I'm back, but connection is not any faster. Going to be a frustrating day, I can see it now. Lisa updated the BW osprey web page, with some of the photos I sent you guys yesterday, or our Fin nest! Fin mom in nest grooming, chick is gone, so feeding time must be over. Osprey still in nest on 2nd Fin cam. Norma's stork in resting in nest, and there is an owl in the hotel. PS still is down, and too dark to see swallows. Poor Bai Yun is laying flat on her back, all 4 legs spread out wide. Trying to get comfy, I guess. Haven't had a chance to see when her baby is due, but I sure hope it's soon. She does not look comfortable!
Ok, Bai Yun has been verified with ultrasound with 1 fetus, not 2 yet, and she's due this month, August. She's on 24 hour birth watch. I know she'll be happy when she has this baby!

GOOD MORNING SUZ-- I was just reading your comments about the SD Panda and the fact that a natural mating was successful. Wonder why this is so unusual? I find it interesting that even the artificial method isn't always successful (like our DC panda). I need to read up on this.
I watched Mrs. Fin last night in the nest for the longest time, looking all around for her chick. It reminded me of when my daughters were teens and waiting on them to get home from a date. Agonizing. Now they are waiting on their children to get home from dates. (what goes round comes round) lol
Morning, Wanda! I think they have a hard time breeding animals in captivity, that may be why everyone is so thrilled it was a successful mating. Are you watching he? She seems like she can't get comfy, poor thing. I feel so sorry for her. I know this is natural, but she just acts like she is not at all comfy! LOL, on the kids getting home, ain't that the truth! I was watching this morning, and he returned as soon as mom started to take a bite of the fish! almost landed on her head, but then she fed him. Don't think she has much patience with him feeding himself, he takes too long! But he's gotta learn, so she needs to let him start feeding himself. I haven't been watching too closely this morning, Bai Yun has me rivited!
Bai Yun lays down on her back, then tries her side, then her tummy, then she sits up. Sure hope she has this baby soon. She's sitting up now, oh, no, walking out of cam view, hope the operators are there to follow her! Well, darn, no they aren't! Course it is 3:48 in the morning, but I thought she was on 24 hour baby watch. Maybe someone is there, just not a cam operator.
She's still off cam, so I hope she's just walking around trying to get comfy. Wouldn't it be cool if she had the baby on cam! Both Mom and chick are back in Finland, and guess what...eating again!
Oh, Mom must have heard me. Chick stole the fish, and I thought Mom was leaving, but she just spread her wings a bit and turned her back. think chick brought the fish to her now, he wants to be fed. They're fighting over the fish, both flapping wings. Mom had fish in her talons, chick right up there with her.
She has half the straw up against her entry way, and she's eating it or trying to stay down and use it as a blanket. She's really taking her aggression out on that straw! Op, now we're pulling it apart and gonna either eat it or bite it. Oh, she has straw all over now. Sitting there just pulling it apart. Oh, cam operator is there, cam is moving. Well, now she's just sitting in it, but she is covered up to her waist in the torn straw.

One line, of course.
Didn't read far enough. It was a natural mating with Gao Gao! How cool is that!!
Just checked the Cormorants, and believe it or not, there is a hooded crow right in the sand in the front of the cam! How cool is that!

Osprey back on 2nd Fin cam, and looks like there is a sod ball too!

They're fighting over the fish, both flapping wings. Mom had fish in her talons, chick right up there with her.
Finally, here comes Bai Yun back in her den!
She's making a nest, she's really digging up that straw, or whatever it is.
Well, she turned over and now she's laying down in her new bed.
Now she's back up again, just sitting in the straw.
Our Fin chick is still eating, being fed by Mom.
Back to laying down with arm over our face.
Wanda, I'm talking too much, didn't mean to scare you off here! Or did the Captain wake up and you're having coffee with him?
Bai Yun trying to get comfy, keeps changing positions and rearranging straw...oh there it goes again. Fin chick still eating.
Oh wow, she stood up! She is very close to the cam when she stands.
Food gone, Mom left, chick looking around. BaiYun trying to lay down again.
Bai Yun is now laying on her tummy.
New thread---Come on over.
