He was checking in on the route the Eagle Train takes on Map Quest. Noticed that there were 0 comments and wondered why. I told him there was a new thread and to type something. His FIRST time on a blog.
Gene, are you guys watching the Kent and Puget Sound eagles? All are very frisky today, doing lots of wing flaps. Eggbert just disappeared off cam again, was doing big wing flaps!
Well, Wanda, at least he picked the best blog there is, as the first one for him to try blogging! Now get him watching the cams, and you guys will need another computer...his and hers! He'll get hooked like the rest of us!
there goes one of the Kent chicks flapping, and he continue. He must have a lot of energy this morning. Now he is up to the edge of nest and now back in nest as a parent , no parent didn't stay too long. He is still aonthe edge of the nest longing for flight.
Suzanne, At least he will be in better shape than I am. I was just thinking that I should get dressed and walk today, but guess what. This blog won in the end. :)
Think that was Einstein watching Albert closely. Albert looked away, and Einstein was trying to steal whatever it was. These 2 are a riot when it comes to food!
Yup, Ladies, this Blog is very addictive. I don't want Gene to get too interested in the cams or we will be arguing over whose turn it is on the Puter.
We're gonna lose Eggbert for a while. Can almst see his feet. He's on his branch, but the sun is rising, and you can't see him anymore! Not even his feet, now.
Suzanne I am surprised the owls are back in the nest or is it Frida and Diego who keep coming back. I feel sad that the Va cam is down for the season , that was the first cam I discovered then Maine then here.
I'm going to take the girls to the Houston science and nature museum after Tori's Doctor visit, so if anyone has been there please let me know which exhibis would be worth while going to as there are quite a few.
Looking forward to what we may see in our journeys south and acrss he gulf states.
Wanda nice to see Gene posting, now if we could only get my mom to chime in :)
Morning, Robyn! Not sure what the Falcon's names are in Australia, want to say Frieda and Frodo, but not sure. Don't know Frieda and Diego. Names are familiar, but not sure who they are and what birds. The Benicia owls have been coming back for quite a while. Reclaiming the nest after babies all gone, and grooming each other and beaking. Reaffirming their bond. Never been to Houston, sorry, no help for you. You should check out Kent. They are a riot this morning!
GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!---"THE LITTLE PRINCE"---is up close to the window, half lying down & chewing his BAMBO----in front of his ADORING AUDIENCE---Lots of pic snapping----HE CERTAINLY LOVES TO PUT ON A SHOW!!!----GOD LOVE EM!!!
GOOD MORNING JIM. YOU DO THE SAME:) SC is up but Limuw is off looking for something to eat. We have been watching the Kent and Puget nests this morning. They have been active.
At least one CT osprey has fledged!! Only one in the nest this morning, and that one is about ready too, was just hovering above the nest for about 5-7 seconds!
We had a sprinkle of rain this a.m.----but I think it has quit---should have it off & on today!!!--MEGAN---I have been doing the "rain dance"---You try it now!! ho!--It is cloudy & temp. 75°!!---CONGRATS!!! GENE!!---You are #1 ---WANDA had already knew that!!---ho! ho!---HELLO GENE--CANDY--SUZANNE---ROBYN--PAULA & MOVIN'JIM---
OH!!---How I love watching the KENT DUO!!----TOO FUNNY FOR WORDS!!!---Remember when 1st hatched---"perfect gentlemen"---now BRO & SIS are still well mannered---BUT---WILL NOT SHARE FOOD!!!
Candy, I haven't really seen them eat, but Einstein keeps coming back to the nest when Albert acts like he has something to eat. Too funny. Einstein left the tree! Jim, think that's the first time! Look at Albert watching him! He must be off to the right. Or no, now maybe center. Think Alberts watching.
Great news Steve- keep us posted on the new cam equipment! Let's see, good morning, Suzanne, Candy, Paula, Jim, Robyn, Wanda and Norma! Hello Gene! Welcome! Beautiful cloudy day here, showers all around, hope we get some. Had a brief shower early this am. Tried dancing, Norma, it just seemed to scare the birds away..lol
The harsh thunderstorms that went through New York yesterday knocked the Puleston cam off line and the whole site too. They are hoping to get it up today or tomorrow....
THE STORK CHICKS will begin to hop up & then rise up to about 10 ft. within the next few days---(the cam has been adjusted so we can watch)---Soon it will be hard to tell them apart from the parents---Their beak is still black ---w/turn reddish-brown soon like parents---Their legs will do the same---But CHICK & PARENTS WILL BE ABOUT SAME SIZE!!----AWESOME BIRDS TO WATCH!!!!
Thanks for the stork info, Norma. They are beautiful birds! Think Albert wants to get down, but hasn't worked up his nerve to either fly or jump down. Or do an Einstein, and walk down!
GOOD MORNING MEGAN! I sure wish those sunflowers were here in my yard. They are sure beautiful. Maybe if we all do a rain dance for you, it would work. We got some rain Tues., but none since.
Was on the phone. Norma, Einstein left his branch just as Jim asked, and was flying around. Albert was watching him, moving his head only. Then Albert got to this side of the nest and did big flaps, and flew to the tree. Now he doesn't know how to get down, poor thing! Guess Einstein is either still flying around, or he's perched on another tree! Poor Albert is stuck! Too funny, Candy, yup, no splinters for the big Albert! Morning, Dana. We're having quite an adventure in Kent this morning!
I have been sitting here waiting for Paula's Conn osprey to take off. Just seems to stand there like a statue. Can't even see his face. I think I see a foot now in Puget nest. Yes Eggbert is there again. Limuw must be having a big breakfast, as he has yet to come back to his nest And poor Albert is still hanging on for dear life. On the count of three, Albert, go for it! l,2,3......Nope
Hi Jill and Dana! rained here around 6:30, just barely, only lasted about 5 minutes. Drizzling here on and off now, sun is trying to break thru the clouds though. Just finished wolfing down a sandwich, back outside to water.
Thanks Paula I just got caught up on the blog. Seen it before. Someone thought the other had two. Do you think it has just been the one that is gone now?
One is still hanging in the CT nest...but he has been hovering over it at times....should be ready anytime! He was born 3 days after the first one, so we may have to wait another couple of days.
Jo don't know which Owl cam I was watching. The Owl was in a hole in a tree. This other Owl flew up to the hole where the others head was sticking out. Fed it a BIG LONG FIHSING Worm. That Owl gobbled it down FASTTTT !!
Good Late Morning Man oh Man! Love it when I read opening messages on a new thread such as what Steve wrote this morning! Thanks for the update Steve
I spent too much time over in my emails! I just didn't want to get into mail jail. I have about 41 comments to catch up with on the previous thread and now 90 on here. Oh Oh Where do I begin!
HELLO DANA & JILL----DANA how are you feeling today?----I certainly hope you are getting better---That must be terribly PAINFULL!!--------JILL---I wanted to tell you---I LOVE YOUR EAGLE!!!----B. MORNIN' JO!-----I have been in the same boat---WAY behind on my emails & reading yesterday's blog to catch up!!!!--Having been watching the KENTS today----BUTA BUTA was asleep much earlier!!!--ho!
Momster ladies, this is the second time in my life that I have been surrounded by so many lovely ladies. Enjoyed your company very much. I'll tell you about the 1st time the next time I see you. Gene
Good morning, Mits! Still morning for a few more minutes! OMG, Albert is up the tree again. Guess he's really feeling brave now that he finally figured out how to get back down! How cool! Our babies are growing up!
Gene, we're gonna have to get you your own name! We enjoyed meeting you and enjoy having you on the blog! Told Wanda, you picked the best blog there is to try your hand at blogging!
Good Morning all. Its a beautiful morning and still cool. That will change. I got an email last night from a sweet lady named Patti who lives in Virginia and wanted to encourage me to go to Williamsberg. She discribed her self as a lurker and Patti in my book your the best. So Patti welcome to our blog and your more than welcome. Jo I was really surprised you were up so late last night answering emails. Part owl are we? Well, tomorrow is payday and a really busy day for me so I had better get done all I can today. I'll be back off and on.
I sent out ALBERT photos. If I missed anyone - forward them OR go over to the Kent Gallery and look at them + more! Right this very minute Albert is up in the tree. I really feel that today just might be his day of fame & I sure hope and I know Loraine hopes that he stays out of the driveways!
You're breaking my heart! I didn't know THEY are ARTIFICAL! I had so much respect for that nest - I even brought it to the attention of all my family members! DUH.............
So where on that site can you find something to read since all I see is not in my language! Send me a link. Boy oh Boy! Sometimes things just aren't what they look like, are they?
Hummmmmmmm, have to think of that, Gene! Big Boy Albert is higher in the tree! He's up on the perch almost, just hasn't quite made it out on that limb yet! My, we are getting brave now. Bet he makes it to the limb before the day is over! Hope Einstein comes back to see him! Norma, I didn't know the Fin nests were artificial! They are masterpieces! You're right, works of art. Jo, got the pics, thanks. Also sent ones to you of his flaps this morning and little landing in the tree. Think he was just so surprised he couldn't figure out how to get down. He's got it now, he'll be arguing with Einstein about the tree and branch now! Morning, Heidi Girl. Thanks for the Gypsy pets, Norma. She's liking you! She gets extra pets from you!!
Gene, how bout "EagleExpress"? Name of your RV now, but you're the driver, and a very important person to us, but we don't want to call you Eagle Express driver!
?????? I don't know. Quitting time for me, been a long day. The ol' grey cells aren't functioning too well at this hour!
I'm just glad you got on the bestest blog today! (As Mits says).
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle day. Watch for that first big flight from Albert, bet he does it soon! Maybe not this afternoon, but he will soon. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
EAGLE EXPRESSO, EAGLE TALON AND EAGLEMAN, WHAT A GOOD LIST, I LIKE ALL OF THEM. WANDA WANTS HER MOUSE BACK, SO I'M GOING TO GET A EAGLE TALON. YOU LADIES PICK FROM THE LIST. THANKS GENE
MITS----You are at the BEACH aren't you??----"i am not with the program"----I kept thinking today was WED.----"THINK I NEED A KEEPER"!!! Did you see the 'LITTLE PRINCE' this a.m.---He was a "One Man Show"!!----ALBERT is da' man of the hour!!!
I vote for Eagleman or Eagle Express.Paula can put a poll up on Momsters if you have too hard of a time selecting what you want. Are you going to let Wanda come back on ever or are you now Hooked? lol
Last night I map quested my directions to Romney - quite simple really - Like I said a 1hr 50 min ride. I have family up in Ridgeley WV and am familiar with the drive. In fact hubby went up today with his brothr to visit his dad. If it encounters an overnite I vote for the South Branch Inn who welcomes tour groups or the Koolwink Motel.
When do eagles migrate? We might want to make sure they will still be around in early November before we decide on the eagle train ride. Just a thought :-)
Parent in CT Osprey nest seems to not want to keep feeding chick that stayed in nest. She seems to want to take fish around to the chick that fledged and returned.
Carol Our adult eagles here do not migrate. I know of someone who took the ride in Nov and they saw at a distance 2 or 3. You know what we should do........ Go to Hawk Mountain during migration
LADIES-- I think we have created a Monster. Gene was on his way to town when he got on this blog and I couldn't get him outta here. Now, he's hooked. I love it!!
ANNE-MARIE---OH MY----You will LOVE Williamsburg---Such a beautiful place----Southern hospitality like you won't believe----So many things to see & buy----Haven't been there for a while---but the POTTERY FACTORY is a place you can buy WILLIAMSBURG "seconds" cheap!! & all other kinds of pottery---!!!---Peanut Soup is a southern dish--usually on the menu----YOU WILL CERTAINLY ENJOY YOUR VISIT!!!
Hey Carol! Go to www.hawkmountain.org they have a page that shows peak migration times, and the count from last fall showing what birds were seen on specific weeks. They say migration occurs between late Aug. and Nov.
Heidigirl - Be prepared to do a lot of walking at Wmsburg. I mention this because it can be an issue for some of us. Whoever mentioned the Trellis Restaurant - was correct - they have wonderful food there. It is just outside of the preserved, historical part of town. You also have to eat in one of the old taverns within the town. They have Wmsburg era food.
I wonder when Bob Quinn is going to send us some more pictures. He had been on vacation... Hope he gets some to us in a little while.
Just think Wanda - you might get a lap top if Gene takes over your computer!! Like Mits is hoping for her Christmas in July...... lol I thought that comment was so funny when I read it.....
DANA-- No, Gene doesn't use the computer very much. How can he with me on here. He does use Map Quest and sites such as that. He e-mails our Daughters and his friends.
Ok, I did two pages of statements and then I got on Jet Blue to see if financially I could swing the trip. If I am conservative in Alaska I can fly into Dulles and rent a car. I get one way free which will help. The car will cost me more than the plane. I will have to be conservative on motels, not the Ritz, and I can do it. Now to organise my work schedule.
Well, I have to check out of here for a while - time to actually do some work. Boss isn't here today, but called and gave me a job. It is unusually cool up on this mountain today. 70 degrees, cloudy and very breezy.
How about Dadster? Just a thought. Norma, which picture did you want? I think I had two didn't I? I don't remember what I posted. No I can't remove the picture, you will need to get permission from Jo or Paula. HE HE
HEY MITS! It must be nice to be right on the ocean with it's breezes. I went up to our Colington Harbour pool today and it was HOT. I could only take it for 2 hours. HOT, HOT, HOT.
Heidi-girl-- Did you donate or have tests. My hubby goes to the VA center for checkups and they take at least a pint of blood each time he goes there. It is no wonder he is Anemic.
I can just copy the pic from the album and send to you Norma. Paula had one she sent out for screen saver... I'll send you that one also. The one I have on my screen saver is of the Normabyrd. Love It! Perks me up every time I see it! I just might send you that one also.
Give me a few min........ I had to check on the Kent Kids which are both in the nest and good ole' Eggbert is also in his nest. I think they are very warm today!

CONGRATULATIONS go to Gene for being the first one on the new thread. You are NUMBER ONE TODAY. :_
Guess it wasn't a food drop, as he had settled back down. He just flapped his wings and now I think is on the edge of the nest on the right.
Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Glad to hear you're making good progress!
Hey, good morning, Gene. How are you today? Want you to know my leftovers were VERY good!!

Santa Cruz is up with Limuw on his launch branch. Other than that, all is quiet there.
Candy, wonder if Albert will make it to a branch today? He's sure doing a lot of wing flaps!
I can see what Santa will have to bring to Gene and Wanda's house for Christmas this year. :) Once you are hooked, your hooked.
Suzanne, he sure looks like he wants to real bad. Oh, here comes the other one down the limb. Wonder if the parent will follow.
Here comes Einstein, walking down the tree to get to the nest again!
LOL, yup, Candy, nuther puter! Wasn't that funny...Einstein walking down the tree! That has got to be hilarious to watch in real life!!
Oh, Eggbert just flew from his corner to the branch he hangs out on!
Well, Candy, aren't you a member of the PJ club? Well....doesn't that mean you don't get dressed until at least noon???????? Can't walk in your PJs!!
It looks like Albert and Einstein are putting their heads together and making up a plan on how to get a parent to deliver breakfast to them.
LOL, too funny, Candy! They sure are!
Wow, look at that sunrise over Puget nest. It is just gorgeoua.
LOL, Wanda, Candy said she knew what Santa was bringing you this Christmas! Another computer for your house!
Good morning Gene, Wanda, Suzanne, Candy
Suzanne I am surprised the owls are back in the nest or is it Frida and Diego who keep coming back. I feel sad that the Va cam is down for the season , that was the first cam I discovered then Maine then here.

At least one CT osprey has fledged!! Only one in the nest this morning, and that one is about ready too, was just hovering above the nest for about 5-7 seconds!
Was there a food drop in Kent? Looks like Alberts eating, and Einstein is back in the nest waiting his opportunity to steal it!
It looks like Albert has his own flight training program going in the nest itself....
Has Einstein left the nest area since his trip to the local driveways the other day??
Jim
I didn't see any food drop; just a lot of wing flapping and now going back up the branch.

They are funny, Norma! Think we can watch Einstein's progress by watching where Albert is looking!
Wonder if we could see him if the sun wasn't glaring so bad?
Great news Steve- keep us posted on the new cam equipment! Let's see, good morning, Suzanne, Candy, Paula, Jim, Robyn, Wanda and Norma! Hello Gene! Welcome! Beautiful cloudy day here, showers all around, hope we get some. Had a brief shower early this am. Tried dancing, Norma, it just seemed to scare the birds away..lol
The harsh thunderstorms that went through New York yesterday knocked the Puleston cam off line and the whole site too. They are hoping to get it up today or tomorrow....
Einstein seems to have discovered real flight! Albert hasn't moved anything other (than his head) watching Einstein since he left.
I think the second chick at CT just fledged or he is sitting on the cam....ok just cam back on the nest.
Morning, Megan! Love your sunflowers!

SUZANNE----Where is the other GENUIUS?????
Maybe ALBERT can "BACK SLIDE" down!!---Feel sorry for him---
GOOD MORNING MEGAN! I sure wish those sunflowers were here in my yard. They are sure beautiful. Maybe if we all do a rain dance for you, it would work. We got some rain Tues., but none since.
SUZANNE Albert looks like he is holding for dear life. Poor thing.
SPLINTERS, NORMA, SPLINGERS! He doesn't want any splinters in his poor eagle fish grabbing feet. :)
Ok it's still morning...after reading back post I thought it was afternoon. Wow ready for a nap. And still have to read these to catch up.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE FRIENDS AND LURKERS !!
OOOpppps just thinking we haven't used it in a while. Maybe that's a good thing. Cause Gene would have gotten wax. eeekkee
GOOD MORNING DANA! Yes it is still morning thank you very much. I don't want to wish the day away just yet.
At some point after 3 am it rained slightly in Martinsburg. Road has a few wet spots left. I was out at 3 and it was warm and muggy. YUCK.
Nilla-still looking for a day I can go with you to CT. I will let you know.
He is holding on for dear life, isn't he? Oh poor thing, but it IS funny!
I have been sitting here waiting for Paula's Conn osprey to take off. Just seems to stand there like a statue. Can't even see his face.
I think I see a foot now in Puget nest. Yes Eggbert is there again.
Limuw must be having a big breakfast, as he has yet to come back to his nest
And poor Albert is still hanging on for dear life. On the count of three, Albert, go for it! l,2,3......Nope
BUTA BUTA has visitors watching her too!----BUT SHE IS ASLEEP with BAMBO spread all around!!!!
Hi Jill and Dana! rained here around 6:30, just barely, only lasted about 5 minutes. Drizzling here on and off now, sun is trying to break thru the clouds though. Just finished wolfing down a sandwich, back outside to water.
I haven't read all this thread yet. But it looks as though a chick is missing from CT.
Well I guess I am going to have to wonder how Albert made out, as it is getting close to ll am and my friend is just here to the pool.
Keep those eyes to the sky for rain for Megan and for Albert. The pool is calling me. BBL
Dana - One of the CT chicks has fledged...
Have fun, Candy! Morning, Jill.

Parent has covered chick Finland nest with sticks.
The CT nest parent has brought in a food drop to chick in nest.
Now about that Fin Osprey nest
You're breaking my heart! I didn't know THEY are ARTIFICAL! I had so much respect for that nest - I even brought it to the attention of all my family members! DUH.............
So where on that site can you find something to read since all I see is not in my language! Send me a link.
Boy oh Boy! Sometimes things just aren't what they look like, are they?
GREAT NEWS ON THE NEW AND IMPROVED EQUIPMENT!!
GENE - HOW ABOUT "EAGLE ESPRESSO"?
Has Albert been that far up the tree before?
Sharon, I like that name, any others? Thanks Gene
Hi, Gene and everyone else. How about Eagle Talon?
Gene....how aboutEAGLEMAN?
THANKS GENE
I vote for "Eagle Talon" for Gene.
1st chick just arrived back at CT!!
Yep it sure did Paula I tried typing it but something happened to my blog. Sure glad I got it back and seen you wrote something.
Mom feeding in CT
When do eagles migrate? We might want to make sure they will still be around in early November before we decide on the eagle train ride. Just a thought :-)
I vote for "Eagle Talon"
Parent in CT Osprey nest seems to not want to keep feeding chick that stayed in nest. She seems to want to take fish around to the chick that fledged and returned.
Carol Our adult eagles here do not migrate. I know of someone who took the ride in Nov and they saw at a distance 2 or 3.
You know what we should do........
Go to Hawk Mountain during migration
LADIES--
I think we have created a Monster.
Wanda - did we create a Monster or a Momster?? lol
Jo - Hawk Mtn at migration time sounds like another great trip! When is prime time?
A Monster Dadster!
CAROL--
I was thinking "MANSTER".
Wanda does Gene use the computer very much?
I see Albert is inching his way back down the tree.
Albert is working his way back down the tree
Need to go run that one errand! I think it is mucky out so I won't be long. BBL all you Good Eagle Buddies
Ha Ha -great minds think alike.
Keep your eyes on Big Albert!
Need to know what I missed! Thanx
DANA--
No, Gene doesn't use the computer very much. How can he with me on here. He does use Map Quest and sites such as that. He e-mails our Daughters and his friends.
Well I can't keep my eyes open Jo when you get back wake me. hee hee
Off to the doctors. Be back later.
Einsteinlla is back. Just popped right in!
She wants Alberts spot and is going after it.
She tried, but he didn't budge!
So she flew up to the high limb
Well, I have to check out of here for a while - time to actually do some work. Boss isn't here today, but called and gave me a job. It is unusually cool up on this mountain today. 70 degrees, cloudy and very breezy.
PAULA----Which KENT kid is on the higher limb??
PAULA---You just ans. it!!--ho!--before I asked----
Yep, Norma, back at the beach. I get easily distracted by the ocean, and all its goings on while I'm here, and forget about the cams:).
E'lla is gone, both parents back at Kent on the trunk. Did one bring lunch for Albert?
Star & SPirit up in the tree - brought food to Albert....
CT chick in and out...
THANKS MEGAN---Hawk Mt. is a great site----migration!
MITS----I believe I could get DISTRACTED BY THE OCEAN TOO!!!---ho!----ENJOY---ENJOY!!!
Yes, lunchtime at Kent. E'lla came back for lunch too, although doesn't look like Albert is sharing at the moment...looks like a mammal...
WHOA---What food are they not sharing now----LOOKS LARGE---?
Wow I guess Einstein was following the food..... Both in nest......
How about Dadster? Just a thought. Norma, which picture did you want? I think I had two didn't I? I don't remember what I posted. No I can't remove the picture, you will need to get permission from Jo or Paula. HE HE
STAR!!----Come down & DIVIDE the FOOD!!
Wonder what that is they are eating. Don't look too appetizing to me!
It definitely has fur and I see the hind legs sticking out there.
EAGLET DADSTER
Hey Mits, did you drink a cup of coffee while sitting on the balcony?
But, wouldn't Jim qualify as an "Eaglet Dadster" also?
JILL!!!---I'll FIND YOU!!---REALLY would like your EAGLE photo---
True but Jim already has a name. Maybe Gene could be Eaglet Dadster 2 or too or II. HUMMMMMMMMM
Yes, I did, Sharon, and, just ate lunch out there too, real nice breeze.
HEY MITS! It must be nice to be right on the ocean with it's breezes. I went up to our Colington Harbour pool today and it was HOT. I could only take it for 2 hours. HOT, HOT, HOT.
Back from the doctor. Kaiser owes me a gallon of blood.
Heidi-girl--
Did you donate or have tests.
Anne, how did you make out? Any decisions yet. Hope you're not in much pain!
That darn Eggbert.........No sooner did I post that he was in the nest & when I go right back to see him - He is GONE!
Don't know what was wrong with the Swallow cam, but the lighting is better today. Such a pretty feathery nest.
JO--
I saw them both also. Here today; gone tomorrow.
If anybody wants the full size picture let me know. If it is for a wallpaper or screensaver it will be better quality. Which Normabyrd picture?
