Monday

New thread.  Back from the cold snowy wilds of northern Maine.

See this article about the psychology of wildlife cams.  Nature can be cruel, and we are only observers.

Good "almost noon time" to all ♥
Hi Lolly and congrats on that feather
Thank you Steve - especially for the article!

I've kept busy this morning with just odds and ends

Calls for a thunderstorm perhaps today - o sign of any rain yet.
I think Judy saw one of the eaglets fail getting up on the stump! Won't be long.
I only give them about 2 more weeks until MT Nest.

Good luck at the dentist Lolly!

I'll try to be back later today or this evening! xoxoxoxoxoxo

The article Steve brought to our attention is well worth reading.
Woods Hall turned their cam off.
People moved on.
Why do we have cams?
What is their purpose?
I watch this cam because we do not interefere.
Yet Drama has happened here
Yet we also have had hysteria

And we stay the course.

I remember the angst Shep's arrival caused me.
It was ugly.
He was ugly.
Belle gave him a proper beating.
Fended him off.
Chick starved to death.

Oh the drama that ensued!
Did she eat it?
Did she bury it?
As if it mattered!

It is a wildlife nest.
They are wild Eagles.
Assigning human behaviour, names or characteristics to them has been problematic.

It is a privilege to watch them.
It is best to not interfere.

Norfolk Gardens
The White Rock nest.
And so on...

Best to not interfere.

Thanks for a New Thread. Good afternoon Lolly, Hoda and Jo. Was watching Shamrock(?)practicing flight. A little warmer here and was sunny but starting to cloud up some. Lolly - congrats on your feather. I'm just about finished with my brother-in-law's estate. Talked to a lawyer today about a deed transfer of his house. Lwayer explained it was not necessary. My brother-in-law's twin brother can live in house but must maintain it and pay taxes, etc. until he no longer wants to live there anymore. If he moves, then he must "deed" his share to his nephew. Was so glad the lawyer explained things clearly. Offered to pay him for advice but he said that was not necessary. Steve - thanks for the article and it was interesting reading. I think it is hard not to get attached to Belle, Shep and their offspring. I have not watched that much but I can understand people's feelings. Have a great rest of the day. Jo - gald to see you posting rtegular and I hope you are getting better daily. Take care all.

Hi all. Thanks Steve for the new thread and thanks Lolly for the call over. Hope the dentist visit went OK.

The courts dried out for tennis and, though it has been mostly cloudy all day, it has stayed dry. Some more rain tonight and early tomorrow and then sun and warmer temps for Wed. and Thurs., my next 2 days off!

Tennis was good fun and good exercise. It was great to be back on the court - haven't played for about a month. Physical therapy also went well - Thursday is my last session.

When I got home from PT and running errands, there was trash strewn across the living room area rug from the kitchen trash can and a very guilty-looking greyhound standing next to it. Stupid me, I thought what I saw in the living room was the extent of the mess! Nope, there was MUCH more in the dining room AND the kitchen! I just hope that, with everything Janey ate, the trash is the only mess I have to clean up in the house! Janey can't say the little dogs did it b/c they were securely locked in their crates, sound asleep when I came in.

Time to fix food for people and pets.

Monday afternoon. Hello to all.

Thanks to Steve for the lovely new thread and congrats to LOLLY for her feather!
Oh dear, Sandi, sorry you had a mess to deal with. Hopefully that is the only mess to come….and so glad you are back to the courts!
HODA: so glad you have had rain.

I have been semi connected for a few days, but for the most part, mentally disconnected from news, etc. And, as of an hour ago, my bliss came to an end. Angst amongst the oldest children. I am so over the fussing and feuding and nonsense that has been since Thanksgiving. I feel both frustrated and sad. And of course, I am the bad “guy”….
Aside from that….all is well. The weekend was phenomenal. Made new friends. Reconnected with old friends. Hugs. I learned many things. I participated in new things. I learned Reiki drumming. So much joy. There were moments were people were…well, people and not always nice. But that is human nature.
I have worked on cleaning the RV and catching up on laundry. I have cleaned the pool. Maybe will plant the garden this evening.
I hope everyone is well. I have thought of each of you over the weekend….sending healing, loving thoughts to one and all.
I hope I can find a satisfactory end to the children’s problems…but I suspect it may take a while.
HUGS to all

Good afternoon Sandi and Janet. Sandi - sorry about your mess. Janet - glad you had a good weekend. Starting to rain here and looks like at the nest too. I think Shamrock wants to fly away to a drier place. :-) I'm having buffering issues with Cam. Looks like it is being worked on.

JudyEddy said...

SANDI so sorry for the mess
Angie has that happen to her at time no fun!
JANET so sorry about older kids issue and super happy you had a good time. Hope all works out eventually Riff in family really suck!

I wonder if Lydia got to the nest she had mentioned on FB she may

JUDIE thinking of you and DARTH hope all is good Come and stop in and say HEY I agree with JO about the blog seems to be fading again.
Angie sent me on a mission to find a poodle skirt for Jordyn. So happy I can an did find at Party City. She wanted me to check second hand stores but PC was easier and being short notice no time to sew one. But the ironic thing is after I bought the outfit I remember it senior day at some of the thrift store. So I went and guess what I found what would have been the perfect PINK skirt only 4.99 and would have been half off. But being short notice I didn't get it. I got her a scarf and poodle socks also and there is a Pink Ladys bomber jacket also I can't wait to see pictures tomorrow

Every family seems to have child squabble problems, Janet.

Had a good radio show today. We tape once a week.
Just a quiet day here - lots of bullies snoring.

You comment about still feeding the eaglets, Judy, reminds me of these little sparrows on our deck rail - all four of them - and the mom is dropping bird seed into their mouths. ;)

Janet, so sorry about the adult children drama. It;s painful to watch and hard to know what and how much to say without overstepping boundaries. Good luck.

Lori and Hoda, it's really nice to see you popping on the blog more often.

Jo, prayers continue for you for strength and healing. I hope today is a good day.

Today is a school day for me. 11 student days left - the kids are getting harder and harder to motivate. Janey did not have any gastrointestinal issues from eating whatever she scrounged from the trash can.

Have a greyt day all.

Good morning! Two sleeping eaglets in the nest.

74 and cloudy! Going to church this morn to work in the garden. Have some weeding todo as well as new plants to put in. I have Lantana in the garden and I think most of it has drowned in all our rain. The garden is in a fence enclosed area and when it rains it becomes a pool. Hold the water nicely! Ugh!

Dentist went right to work on my tooth. Have a temporary crown and will have a new crown in two weeks. Really like my dentist. Thank goodness! He accused my hygienist of planting a bomb last week while cleaning. She came in after hearing she was accused! They are all so nice!

More pictures of the fox in our yard last night. Think he is here after moles. He is a much neater digger than an armadillo! Wondering where he lives!

Drum roll please......30 pounds! So excited! I am just trying to maintain but loosing! I think I am doing well with portion size and
a 30 minute "walk" each day!

Caladiums are starting to come up in the gardens. Looking good!

Sandi, Laurel has the rest of this week and then out at noon for four days next week. Boys just have three days next week. She is so ready! Funny, but I had school dreams last night! Remember them well too. Interesting!

Time to get moving. Have a great day!

good Tuesday afternoon to one and all.
I was up and about early this morning. Yesterday evening, Tom and I went to Lowes and purchased 12 large (2 cu feet each) bags of soil and one 50 lb bag of manure. I ran out of time, daylight, etc last night. So first thing this morning, about 7:30 I was putting the soil into the big tub and have my garden planted now. I piddled about the back yard, to include vacuuming the pool, etc for a bit.

Went to my grand childrens' award ceremony at their school today. Good grief, I had on the calendar to do something with them today and did not list WHAT we were doing....I would have dressed up a bit more had I remembered. I thought I was watching Lorelei for some reason....duh. but none the less, it was great seeing them get their awards.

Amelia was chosen as student of the year (out of all students that attend there) for this year! She received a really neat EAGLE statue. They are the Andrew Jackson Eagles. :)

I have run errands and now have dinner cooking. I hope to get a few more things done today before it is over and done with.

Chelsea (oldest) didn't mention the conversation yesterday, etc. In fact, she was in a bright and chipper mood. The only mention of upcoming events that have sparked the most recent nonsense was Michael's birthday, which is next week (all three of my children have birthday in the next 3 weeks). There was some snarky comment made and I just met it head on and let it go.

The rest of the day, thankfully was great til I got home to the teenager, who is...sigh...the teenager.

Back to work tomorrow. I've had 7 consecutive days off, so I am ready ready ready to get back to it.

SANDI: so glad Janey did not have any ill effects from scarfing down tasty garbage. lol.

JUDYE: yes, sometimes you wonder with kids how much to say. sometimes I think making them sit nose to nose like when they were children would be a good idea....lol.

LOLLY: you are melting away to nothing!!!!! i'm sure you will even out soon.
congrats!

Hope everyone has a lovely evening! :) hugs and love to all

Good evening,

Watching DWTS right now.

Allie Cat has been very active today. She keeps jumping off the mantle and going behind the TV. If I try to stop her, she just does it faster, meowing defiantly. Then she went up on the kitchen counter and knocked a large jar of cat treats into the water bowl. It landed upside down and all of the treats were floating. This morning, she got into my bathroom and attacked a roll of toilet paper. Such a mess.

Goodorming my eagle friends. 1 standing, 1 lying down at the nest. Sunny in Shepherdstown. Sunny in Bethany Beach too - yay!!!

Shirley, gotta love an active kittie, despite the messes, right? When we had a cat (before we found out that both Kevin and Denny are allergic), I never was able to adjust to opening the freezer door and having a paw tap me on the top of my head as I reached in for something. Having always been a dog person, even growing up, I was completely unaccustomed to animals being that high.

Lolly, I am envious of Laurel. Still, even though the kids in our district have 10 days left, I only have 5. I can now count my working days on one hand! :)

Crate training updateafter 3 weeks. Fewer accidents on the floor, no more in the crates. I have given up thinking the wiener dogs will ever be housebroken at their ages. But rather than keeping them in crates for the rest of their lives, I ordered an exercise pen from amazon.com. It arrives tomorrow. The plan is to connect the 2 crates, side by side, with their beds in them and remove the doors so they can go in and out as they please. The 2 open ends of the pen will be attached to the fronts of the crates so they have a small area outside of their crates to move around in. Initially it will be very small, like a 4'X4' square. If their bathroom habits are good, then I'll make it bigger. There will be no pee pads put down because I don't want them to think it's OK to go to the bathroom in the house at all. We'll see what happens.

My "naked nails" are doing ok. They don't look great but my cuticles aren't red and itchy anymore.

Tennis for me at 9am and then I think it will be a kayaking afternoon.

Have a greyt day all.

Good morning eagle watchers. Viewed the nest for an hour or so last evening. One in center of nest and other one upright on the left side. The upright one was occasionally jumping and flapping vigorously. Since it appeared to be windy, I was concerned it would go flying--I use that term loosely--over the side of the nest

Yesterday I went in search of a flat king sized sheet. I only went to a couple of stores, but one saleslady said most places only sell sets. I just want one to cover the terribly outdated floral print couch in the living room. I should just replace the couch, but it is a hide a bed that is needed in this small house. Also the couch is in excellent condition, I just don't like the print. I haven't seen any slip overs online that are to my liking. Oh well.

Need to get ready for a Staples run in the other direction from yesterday. If we have the energy after other shopping I may check Macy's.

I don't remember if I mentioned this earlier, but after my three weeks of eating 95%vegan, I gained 2 pounds. LOL. Must have been that cheese on the pizza!

Hope all are having a sunny day.

grannyblt said...

Slip covers, not slip overs. Auto correct and not proofreading got me again.

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Lynne, perhaps you can get sheets online. I have found the same problem with buying pillowcases. I like to have extra ones, but found that the nice ones in department stores only come in sets with the sheets, so I have been buying pillowcases online.

I am waiting for oldest daughter to arrive - I told her I had been hungry for Sloppy Joe's so that will be lunch! I may need to go on Vegan - my weight is getting pretty low.

Lynne - have you looked for actual slip covers? I have seen beautiful throws for covering furniture - Hope you find something pleasing to your eyes!

Sandi - good luck with your wiener doggies. You have some very good ideas! Have fun at tennis.

Have a good day xoxoxoxoxo

I am on a roll! Down 31 lbs this Morning! Laurel and I weigh the same only she is 2 inches taller! My goal is to weigh less! Giving her a hard time but very thankful I have effluenced her to lose.

Today grossssssserie store then outside I go! Tomorrow we go to Denton. A little concerned as possible severe weather. Do not want hail damage on my car!

Yesterday evening was fun. The Mississippi Kites really entertained us. Saw one in the top of a tree. Then It started circling around. Heard another and upon searching for it...there were two sitting close to the nest. Also, on the ground under the nest are many little white feathers.

Jack sprayed our pecan trees yesterday. Hoping for a great crop this year!

🌹🌹🌹🌹Jo, many prayers for you!!🌹🌹🌹🌹

Still planning a Sept trip to New England and a WV stop on the way home in October. Will let you know our dates as we get closer to the trip! I want to see as many of you as can gather for a meal!

E8 UPDATE: E8’s condition has been upgraded to fair. E8 is now routinely standing and using the right injured leg, but still won’t perch and spends a lot of time lying down. E8 is bright and alert and eating a diet of semi-soft fish fillets and meat. The eaglet requires assistance during feedings but has been slowly eating on its own. Blood work abnormalities have resolved and are back to normal.

Thank you for everyone's continued support and donations. We will have another update this Friday.

Thanks for the link Shirley. I checked out that website the other day. It is always nice to hear from a satisfied customer when ordering online. They almost have what I want if they would fit correctly. We'll see. In the meantime I'll check out WM as JudyE suggested for a flat sheet. I didn't think of there as I usually buy linens at a department store. And in my opinion, department stores aren't what they used to be.

Had a geothermal good lunch at Panera. Oh my, a geothermal lunch. I caught the autocorrect this time. It was supposed to say another good lunch. LOL

Also got a nice dish garden for the front porch, more flowers, etc. after Memorial Day. May put in a tomato plant or two then also.

sad news at one of the nest They think it may be poisoning this is from one of the eagle pages

9:15pm CT ~ Decorah North Nest Update

- A quick note from Amy: We have two eagle experts, including a veterinarian, monitoring the eagles privately tonight. Thanks for all of your good wishes and prayers for the eagle family. They are much appreciated.

RRP Executive Director, John Howe, sadly announces that it appears DN2 has passed. RRP closed the live camera view some time ago to spare viewers additional heartache, but privately monitoring the camera, DN2 has not been observed to be breathing for several hours.

We do know that DN1 is active, alert and was playing with sticks and nest fluff. Mom North is standing, flapping her wings, and looking like she may be recovering a bit. Dad has been observed off on the distant perch branch.

RRP is continuing to monitor the situation, and it is now dark in Decorah. RRP is also networking with other agencies and we will keep you posted as we keep a close eye on The North’s. We will also do our best to try and figure out the cause of today’s events to the best of our ability with other experts.

We have no other information at this time, and would are not able to address any other questions except for what is stated in this update. We sincerely appreciate all your kind thoughts, positive energy and prayers for the North Nest family."""

I wonder if they will go in the nest to get the eaglet?

Goodorming my eagle friends. Sorry that I forgot to check in first thing this morning. I have been to physical therapy - today was my last day! I am officially retired from PT!

Then I went to my nail salon for a "test." Since my naked nails have done so well this week, aside from looking ugly, I had acrylic put on one nail on my right hand to see what happens. I had gel put on one nail of the other hand. If I'm going to have a reaction to the acrylic, it will happen by tomorrow and I'll know for sure that I can never have acrylic on my nails again, and I'll switch to gel. If I have a reaction to the gel AND the acrylic, then I will just be very sad. Fingers crossed.

It's another beautiful warm, sunny day. This afternoon, I am dog sitting another greyhound. If the dogs get along, I'll probably start doing this one day a week.

Jo, glad your appetite is back and a family picnic is on your agenda. My mouth is watering. :)

Congratulations on hitting the 30 lbs lost mark, Lolly!!! Way to go, girl!

Last week we sent a message through the realtor asking the current owners of the house we're buying if they wanted to sell some things ... yes the do! They will leave all the pool house furniture, hoses and hose reels all situated perfectly around the yard, the white table, chairs and two barstools in the kitchen ( love the table and they match the cupboards), plus the tv's which are already mounted on the walls, a really nice love seat and sofa downstairs in the finished basement (I'm so excited to have a couch that has recliners in it!), and a few other things I can't remember right now. I'm so excited!

My mom called last night and my dad has some soft tissue calcifications "masses" on his pelvis and in his liver. They're easily diagnosed and categorized by a radiologist with a CT scan, but they didn't tell them what type they were, so he has an appt with a specialist in a few weeks. Of course, they could have told them what kind and they had brain freeze after hearing the first sentence.

Kay, what's up with your hip?

He tries out for Jazz band again next week. Hopefully he will make Lab band 1 but Lab band 2 is also awesome. That is the band he is I this year. Then there is 3, but he is above that band.

Jacob has decided to leave the cello and orchestra. He is changing over to band and has chosen the saxophone. That is what I played in band.

Ok, time for the pillows. Going to open up the house as temp has dropped to 67. Nite all! SED!

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

So good to see Clover and Shamrock as they prepare to fledge. Now eating well on their own and it looks like branching should soon begin! I love this pair!

LORI, the left hip is giving me a bit of trouble--bursitis---easing up nicely with exercise and Ibuprohen. Guess the bursa sacs were insulted by additional dog walking. Mainly what's wrong is Old Age!☺ Happy to hear about the furniture deal on the "new" house! Things are falling together nicely for you gals!

Thanks to all who've been concerned and praying---that helps a lot!

I'm off to enroll in an exercise/swimming program just up the street a couple of blocks. I should have done this ages ago.

Prayers for JO, TORI and all others in need!!!

Good morning! Stormed all night and so far this morning. Thankfully just rain, no hail, no strong wind, no tornado! 65 and I may have to dress more warmly. Lol. Cool sitting here in shorts.

Kay.....the swimming excercise sounds great. We just continue our "walking" with the DVD.

I think today I may do a little Lollypaloozing and then just read. Now doesn't that sound like a plan? Have not done that in a long time.

Lori....sounds like the new house and move are shaping up. We will need pictures, you know!

Jo......you are sounding so much better. Prayers continue!

Making plans for Monday. Laurel and the boys will be here and hopefully Michael and Zach.

Have a great day!

Janey story, starting with a little background. The house across the street from us is lived in by a lady named Christine. The landlord/owner of the house, Michael, lives 4 doors farther down the same street.

So...at 4am, Janey started whining and pacing. I could hear her stomach/intestines making very loud squeaking noises from across the room. I figured she had an upset stomach and either needed to poop or puke. So I put on my bathrobe and slippers and took her outside in the pitch dark.

When she got out in the yard, she walked from tree to tree eating leaves from the little plants at the base of the trees. I knew she was looking for grass to eat. I put her leash on her and walked her across the street to the side of Christine's house where there is some grass. As Janey was grazing, we eventually ended up alongside the garage of the house. When we did, the outside motion detector light on the front of the garage came on and I could see that there were about 5 large tables of stuff that Michael had set up because he and his wife were going to have a yard sale in the driveway of Christine's house.

I looked up at the house and saw that the windows to Christine's bedroom were open and the blinds were raised halfway and her bedroom is right above the garage, so I felt certain that the outside light coming on would wake her up. I quickly hustled Janey back across the street and into the house and, as I did, I could hear Christine in the house talking. I figured she was on the phone to either Michael and his wife or to the police to report that someone was outside her house attempting to steal yard sale stuff.

When I got back inside with Janey (who never did throw up or poop), I looked out our front window and could see outside lights on at Michael's house and Michael standing outside on his deck with a flashlight, shining it toward Christine's house. I waited about 15 minutes to see if the police were going to show up - they didn't - and then went back to bed but, by then, it was 5am and the alarm was set for 5:30am so I never got back to sleep. Before I left for school, I wrote a note to Michael explaining what happened and apologizing for him being awakened at an ungodly hour and stuck it on the windshield of his truck.

Needless to say, it was a very long day at school!

On another note, I now have 10 beautiful, long, painted gel nails. I am happy!

And now, I am headed for bed. Goodnight all.

good Saturday morning to one and to all. reading back, it sounds as if everyone had an okay week. it just kind of got away from me.....

yesterday was Olivia's 15th birthday. before we "turn around twice" she will be hitting 18....good grief how in the world does time go so fast? I will post the facebook links for those who might like to look and are not on facebook. (next post)

its been a busy back to work week.

LORI: your plan to keep some of the items that go with the house is wonderful. everyone wins!

SANDI: what an adventure....wow. I finally have Dax convinced it is not necessary to go out every single night about 2 am. he's finally "sleeping thru the night"....for that I am thankful!

KAY: hope you get to feeling better!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! hugs to all!

Howdeeeee! Plans around here change so fast. Michael and Zach came here and spent the night after going to the Rangers game. They left about 11 this morning. Had a good time with Zach. We had quality cuddle time! He does like to be given hugs!

Laurel and family are coming tomorrow instead of Monday. They have school Tuesday and so they would rather come here Sunday. Cannot get my kids together!! Michael is not cooperative. Grrrrr!

I worked in the yard a little after he left but not a whole lot. Jack had a back spasm earlier this week and he is taking it easy.

Have a great weekend!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Goodorming my eagle friends. Two eaglets standing at opposite edges of the nest. It looks sunny in Shepherdstown. Not so much here.

Kay, I hope your hip is feeling better each day - water exercise sounds like wonderful therapy for it!

Jo, I hope today is a good day for you - my prayers continue.

Shirley, it never even occurred to me that someone might point a gun at me when I was skulking around in the dark. I'm glad I live in a small town where things like that just don't happen.

Janey and I were awake and outside at 4am again this morning. Her diarrhea is no better and so far this morning, she has not peed; it concerns me that she may be getting dehydrated. I hope we don't end up with an emergency vet visit today or tomorrow.

Tennis for me at 9am. The clouds will start leaking some time this afternoon or evening and then continue to leak through the night and tomorrow.

Have a greyt day all.

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Hope Janey has peed by now, Sandi.

Luna, who has never had accidents in the house until recently, peed in the dining room again last night. She is having trouble getting around and last night she was restless and went downstairs. I should have followed her immediately. By the time I went to check on her, it was already too late. Fortunately, I have a carpet cleaner.

stronghunter said...

Our young eagles are sitting in the nest watching for a parent to arrive with food. There was a bit of squealing. They do seem to be calmer than some previous eaglets. The first one I watched was Hidey. Hidey was not so calm to put it mildly.

Thank you, Jo! I'm looking forward to a fun day!

Sandi, you probably already know this, but give her only small amounts of food at a time until she goes without diarrhea. Boiled chicken and rice is best - bland and easily digestible. Try some banana. 100% pure pumpkin (not the pie filling) adds bulk and works for constipation and diarrhea in dogs. Some say a raw bone helps. I learned a lot with Gordy who hads a thickened intestine and gets diarrhea with everything except the most broken down of proteins/hydrolyzed food.

Shirley, you think it could be a UTI? That happened to us with Priscilla - she started just squatting on the floor for what we thought was no reason. She was back to normal a day after the vet gave her antibiotics.

Shirley - Sounds as though Susan has met her man! You're right about learning to know him better especially if he is coming into the family!

Sandi - I'm not sure about these 4am trips - lol - Here is hoping they cleaned out your canal and you can get that kayak in the water!

Well oatmeal time for me --- hoping that all of you enjoy your day - Memorial Day is a very important day to take time to reflect on our Freedom.

good morning and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LORI

SANDI: hope Janey is doing better.
and I'm glad you have your nails back. That's one thing I do miss, even though my own nails were never really great, I miss having nails. I have to keep mine super short and trimmed with the cuticles filed as well.....I typically do a manicure 2x a week....and no polish. Sometimes if I have a special event or long weekend i'll put fake ones on just to enjoy but keeping them ON is the problem for me.

I had a very busy day yesterday. The pool Is clean; corn planted; everything watered; lolly-paloozed my RV so when we get ready to head out in a couple of weeks all I should have to do is add clothes, food, people and dogs. I am loving the new mini vac I purchased. It is a dirt devil and it comes apart to do corners and such. Perfect size and good suction. yeah yeah yeah!

My sacred datura (moon plants) bloomed last night for the first time this season. The lightening bugs are out as well. I was very happy to see all of that.

We are heading to REN FEST in a bit. Hot day ahead, I see pool time in my future!

Hugs, love, and healing energies for all in need!

Good morning Sandi, Shirley, Lori, Jo, Judy and Janet. Happy Birthday Lori - hope you have a good celebration. Sandi - sorry to hear Janey is having some problems. Looks like nest is quiet now. Off today and then another 6 day week next week. Can't complain much - extra funds will help with the medical bills. Just wanted to say Rhonda is doing much better lately. Seems like new medicines and everyone's prayers here have helped. Enjoy today and Memorial Day tomorrow. Take care.

stronghunter said...

Hadn't thought of a UTI, Lori. Will mention it to Kathryn. However, I think it is most likely that Luna is just having a hard time getting around and doesn't want to move until it is too late to ask out.

I saw a cardinal grab a peanut a couple of days ago, too, Jo. It surprised me as well. Usually it it the blue jays and titmice that go for the peanuts . . . and the squirrels, of course. We have some starlings (grackles, maybe?) hanging around. They go for the peanuts as well. They seem to like us, as they have built some nests and raised young in our yard.

stronghunter said...

Vince is interesting, Jo. He has purchased a large house in a nice neighborhood, but it is definitely a bachelor pad. I think I've mentioned the weightlifting equipment in the living room. Susan says he is confused about her disapproval of his choice of living room furniture. She is working on him, but there are some challenges ahead. Also, together, they have seven cats. Nice that he likes cats, but wow. He has three and she has four.

He's currently working on his PhD in some field I've forgotten. It is very specific and quite unusual. However, he must be doing okay if he can buy a nice house in Northern VA.

Typing with my left hand. Had a really fun afternoon and evening with Laurel and boys.. Laurel drives a mini van with a sliding door. Jack and Jacob were messing around and the door was slammed closed on my little finger. Did not break the skin, did not hurt badly. Very quickly tried to remove ring but could not. Jack cut it off. It was terribly deformed. Have had ice on my finger. It is swollen and a little purple. Will se how it is tomorrow.

Nite all! SED!

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends. I see 2 eaglets in the nest. It looks dry in Shepherdstown. It is very wet here. The rain was just starting when I got up with the dogs at 6am but now it's very steady and expected to last all day long. The roads will be a mess throughout the day with tourists heading home. Fortunately yesterday ended up being dry so the holiday weekend wasn't a total wash-out for visitors.

Lolly, OUCH! Just reading your description of what happened to your finger sounds painful!

Jo, loved the Elliot photos on Facebook. The ocean water is FREEZING!!! I can't believe he was smiling while getting his feet wet!

I did end up at the vet's office with Janey yesterday. She was given subcutaneous fluids (she looked like she had a giant tumor on each side of her abdomen but the fluid has all dissipated), an injection to stop the spasms in her stomach/intestines, special food for today, and oral meds for the next 5 days. She did pee when I took her outside this morning - a good sign - and she ate OK. Fingers crossed that she's on the upswing.

Wiener dog crate re-training update - since Friday afternoon, an exercise pen has been set up around both crates in the sun room. We have been leaving the crate doors open to allow Bella and Jenni a little running around room without giving them free run of the entire sun room. I have not put pee pads down because the whole idea of the crates has been to get them to understand that all peeing and pooping is done outside. Obviously they DON'T understand - we have had 3 messes on the floor in 3 days (2 liquid and 1 solid). I'm disappointed but really not surprised. With regard to longstanding bathroom habits, you really can't teach old dogs new tricks. But the current situation is one I can live with for the rest of their lives. The dogs have a little area to move around in and they can get to their water bowl. If they have an accident, it's on tile. I can get to the sliding glass door and deck where the grill is, to my desk where I keep my laptop, and to the laundry room, which is adjacent to the sun room, without having to step over or open any gates. It is what it is.

Breakfast was just delivered at the nest and claimed by one eaglet. The parent took off quickly. I could tell that both kids could see the parent coming because they were facing the same way and squeaking long before I saw an adult land with a fish.

Have a greyt day all.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Funny thing, Sandi, there has been no pain. Well, there was pain trying to take my ring off. When I squeeze the finger or try to move it no pain. It is slightly swollen this morn, slightly purple. Only way I can describe it is my finger feels tired, achy.

More rain during the night. No working in the yard today so very wet and muddy. Think it will be a reading day! I can live with that!

Kay said...

Good Memorial Day Afternoon, Eagle Buds!!!

SANDI, sounds like you've taken the best path toward living with "it is what it is". The poor ol' girls aren't able to comprehend just what their humans would like to have happen, I guess. Hope Janey rebounds quickly!

LOLLY, may that achy finger heal quickly--I cringe at what it must feel like to have car door slammed on one's hand.

The eaglets are a rest, side by side, in their favorite spot by the big branch. Sunny and no rain.

Same here, with temp headed for upper 80's. Seth will join me for dinner/the evening/overnight, breakfast and lunch.... We're making up for missing last Sat.. He'll bring his smart phone and it's Ireland trip pictures for our entertainment.

JO, so glad and not surprised that yesterday's family gathering was a huge success! Prayers continue for you, the beloved matriarch of a fine, fine family!

Have a good day everyone! Good bless our troops and may all who lost their lives serving in the military RIP.

Prayers for all Momsters, Dadsters, Kidsters and Petsters in need!

Good afternoon everyone and a respectful Memorial Day!

It seems that the majority of folks ignore this holiday and only celebrate it as the beginning of summer. Our servicemen are not always treated as they so rightfully deserve.

Kay, can't wait to hear about Seth's travels. Know he had a wonderful time.

Sandi, so glad Janey is on the mend. Also sounds like you have come up with a long term plan with the porch pups! I admire your positive attitude under frustrating circumstances.

The nest is surrounded by such lush green! The eaglets really stand out. Won't be long before they are gone. Every season seems to be shorter and shorter.

Jo, loved the pics of Elliot in the surf. Such a precious child. Always keeping you close.

Sad that the loon found no mate this year. Miss that cam. Yet Pot Plant Owl found a mate so maybe next year there will be owlets!

Hope everyone is well. Lolly sorry about your finger. That could have been so much worse!

Take care.

Really....finger has not hurt even when it happened. Yes, I think my mangled ring saved the pinkie. And like Laurel said, look on the good side....I did not break a nail! Lol. Still slightly purple, still swollen and therefore stiff. If I drank a cup of tea, my pinkie would look just right! It sorta sticks out. I said I hope it does not stay that way but Jack assures me he will still love me.😜
