I think I'm so afraid that the computer will not work, that I might miss you all. I have family coming in this weekend and next week, so I MUST go down tomorrow to go to the store. Once I'm there, probably will not come back til Baby Kalis is on the way. Normally I'm there from Memorial Day to sometime in October. Sorry so long-winded.
"Hey Diddle Diddle I dont have a fiddle.. Nothing but turtle shells to view.. Jo im am counting on you for a turtle shell birthday present.. so shimmy your butt up the Ole Sycamore tree and get one for me.. LMAO are ya'll sure you missed me???????
I like your new name Eagle-Eyed Sharon Yes, NILLA we really did miss you - We needed a song one or two times - and you weren't there.BooHoo We were hoping with all the rain that the nest would overflow and the turtle shells would float right out onto the ground....'Cause I/m really not going up the Sycamore...........
Just checked weather and bad storms heading our way here in Martinsburg with 40 mph winds and hail and hard rain. Sky really looks threatening out right now. Mits im am watching the panda cam and Tai is really giving her mom a fit playing..lol I noticed the wind picked up on cam also leaves blowing.Guess mom had enough of Tai's playing she is back outside strolling. Hey Jo with 40 mph winds just might blow a turtle shell down..lol
If you are watching the live cam you can tell we are experiancing a bad storm once again.Very hard rain and thunder and lightening, winds blowing. The nest is empty at 5 pm..
MOMA PANDA IS IN FOR THE NIGHT AND BABY PANDA IS FINISHING HIS FRUITCICLE OUTSIDE, THEY USUALLY LIKE TO HAVE BOTH IN BY FIVE O'CLOCK. WIND PICKING UP, MT NEST AT 5:00P.M.
Adult flew out............. Looks like BigBoy but is still mantling - can't be sure.......I was on phone with my one soldier grandson & missed the entry.... Live feed may go wacko...
5:12pm Don't know if it is mantling or just holding his own so he doesn't blow away. 1 more eaglet in nest...Just staying on edge...Must be some food over by BigBoy He sure is protecting it...........Such large wing span..........
MITS & NILLA: Can't say for certain it is Spunky.. Lying down #2 eaglet looks large ... I wish the #3 would fly in. Hope the leaves stay off of the cam.

Looks like a pretty quiet day except for cam problems. NOT at all like my day at work. No breaks. So crazy after you take a few days off. Except for lunch I went steady and am not really sure how much I actually accomplished LOL. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Going to fix some supper, will check back in in a little while. It is nearly 6 pm eagle time. I think the nest is empty but I honestly can't tell :-(
6:30pm MT NEST Cam's pic has been pretty good for awhile (sort of). It still is jumping around but at least I got to see nest was empty. Rain did come here - but didn't storm much (no high winds-only one clap of thunder)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QksFqiqjFts THIS IS GREAT ITS A VIDEO WITH MUSIC OF THE EAGLES IN BC.. WAIT TIL YOU GET TO CLOSE TO THE END IT IS SOOO FUNNY.. ENJOY

NILLA NILLA NILLA Fly like an eagle was soooooooooooooo good!! Wait 'till the rest of the group views it! Oh, my, my, my! Hey there Paula--they're playing your song...
Please my friends look at this web site i promise you will be laughing out loud and with some tears will flow. The music is just awsome with the video's.If i am correct there are like 14 video's, i hope you enjoy and share with other friends... Nilla http://www.youtube.com/user/cadria04
NILLA ,The 1st one I tried said video was not available. Did watch the video of the Hornby Island Eagles whose eggs did not hatch, very sad they looked so frustrated. I'm going to try the other ones now.
I'm happy to report that, after a physical examination by Jody and myself, it turns out that the dove only had a dislocated shoulder! We set the joint and gave her an anti-inflammatory injection. She'll stay with us for a few days while she gets the strength back in the wing then we'll let her go :-) yeah!!!
suzanne: birds do have hollow bones, but not like a straw. well, not exactly. Our vet will frequently pin broken bones (just like in people) to fix the fracture and then have the pins removed once the bones have knitted together. the pins can be internal or external, depending on the location and nature of the break. the eagles really aren't any different. unlike humans, who require dense bones to carry our weight and to sustain the amount of force caused by walking, birds require light bones to best utilize air currents. It's the wings, however, that are the absolute key factor. Different wing shapes are for different types of flight. I'd be happy to go into this further on Nest Watchers if folks are interested. And don't worry, Suzanne, you're not making me "work" -- I love talking about this stuff!
sharon: i'm sure the nest is quite odiferous -- but not to the birds. birds in general do not have a very good sense of smell; the exceptions, of course, are birds which require the ability to smell food, such as vultures and buzzards (vultures and buzzards are not the same). vultures & buzzards are carrion eaters, they are not hunters, so they have to be able to pick up the scent of dead animals more than they need to be able to see their prey. how's that for a really long-winded answer?
If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QksFqiqjFts... SAME GOES FOR THE OTHER LINK ALSO..YOU CAN BRING IT UP REMEMBER TO TURN ON SPEAKERS!!!
It should play then Mits.. Hopes so its truely amazing sites and sounds.
There are so many videos to watch - I am having a blast! The captions used on the videos sound just like the words we say to our own eaglets! They are really funny & so well done. I just hope all of you find this site!! NILLA - how did you ever find this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= DNxs02hOc84
BTW everyone... here's the link to an article written about my rescue group, Fallen Feathers. We recently took in a baby Harris hawk which had been found on a golf course in Sun City West; they named him Gus and he's doing quite well!
My best friend and partner in crime, Jody Kieran, is pictured, but I am not. Well, my hand is: the hummingbirds are sitting in my hand. I am quoted, as is Jody of course. Anyway, I hope you guys like the article.

Jo, I was watching video and the nest at the same time. I frapped a lot of it! I think I am going to buy fraps (only $37) before next season so we can have videos without FRAPS.COM across the top of it!

The one i watched (you need the real player) was 2 parents making a nest and setting on 2 tiny eggs.. ifeel like singing "Im In Heaven Im In Heavennn ,, Eagle Heavennnn lalalalalalalala"
There has been an update on the MD Ospreys (Blackwater). It has been determined that the youngest chick, while slow in development, is getting enough food and that no human intervention is needed. They mentioned that the littlest one is showing submission behavior which is likely only evident now because the others are so much larger.
So basically I guess we're not supposed to worry about him now. Fat chance!
Click the "2006 Osprey Web Cam Blog" at the top of the cam page to read the entry...

MITS: I sent you the card AFTER I popped all the bubbles you sent me....Just to get even... Are you going to email me any OC info on your location or phone # in case when I come down I could get in touch? My computer down home is 'dial up' - I dread it. I am so glad you all liked it, when i first saw it and then what the flowers turned into, it brought tears to my eyes and I thought of all of my eagle friends. Jo, I'm hoping to get out early in the a.m., but hubby is still home sick, but he says he is going to work tomorrow. Hopefully my comcast is working down the beach, I will send you my phone # and maybe we can do some dolphin watching....
Thanks Mits the card is beautiful I loved just watching it all happen before me, and how neat that it ends with the eagle. Happy 4th to all. Good night everyone. Hopefully more camera and action tomorrow.
Doesn't the fog make the picture look so different? Hope the young 'un has something to eat, can't tell from the stills if he's picking at food or not, can you?
Have a great day everyone! I might have time to stop back in before I head out for the day... going for a girls day out with some friends and my daughter :)
Good morning all. Looks like I already missed the first mornng caller. I hope you all are right and it was Spunky WITH some breakfast. Hopefully today will be much dryer and better for the eaglets and the camera.

Good Night Everyone.. Hope you are loving the eagle sites i posted as much as i am. Just hearing the parents be so vocal is excitng and they seem to also have tempers.. Jo there are so many should keep you out of trouble for awhile..lol Niters, Nilla
YES NILLA, I'VE BEEN ON THAT SITE SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE THEIR STUFF, THEY USED TO HAVE A GUY, DON'T KNOW IF THEY KICKED HIM OUT, BUT HE USED TO PUT VOICES TO THE EAGLES AND SOUNDS WHEN THE WERE POOP-SHOUTING. SOME PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT IT WAS TOO GRAPHIC. CHECK YOUR EAGLEMOM MAIL, I SENT YOU ALL A 4TH OF JULY CARD I THINK YOU ALL MIGHT ENJOY, SO FAR ONLY CINDI HAS PICKED IT UP, IF IT DIDN'T COME THRU IT IS ON THE BLOG-PAGE OF EAGLE MOMS. IT IS A E-CARD FROM HELEN AKA MITS
Jo, love bubble wrap............very theraputic...
Jo, did you get the bubble wrap e-mail I sent today or are we just on the same wave-lentgh when it comes to bubble wrap???
BIRDGIRL, thanks for the updates.
MITS: I sent you the card AFTER I popped all the bubbles you sent me....Just to get even... Are you going to email me any OC info on your location or phone # in case when I come down I could get in touch? My computer down home is 'dial up' - I dread it. I am not down long enough to invest in DSL.... You have a good summer - I know we'll hear from you!!
Oh Mits how beautiful the card was Thanks you so very much, and when the flowers came up and made that eagle Lord i got goose bumps with the music and tears Thanksssssss again!!! Nilla
Closing down for the evening also.
By the dawn's early light
May the eaglets have had a good night.
GOOD NIGHT EAGLE MOMS AND DADS. HAVE A PEACEFUL NIGHTS' REST.
MITS! I LOVE DOLPHINS!! Please, if you happen to catch some pics of any, would you email them to me??
Believe it or not, my real name is not Bird Girl, it's Delphia. It's a Greek name and it means "dolphin"!!
let me know if you catch some snaps! good luck!
3:22 a.m. *&^%(#(# Dogs had to go out again. Live feed is down. No one in the nest! Good night - again!
Good middle of the night...
I'm up for the usual at 3 a.m.
The nest is wet-looking and
E M P T Y!!
Good luck today,
Jim
One bedraggled, wet eaglet in the nest... not sure how long he's been there, just looked up at the still pic and there he was...
Hi Suzanne,
Doesn't the fog make the picture look so different? Hope the young 'un has something to eat, can't tell from the stills if he's picking at food or not, can you?
I'm hoping it is spunky - looks too small to be ms. inbetween and not dark enough for bigboy... but so hard to tell with him so wet
6:53 a.m. Eaglet in the nest!
Okay, so I was late on the news! :)
Good morning Sharon :)
More eyes, especially sharp eagle eyes are a good thing :) Who do you think we have in the nest and is he eating something?
I think he is eating something!
Suzanne I sure hope he's eating - will need lots of good food to help warm up and dry off
Good two votes for food :) That makes me feel even better :)
Oh the first lines in the pic just appeared. I haven't even tried the live feed, is it up?
And he's off... Have a great day spunkster or whichever eaglet you are :)
Lets hope for a sunny day filled with good hunting and eating :)
Have a great day everyone! I might have time to stop back in before I head out for the day... going for a girls day out with some friends and my daughter :)
Suzanne, I am still here, watching the mold grow. I bet it really is this morning with all the wet. Is DC getting dried out?
Good morning all. Looks like I already missed the first mornng caller. I hope you all are right and it was Spunky WITH some breakfast. Hopefully today will be much dryer and better for the eaglets and the camera.
Good morning Glo. It looked like Spunky and it also looked like he had his head down eating! Hard to tell when just one is in the nest and no live feed.
8:32 a.m. Parent came, then three eaglets came and parent gone! One is mantling!
Saved several pictures but sure do wish the live feed was up!
Still mantling, looks like the other 2 are going in for the steal!
I think it is BigBoy mantling, Ms. Inbetween beside him and Spunky at 9 o'clock position.
Change that. Spunky next to InBetween and BigBoy at 9.
That is going by the darker, blacker color of BigBoy!
8:46 a.m. And now there are 2.
Good morning-still see 2 in the nest-new thread is up.
