Have a request - thankfully it doesn't require prayers.
I'm looking for some clever way to give a gift card. DIL has lost 80#'s over the last year and asked for a gift card to the mall as her Christmas gift.
A little flat gift card sure looks skimpy compared to the others wrapped gifts.
THANKS STEVE FOR THE NEW THREAD Just got home for lunch and find another new one can't stay I shopped during lunch and buzzed home for a sec I have 25 min before I have to punch pretty good spent 200 in 20 min I should have came home hahaha
CarolAnne you could get decorated bag or basket and put it in with stuffing or a box in a box in a box etc One year I got a cute basket and that what was in it shredded paper and a gift card
Oh in two weeks I will be able to see the morning visit because they are making everyone follow the computer generated schedule SO they say so I am back to 830 to 530New boss is a PIA
but then I won't see the evening one its a no win situation I guess now I don't see am but when the seasons change and it gets darker later I will oh well have to live with it I haven't been talked to by the boss yet I went and ask my CO mgr that my next schedule is puter generated and she said work it so I probably won't be called in to the office like alll the others have been in the past couple of days
Wanda I went to look at pictures I see no picture I see a little red x in the upper left corner of two area where the pictures should be there is a outline where the pic should be also I see the moon picture below it
WANDA I have the same experience as JUDYE when I went to check on your picture. A red x in a small box on the bigger box of where the pictures should have bee...the moon picture follows.
KAY I am glad yoiu found a gate good price...
One paper already on the porch the tother in a day or two...good people in your town LYNN.
MARGY You will be missed when you have all the Christmas activity and it will be good of you to post just once in a while??? MAYBE???PERHAPS???
SHIRLEY so glad that HUNTER wore a wiinter coat and tuque today...All your hints are paying off. Now I hope LYNN's GDdo the same...kids are so independent!!!
Thanks, CarolAnne. Congrats to your DIL! I, too, was going to suggest big box to little box idea. It always gets lots of laughs!!
Hoda, maybe we elders just mind the cold more than the kids do....but I still think that shorts and sandals is a bit TOO much when the temps are this low!!!
JudyE---eagles came as soon as you walked out the door this AM. :( Good luck with the new schedule.
CarolAnne, you can get really pretty, nice, strong boxes, say 4 x 5 or 6 x 6 with a lid at the dollar store... they have some in velvet with ribbon, I even saved a hexagon shaped one! Put in some shredded paper, then make a bow to put on top. I'll make one and send it to you if you want. :)
Love the ideas, THANKS! We've done the huge box filled w/boxes inside boxes to death at our house - but do like both the stacking box sets idea, and the Dollar Store lidded box. In both cases the box itself would be a useable gift. Will check it out this weekend.
And thanks Lori for the bow offer, I don't think I'll need it, but should accept just to have a Lori "original". :o)
Hedgie, I don't understand your comment, Zero tolerance policy on speeding. You can go to court and usually they drop the points and just assess the fine..or in your case, the pts may have been dropped to 2.
CarolAnne, Another thought would be to start with a big box and then have smaller and smaller boxes inside with the gift card inside the smallest. That way your DIL would at least get to unwrap boxes!
Paula, I was not aware that was an option. Too late now----fine due tomorrow....just hoping PO gets it there on time considering their screw-up.It had to go to Annapolis----assuming that is where court is, too???
Ok now I know you are up there you made the cam shake when you landed now come on down I know its early but this way we can get a better and longer view in the daylight PLEASE
OH another great idea I know at our store they have this they have balloons that they blow up and put gift inside that would work for your gift card CAROLANNE
As we get close to the holidays, nesting activity at the NCTC has been moving along nicely, with the new male settled in with our long time female.
We'll continue to see preparation activities going on over the next month, and hopefully we'll then settle into a more "normal" nesting season. But this is wild nature, so only time will tell how things play out over the next several months.
SANDI - no problem, that's still an option, combined with the scavenger hunt idea, i.e. open all the boxes to find a note in the smallest that says look someplace else.
JUDYE - have a Walmart in the area - will check that out too! Certainly would be unexpected.
Between Eagle sightings we should post the different holiday traditions we have had or still have. Might be interesting and give some of us new ideas too.
Lynn, Court most likely would have been in Hagerstown...not sure where you got your ticket, but would be the district court in the county...I would have mentioned it sooner, but didn't realize you had received it in MD.
Never thought about the daycare thanks for mentioning it Now I do remember something about it before and tooo early for bedtime LOL and isn't it tooooo cold for the precious children to be out HAha
No evening visit...that is OK because we knew they were close.
THANKS PAULA for the NCTC announcement. I put it on WOW with credit to you and the NCTC site.
It is COLD here today...there is a dampness to it so I do not know if we are going to get more snow...Time will tell...Yep forcast talks of snow on Wednesday and Thursday...good to get some fresh stuff.
Very good yoga class.and then ran errands...my I seem to be buying a lot of light bulbs!!! Just regular ones and appliance ones...they do not seem to last very long...
I have not had lunch yet so will go look for something to eat...
It will be OK for snow LYNN. It will freshen everything up and the people on the ski hill will be happy. It is the time of year for it. I start to worry if it is a blizzard, but it is not predicting such conditions for the next couple of days.It is also cold enough that we will not get the ice conditions...this is what I am most uncomfortable with because everything becomes so unpredictable. I am not planning to be on the highway so it is really a manageable situation...God Willing. Please God...
Good Evening - I am having big trouble with my emails.... Hubby going to clean it up with a 15 minute program to get it back to where it was... I sure hope it works.
My lunch was very enjoyable with friends. Soup was really good.
Belated Thanks for the fresh thread, Steve.
CarolAnne - Like Sharon said get and decorate/wrap nesting boxes and have the card in the last one that is the smallest.
I need to read and get back into the loop! However, tonight is Terrific Tuesday TV night.
DANAMO so very glad your play went well and that the little ones did alright...It is a HUGE thing in their lives and it will be the talk of their Christmas Holidays.
Absoutley beautiful avatar HODA I just which it would go larger on the page maybe google should fix that instead of the profile LOL It say click for larger but larger it really doesn't get LOL Still soooo pretty
JO so sorry for your dirty computer I really think I am going to buy a new one Make me so made that when I open my picture album I can't see any of my pictures at all just a mountain scene I have to click on each pic to view that is a pia Eric says when thing go in a puter there sometimes is a roll down effect like domino's one thing and then another and that seem to be me
Hoda, Linda was SUPPOSED to come home today. Hoping she arrived safely. Bet she fell into Dennis' arms and is getting all kinds of love and attention and care. Hope she checks in with us tomorrow.
JUDYE - if you want to enlarge an avatar - click on the picture, then go to Edit near top of page & click SELECT ALL. The picture should then be highlighted. Then go to VIEW, also at top, go down to ZOOM and enlarge to whatever size you want.
I tired the edit select all got just a hair bigger so I clicked on view and Zoom to 400% that tooo big and blurry I got it to 200 makes it bigger and can see it better I wonder why select all did nothing for me Just have to remember to zoom I guess not like on the blog pictures which you can make bigger Ok I am heading to watch TV
Took a little nap but it doesn't look like I missed a visit
Sorry about the ticket. May I ask how fast you were going? That is a pretty wide open road. Curious what the speed limit is, not that I ever follow it I'm sure. Although I don't think I ever got a ticket going back and forth to Shep'town from H'town when I was at school there. Then again, I drove an old Pinto!
DANAMO that picture Angie did for me I have one of her almost the same age done at Olan Mills and Angie did it for a comparison pic of them I love that one also she didn't pick 5 of them for various reason can't wait to get them I help pay half with her
I have NEVER seen a meteor shower even though I have tried often times getting up at odd hours. I hope I can see something this year! I think the times were 9 and 2am. I'm hoping to see something at 9 since I will still be awake.
Last week, Steve got a head's up on a job at Random House for temporary warehouse work. They are hiring through a temp agency. He went on his interview Wed. and got hired!! Not much money but WOO HOO! I was so excited! Everyone at work was thrilled for us! I wasn't even going to the Christmas Party, but with the good news, the party was so much more fun! He was to start yesterday.
I got home around 6 to find Steve looking very upset. At 7 nminutes to 5 on Friday, he got a call from the temp agency telling him Random House didn't need as many people as they thought so he did NOT have a job. But that MAYBE he'd be called later.
We were crushed.
But today, Steve called the temp agency because my coworker Janice told me when I got to work that the big sign was still up at RH saying they were hiring! So when he didn't get a call back after his first call to them, he called again and got stern, told them about the sign, and 5 mins. later....HE IS HIRED AGAIN!
He starts tomorrow! Geesh, what a roller coaster....
Eat dessert first!!! I did not really, I had my vegetables, pasta and tofu and for dessert I had a delicious pomegranate...absolutely wonderful...messy to eat though and it stains so I had to change in older clothing...does any one know how to get their stain off? Even my hands get stained...worth it though.
CAROLANNE, you're getting lots of good ideas on ways to conceal the GC for your dil--good on her, by the way ! If you decide on a scavenger hunt, don't forget the nude picture requirement ala Paula's recent scanvenger hunt.☺
ANDY, your miracle gate brought a smile to my face ! Happy for you !
LYNN, the hip already hurts "like a son-of-a-gun, so I can take it. I have a high tolerance for pain or I'd have had this taken care of months ago. Put it off in favor of other needs and assuming a replacement was in my future. When will I ever learn ????
LYNNE, enjoy the meteore show tonight. Columbus is socked in with rain again---no show here.:(
HODA, the avatar is so beautifully nostalgic ! Love it !
Evening all! Had parent conferences til 6:30 - LONG day! Just read through the blog and saw that I didn't miss a visit this evening. My 8th graders asked me to put the cam up on the Smartboard as soon as they returned from lunch this afternoon. I did but, in the 15 minutes that we had before class started, the eagles didn't show up. Still, some of them are hooked already. They'll love it once there's always an eagle in the nest - let's hope we get some eggs and some eaglets!
LYNNE, I hope you have a strong heart and nerves of steel ! Can't believe some of the stuff you and Steve have had to go through this year. Please, God, shower the Soper's with your richest blessings in 2012 !
JUDY, Jordyn's pics are adorable !
DANAMO, happy to hear all went well with the little thespians today !
LYNN, thanks for the heads up about TV tonight. This will probably be the last for new shows til' next year !
well Kay, we surely have been blessed, little miracles at a time!
My coworkers even chipped in and got us gift cards to Walmart and Millers Food Market. I surely do work with a great bunch of people, and that too is a miracle!
SANDI, good on you ! You're getting a new generation of Eagle watchers primed to enjoy wildlife. It's like the sports world, full of agony and ecstasy and they have much to learn from it !
Thanks, CarolAnne---cool tip! We are always learning new puter tips from each other!!!
Mo--I was going 52 in a 35, supposedly!!!!! Not sure how since I was going uphill and he was standing at the top. Guess he nabbed me when I had come downhill and was NOT riding the brake---which I was always taught was a no-no!
@Paula, you asked last night what I feed the dogs. It's not really that hard, takes about 20 min. to make and is much more nutritious than the dry food they were eating. In a big pot, I brown a pkg. of ground turkey, then add 4 eggs and scramble them with the turkey. Then I add the following: 1 white potato that I chop and soften in the microwave, 1/2 bag of chopped frozen butternut squash, 1/2 bag of frozen peas & carrots, 1 1/2 cups of water, 2 cups of brown rice, and about 6 Tbs. of flax seed meal. I put a lid on it and let it cook until the rice soaks up all the water (about 10-15 min) and then let it cool, put it in tupperware, and stick it in the frig. It makes enough to feed my 2 dogs for 5 days (2 meals a day), but they're both small dogs (16 lb. and 10 lb.) Bandit has had chronic problems with colitis and with hot spots but, since he's been on this diet, he's had no problems with either. Plus, as I said last night, they've both lost weight. BTW, I will try to create a blog this weekend and upload pics of "my 4-legged children."
Sandi, I just watched a few programs on Smart BOard. What a terrific tool to have in a classroom. Are they common in US schools? When did they become popular. I retired in 2003 and they were not here, in Canada, then, not in the school district I worked for anyway...so yours connects to the internet to get the Eagle Cam? Cool...
I see I didn't miss Belle n' Shep this afternoon/evening. I was on a roll--haircut, purchase of new tires for my Envoy--to be installed Thursday--purchase of YakTracs in hopes they'll help keep me safe on ice and snow, the mandatory stop at Kroger....had to get fresh salad fixins' as Julie is bringing her homemade lasagna for lunch tomorrow. I'm glad she sees the need for one on one time with her mama !
Okay, I'm off to the recliner and TV. Probably won't be back til' tomorrow, so Have A Good Night, dear Eagle Buds. Prayers for all in need, for Linda's safe return to PA, for safe travel for Lolly n' Jack and of thanks for blessings of the day, both large and small !
Oh, Lynne, a real unpleasant roller coaster ride---HIGHS, lows, HIGH!!!!! Well, I surely pray that this is a real foot-in-the-door opportunity!!!! GO STEVE!!!!! And good on your friend for seeing that sign!!
Hoda, The school where I'm working now has a Smartboard in every classroom; I think most of the schools in the district are the same. This is a pretty small school district compared to the district I taught in previously (in Baltimore, MD), yet my teacher friends in my former school still don't have Smartboards. Don't know what I'd do without one now - NO MORE CHALK DUST!!
He'll only be 7 miles down the road from my work! We thought we might be able to car pool, but they asked if he was available for overtime, so probably not a good idea!
OMGosh Lynne that is awful! I'm so glad he put his foot down and will be starting tomorrow!
My kids are hooked too Sandi. When they nest is on they will tell me "no one is home" I love it. Last years kids are hooked too and now the first grade teacher will put it on her board for them. they survived the death of PattyO which was really hard. They saw some interesting interaction between Shep and Belle when he first came around. I tried but wasn't always quick enough to get the screen off! But hey it's nature, science...:)
Snadi-me too! I haven't touched chalk all year and I love it! I had a ViewSonic last year (cheaper option to the smartboard) and used it everyday. When we earned enough for 2 Smartboards from our Book Fair, I was given one of them! How awesome is that? I just love it and hardly ever turn it off. I've created so many notebook files to match my curriculum. I may actually speak at a conference this coming year. Last year I went to a conference in Winchester and signed up for a class that was going to be on using SMART with Saxon math. The speaker had to cancel and I was so disappointed. Now I have enough material to do a talk on it myself.
Sandi, that sounds like good food for the dogs. When I was making food for Nugz, I made brown rice, sweet potatoes, baked potatoes, chicken, green beans, whole grain pasta, and peas and carrots. (high complex carb diet) I would vary what I mixed together.
Sandi and DanaMo, glad your kids really like the eagles :)
Lynne, so VERY HAPPY TO HEAR ABOUT STEVE'S JOB! WHOO HOO!!
Is it real pomegranate juice PAULA? The health food store here does not carry it. It reminds me of my childhood to eat a whole pomegranat...mangos the same tastes of my childhood.
RED TAILED HAWK as Canada's National Bird??? Polls are for it so far...we can find them everywhere except in the Territories and Newfoundland... Another society wants the LOON.It is in all areas of Canada??? I am not sure it is in the extreme North...I'll have to check on that... OH NO the Loon is the provincial bird of ONTARIO...right away the rest of the country will get its danders up!!! We are starting a debate in Canada...anything to avoid the disaster of bowing out of the KYOTO ACCORD!!!
Sandi, that's awesome that you can cook for your dogs! Without a doubt, the correctly balanced for dogs human food diet is far better than any commercial diet available.
and BTW...Dry food does NOT make for better teeth in cats or dogs! If that were the case, we'd never have to do dentals!
Finished my 3 TV shows - all were very good. They tried to tie in a Christmas theme or two. New is the same as this afternoon so I am ready to call it a day
Good Night Everyone Prayers for all Hugs for all ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Very thankful for Steve going to work tomorrow! Sometimes you just need to speak up for yourself to be heard ♥
Hi, Everyone, Getting here kinda late again. My Sis-in-law stopped by, and we talked for a while. Also, watched the Nutcracker Ballet on TV. Love it!
Lynne, that's FANTASTIC that Steve starts a new job tomorrow!!! Boy, what a roller coaster ride, for sure! Wish Steve all the best!
Got a lot done today around the house. Still a lot to do, though. Got rid of a lot of old magazines that I had kept, hoping to be able to read them. Haven't looked at them in months, so out they went. I really have trouble finding time to read magazines and books lately! Would much rather be here on the blog, anyway!
JudyE, Jordyn's Christmas pictures are ADORABLE!!! She is a cutie!
Lynn, glad your Christmas tree is straightened up. Bet it's purty! Is Liesl a good girl about getting her nails trimmed?
Well, think I'm going to go watch some TV, then call it a day. Making sure the porch light is lit. Enabling both security systems. Sleep well, everyone. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you! :o]
Well I am ready to call it a day. Thank you ANDY for setting the security system and for turning on the night light.
Sweet dreams and God Bless.
I am hoping that I do not get up again for the eagles morning visit!!! I am feeling tired from two mornings in a row of getting up before four my time.
I know gratitude for being on the blog today and so I send much love and PRAYERS...
I will try to give a report of tonight's Soup Kitchen, providing my face doesn't hit the keyboard:)
We had 40 guests, all so chatty and happy. They loved the meal and the goodies in the Closet & Boutique. First of all, DanaWV stopped at the church and dropped off many goodies for the children. Stuffed animals, etc. I didn't get to talk to her, she was gone by the time I got to work/church. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH, DEAR LADY! MARGY, then stopped in with everything but the kitchen sink. Clothes, toys, stuffed animals, cars, books, etc. HEARTFELT THANKS, SWEETIE! Next, our substitute Pastor and wife came, with arm loads of pillows, blankets, shoes, socks, etc. Then, 3 more church members brought blankets, gloves, coats. So many things that they would not all fit in my little Closet. Had to hold some things back for next week!
Now, the highlight of the evening. The couple that visited last SK day that couldn't take food with them because they were living in a tent (the ones who had nothing to sleep on), came back this evening and was given 2 sleeping bags which our LORI provided for them. They were also, able to take food with them this time! They were ever so grateful...shook our hands and shed a few tears, as did we!
The 4 men who helped us load our food last pick-up day are starting a "Legal" Tent City (let's hope it is)tomorrow on land that has been designated for that purpose, by the owners. Gene and I and some others are going to meet them at the church, tomorrow and help them to get started. What a blessing this will be for them and us. This makes us very happy. I could go on all night about the wondrous happenings, but I am about to kiss the keyboard:)
GOOD NIGHT DEAR FRIENDS SLEEP WARM PRAYERS FOR ALL
WOWZER Wanda, what a powerful evening at the Soup Kitchen. Thanks so much for all you do for those who have less...the poorest of the poor. God Bless YOU!
DanaMo, three days and counting before you get your Christmas vacation!
Seems like Christmas is taking forever to get here this year, or am I feeling like a kid again???
I saw some pomegranites in the grocery store yesterday, a huge display. Never saw so many, but they are so popular now. Forgot to look at the price since I didn't get any. I, too, thought about the stains!
WOW Wanda you give new meaning to being Christ's hands and feet on earth. YOu have done so much to help others.
Lori-I took the day off. I am heading to BWI around noon to get Aric.
The dogs barking this morning for their food could have been like "Jingle Bells". It drives me nuts but I can't get them to be quiet. Thankfully it only last until they have their bowls.
Gee DanaMO, you get today off, the only two more days until your two week Christmas vacation! You must be very excited to see ARIC! Is it Java who is his dog?
WANDA, I got all choked up as I read about the Soup Kitchen, Closet and Boutique donations and reactions! Hope the "legal" tent city works out. God is at work through you, Gene and your church.
Nope, Frisbee. To help remember Frisbee is the oldest and Aric is second oldest son. The puppies are Boomer and Java. Java is the only girl and she belongs to the only girl, Annemarie. Boomer is Adam's dog. Andrew is the oldest but is allergic and not as into the dogs, although he takes a lot of interest and feeds them for us every afternoon while we are at school.
I know I feel half guilty (but I'll get over it) taking the day and leaving poor Suzy, but it's really all fun stuff these days. We are at the end of our reading unit and math isn't bad. The days go fast in kindergarten!
One of these dogs is digging in my lemon treat plant. I can't figure out who it is. Everything I think I know I am proved wrong. I need to catch someone, because I am tired of the dirt on the floor. It's so weird they have never bothered anything else, but someone is digging in the dirt!
Yep, LORI, early to bed, early to rise makes a gal healthy, adequately funded and wise enough to join her Eagle Buds in hopes that our eagles will soon be here !
DanaMo, I'll try to remember, but you have more faith in a cure for my CRS than I do! OK - Boomer is Aric's dog... Java is AnneMarie's and Frisbee must be Adam's dog...I thought they were all yours!
Kay, it's always the greatest when you're here in the morning...but Hoda should go back to bed if she gets up because I don't want her getting in trouble with Lynn! :)
Lorei-you have the boy dogs mixed up! LOL! Frisbee-Aric, Boomer-Adam, and yes other than sleeping they follow me around the house! Guess I'm the Alpha around here! Although when Monte is home Java seems to be drawn to him. I think the puppies follow me around because I run with them. They love their walks although they are going to forget all their good walking/running manners over the winter! I hate cold. Maybe we will have some nice days over break to go out and run. I need it. I have already put 5 lbs out of the 9 I love over the summer. That initial diabetic scare I guess has worn off.
Lynn scolds our west coast Hoda if she is up before sunrise on the east coast - it's not enough sleep. Hoda thinks she just wakes up because her body is craving tea! Think I got that right - of course, there were not multiple flying named dogs and children whose names all begin with the same letter to seperate and remember!
Oh, oh, DANAMO ! You can worry about the pounds After the holidays ! My primary doc and her nurse were both complimentary about my weight loss. Both agreed, a severe illness is not the way to do it, but it does provide a bright side to it. I lost 25 in total and am, so far, having no problem keeping it off. Trying to be a good girl, but some of the holiday treats are very tempting !
Aha, HODA had better watch out or she'll get coal in her stocking !
I'm trying an association thing with the A team and their dogs.
I picture Dana throwing a frisbee to Aric's dorm room and him bringing it back each time he visits. I see Adam throwing a boomerang that always comes back since he and his dog are both at home. I'm associating Java with coffee rather than a javalin and she enjoys coffee with us gals in the morning before AnneMarie is even out of bed ! Maybe this will work--test me in a week or so !
OK, Looks like Lori, SanaMo, and Kay. DM, how exciting for you that Aric is coming home - does he get a long semester break? Lori, the CRS only gets worse as you get older darlin'!! =D
Kay, Chilly in DE - 32 degrees right now but supposed to go up into the 50s this afternoon. After 2 straight days of coming out of school after the sun has already set, it will be nice to walk out at 3:15 this afternoon and get home at a regular time - so I can sit at the computer all afternoon and watch for eagles to arrive!!! =)
SANDI, isn't weather crazy now ? I saw ice in some spots when out and about yesterday. Today the temp will rise to about 50°. Since I bought YakTracs and arranged for new tires yesterday, I'm hoping I've jinxed ice and snow for a while. Actually weather here has always been a little strange. The year we bought the kids new bicycles it was so snowy and icy they couldn't ride for weeks and weeks. The year we bought sleds for Christmas there was no snow until about Feb. 1.
Aric gets a whole month off at home and a much better class schedule next semester, no 8 am math class! He is so happy to have 9:00 classes! He had a tough one this semester, I guess they do that to freshman!!
Good luck with the tent city keep us informed Our tent city is in the city where I live They have done so much and gone so far with it they also have built inexpensive housing in the are for them after they sort of graduate from tent city
Kay, Just checked your profile and see that you are in Columbus. I tend to only watch eagle cams but I have followed a falcon cam in Columbus for the past couple of years as well. Are you aware of it - I think the nest is on like the 41st floor of an office bldg. in downtown Columbus?
SANDI, yes, our Columbus Falcons are famous. They nest in such a precarious spot and there have been some tragedies for them. I didn't watch them this year but here is the site for those who might want it.
JUDY, that snow is not unusual in the Flagstaff, AZ area. There is a small rural school system there that has vacation Dec-Feb and school in session all summer long !
I told Angie that it was against the law for a grandma to out do Santa Clause so that is why I have decided to give most of the stuff that I go to put under the tree

Have a great countdown to the big holiday!
Thanks Steve and CarolAnne!
Hi you all, when you get here!
Any suggestions to make it look more gifty?
THANKS STEVE FOR THE NEW THREAD Just got home for lunch and find another new one can't stay I shopped during lunch and buzzed home for a sec I have 25 min before I have to punch pretty good spent 200 in 20 min I should have came home hahaha
CarolAnne you could get decorated bag or basket and put it in with stuffing or a box in a box in a box etc One year I got a cute basket and that what was in it shredded paper and a gift card
Haven't read back no time to see if the eagles have come in or not looks like no lunch visit
CarolAnne, maybe get a set of nesting boxes and put the gift card inside the smallest box.
Oh in two weeks I will be able to see the morning visit because they are making everyone follow the computer generated schedule SO they say so I am back to 830 to 530New boss is a PIA
but then I won't see the evening one its a no win situation I guess now I don't see am but when the seasons change and it gets darker later I will oh well have to live with it I haven't been talked to by the boss yet I went and ask my
CO mgr that my next schedule is puter generated and she said work it so I probably won't be called in to the office like alll the others have been in the past couple of days
Wanda I went to look at pictures I see no picture I see a little red x in the upper left corner of two area where the pictures should be there is a outline where the pic should be also I see the moon picture below it
What a beautiful shot of the moon I got to head back to work BBL
It is very windy at the nest it seems like...
Good luck with the new schedule.
Good Afternoon All!
CarolAnne, you can get really pretty, nice, strong boxes, say
4 x 5 or 6 x 6 with a lid at the dollar store... they have some in velvet with ribbon, I even saved a hexagon shaped one! Put in some shredded paper, then make a bow to put on top. I'll make one and send it to you if you want. :)
Wind IS starting to pick up here, too, Hoda.
The Christmas that Daddy got Andrew his first XBOX, we left notes in different rooms of the house to make him hunt for his present.
We are such a creative group in terms of wrapping and interesting ways to find a present. Good luck with it CAROLEANNE.
That's a cool idea, Shar! Scavenger hunt!! Paula can help with that!!
Sharon, I have made the kids go hunt for their gifts before, too! Fun!
Lynn, you couldn't have gone to court to get the points reduced on your speeding ticket?
Not gonna make that trek to wherever MD state court is, Paula.....and what's the point? Zero tolerance policy on speeding.
Time to head out. Carolyn meeting me at the grossery store.
HONEY I'm HOME
Home and ready for a nap! The play went very well. The kids did an awesome job and the parents were proud and pleased! Couldn't ask for better!
big clunk ready yourself they are here
more noise sounds like scratching
SHIRLEY so glad Hunter has decided to wear a coat some times boys think that they are tough and want to rough it
big clunk
do you hear a squeaking noise
Ok now I know you are up there you made the cam shake when you landed now come on down I know its early but this way we can get a better and longer view in the daylight PLEASE
DanaMO, congrats on your successful play! Any highlights?
Welcome home, honey...JudyE! lol
OH another great idea I know at our store they have this they have balloons that they blow up and put gift inside that would work for your gift card CAROLANNE
THERE is a machine that they use also that fits in all kinds of stuff might want to check it out
EAGLE NEST UPDATE
December 13, 2011
As we get close to the holidays, nesting activity at the NCTC has been moving along nicely, with the new male settled in with our long time female.
We'll continue to see preparation activities going on over the next month, and hopefully we'll then settle into a more "normal" nesting season. But this is wild nature, so only time will tell how things play out over the next several months.
Happy Holidays from the NCTC Eagle Cam Crew
is there a school nesr the nest I don't recall I hear lots of kids screaming
CarolAnne, Didn't read your earlier post about already doing the boxes inside of boxes thing - sorry!
Thanks PAULA for posting that AWWWWWW
Shouldn't those screaming kids be in bed by now? LOL!
Waiting for the oven to heat up gonna eat my last two peice of pizza I ate three nites for 7.49 cant go wrong with that
SANDI - no problem, that's still an option, combined with the scavenger hunt idea, i.e. open all the boxes to find a note in the smallest that says look someplace else.
JUDYE - have a Walmart in the area - will check that out too! Certainly would be unexpected.
Between Eagle sightings we should post the different holiday traditions we have had or still have. Might be interesting and give some of us new ideas too.
DanaMO, were you missing a kid?
Lynn, Court most likely would have been in Hagerstown...not sure where you got your ticket, but would be the district court in the county...I would have mentioned it sooner, but didn't realize you had received it in MD.
The daycare on the NCTC campus is only a couple of hundred feet away from the nest.
Judy, didn't anyone point it out during your visit?
Never thought about the daycare thanks for mentioning it Now I do remember something about it before and tooo early for bedtime LOL and isn't it tooooo cold for the precious children to be out HAha
they are late by two min
I don't remember seeing it at all but I think it was mentioned
is the day care for the teachers?? If it is thats neat
I tired to get Walmart to open a day care and NO WAY they said
It's been nice here today, probably 50° or above
It is for NCTC employees
Hmmm guess we are getting stood up!
Home....waiting for Carolyn to bring up the rear WITH the grosseries!!
JudyE, day care center is also open to some area residents.
Here's a link with info:
NCTC Treehouse
Paula, got the ticket on Sharpsburg Pike just north of the main gate at the battlefield.
Headin out the door Angie need to borrow some money need to go meet her looks like we got stood up HUH
Hi all! Having a great time!
Good to hear LOLLY. Safe journey tomorrow as you make your way back.
Heading home in the morning!
Sharon, Sandy and I have been shopping together and having fun! Going to a basketball game soon.
It is awesome when siblings get together and all is well...I am glad you are enjoying yourself LOLLY. Merry Christmas to your birth family too...
Hoda, hope you don't get snow.
Hey, Lolly---glad you are having fun!!! Be careful coming home.
evening all!
Sorry about your ticket issue there, Lead Foot!
Glad your play was great DanaMo!
Don't forget the meteor shower tonight~
Sharon, Sissy...what is the CRIB thing on FB??!!
Hubby going to clean it up with a 15 minute program to get it
back to where it was...
My new avatar is a painting of Christmas in The Country Side. Returning home after Christmas Mass, by Masicotte.
I will return as soon as computer gets cleaned -up.
BBL
Absoutley beautiful avatar HODA I just which it would go larger on the page maybe google should fix that instead of the profile LOL It say click for larger but larger it really doesn't get LOL Still soooo pretty
JO so sorry for your dirty computer I really think I am going to buy a new one Make me so made that when I open my picture album I can't see any of my pictures at all just a mountain scene I have to click on each pic to view that is a pia Eric says when thing go in a puter there sometimes is a roll down effect like domino's one thing and then another and that seem to be me
OH My goodness you got to check out Jordyn pictures Angie had done at Walmart here is the link
Jordyns Christmas pictures so cute
Thanks JUDYE. In the Eastern Townships of Québec there is a hamlet called Lennoxville. I spent a Christmas there once and went to midnight Mass with some French Canadian Catholic Friends. This was our transportation. It was in the mid seventies.
JORDY'S Christmas pictures are so very cute...Which ones are you going to choose JUDYE, or do you get to buy them all?
Oh, Judy, the pics are adorable!!!!
Hoda...I'm with you on ICE and BLIZZARDS!!
All new episodes on CBS line-up tonight for those who watch them!
Lynne, hope you are doing okay!
Still have stuff to put away--I better hurry. Jeopardy looms.....just finished eating.
JORDYN'S not JORDY'S...sorry for the typo...
Does LINDA come home tonight? I hope she logs on with us soon...
That was quick and easy!
My Jewel stayed long enough to help me get my tree straightened up and anchored, and to hold Liesl while I trimmed her toenails.
Heading for sofa. BBL.
Hoda, Linda was SUPPOSED to come home today. Hoping she arrived safely. Bet she fell into Dennis' arms and is getting all kinds of love and attention and care. Hope she checks in with us tomorrow.
Thanks LYNN on LINDA Info. I hope she is safe and well at her own roost...God's Blessings.
JUDYE - if you want to enlarge an avatar - click on the picture, then go to Edit near top of page & click SELECT ALL. The picture should then be highlighted. Then go to VIEW, also at top, go down to ZOOM and enlarge to whatever size you want.
Hope it works for you!
Opps I forgot to mention, FIRST click on the FULL SIZE line, then do the rest.
Cool Carol Anne, thanks for the tip!
Precious pictures JudyE. Love the angelic one in front of the tree. ☺
Hey did you all see the picture of the Norfolk eagle also has a inverted V pic on eagle

I have NEVER seen a meteor shower even though I have tried often times getting up at odd hours. I hope I can see something this year! I think the times were 9 and 2am. I'm hoping to see something at 9 since I will still be awake.
Great pictures, JudyE :)
OK, I have a story to share....
LYNNE, amen and hallelujah ! I'm so glad you work with such wonderful people. Your upbeat attitude in the face of adversity is awesome. I♥U !
Hey, LOCALS----Halltown Paperboard is on fire----again!
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Oh, Lynne, a real unpleasant roller coaster ride---HIGHS, lows, HIGH!!!!! Well, I surely pray that this is a real foot-in-the-door opportunity!!!! GO STEVE!!!!!
And good on your friend for seeing that sign!!
YEAH for Lynne2 & Steve - hope this is the start of great things to come.
In case anyone needs a new resume or to update a current one, you might give my daughter's company a try: http://contemporesume.wordpress.com/630-2/
GO STEVE GO!!! Good luck with the job start tomorrow. I haopoe he gets in many hours, weeks, months and if you want years...
Kay----hope that the injection doesn't worsen your pain.....let me know!!
Hoda----lemon juice, maybe, to remove the stain??? Bet it was yummy!!!
LOL, Sandi----just don't tell the kids about the blog!!!!! We don't want to have to monitor our talk for young ears!!
Just peeked out, no meteors seen...
But hey it's nature, science...:)
thanks all for voting for the gal on FB to win the halter for her pony...but geesh, someone with 386 FB friends has almost 190 votes now :(
Snadi-me too!
Stepped out and didn't see anything. Kinda cloudy here.
Just checking in I have been out side looking for the met shower and nothing how about you all I am going back out
Yep, Kay...last new episode for NCIS and Unforgettable, but LA has another next week.
I have a clear sky I can see stars but nothing else so once again nite nite just wanted to say its a bust I was looking forward to it
DAnamo and SanDI...I am glad you both have SMART BOARDS in your classrooms...what I saw on youtube I would have liked them too...
Going to head upstairs.
Kathryn is yelling about stinkbugs in her room. Good grief!!
See you tomorrow. Rest well, everyone.
No meteors to be seen here due to CLOUD cover.....moon is barely visible, and no stars at all. :(
My sky is clearing. I can see the moon now, and some stars, but no meteors.
Thanks LYNN. Lemon Juice works...
Working on my Christmas tree, glad I bought some new lights!
WHOO HOO!!
oH hODA, I haven't had a pomegranite in years....the juice is very popular down here.
Is it real pomegranate juice PAULA? The health food store here does not carry it. It reminds me of my childhood to eat a whole pomegranat...mangos the same tastes of my childhood.
Until tomorrow...
Goodnight all - off to bed for me!
Hoda, I would like either of those birds!
It is real juice...sometimes just pomegranate, and mixed with other juices as well. I had a pomegranate lemonade, it was really good.
In fact, I found a tub of Nugz's chicken soup in the freezer, going to defrost it for Nick!
well, I'm heading to bed now. Hopefully will get some sleep. Steve is a nervous wreck about starting the job tomorrow and I think he will NOT sleep.
Have a good night and prayers for all!
Prayers for STEVE. I hope it goes really well for him tomorrow.
It sounds good the pomegranate drink PAULA. I will look for it here...
I saw a Pomegranate/Acai margarita at the store today....didn't get it.....not real sure about the acai!
Goodnight to all turning in. Sweet sleep....and hope your day tomorrow is great!!
Whew, lights are on. Ornaments tomorrow night.
Is Nick accepting of the Christmas tree and light PAULA? Will ornaments be a problem.
I do not know about acacia either LYNN.
Acai, not acacia...
Hoda, I've never tasted it so don't know whether it would really be good or would ruin the pomegranate flavor!!
Well, gang, heading for the tub in a few minutes. Tired tonight...so shutting this baby down for this day.
Prayers for all the many needs. Hope the late-owls check in!
See all y'all tomorrow.
Finished my 3 TV shows - all were very good. They tried to tie in a Christmas
theme or two. New is the same as this
afternoon so I am ready to call it a day
Good Night Everyone
Prayers for all
Hugs for all ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Very thankful for Steve going to work
tomorrow! Sometimes you just need to speak up for yourself to be heard ♥
Hi, Everyone,
Getting here kinda late again.
GOOD NIGHT DEAR FRIENDS
SLEEP WARM
PRAYERS FOR ALL
WOWZER Wanda, what a powerful evening at the Soup Kitchen.
Margy, how is your busy week going? Ready for James' party? Sure wish we lived closer.
Hoping LINDA made it home safely. Home probably feels like heaven. She's been away awhile. Hugs to you, Linda, and Dennis!
Congrats to Lynne's Steve on the new job today. WOW, you guys have had a tough year. Here's hoping this is the beginning of the turn-around!
HODA, hope you got to sleep in. We'll miss you this morning, but understand you need your rest AND tea, in case you do get up!
Prayers for our lead-foot Lynn. LYNN, are you actually appointment free today?
Sandi & Paula, hope you post your dog food recipes on your blogs. Sounds great! I'd like to try them sometime.
I saw where Kay went to watch TV early last night...so if she fell asleep maybe she'll be up early and here with us soon!
Lynne2- Good luck to Steve today. We will be thinking of him and praying for a good day!
Gee DanaMO, you get today off, the only two more days until your two week Christmas vacation! You must be very excited to see ARIC! Is it Java who is his dog?
Good Morning gLORI n' DANAMO ! Feliz Navidad ! I'm singing along with Your a Mean One, Mr. Grinch and starting my day with a smile !
LORI, yes, you are "feeling like a kid again", ain't it grand !
Good morning Kay.
DANAMO, so glad you decided to take the day off in favor of going to BWI to greet Aric. You'll get some great one on one time with him. Yeah !
DANAMO, you need several stratigically placed cams to help you identify your culprit. LOL
No, no, no LORI, you've got the dogs and their A team buds wrong again. Read Dana's message again.☺
What the heck, 97.1 went off the air for me---be back after I check it out.
I gave it a restart and have you n' Loo in my ear again.
LORI, what did LYNN threaten to do to HODA if she doesn't get more rest ?
DANAMO, I'm going to take the test.
Frisbee=Aric
Boomer=Adam
Java=AnneMarie
Your eldest, Andrew is allergic to them, but feeds them in the afternoon.
You got it Kay! Between all my dogs, and my kids A names it gets pretty confusing around here! Ha Ha
Morning to whoever is online this AM (haven't read back yet).
Good morning Sandi!
Good Morning SANDI, how are things in DE this morning ?
Good Morning, Sandi!
Way to go Kay with the memory and losing the weight! I didn't think you had 25 pounds to spare.
OK, Looks like Lori, SanaMo, and Kay. DM, how exciting for you that Aric is coming home - does he get a long semester break? Lori, the CRS only gets worse as you get older darlin'!! =D
LORI, you're too kind. I could spare another 10 at least, but I'm not holding my breath ! ;o)
Good morning one and all
Morning Judy! Have you picked out your outfit for today?? DM, you should wear a "kindergarten teacher" sweater to pick up Aric! =)
LYNNE so great to here that Steve got a job and will start today Yeah STEVE good luck today Its about time things turned around for you two
WANDA So glad the couple came back and wow what a nice thing all of out momster donating to you closet I which I lived closer to do the same
I keep forgetting I have homework for my class tonight. I better get to it. I'm going into lurk mode.
Are you aware of it - I think the nest is on like the 41st floor of an office bldg. in downtown Columbus?
showing 16"of snow in Arizona Yikes
Our weather is so nice we are expecting a cold front Christmas week
SANDI, yes, our Columbus Falcons are famous. They nest in such a precarious spot and there have been some tragedies for them. I didn't watch them this year but here is the site for those who might want it.
Columbus Falcons
JUDY, that snow is not unusual in the Flagstaff, AZ area. There is a small rural school system there that has vacation Dec-Feb and school in session all summer long !
Kay, does the link work for you? I can't get it to click through.
I have to run to Angies at lunch to drop of some stuff I bought yesterday at lunch for her to put under the tree
I got the cutest Barbie bike for her It has a small bike on the handle bars for a barbie doll
Good Morning Eagle Pals....
WE'RE GOING TO SPLIT PRETTY SOON, STAY ALERT !!
Hello ! xoxox ♥
I told Angie that it was against the law for a grandma to out do Santa Clause so that is why I have decided to give most of the stuff that I go to put under the tree
I guess if I had more that one grand kid I couldn't do as much I just get carried away I guess
LORI, the link does not work--I'll have another go at it.
Ok eagles I am ready to head out the door you can show up now LOL
I will linger a few min I think since it only takes me 5-7min to get to work
