Good Very Late Morning I had to clean up my disc space before I could get up/running! It is ok if JOHN climbs the tree & gets the buried turtle shells for me. Maybe some will be laying on the ground next to the solar unit -
I need to go read previous thread Thanks Steve for keeping us updated!
MORNIN' JO!---I bet JOHN would climb the tree & get your turtle shell if you ask!!-----I don't think PAULA can climb up to the nest!!!---Not saying she wouldn't try!!!! ho!
Yes, I had only sent out the Dinner Guest list to those attending & I have been communicating the plans with them on personal emails. Trying now to get the menu set up.
Norma, Happy to hear you will be taking the train ride. If you have the list I did check those that were taking the train.
Reports of Deshar's location are slowly coming in, and as of last night, he was still flying, but he had reversed direction and was flying N. at a reduced altitude.
I hope he either finds the Azores or the African coast before it's too late.
Nethy is casually progressing through France and should be OK.
JimThank you for information on Deshar. Sounds like maybe he found a resting place. We can HOPE ( : Netty is going right direction and stopping for refreshments I think....
Tuesday, September 30 There is cause for celebration as Zoo Atlanta’s giant panda cub turns one month old today!
Thirty days ago, a tiny cub was born to a comparatively large mother. A mother, whose great paws with formidable claws gently cradle his small body as he sleeps, and whose heavy muzzle guides his diminutive head to her broad chest to nurse.
It has been a month of joyous moments mixed with some concerns, and countless rewards sprinkled with a few frustrations. But such juxtapositions are what one might expect from this species which seems to be a portrait in contrasts – from its distinctive black and white coloration to an herbivorous diet at which other carnivores would turn up their noses.
The cub will be weighed daily in the late afternoon or evening from now on. So, his most recent weight will be available in tomorrow’s update. Debbie Forde Coordinator, Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Program Curatorial Assistant
Hello again!! (Gonna cut the phone cord here! SSHH) Tried to catch up -hopeful news from Jim on Deshar. I couldn't understand why he would go all the way to S. AM???, when if he could go a little E & S, he'd head for Africa.(unless wind currents are a factor.) See that the stinkbugs some are having trouble with is the BM variety. We have normal little ones that don't come in the house & never had one squirt near me!
This AM, 4 Snow Geese were spotted in our large field area (close to River) w/about 50 Canadas. I saw some a year ago at my other office. They aren't usually in this area. Guess they just stopped by!
I have been to Blackwater several times. Before I was interested in eagles. Loved to see this time of the year thousands of geese and the deer. First time my son was about 6 or 7 my dad took us. My son will be 44 on December so that was a long time ago.
Red, I drive past the cut off to Blackwater every time I go to the condo at the beach, but usually cannot take the extra time to visit, it is about 25 mins out of my way
I've been there several times RED, hubby and I stopped there last January, during a sleet storm on our way back home.....I just have never been to their open house....hubby and I used to drive there in the fall when we were dating....and to see and here all the geese....believe me my whole life is stopping and smelling the roses:)....that is why I never get the crap stuff that I have to do done;)
I had a gaggle of geese fly over this afternoon....making lots of noise, but couldn't get a good enough view to judge what kind they were. Honk, honk!! And Topper Shutt just showed a pic sent in by a Charlestown resident of a flyover there. Boo..sure sign that winter is on the way.
tha't ok, our 22 year old rookie QB is getting some good practice, and this was his 1st away game, because the Houston game got postponed due to the Hurricane.... I did not watch it, as I was watching HGTV and Boston Legal...22 years old, imagine, I have coats older than that:)
Checking in once again. Blood work-good and I have a NEW KNEE! WAHOO...LOOK OUT NCTC, HERE I COME!! Excuse my pun, but I feel like dancing (on air, to be safe). LOL
I can't remember why Norma likes the Cowboys over the Skins. That would be like wanting MARSHALL to win over MORGANTOWN MOUNTAINEERS!! I'm sure she has her reasons. Bless her heart.
Just heard where there is now a Pet Food Pantry in the metro area, so that folks who are struggling can feed their pets, too...so much better than seeing them given to shelters when there are hard times.
I need to catch up on posts yet and take some aspirin. We saw quite a few osprey, one eagle, about 5 great blues and lost of kingfishers. I am downloading the pictures now. The eagle looked like a first year, but will have to check pictures.
Way to go, Deb!! Bet it was fun! This non-swimmer would never have the nerve to do it. When I was doing phone coaching for a wellness program w/ state employees, I had a client who had lost 200#...when she got to 250# she bought her own kayak as a gift to herself, and was greatly enjoying the sport. She did have some difficulty with the "fit" and was then told that she would have to buy another one if she dropped another 50-75#. Probably makes buying new clothes look cheap!
LYNN, that is a good question...I have no idea what they put into my knee. Doctor Reyna gave me the injection and said I have quite a bit of calcium in my knee. I said "How do you know" and he said his needle was sliding around in it. EEEEWWWWW!
Wanda-sounds like it really helped. I've had to watch a doctor (Dr. Rob-Bev and Sharon) put a big 'ole needle in my knee. I don't know how I would be now but back then I was young and dumb and it looked worse than it felt. :)
Nooooo,I didn't watch. I watched my Mom get her knee done and it looks a whole lot worse than it feels. It look as if he had a screwdriver in her knee and was wiggling it all around in there and there was a large hole when he pulled the needle out. So, no, I looked at the diseased heart on the wall. LOL
I think you would be alright, there are all different kinds of kayaks. There are even some you just sit on top of!! You have the whole world to look at in a kayak and it is so peaceful. On top of that it is so easy to do, easier than canoeing.
No-I'm not going to be at the open house. I've decided I'd better stay home this time. I know I'm going to miss everyone. Hope to get some great pictures.
THELMA, my knee feels really wonderful right now and it may be partially because it is still numb, but I think this is a super-good shot...I just walked up and down the stairs and haven't been able to do that for a long time. Oh, and I forgot...I lost 3 pounds. It has been extremely hard for me to get this weight off because I can't exercise anymor. But, I feel like maybe I can now. We'll see! Going to vacuum the shop and I will be ready for customers in the morning. BBL
Well, I guess I will get dressed. I would rather not but I have to go out and it might be frowned if I wear my work clothes (Robe and slippers!!). It's a bummer but what the heck...
Glad to "see" everyone this evening. I've got to skedaddle-do some chores, get some dinner. Thunder boomers are here. I love the smell, the feel and the sound of the rain-not in the extremes of course.
Just finished dinner.. Lots more comments then when I left for blood work.. Took my panda nap - heard it raining with some thunder. Now I need to come in here and get Ceil out of the corner if she is still there and to check out our Dancing Fool! WHoo Hoo! ... lol
the geese are coming early this year. They usuall come in November and stay until March. I sat out on the patio this morning and could hear them over head.
Going over to check 20 new emails.. Hope they are all beautiful eagle pictures.
I see you found a wetbag for your camera, Deb. Can't wait to see the pics. You saw quite a variety of wildlife & how about those Mink! Were they black, brownish or silver?
I leave the morning of the 9th. Diana is taking me to the airport at 5:00am. then she is going back to bed.. Its her day off and she still has to get up. Sorry.....Bill and I will have a week to goof off before we head to your area.
thanks Robyn. His mom and dad are going to Puerto Rico and its business so no children. His mom cant go on a cruise because of the motion so I am thinking about it for next spring.
Robyn - Norma and I are suppose to be saving dollars to go there. Mits is coming too and she found us lodging in a beautiful fully equipment A frame cabin!! Chef included!!
hubby and I were just talking about Alaska....that is one of the first trips, we want to take, well, maybe, I want to take when he retires......he was supposed to retire today, but firm wanted him to stay longer, so hopefully this time next year.....I think I hear thunder...going to check radar
Jo, as soon as I get done dancing, and Gene gets home, I will corner him for a menu choice and email it to you. Sorry we are last minute, we have been sooo busy. Me with the shop and Gene is putting in a new furnace before cold weather gets here...and then there was the weekend trip. Excuses, excuses. ((Hugs))
That sounds enticing Jo. I was hoping on going to Oregon and Washington next year but my friend is moving back to San Diego. I do have friends in Oregon that have been bugging me to visit for over a decade lol
MY friends Dave and Bonnie lived in Hillsboro back in the 90's but had a house built somewhere out in the country. NY daughter was there a few years ago with her dad and loved it.
Jo, you are so right. We should be thankful that we can do the tasks at hand. Did you get your FLU SHOT?? It is especially important this time of year (Oct.) when planning on being with a bunch of people (as at the Open House).
Remember, gals, and guys, too...it can take up to 2 mos. for your flu shot to "kick in" so that's why they start giving it in Oct. Actual flu season doesn't start until winter, so they say!
Commercial......... again! Yes, I Never fail to get my flu shot. I'm not due yet for the booster pneumonia shot.It lasts 10 years. I don't need to make an appointment - My DR office calls me to get in there.
I think Ryan likes all kinds of music and yes to country! Thanks, Lynn. Ceil said she was doing a Halloween box for the boys!
Back to my show - think I know Who Done It! Be back at 10
Been reading about your all's Geese sightings. Two years ago in December I stepped outside, heard a mournful sound, it was a full moon night. Looked up to see a wonderful flock of Tundra Swans flying south, some flew right across the face of the full moon. If you can google the sound somehow, it is wonderful. I have a Thayer's guide on my PC and can hear it anytime I want !
I see some of the spooky images at Pa, Margie. Twins just lost, 1-0, so no playoffs for them this year. Darn. Both Chicago teams are in the playoffs this year, first time in over 100 years.
It's getting to be bedtime----but I just got camera dwnlded from some pics I took today after work of the river. A couple are far away & maybe somewhat blurry, but one has a big SURPRISE in it that I never saw until blowing it up in 'puter! Will put them on blog tonight, so if you're asleep, look in the AM!! ;>)) Haven't checked blog since 3:30---will do so later. Pleasant dreams to all hitting the hay.

Norma, Happy to hear you will be taking the train ride. If you have the list I did check those that were taking the train.
one reason I love watching BWO, during the off season, is you almost always get the eagles stopping by for a visit....so easy for an eagle fix:)

One of the ladies on the Kent Forum goes and she loves it. I think she lives in Southern NJ.
Panda at DC cam II has been playing with a white tube "prbably has treats in it". Rolling it all around. Now eating bamboo.
I have been to Blackwater several times. Before I was interested in eagles. Loved to see this time of the year thousands of geese and the deer. First time my son was about 6 or 7 my dad took us. My son will be 44 on December so that was a long time ago.
Red, I drive past the cut off to Blackwater every time I go to the condo at the beach, but usually cannot take the extra time to visit, it is about 25 mins out of my way
hey Ceil, it has changed a little, but not much..yeah Dad would love the eagle cam
You should take the time Helen, Looks like an interesting place. Stop and smell the roses
I have been there several times since then. Red it seems forever when you turn off Rt. 50 to go there. It is a great place.
no doubt about it, it is a beautiful place.....and thank heavens our last Gov, saved it from being over run by developers:)
I stop and smell to many roses also. I learned a long time ago. Material things can wait.
Love your descripton of the crap stuff. I have some ot that too.
In fact right now husband told me dinner was exploding. It wasn't just sizzling a little. Man cannot cook. Good guy.
dinner is exploding, what are you having:):)

Turkey and it is in a bag.
BBL

NEW PANDA CAM PAGE AT SAN DIEGO
I had a gaggle of geese fly over this afternoon....making lots of noise, but couldn't get a good enough view to judge what kind they were. Honk, honk!!
And Topper Shutt just showed a pic sent in by a Charlestown resident of a flyover there. Boo..sure sign that winter is on the way.
Good evening everyone.
Hope to see the nest soon, huh?!!
HI YA, THELMA AND LYNN:)
Hello mits-sorry to see the Ravens lost
they are working on it, Thelma
tha't ok, our 22 year old rookie QB is getting some good practice, and this was his 1st away game, because the Houston game got postponed due to the Hurricane....
LOL
glad to hear the good news Wanda-yeah Helen the Ravens held up well and are looking good for the future-the skins look good too-sorry Norma :)
I can't remember why Norma likes the Cowboys over the Skins. That would be like wanting MARSHALL to win over MORGANTOWN MOUNTAINEERS!! I'm sure she has her reasons. Bless her heart.
WANDA, YOU GO AHEAD AND DANCE GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!......YES, Redskins look excellent....they realy did whoop the Cowboys. Know our son is happy:)
i ditto that Wanda
WANDA, you have mail.
Yeah, Thelma, Skins are looking REAL good!!!
Wanda...New knee...did you get another cortisone shot or are you getting Synvasc?
Hi, everyone, I am back from my afternoon of Kayaking on the river. I am officially hooked on Kayaking.
Just heard where there is now a Pet Food Pantry in the metro area, so that folks who are struggling can feed their pets, too...so much better than seeing them given to shelters when there are hard times.
eagle back at BWO...just its tail
I need to catch up on posts yet and take some aspirin. We saw quite a few osprey, one eagle, about 5 great blues and lost of kingfishers. I am downloading the pictures now. The eagle looked like a first year, but will have to check pictures.
I hear an eagle at Maine!
I SO LOVE YOU WANDA!!
Good evening everyone!
what a great story, Lynn...yes, WANDA you are the best:)
LYNN, that is a good question...I have no idea what they put into my knee. Doctor Reyna gave me the injection and said I have quite a bit of calcium in my knee. I said "How do you know" and he said his needle was sliding around in it. EEEEWWWWW!
Sharon Lea, I thought you were taking a nap!!
hope you didn't watch it Wanda.
Squirrel at PA pix. Wonder if it is Finnegan.
Eagle at BWO!
Wanda-sounds like it really helped. I've had to watch a doctor (Dr. Rob-Bev and Sharon) put a big 'ole needle in my knee. I don't know how I would be now but back then I was young and dumb and it looked worse than it felt. :)
Deb-I admire you. I think I would be claustrophobic.
New update on panda cub
Nooooo,I didn't watch. I watched my Mom get her knee done and it looks a whole lot worse than it feels. It look as if he had a screwdriver in her knee and was wiggling it all around in there and there was a large hole when he pulled the needle out. So, no, I looked at the diseased heart on the wall. LOL
I was looking at my pictures and forgot to tell you we saw two mink also!! I haven't seen one in a long time.
I was looking around the room trying to figure out what the noise was and I think it is coming from Maine. It is quiet now.
hey Ceil....pay attention, I posted that one earlier...is there a follow up to Tuesdays post
Oops sorry my bad. That has already been reported. I was so excited to see the date. I'm going to sit in the corner.
there has been a lot of noise up in Maine today, Deb, including what sounds like a squirrel chewing on the microphone
Thelma, aren't you coming to Open House???? Just realized your name isn't on Jo's list!
that is ok, Ceil, because I know you read every one of the posts 99.9% of the time
I think you would be alright, there are all different kinds of kayaks. There are even some you just sit on top of!! You have the whole world to look at in a kayak and it is so peaceful. On top of that it is so easy to do, easier than canoeing.
No-I'm not going to be at the open house. I've decided I'd better stay home this time. I know I'm going to miss everyone. Hope to get some great pictures.
did you go thru any rapids, Deb?
Deb-that sounds really spiritual but the panic-I don't know if I could ever try it.
BBL
Wanda-don't overdo it!!!
Well, I guess I will get dressed. I would rather not but I have to go out and it might be frowned if I wear my work clothes (Robe and slippers!!). It's a bummer but what the heck...
We will miss you Thelma and Buddy. Back to the corner.
No rapids, the Missouri isn't a rapids type of river, at least not around here. The current is pretty fast, but it is a wide flat river.
Glad to "see" everyone this evening. I've got to skedaddle-do some chores, get some dinner. Thunder boomers are here. I love the smell, the feel and the sound of the rain-not in the extremes of course.
lol...you can come out of the corner, Ceil:)
Ceil ,you have mail.
both eagles at BWO watching the sunset
falcon cam has been down since yesterday..down under
Shucks, Thelma, that's too bad. We will miss you!! Pic in a drink....what's your preference?
send a pic of Buddy too, we will stick it in a bottle of water:)
The eagles at BWO look so funny. Wind is blowing their feathers.
Just finished dinner.. Lots more comments then when I left for blood work.. Took my panda nap - heard it
raining with some thunder. Now I need to come in here and get Ceil out of the corner if she is still there and to check out our Dancing Fool! WHoo Hoo! ... lol
Wanda, could win "DWTS"...:) she is very graceful.
The Atlanta Panda cam - it is cool that they have Little Luney and also Buta Buta pics with Lun Lun. It's fun to compare them up to 1 month.
Poof eagles gone. I am out Jo. For how long I do not know. So glad Wanda's knee is doing well. But as Thelma said don't over do, Wanda.
Hey Ceil - we would all look funny if
the wind blew our feathers! You notice they took off when you said that!..... lol
You are right Mits. Wanda can do DWTS.
they get miffed so easily.....
BBL going to get some Ben & Jerry cherry garcia ice cream

Hi Anne & Robyn.
Everything's ok with me, Robyn.
Tomorrow is Oct 1 Anne - what day do you leave for Toledo?
Robyn - Naturenut said her stink bugs are small, don't try to get in the house and don't stink. What's with ours then?
Anne by the 18th there should be color. Look at Wanda's weekend trip and you'll see it has started in some areas.
Thanks Jo I will
Going over to check 20 new emails..
Hope they are all beautiful eagle pictures.
I see you found a wetbag for your
camera, Deb. Can't wait to see the pics. You saw quite a variety of wildlife & how about those Mink!

Have company. BBL
Have company. BBL
It isn't expensive either for a cruise it is the excersions and alcohol that will cost.
We won 1300 we almost wont close to 2600 in bingo but we ended up splitting it with another winner. It was Tori's make a wish.
always have wanted to go on that cruise, Robyn.....maybe down the road when the girls get older
I want to go with out Tori, there are a lot of Adults on it too.
I want to go to Alaska next, after looking at mom and dad's video when they went several years ago I was sold.
Mits-that is one mean looking dude of an eagle! Love it - thanks.
WHoo Hoo! Wanda is still dancing!
I bet that snake is beating it out
of the house
Robyn - Norma and I are suppose to be saving dollars to go there. Mits is coming too and she found us lodging in a beautiful fully equipment A frame cabin!! Chef included!!
hubby and I were just talking about Alaska....that is one of the first trips, we want to take, well, maybe, I want to take when he retires......he was supposed to retire today, but firm wanted him to stay longer, so hopefully this time next year.....I think I hear thunder...going to check radar
yes Jo, for an appetizer there will be turtle soup:)
((Hugs))
yes, Robyn...mkt was better:)
Robyn, you mentioned flu shot...reminds me, I got my flu shot today.
LADIES, PLEASE GET YOUR FLU SHOT!
That sounds enticing Jo. I was hoping on going to Oregon and Washington next year but my friend is moving back to San Diego. I do have friends in Oregon that have been bugging me to visit for over a decade lol
Robyn, not the friend we met is it????

Off to watch Hannity and Loser err Combs bbl
Jo, you are so right. We should be thankful that we can do the tasks at hand. Did you get your FLU SHOT?? It is especially important this time of year (Oct.) when planning on being with a bunch of people (as at the Open House).
I'll just stay away from people if it looks like they have the flu....:):):)
Ceil I wrote to the Atlanta zoo last week to ask them about audio.
Remember, gals, and guys, too...it can take up to 2 mos. for your flu shot to "kick in" so that's why they start giving it in Oct. Actual flu season doesn't start until winter, so they say!
Jo...does Ryan like country music???
HI Everyone.
PIX PA has some weird ghostly things going on....
And I mean WEIRD !
And Big Baby Luney is all alone...
Commercial......... again!
Yes, I Never fail to get my flu shot.
I'm not due yet for the booster
pneumonia shot.It lasts 10 years.
I have a Thayer's guide on my PC and can hear it anytime I want !
xoxo Be sure to check out Luney !
Even the racoons are spooked at Pix PA - -
hey Jo, first time I watched that show..pretty good
I see some of the spooky images at Pa, Margie. Twins just lost, 1-0, so no playoffs for them this year. Darn. Both Chicago teams are in the playoffs this year, first time in over 100 years.
Little Luney is "Bottoms Up"
Yup - Mom's got the baby now...
It's getting to be bedtime----but I just got camera dwnlded from some pics I took today after work of the river. A couple are far away & maybe somewhat blurry, but one has a big SURPRISE in it that I never saw until blowing it up in 'puter! Will put them on blog tonight, so if you're asleep, look in the AM!! ;>))
Haven't checked blog since 3:30---will do so later.
Pleasant dreams to all hitting the hay.
Musta been a Pitcher's Duel, DEB.
Sorry for the disappointment with the TWINS...Sigh....maybe next year.
