Capt. Gene realizes that with eggs being laid and hatching and watching them grow and fledge, that I will be in my office nearly 24/7...so, he finally put a TV in here so I could watch "YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS" and our eagles at the same time;)
Good Morning Friends! Love seeing you here Sharon and Wanda. Thanks for the early Monday morning thread. (Early to me)
Love looking at our dry nest in the sunshine. Can it last 'til hatching??? I am waiting for Jenny to call and then meet up with her. I need to look at earlier thread.
Wanda, that guy that used to play Simon on ATWT shot him. Cane was trying to get into the church to stop Jill and Colin's wedding. Lily was there waiting and came outside. Former Simon aimed the gun at her and the babies. Cane jumped in the way.
Blake, his name was Blake. he is dead too. HOWEVER, why all this happened is a mystery to me! I really don't know the whole story line since I don't get to watch much.
Good Morning! Chilly morning here but the sun is shining and the snow and ice are gone gone gone! However, more is coming Wed and more temps down into the teens.
Lynne, I do not imagine NBG would be getting a third egg today. She labored hard and long yesterday. First egg was laid on the third, and she went three days before having the second.
Eagle has been off our egg since I got on. Think I hear the kids on the playground. First time this year.
I don't even SEE the egg it's so deep in the nest cup! Had a "heart beating wildly" moment there, but I did see the egg before so it's just DEEP inside!
Judie the egg is just very deep in the egg cup and possibly covered up. Hope it hasn't gone out of sight for them. They have been off the egg cup for quite a while.
Darth the egg is way down deep in the egg well. You really have to sit up straight and look way down in! Good to hear from you this morning.. Are you on your own or acting as a spokesman for Judie?
Don't laugh, but I felt like standing up and looking down from the top of the computer screen......but I decided that craning my neck was better! This is only the second day! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!
me too. I read earlier on the NBG blog that they will "slow down" incubation of the eggs, and get out of the nest, so they all hatch closer together. But this is a really long time.
OMG! What am I going to be like in a few weeks time? Or when poop shoot time comes, or when the eaglets will try out their wings and jump all over the place!
Hi, Darth and Just Vicky! I'm afraid that egg is falling deeper and deeper into the bottomless pit (aka, cup) As the snow melts, it has to change the constructioon of the new nest. Maybe they will dig for it if it does fall down.
Judie is resting her leg and doing her school work in bed. She is in pain today [like most days lately], popped a pain pill and probably overdid it yesterday. [We go to see the bone doc later this week about the pain and what appears to be a lingering infection.]
She prepared almost the entire dinner yesterday, especially the Barbecued Ribs [rubbed down ala the Fire House recipe] and Campbell's Pork and Beans duly "adjusted" by Chef Judie. Absolutely Great !!
It was a real luxury to have someone else do the vooking.
Thanks to you all about educating me to the missing egg. I hope you are right. The fact that there is an eagle standing by on the nest encourages me that you are correct.
You will probably hear direct from Miss Judith later today.
OK Not to worry - Belle and Liberty know what to do and when to do it!
I am also concerned as to the whereabouts of Andy. I pray she and Hubby are well and just extremely busy. But if possible, Andy let us know how you are
Thanks Darth - glad to hear Dr appointment later in the week. Hope he has some answers for the pain. He may say she overdoes it but the therapy seems to be going well. I will look forward to hearing from her later.
Darth, sorry that Judie is hurting. And I hate to hear that the infection is still a concern. :( Rib dinner sounds great----good for Judie! Just think, Darth---you have learned SO much in these months about vooking and housekeeping---more than you probably ever wanted to know! You've been a real trooper, but we expect nothing less!
I got a glimpse of the egg for a second.....it is 40° here....but does seem like an excesssive time to be off it this early in the process. Hope all is well.
Hi Miss Vicky!!! Do you have lots of snow like Glo?
Darth - I broke my ankle 4 yrs ago & have 8 pins + plate. I found elevation ABOVE level of the heart to be very helpful, even though it's hard to do for long periods. Then bring it down to even with hip level, which is better than no elevation. But the swelling contributes a lot to the pain in recovery of this, and elevation is key to reducing it. Ice helps too.
I can remember one of our eggs being orphaned for a very long time but can't remember exactly how long. Does seem way too long. Do you join me in thinking it is being buried to keep it warm...or it may have sunk down onto the first floor nest?
No Wanda, it's there and not too far down. I caught a brief glimpse when the eagle returned, and then did an egg roll just before getting back on the nest for a few minutes. Some fluff was pushed in just before it got back on, but just a little.
I also think, JMHO, that deeper in the nest would be cooler to some degree. Probably not by much though. The fluff will insulate the eggs, but without a heat source, the egg cup can't stay warm for very long, esp given the cold temps and lack of strong sun.
It's strange, too, that this bird is looking consistently in the same direction rather than looking all around. And hasn't moved from that spot.. It's now been one hour and 50 minutes. This whole scenario is weird.
Good afternoon. Popping in to say hello...just finished cleaning carpets. Blah! Hope everything is ok with the egg. I'm like the rest of you, a worried Mom. Always ask myself why I do this to myself. LOL!
I had to restart my computer and haven't popped up the pop up yet. BUT I do remember from the past that they do slow sown incubating time on the first egg before egg two is laid.. It helps keep the newly hatched a little closer together and size for ability to get some food etc. Hopefully that is all that is going on.
from NBG moderator regard a question just posted about how long they can stay off of the eggs...
Judy: Source DGIF: How long they can stay off of the egg is partially dictated by ambient temperature; ambient is the temperature of the surrounding environment. The adults won’t leave them uncovered for any length of time. When it is warmer outside, they might stay off the eggs for longer periods of time - especially when it comes closer to hatching.
Eagles sit on their eggs most of the time--one study showed that the eggs were incubated 98% of the time! But when the temperature is warm and there is little wind, the parents incubate less often. Sometimes when the parents leave the eggs, they cover them with feathers and nesting materials.
We went out to check things out and both birds were perched in the tree. Dead calm, very quiet there. Not even going to attempt to explain the behavior today.
I just checked the temp - 43 - and Steve said "dead calm." So if the eagles decide that it's relatively warm (and remember what their nest conditions were like this time last year?? BLIZZARD after BLIZZARD!) and there's no wind at all, this may be perfectly normal behavior.
Eagles often don't incubate the first and second egg (if there's going to be a third egg) full time until they are all laid.
That way they will hatch closer together and their development won't be on as radically different level after hatching.
So, combine that fact with the warmer weather, and the pair's behavior today is perfectly normal. And the egg won't be damaged by it at this early stage.
Hello Everyone! Haven't posted in a couple of years and I had to check in today!! Saw that egg all by itself - no parents nearby and nearly had heart failure! Thankfully, I'm busy getting the house ready for company so just kept checking back...Whew!
Trust the eagles....what is cold for us may not be cold for them...or the egg. As I said earlier, in reviewing last years video on Saturday, when we had the 3rd and 4th egg, we saw a lot of this as well...and that was in the snowy nest.
Ignore the idiots on the Outdoor Channel blog who call our eagles Fap and Gomi Gracie...what kind of names are those anyhow? I am going to stop arguing with them....or else the Moderator is going to kick me out!
Well, have hobbled my way across the hall to see how Belle, Lib, the egg, and my blog family are doing only to find Darth has been carrying on with you ladies while my back was turned.
I too am feeling some concern about the egg and Jim's comment is very encouraging. Have to just continue to accept that Belle and Lib know what they are doing and they are not asking us for advice.
Been resting my ankle and reading/making notes for tomorrow's class. Have therapy after class. See the surgeon on Thursday morning before class then therapy after. Kind of a busy week.
Hope all are doing well. Need to read back to find out what Paula is referring to regarding names for Belle and Lib. Probably trolls - ignore -- they need an audience.
And after reading the comments on their forum, which I don't recommend, they have now made it a game to aggravate you. They are trolling the outdoor tv page. And signing in as different people as they get thrown out. I can't comment on outdoor tv site cause it won't let me sign in.
OH, I am just going to ignore their comments...I don't care if they give my comments any thumbs down or what they say. I shared the Blackwater site on there for people that are truly interested in eagles. And I will continue to answer or speak to the good folks there...not all of them are bad!!
I have returned after spending the afternoon with Aaron and Jenny! We had fun! Have I ever told any of you that I really really love my kids and mygrandkids and my great-grandkids!
I am thankful the nest and its residents are A-ok! Sorry for concerns that sometimes drives us Momsters and Dadsters crazy!
I'm sorry Jo. I fell asleep last night just before halftime. So, forgot to turn my light off (Darth apparently did that after arriving home in his Passat)and I slept through leaving the night light on. I'll do better. Promise!
Judie - I know you do your utmost! Thanks so much - Now the mystery for us is "Where is Andy". Last we heard from her was Saturday the 5th around 9:40 am..
Good Afternoon Everyone! Thx, Steve, for taking time to answer ??? See that egg sitting is going on now. Cam page temp says 26° ??? We have 50° here, but getting cloudy. Thought maybe it was warmer & that's why adults out of nest so long.
Had oncology appt. & for the first time, don't return until ! YEAR!!!! BTW, I recall long ago there was discussion about some the cancer marker blood tests and people were being urged to have a new ovarian CA test, I believe. I asked about that & lab nurses said it's usually only done as a diagnostic tool if someone has symptoms(too late then) :>(. They aren't done routinely because insurance won't pay!!!!AAARRRGGGHHH So, the rest of the story.
Yes, I caught some of stupid comments under the cam & looks like Outdoor will take care of it & spare us. I'm not reading them--we have enought good stuff of our own to read & write about! ☺
Since Judie missed some of Super Bowl, wonder if Darth saw the little Darth VW ad? Cool

GOOD MORNING AGAIN:)
They didn't get your message, Sharon:)
Oh, yes, Glo...we will be in labor again tonight or tomorrow:)
February is such a depressing month, but our eagles and the egglets make this month doable;)
i just did, Wanda! Thanks, Sharon!
Egg is lost in that deep cup!
Capt. Gene realizes that with eggs being laid and hatching and watching them grow and fledge, that I will be in my office nearly 24/7...so, he finally put a TV in here so I could watch "YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS" and our eagles at the same time;)

I need to look at earlier thread.
Wanda - Capt Gene is a keeper !
If the fluff would fall into the egg well that egg would be lost!
Lynn, who shot Cane and why. I only get a chance to watch once or twice a week...have missed a lot:(
Yes, he is a keeper, Jo. Who knew?
Just saw a robing fly over....beautiful!
I really don't know the whole story line since I don't get to watch much.
eagle is off the nest and standing
beautiful close up of mom at NBG. Third egg for them today maybe?
did I miss it....has there been a breakfast delivery this morning or a switch?
duh, no third egg for NBG today....just had second yesterday.
There were switches but they got their own breakfast this morning. Some chirping and calling, lots of rearranging of sticks...
Hi Lynne, see that you corrected yourself.
Good morning Guela. What time of day is it there?
thanks Geula.
wow Lolly, MORE cold??? That sucks. Looks like we are getting a warm up mid to end of week here!
LOL! NOT day, NOT morning! Like it's almost 6 pm here...You folks eat breakfast while I eat dinner!
hate to leave but I really need to get some things done. BBL
starting to get concerned that Andy hasn't checked in yet.
Boy, they really have to stick their heads way down in that hole to roll the egg. Too funny!
Yeah, it is almost turning into an egg toss!
I don't even SEE the egg it's so deep in the nest cup! Had a "heart beating wildly" moment there, but I did see the egg before so it's just DEEP inside!
Just tuned in [1110 EST]. An eagle in the nest. But, I cannot see the egg.
Anyone know what is going on? Egg covered over with fluff? Egg moved under cover of twigs? Egg moved out of nest?
I am new at this.
Darth
Geula it is so good to have you here with us - You are a great source to let us know if we miss anything.
Love your Valentine Eagle Lynne.
Hopefully I will see some more robings today just like you!
Daughter called and I will also be meeting gs, Aaron at Panera.
May need to check out the mac/cheese that Paula say is so good.
Judie the egg is just very deep in the egg cup and possibly covered up. Hope it hasn't gone out of sight for them. They have been off the egg cup for quite a while.
Whoops...hi Darth. Just realized it was you. The egg is still there, just out of sight.
Awww, jo! Gee, thanks! It just gives me an excuse to sit here at the computer for HOURS! LOL!
Darth the egg is way down deep in the egg well. You really have to sit up straight and look way down in!
Good to hear from you this morning..
Are you on your own or acting as a spokesman for Judie?
Time to get moving...laundry and dusting on the menu for today.
BBL
Jo, eagle hs been off the egg for a very long time. I know they stay off of it for a while, but this long?
Don't laugh, but I felt like standing up and looking down from the top of the computer screen......but I decided that craning my neck was better! This is only the second day! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!
Let the good times roll again folks! Hello from Illinois! YES I'M WATCHING!
LOL Guela! Eagle brain?(not bird brain!)
Hi Vicky! Great to see ya!
still off of the nest huh? almost an hour....at least. That's when I noticed. Does seem like a long time. TOO long if you ask me!
Hey Vicky!! Welcome back!
Geula, you just have the FEVER!
Lynne, I was going to leave and still plan to get busy, but I am worried about the egg!

I'm afraid that egg is falling deeper and deeper into the bottomless pit (aka, cup) As the snow melts, it has to change the constructioon of the new nest. Maybe they will dig for it if it does fall down.
Yes, I understand that is the case but it has been way over an hour.
Oh, well, I am going to get busy, sitting here worrying does not help.
BBL
perhaps, if this is Belle, she is uncomfortable due to another egg on the way?
And GEULA, what are you going to do when you get WAX?;)
LOL Geula....you'll be JUST LIKE THE REST OF US!!!!
Okay kids, let's not panic...everything is probably just fine We'll hit the panic button when the time is right, okay?
Morning everyone...I see they have the egg buried in the nest cup. Wonder when the next one will be laid?
oh dear...she poofed.
MT nest
someone is back. Oh geez, I have that weird sound again.
JUST SAQW THE EGG!
and we are incubating once more!
She's back and laying on the egg :)
BACK...gosh, it's deep! wiggle wiggle! PHEW!
I say Please Return! There you go, Just like Geula said - Not to Panic!
Arranging that clump of pine needles -just so-
All worried eagle watchers are now relieved!
one hour, 10 minutes.
Got a very quick look at the egg when the eagle returned and did an egg roll.
Oh, thank goodness, finally on the egg! I am such a worrier!!!
I think someone just landed on the camera branch LOL
Hi Ya'll and Mema Jo:
Judie is resting her leg and doing her school work in bed. She is in pain today [like most days lately], popped a pain pill and probably overdid it yesterday. [We go to see the bone doc later this week about the pain and what appears to be a lingering infection.]

Till then,
Darth
Wow, what was all the snippiness about? Someone's cranky today!
Hi, Darth! What's up in my ol' town? Is Judie okay???
More nestoration....Lib is back...a bit of squabbling.
Thanks, Lynne , for filling in Wanda on Y&R! It all has to do with Australian mob.....and that SOB father of Cane's!
Wanda, glad you got a TV in the office!!
I think one is angry the the other took so long getting back for a switch!
OK Not to worry - Belle and Liberty know what to do and when to do it!
I am also concerned as to the whereabouts of Andy. I pray she and Hubby are well and just extremely busy.
But if possible, Andy let us know
how you are
will someone PLEASE warm that egg up!
It must have been Lib sitting on the egg. Belle gave him hell for touching the grass that she brought. GONE!
Lynn, what is Jill's relationship to Cane?
Thanks Darth - glad to hear Dr appointment later in the week. Hope he has some answers for the pain. He may say she overdoes it but the therapy seems to be going well. I will
look forward to hearing from her later.
Well, egg got warmed up for a bit, then the new fluff with a bit of disagreement over it, now one eagle left alone next to the egg. Interesting!
one hour and 20 minutes off the egg, save for a couple of minutes. What is going on here?
hey Darth, thanks for the update....saw a little Darth in a superbowl commercial...oh, saw a Magpie in one too!
Geula....had to laugh at your urge to stand and look down from on high!
OK, now is that Lib, and Belle flew in and out? If so, why isn't he incubating? Do they know something we don't?
Darth - I broke my ankle 4 yrs ago & have 8 pins + plate. I found elevation ABOVE level of the heart to be very helpful, even though it's hard to do for long periods. Then bring it down to even with hip level, which is better than no elevation. But the swelling contributes a lot to the pain in recovery of this, and elevation is key to reducing it. Ice helps too.
Well once again I have lost track of time by watching our nest. Must be on my way - Will check in as soon as I return.
No Hedgie, Glo has much more snow than I, however, she didn't get the ice dump that we got!
Gee, I missed the fact that Babe Ruth had a birthday yesterday....his sister lived in nearby Hagerstown until she died in '92.
Enjoy your lunch and family, Jo:)
Hmmm...ice is worse than snow, Vicky.
Enjoy your lunch, Jo!
picture got suddenly bright.
OK, one hour 30 minutes. I think this is not good.
By the way, Darth----saw you on a Superbowl car commercial last night----you shrank!
I do think I see a bit of the egg. It is 41°, not very warm but not freezing.
Good afternoon. Popping in to say hello...just finished cleaning carpets. Blah! Hope everything is ok with the egg. I'm like the rest of you, a worried Mom. Always ask myself why I do this to myself. LOL!
I see that too Wanda, and I'm hoping it is NOT the egg. If it's under fluff, I think that would be better. At least it would be covered all the way...
Hi Diane! Yep, feeling like I'm sitting vigil.
I think I can see the egg, too. Or it's just some light fluff, and our egg is covered.
When I was reviewing last years videos, we had some long periods of Lib being off the egg as well.
I had to restart my computer and haven't popped up the pop up yet. BUT I do remember from the past that they do slow sown incubating time on the first egg before egg two is laid.. It helps keep the newly hatched a little closer together and size for ability to get some food etc. Hopefully that is all that is going on.
Eagle in the nest as I popped up the pop up :-)
LOL! I have FINALLY figured out what the stupid sound is I keep hearing! It is the NBG blog...it makes clicking when someone posts! DUH!
Okay, this is not good. Poor little egg!
UGH, MT nest now
That was a sudden poof and egg alone once again.
2 hours.
Lynne, how are you at egg sitting?
LOL! Shall I march on Sh'town and take over?!
If Horton can hatch and egg.....
Go for it! ☺
I'm watching too....
I just sent an email to Steve to give him the time line of what we have been watching.
told him you all had good commentary on the action for the last 90 mins or so
Thanks, Margy! Maybe Steve can help Lynne get up there! LOL
Hi Margy! Thanks for doing that. Sure wish we could see the surrounding area.....
they'll be needin' that crane again to get me up there, but the tree will need to be reinforced first...
at times the only movement I could see at all was the eyes blinking..
do I understand that was Liberty there? I read thru comments rather quickly
Lynn2, I was thinking the same thing! I'll go sit on it for a while. ;-)
roflmbo
Wow, Lynne, Diane is going to help you!
we can take turns Diane!
Not sure Margy....I can't tell them apart :(
Egg has been alone in the nest now for close to 25 minutes. Grrrr!
Whoops, I am wrong. Looked at the clock wrong. Make that 10 minutes.
It just seems like forever.
I do appreciate what Jo posted at 11:50:
OK Not to worry - Belle and Liberty know what to do and when to do it!
We'll remain hopeful no doubt...
and trust Nature
10:36 was when you and I both commented on the flyout Lolly.
Eagle back....now poleeeeze, sit on that egg!
one is back! sitting on edge can see feet
Eagle is frozen to the spot where it landed on the edge of the nest.
for the love of Moses DON'T JUST STAND THERE GET IN THE EGG CUP
Okay, I am leaving again. Got laundry started, not to accomplish a few other tasks. Will have an eye on the cam.
Eagle still frozen to the edge of the nest. Can see only lower portion of eagle.
now to accomplish but then again maybe NOT. LOL
Don't understand this inattention......
We've had no sight of Lib bringing food into Belle, either, have we???
from NBG moderator regard a question just posted about how long they can stay off of the eggs...
Judy:
Source DGIF: How long they can stay off of the egg is partially dictated by ambient temperature; ambient is the temperature of the surrounding environment. The adults won’t leave them uncovered for any length of time. When it is warmer outside, they might stay off the eggs for longer periods of time - especially when it comes closer to hatching.
No Lynn, I asked earlier, see Geula's post at 10:50
UGH. Poofed.
Gone
I hear them, and the cam was moving..must be very close by.
it sounded to me like they mated
well folks, it's been 2 and half hours without incubation. I'm very sad. I just think it's way too long....
Found on one eagle info website:
Eagles sit on their eggs most of the time--one study showed that the eggs were incubated 98% of the time! But when the temperature is warm and there is little wind, the parents incubate less often. Sometimes when the parents leave the eggs, they cover them with feathers and nesting materials.
Seems to be no wind there today
Hear lots of calling
Somebody just jostled the tree
We went out to check things out and both birds were perched in the tree. Dead calm, very quiet there. Not even going to attempt to explain the behavior today.
thanks Steve. I guess it's just "one of those things".
Let's hope it's to bring the hatching times into sync!
and back in the egg cup!
Thanks, Steve;) Eagle back- now both
One then the other back on the nest!
EAGLE IN THE NEST!!
Eagle back.....now both....a nosing at egg but not a roll. Now rearranging fluff and pine needles......
Both in the nest!
both
More stick attention.
and out, so no one incubating yet.
one poof
they covered the egg cup
Thanks Steve for checking and then posting. We appreciate it!
Walked by, saw both eagles, then one poofed. Still not covering the egg.
If it is out of sight is it out of mind?
Back to work!
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Good Morning,
EveryonE...
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
I guess the egg is actually there ... just covered up.
Looks like a nice warm day.
C(°Ù¿°)D Jim
I just checked the temp - 43 - and Steve said "dead calm." So if the eagles decide that it's relatively warm (and remember what their nest conditions were like this time last year?? BLIZZARD after BLIZZARD!) and there's no wind at all, this may be perfectly normal behavior.
fussing with the egg cup
Thanks Steve
We'll just be standing our Feather Family...through thick and thin
FINALLY settling in.
Wiggle, wiggle, ahhh . . . relief!
FINALLY! Sitting on the egg.
Thank goodness FINALLY DOWN ON THE EGG!
Yes, there's no breeze, it's 42° and the sun was out for quite a while this morning.
and back on.
That's pretty chilly K'bird. Especially after 2 hours and 40 minutes uncovered. Only time will tell us now.....
They know what they are doing! :)
Exactly:)
C(°Ù¿°)D Jim
I've no doubt THEY know what they are doing.....but we sure don't!
Hello Everyone!
Haven't posted in a couple of years and I had to check in today!! Saw that egg all by itself - no parents nearby and nearly had heart failure! Thankfully, I'm busy getting the house ready for company so just kept checking back...Whew!
Hello Iris! Great to see you!
Hi, Iris! Tried to send you an email yesterday with a big attachment and it came back saying that it was too big!!!! :(
Company coming here, too. Christie is stopping in on her way back from Cumberland! Haven't seen my girl in several weeks.
Trust the eagles....what is cold for us may not be cold for them...or the egg. As I said earlier, in reviewing last years video on Saturday, when we had the 3rd and 4th egg, we saw a lot of this as well...and that was in the snowy nest.
Humm last post 2:16 am I seeing that right??
Read comments thanks Steve.
Guess Jo is right...nothing we can do from here...add a prayer in there.
Ignore the idiots on the Outdoor Channel blog who call our eagles Fap and Gomi Gracie...what kind of names are those anyhow? I am going to stop arguing with them....or else the Moderator is going to kick me out!
Judie keeping you in prayer...I thought that infection had left.
Hope the Bone Dr. can fix it up and make the infection leave nice and quickly.
Darth on tv ... that was something...he has many attributes. ( :
That is where I have been some this morning. Reading those comments.
Your right ... let them idiots say what they want...the other people got your message and are using the correct names.
Paula, the Outdoor tv moderator just commented on this morning's posts. Questioning the others posting there.
BBL
We had fun! Have I ever told any of you that I
really really love my kids and mygrandkids and my great-grandkids!
I am thankful the nest and its residents are A-ok! Sorry for concerns
that sometimes drives us Momsters and Dadsters crazy!
Feet are going up!!!
Last we heard from her was Saturday the 5th around
9:40 am..
Lib in, looks like a switch. Egg looks pretty :)
Lib is incubating
FAP and Gomi.....??? Really? UGH.
Glad you had a good time Jo!
Good news Loretta!
Glad you hobbled across the hall Judie, good to see ya!
Cool
Hi y'all! I've been checking in and am glad to see we have an egg, yay!!!!
So excited for a new season!
