Thanks for the new thread, Steve, and for the call-over, Margy.

Shirley:

I absolutely love the picture of Hunter in his Catcher's Gear.
He is smiling! Such a wonderful Smile !!

The catcher you know, makes a lot of very important decisions about the whole entire game !
Best Wishes to Hunter and his teeam-mates, and HIS FANS !!!

Ahh, a new "Andrew's birthday" thread! :)

magpie said...

Is Andrew going to wear his Birthday Suit for Birthday dinner?
When I was turning 6,
and trying to dress for my party,
one of my sisters told me she thought I should wear my Brthday suit for my Birthday party
I said I would, if I knew where it was !

Have Fun tonight, Sharon and many of the Southern Delegation ☺

Lolly said...

Thanks for the call over Margy!

Have been checking the 10 day forecast for Rocky Mt. Natl Park/Estes Park and it is looking fantabulous! Highs in the 60's and lows in the upper 30's. Heaven! Good sleeping weather, good campfire weather, good hiking weather. However, so many of the trails are still closed. Oh, well, we will hike where we can.

Going to meet Michael half way this evening to get his camping gear.

I really need to go dry my hair now. See ya later folks!

Hi, Everyone,

Thank you, Steve, for the new thread, and thanks to Margy for the call-over.

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO SHARON'S ANDREW! Bet the Birthday Dinner will be fun.

Happy Anniversary to Lynn's grandparents, too.

Shirley, I'm glad you're feeling better this morning. Your dentist sounds like a VERY good one. Sorry to hear the game was so late last night. Doesn't seem right. Way too late for young kids, and for working parents.

Lolly, sure am thrilled that you got some rain! YIPPEE!!!

Well, better get going here. Have to go pick up more dog food, and maybe some vincas to put in our planter out front. They do much better there than almost anything else does.

DID YOU KNOW: Vinblastine and vincristine (Vinca alkaloid chemotherapy drugs) are extracted from the Madagascar rosy periwinkle plant. The scientific name for this common evergreen ground-cover plant is Vinca rosea. It takes over 6 tons of periwinkle leaves to produce 1 ounce of drug. The drugs interfere with cancer cell division.

Well, better get going. Will check back in later. Still praying for everyone on the prayer list. HAGD!
:o]

Good late afternoon, everyone.

Thank you, Steve. Stay cool. Thank you, Margy. You stay cool, also.

Shirley, so glad your mouth is not hurting this afternoon. Dental goddess heard our prayers. Sure hope when Kathryn's feeling better she will reinforce with Hunter that he needs to follow your directions. Difficult with young ones his age. Wish Hunter and his team good playing tonight.

Hoda, so nice you have some warmth. If you want more, I'll be happy to send a bunch along to you. Hot and humid here.

Wanda, sure hope GG can use her new get around get along chair with wheels. Also hope she has no repercussions from the tick. Let us know, please.

Happy birthday to Andrew. Y'all have fun at dinner tonight.

Hi Andy. No wonder cancer drugs are so expensive. We have some Vinca Major but don't think that's the same.

Hello to all I missed along the way today.

Okay, going to put my feet up and rest my eyes. Tired today for some reason.

Liesl and I had a short nap--in prep for the graduation festivities! LOL!! Sure hope she does well on her "exam" and passes!!

Everyone is SO busy! Even in with the A/C this humidity just saps me. I'm sure Jo and NC Suzan are the same way.

Judie said...

Lynn, forgot that Liesl will be graduating tonight. How fitting that her special day will be the same date as your grandparents anniversary date. She will do you proud!

Anyone got a good recipe for pan-cooked or oven baked salmon steak filets? Need to try that method because the grill is broken.

hedgie said...

I remember hearing about the exorbitant amount of plants, roots, barks, etc. involved in making many medicines......and many of them come from the rain forests---which are being destroyed for other reasons....making for shortage of raw materials. Bad news.....

hedgie said...

How about just broiling the salmon, Judie?? A little dill weed and lemon juice works well.

hedgie said...

Sorry it took so long to answer....been doing other things and just saw your post!

JudyEddy said...

Looks like new fresh thread after I went to work Thanks Steve for the fresh one

hedgie said...

Time to wrap it up here....see you all later this evening. Hope you see our eagles.....but as always, TEAM LIBERTY!

I've decided the dogs need a "room". This morning one of them ate my oldest son's check book and register. I was only out for an hour and it was in the middle of the island, so whoever did it really had to reach for it. We have a "laundry room" in the kitchen which we moved the washer and dryer out of years ago and is now a big dumping closet. I cleaned it out and took the door off and I think it's going to be their new home. I just need to go get a couple of dog beds.

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO ANDREW.
That is going to be a great
party in Charleston tonight!!!

Lolly it's getting closer, those Rocky Mt. Natl Park/Estes where you'll be camping, hiking, looking for birds, animals, and fun by the camp fire. Just remember
"It's Me Bear".

I was talking to the lady next door to me. Her boys play baseball. One is 10 the other
11 and they play those late hours too.

Yes Judie I think that is special. Liesl graduating the same day as Hedgie-Lynn's grandparents anniversary date. Memories (:

DanaMo found no money this this. Only eaten check with no amounts on them. UNLESS....
those dogs can write and went to the bank and cashed the checks....DanaMo poopie check
time again...kidding lol

JudyEddy said...

Children will get in to the dardest thing DANAMO lucky they can't write a check LOL

Judie said...

Sure hope the new home works out for the doggies. Wowser! Are you going to have a house warming party for them?

Thanks, Lynn. I may try that.

Back from errands.

Hunter's game for tonight has been called off. The other team forfeited. They were behind 5-0 and weren't going to be able to get enough players to play.

JudyEddy said...

Did they call you on the phone or did you go down there??

JudyEddy said...

Looks nice and dry at the nest this evening Always windy

Lolly said...

Home from the doctor. All is good! Nice to know that I am very healthy!!!

Leaving soon to meet Michael half way to get his camping gear. We are all getting so very excited. It has been years since we have vacationed with Michael and his family.

JudyEddy said...

Lolly I hope you have a blast and you better take lots of pictures to share which I'm sure you will and we can live vicariously through you pictures I love those kind of vacations

Lolly said...

Decided to go to my ol' standby avatar.

Lolly said...

Oh, I am sure I will be taking pictures, Judy. I want to get a group picture!

DanaMo said...

Yes, I took the door off, and I will use a baby gate. I don't have the room completely cleaned out yet, but I'm working on it. The gate will have to be something I can attach so they can push it out like they can with a pressure gate. And of course it has to be high enough too. A house warming party. Well I don't know about that, but the funny thing is Javalin is already lying down in the room!

DanaMo said...

Lolly, that sounds fun. I love vacationing with family. We almost always go with my parents and my brother's family.

Hoda said...

Well Hello everyone. Thank you Judy for the video link of the morning visit and of the African Eagle calls.

Wonderful picture of Hunter Stronghunter. I am glad you feel better today.

Lolly I like the team Liberty Avatar. wonderful to hear you actually had wet grass this morning over an inch I believe I read...GREAT.

Happy Andrew's Birthday Sharon.

CONGRADUATION Leisl and Bravo Mom, nap is a good idea before the excitement of grduation.

Well we made it to 75 degrees today and that is WONDERFUL by me. People were cheerful when I went uptown for Yoga, for the Wednesday Market and to volunteer at the Library. People wore shorts and were dancing in the street with the music from the Market activity, live bands on Market days.Tomorrow is the first of the evening Street Fests of the summer. They block off not only one block like today's market, but rather all of main street is closed to car traffic...a great deal of activity.

Made it to Lakeside Park and the beach was right there and it was very enjoyable to visit in the wonderful gardens and to walk with feet in the water on the beach. Water is still very cold but some young people were swimming. Many sail boats out today and also Kayaks.

All this in sandals and NO JACKET today...I feel GREAT.I am so very Grateful.

I actually had to water my herb garden and my flower pots today...

That is the neighbor who caused all the trouble before, not Rus.

Judie said...

Hoda, how lovely that you had such a nice day with fun activities. I love when communities block off streets for people to actually enjoy the sights and sounds without fear of cars.

JudyE, congratulations on the very substantial amount of money to be donated. Very, very impressive.

Shirley, sorry that Hunter's game was canceled. A win is a win but not the same as actually playing the the game. Hope he isn't too disappointed.

Shirley, the media (and perhaps many law enforcement agencies) will be around. The man has been connected to the gunshots of military facilities over the past several months (ballistics). Shouldn't be too problematic for Rus and Rebecca. No immediate threat now.

I think it is JudyE who needs to be concerned about invasive activities -- watch your pants lady.

stronghunter said...

Judie, Hunter is fine, and Kathryn is relieved. There is another game tomorrow night.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn was pretty concerned about the shooting at the Marine Corps museum. That is very near her work.

At Chelse4a office today, a small blue and whitish tummy bird zipped across the front porch. I think it was the Cerulean warbler. Only saw one once before at Park. They like treetops, guess that's why we don't see them! Here's a link for picture;

Good evening Eagle Lovers ! Had a good day with the boys, Seth and Malcolm. Sweetened with a phone call from a dear friend I'd been hoping to hear from ! Have skimmed through the days posts, enjoying videos, pics and words of wisdom.

MARGY, What a proud heritage you have in your parents and their love story. You're right about the tulips, arent' they lovely ? Wish tulip season lasted longer, but grateful for pics.

LYNN, I'm surprised the neighbors didn't come running when I had the Fish Eagle up, what a call ! So much fun to imagine Liesl accepting her diploma with pride. She was class Valedictorian, right ?

SHIRLEY, LOL, I got a kick out of your follow up to this post, "It was on the news tonight. They think he is the guy who was shooting at things around town--like the Pentagon and the Marine Corps Museum, etc." Thinking we might think Rus was the guy ! Too funny ! Hunter in full catcher regalia and with a million dollar smile---priceless !

LORETTA, the Cerulean Warbler is sooo beautiful ! I'm sure we all hope to see one someday.

JudyEddy said...

was lucky no temp Angie said something to the Dr about no temp and she States that Jordyn for ya

JudyEddy said...

hedgie said...

JudyE---what kind of hitchhikers did you have? Hopefully no fire ants!!!! I am VERY allergic to those baddies! Was it burrs??

Judie, how did the salmon turn out---how did you fix it??

DanaMo....those dogs are trying your patience, aren't they??!!! Hope they don't tear the new room apart!

Great donations all around. Our former sheriff who won a big lottery gave Parks and Rec 1.5M yesterday for a rec center in the southern end of the county!

Shirley....feel sorry for the kids whose coach/parents forfeited....doesn't seem quite right...but GO PADRES!!

Kay said...

AW, JUDYE, so sorry Jordyn has an ear infection---one of the most painful things a kid can have !rl. Good timing since you have the next two days off to pamper her. Kudoes to your store for raising such funds for Children's !

No doubt all our grandpas and great grandpas had stove pipe crimpers. Happy not to need them now ! Crimpers that is.

HODA, love your description of your beautiful, warm day and how you are delighting in it !☼♥

Thinking positive thoughts for The Southern Delegation as they travel. What a wonderful way to cap off Andrew's 22nd birthday !

hedgie said...

Hoda, glad you had such a lovely day! I'd love to set my feet in the sand and water right about now!

I have stove pipe, Kay, but wouldn't even begin to know what or how to crimp! I think it already IS crimped when I buy it!! Which I do need to do before fall.....at least one piece that goes into the chimney----it is quite rusted on that end.

Hoda said...

Thanks KAY I wished you had all been here so I could have shared this day with you.I think you would have enjoyed Nelson.

hedgie said...

Beautiful warbler, Loretta.....have never seen one.

Poor Jordyn. :( Hope she feels better tomorrow! I can sympathize. When Christie was 6 weeks old, I had a terrible bilateral ear infection---ended up having to have tubes in my ears....I was in so much pain that I was banging my head against the wall. AWFUL!

Lynne2 said...

evening all....so, a stove pipe crimper, huh? Hmmmm. Seems kinda small for that. But hey, who am I to know! I still can't find a picture of anything in that category that matches this thing.

hedgie said...

JudyE---rain there or here at nest? None that I know of now.

Kay said...

Oh, yeah, I've seen crimpers like those. In fact I'm sure I sold some when selling Stan's million and one tools.

Wow, LYNN, what a great donation for your Parks n' Rec. How big was that fellows jackpot ? Was it a State Lottery or Mega whatever ? "You can't win, if you don't play" they say, so I'll never be a winner. Living near and working in a gambling community for so long was all I needed to dissuade me. I saw gambling ruin many lives and marriages.:(

WVgal DANA, kick back and relax in that recliner, I'm about to do the same thing ! Reading about the family trip Lolly et al are about to take into gorgeous Estes Park makes me wonder about you. When are you heading for CO and where does your daughter live ? Eons ago my parents lived in Boulder and owned a doughnut biz. I loved vacationing there and going on delivery runs into Estes Park with my dad. Then, years later my husband and I had an apt. in downtown Denver, 40 floors up and with a breathtaking view. Update on Tori from momster email from Robyn....

Hello everyone,

This is the first chance I have to send anything out today. As of right now Tori is holding her own she is on oxygen and somehow got an infection in her lungs which put her condition in acute/chronic which is pretty bad. The way the doctors talk in ICU can make the biggest baddest man cry! Death this dying that I wanted to go running away but I eventually saw her doctors from pulmonology they made it all better but it was still hard listening to what is happening to Tori. We are hoping she improves even slightly by Friday as they were talking about inervating her which they also mentioned they may not be able to undo it. Tori may be in the hospital for a few weeks, hopefully out of ICU by next week sometime. I will add more later...

thank you for all your prayers and well wishes

Robyn

Hoda said...

Oh dear definitley PRAYERS for Robyn and Tori

Kay said...

Oh, LYNNE, thanks for posting ROBYN's message here. My heart aches for her and TORI. Will be praying and praying and praying. I've been in those ICU situations a few times and feel the staff gives the "worst possible case scenario", so there are no surprises, but it's hard to take !

Kay said...

LYNN, what does this mean:

"inervating her which they also mentioned they may not be able to undo it"

I'm so glad we have a medical professional among us ! ♥♥♥♥

Lynne2 said...

makes me feel bad for complaining about my stupid knees and back. Sure seems so unfair that she has to go through this.

hedgie said...

Well, Lynne, tools evolve over time.....you said the one in the pic was antique, right? And Frank has dealt with antiques for a long time....so.....

Lynne2 said...

I googled that Margy, but I don't really understand....

Lynne2 said...

oh Lynn, I am SO on board with that after looking at the modern versions....very very similar!! Tell Frank THANKS!!!!

hedgie said...

Kay, Margy can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think taking the lump sum option, he got about $45M. He's given a lot to public service (fire trucks, ambulances, etc.).

Hoda said...

Lynne 2 you mentioned a while back that they gave you yoga exercises to do for your knees, I think it was from Physio...would you be able to write more about that? Are they helping and what do you do?

Kay said...

LYNNE, you are talking to MARGY ? I don't "see" her here yet this evening. She's as invisible as my dog, Casper Whinebarker !

Kay said...

LYNN, wish all lottery winners were so generous. No one really needs 45M and it's good when won by someone without greed. I like that man !

stronghunter said...

Prayers for Robyn and Tori.

I have not read everything else, so I am confused about some thing going on.

Lynne2 said...

oh, Kay, isn't your other name Margy???? Oh dear....pain very bad tonight, had to take a Trammy. Clearly I shouldn't be typing under the influence.....LOL!

stronghunter said...

Kathryn has explained to Hunter that he should do what I say, but, as I said, a large part of it all is the fact that he likes to have a reason to question and argue.

Just hope he will use the "my mother won't let me do that" when it's peer pressure he is dealing with.

Kay said...

LOL, LYNNE. I get it now. You googled the medical term ROBYN used and didn't understand it, right ? I'm sure I wouldn't either, but also sure LYNN will be able to define it for us.

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lynne, I was hoping you would feel better tonight.

Lynne2 said...

Hi Hoda....well, the Dr that gave me the exercises to do is the VET where I work...he is from India, and they do lots of yoga. He said to lie on my back, legs straight. Bend one knee up towards my chest and rotate it a time or 2 in one direction, then the other direction. He said only to build up SLOWLY more reps.

Hoda said...

I thought this is so very graceful.
SWAN LAKE BALLET AS PERFORMED BY THE CHINESE

Lynne2 said...

oh Shirley, i was the SAME way! I analyzed EVERYTHING, and questioned everything. God help you!

YES KAY!!! That's exactly right....i read what it meant but I don't really understand how it relates to Tori. Hope Lynn can shed some light.

Kay said...

Adjourning to the TV room for a while. BBL if I don't doze off.....

hedgie said...

Oh, dear....poor Tori---and Robyn. By inervating, I believe she means using a paralytic--and probably putting her on a ventilator....will need to look it up. Scary for sure.....prayers continue.

Lynne, did news say whether any horses were injured in the Churchill Downs barns?

stronghunter said...

I do not understand the term Robyn used, either.

hedgie said...

Well, here's a technical definition:
the nervous excitation necessary for the maintenance of the life and functions of the various organs

Of course, I'm sure we are talking lungs, so not sure exactly what they are planning....

Lynne2 said...

Lynn, no word yet....

Weather

Lynne2 said...

HODA, that was BEAUTIFUL!! That is one flexible ballerina for sure!

That sounds like a very worrisome procedure Lynn......

Lynne2 said...

on TWC, they are saying there are reports of horses running loose.

hedgie said...

Oh, it's spelled with 2 n's.

Forgot to mention that the pool next door is gone. Bet the dummy didn't put down a sand base...and bet a rock tore into the bottom of the pool!!

I really got ticked off--followed him in this evening....he turned into driveway and his poor dog fell into the ditch because he never stopped to give her time to move. STUPID JERK.

Hope the salmon was good, Judie. One of my favorite foods. But Hunter does not like it. He has influenced what we eat around here.

stronghunter said...

They have several games, Judie. It depends on how many they win.

hedgie said...

Not having any luck finding out anything more about the innervation.......sorry!! I hope Robyn can give us more info.

what an ass he is Lynn....hope the good Lord sees fit to do unto him....Well, that's not a very Christian like thought is it.

stronghunter said...

On CNN--the Anthonys do not think their daughter is innocent.

Lynne2 said...

Live talk with spokesperson at CHD, as of right now, no horses or people found injured.

Lynne2 said...

I was just outside and I have to tell you....the Lightning Bugs are putting on an AMAZING show in the trees tonight!

stronghunter said...

Good, Lynne. Glad there were not injuries.

Lynne2 said...

wow. Can you imagine being a parent and having to admit something like that about your child? SO sad....

Lynne2 said...

at least so far Shirley! Hope it stays that way!

stronghunter said...

Tragic, Lynne. The whole thing is awful.

hedgie said...

Liesl is down for the night. She is going tobe really angry with mommy in the AM when she doesn't get any breakfast....:( have to be at the vet by 9, but surgery won't be until noonish...

stronghunter said...

That is the Anthony thing that is awful.

Lynne2 said...

I really have not been following it other than what I've scanned on here.

I did get to watch most of the OJ trial....and I had to admit, they surely were not able to prove "beyond a reasonable doubt" that he did it....although I think he did. Maybe he didn't intend for things to go the way the did when he went there, but never the less....

OH, and I got my JURY DUTY notice in the mail. UGH!!!! July 28.

Lynne2 said...

uh oh...poor hungry little Liesl. LOL!

hedgie said...

I have the CNN report on now....

PA Nana said...

Good evening everyone. Thought I'd stop by before everyone went to bed.

Lynne2 said...

Hi Diann! How are you feeling this evening? Take a walk outside and enjoy the lightning bug show....they are plenty and very active tonight!

PA Nana said...

Oh Lynne, jury duty. I knew it's a civic duty and if you go you will be very diplomatic in any decision you may have to make.

I was called twice for county but never saw a trial. Once for federal but had to get a medical excuse because I'm unable to sit or stand for long. I always wanted to sit on a jury, but I guess it was for the best.

Lynn, is Liesl dental work being done tomorrow? Poor puppy may not be able to eat much after for a while.

Hoda, sounds like you're getting better weather, though I would like yours instead of ours. ♫It's summer time, summer, summer time.♫

Shirley, love the picture of Hunter in his catcher gear. We miss those baseball games our kids used to play. I even base umpired our daughter's softball games. The good ole days.

Missed Judie, but hope she has a good night's sleep.

Think I'll go for my x-rays tomorrow. It's a walk-in facility and Jim will start his 7/12s Friday and I'd have to get myself there. I do have a regular doctor appointment Friday AM but it's only about 2 miles away. I'm sure I can make that short trip myself.

Must check email now. If I'm not back before you go to bed have a peaceful night and God bless.

stronghunter said...

Good evening, Diann. Hope you are well this evening.

PA Nana said...

Hey, Lynne! My knees and hip are killin' me, but I'm pretty good for the shape I'm in. ☺

Hopefully he got pic of her underwatwer w/turtle. She was doing charades trying to tell him to take a pic & finally he understood!Had a night dive & went up a volcano on motorcycle. She didn't like that much! They visited and went diving w/friends from TX who went there also. That couple just bought a condo there.

And, for Hunter...not exactly the way he might have dreamed about it, but, the team WAS LEADING 5-0 the first night, so it is Win for Sure ☺ Congratulations Hunter!
And his Family for helping HIM make the grade xo

Going to watch the local news to see what is going on in Rus's neighborhood this evening.

Lynne2 said...

OK Hoda, thanks! I need all the help I can get! It is NOT easy to do, and I see why he said only do a couple at first.

Been reading too how most people don't get enough fiber....while I've been eating better carbs and drinking lots of water, I have now added those Fiber One bars daily. They are pretty good! I'll get this dang weight off!

Lynne2 said...

I think the figure Hedgie gave earlier on our former sherrif's Powerball Take-Home, was about 45 million or maybe 48 or 49.
Reminds me think I will check my Wednesday numbers soon ☺

The television reporters are there. I do not know about the police. Fortunately, the criminal is in jail.

Hi, Everyone,
Getting here a little bit earlier tonight, in the hope that I won't miss everyone.

Heavy-duty prayers continue for Tori, and for Jordyn too. Saying prayers for everyone on the prayer list.

CONGRATULATIONS to Liesl the graduate!
Lynn, I bet you are so proud of her!
Prayers for Liesl for the dental work tomorrow.

DanaMO, hope the special room for the dogs does the trick. Isn't it amazing what dogs can and will eat?!

Well, I'm pretty tired tonight, so I'm checking to be sure the porch light is on, and enabling both security systems. Sleep well, everyone, and I'll be here tomorrow to chat, God willing. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]

I have often thought that it would be nice to win the Lottery. Of course, I would need to buy a ticket, and then I would need to figure out what to do with it next.

stronghunter said...

Gonna split soon.

magpie said...

Yes, Lynne, we have fun.
James definitely keeps me young at heart ♥

The anti-aphid treatment that I gave my TOMATOES last night, has left the plant looking rather peakid (how do you spell that ???)
Hope I didn't mess up

Oh, Yes, Lynne, One Hot Droll Tomato! ☺

I've always been able to avoid jury duty.... BECAUSE - in my line of work, we have had dealings one way or the other with most of the people on trial!

Lynne2 said...

I know what I would do! Make life easier for everyone I love!

Going to hit the hay....good night a prayers for you all!

I received a letter about jury duty once many years ago. At the time, I had two small children and was married to a lawyer. I filled out the form and returned it and never heard anything else.
