hey everyone... day at the lake with mom was an adventure, to say the least... the lake is so low that we couldn't get down to the water without going through the pay areas, so we just messed around on the back roads, walking washes and looking at rocks, trying to id tracks (saw deer, burro, cattle, dog, ATV, and a kid's shoeprints)and sleeping places, got to see a VERY healthy Red Tailed hawk flying at our eye level for about 50 yards on one road :-) got some neat rocks, and i found coyote scat and could see the fur and bones in it clearly...
gotta finish the display board for the symposium "meet & greet" on Friday. not a big project.
this year, i'll be taking classes on mammal rehab, training education volunteers, burrowing owl relocation, animal assessment, animal enrichment, owls of the southwest, and reptile ABCs... one hour each, over two days, plus the "mixer" on friday evening. the symposium is held every other year, and we get continuing ed credit for it, so it's important to go... i'll be sure to report back!
gotta go now, worn out from tromping around in the desert! take care everyone,
Washington Post says there will be an Orionid meteor shower on the morning of Oct. 21- with about 20 meteors per hour. American meteor shower society may have more info. www.amsmeteors.org
