Helen - PandaCam - You may have told us before but is there now only 1 cam for the pandas? I just can't get the PandaCam 2 up anymore.
I keep forgetting to tell my contact at zoo....it doesn't say panda cam 2 anymore, and you can go to it, but once you are there and try to go back shows same cam, have to go start the page all over again
Flamingos - the 2 new chicks are visible over with the group of long legged adults. They just make themselves at home with the big guys!

Good morning! Been out watering pots! Now I am cooling off. Whew! Unexpectedly water fell from the sky yesterday...all over my yard. We got 2 tenths of an inch! WOW! Want rain so badly!

that is July 3rd report they are talking about,Lynn....she gets ultra sounds on Wednesday a.m's, they have to send out blood tests to Front Royal, so it takes awile to get results, when the time gets closer they will set up a lab just for her blood tests at the zoo. But none of this matters if it is a false pregnancy, pandas act the exact same way, and get same results even if it is false

THEY ARE ONLY CHARTING THE DATA FROM 4 TIL 7 RIGHT NOW, AS THINGS PROGRESS, THEY WILL GO TO A 24 HOUR WATCH
Last year they had just gone to the 24 hour watch when her levels dropped and they knew right away it was a pseudo pregnancy

Re: 25---that's why I keep hooked up to the antenna along w/ satellite so that on the rare occasion that there's big news locally (like when Nora Roberts' hotel burned in Boonsboro), I can still get it! Of course, that one even made the DC news!

Mei Xiang is showing increased pregnancy or pseudopregnancy behaviors; nest building, paw licking, nipple licking, cradling.
Mei is now confined indoors unless she exhibits wanting to go outside. An ultra sound will be attempted tomorrow if she cooperates and the latest hormone readings will be available tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning.

My daughter saw a brush fire on her way home from work--and it was raining pretty hard where she was--but she couldn't get 911 to go thru' on her cell, so she called me and I called it in. No record of controlled burn; on arrival, FD found no one in attendance and several large brush piles in farm field on fire; they couldn't get the tanker truck in because the ground was too soft. Never heard the outcome!

Still an MT nest. I just got what had to be the world's smallest tick off of Ellie Mae. It was in her arm pit or I would have never seen it. It was about 1/2 the size of a small flea. Now I am sure I am eat up with em and just can't find em. I am getting that flea and tick Topspot stuff for them and ME!!

Sissy...that sounds like a deer tick (as in Lyme disease!). Is Ellie Mae human or animal? If human, keep close eye on entry site and if it gets inflamed or she has any aches, fever, etc. get her to the Dr.! I'm not sure if pets can get Lyme or not!
Oh yes, dogs can get Lyme disease...get my dogs vaccinated for it every year...watch for red inflamed circle ring around where tick was..

Deb, I have been watching the kites and my daughter discovered there is a tree next to my folks house that is housing about 16 of them. I have been trying to catch a picture of them, they fly overhead as I lounge in the pool then fly away when I go to get the camera, those little buggers (they aren't all that small either).
I was watching them fly and it is really amazing how they shift their flight patterns by their tails and they look so graceful in flight and very noisy!!
The one we saw in Mississippi last year was black.
I just read about the eagle chicks at santa Cruz and I wish I hadnt.

So, once again I was rolling on the floor....counting the drops of rain. Love it!!! Laurel told me they got 10 inches of rain last night.....10 inches between the drops.
Sad about the eagle in the hacking tower. Which one was it it? The one with the wing or the beak problem? Certainly hope the best for the other.

The eaglet at Santa Cruz that died was A66 - he wasn't from the Pelican Harbor nest...he was from Northern California - a transplanted eaglet if you will. So Sad, he just got free.
