Vicky: We think that Spunky came in first, then Big Boy and then InBetween
Spunky took off & so did BigBoy. Big Boy seems to have white markings on both his wing tips (shoulders) InBetween is still in the nest eating So says Jo & she is sometimes wrong! Don't foget Chn 25 How odd is that to happen after so many days of silence....
I have been back for a few minutes. Reviewed the last 30 minutes and took some Fraps of some of it. Then I have been reading the blog. Boy, you guys are long-winded. I haven't even read this page yet. Think I will do that now.
All three of our babies again! What a blessing!! It really was worth the wait. What I can't understand is how they survived without us!!

Okay, you guys, I don't get channel 25 in Bluefield (being in Bluefield ain't so bad anymore since we don't have the blue screen). Please let us know what they report. They need to interview us! We are the ones in the know about how they sleep, poop shoot, eat, fly, land, mantle! We got it all happening!
The only thing I could find on www.nbc25.com was about a squirrel getting fried and causing a power outage in Hagerstown. When do they update it for the evening news?
Oh Sharon i got so excited i had customers n turned up tv loud and had them behind counter looking..lol WOW it actually showed a live picture because i had the live cam up also.. ABOUT TIME THEY DID TALK ABOUT THE KIDS!!!
Ms. InBetween (is it) is going to eat until she explodes!! Glo, did you get to see Spunky eating lots today! I thought of you and knew you would be so happy!
Mits love that tune you are so musical..... Sharon read you post and I'm cracking up; interviewing Sharon on channel 25 alive. Reporter, "And your name is?" "Sharon - I'm a addicted eagle watcher and a member of the Momsters Yahoo group respresenting eagles and eaglets." Reporter, "What was that comment you just made to another eagle watcher for Eagles At Shepherstown?" "Sharon, well if I can say it on tv I said "they sleep, poop shoot, eat, fly, land, and mantle." Reporter, "Well there you have it ladies and gentlemen....this is channel 25 Alive signing out....(microphone still on and he doesn't know it) Sharon what was that poop shoot and then that mantle thing you said?" lol
WOW--WOW--W0W---What a show!---our kids were just on channel 25-- & I don't know who looked better----Steven or the eaglets----They really "FLEW THIER STUFF"---flying all around the nest----The pictures were great---showed the top of the nest---I only had time to email Jo----I knew she lived in the area----I bet Steven could get the clip---It was way, way, way COOL----COOLER than COOL----I can't settle down-----LIFE IS GOOD----25 has a repeat news cast at 6:00 p.m.----hopefully they will repeat the eaglets----
Vicky - that was sooooo good! I will try to tape the 6:00 news on Chn25. Well, my hubby will. Let you know if I get it. Man-I hope the live feed doesn't go wacky.... LOL
5:44pm I think MsInbetween has had her fill. Maybe she will tidy up the nest before she takes off. On the launching pad .... Taking a long time thinking about where she is going to go... Changed her mind - just like a woman... I wish I could hear her-she's talking up a storm off the side of the nest... She's probably telling a sibling to get off her branch.. Launch pad again...on the edge...Still no go...I really need to eat my dinner...Go Gal!...Back in the nest wandering around.. MITS/NILLA you gals take it from here. I'm eating my dinner!
Okay, this is what I think. They put their heads together and said "Okay, one of us is going to have to hang out in this nest at all times this evening and tonight so these crazy people can make up for lost time. You know they missed us terribly this weekend!!:
Just finished watching the 25 Alive newscoverage... Steve Wunderley (EagelExpert) was interviewed & the film they had of our babies was really really good. I'd like to know when it was taken - showed Spunky in nest & I guess it was BigBoy taking off - also showed a landing. I have the tape - need to watch it again. If I can figure out how to get it to anyone - I will do it.
Steve Wunderley gave some facts elaborating on the success of all 3 making it. Stated about starving out the third - but he felt all 3 got along exceptionally well.....

Three Area Eaglets Take their First Flight Posted by sabraham on 2006/6/19 18:13:01 (6 reads)
SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV- You've watched them grow from eggs to eaglets on the National Conservation Training Center's eagle web cam. After 12 weeks, three baby bald eagles have taken flight for the first time.
“You can sort of see the expression on the other one's face seeing him leave for the first time, it's like wow you can do that,” said Steve Wunderley, a wildlife biologist.
Wunderley said what's even more amazing is that all three eaglets have lasted this long. “Actually there's a lot of sibling rivalry between the eaglets that's why three of them don't usually make it fledging because sometimes they'll shove one of them out, but these three seem to get along ok,” said Wunderley. A Sycamore tree at the NCTC in Shepherdstown has been the eaglets' training ground as each one practices and prepares for take off.
It's also been their home since they first hatched in early spring. While the web cam has given you a bird's eye view of their miraculous moments from the beginning, wildlife officials said not to worry, the baby eagles will be back.
“Once they leave the nest the parents have to teach them how to hunt, so they'll be hanging around the nest for a month or so,” said Wunderley.
Perhaps once again you can bear witness to the birth and beginning stages of life for another baby eagle.
The eagles are back really well, back in the 70s they were down to less than 80 pair, and now there up to 1,000 in the Chesapeake region,” said Wunderley. “It's a success story,” said Wunderley. Click on Eagle Web Cam to see the eaglets. Reported by Sinu Abraham
7:23pm MsInbetween flittin' around from one side to another in the nest.Something has her attention - may be getting some company...She just went poof!!! All gone. Empty nest..
Jo---Thanks for posting the article from Steven----I loved it when he said it is unusual for all 3 to survive---said they are very competitive & some times they will push the little one out of the nest-----NO ONE is going to push SPUNKY any where----she is a SURVIVER!!!!---I visit Shepherdstown often, daughter is there---what's the name of the restaurant your granddaugther's sister-in-law owns?
OK This is called a Filmloop. I have ONLY added some of the pictures of the eaglets in June. You can just go and watch the loop pass by on the link OR, I think if you click on a picture you will get invited to join film loop and add your own commetns and pictures. This is NCTC filmloop for this eagle family only. If you have pictures to share, feel free. You can then keep the loop scrollin gon the bottom of your screen, turn it into a screen saver, or close and open it whenever you like. Nothing spectacular BUT kin dof fun.
Find your way back to the BLOG and enjoy then learning about Filmloop.
Steve, I don't know how to ever repay you for the opportunity to once again see three babies in the nest. I pray in the name of Jesus for your Mother. God bless you today donna
Thanks for stopping by. I am really hoping some will decide to join and contribute some pictures of their own to the loop. So it might be worth checking on occasionally. ya never know what kind of pictures will show up there. Havea good evening. So glad we got to see all three in the nest again today. Live camera was only up for a few hours but all three showed up... That is so awesome!! Back to packin and bathin my dogs tonight LOL
Norma: It is West German St 'The Stone Soup Bistro" Krista & Greg are the owners. The first time we visited the Sycamore Tree, my daughter & I stopped by but they were doing renovations & the restaurant was closed. I didn't get to taste it out. No large sign out yet-storefront is white. About 3 doors up from a candy shop I think. I lost my paper with street # - I'll make a call.
Souht of Tucson just a little Nogalez actually which is a border town. There is Nogales AZ, and Nogales Mexico. My daughter and son-in-law do most of the Music for the Jr and Sr h High in that area.
Glo that is greattttttttttt i am going to nominate you for some kind of award!!!! Niter's need to leave son is sick and taking him to Winchester Hospitol.. Be back tomarrow, Jo behave and keep the home fires burnin.. Hugs, Nilla
Well I think our little buddies are all kind of "Branching out for the night". Hopefully they do know to check in again tomorrow, and of course we will be able to see them when they do!!!
Just got back home. Live feed down again, I see. But remember the hours are 11-7 officially so anything we get past that is a gift!!
Can't tell for sure as the Spirits of Eagles is surrounding the nest but I don't see anybody in it tonight.
As for what they reported on the news, they could have went into more depth about how each one fledged, the date and time of the fledge, when they came back, when they pop shot for the first time, took their first steps, etc. Maybe they need to do a show on Dateline or something. They could interview me. LOL. Yes I am a true blue momster, through and through. Grateful not to be feeling so BLUE tonight!!
Here is what I think happened with the live cam. They advertised us on the news and too many people came a-calling and crashed the server!! They don't need to advertise that anymore! :)
Good night everyone. Hopefully I won't be up early in the morning to report on anything because I am supposed to be off AGAIN tomorrow. Don't know what to do with 2 days in a row! Going swimming tomorrow if the weather holds up!!
Nilla, I hope your son is okay. Please let us know!
Never eaten at the Stone Soup Bistro before, but I know many people who have and they all say the food is great. It's 3 doors up from the Sweet shop on W.Germwn st.Small world-I provided the flowers for Krista's wedding.
Thanks for joining the Loop. Sharon I thought if anyone would try to figure out how to use this, it owuld be you LOL. Kind of like the FRAPS ..boy we are all indebted to you for learning and using that program, and then spening time to figureout how to get it so others could see what you had captured. I think you will enjoy the Loop and before long will probably be telling me some neat things maybe we could do with it.
Get some rest. I'm off to bed early myself tonight I think. Got ltos done towards my trip now though. I am so excited to see that baby girl. I will ahve alittle more than4 days with her, but 2 of them I have to share with others, So two fo them I'm not planning on doing much sharing at all.
Gnite all, going to make it an early night, hopefully at dawn's early light, we will be blessed with more visits from Big Boy, Ms Inbetweeen and Spunky!
Floralgirl! I don't believe it! Did you meet my granddaughter-Melissa Jo? I saw Krista's wedding pics - they were beautiful. You know she & Greg are expecting their firstborn sometime in August?
Jo- I saw a lot of the girls that were in Krista's wedding when I dropped the flowers off at the church, but I didn't really learn anyone's name. The news about the baby is great, I did not know. I ocassionally see Krista at the farm market in Shepherdsrown.
Good morning, everyone, I also got up briefly and decided to take a peek....
Suzanne, I think these eaglets were very fortunate to have such good parents AND so many fish available in the Potomac River.
According to Nature flicks I've seen on TV, in Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles, the primary instinctive goal is to rear ONE healthy chick, so if food sources are not plentiful, even the second chick will not survive.
In many areas, all chicks after the first one are "insurance" that in case the first one cannot survive for some reason, at least one healthy youngster is produced.
Three healthy survivors is really phenomenal, and we were spared seeing the down side of Mother Nature's program for the survival of the Bald Eagle.
Good Morning. I see two eaglets in the nest. ooops and a parent. Immediate mantling by the way the image appeared on still cam. Both eaglets facing there own direction, hovered over onto whatever is breakfast!!My guess is Big Boy and Spunky.
This mornings pictures are already on the filmloop for those who missed it.
If you haven't seen the Loop go there today. I think you will like it. I would like to try to keep this one for Junes pictures while we still get to see them come back to the nest. After we see how many of those we get, we might add more, or maybe just start a different loops to cover their growing up days. Just my thought. I have it set so anyone can comment on the pictures etc. I think anyway. Why not click on one, take apeak, and maybe even make a comment.
Suzanne Yes if you want to send pictures from this morning that caught something different that what I saaw as I first came on that would be great. I am always asking for pictures. In fact I am going on vacationfor a few days tomorrow about noon. NO more pictures for me for 6 days unless someone else takes them and shares them. Thanks
Good morning. Unfortunately, I missed all the activity this morning because I got to sleep in a little (until 7:30), but will be watching throughout the day today. I wish I could see a clip of the news story from yesterday. That is just toooo awesome!!
Glo, hopefully when you get back you will have more pictures than you know what to do with. I will save all I can!
Cool Thanks Sharon. That makes me feel good knowing that I will have access to these days I will miss. Visiting my family of course is more special than this...but this has been so much a part of my life for months now. I don't know how much longer they will be checking in for us. Its nice to know that when they do, while i'm gone, someone will be catching a few shots of their visit.
Sharon, you get out there and have a fun day. Let's see if this comment goes thru, the last one I sent to you disappeared. Must be the blog gremlins,or Osama-bin-Laden????
Ok, see her/him. Sharon, I think it was you, Thanks for telling me about the F5 button. I need to take a computer course to find out how to work this contraption...
Suzanne, Blackwater was fortunate this year in that they did not have any eaglet fatalities. They had two chicks, and both fledged, and have been reappearing at the nest!
Thanks anyhow Suzanne, I will check it out also. Liked you comments this a.m. about how in our lifetime we have seen the Bald Eagle come back from the brink of extintion. It's an amazing thing. I'm a dog-person myself, but my sister is crazy for cats, but does not have a computer.
I am a dog idiot! I have 4, as I have said before. I also love cats but my dogs do not so I can't have any. I love watching birds (DUH!), I have birdfeeders outside my office window and have finches, mourning doves, towhees, grosbeaks, cardinals, woodpeckers, sparrows, blue jays and the most beautiful little indigo bunting you have ever seen!! I am sure there are more than that, but these are the ones that come to mind.
Suzanne, I have a lab/shepherd mix, german shepherd, terrier mix - medium size, and one that is part chow, cocker spaniel, beagle and something else but not sure what. Basically Heinz 57. They are Buphals, Scooby, Mopsy and Hairy!!
Thanks for the pictures Suzanne. What could be easier, just drag them from the email to the Filmloop. I am so glad I have one of these. Don't you wih everybody did?
Suzanne, the bigger the better. In October at Dewey Beach Del. they have the annual Greyhound Convention, it is a wonderful sight to see, they are really gentle giants. Sharon, you must have your hands full with all of your "kids".
Would someone "besides Sharon" since she is a member, please click on the Filmloop, and tell me what happens. Do they make you join to see and add comments etc. I honestly don't know. I just know some would click easier IF they knew they could just look, maybe even post comments whether or not they have the player themselves. Just very curious and want to hand out the right info.
I could go exploring public filmloops but Lord only knows what might be out there. Thanks
Yes, I will check, but I think it is usually the Columbus Day Holiday. I have a place in Ocean City, Maryland and I usually will ride up to Dewey and Rehoboth just to see them. I love it when it rains and they all come out in the raincoats and rain hats. Anybody heard from Nilla this a.m., was wondering how her son made out last night?????
Suzanne, this years convention for greyhounds at Dewey Beach is October 6-8. More info can be found at www.adopt-a-greyhound.org Hope everything is ok with Nilla's son.
Suzanne, I thought about that when I was getting you the info. How is she going to go to the event and not come home with a Greyhound???? OK, 8 more mins. til the live feed should be back on, hee hee!
Yes, Suzanne , that would be hard, but you now when the time is right for you. Eagle-cam no, Puffin-cam is back on, boy do they ever get close-ups. Just make sure you turn your sound down if you vist this site, its noisier than the falcons.

Three Area Eaglets Take their First Flight

Harbinger, thanks for link.
Jo, thanks for posting the article, if you can figure out how to make a copy of the tape, I'll take one!
Steve, I don't know how to ever repay you for the opportunity to once again see three babies in the nest. I pray in the name of Jesus for your Mother. God bless you today donna
Wow, Glo you do wonderful work on your page with our "Eaglet fixes!"
Keep it up.
Glo, your a computer genius!!! Great loop. What part of Arizona are you going to, my husband and I go there as often as we can!!
My daughter and son-in-law do most of the Music for the Jr and Sr h
High in that area.
Glo that is greattttttttttt i am going to nominate you for some kind of award!!!! Niter's need to leave son is sick and taking him to Winchester Hospitol.. Be back tomarrow, Jo behave and keep the home fires burnin.. Hugs, Nilla
So happy to see all is well at the nest. I sure missed watching.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU Steve and veryone at NCTC.
http://www.nbc25.com/ This will get you to the station that showed the eagles on TV.
Take care, Nilla. Hope all returns to being well with your son & that it's nothing serious. LOL Jo
Oh no, Glo can't leave us!!! Hope she keeps up her blog site about our "family of eaglets!"
Nilla, hope it is nothing serious.
Wow Nilla, sorry to hear your son is sick and on the way to the hospital. Everyone will be anxious to hear from you when you get back.
Sharon, I was thinking the same thing..I wonder how many hits they had within an hour after the broadcast?
GLO: I loved the LOOP !
Pretty quiet on here tonight, I hope everyone is getting some rest after an eventful day!
Glo, that film loop is great. How do you learn how to do all of this stuff? I am so impressed and proud to know you!!
Never eaten at the Stone Soup Bistro before, but I know many people who have and they all say the food is great. It's 3 doors up from the Sweet shop on W.Germwn st.Small world-I provided the flowers for Krista's wedding.

Paula
Thanks, Paula, Paula!
Nilla,
Hope all is ok with your son
Glo,
I hope to look at your loop tomorrow, not going to try it on this slow dialup!
Good Night all!!
It's nearing the midnight hour - Goodnight all. LOL Jo
4:22 a.m. Just got up to let the @#*& dogs out and stopped in to check. No one in the nest at this time!! Going back to bed now.
Heading out to work, but had to check in on the nest....no Eagles around..
Everyone have a great day.
Long, healthy lives to all of them!
Jim

Fast little buggers. Good Morning All.
Thanks Suzanne for the pics. They are good-er-uns!!
Hopefully we will get the live feed back up sometimes this morning before I go swimming!!
Good morning to you, Mits!
Sharon, you get out there and have a fun day. Let's see if this comment goes thru, the last one I sent to you disappeared. Must be the blog gremlins,or Osama-bin-Laden????
Missed the parent...
9 a.m. Parent is still there!
Ok, see her/him. Sharon, I think it was you, Thanks for telling me about the F5 button. I need to take a computer course to find out how to work this contraption...
Parent just kind of hanging out, looking around.
And outtahere!~
Mits, You are welcome. Glad to be of service!
Suzanne,
Blackwater was fortunate this year in that they did not have any eaglet fatalities. They had two chicks, and both fledged, and have been reappearing at the nest!
Do you think that the launching pad is the launching pad because it is the clearest spot from leaves around the nest? Just a theory!!
Yes, Sharon, think you are correct. Don't want to get their talons stuck in debis and have an aborted take-off.
I was just watching the CT osprey cam. She digs in her feathers a whole lot. Do you reckon she has bugs?
Probably mosquitoe bites:):):)
Suzanne, I have a lab/shepherd mix, german shepherd, terrier mix - medium size, and one that is part chow, cocker spaniel, beagle and something else but not sure what. Basically Heinz 57. They are Buphals, Scooby, Mopsy and Hairy!!
Suzanne, the Indigo bunting is absolutely beautiful. The most beautiful blue I have ever seen. That is one instance when blue is good! LOL.
Mits, probably is mosquito bites and a lot of other bites too. She seems so nervous all the time.
Thanks
Glo
Off to my last day of work before vacation. take good pictures. Watch for live film. Will check in later. have a great day everyone.
Glo, when I clicked on the filmloop, it asked me to join but don't know if I had to in order to do anything with it.
I agree, Suzanne:(:(:( Where do you live??? That convention would probably be something that you would enjoy!
I am seeing the eaglets in little spots around the nest. That is so cool. Maybe they are getting ready to drop in for a little while.
Haven't heard anything out of Nilla this morning. Would love to know about her son!
Suzanne, this years convention for greyhounds at Dewey Beach is October 6-8. More info can be found at www.adopt-a-greyhound.org Hope everything is ok with Nilla's son.
My still picture is stuck on 10:18 a.m. and I'm still having trouble with blog-site. As a matter of fact, my whole computer is acting weird this a.m.
JO, HEY, JO - Can you call John or Steve or Brad or somebody to fix our camera?
I just emailed NCTC so we will see what happens. More to be revealed!
Suzanne, I thought about that when I was getting you the info. How is she going to go to the event and not come home with a Greyhound???? OK, 8 more mins. til the live feed should be back on, hee hee!
Live feed has been down since right after it was advertised on the 6 o'clock news!
Yes, Suzanne , that would be hard, but you now when the time is right for you. Eagle-cam no, Puffin-cam is back on, boy do they ever get close-ups. Just make sure you turn your sound down if you vist this site, its noisier than the falcons.
Vicky (West_Va_gal) here I can't right now catch up on comments---Please can someone tell me is the "live feed" down????
thank you
