Thanks Steve. It is still cloudy here. Margy I have told you haow sorry I was to here about your friend. He is not suffering anymore. Deb loved your pictures.
Margy I cannot type this morning. Meant to say that I had not said how sorry I was to hear of your friend's passing. Morning Bill. I am going to the store will be back.
And I am grateful for the Eagle cam. Back in '07 a friend e-mailed me a link to this cam. I've been here ever since. The experience renewed my birdi-watching interest.
Loved Bob's bunny twitter yesterday. We have lots of them in this neighborhood. Unfortunately they tend to come under the chainlink fence and mom's golden retriever loves to give chase.Sometimes the bunny wins, but not always.
Good morning, fowl friends! Gloomy here in the Eastern Panhandle...one sprinkle already. Cool as well as damp! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all our dadsters and to all dads here and gone. Lolly and Jack---have a wonderful, safe trip! Jo, enjoy more hugs at your gathering today. Margy, hope your day is full of fun. Hidey, please be nice to Lib!! Share and don't grab! I saw my bunny late last night....it has really grown---looks almost adult sized. Also had a tree frog on the basement door! First time I've ever seen one here....hear them and have lots of my favorites--toads---but this was a new experience! Took him off the door so he wouldn't fall when I shut it; put him down near a crawling bug...he looked at it, flicked his tongue and missed and then hopped away. LOL, guess he wasn't really hungry. Well, better finish getting the brunch ready. Mom and sis should be here in a little while. Good Sunday to all!
Good Morning All! Looks as though we may get some rain which we didn't get yesterday! Our picnic won't be dampened on this day though! Too much to celebrate.
Speaking of Mockingbirds, I think it was yesterday the subject of Crows mobbing raptors was discussed either here or on Lisa's weblog.
In the trees and buildings around where I worked last in Irvine, there were many kinds of birds nesting at various times.
So, one month you might see Crows mobbing Red-tailed Hawks and driving them totally out of the area, but in turn it would be the Mockingbirds mobbing not only the Red-tailed Hawks but following close on the tails of any Crows found in the area.
Also, when we lived in the Del Mar area California Thrashers, which are close cousins to the Mockingbird with a longer, curved beak would drive everything found near its nests, including our big, black tomcat out of the area.
And I think farther east the Butcher birds, or Shrikes, do exactly the same thing.
I can clearly see two, I don't know how Suzanne get them all in the frame so often...and all lined up like they were standing in the ranks in the Army too.
Bill this is the bestest cam. I have been watching since the beginning. We went through lots of problems with the cams that Steve and the others worked hard to get the kinks out. Lolly have a great trip.
Wildwatch Osprey is a 10 second update and you can find them there. We will just have to wait until the chick grows some more, since they can't clean the lens right now.
Jack and I have been out giving the pots their last watering from us. Have a yard guy coming several times just to water pots and hanging baskets and once to mow. Sprinkler system is set. Oh, it is HARD to leave Hawkwood when the temps are so high and no temp break or rain in sight! We have done what we can. Will hope for the best!
Gotta go now. Thanks for all the well wishes for our trip. Jack is a careful driver, specially when we have a precious cargo! Time to start getting ready for the 2:00 wedding. Will take a little over an hour to drive there. I'll get back on this evening just to say good night!
Happy Summer to all. May you stay cool and comfortable!!
Meant to mention how much I LOVED seeing the OK eaglet again this morning in his nest. Missed seeing Hidey. Take good notes, I want a report on both when I return. LOL
At least I got to see Hidey today. I'll be leaving for park in about an half hour... Anxious to see the gals again. Just as breezy here as it is at the nest but the skies are clear.
Jim peaked my curiosity that you could still see Finney nest. I just got a pic from there. Had to lighten it a little as sun is setting--on blog. I have more local pics to put on, but also have flwrs to plant & Father's Day dinner to make! Not enough hours! ☺
Hi everyone, Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads and Moms like me that raised kids alone. My boys give me fathers day too. I'm spoiled. I should be working right now but I had to stop by and give hugs.
Hi ceil, Thanks,I just got back online, checked the Duke Farms before I got on here, I see three now, they should fledge pretty soon, thanks for the banding info also. I'm out till to night, everybody have a great day.
Before I catch up on these comments. I'm going to say "Hi to all Dad's on Fathers Day".. We keep getting company and I don't get a chance to type this.
Well, I see folks are out and about today. Good to read what everyone has to say. I hope the rest of the evening goes well for everyone, while I sleep...I'm really grateful for all phases of the NCTC Eagle Still and Live Cam, for how it has enriched my life. ☺
Touching observation, Anne-Marie, about Moms being Dad and Mom. I know a couple of Dads who are that way too. So how about Happy Day for All Parents, Grandparents, and Children ☺ ♥ xo
But especially...the Dads and Mom/Dads. Here now with us, and Those, Gone Before Us.
Went to my brothers yesterday...he lives down in Waldorf. They had a pool party and cookout. Glad the rain got over with it in the morning...we had a nice day!
I guess it is just Hidey's personality. I am looking at the eaglets at the Sidney nest, and there are three of them there, but the other birds around make much more noise than the eaglets. I don't know if it is always that way.

Hi All, just got back on, checked out Duke Farms, hard to tell but think all were there, looked in on the Jersey City Falcons, Lightning and pouring rain, good thing they have a roof over them.
good night everyone....not a good beach day, but we enjoyed a visit to Assateague Island to see the wild horses and sitka deer ....hoping for a beach day tomorrow:)
I wanted to tell you that I was chatting with Candy a short while ago on Facebook. She still is not happy that her Josh joined the military, but recently attended his graduation from basic training and said he looked really spiffy in his uniform;) She has puter problems and missed seeing Hidey fledge. She said to tell everyong she said "HI".
What a long beautiful day it has been! I hope everyone had such a day as I. I just love holding a little one year old who is sleepy and is acting goofy! Such memories. Picnic was a big success - especially since the weather was cooperative for the occasion. We were celebrating Father's Day and Welcome back to the USA Day! I sure know I won't be happy to see them leave in about 2 weeks. Won't think about it ahead of time!
There is some little critter moving around at Snowman but it does not look big enough to be a bruin. Have been seeing a spindly legged deer at Pix a good bit lately. Not a fawn, just a young'n though.
And I hear a klunk on the mic at our nest every now and then...wonder if it is our Big Baby.
There is a great couple of links to photos at the BWE and BWO cams, including a picture that Bob took of an Osprey Nest at Blackwater with two chicks and a parent.
Hi all! We had a fantastic time today. It was a really fun wedding, a very joyous bride and groom. Following the wedding we went to Michael and Ashley's for pizza. My three grandsons had a ball playing together.
Boys are in bed right now, Laurel is in the kitchen baking cookies, and I am on here to bid you good night and see you later gators.
Monitor our eagles really carefully to give me a good report. LOL
Just thought I'd check in to say Happy Father's Day, and hope everyone has a good night's sleep tonight.
Jo, your day sounds like Heaven on earth! Glad it was such perfection!
Had phone calls from the kids today; it's always so nice to hear from them. Got a lot of studying done-- a lot more to do, but tomorrow is another day. My brain refuses to remember any more new information!
I see Spidey's web, but no Hidey. Bet he's somewhere in the tree, though.
Well, I'd better get a good night's sleep tonight so I'm fresh for more study tomorrow. Prayers for all, for healing, for needs being met, for thanksgiving for all our blessings, and for safety for those who are traveling. God bless you guys-- talk to you tomorrow. :o]
Alone again here....whew! Long day. Sis is mad at her hubby because he didn't answer phone when she called him...he called back right after she left....warned him that she's on the warpath! Big river rescue going on down on the Shenandoah outside CharlesTown. Chopper plucking them out as it finds them......stoopid people----not allowed on river in the dark.
Okay, I am ready to say good night! I will possibly be able to get on tomorrow but the rest of the week I'll be gone. Take care! Jo enjoy your family! Prayers for all!
Yup, gotta be really careful on the rivers with all the rain...and don't go on them after dark! Heard about the rescues on the Patuxent the other night, too.
Sounds like a great day Jo. So glad they could come back for a visit.
12:42 AM, back for a quick check before I hit the sack, There was a big white ghost in the nest area. Wow, is that spider as big as it looks. 1ST time I ever saw it, I've been looking for a little speck crawling on the web, LOL
I've been wondering about something for a while now. (In my rookie year around here)
I know they say that Eagles mate for life. My question, When Belle and Liberty leave (for the season), do they leave together or do they part ways and then both individually return when it is time to mate again?
Is that common for most pairs of eagles? They stay?
I was under the impression that a breeding pair of eagles will leave the nest location for a month or two and then return to start nestorations for the next brood.
Tammy, they visit the nest a lot less during that time but they stay in the area, as far as I know. Somebody else might know something I don't but I don't believe they go very far.

Thanks for the new thread, Steve.
Sure didn't take long to gobble that breakfast down
Thanks Steve. It is still cloudy here.
Margy I have told you haow sorry I was to here about your friend. He is not suffering anymore.
Deb loved your pictures.
Took time to do some yelling and hollering, though.

Margy I cannot type this morning. Meant to say that I had not said how sorry I was to hear of your friend's passing.

And I am grateful for the Eagle cam. Back in '07 a friend e-mailed me a link to this cam. I've been here ever since. The experience renewed my birdi-watching interest.
Yes I'm addicted!!Gotta get up out of this chair and get ready for church,ya'll have a great morning
Happy Father's Day to all of the dads here.
Loved Bob's bunny twitter yesterday. We have lots of them in this neighborhood. Unfortunately they tend to come under the chainlink fence and mom's golden retriever loves to give chase.Sometimes the bunny wins, but not always.
Guess the golden retriever might be surprised by a growling bunny, but maybe the bunny would be hopping too fast to growl.
Mockingbird agitation in the yard across the street from me. I always enjoy watching them. They truly think they own this street.
Also look at BWO.
The adult is perched way outside the nest on a building stick and peering under the nest.
Wonder what it's watching.

Jim
Neither sister is in the nest at Two Harbors, but both sisters are standing like cigar-store Indians looking toward the sea at the West End nest.

Finney is feeding her chicks now.

Bill this is the bestest cam. I have been watching since the beginning. We went through lots of problems with the cams that Steve and the others worked hard to get the kinks out.
Lolly have a great trip.
The finny's chicks are really growing!
Morning Jim
OK juvie in nest adult on top
Hi Deb. They are cute but remind me of aliens.
I baked a cake to take to the crab feast. White with chocolate icing and the store had the biggest strawberries.
Sounds like a great time. I love crab!
I still have trouble finding the chick in the BWO nest.
Deb i have problems seeing BWO chick also.
Wildwatch Osprey is a 10 second update and you can find them there. We will just have to wait until the chick grows some more, since they can't clean the lens right now.
Sometimes now I can see the BWO chick clearly as anything ... yesterday afternoon for example.
But other times like this A.M. I couldn't see it until the pic refreshed and it moved a little.
Just a little to the left of the nest's center.

Good Morning to Everyone!!!

Have great celebrations & Lolly & Jack have a great trip tomorrow.
Fubby went to a car show this AM, so I can get out his present before he comes home! Tee Hee

Hidey is making noise!
I wonder how the Relay for Life walks went yesterday. Norma's town had one and Ceil's son had one.
Even though it is Fathers Day, Dad is giving Mom a break, while the kiddies sleep, on Finney's nest.

Happy Father's Day to all our eaglet dadsters out there!
We have seen this cam go through many changes since 2006 and nothing has run me off yet! :)
Hidey is in the nest!
Hidey is at nest
And gone already!
Hidey just flew out of the nest
At least I got to see Hidey today.
I'll be leaving for park in about an half hour... Anxious to see the gals again. Just as breezy here as it is at the nest but the skies are clear.
Are you staying home today Deb?
I haven't decided Jo. it is so wet outside and there is water everywhere.
Sounds like a good day to stay in and read and watch cams!
I am getting ready to leave
Will touch base with you later....
Just checked the Duke Farms Cam.
they're back on the air. Camera is further away from nest.
Robert I just looked in on Duke farms. Don't watch that one too often. Good to see they are doing well.
I only see two, one might of fledged, or he's behind that limb.
Was Hidey ever banded?
Robert they do not band the NCTC eaglets
Robert three are there now. Must have been playing peek a boo with the cam
Jim peaked my curiosity that you could still see Finney nest. I just got a pic from there. Had to lighten it a little as sun is setting--on blog. I have more local pics to put on, but also have flwrs to plant & Father's Day dinner to make! Not enough hours! ☺

Anne Marie you are right. There are lots of woman who have had to be mom & dad. Have a great Father's Day.
Before I catch up on these comments. I'm going to say "Hi to all Dad's on Fathers Day".. We keep getting company and I don't get a chance to type this.
And now more company coming in.

3 eaglets at Duke Farms
Our eaglet doing the puppy whine
Eaglet being fed at OWL Delta
Don't see eaglet at OK
2 eaglets in nest at Decorah Iowa
See 2 eaglets in nest at Lake Washington
1 eaglet at Libby Dam in nest
Hidey is close to the nest.
Hidey's squealing.
Evening, all!
Happy Father's Day!!
Hello, Paula.
Hi Deb, Paula and it is Andrea or Shirley?
Shirley is here.
Hi, Dana.
Hi Shirley
Have been hearing Hidey from time to time, but that's it.
Just heard Hidey.
Hey, Shirley Dana and Deb!
Heard Hidey off and on but no sight of our eaglet yet.
Going to run do some chores. Will check back later.
Aha - so has one of the Iowa eaglets fledged?
Went to my brothers yesterday...he lives down in Waldorf. They had a pool party and cookout. Glad the rain got over with it in the morning...we had a nice day!
Hidey still chirping away.
Ummm, maybe more like stil yelling, LOL
I have a good friend in the Waldorf area--has been awhile since I visited there, though.
I see spidey's web.
Not sure who brought that fish in, but I know who ended up with it.
You would think from all the squealing that there is a huge mob of eaglets trying to steal Hidey's dinner.
What do you suppose all the fussing was about? Maybe Mom or Dad was in the tree and he was telling them "it's mine...all mine!".
LOL..he's one crazy bird.
He must have inhaled his food!
I guess it is just Hidey's personality. I am looking at the eaglets at the Sidney nest, and there are three of them there, but the other birds around make much more noise than the eaglets. I don't know if it is always that way.
Hidey is entertaining, though.
Yep, that he is. Gotta love him:)
Geesh, where did they all go? Had turned off the cam cause it kept slowing up my computer, was trying to read emails.
I tried to poast that comment 20 minutes ago!!
Bad bad Blogger.
Hi Paula.
The OK camera is scanning around again. You do get a good fix on the lay of the land there.
It took your message 20 minutes to show up?
No, I posted it and walked away to fold laundry, when I came back it had given me one of those stoopid messages...didn't post it, but when I hit the back button, there it was, so I posted it anyhow.
Sorry to hear that Mits...weather was pretty here.
We went to Assateague several years ago and it was great. It took us awhile to find the horses, but we did. It was in the off-season, April, I think.
Mits, hope you have a good beach day tomorrow.
Good nite all
I wanted to tell you that I was chatting with Candy a short while ago on Facebook. She still is not happy that her Josh joined the military, but recently attended his graduation from basic training and said he looked really spiffy in his uniform;) She has puter problems and missed seeing Hidey fledge. She said to tell everyong she said "HI".
I'm going to run a scan on my 'puter and may not be back on here tonight, so I will wish you all a GOOD NIGHT.
Thanks for the message from Candy - Wanda - and when you get back on with her, please give her our best greetings too.
Did you all see the ladybug outfit on the Goose at Snowman cam? Pretty cute.
Maybe some are headed to bed soon, so Good Night to you, If the pillow fits...☺
Going in for six hours tonight to start the first part of my work week.
Hope the rest of the evening is a good one in all our Eagle Corners.
Rest well, Monday is the First Day of the Rest of Our Lives, and you want to be well rested for it ☺
xoxo ♥
What a long beautiful day it has been!
I hope everyone had such a day as I.
I just love holding a little one year old who is sleepy and is acting goofy!
Such memories. Picnic was a big success - especially since the weather was cooperative for the occasion. We were celebrating Father's Day and Welcome back to the USA Day! I sure know I won't be happy to see them leave in about 2 weeks. Won't think about it ahead of time!
Sounds just exquisite Mema Jo
Hope the next two weeks, lasts forever !! ☺
Do you think Steve knows our Still Cam is VERY Still? I was just wondering if anyone had said anything to him about it.
There is a great couple of links to photos at the BWE and BWO cams, including a picture that Bob took of an Osprey Nest at Blackwater with two chicks and a parent.
These are "Must Sees."
Hi all! We had a fantastic time today. It was a really fun wedding, a very joyous bride and groom. Following the wedding we went to Michael and Ashley's for pizza. My three grandsons had a ball playing together.

Hi, Everybody,
Just thought I'd check in to say Happy Father's Day, and hope everyone has a good night's sleep tonight.
Jo, your day sounds like Heaven on earth! Glad it was such perfection!
Had phone calls from the kids today; it's always so nice to hear from them. Got a lot of studying done-- a lot more to do, but tomorrow is another day. My brain refuses to remember any more new information!

Hi and good night to everyone. Lolly, have a wonderful trip!
Bye and Good night!
Sweet dreams!
Calling it a day. See y'all tomorrow. Prayers for peace and all good things.
Yup, gotta be really careful on the rivers with all the rain...and don't go on them after dark! Heard about the rescues on the Patuxent the other night, too.
Sounds like a great day Jo. So glad they could come back for a visit.
Have a fun time, Lolly and family.
Gnite, all!
Hugs to all ♥
Heading out...Good Night to any Night Owls...☺
12:42 AM, back for a quick check before I hit the sack, There was a big white ghost in the nest area.
Wow, is that spider as big as it looks. 1ST time I ever saw it, I've been looking for a little speck crawling on the web, LOL
** GOOD NIGHT **
** EVERYBODY **
Have a good week.
Jim
Good Monday Morning All :)
I've been wondering about something for a while now. (In my rookie year around here)
I know they say that Eagles mate for life. My question, When Belle and Liberty leave (for the season), do they leave together or do they part ways and then both individually return when it is time to mate again?
On a sidenote... Good Morning Hidey.. I hear you!
Good morning eagle land.
Tammy, to answer your question, Liberty and Belle do not leave. They stay in the area.
Thank you Sharon.
Is that common for most pairs of eagles? They stay?
I was under the impression that a breeding pair of eagles will leave the nest location for a month or two and then return to start nestorations for the next brood.
