Hi, Everyone,
Seems like forever since I've been here--it was early yesterday! Not caught up on the blog at all, but wanted to do an update on the Honda situation. Hubby's brother used to work as a master mechanic for Toyota, but quit because he got really upset that they would replace whole transmissions or other whole systems in cars when there was just one small part of the system that needed replacement.
So, we called Aamco this morning, and talked to their manager. He was really nice, and totally confirmed the truth of what we remembered Hubby's brother had said. He quoted us about $1,500 labor to replace the WHOLE transmission, plus parts, but suspected that it might be a lot less than that. Might even be some kind of solenoid (can't remember the exact name), that when it goes south, changes the way the car shifts gears, and causes it to shift at the wrong time. We feel a lot better about the situation, and if Honda doesn't give us any satisfaction, we'll go to this guy at Aamco. Keep praying, because it's really working!!! Thanks so much!

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh--Aamco guy said that he had TWO people that had gotten huge dollar quotes from Honda (different dealership) that showed up at his Aamco within 5 minutes of each other, for second opinions. Both of those customers got cell phone calls from Honda while at Aamco. Bottom line: Honda salespersons wanting to know if they'd consider trading in their 'broken' cars for a new one! Woof!!! Shame on them!!

Judie said...

Shirley, don't want to belabor the issue with Susan (happy celebration to you all) but this is classic stalking behavior (trust me, I teach about this) and the police cannot do anything unless they have evidence.

Andy, sounds like good news about the car. Hope you get satisfaction from Honda. No one needs that aggravation.

Missed the games today, so far. GO SKINS! GO RAVENS!

Think tonight's cool weather is good for a taco salad made with warm chili. Off to the kitchen.

Judie

Ms Bookworm said...

BTW, quick weather report before I drag myself back to the school books: About 68 here, with a really cool wind blowing (guess it's about 20 mph). Blue sky with big puffy clouds. Overnight low expected to be down in the low
50s! It feels like heaven on earth to me!
Making good progress on the homework, so better not quit now. Will BBL to say goodnight! Sorry to talk so long, but important info to know--buyer beware!

hedgie said...

Andy, that has always been one of the beefs about dealer service departments. Thank goodness now for longer warranties---mine is 5 yrs/100,000 miles (GM) bumper-to-bumper coverage. And at my dealer, my annual state inspection is free as long as I own the vehicle. Hope they find that the problem is a cheaper fix!

deb said...

Lynn, I am a Twins fan, born and raised! They did win, so a one game playoff on Tuesday.

I am home from work, mostly a good day, two unsettling calls. One from a guy right in the middle of breaking up--lots of yelling, threats of police, etc. Why subject someone else to your problems?? Call when you can think about what you are doing.

Judie said...

Hi everyone,

Racoon party at PixPA. Bear gone from Snowman. Diego still on his own and wiggling around.

Andy, enjoy the cooler weather.

Congratulations on the Twins, Deb. The football team, of course. Glad you had a fairly quiet day.

Wonder how far Lolly, Gene, and Jacob got today? Sure hoping they have a fabulous time together.

Going to watch a bit of mindless t.v., followed by a brief tour of the critters, then will return here.

Mema Jo said...

Hey There! If Gene went with Lolly somebody is going to be in trouble with Jack and Wanda ! ROFLMBO Judie !

Mema Jo said...

hedgie said...

Okay, Jo--will do!

Poor Judie just got names mixed up---I've sure done that plenty of times!!

Judie said...

Well, just never you mind. I just hope LOLLY has a good time no matter WHO went with her!

Thanks, just turned on Masterpiece Mystery and see it's the former sidekick to Insp. Morse. I'll watch it.

Hi Crunch.

Critter cams quiet. Two die-hard party racoons is all I can find. Diego still home alone.

hedgie said...

Deb, i can root for your Twins since the Nationals sure aren't going to be in any playoffs!!! Time to take down my flag and replace it with Skins flag until time for the Halloween banner!
Can't believe that a cusotmer would have that kind of stuff going on while doing business. Argh!!

Mits said...

hi ya....went to O's game, they won...whoop-di-do...will be routing for Deb's team now:)

Mits said...

stopped by and had dinner with the M&M girls, lot of fun...they like Mary Poppins......so fun to see them dance and sing the songs...good night everyone, congrats on your teams that won:)

Good evening all. Tech came and fixed puter but made some changes and I am having trouble getting use to them. Will work it out.
So glad to know our girls like Mary Poppins. Gives me ideas. Going to have to get to the Disney store. Long day and this week is going to be busy. Soap and sandwich delivery tomorrow. So talk to you later. Pleasant dreams

Hi! We had a nice birthday celebration for Rus and Kathryn. Kathryn's actual birthday is Sept. 22--I had already told you about that. Rus's is Oct. 8. When they were in elementary school, I once had a joint party for them and swore I would never do it again. Boys went in his bedroom and locked the door and the girls tried to knock the door down. (They are 2 years apart.)

So I have waited until they are adults! Of course, when the twins came along, I got lots of experience with joint birthday parties anyway. Many were spent at McDonald's. I learned to take the easy route.

Taco salad and warm chili sounds wonderful. One of my favorite meals.

Andrea, I really hope you get the car problems worked out. I hope those people told the Honda salespeople that they don't want to trade-in, they want a fix. The last thing they would want is another car that might have the same problem. Hondas are supposed to be good cars. They should not have to trade in a broken Honda.

Happy that the Skins won. Did not have time to watch the game.

Kathryn came over and went shopping with Susan and me. She helped pick out the dinner and the cake. We ran into a former neighbor and good friend of my children--I call her my "other daughter," so we invited her, and she came over for cake and socializing. She grew up with my younger kids and is now a first grade teacher.

Judie, I have shared with Susan all of your concerns. I wish I could keep her here with me. In answer to someone's question, I have no reason to think this woman knows anything about where I live. It is 50 miles away, and Susan did not come straight here. She visited with friends first.

stronghunter said...

Gene might be at the costume shop!

Mema Jo said...

Just finished Mystery Theater - NOW there is another one coming on and since I am RETIRED - I'm staying up to watch it.......

Good Night to All of you who will not
be on here when I return! Prayers for all wants/needs! (((hugs)) ♥

Someone go find GENE! and JACK !

stronghunter said...

Maybe they are both at the costume shop.

stronghunter said...

Maybe they are up, up, and away on a hot-air balloon ride.

Judie said...

Well, I sure hope Gene is at the Costume Shop and NOT disguised as Jack!

Thanks, Shirley for the update. So happy it was a nice day.

Enjoyed Masterpiece Mystery. Did NOT see the Oedipus Rex twist coming.

I put the deadbolt on but hear the sandman trying to get in anyway. So noisy it almost sounds like a train. So turning my light out but leaving the night light on for others.

Until tomorrow,
Judie

I don't know whates going on here but the last post here was at 9:46.
I know that there have to be some after that time. When I do get posts on here I get 4 or 6 at one time. Don't know why it don't update when some one first bost it. ?????

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good evening all my eagle budlets. Did a little handiwork today, went for a walk, went to a meeting tonight. It has been a good day tater!

Costume Lady said...

Hey, has anyone seen GENE? He hasn't been at home all day!

stronghunter said...

Don't know, either, Bob.

Anonymous said...

nite all.

stronghunter said...

He will prpbably fly over your house in a hot-air balloon accompanied by Jack, Jacob, and Lolly! Get ready. Not exactly a road trip, but should be fun. I think they usually only fly in the daytime, but they make a lot of noise--all that roaring when they fire up the burners--so you should hear them coming.

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Crunch...if you see Gene, tell him it's time to come home:)

Costume Lady said...

Now, how did Gene get to New Mexico?

Costume Lady said...

Oh, I see...Judie kidnapped him and threw him into Lolly & Jack's trailer!
Well, I hope that balloon drops him off here before morning...I need his help in the shop!

stronghunter said...

Good night, Bob.

It's a mystery. Maybe he has been following the monarchs on their journey to Mexico and got sidetracked.

stronghunter said...

Yeah, let's blame it on Judie since she is on a date with the sandman.

stronghunter said...

Wanda, I think we might have confused poor Bob.

hedgie said...

Bob, many of us get wrapped up in our TV shows and blog sporadically during ads or in between shows!!! Sorry we made you feel left behind!!
Goodnight to all turning in. And good workday for those who must tomorrow.
Yep, Jo, retirement means we can stay up if we want to!!! BTW---you missed Cold Case!
Oh, Wanda...if Gene is with Lolly and Jack you know he's in good hands!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I do trust that Gene is not at the beach, right?

NatureNut said...

Sorry so late getting on----working on kitty pics to send out AND some A-V scan is running and hogtying 'puter!
WHAT??? GENE is missing????

Hey, Sharon---if he's at the beach we'll have to dunk him!!! We'll have to hire Helen to go back to OC!!!

Costume Lady said...

OH NO, SHARON, he wouldn't dare go to the beach without me and you!

Lynn is right...he would be in good hands with the Ellises and having a blast, no doubt:) He loves New Mexico.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Well, I just read the stinky article about stink bugs. Not much hope there.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And I bet Helen would make that trip for cheap! :)

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Will have to let Margy know I got comment #69 today! Thirteen more days and counting! YEAH!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!

Costume Lady said...

Ok, time for me to go outside and wait for that balloon to drop my WILD & CRAZY guy on my doorstep.

GOOD NIGHT
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL

I do hope that tomorrow, Ceil does not get SOAP to go with her SANDWICH;)

stronghunter said...

Good to know Gene is in good hands. Otherwise we would have to send the bloodhounds after him. Judie is our expert detective, and if she says he is headed to New Mexico, then, doggone it, that is where he is!

Gene would be amazed at all the gossip about him, now wouldn't he?

Bob, do not let this group confuse you. There are sometimes gaps in the conversation, and we do a lot of teasing and joking.

hedgie said...

Ha! If Gene is in NM, there's SAND even if there's no beach!
Yep, Shar---13 til Sat, and 12 til Fri.! To quote Mema Jo---Whoo Hoo!!

hedgie said...

Time for tubby. BBIALW.

stronghunter said...

BTW, just talked to Susan. She is safely home and locked in her apartment studying for her marketing class.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Thelma's screensaver is her pictures. Just saw one of Buddy sitting in the Captain's seat! Love that picture!

NatureNut said...

Pleasant Feather Dreams to all those hitting the hay~~~~~~and goodnight Gene & Jack, where ever you are!! ;>)

Oh Yes---RAAAA Skins, wasn't pretty, but they made it. Wonder if they'll get a record for most field goals!!!

stronghunter said...

A win is a win. Field goals, touchdowns, whatever. Just hope they can keep winning.

Good night. I can relax for the evening since I have now talked with Susan.

Picked up a trick from Kathryn and sometimes just check her Facebook page to see if she is posting, but she wasn't tonight, and did not answer my phone call. I thought she was probably busy with her studies, and it turned out that she was.

See you tomorrow.

stronghunter said...

Maybe Judie is with the sandman, and maybe she's on the hot air balloon with everyone else. It is getting crowded in that balloon basket . . . gondola, whatever you call it.

Good night again!

hedgie said...

Loretta, Skins only had one field goal this week! Missed a PAT, tho'. Bucc's had 2.

hedgie said...

Margy must have had a busy long evening, since she hasn't posted since getting off work at 6---she did say early this AM that it would be late...so hope she's having a good time!
I'm ready to hit the hay....see all my fine fowl friends tomorrow. Peace and prayers.

Mema Jo said...

I love all of you when you make me have a belly laugh !

Margy missed #69-how about those apples?

Boy no late night chatter - Lolly and Anne Marie are at the sand dunes...

Hi Folks, finally made it home, through my chores, watered my plants, got showered, and checked the posts. Checked Momsters album for any new pictures before I started reading posts, no Eagle pics, no Eagle mentions...sigh...

Sounds like a pretty good day otherwise in our Eagle Corners...

I skeedaddled up to Morgan County to see the grandson after work, so I got back too late to be sociable.
☺ ♥

Finland has been having some rough weather, looks like it might be clearing up some now.

magpie said...

Saw a creature that I think was a raccoon with the other raccoons at Pix Pa, but its tail had no stripes, mostly a black-tipped tail, and its mask was white instead of black...

magpie said...

Loved that full moon, and so did James! It's hiding behind clouds now - man oh man it's chilly out too.

I'm going to miss some of the early morning people, so Hi in advance to you

Sounds like some good visiting happened today...Mits and the M&M girls, Shirley and family, Mema Jo, Megan and Market...hope I have not missed too many others...pretty sleepy and tired right about now.

Rough waters at Finland, some white caps in the water.

Hope Gene made it home okay ☺

Good Night, God Bless Us, Every One

Good Morning, Everyone!
Fell asleep in front of the TV last night! Must've been 'plum wore out'! Feel almost claustrophobic today--my car is still at the dealership, and I'm without my wheels!
Please say prayers regarding the situation--Hubby is calling and talking to Honda. The corporate manager told him he needs to talk to the service manager at the dealership. (More buck passing.) He's going to talk to him shortly.
(Corporate guy said the reason they replace whole transmissions instead of individual parts is that "everyone is in a hurry and they don't want to wait for the time it takes." All I can think about is what they told us when we coughed up the big bucks for the 90,000 mile service on the car a few months ago. They said, "Now your car is good for another 90,000 miles!" It has 102,156 on it right now.

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, while I'm waiting to hear back from Hubby, I'd better get busy again with the homework. Have to catch up on the blog, too. Hope all is OK; have been praying for everyone's needs. Gonna try to catch up a bit, and will be back. Hope everyone has a good day today! TTFN... :o]
