"West Virginia Status: The first documented bald eagle nest in West Virginia was discovered in 1981. Eleven nests produced 21 eaglets in 2001. These nest sites were located in Grant, Hardy, Hampshire, Pendleton , and Mineral counties. In 1999, a pair nested in Hancock County but were apparently unsuccessful in producing young. In 2001, a pair nested on Blennerhassett Island in the Ohio River near Parkersburg , but no young were hatched. Twelve nests were active in 2002, but not the nest on Blennerhassett Island. Non-breeding eagles have been seen in most areas of the state."

I posted a new video from yesterday little trip on my Soaring with the eagles if anyone wants to stop by. You get to hear the wind and me LOL, but you also get to see waht I htought were 3 in a tree turned into 5.
Daffodils coming up here, and eagle count going down...not so sure its a good thing, but there are several weeks left, we might all get a surprise LOL
Pictures 50 to 54 on the FilmLoop on same above sight are also from yesterdays little trip. there were 5 in a tree, but that's pretty much what I saw for eagles yesterday.

Wow from the looks of it our eagle nest has alot of soft lineing grassy stuff in it now, so they had to have been back.. Mei & Tai were having their usua romp playing this morning.. he did have what looked like apeice of fruit eating it but of course she took it... Momma still on eggs in Fla... Thanks Steve for the link-WV is booming with eagles! February 2007 is when a vote will be called as to whether the Eagle is taken from the Endangered Species list. If it is, I worry so much about development taking down the trees and getting too close to the nests. I say leave our Eagles on the list! Steve, if you have any information as to what we could do to help get that word out, please let us know

Even if the eagle is taken off the ES List, it will still be protected as our national symbol. But your concerns about development and how it could affect eagle habitat are well grounded. Everyone needs to be vigilant.

Hi Steven listen maybe you can asked Steve W about the question we asked last night and was trying to get info on about after mating how long does it take for the egg to form in the female before laying??? Yeah Paula thats what i said looks like bunches of soft grassy material in there this morning... I agree with Jo about this development thing... Everyday animals are losing there habitat due to land development for housing and roads..I know here in Martinsburg its certainly happening!!! Now checking on cams and once more laying down... BBL
Adding something i remembered i think..lol Some animals when they lay the eggs are kind of soft and moist .. take Crocs n Alligators those are and also depending on the warmth of the nest will determine the sex of the babies... Not saying this has anything to do with the eagles but interesting info... BBL

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Thanks for well-wishes. Baby Maggie is still in hospital, don't know when she will be released. My son says the unit is full, Maggie has a 6 week old baby in room with her with RSV..lots of sick babies to be prayed for...prayers out to all my eagle moms who are not feeling well. I just wish I were well enough to help out my kids with Maggie. PRAYERS TO EVERYONE IN NEED.

Ok i think this may be a answer also.... Eagles lay from one to three eggs. Five to ten days after a successful copulation, the female lays a speckled off-white or buff colored egg about the size of a goose's. The second egg is laid a few days later, followed by a possible third. So she carries them 5 - 10 days ...

The Maine nest looks as though it does have depth to it. Doesn't look like a windy day - the water is very calm. Every once in awhile the Media Player screen turns bright green and the image looks upside down. Two minutes seems awfully short viewing time. I think if it is going to be controlled like that, it should be fifteen minutes.

With all this sadness in my heart for others, I am thankful to Buta Buta for giving me some light hearted moments.
I just watched her climb back into her nest bed - Well, she got back just in time because in came Mom unknowing that her daughter had been out exploring! Buta Buta gets half way into the nest bed - just like she can very easily get half way out of the nest bed - THEN SHE GETS STUCK! Her little legs were moving so fast that finally she got one in and then (almost our of camera range) she probably rolled the rest of the way! I love that little gal!

I saw that story on the news, but then I heard they were winter blooming cherry trees? Never heard of such a thing. This weather feels good, but is a little scary and definitely confusing for plants, some things are starting to show signs of growth. Yesterday I noticed one of our apple trees had the beginning stage of buds at the end of its branches. Bulbs are popping up, and eventually it will get cold and will be a real shocker.

Yep actually i am kind of tired too, Chat room wore us out lOL, but it was kind of fun ...lots more fun ahead as folks discover it and com ein occasionally.
