Good morning! Well, guess what!! We have more than one armadillo. Our back yard was plowed up last night. More hunting tonight!
Proud of myself. We were up early and at the church over an hour ago to water the prayer garden. It was completely in the shade from the rising sun. Fantastic! Pulled a few weeds and watered. Came back home to coffee and reading the paper.
Our church is used by the school district for the preschool for teachers children. Today must have been their first day back for inservice. giggle giggle NOT ME!!!! (My apologies to Shirley and all teachers who are not retired!) giggle giggle
Shirley, loved your invite to your kids and their responses! Too funny!
Morning all! Great pics from Loretta and Shirley. Jim, don't you just love the pink nest box downunder?? Andy, so glad your ankle is doing so much better.
Prepare to be amazed: (after the stupid advertising!)
Lynn, that was amazing! No fair a little girl singing like that and I can not even carry a tune in a bucket!! My Mother could sing and she had curly hair. She shared NOTHNG with me!!!!!!
Jim, that's like the migrant workers (mostly from Jamaica) who came here for apple picking...they invited my FIL for a BBQ'd groundhog dinner....and he really liked it!!
If I had a voice like little Miss Evancho I would not be worrying with the bills. What a bright future ahead of her.
Funny blog this morning.
Eewwiie? I was trying to say that. When I saw the suggestion about an armadillo BBQ, eewwiie seems appropriate. Would you serve armadillo in the shell?
Belle and Lib will start serious nestorations in a couple of months. There is supposed to be cam work this week, maybe.....and we asked that turtle shells be retrieved for Jo...so maybe that has happened when no one was looking! You will notice, BEagle, that sound is off, by design as they switch to something better.
Good very late morning..... I have read it all and got my morning chuckles. Lynn that last quote is great. I am out the door to get my new 'do'. I have to keep up with Lolly and Judie!

Beagle, about the WE nest. "Maybe" it's because they had to build a new nest early this season ... old one slid off the rock, and they did not get it built back up to the former level. It was level with the stone on the left, if you recall.
So, maybe they have an extra motivation to add on. However, while they all restore and build their nests, they don't all do it at exactly the same times or in exactly the same ways.
Yes, Eeuuwies are vultures technically, but out West here, Ma'am, we call 'em 'Buzzards', and we don't sing about no Bison roaming the range neither, believe you me!
What range, Jim???? Didn't think you had any! LOL! Thanks for explaining eewwies to BEagle,Paula and Jim. I was off doing other things. Shirley----bet that little girl made Hunter sit up and take notice besides just the voice---she's lovely!
Well, that's good news at SD, Jim. You did know that they are returning two to China soon, didn't you? They will be going off display on the 16th to go into "training" for the transition. :(
Back in and going to stay in. Read all comments and read some to Jack. Jack says "Well what I am preparing is fermented armadillo and they are welcome to some if they want it." Sorry about that!!
I must say I am enjoying my new do!!! Won't make the mistake of letting my hair get that long again.
Need to call up our little singer again and let Jack see her. He is an opera fan.
Forgot to tell y'all that I heard the Cuckoo this morning when I let the dog out. It was only do 5-7 sounds per round, but it was the same sound. And, as before, I don't know whether it just flits around quickly or if there are several, becaquse the calls were coming from different directions.
The final necropsy report on Phoenix has been posted. It WAS the aspergillus fumigata fungus=Acute Aspergillosis. Prelude to the report says: Please note that this report may not be published to forums, websites, Facebook or other formats....... so if you aren't on FB with a link to the Hornby site, guess you could try www.ournaturezone.com and then search for "What Happened to Phoenix Part II" (today's date) if you want to read the full report.
Thanks for the Phoenix update. I just checked last night so I would have missed it for a week or two.
I kept thinking, at the time when Phoenix fell asleep, they should fell that old tree that holds the nest. It's dead and decaying and is a danger to man and bird.
A minister friend of mine from way back, loved to go squirrel hunting. I didn't know he went squirrel hunting one day. When I sat down to dinner with his family that night he said we would have Homemade chicken pot pie. Yummy!!!
It was SQUIRREL POT PIE!!! He didn't lie, he did put some chicken in there too. I could taste that squirrel all night. Bleccchhh.
BEagle, Lynn sent an email to momsters about learning two new words from a crossword. One was nisus -- endeavor or effort. I learned two new words today, as well. So, think I should put this in my syllabus for students who might need to grasp the concept of nisus. Also might be a good word to use with some of my doctors.
ROFL-BEagle, you can pronounce it any way you want, but my pronunciation rhymes with Dewey! I only sent the words to our two active upper-school teachers!!! Paula, I figured I better not press my luck with an official link! Just typed addy, and figured I was safe from any plagiarism. Thanks! BEagle, I was forced by ex and friends to try frog legs---mind you, toads, and even some frogs, have been pets for me since I was 12---and I really don't know how it tasted. I could not get past the first nibble due to a psychological roadblock!!
Well, you can imagine my road block to frog legs! OMG!! No way Jose!!!! I am a person who loves eating and am NOT a picky eater, but NO WAY when it comes to frog legs and armadillo!!!!
Which reminds me...I need to get to the grocery store! LOL

Whoa! Splitsville!!
Lolly, sorry for the armadillo, but glad for your yard, I know how hard ya'll work on it.
Shirley, the pool sounds like a good idea today!
Forgot about that split, too!

10 y.o. on AGT
No, thank you, Jim!!!!!
Do not think I could do that. It was
VERY unpleasant shooting it. I think there is a reason I have not gone "hunting" with Jack before.
ROFL, Jim
A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go, Hi Ho the Dairy-O, a hunting we will go.
Get out that BBQ sauce!
Oh, gross, Paula!!!!!

Love the humor this morning.
I watched the WE a short while last night. The adults were doing some serious nestorations with some really big sticks.
But it made me wonder, why don't the other nest adults do the same?
Lib and Belle are doing a little when you catch them in the morning, but that's it!
Going to check on the pink nest to see what's going on.
Have a nice day.
Looks like the WV nest has lost a turtle shell. Or maybe it's just covered up with new fluff.
Once again....have a nice day!
Good Dennis the Menace truism for all you wonderful gardeners: "Gardening is just an excuse for grown-ups to play in the dirt."
BEagle, good that you got your laugh for the morning!!! If I'm not mistaken, that's what we call turkey vultures.......am I right, gang???
Yes, that child is unbelievable!!! SHe will surely become a major opera star if she pursues that career path. What I wouldn't give......

I got 2 for 1 published comment....
Go figure ....
Amazing little girl. Hunter and I agree about that.
On my way out the door.
Didn't get your gist about the turkey vultures.
Would you care to elucidate?
BBL.
Eewwies are turkey vultures!

The cam is back up at San Diego.
And I see they changed the site format back; they have the list of Pandas/cameras again, so you can tell who is who.

Well, I'm checkin out for a while at least. Got to do many things today.

Well, Hunter just finished off my ice cream. The kid likes ice cream. I think he's eating too fast, though. He just got a brain freeze.
Hunter's eyes got very big when he saw that little girl.

Report on Phoenix
Thanks, Paula. That was very interesting.
OHHHHHH. Now I know what an eewwiie is!
Too funny! I thought Paula hit the wrong keys. : D
How do you pronounce that?
ewe wee? That's what I would say if someone served me armadillo...or even squirrel.
Thanks Jim for the nest update. I didn't start watching the WE nest until this season.
I remember Paula saying the eaglets tore it up last year. I didn't know it slid away too.
Thanks for the Phoenix update. I just checked last night so I would have missed it for a week or two.
I kept thinking, at the time when Phoenix fell asleep, they should fell that old tree that holds the nest. It's dead and decaying and is a danger to man and bird.
A fresh newer tree! Doesn't that sound good?
Here I am back and oh so cutiful! NOT!
I do not plan to go down the armadillo trail with you all. Yuk and double yuk.
Need to get busy on my nisus.
Have not heard anything from dr. about blood test results. Hope to today.
BBL
Before I ever ate a frog leg, people raved about them. They said, "They taste just like chicken.
I went to a popular buffet in TN that served frog legs and decided to check it out.
When they brought the frog legs out, they looked like chicken. I picked one up and took a little bite, and it tasted like chicken.
Then I decided to put it to the test. I removed all the breading and stuff that makes it taste like chicken. All I can say is eewwiie.
It tasted reptilian to me! Blecccchhh.
Swampy. That's what it tasted like....SWAMPY.
A minister friend of mine from way back, loved to go squirrel hunting.

Judie? What's a nisus?
BEagle - Turkey vultures...so ugly only a mother could love one...so we used to say eeeewwiee! Spell it any way you want!
rofl..I need to check the web to see if I can find a baby eewwiie to "make it live."
I hear heavy thunder in my neighborhood.
It is hotter than....

I've returned from hair cut and other errands. I feel 1 lbs thinner with this short hair!
Meeting Alexis for dinner and so I am
putting my feet up for a little while.

LOL Jo, I feel the same way! I feel much lighter!!!!!☺
I think it's time for a haircut so I can join the lightweights.
The thunder keeps threatening but no wet yet.
I will send it your way; the rain not the thunder, of course.
However, keep in mind that I will not send ALL of it.
New thread. Y'll come.
I mean y'all come.
I am on my way!
Sometimes I gag on eggs. I think because of the sweet pictures of sweet furry little chicks.
I don't have too much trouble with buffalo.
