Good Wednesday morning all you eagle watchers out there. One eagle sitting in the nest at this time. Nest is bare of snow. :) Wind is still blowing. I am hearing a bird softly chirping; don't know if it is one above or what.
Thanks Steve for the new thread. We appreciate it.
Sun is shining off our little snowfall here on the Outer Banks. Schools are on a 3 hr delay! We are supposed to be getting some more bad weather tonight into tomorrow. I don't mind as long as it stays away from our nest.
The bloodmobile is here at our church today, so will be going there around noon to see if I can give blood. A couple of times, my iron was too low.
I think that tweeting is coming from the eagle on the nest. Don't see breakfast in the nest, so maybe it is a low singing for a change of egg keeper.
It is the eagle as the sound is getting a little stronger. Time for a shift change. :) I'll be keeping the nest up while I head over to FB to see if anyone is up there yet.
All kinds of active wildlife outside my window. Squirrels and birds everywhere. Heard a loud "thunk" at the window and looked up to see that a squirrel had hit the window, but there is no windowsill or anything for the squirrel to sit on, so gravity took over and the little critter disappeared. Good think it did not get hold of the screen, as it would have ripped a hole in it.
Good morning to all ♥ Wonderful Wed new thread Thank you Steve I am just now signing on for the day - hello Candy and Shirley, I did read the previous blog comments from this morning. Seems as though all is well - sure hope the Texans get rid of their flu bug.
Not sure why our eagle is being so noisy but love it that the snow has gone from the nest.
I am expecting a visit from 2 of my girls today. I best get this coffee and all my meds in me so I can be up/running.
Shirley, I made the mistake of feeding out of my hand nuts to a squirrel and now have them over running our yard and house. Couldn't even grow patio tomatoes in my screen porch. They came right through the screen. :(
They are rascals, Candy. They come to my back porch for peanuts and whatever else I put out there. I can't grow tomatoes or corn in my back yard--well I can grow them, but I don't get any.
thank you for the eagle report this am Looks like brunch was brought in and eating on launch pad First I thought Belle in cup but not positive thought I saw V
I would love to know what is causing all the drams at our nest. I don't want to think about an intruder but what else would cause all of these eagle calls.
Blackwater finally got a good clear pic ......... Chick Note At this point it looks like we'll have a one-chick brood. We'll update the Eagle Cam Web Log tonight with the latest news.
Good morning! Well,it snowed, temps in upper 30's now and sun is out. Snow barely covered the ground and is about gone. Schools were mostly just delayed. Big disappointment for the kids!
Love getting a new thread every day.
Shirley, I think he is enjoying teaching but would rather teach Sr. English instead of Freshman English. He has applied at other school districts, including Denton and there is a good chance that he get another job. Ponder is a small school district and does not pay well. Joseph is coming back to Denton schools and will go to Denton H.S. There are four high schools in Denton. His best friends from church all will go to Denton High.
Joey is taking a group of kids to London over spring break in a few weeks, a Shakespeare tour. Laurel and the boys are staying home. Laurel is supposed to be getting new flooring in both bathrooms. We may take the boys on a short trip. That was Laurel's suggestion as she would like them to have some kind of trip. More thought needs to go into this.
No plans for today. I did pick some daffodils yesterday. Will pick more today. Ice did not destroy them all!
Had to search back to read about Andy. Some how had missed her comment.
Andy, we have had two leaks in our slab. One Christmas Laurel was sitting on the entry hall tile and noticed it was warm! Hot water leak in slab. Luckily it was under the carpet in the living room and not under the tile. They pulled the carpet back, tore into the concrete. (Big nasty hole!) fixed plumbing, poured concrete, put carpet back. Then it happened again but this time in the garage. No wall damage! Found both leaks quickly and they were teeny tiny!
Sorry you are having such a time!
Up to 50 and bright sunshine. What with ice, rain, snow we have had close to two inches. This is good and more rain in the forecast.
Have been watching Eagles while walking. Saw a big switcharoo and saw three awesome eggs! Also, play with laser light and Skippi while walking. She gets her excersize, too!😀
I enjoyed teaching senior English, Lolly, but I taught many years of freshman English first. Many of my teacher friends have said they really like teaching juniors the most. They have gained maturity and are not afflicted with the "senioritis" that seems to attack many 12th graders.
You know, Judy, I think those are pine cones. I have been wondering what they were, and I think you are right.
I do hope no would-be intruders are about, Jo. My impression this morning was that it was a restless eagle wanting relief from nest-tending, but I really do not know.
My first idea when I saw the nest is that they were pine cones. I have no idea why they would have been brought into the nest. Usually it is a sprig of pine that we see - a deodorizer.
I had seen so many comment of a shadow going over the nest ??? These alarm calls are mostly done as a warning but I really really hope they were calls of discontent and wanting to have a switch.
While I was at Hunter's school this afternoon, there was an announcement for staff about things they need to do in case of bad weather tomorrow, so they are getting ready for whatever might come. Last I heard, we are to get 1-3 inches here.
Well, I have some kind of problem with the birdbath heater, and now I have managed to get a big leak in the birdbath. It's plastic, and I poured hot water in it. I expect that caused the leak.
Went out this afternoon to refill the feeders. Had one partially filled and put it on the steps to go inside for more seeds. When I came back out, I encountered a little bird having seeds. It didn't want to wait for me to re-hang the feeder.
Hi all! I can hear a bird singing at the nest - no idea what kind! Glad I'm not hearing wind there! Is WV in the path of this next storm? I just read that our snow predictions have gone up - 1-3 inches earlier but now 3-5 inches. Starting after midnight and continuing through tomorrow morning so it could definitely impact school tomorrow. I brought home an IEP file just in case I'm home tomorrow.
Another gorgeous blue sunny skies day. Discarded jacket and hat! Too too warm. Honestly time to bring out my bicycle! Will phone to see when they can put on bike rack on car and tune up my bike. 24 days and it is spring! What ever snow comes now will not be much of a threat. Even thinking of removing my snow tires. Why put wear and tear on them? A month of dry roads. As it warms up the tires are softer and it wears them down! Off they go if the garage agrees with my thinking...
Dropping in to update you on our situation with the water leak. A guy came out this morning and did the tests to see if we have any asbestos. He said he would inform the insurance co. of the results this evening. We haven't heard anything regarding the results yet. We met Sis-in-law for lunch at the local McDonald's and caught her up on the situation. Didn't get much (if any) sleep last night because of the huge fans/dehumidifiers running all night. The fans aren't too loud, but when the pump goes on to rid the unit of water and run it down the bathroom drain, it's very loud and unexpected, and makes you jump about a foot out of your chair! Propping eyelids open with toothpicks. Was able to get Emma through the night, but she didn't get much sleep either. (She hates loud or sudden noises. Her nerves are finely tuned, because of all the strangers trooping through the house lately.) Hoping that they can begin plumbing repairs SOON! Washing up with baby wipes doesn't work as well as a shower or bath! May need to wear one of those pine tree thingies from the car wash around my neck soon! Going to say goodnight now, because I will probably fall asleep soon after dinner. Have a good evening, and SED. God bless! I ♥ us!!!
Somehow I have missed the original report on Andy's problems. Just read the description of trying to sleep with all of those machines running. Reminds me of trying to manage in my house with fans, etc., running after all of the water damage we had with the neighbor's fire. We gave up and went to a hotel. It wasn't just the noise, but trying to walk through the house with all of that equipment in the way--and the heat. Those things generated a lot of heat.
Andy - what a mess for you! I wish you had somewhere else to stay while things get repaired. I'm with you Shirley about going to a hotel. I guess I could always bunk in with some of our children if we had to. Don't know if a homeowners policy would foot some of the bill or not.
I know the situation is not funny, but I laughed thinking of this woman in CA running around with a pine deodorizer hanging around her neck. Hang in there , Andy!
Asking for a few prayers for the Fritz family. Joseph is now sick. Joey went to school but left early to go to the doctor. He has bronchitis! Laurel went to the doctor and she has bronchitis! Doctor thought about X-rays for pneumonia for Laurel but she said the meds she is getting for the bronchitis is the same meds she would give her for pneumonia. She is to monitor her fever carefully. Then Joseph got sick this evening. Probably will be running food up there! If we go, I will leave it on the door step!
If we start getting symptoms, we will certainly get to the doctor fast!
Understand what you mean about teaching seniors, Shirley. We are really hoping Joey gets the job in Denton. He is friends with the AP. He will be happy to be there and not care about what grade.
Goodorming my eagle friends - snow day for me! Woke up at 3am to go to the bathroom and saw nothing outside. By 5am it was snowing up a storm! Sadly, the phone call from the district at 5:20am woke the dogs and they wouldn't settle back down, so I was up by 5:45 so Denny could sleep a little longer. I see a nap in my future today. I did bring an IEP home with me so I will be working from home!
Shirley, I bet you're getting hit big time with this snow as well. Dana reported on FB already that she has nothing but Baltimore County, Harford County, and Howard County in MD are on delays.
Too dark to see anything at the nest yet. But Belle is calling out - I can just barely see a white head on the cam.
Andy, call your insurance company about paying for a hotel - surely that would be covered! Or, do you have a neighbor who would let you use their shower?? I wouldn't hesitate to help out a neighbor with something like that!
Just a trace of new snow on the nest this morning. Not sure which eagle is on duty right now. The three pine cones seem to have attracted the snow for some reason.
Bunches of snow here and still coming down. A pretty snow that's clinging to all of the tree branches.
I looked out this morning and saw a little bird hiding underneath a planter I have attached to the porch rail.
School here is closed for the day.
Oh, Andy, I hope you can find a better situation. Surely insurance will pay for a hotel room, and for food for the time you are there. When we stayed in the hotel, the school would have even sent a bus there for Hunter. I thought that was interesting, but we weren't there for long, and it wasn't a problem for me to take him.
Prayers for you and your family, Lolly. I hope everyone is better very soon.

Wake up all you sleepy heads! :)
It looks like the sun is starting to shine on the nest and the eagle still calling out a little louder. Patience is wearing thin. :)
She or he is really calling now.
Good morning,
Egg roll.
Eagle just got up off the eggs and is still calling. Must have been an egg roll as eagle is moving ever so gently back onto the eggs.
Eagle calls. Sounding very sad.
Hi Shirley. the eagle has been calling out like this for awhile now. No sign of help coming.
Calling. Looking around.
Shadow passing over and many excited calls.
I think relief is in sight! At least she seemed to really be calling out excitedly. No mate yet so far.
Sounds like eagle is up overhead in tree calling back.
Good morning, Candy.
Shadow from above again.
Yes Shirley, that is what I thought. I also hear sounds from above. That wind is really blowing.
All kinds of active wildlife outside my window. Squirrels and birds everywhere. Haven't yet checked the previous thread, Candy. I need to do that.
I think we have Shep in the nest. I think the poor guy gets restless if he has to stay there too long.
Lots of eagle calls.
Poof.
Cam shake.
More calls.
Eagle in.
Settling on eggs.
Another cam shake.
More calls from above.
I think we still have Shep in the nest.
Was that a big argument? Shep wants to leave. Belle says no way.
Was trying to read the old thread when all of the commotion started.
Looking above.
Huge cam shake.
Good morning Jo.
Shirley, I made the mistake of feeding out of my hand nuts to a squirrel and now have them over running our yard and house. Couldn't even grow patio tomatoes in my screen porch. They came right through the screen. :(
It seems that mate is above on the cam. More looking up.
I see there was a shift in the nest sitter. Belle, you can handle it!
They are rascals, Candy. They come to my back porch for peanuts and whatever else I put out there. I can't grow tomatoes or corn in my back yard--well I can grow them, but I don't get any.
You think that is Belle? Maybe I'm mistaken.
Eagle yawn.
I am sleepy, even though I've had two cups of coffee. Think I'll take a break. Better to sleep now than this afternoon.
It would be interesting to grow peanuts.
Sorry about the water damage ANDY.
Good morning all.
Feeling well with my morning.
Very deep and sound sleep.
Love the day light.
Make it a good day.

I had a very good visit with my girls
I may have missed Kay if she were here this morning - hope all is well.
Well weather forecast as of 2 or 3am in the early morning for more snow to fall. I think they say 2-3"
Need to plan some dinner - I am hungry already.
I saw shadows this morning, Jo. I think it is likely it was the other one of our pair coming close.
While I was at Hunter's school this afternoon, there was an announcement for staff about things they need to do in case of bad weather tomorrow, so they are getting ready for whatever might come. Last I heard, we are to get 1-3 inches here.

Hi Judy. Enjoyed the pics of yours and Jo's today. Spent my breaks at work talking and not watching the Cam.
Did something small just land in nest.
I think a small gray bird is in nest now at about 7.

Weather forecast says less than an inch of snow for Shepherdstown tonight, and less than an inch tomorrow.
For here, 3-5 inches total.
So we shall see. Hunter and I will probably be spending some time together this week.
More snow - not as much the farther west you go.... I was just getting use to the bare roads and driveways.
Just a show or two for tonight on TV
3 more days and Feb is a finished deal...
Everyone enjoy your evening -- Kay was here Tues morning time. Hope we hear from her again real soon.
BBL
I am wearing down. I'll say good night in case I don't make it back.
Hi, Gang,
Dropping in to update you on our situation with the water leak. A guy came out this morning and did the tests to see if we have any asbestos. He said he would inform the insurance co. of the results this evening. We haven't heard anything regarding the results yet. It wasn't just the noise, but trying to walk through the house with all of that equipment in the way--and the heat. Those things generated a lot of heat.
Insurance paid for the hotel bill.
Well, I did not go upstairs after the first time I said good night, but I am going up now. SED, everyone. :)
Andy - what a mess for you! I wish you had somewhere else to stay while things get repaired. I'm with you Shirley about going to a hotel. I guess I could always bunk in with some of our children if we had to.
Don't know if a homeowners policy would foot some of the bill or not.
I am closing down for the day.
Everyone be careful tomorrow when you awaken - check out your snow!
Goodnight to all ♥
I know the situation is not funny, but I laughed thinking of this woman in CA running around with a pine deodorizer hanging around her neck. Hang in there , Andy!
Asking for a few prayers for the Fritz family. Joseph is now sick. Joey went to school but left early to go to the doctor. He has bronchitis! Laurel went to the doctor and she has bronchitis! Have agreat day all.
There is snow in the nest and on an eagle's back - not sure which one is in the nest but I'm assuming it's still Belle. Some calling out.
Just a trace of snow in the nest. Cam just shook - maybe Shep took off to get some breakfast before starting his morning egg sitting duty?
Breakfast just arrived at the nest. Eggs are uncovered while Belle is chowing down. Shep is standing on the edge of the nest.
Eagle back to sitting on the eggs but I'm not sure which parent left and which is on duty.
Good morning,
Just a trace of new snow on the nest this morning.
Good morning
