cry baby!!! Oh, my!
Gotta go, gotta go dry my hair and fix it!
BBL
Awesome close-up of the eaglett in the NBG nest, not sure which one though, can't keep them straight.

Boy Jim - that is not good!
BBILW
Thanks Bob...I sure hope the parents stay this time.
Lynne - Hidey will still be here when you get back...
The osprey parents will vigorously defend the nest. It is during those battles that bad things happen. Here are some shots from last year's nest:

chick getting some attention at BWO and one lone turkey enjoying life at PIX PA
Happy Friday Eagle Friends ☺
SPEAKING OF SNAKES - me and Justin were walking out to Sissy's and there was a black and white striped snake in my yard right beside the ramp. Justin was really scared. I was alright with it until it started coming towards us.
Thanks for the Battle Replay, Bob.
Time to get ready for my work Friday...still time to wear RED.
I put a few pictures on Wildflowers and Feathers links. Includes Belted Kingfishers at our fish hatchery in Leetown, and a crazy batch of honeysuckle growing out of the top of a sign.
"See you" friendly people Saturday.
xoxo, and Prayers....♥
Outta here! Catch you all later.
There's an adult in the nest munching on something.
Well, I had just opened cam and saw adult in nest, then it stopped, now all I got is grey screen and endless barber pole....
Something being eaten in the nest. Funny that we should worry about things getting eaten at Pete's Pond and watch the eagles rip critters apart every day.
I think it's Belle brought in a fish and then decided to eat it herself.

Margy....don't forget shuttle launch at 7:17am---tune in before you hit the hay! Prayers for a peaceful shift for you.
