Good morning. Thanks Janet. Thanks Steve for new thread. Jo. - hope you get pipes un-froze. Windy and cold here. Snow did not amount to much here. Been watching Cam off and on. I did taxes Thursday and noticed I entered two identical address lines. Return was accepted but now worried it will mess something up. Also filed for two Healthcare exemptions. The way I understood thingy I was to file out more than one page but didn't. Guess time will tell. Stay warm.

Well, we are having hairdryer issues today.
Kathryn's blows cold air--not good on such a cold day, so I said to use mine. Somehow, mine got fried. Kathryn said it was scary, and we lost power to the bathroom circuits. Taught Hunter how to re-set with the button in the garage. Kathryn is off to the store for groceries and two hairdryers.

I only know one thing to pass along about heating appliances...

any heating item should not be
plugged into the same outlet with another heating item...for example,
electric blanket, and steam iron...
or curling iron...
it does something to the electronics...I learned it the hard way, unfortunately....but there was no fire danger, just
ruined the electric blanket...

No frozen pipes so far at my house, Judy. At least not that I know of . . . we sometimes get frozen pipes in the laundry room, so we heat that room up with an electric heater whenever cold weather is predicted.
As far as I know, we only had one heated appliance going when the dryer quit. She said it wouldn't work in my bathroom she took it into her bedroom where it died an electrifying death. We figure the bathroom circuit might have gone out because of the defective dryer.
At one point, the bathroom outlet circuit was connected to the basement and the outdoor outlets, as well as one outlet in the kitchen, but we had that changed because Will was using electricity in the basement and we were always overloading. I still try to be careful about plugging in the hairdryer at the same time as the curling iron. Also have found that the vacuum cleaner uses a lot of electricity.
Heard some eagle calls . . . must check.
Need to run the carpet shampooer while everyone is gone. BBL.
It is good that eagles are tough birds.
I do not see any drama at the nest, though . . . just lots of wind and a swaying nest.
Good news - WATER IS UP/RUNNING

Oh, Happy Day--a new thread thanks to the ever faithful STEVE and a call over by JANET--in addition to that we have a cold, windy day at the nest, but no big snow build up for Belle and Shep to contend with.
Are you Nest Reporters thinking that "sub-adult" was back again? If so it looks like things are now under control.
Our high today will be 6 and I don't even want to know about the wind chill factor. Penny has not been outside for more than 2 min. in the last 24 hours--she gets right at "it" and leads me back to the door.
Forecast is for a miserable week--think I'll cancel an appt. as well as doggy play day and stay hunkered down til' this polar whatever plays itself out.
The TV weather guys say to leave several household faucets dribbling in order to prevent frozen pipes. Wonder if that works with the extremes we're having now. Fortunately there is a well insulated basement under my condo and with four apts. in the building there is undoubtedly the frequent running of water. I've washed two loads of clothes and have run the dishwasher today with no problem. Whew!
Have as good a day as possible and get ready to enjoy tomorrow's holiday if you have it off!

Wow! What weather! I was really wrong last night predicting rain! About 7 PM we got fat snowflakes even tho it was 40°!!! Later the wind picked up and guess it got so cold our less than 1" snow didn't blow away! Got down to 20° and we have 22° right now, lots of sun but still some wind. Global Warming?????
Of course last night was the first Nascar prelim Race. The Biggy will be next Sunday, still at Daytona. Matt Kenseth won last night~~~have to get accustomed to hearing race motors going around in a circle again!!!
I haven't seen Belle stand up, but guess there isn't a 2nd egg. Thank goodness!

I have finished shampooing the family room. Still need to do the dining room. Should do the sofa and recliner, but that would leave us with nowhere to sit in here, so I will have to think about that.
Birds are really enjoying my bird bath with the heater, and I did see a squirrel get a drink as well. He sat on the porch steps and could easily reach the bird bath from there. Nice to see them get what they need. Even saw one bird fly out of the middle of the bath. I wouldn't think many of them want to bathe . . . the water isn't all that warm.

When I go to volunteer and yoga I will wear shoes today!!! Unheard of!

good afternoon all.
supposedly we have a snow storm coming. not supposed to start til tonight. we are going to Chelsea's for dinner. Olivia wishes to extend her wkend stay there by a day or two to play in the anticipated snow with the kids. so will take over extra clothes and sleds.
I am not holding my breath, but ifit does good. we have food, clothes, shovels. bring it.
I think if Hoda starts a snow tantrum we should consider feeding her a brownie..............

We have our first chick. This chick was a little late, so we don't know how quickly the others will come.
Well, missed the arrival of the second egg. Sat here this afternoon with the cam going. Then ran some errands. We got Skippi a harness and she has accepted it. No problem. This is in preparation of taking her traveling with us. Then ran to the grossssserie store. Going to make my Valentine a lemon pie tomorrow. I know....a little late.
We just came in. An Eastern Bluebird America and took a bath in the birdbath will we were out. Actually ther were two! See them so seldom. It is 67 but cloudy and damp. We have had a few sprinkles!
Hoda, hang in there. Surely you will get more snow. Not sure what will happen here.
