Jim, I watched from 1:20AM on, and Lib was never at the nest during that time. He would usually show up in the morning before 7 or right around there.
A few times Belle looked up and around in a very alert way and I thought Lib was coming in, but she settled down quickly and went back to sleeping. I couldn't have the sound up because I was in the studio so I don't know if Lib called out to her, or if that's who or why she called out those few times.
"Stevie - Eaglet Momsters did not "start all the trouble". If anyone is to blame, it is us, then. We set the guidelines, so blame us. Thanks. 0 1 6:06PM, Mar 17, 2011 Outdoor Channel"
Back again. Still no Belle or Lib, I take it. Baby is going to get sun-burned and heat stroke. This is NOT good. Certainly can't take Belle this long to catch a fish.
Not sure how much longer I can watch, I remember the long absences at the Norfolk site a few years ago but has Lib ever be gone this long in the past? I can only think back to 2006 but I wasn't always watching and missed a few years (thank you school) sigh, I hope one of them get back with food and we hear about lib and all is well...
Maybe Paula call call Dr Sharpe at Catalina and ask if he knows someone here that could rescue Paddy if that turns out to be the case. Just so we're prepared and have her best interests in mind.
Well, we KNOW neither is in the tree.....but JOHN: do you see them flying around???? I really don't think we have seen Lib in the nest since around noon yesterday.
Paula, I never did hear from Randy...wonder if he's away, too??
Okay, someone is back.....think it's Belle. No food in sight.....do you think she was out looking for Lib???? Shook her foot----maybe she did bring back something. Move over, Belle!
Hedgie I live about 8-10 miles from nest same road but I wouldn't know where to look the area is huge and the river isn't easy to access except by the dams
Randy just emailed me back...he was out looking too, and couldn't spot either in their usual hangouts. I told him we hadn't seen Lib since noon yesterday.
You sound so much like me Sharon I too have found acceptance for the situation not exactly peace but I surely can not change it. God and i have also had a very long talk today. Dex has had and will have many many a hug. Its all I know to do right now.
Robyn, I'm back at the Morgan County line. WOuld take me forever to get ready and get there. Wanda probably knows the campus better than I do, anyway, cause I can't walk around so haven't explored it.
Usually just watching the sky at the nest area reveals a wide flying range.......
Good that Randy is looking....hope he continues. And John, too.
Someone asked about Loretta's eagle....she doesn't go back to the park until Sat. and had an apptmt. this morning....think she said she would try calling a maint. guy to see if he has seen anything.
Lori, that is Mr. Tubs chilling near my heatsinks(sp) lol gettng his fur inside too most likely, he likes the heat it emits, we have one other also plus 2 dogs
Hedgie, unfortunately how it came across is that you didn't want people to know about us; but I know it's because you didn't want them to come here and be nasty on the blog. Personally, I don't want that either!
Well Lib I don't know where you are or how you are. I want to think you are out finding the best fish in the river but its so unlike you. You would be such a site for sore eyes right now. God I pray for whatever it is lib needs right now. Please provide it for him. I must trust that you hear and answer. Amen
No cams for me. Haven't had the cams on for quite some time. Yes i can read and not watch. Have done it many times. Not going to watch until something settles down.
Maybe another eagle has answered her call. I hope this eagle has not harmed Lib if that is not him just dealing with ma's where have you been stuff right now.
Hi Pattio its just so so hard here right now. Welcome. Glad you came over here. Not a good time to leave friends alone and yet so so hard to stick with it all.
Well Donnie I saw some pretty shocking stuff when I used to watch several nests real closely. Maine and Norfolk both have dealt with intruders and the intruder is NOT kind. Still do not watch Maine anymore and Norfolk seems to have settled down with no deaths but it was pretty tough there for a while indeed. Had lots more folks to give info on which eagles were where doing what up there though.
It was the females at Norfolk I remember that one for sure. I honestly don't remember about Maine BUT Dad ended up with the injured talon IF they were actually sexed correctly. Since they aren't banded etc it would have been a guess but like here had lots of folks who kind of got to know one from the other.
W/volume all the way up, can hear chick chirping & Belle put her beak to it twice, but no food? and I read at NBG that eagles do not regurgitate & they don't chew. Just swallow bits of food.????
Lib may well have been out defending the nest and would not bring wushi in because that would also attrack intruders and thieves. Wow this has sure been a dramatic couple days. And Belle is gone again.
Not happy about her leaving but I am sure she knows what she is doing. Did anyone hear another eagle in the background when Belle had the intruder in the nest?
Hi, Gang, Sissy, I think you may be right. Looks like there may be a pip in the second egg. Gosh, we certainly are having a lot of drama at the nest today! Hope Belle hurries back to little POJ!
I was going to go in the garden and clean up but this is way more interesting the the leaves and weeds from last year!.. Ill sit here until she comes back...
Well sounds like our wee one is definitely strong enough for food now. I surely hope some comes in there very soon. I know she has had nourishment from the yolk sac to tide her over some. I have no clue how long she can go without being fed. Does anyone here really know the answer to that?
Floragirl, I have a photo of the intruder showing the marks on the head, but I have no idea how to post it here. I can send it directly to you if you'd like. (Newby Bob)
Okay, I have to go get Mattie. I am praying for a miracle while I am gone! I have email on my Blackberry so I will keep up with you all on there. Love and hugs my friends, love and hugs!!
Paula What is Hancock forum's purpose in calling. Are they going to help in some way long distance with a contact or something?
I don't think Belle can raise this one or them alone yet they are far too young and weak. Its so sad to process. she probably would not let anyone close enough to get it/them either or might get injured trying to protect. FOOD for Belle nearby which is not popular is about the only thing I can think of and I can already hear the responses. Actually I have seen and read them all over the years.
It does however confuse me how there is no debate about helping an injured even juvie eagle BUT there is debate about helping one who has not fledged. BUDDY from Norfolk being the exception.
Well, I'm a bit encouraged that Belle is parked on the chick and egg #2. She seems to be very alert, and is looking around a lot. Well, HAVE to get some more homework finished! Will be checking back as often as possible, and will keep the sound maxed at the live cam. Praying for a good outcome!
hedgie, Thanks. I gather by "create a blog" means to set up a profile for myself. I'll do that; probably tomorrow before I can fool around with it. Hopefully that will also allow me to create a name to use here to distinguish from any other "Bobs".
With the marks on his head at first it seemed to be a rush judgement that it was an injured Lib.. Intruder has those marks on head, is darker than "light Lib" and his white tail fathers are much shorter than Lib's and more squared off like Belle's tail feathers. He was very, very calm.
Bad bird, bad bird whatcha gonna do whatcha gonna do? When they come after you? Bad bird bad bird whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do whatcha gonna do when they come after you?
Bob, there hasn't been any food brought in since noonish yesterday that we are away of. We thought maybe Belle brought something when she returned earlier, but she hasn't touched it, and it's not recognizable, so.........
I don't know if I will go for lobster tonight.I've lost my appetite again. This is so disturbing and I called Park this AM & heard they have not seen both adults at nest. I was told to wait a couple days before sending Glo's info, but in secrecy, I did send it to Mnt. Mgr. If Dad's are not around, I think time is of the essence for food.
Actually, yesterday, don't think food was brought in, either----Lib just took his turn roosting and Belle took off for her own. Nothing was brought to feed her through the afternoon/evening/night/this morning.

Jim: I hear a hum now, too, when I turn it up higher. I don't hear the breeze or the chick. I don't usually have the sound on anyway though.
Lib is always the perfect provider, so something has definitely happened. Just hoping it isn't anything too serious.
They are probably in the river area, whatever has happened. That's where the meals come from.
Paddy is OK for quite a while. She has the youl sack to feed on and she looks very strong thus far.

Should have typed "yolk sac(K?).
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
It is currently 55° here---might be a couple degrees cooler by the river. Sun is quite warm.
Paula, are you okay...have heard you.
I sure wish Lib and Belle would return...
Oh, NO joy.....WHY did OC give them our address???? And we don't WANT their name comments/arguments here. JMHO!
Have not heard you Paula.
Jo, Margy, Lolly, Wanda, Lynne, Hedgie - you guys okay?
BWE is feeding chicks now.

belle has been gone for almost an hour now, and I haven't seen Lib since yesterday or the day before. i wasn't watching the whole time
someone named John posted that he works at NCTC and does not see either eagle in the tree.
Maybe Paula call call Dr Sharpe at Catalina and ask if he knows someone here that could rescue Paddy if that turns out to be the case. Just so we're prepared and have her best interests in mind.
Loretta may know someone.
i work at NCTC and the parents are not up in the tree at the moment

I assume that's JohnNCTC who has posted on here before
Looked back over blog and
BELLE LEFT NEST AT 12:30
(((((group))))) I know we all need one of these right now. I don't know what else to say or do. Thanks for passing along John's info Paula
Lori: They will not intervene. Whatever happens, happens.
Well, we KNOW neither is in the tree.....but JOHN: do you see them flying around???? I really don't think we have seen Lib in the nest since around noon yesterday.
Paula, I never did hear from Randy...wonder if he's away, too??
Eagle back!!!!
She's back!
Thanks Delphia for posting about John's comment
Momma's home! Does she have food? Yes she does!!
That's Belle
Paula, that's Belle, right?
Robyn, Wanda is close......
Okay, someone is back.....think it's Belle. No food in sight.....do you think she was out looking for Lib???? Shook her foot----maybe she did bring back something. Move over, Belle!
Back and no food
YAY! Which one is it, Belle?
No food? Thought I saw something but now I don't. OMG!!
Can't tell whether it's something edible she brought in, or just junk in the nest that her talon disturbed.
Maybe she has food in her crop.....
iT'S Belle alright; she brought something, but I'm not sure it's food.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
It's Belle.
Wiggle, wiggle.....settled in.
L-I-B-E-R-T-Y!!!!!! Come home now please! Pretty please??????
Not sure if that's food or not...
Gotta go for awhile...
It sure looks like something but what...
Liberty, where are you?!?!?
Well, I had to go for a walk. Couldn't stand it anymore. Talked to God and prayed to St. Anthony! God is in charge!
Belle sure is looking for him...
Think we can all use a breather.
Robyn, I love your cat avatar. I have some kitties (5 cats) myself!
Belle was gone exactly 1 hour!
She's watching something, I wonder what. Looks like she's trying to catch a few winks, too!
Paula, anything I can do to help you out? I'm not far from you.
I hear voices by the nest, that must be food also, looking at the pics taken earlier it wasn't there before
You sound so much like me Sharon I too have found acceptance for the situation not exactly peace but I surely can not change it.
I think Belle looks very perturbed....she is watching for him.
Lori, that is Mr. Tubs chilling near my heatsinks(sp) lol gettng his fur inside too most likely, he likes the heat it emits, we have one other also plus 2 dogs
My post here made it to OC, I see. Oh, well.......like I said, JMHO!!! I didn't say they weren't welcome...just that we didn't need the arguments!
I can come up and search - Paula want to go to WV?
I'll call now and take tomorrow off we can drive up now and organize a search party.
You're the boss, Paula. That's a good think meant in a good way.
I'll do anything to find him.
Amen
Belle is calling out!!!
YAYAYAYAYAYA!!
LIB is back
Wow both of them now!! That is great!
YAY!!! LIb has decided to return
He's got hole marks on his head.
Thank GOD.....Lib is back!!!! Whew. And she's giving him H!!!!!
HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK!!!!
Whatis that on his head? Is he hurt? Or is it dirt...
Top of his head looks like there's a wound......??????????
What is that on his head? It is Liberty isn't it?
Wonder what that dark spot on his head is?
Tears OMG oh Lib welcome welcome welcome. Sigh. OK now what.
I don't think that's Lib!!!
She is mantling food, right?
Me too glo, had to dry the eyes to make sure I saw what I did
She's not even letting him get close!
Wow did any of you see that? Bell not happy!!!
Are we sure that's Liberty?
Are we sure this is LIB?????
Belle is acting strange. Lib was out with the boys and got in a bar fight and she is letting him have it!
No food was brought ... how can we tell if that's Lib? Belle doesn't seem please it's there - whoever it is.
OK sounds like more drama indeed. I don't know how much more I can stand to be honest.
I have to leave for therapy.
I do not like the looks of things at the nest.
BBL
ooh, I don't think that is Liberty!
O thank goodness. Hope all is well. Still odd.... Been watching WHEW!!!!!
Poor Lib must have had a really rough 24 + hrs.
His head looks scruffed u a bit... is it Lib?
Looks like a possible injury to Lib's head alright. But did he bring a fish?? Belle was over there so fast I couldn't see if he brought anything.
TG they are both alive and apparently fit.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
OMG, I CAN'T STAND IT! I really think that is an intruder.
Those do not look like Lib's tail feathers, and Lib has a straighter line of white around his collar, not a 'v' like this one has.
I "think" it's Lib, but he is looking around as though he has been fighting a challenger.
Is that why Belle is trying to drive him out .. he's a challenger, or is it that she wants him to get some food??
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
He is gone anyone ever seen Belle act like that to Liberty?
I'm pretty sure that was a younger male...not Liberty with dirty feathers...
Whats all this noise over here? i cant get any work done with this sqwaking!
Little one peeking out from under mom's chest! How cute!
That is probably why she was making a fuss, noticed the intruder? Paula? This is one of the reasons I had to stop watching. I hope lib is OK
Well, it's gone - whoever it was. No food. I really don't think that was Lib. :( (Hi Glo - PattiO here).
Just got home from dentist & what is Belle squealing about? If that's Lib w/black spots on head,
She lunged at him twice!
She is not happy at all ! Sombody better order some take out sushi QUICK !
She wasn't mantling food....she was protecting the eaglet and warning him away!
Jim and Glo - THANK YOU.
Both of you always offer great insight and information. ♥
So he left..........hopefully to get food now that he knows there's a mouth to feed.
Hi Pattio its just so so hard here right now. Welcome. Glad you came over here. Not a good time to leave friends alone and yet so so hard to stick with it all.
Would one male kill another male over terratory?
Does anyone know how many eagles we have in this area?
I don't think that that was Lib! Belle was acting like it wasn't Lib......calling and trying to "attack" and blocking the egg cut but not sitting...
Donnie: It is possible, yes.
I am almost positive it was not Liberty.
I don't have sound--did she just call for Lib again?
Usually it's the females that fight .. at least that's what I've read.
I think it was or is a male challenger at least attempting to take over the territory.
Not sure if it is still going on, but they are both scanning the skies as though expecting another male to attack.
Whether it was Lib or not, there is still another male in the area, and alive.
Hopefully it was Lib and he's gone to get lunch.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
PJ rocking back and forth what is Belle doing?
That was pretty streight forward... he was not welcome at this time... Now some sun on chicky!
It was the females at Norfolk I remember that one for sure. I honestly don't remember about Maine BUT Dad ended up with the injured talon IF they were actually sexed correctly. Since they aren't banded etc it would have been a guess but like here had lots of folks who kind of got to know one from the other.
Belle is up .. giving the chick a few droplets of water. It looks good - head up, looking around.
Wow. Just catching up. Was the intruder a one time visitor or has there been multiple attempts? Belle sure looks like she is on alert.
Love watching her feed the little one!
I wasn't at my computer and didn't see anything. Just read your comments. An intruder could be the reason we have not seen Lib.
Is the other egg hatching? Can't tell. I am about to flip, gonna have to walk away for a while!
And can't walk away!
I have some goldfish in a tank in the front room I'll donate. Oh thats right .... the guards will laugh at me again if I go over there!
Never Mind...
brave.. move there Belle...
W/volume all the way up, can hear chick chirping & Belle put her beak to it twice, but no food? and I read at NBG that eagles do not regurgitate & they don't chew. Just swallow bits of food.????
Oh my Where did Belle go?
Patricia, there is no "usually" on the challenges. It just depends on which sex is trying to take over the territory.
The only "rule" is that males always defend against male intruders, and females always defend against females.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Lib may well have been out defending the nest and would not bring wushi in because that would also attrack intruders and thieves. Wow this has sure been a dramatic couple days. And Belle is gone again.
Belle is gone again
Not happy about her leaving but I am sure she knows what she is doing. Did anyone hear another eagle in the background when Belle had the intruder in the nest?
I am so glad I have an appointment at 3 I need to get away this is too much today
Hi, Gang,
Sissy, I think you may be right. Looks like there may be a pip in the second egg. Gosh, we certainly are having a lot of drama at the nest today! Hope Belle hurries back to little POJ!
At least the sun is warm on the little guy.
This can't be good. Did she have to go get food because Lib hasn't delivered? Isn't it really strange to leave a chick unattended at this age?
Paddy looks so grown already!
POJ trying so hard to look up and see--
With a possible intruder in the area, it makes me nervous to have POJ unattended! Hurry back, Belle!
I was going to go in the garden and clean up but this is way more interesting the the leaves and weeds from last year!.. Ill sit here until she comes back...
Okay I'd better go get something useful done....have a great day everyone!
Off to a meeting. Will check back later but I am worried.
She's back!
Belle back and calling out
This situation is worst then any darn soap opera. What the heck have I come back to.... chaos for sure.
Thank you Belle---Glad you are back!
Well sounds like our wee one is definitely strong enough for food now. I surely hope some comes in there very soon. I know she has had nourishment from the yolk sac to tide her over some. I have no clue how long she can go without being fed. Does anyone here really know the answer to that?
Darn, what have I missed... any picture of the other eagle that came into the nest?
A gal from the Hancock forum has a call into NCTC
Not so good here MeMa Jo Hope you enjoyed your lunch.
As the Nest turns has gotten pretty scary and somewhat sadly dramatic.
Belle, thank goodness you are here but
where can that Lib be? If you saw an
intruder - dear Lord only knows where
Lib is - sorry to say.
I am going to cry.
I couldn't think enough to get a pic, but I am sure it was not Lib.
Bob, there seems to be a male challenger to the territory; we aren't sure which one has prevailed yet.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
Well MeMa Jo you will not be crying alone. I think you have a lot of company. (((((MeMa Jo)))))
Glo, the first PH chick went 3 days without food.
I have frozen fish ...
Floragirl, I have a photo of the intruder showing the marks on the head, but I have no idea how to post it here. I can send it directly to you if you'd like. (Newby Bob)
I'm bringing my fishing pole this wkend and wkd be happy to make a contribution.
John is postin on the OD
I'll call my neighbor to mgo fr a walk down river. i'll see if i can see anybody else hanging around!
I don't know if this will come thru right but here is a short clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCofS9F5PpE
Someone tell Bob how to share that with us here, I gotta run out.
And thank you, newby Bob! welcome:)
OK, I need to get going, I hope Lib returns home with or without food, belle can alwys get some if he stays in nest right?
I will try and get this blog onto my droid to keep up
Okay, I have to go get Mattie.

Great Pic
Eagle looked like it went up into the tree
Belle gone again??!!!
Thanks for that info about the PH chick Paula That makes me feel some better. We have some time here to put the pieces together for our family
Bob send it to me
I just posted link from Lori of the pic with the intruder (spot on head)
About 2 years ago we had an intruder
and I really think spot was on the head then.. Anyone remember?
It really was a female so we thought.
Back again. No food. Nestling in.
Belle is now incubating the chick & Egg
Great YouTube, newby Bob. TY!
Here it is as a link:
???Lib or Intruder???
Oops...sorry, kittenface, not Bob!
Bob, put your photo on your blog....click on your name and create blog if you haven't already.
Paula, you should have the photo.
Kittenface that video was a fantastic coverage of the Intruder!
Link to Intruder Video
Thank you kittenface for the video, and Jo for digging up the pic. That wasn't Lib.
Put 2 pics on Blog--one of bird w/spots ? . Will put in album later.
HUGS from Illinois! Mixed emotions today!
Just viewed the intruder video, and that was definitely NOT Lib! Where IS Lib? I am praying with all my might for him! Sure hope he turns up soon! :o[
Jo....I have never seen that site! I copied the pic and put it on my blog.
hedgie, Thanks. I gather by "create a blog" means to set up a profile for myself. I'll do that; probably tomorrow before I can fool around with it. Hopefully that will also allow me to create a name to use here to distinguish from any other "Bobs".
HUGS from Illinois! Mixed emotions today!
I absolutely MUST get more homework done. Will BBL...
Lynn, thanks for the pic. That is NOT Lib!
If that's food in the nest, she has to make sure the nest is safe, first and foremost
Up again and gone
With the marks on his head at first it seemed to be a rush judgement that it was an injured Lib..
Intruder has those marks on head, is darker than "light Lib" and his white tail fathers are much shorter than Lib's and more squared off like Belle's tail feathers. He was very, very calm.
I was able to do a SnipIt of Belle fighting off Lib/Intruder....it's on my blog, too.
Off she goes again.
As Bob Marley would say to our Intruder:
Bad bird, bad bird whatcha gonna do whatcha gonna do?
When they come after you? Bad bird bad bird whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do whatcha gonna do when they come after you?
Lynn, You have a fantastic varity of great pictures from today! Thanks
Jo, I like your style, girl.

Back and calling out big time.
The intruder is back....
There's no question about that episode; that's an intruder she is defending against.
C(°ٿ°)D Jim
When was the last time food was brought in?
Okay, Jo...must have missed that they had changed from Maine to Wildlife!
Thanks, Jo....did have to copy the intruder stuff from Wildlife and kittenface's YouTube. I was in such shock at the time I couldn't grab it!!!
So the question still remains, since our pros day it wasn't Lib....WHERE IS LIB??????
Bob - there hasn't been any food brought today. No sign of Lib.
Belle looking up & calling out again
Bob, that dark thing behind Belle might be food, we're not sure. If it is, she brought it in. She can't feed the chick till the nest is safe.
Bob, there hasn't been any food brought in since noonish yesterday that we are away of. We thought maybe Belle brought something when she returned earlier, but she hasn't touched it, and it's not recognizable, so.........

What does the high pitch chirpy call she just did mean? versus the long squeal we've been hearing mostly...
