Earlier I was sitting on the step watching the hummers here. Such ornery little birds. There were 7 all fighting for one feeder. I will miss them leave. They are great garden companions.
Good evening busy momsters! So many activities to pay attention to tonight. Got home in time to see the Skins tie up the game! The Christian Rock concert was great!! Not what a Presby is used to, but very uplifing and fun. I was very proud of my former-almost-SIL---excellent musician and writer, and a very devout man. We ate dinner at one of our little local restaurants and had yummy gyros before we went to the church. sorry I messed up the link. Trying again!
So sorry to hear that Jake didn't make it, Andy. Judie, glad you and Frank are home, and even tho' stents were needed, glad there was no open heart planned. Wow....sure hope countdown continues to go well......don't know why Wanda and the Capt. forgot to pick us up to go to Mits' place!
Deb, poor Janie has to start being more careful. She's never going to want to come back to SD again! Gabby is going to end up being an educational bird, I fear. Boohoo.
Hedgie - you did wear your sneakers to the concert Didn't you! I thought you were really going to like it - they are quite popular and seem to draw the younger group in also.
Ok...just finished reading the evening comments and the picture that I have in my mind is, Lynn wearing a Tie-Dyed T-Shirt, a mini skirt and very high heels. LOL
Lynn, do you remember the name of the group at the concert? We have had a Christian Rock Group perform at our church several times. They used to come in cars and vans, now they come in a HUGE, very fancy Motor Home!
Good Friday evening eagle budlets. I am home from the Beaver-Graham game where Beaver beat Graham 48-6. Blow out for sure. I am now waiting on Andrew and Kelsey to finish eating with their friends at Applebees. Then they are picking me and Mattie up and we are heading to Charleston tonight. Way too late for my butt to be out but I plan on sleeping on the way! It was so good to see my baby boy and get a good hug!
Hi, Jo...we had fried chicken, potato salad and cole slaw. GeeGee had a glass of red wine and my girls had an unknown wine. Gene had an eagle talon (kidding) and I had a Mountain Mama. Dustin had anything he could get his hands on!LOL
Hi, Sharon...glad you got your hug. Felt good didn't it? I get to see my girls every Friday evening and feels like it's been a month since I last got their hugs:)
Well, darn it, I hate to leave a party early, but I am up way past my bedtime two nites in a row, and I gotta get up early tomorrow. Hope the launch goes off without a hitch. Taking my heels off and heading to bed. Nite all:)
Oh, well, game is over. 27-24, Pats. But we still did well, from what I heard, in the first half, and some good experience for some young guys. My satellite has gone out thru' my DVR completely, and on the other receiver I'm not getting all stations...argh!!! Like NASA.....will have to watch it on puter!
Wanda, local group---Doug Farris and Company. He was Carolyn's serious BF in high school and even pre-engaged! Didn't work out...but he's a grwat guy. Just recently returned to area from Fredericksburg. (He is also n Allstate Ins. rep.) IBC Singers also performed and a guy from First Baptist of Mtbg. named ? Frattolio.
Just finished my ice cream. Should have taken a picture of Annie, my cat. She loves ice cream and she always knows if I am eating it. She comes and sits on the sofa and stares at me. LOL
Deb, don't you think that Gabby is really faking all this stuff? He wants to stay with you guys. He knows a good thing when he sees it:) Poor Janie, sounds like she needs a vacation.
Love Shirley's idea of an automatic night light and a password activated key pad;)
No, that's not the group that I was thinking of. Fratteroli (sp) is the name of the preacher at that church. When they answer their phone, the say something like, PRAISE THE LORD this is the FRATTEROLI'S:)
Hope everyone is doing OK..watching the launch, I presume. Gonna read a little of the blog, then head to bed. Heading to Mom's in the morning. Catch ya'll on Sunday.
What are we watching for...the spacecraft flying by or the launch or both? I tried NASA TV and it told me I wasn't welcome there, just their employees:(
Margy, hope you had a fun evening. will have my ears on tomorrow! G'night Paula and Ceil! Yep, Shirley, I'm pretty green at Facebook, too. Bet you are glad that this week is over, especially with such a sad day today. :(
Margy, we have been having cook-outs at GeeGee's on Friday's instead of going out. It's so noisy in the restaurant and GeeGee can't hear us talking and it was making her very sad. So we sit around the table at her house and can eat and talk and not worry about disturbing anyone. We can get pretty rowdy sometimes...you know!
Much too cloudy here to even have a chance if the leaves weren't in the way! Eastern sky, south to north...when they say 900 downrange is when we need to start looking, except maybe 800 for Mits!! Probably 6-700 for Candy!! Next one I think is in Oct. If it's nighttime maybe we'll have better luck! Sharon, have fun,, dear girl! Paula, don't work too hard this weekend. Good night, fowl friends!! See you on the morrow.
I looked, skies barely clear, wasn't sure what to look for, and didn't see anything.... Just happy to have seen the launch. Did see Jupiter, and a few constellations, including the Northern Cross, and somewhere embedded in there is my little "magpie star."
Will check the most recent posted blue links Saturday...sure I will enjoy them then.
Wanda, sorry my NASA link gave you a problem...I don't have fancy TV channels so this is the only way I can watch these things.
Good Night...Prayers for all, for wellness, comfort, strength...
8/29/09: We've seen Braveheart and the male adult with a fish at the same time, which makes us think Braveheart is catching her own now. We would also expect that our female adult has finally left for migration.
Good morning! Another gray, gloomy day here, so far. How is everyone doing? Need to read through comments still! Have some bummer news.....only 5 shuttle launches left before the program ends...and last night was the last nighttime launch sscheduled. :(
Yep, Ceil, a bi-coastal split on the lottery. Did you all notice that Margy closed us out last night and opened us this am??? Raining in Boston....lots of important people there for Mass.
Lynn, they had said that before, about last nightime launch scheduled, about a year ago. But, I guess you just have to wait and see....I really would like to get down there for a launch before the program ends. 129 goes up sometime in November.
Sargent Shriver sure looks feeble--he has Alzheimers. And Geo. H.W. Bush's health too poor for him to attend....hadn't heard anything about that before----guess no more parachute jumps for him.
Getting on to say Good Morning!! Then going to accomplish a few things today. Feeling good....it was 68 this morning. Wahoo!!! Fall is a comin!!!!
HOWEVER...I have been a cussin this morn. Dang armadillo had a thrill last night diggin up my lawn as well as some plants. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Jack says he will go hunting tonight. BANG!
We are leaving the 15th to go back to the beach for several days. This time going to take some books. Won't be building sand castles, just long walks and lots of reading. I'll miss my young companions and sand castle building, but will enjoy sitting on the beach reading.
I am getting busy...feeling energized!! Have a great Saturday!
Lolly, each time I read about your battles with the armadillos, I remember my childrens' adventures at Disney World. They have always said that the most fun they had there was chasing armadillos on the golf course at night.
The older kids were teenagers then, and Rus was old enough to drive a golf cart by Disney rules, so they all got in a rented golf cart and used it to chase the armadillos. Being from Virginia, we have not had experience with the critters.
Don't know if the Disney cops would have approved, but I hope the armadillos were kept so busy that they weren't able to do damage that night.
Good Late Morning All! MT nests in WV & Finney and MT den - who got the panda cub! Very calm out today. I need to read comments - see what all is going on!
You know what Jo, I don't think anyone in the US could do more for others with those winnings than we Momsters! I really believe if any one of us won, we would do a WORLD of good for so many. We are in the position to know the needs of hundreds of people.
Alexis said when asked about her morning pre-K class as to how was it... Wonderful That was her dad, my gs & Mike's son with her at the bus. Robert's mom has daycare and that was Sherry who went to the door of the bus. The other mema & pap live on the same street and they walked down at bus time! Other child was a day care little one - looked like she was going right along with Alexis.
Morning, Lolly,Jo, Wanda and Shirley! Speaking of the dang armadillos---when mom lived in FL she had one who denned under her pation concrete slab. Exterminator had to do a lot of digging to get it out...thank goodness it hadn't completely undermined the slab! But it did enjoy digging up the plantings that rimmed it.
Sorry - I took a break when hubby came in from his morning run! Mits - It is only on Facebook - Sherry put it there - Well her sister Aunt Susan took it. I'll try to get it and send you an email.
Boy, wouldn't I have fun with a golf cart and a gun on a golf course. Wahooooo!!! And, I am not a hunter and I do not like guns!!! Jack is not a hunter either, and he does not not guns. However, he does have a shot gun...will hunt armadillos!! Will travel around the house tonight. He has 4 holes that we know of. One goes under the house slab foundation, another big one goes under a railroad tie in the garden.
Have cleaned windows. Now going to dust. Would love to be watching the dolphins!
On to dusting! Jack is out working in his shop...the house is mine.
Wanda, got a costume catalog in the mail. Thought of you. Would love to bring the boys in to find a costume!
Good morning/afternoon, eagle bloggers! I'm dragging in here after going straight to sleep when I got home last night. (Well, not STRAIGHT to sleep--took a detour thru a Mickey-D's for a soft-serve ice cream first!) That was in honor of your 'Launch party'! I was just burned out when I got home. This is going to be quite a class! We got 4 big thick print-outs of medical terms, outlines, and such, and a questionnaire about anatomy for homework. We had a 1-hour video to watch in class, and a 1-1/2 hour lecture with accompanying slide presentation. There's a quiz every week, a mid-term exam, and a final exam. Also a project that teams of 2 are to work on, about a disease or something (like diabetes, high blood pressure, ALS, PMS, whatever you want. You have to give a 15 minute speech in front of the class about your project.... I think I'm gonna LIKE this class, though! That's the crazy part.
...Maybe I spent too much time in the hot sun yesterday! We found out that the weekly quizzes will be strictly on the lectures/slide presentations and discussions in class. That means I need to learn some kind of shorthand for taking notes, 'cause the teacher talks a mile a minute! Very hard to understand with his accent. I've figured out that he actually SPEAKS in shorthand! He talks so fast he actually leaves words OUT of his sentences! Gotta have the nerve to tell him to SLOW DOWN OR REPEAT!!! He's pretty cool, so I think he'd not mind. Might have to audit his Friday DAYTIME class to take notes, then go to Friday NIGHTTIME class to put finishing touches on notes! The classes are supposed to be identical presentations, so it might work.
From what I can see very quickly of last night's comments, you guys had a pretty good time! That's great! Shirley, using some information that I learned in class last night, I have a humble suggestion about your AWESOME idea regarding a keypad instead of the key under mat. Let's install a scanner to scan our eyes, and then we'd be right up to current techy standards! It's the wave of the future for us! What do you ladies & gents think? We wouldn't have to remember any passwords that way. If we have a senior moment, it won't matter!
Andy, you are going to be so medically educated that you could be a professional!! Go girl! I know why you like the class---despite the overwhelming part---it's because you are a go-getter, with a thirst for challenges and knowledge!! Does sound like audit the day-class could be helpful. What kind of accent does he have??? You deserved that soft-serve for sure last night!
BTW---your suggestions for the freezer odor were good ones, thanks...but it is beyond hope! They are shopping for a new one today. It was quite old...a hand-me-down from someone at church.
Thanks, Lynn, The teacher is an education in himself! I am not sure what country he's from, but he has what sounds like a Filipino accent. He speaks SO FAST, though that unless you pick up what he's saying psychicly, you don't get it until you've mulled it over in your head for a couple of minutes. I worked with several Filipino people at the newspaper, so the accent sounds familiar, but the FAST is killing me! The guy is a real inspiration though, considering his life story. I'll have to put something on the Momsters group e-mail. If I do it here, I'll be hogging too much space. Glad your daughter is getting a new freezer--does their insurance cover it? Not trying to be nosy, but didn't know whether they'd thought of it.
Shirley, Another idea (you're starting a whole train of thought in my head!)--in order to be "green" and use less power, we could install a motion-detector porch light here!
BTW, we found that on certain kitchen cupboards, we needed kiddie latches to keep the Siamese out! LOL

PS: Love Megan's shoes. Are these the ones you wear for gardening???
that is how she aerates the garden, walking around in those shoes
Was watching Redskins, but so bad, Fubby changed channel to truck races! :>(
We split before I saw Lolly say that she was successful in deleting the comment.
Megan digs into the dry earth with those spikes and can't leave until
she waters the dirt into mud!
Ok, now I have this picture of Megan working in her gardens in those shoes. LOL
Loretta the Redskins tied the game right before half time
I think I would break my neck wearing them:)After all, I fell down the steps in work boots...
Okay, I was confused, but I think I have figured it out. The mysterious comment was on Lolly's blog. I went looking through the comments.
ROFLMBO
BTW how is your wrists these days?
There's our guys Mike & Tim
Whoa looks as thought Tim has his
hair down!
I mean I went through the messages on this general part of the blog.
It's still a little stiff, but feels much better.
Shirley it was under Hawkwood Garden blog on Lolly's...... Right where that beautiful Hummingbird feeder is by the kitchen window!
Earlier I was sitting on the step watching the hummers here. Such ornery little birds. There were 7 all fighting for one feeder. I will miss them leave. They are great garden companions.
Wonderful hummingbird picture, Lolly. I have tried to photograph a hummingbird, but those little guys are so fast.
Harper Arrives in USA
So sorry to hear that Jake didn't make it, Andy.
Judie, glad you and Frank are home, and even tho' stents were needed, glad there was no open heart planned.

Eating cake, Jo! Come and get it...
Deb, poor Janie has to start being more careful. She's never going to want to come back to SD again!
Gabby is going to end up being an educational bird, I fear. Boohoo.
A couple of times, I've had them buzz by my head. I could hear the wings whirring, but I couldn't move fast enough to get the picture.
Who's Mike and TIm, Jo? And where are they???
Loretta, tell Frank NOT to give up so easily.....we just intercepted!!
I have another feeder on the patio. While we sit there the hummers fly through chasing each other like dive bombers!
I enjoy the little feeder in the kitchen window as it brings them up so close.
THose shoes that Megan has showing are the ones she wanted me to wear to the concert!! NOT ME! I'm too much of a klutz.
Mike & Tim were sitting at Mission Contol.... They'll be back on once the
suttle guys finish.
TOUCHDOWN!!! Tied again.
There is a video of Alexis aka Meatball catching the school bus on FB.
I have never worn shoes like that. Tall enough as it is. My daughter in law wears shoes like that, though. Crazy!
Ok, Jo...now I know who you mean! They are good, aren't they?
Scroll down the HOME page - Her Aunt SueSue Murray posted it.
Then there is a photo... He dad is with her........
Fun video, Jo. She was so excited to be getting on that bus.
That is really cute, Jo. She got so excited when the bus was pulling up.
Hedgie - you did wear your sneakers to the concert Didn't you!

Oh. Okay. I will look there.
You all are making my head spin tonight. You are bouncing all over the Internet and all over the television programs.
Hi Wanda - What was your feast this Friday evening?
Everyone have their Mega Million for tonight -- $333 million! WHoo HOo! I think chn 2 shows the drawing right before the 11 o'clock news.
Well I just put my jammies on! Party or not!
Hi Sharon! Glad your evening is going really well. Congrats Beavers!
Hi, Jo...we had fried chicken, potato salad and cole slaw. GeeGee had a glass of red wine and my girls had an unknown wine. Gene had an eagle talon (kidding) and I had a Mountain Mama. Dustin had anything he could get his hands on!LOL

Going to find sweet little Alexis, aka Meatball.
Wanda - we are having the NASA
Explorer Launch party. Was suppose to be at Mit's condo but we didn't make it!
I thought Capt Eagle was picking us all up to go to Mits. I have been waiting outside (in my jammies) but the Eagle Express never appeared.
Guess I will go eat ice cream. Comfort food!
Well, darn it, I hate to leave a party early, but I am up way past my bedtime two nites in a row, and I gotta get up early tomorrow. Hope the launch goes off without a hitch. Taking my heels off and heading to bed. Nite all:)
Megan good night. O's won. 13 to 4.That is not a mistake.

Found the video, Jo. Precious.
I don't think I knew about the party...I have been in Costume World for this past week.
Megan, I hope you find your other shoe before you have to go the Market;)
Alexis was so excited to get on that bus. I wonder how the rest of her day went?
Wanda, local group---Doug Farris and Company. He was Carolyn's serious BF in high school and even pre-engaged! Didn't work out...but he's a grwat guy. Just recently returned to area from Fredericksburg. (He is also n Allstate Ins. rep.) IBC Singers also performed and a guy from First Baptist of Mtbg. named ? Frattolio.
Just finished my ice cream. Should have taken a picture of Annie, my cat. She loves ice cream and she always knows if I am eating it. She comes and sits on the sofa and stares at me. LOL
When asked about her 1st day she said
WONDERFUL
Jo, love the video.....but you aren't showing up on my FB...I had to go search for you!!! I accepted you as a friend a few days ago.
I bet you let Annie lick that empty bowl! Those stares are so
intimidating!
Deb, don't you think that Gabby is really faking all this stuff? He wants to stay with you guys. He knows a good thing when he sees it:) Poor Janie, sounds like she needs a vacation.
Love Shirley's idea of an automatic night light and a password activated key pad;)
Lynn you are on my friends list.
I thought I accepted your invite.
Do it again???
Wanda - Lynn - Shirley - Lolly
Would one of you tell me how to save
the comment I make without opening another comment box ??
Yeah, Jo, I did. I know, it does not sound good, but she is so cute. The dish goes in the dishwasher and gets really clean!
No, that's not the group that I was thinking of. Fratteroli (sp) is the name of the preacher at that church. When they answer their phone, the say something like, PRAISE THE LORD this is the FRATTEROLI'S:)
Jo, I am not understanding your request.
I don't think it can be done, Jo. Maybe others know.
Yepper It is a beautiful night for a launch !!

Have a good weekend, Paula. Nite!
I am going to say good night and peaceful dreams. Going to watch the launch if my head doesn't hid the keyboard.
Jo, I am a novice at Facebook.
I thought this blog was interesting because it describes the effect of lead on bald eagles and how they are treated
Blog on lead poisoned eagle
If your head hits the keyboard Ceil you might type cryptic messages like Thelma did the other night ☺
Good Night....
I'm going to watch the launch, just checked the skies, overcast here :(
Wonder if I can nap during dayshift Saturday...
Prayers for safe launch and mission.

Have a good week-end Paula ♥
Please don't work too hard...

What restaurants, Wanda and Hedgie ?
What are we watching for...the spacecraft flying by or the launch or both? I tried NASA TV and it told me I wasn't welcome there, just their employees:(
Margy, hope you had a fun evening. will have my ears on tomorrow!
G'night Paula and Ceil!
Yep, Shirley, I'm pretty green at Facebook, too. Bet you are glad that this week is over, especially with such a sad day today. :(
What do you mean "What restaurant" Margy?
Fantastic, they can say Godspeed !
It depends on what the meaning of is, is;)
I was just wondering where you guys ate, or did you cook at GeeGee?

going to watch launch and head to bed, raining here:)...so good night everyone, prayers for all.
Same here Helen, I have to clock in at 0600 for a 12-hour shift...
Gonna do nothing but watch now...
Prayers for these fine astronauts.
Very interesting article, Paula....sad, too. Wishing her all the luck in the world.
Okay Wanda, I remember your telling us that...sounds wonderful...!
Sounds like great fun, Wanda!
Thanks for the link. I am watching it now too! Still not heading to Charleston yet.

Lovely launch!!! Perfection! Sorry we weren't all together!
Watched the launch. Went outside to see if we could see anything, but were not successful. Just got mosquito bites.
Wanted to show you what my Suzi has been up to. I posted some picures of her Hawaii trip, including what she saw from the shark cage (cringe).
Good night all.
God bless.
Nite all! Shirley, I loved snorkeling in Hawaii, but I sure would not go down in a shark cage. Scary!
Docking with the space station Sunday night. Should be interesting.
I too am going to call it a night. Really do not like sitting here talking to myself.
Auto night light is on...and remember you just need your code to get in.
Whoops! Forgot!
Sweet dreams!

So Danny didn't cause too much trouble

Just hope that people stay out of the way.
BWO update....
8/29/09:
We've seen Braveheart and the male adult with a fish at the same time, which makes us think Braveheart is catching her own now. We would also expect that our female adult has finally left for migration.
Good morning all. Yep two people one the mega millions. I had tickets but it wasn't me. One in Bronz NY and one in San Gabriel CA
Gee, Mits....feel a road trip coming om to Cape Canaveral!
hey, I'm ready when you are:)
off to sit outside for awhile...bbl
Too wet to sit out here, for sure!!! Where's the sun???
BBL
I need to read comments - see what all is going on!
either Bai took the cub out to the outer den, or maybe it is getting its first exam:)
lots of dancing dolphins this a.m.:)
Perhaps the storm stirs up the waters for the dolphins! Beautiful sight I'm sure.. really peaceful feeling watching them.
I can see Bai is there now - but camera is too close to see much except her backside!
Can't believe that I might be # 564 !!!
I am #565...Wahoo...do I win prize? Oh, Yah, prize money is gone:(
You're right, Wanda ! We missed the lotto! :<(
If I recall correctly, ZZ was examined and weighed on Thursdays. Maybe this little one will have it's day on Saturdays. Not real cute yet:)
You know what Jo, I don't think anyone in the US could do more for others with those winnings than we Momsters! I really believe if any one of us won, we would do a WORLD of good for so many. We are in the position to know the needs of hundreds of people.
Jo, I loved the video of Alexis. That was just too precious. Who all was there to see her off and how did the rest of her day go?
Taking a break from my HALLOWEEN WORLD and going to see if Mr. Groundhog is trapped.
Alexis said when asked about her morning pre-K class as to how was it...
Wonderful
That was her dad, my gs & Mike's son with her at the bus. Robert's mom has daycare and that was Sherry who went to the door of the bus. The other mema & pap live on the same street and they walked down at bus time! Other child was a day care little one - looked like she was going right along with Alexis.
so you can only see this on FB, Jo?
Morning, Lolly,Jo, Wanda and Shirley!
Speaking of the dang armadillos---when mom lived in FL she had one who denned under her pation concrete slab. Exterminator had to do a lot of digging to get it out...thank goodness it hadn't completely undermined the slab! But it did enjoy digging up the plantings that rimmed it.
Wanda, hope you are kidding when you say that Bai's cub isn't cute enough yet!!!! :) :)
Hello Lynn.
Glad that we do not have to deal with armadillos here.
Going to take a break. Might even take a panda nap.
BBL
Most of the bulbs I lose are eaten by ground moles. They travel underground and you can see the mole hills!
Need to find food.......
BBL
Jo, I have had trouble with moles, too, but this year I haven't seen a single tunnel mound!!! Yippee!!
Kathryn and Hunter have arrived, and we're going out to lunch. Kathryn is still ready to chase armadillos with a golf cart.
Thanks, Lynn,
The teacher is an education in himself!
Shirley,
Another idea (you're starting a whole train of thought in my head!)--in order to be "green" and use less power, we could install a motion-detector porch light here!
BTW, we found that on certain kitchen cupboards, we needed kiddie latches to keep the Siamese out! LOL
Oops--gotta run! Hubby's threatening to leave without me. It's TOO hot here, and we're looking for someplace with A/C. Back later!
Hi Eagleland Friends...
