11/19 camera update

8:39 amGood Morning NCTC - Its cam and tree maintenance day :-) Kyle and team are just arriving to the tree.

Waiting with bated breath 9:47 a.m.

839 am - The team has arrived on site.
854 am - The work has started. They have an attachment that can be operated from the ground that they raise up in the air to remove dead limbs. Pretty amazing technology.
902 am Two limbs have been removed with this automated procedure.
905 am They are trimming the ladder post now. It is a huge limb. NCTC has a drone taking pictures so I am sure they will share some later on.
910 am The upper part of the ladder post has been removed and lowered to the ground.
924 am Consulting on the ground. Thank goodness the rain stopped so this project could go ahead.
940 am - Tree trimmer attachment has been removed and Kyle is up the tree now working.
946 am - Kyle is now working right beside the nest.

1pm Cam 1 goes live again. We can see the downward view of the nest with crew members on the ground. We can see where the ladder post was trimmed to remove the dead part.

110 pm Ground crew discussing things.

112 pm Looks like the installation and maintenance is completed. Truck is on the move

Everything went smoothly & safely today. A big thanks to Kyle, Noah and Matthew with S&K Enterprises for their good work and expertise in getting the nest tree trimmed and new cams in place. We trimmed two decayed sections off - the lookout post and the saddle where the upper nest used to sit.

We wanted to leave the eagles a good perch and as high as possible.

The perch that is left is not a danger to the nest - it is still solid wood.

Fortunately, the lower nest is in good shape - we did not need to do anything to it.

It has a good foundation and sits in the strongest section of the nest tree.

Cam 1 is online now and we should get cam 2 online tomorrow. Cam 3 will take about two weeks to get our streaming license worked out.
