Thank you, Steve. Have a good visit!

Finally got my eagle pics in the Nook. Blogger was misbehaving last night and the layout is not as neat as it should be.

Snow has almost all melted and it's 42 here with SUN!!!! I've been having trouble trying to make the "degree" sign using Alt 248. I just lost all my post and page went to email!!!DUH! Wonder if it's just us?
Have a great day~~~Prayers and Good Wishes for Thelma and ALL who don't feel well.

Do I get a feather??????? I sure want one. Don't know if I mentioned it, but they are going to construct an Indian Village in the Park!!!! I could wear a feather when it opens and get arrested by DNR!

Judie said...

Good morning.

Thank you Steve for the fresh Thursday thread. Hope you enjoy the visit.

Yes, Loretta. There is a feather for you to put in your cap. Congrats and thank you for the call over. Oh, as for wearing the feather to the Indian Village - just click your heels together three times and say "This is an invisible feather." Degree is Alt 167 for me. Need to check out the Nook.

Busy in the nest this morning. A good sign.

Shirley, how was bridge last night?

Ever so happy Jo got her nest trimmed.

Hoda, maybe a discreet word on shrews with the yoga leader?

Off to do some puttering around the house.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

Good Morning Eagle Buds

and thanks for the new thread STEVE

and the call over LORETTA

JudyEddy said...

OH LORETTA the feather is yours but you must keep it on the down low with the law not unless you have Indian heritage in you LOL I do

JudyEddy said...

LOL with the nest trimmed I keep picturing WAXING in that area OUCH and its been a long time since we talked about the wax we use to get on the blog with the thread LOL OUCH

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Hi Judie,
Bridge was fun last night. We laughed a lot. I started out really well and then crashed, so I did not win any money, but that's okay. Next month it is at my house.

Oh, Hoda, I think it would be a good idea to let the yoga leader know about the shrew--for everyone's sake. Being bitten by a shrew is not exactly in keeping with the philosophy of yoga.

Mema Jo said...

Thank you Steve for the fresh new thread with the beautiful pic of our snowy nest activity.

All the trees have dropped their snow
and the sky is clearing.

Sharon said Do NOT open any email from Thelma as she hasn't been to a
whatsoever.

Mema Jo said...

Congratulations Loretta on your feather - wear it proud.

I have email other IT at NCTC knowing that Steve was out of the office. Still cam still down.

Holler at us if you see it come up
Thx

Hoda said...

Good morning all!

My family wants me to go to the doctor because of the bite. I promised to do so.
Poor little shrew! It's heart beats 800 times per minute and must eat every half an hour or die. It faints or dies with sudden loud noise. Oh my!!! My scream was sudden and very loud!!!

I will investigate the injection JO. Thank you.
I have dark glasses but do not wear them hardly ever because the sun is not too strong here in winter and I look for vitamin E. Will see about wearing them more often. Good suggestions.

Checking box

Sandi said...

Hi all, just a quick visit from school to check the box. Good to hear that our eagles were in for a visit!

My students are starting to ask about "my eagles." Showed them the photo of the cam being installed so they could see the size of the nest compared to the man standing in it - they are intrigued.

I also showed them the Blackwater nest.

Hope everyone is staying warm today! later!

JudyEddy said...

SANDI you can show them the new eaglets in both Fl nest But I would stay away from the Ft Meyers until they eat all the dad eaglet may be to hard on the kids

Heading out for lunch with Angie

then gym later and dinner at their house

Angie and her friend Lori who daughter (Jordyn BFF) just started at the gym are going to be doing a exercise class at the same time the kids are doing their thing at the gym

JudyEddy said...

The GA nest has eggs also

grannyblt said...

Good afternoon eagle friends.

Hoda, I'm wondering what a shrew is doing inside in the dead of winter in Canada? Aren't they underground critters? I thought maybe it was of the two legged variety, as in a bad tempered woman. LOL. I would have the bite checked out.

Hoda said...

You are right in regards shrews burrowing.
They also go in sheds, barns, cellars...
They are good climbers. The theory at the studio is that it came up from the cellar foraging for food. I was still and looked like food to it. Poor thing does not like sudden loud noise. It only lives one to three years. Must eat every half an hour or it dies. It's heart beats 800 times per minute!
I am very concerned for it.
My thumb is alright. I washed my hands vigouresly once I noticed no puncture holes. I applied a thick amount of antiseptic liquid too.
On my way to walk in clinic as my American family is insisting on it. My own doctor is totally booked for today.
Thank you GRANNYBLT

Kay said...

Good Afternoon, Eagle Buds!!!

HODA, it is not typical behavior for a shrew to bite a human, unless it feels it's territory has been invaded. Thank God you're seeing a doctor, as rabies is always possible when such a critter strays from the norm. Overall your eye report is hopeful and it's a good sign that you don't have to see that specialist for another six months!

JO, appreciated the heads up re:THELMA's bogus mail. Sending e-mail is the last thing on her mind these days. My fervent prayers for her continue.

LORETTA, enjoy that feather and thank you for posting incredibly good eagle pics for us to enjoy! There must be a Juvie Camp nearby and they'll keep the nesting adults busy!

STEVE, how nice of you to think of us with a new thread when you are in beautiful Salt Lake City! Enjoy!

SHIRLEY, it's just a game and I'm so glad you and your pretty head enjoyed the evening of bridge!

I had a good morning---went to DMV for renewal of drivers license and was the only customer--could not believe it! I passed the eye test without glasses, so the cataract surgery of about 9 years ago is, in my mind, a miracle. Also a confirmation that Diabetes II has not affected my eyesight. Went on to the gas station for the first fill up since early Dec.. With my Kroger rewards card the price was 1.399 per gallon, WOW!

Temps hovering above freezing and it's dry so Penny and I enjoyed our afternoon walk!

Love and prayers for all!!!

Hoda, Sunglasses are advised because of cataracts.

JudyEddy said...

the bird is doing nestoration maybe Belle and Shep hired out side the family LOL

JudyEddy said...

so cute watching the little guy all over the nest moving twigs etc

JudyEddy said...

ODD JO when the cam came up I didn't even think about it LOL watching the sparrow which seems to be gone now or just not moving to be seen camouflage right in to the nest he does

Mema Jo said...

Ozzie & Harriet: Ozzie took little E5's remains and flew off. It seems that he dropped it near a dead tree on the farm close to the nest and the Florida Fish and Wildlife picked up the remains to run tests and see why 2 eaglets (the older one) have suddenly died 2 years in a row. I hope they find out what's happening on this nest.

JudyEddy said...

Call from Angie she wants me to pick up Jordyn at her house and take to gym she has a delivery to make after works so I will probably miss the eagle visit The do seem to be scarce today I am still outside just a swinging away

stronghunter said...

Nest resplendent in the sunshine. Fortunately, the amount of sunshine-time is increasing each day.

Sandi said...

Both landed in the nest together, though there was some cam shaking and some squawking a few seconds before the landing. Belle arrived with food. Good sign! Dinner in the nest!

Sandi said...

It could be that Shep brought the food (fish, I think) to the tree, where there was a hand-off). That would account for the noise I heard before they both landed.

Belle is chowing down!

Sandi said...

Poof Shep.

Belle is still eating.

Sandi said...

And Shep is back with new flugg.

Moving sticks while Belle continues to eat dinner.

Now, Shep is sneaking a piece of fish - watch it, buddy! Don't mess with Miss Belle!

Sandi said...

Looked like Belle at the whole fish, but Shep is now finding a few pieces.

Sandi said...

Poof one (Shep I think).

stronghunter said...

Yay, I am seeing the eagles. One poofed. I was thinking Belle, too.

Janet said...

good evening to all.

yanno, when I first read that hoda was bitten by a shrew....I thought maybe it was a typo...or a euphemism for JUFIE.....but no, oh, no, it seems our HODA, always the adventurer was bitten by a real shrew.....(head shaking)....now I am not a shrew expert, but doesn't seem to me a shrew, as tiny as they are, should not be biting a human! I think seeing a dr might not be a bad idea...glad you are going.

chilly cloudy day here today. glad to have been at work.

I went down stairs earlier to get something out of the freezer, noticed Michael's cat had no food/water. well that won't do. so I fed her and put water in her bowl.

she had spilled a bit of food, so I went to pick it up and she attacked my hand....and then, started biting my houseshoes. I do believe she thought I wanted to eat her food. and she wasn't playing; she had that ticked off cat look. lol. I went upstairs, got the cat nip and we made friends again.

about time to feed the furbutts. I made Brunswick stew for the humans.

hope everyone has a great day and a lovely evening!

stronghunter said...

I mean the one still in the nest is Belle. Shep poofed.

Sandi said...

And back to 2!

And eagle sex!!

stronghunter said...

This evening, I mentioned the Hoda/Shrew event to Kathryn. She immediately said. "Oh that sounds like a fairy tale." Then she started spouting lines of poetry.

The Corpse Pose

There was a French teacher
named Hoda,

Who really enjoyed doing yoga--

As twisty as she could do.

Along came a shrew.

It didn't know what to do.

She was flat on the floor;

He thought she was no more.

So he checked with a nibble or two.

Dr's Report:
Fine young lad he was.
Did his homework before I arrived at his door.
Rabies a concern only in the sense that animals do not attack unless provoked and this is an indication of possible rabies.
Shrews are low risk on rabies. Western Canada has not had a case of rabies for over twenty five years.
Once it is reported it is out of my hands, if he takes it to centre of disease control. They immediately take me to hook me up to an IV that could cause an allergic reaction because of my auto-immune disease.
They will also insist I get vaccinated and that too could cause problems. If I had a reaction to either or both I could die.
If I got rabies and I was not treated I will for sure die!!!

OK THEN!!! this required my looking at things one step at a time.

I told him what I did immediately afterwards. He was concerned about infection more than rabies. No sign of infection. He checked my thumb, my nail and my joints and there are no problems. I am to watch it tonight and if any thing at all changes I am to go to the emergency room at the hospital...
I opted to not involve the centre of disease control. He concurred. We both thought that that would be an over reaction on their part.

If I was to go to emergency room tonight I will have to take the IV and I will not have a choice. It is one that directs towards Auto Immune disease and it most always causes an allergic reaction. Once this process is underway I will also have to take the vaccine and I will have no choice...

I am hoping for no drama and no need to go to the hospital.

I feel fine and with energy.
I am monitoring inflammation, fever, swelling and breathing...all is normal...
Thank God.
Thank you all.
I reported to my American Family and they are all good by it and agreed with the choices I made...

The poor chap was simply hungry.

stronghunter said...

I agree, Hoda. I would hate to see you subjected to all of the stuff that could happen if you report it.

I am glad you enjoyed the poem. I posted it on Kathryn's Timeline.

stronghunter said...

I will say that my daughter Susan has had the rabies vaccine because of her volunteer job as a rehabber. She had no problems, but she does not have an auto-immune disease.

stronghunter said...

Am thinking I will sleep better tonight if I take one of my pain pills.

Going to say good night now and wish everyone SED. :)

Mema Jo said...

Hoda - I feel you are going to be fine - I am glad you seeked your doctor's opinion.

That to all the comments on this evening's visit.

Sandi, I agree that eating in the nest is a great sign. Hoping for the sleep over by Belle to come as the next step - then bring on the egg(s) ! Remember how Shep brings lots of fishes for Belle before she settles down for the season in the egg cupl

Janet, meant to say something about that trash can. I recently looked at them, but refused to pay that much money for something to put garbage in! Opted for a plastic one that is gray like stainless and has a lid - works for me. My trash can is in a very inconspicuous place - partially under the countertop.

Hoda, I would have declined further treatment also. Just keep a close eye on it. A friend of mine and her mother in law were bitten by a bat that had gotten into a boot. They had to go through all sorts of health dept. Riga-moral. When Joann got insurance bill summary, the ER bill was $13,000. That is thousand.

I had one of those trash cans that after a couple of years seemed to get rusty spots on the inside. Was pretty pricy too. Don't know if I would do it again.

JO, wishing ED a very happy birthday and hoping his pizza party can go forward as planned!

Yes, I agree eating in the tree-top cafe is a good sign. Just hope they wait until after snow.

Kennedy Center tonight. Interesting coincidence. A couple that have seats across the aisle from us (I call them our theater friends of 32 years) are very nice. Her name is Gigi. We are seeing Gigi tonight both across the aisle and on the stage.

Okay, off to putter around. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good evening all - it's the weekend!!! :)

Long week, even though it was only a 4-day one. As of this afternoon, I now have 2 parents "gunning for me!" Maybe they would be happier if I stopped "bothering their children" and insisting that they do their work and just let them fail the 8th grade?? Truly, the district simply doesn't pay me enough to put up with this BS!

Hoda, you are absolutely spot-on about Yemen - I thank God every day that my boy is home from that miserable place. Brian actually complained a few months ago about the income that he lost by being sent back to the states early (he got a lot of hazard pay for living and working in Yemen). I said, "Just tell me how much you lost and I'll write you a check!!" These young people who think they are bullet-proof - what's a mom to do??

Time to feed people and pets - looks like more yucky weather coming tonight and tomorrow.
Mostly rain here with maybe some wet snow mixed in. Then another storm coming Sunday night into Monday.

its been a damp, dreary, drippy cold day. colder air coming in tonight and other parts of TN getting snow, but not us.

SANDI: it took me nearly 2 years to buy that silly trashcan. $40 I paid but my trashcan is visible and I decided that its okay for me to splurge on things once in a while that are just pretty and make the house prettier. I am starting to save now to replace the flooring in the kitchen. :) :) :)

that is exciting to me. my kitchen floor is white with some light blue. beautiful except when you have to live with it.

Gigi (both the play and our across the aisle friend) were good to see. Lots of talent in the play. Good to see our friend as she was seriously ill for three months (loss of 30lbs in 60 days).

Saw former VA governor Robb and wife Lynda. Heard a woman say something about catching the elevator, held the door, realized who joined us. She is still wearing her hair the way she did as a teen in the Wh. House. Looks a bit frumpy. He's showing his age. Last time we saw them they were there to see Nixon (the play).

Weather is truly nassy (which is even worse than nasty). Rain, sleet, fog.

I am very glad he is out of there.

I swear, this school year is the worst ever. As a teacher, you expect difficult kids - that's the nature of the game. But demanding parents, unprofessional colleagues, and an unsupportive administration is such an unbearable combination to have to deal with on top of difficult students. 89 teaching days seems like a lifetime away. I have NEVER in my 31 years taken "R&R days," but I may have to do that in February and March - like maybe 2 Fridays each month - for my mental health.

Snow in Nashville? Someone should compose a Snow in Nashville song for the Grand Ole Oprey. lol

Saw snow in the nest which was otherwise MT.

Sandi, take those mental health days.

Hoda, have a great day with yoga and skiing.

No FB but glad to see the comment that Thelma seems to be improving.

Off for coffee, the newspaper, and to finish a library book.

Have a wonderful, warm, and safe day everyone.

Good "slushy" morning to all ♥
And they say there is more to come tomorrow! It snowed on my party!

I guess I was just a few minutes late
and missed our Royal Couple. No I didn't there is one in the nest right now. Could be eating... and I think it is Belle.

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

SANDI, take those Mental Health Days and enjoy. Take as many as they allow in that school system. You need to get through the 89 days with your brain in tact and ready for a wonderful transition!

JUDIE, glad you had a good Gigi evening! That's a delightful story!

Thanks for all eagle in the nest reports! I'm enjoying every glimpse I get of our regal pair!

The kids will be here at noon to take me to our favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. (In Grandview, for SHIRLEY's benefit) Seth will be with me this evening and will leave early tomorrow as he has a job interview on campus at noon. Fingers crossed on that!

Have a Super Saturday everyone, even if it is slushy and mushy outside!

Love and prayers for all!!!
