Good afternoon everyone.

Had to be out this morning so now catching up.

So nice to see that both Paula and Margy stopped by for a visit. Pleasant surprise.

Paula, congratulations to Michael and his bride. Enjoy the occasion.

Wishing Glo a wonderful visit to bear country.

Hoda, if you hear sobbing in the night you will know your bicycle is sad to be put away for the winter.

Maybe Shirley's car was still on DST and just did not want to wake up. Seriously hope the problem will not be costly.

Congratulations to Jo on the upcoming 56th anniversary.

Margy? What is Empyreal!! Are you typing in tongues?

Lolly, Jospeph will enjoy basketball and soccer and the band. Great variety.

Headed to put my feet up so I can pretend to be Jo. BBL

I agree Judy that the grass is a
great comfy flooring for the nest.
Won't get muddy in the rain and snow.

Missed seeing eagles again. Oh well there is tomorrow. Maybe the grass is some sort of weed that was nipped by the frost?

When I worked for HISD in an elementary school, there was school on Election Day. The voting booths were in one end of a short hallway and the students (KDG) were relocated that day.

good evening all

Watch out the deer are on the move. A truck in front of me hit a six point buck tonight. He was okay but the grill was demolished. I stopped behind him and put on my four ways. He called his son to come get the deer who did die. At least he will be put to good use. It was hard to see him suffer but he didn't suffer for too long. I am very fortunate the guy in the truck hit the deer and not me.

janet congratz on your new puppy he looks like a cutie.

nick is wondering why it is so dark out. I hate the time change except I do get up on time. Going to put nicks blinking light on his collar and take him for a walk... Since the winds have calm down its not too bad out.

paula eagleholic said...

well we had a lovely walk... The moon is in an out of the clouds so it was somewhat moonlit walk.
So I haven't had a chance really to watch our nest. My internet its all on my phone although I can connect my computer to it. But between Larry and I we are really using the gigs. Now I know how Lori and lynne felt.

Well got to go get some chores done and watch the blacklist at 10. Anyone else watch it?

I really like this talk to text much easier than typing.

stronghunter said...

Good evening,

Turns out the battery was the problem with my car. I was very impressed with the repair shop because I got there at about 12:00 and made a 12:30 doctor's appointment.

Judie said...

Evenin' all.

Paula, glad you were not involved with personal injury or car damage. Very sorry, of course, for the deer.

Am headed across the hallway to put my feet up, again, and let my eyes get ready for sleep.

Sandperson will be packing up and on the way and night light will be on at 11pm.

Restful sleep for all.

good evening all. THANKS STEVE for the new thread.

JUDYE: glad you found you phone.

PAULA; glad you are okay!!!!

THANKS to ALL for the congrats on Dax. He is fitting in great. Not nippy ... very sweet and cuddly.

Its been a very busy day. Went and did the grocery shopping. With the $$ from the Walmart savings catcher (yes, I got it back, all $40. 0f it!) and coupons, I saved about $60!

Then it was put the groceries away time....had lots of help so that wasn't bad.

Chelsea and Lorelei stopped by.

Now its evening. Watch some tv and relaxing!

Hope everyone has had a great day! Hugs!

paula eagleholic said...

haven't tried the savings catcher yet janet..might have to give it a try

Okay, I have a mystery to present:

Two boys from the neighborhood came by and asked for an egg. "Why do you want an egg?" I asked.

"I want to eat it," Kid answered.

I said no. I did not hear anything like "My mom is cooking dinner and needs an egg."

Now, friends, what in heck would those boys be wanting with an egg here a few nights after Halloween?

stronghunter said...

And with that, I will be saying SED to all of my friends.

Hoda said...

SHIRLEY, vandalism here happens either before or after Halloween.

Thank God PAULA you were not the one who hit the deer. Glad the meat is going to be dressed and used.

We are doing the rain routine till Friday...

Darker much darker when I went to my afternoon Yoga class.

Stay well all.

Good Morning Eagle Buds

OOPS STILL CAM IS STUCK AGAIN ON 534AM

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends. The dogs let me sleep in til 6:10am - I really do wish they understood "days off."

Yesterday was pretty chilly but today is supposed to warm up. The winds over the weekend and then the cold temps Sunday night finally killed all of my summer flowers in pots. So I'll use my day off today to empty all the pots and put them away.

Denny uses the blower on the leaves on the driveways every 2-3 days but there are still plenty more to fall.

Margy and Paula, great to see you on the blog yesterday - please visit more often.

Judie, how is the new lawn doing? Any more destruction?

Shirley, I bet you can figure out where that egg would have gone, and it wouldn't have been in any kid's stomach.

Got an email from my sister-in-law yesterday "just asking" about a .38 revolver that Mom had supposedly told my brother he could have when she died. The revolver belonged to our grandfather. It was in a shoebox in Mom's closet and Mom had shown Brian exactly where it was in her closet and specifically told him it was his after she died - the conversation took place in January of 2013, shortly after she was diagnosed with the last aneurysm and she elected not to have it repaired.

Brian had gone to visit Mom before going back to Tanzania and they were going through old family photos b/c Brian was just starting to research the family on ancestry.com. Fortunately, he took photos of the gun in his hand in Mom's bedroom that evening so he could trace the serial number and find out how old the gun was.

I called Brian last night to talk about Jane's email and he told me about the photos. I asked him to email one of them to me, and forwarded it to my brother and sister-in-law along with Brian's emailed explanation that his grandmother had specifically stated that she wanted him to have that gun and that's who was keeping it. Period. Why would my sister-in-law bring it up now, after all this time? I thought I was finished being angry with my brother but Jane's email got me revved up again.

Not sure if I mentioned this on Sunday but we had a student overdose on heroin in the bathroom at the dance last Friday. He is currently on 10-day suspension pending a police investigation; he will probably be expelled and be sent to an alternative school. The kids were very close-mouthed about the whole incident in school yesterday. We're guessing there were more kids involved and they don't want to tell on anyone else. Middle schools are becoming such scary places. I didn't even know you could get heroin in pill form!

OK, I have rambled on enough - making up for not being on the blog over the weekend, I guess.

Have a great day all.

Janet said...

good grief! SANDI! that's awful! now, I remember when I was in 7th grade, a "friend" took a handful of pills, whatever another "friend" had gotten from "somewhere:. I remember being in the in the lunchroom when she collapsed. another girl and I "narked" told on them....and thus ruined any chance of having any friends from that day forward...but she lived.

heading to work today. tom is off. gonna let livvy sleep a little.

she seems to be adjusting to Dax. she wasn't pleased.

anywho, gotta feed everyone...thinking of each of you.

have a great day!

Sandi, what a very unpleasant situation with your brother and sister-in-law. Sure hope it all settles down quickly. Also hope the student who overdosed gets help. Oh, the lawn - no further damage and the grass is growing nicely.

Janet, so happy your coupons were returned. Did not expect that to happen. Also nice that Dax is blending with the family.

Hope Lolly gets some rain.

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

JO, I'm with you on the time change! Penny's inner clock does not agree with it at all, so we're going by her's.

SANDI, I'm with the others in being appalled and amazed by the OD incident and by your SIL's message. Glad Brian will keep the gun in his possession. He will prize it's antique value in accordance with your dear Mother's wishes.

JUDIE, glad the lawn is thriving and happy to hear you're venturing out to vote. I voted via absentee ballot days ago. The turnout in this Mid-term election will be very disappointing, but I still believe in voicing my opinion in every election.

MARGY n' PAULA, tickled pink to see you here again!

Yesterday's aquatic exercise did me in again--I don't think I checked in with y'all. Guess the "no pain, no gain" adage is true and that my aches prove how badly my bod needs the workout. I feel real good while in the water which, thankfully, is tepid and comfortable.

Penny and I are enjoying a gorgeous Fall day---now 59° so will top out in the mid to high 60's. Wahoo!

Love and Prayers for all!!!

Good morning! We had a load of wood delivered and stacked this morning and now the rain has started!!!! Now let's see how long it lasts. Temp is also dropping. Presently 60.

So, I will enjoy the day inside, thinking of all I accomplished yesterday.😄

This summer we called and called the builder of our ponds. He finally returned our call and in late July came and looked at the pond. We cleaned the upper pond and wanted him to clean the lower pond. He had a few projects ahead of us, or so he said. We never heard from him. Dear patient Jack did not call. I finally talked him into calling and again we waited for a return call. It's November!!! So, yesterday we called a pond cleaning service. An interesting lady came out and hopefully will be cleaning the pond next week. I am a little dubious about her. Would rather have he guy who built the pond work on it. We really like him, but not so much his boss, the owner.

Have a wild, big eyed cat running around the house growling! She is full of it this morning!

Jo, is your kitty still showing up?

Temp is now down to 58!

Not surprised SANDI as to the over dose.
15 years ago, before I retired, I raised the flag on drugs and prostitution in the elementary school in our town. I was a high school teacher. Based on what I was hearing in the hallways I had concerns. Our district refused to do anything about it saying I was over reacting.
It turns out I was not! High school boys were grooming and pimping! What is a senior doing dating a grade five student I had asked the district!!!

It bothers me.

Rainy day here.

Good afternoon,

Bowled and then voted. I had to chase around to find the correct place to vote. Two schools next door to each other. Voting at both. I seem to manage to go to the wrong one first. Oh well, not a big deal.

Yes, I found the book, Judy. I had the book in addition to the same story on CD's so I can listen when I am in the car, so I finished it in the car before I located the book.

So nice to be hearing from Margy and Paula again.

stronghunter said...

Good question, Hoda. I agree that a senior in high school should not be dating a 5th grader. Gracious sakes.

Hope the kid with the overdose recovers and gets help, Sandi. Really sad situation. Very sad that the drugs are being made available to these young kids.

Glad it wasn't you who hit the deer, Paula. We were right behind someone who hit a deer years ago. Poor guy was so upset that he'd damaged his nice car that he didn't even turn the engine off, and there was water from the radiator running all over the street. My husband reached into his car and turned the engine off before more damage was done.

Kit is still coming around - Always comes in to eat eat eat and drink his milk. He likes to follow hubby when he is in during the evening hours. He will sleep on my stand next to my recliner and then if I need to get up to go potty he runs to the back door.. at times it is only 5am but I let him out if the weather is good. It is 68° now and no wind. Rather pleasant. Kit (No Name Yet) does use the litter box.

Probably won't be any birds, but just seeing the nest again without crawling through the jungle will be special!!

I have also reprinted many coupons as they come out weekly. I would have had a bit more, butdon't feel so badly now. and yes, the new binder has my first ne and phone # in it.

it puzzles me though what happened to the last one.....

They kept it and going to check it tomorrow. I called and told Laurel that now I was going to have to shop for her birthday. No problem, she told me, she would gladly take $100 cash to buy clothes! Good Afternoon Eaglebuds. Had an appt. at Georgetown & just got home to go to Chelsea.
Konked out last night, but gotta tell you my eagle nest exploring results from TU PM. Parked car near nest, walked down the road 'til I could see nest. Then a car drove on down behind me and a GIANT bird flew out of trees in front and to left of nest tree! At first I figured it was a vulture, but NO. This eagle flew past and behind the nest into the tree edge. Of course camera was still in the bag, but I later took a couple pics of nest, crawled thru the jungle, but still never saw the landed bird. We need a tree trimmer!!!
Might put a nest pic in Nook this PM.
Prayers for good healthy day for ALL ☺ ♥

Good afternoon my eagle budlets. I feel so out of touch with everybody. Can someone please post the happenings of the last couple of months? Just kidding. I pray everyone is okay.

Sad to hear about the kid overdosing. I am not sure I agree with expelling the kid. I think removing them from the school and making them feel even more different than they did before (I know a lot of kids do dope just to feel like they belong), maybe treat the problem instead, which is addiction.

Anyway, I love us and miss everybody.

Good afternoon. No eagle in nest right now, but it certainly is promising when they visit mid day.

Haven't done anything noteworthy this week. Today I made a Boston Cream Pie-cake for a meeting tomorrow. The chairman of the committee always seems to come up with refreshments that no one has made in years. We all agreed to make it via cans and mixes. I was doing fine until I decided the chocolate topping(frosting from a can) was too thick and decided to thin it a bit. Now it is not setting up, but oh well. Maybe they will have me bring the nuts and mints next time.
Lolly, I found the mink collar, but my William ignored it. I think I'll rub some catnip on it.

grannyblt said...

Hoda, you need to ask Sandi about your cleaning problem. I seem to remember that she cleans the bathroom fixtures with vodka and may have a good tip for you. Hope my mind isn't playing tricks on me about that one.

Lolly said...

Lynne, wonder why your kitty ignored the collar. I bought the collar for a suit I made while in college. Have not worn in in over 45 years. LOL Once years ago, our kitty, Ah So, tried to kill it. He loved it but I would not let him have it. After all it was mink and I paid $10 for it!! Dug it out and Skippi has gone ape over it. I also made her a bed out of an old sweatshirt of Jack's. She climbed into the bed while I was still sewing it up. She is asleep now in it. Victory!

Since I am not working around the house I have the still cam up. Time for me to get an eagle fix!

Hoda...not sure I understand. The underside of the Vent hood? I use a degreaser and also have a filter to remove and clean in soapy water.

good afternoon to all.

its been a good day.

work was fine. glad to be back to work on Wednesday!

JUDIE: Sable is declining. The prednisone used to perk her up, but she's gone back to the lay around all the time. She lifts her head, checks things out....goes out, potties, gets up to eat and then back asleep. She doesn't seem to be in pain. Very excited when one of us eats something that might interest her (uh, anything). But she's slipped/fallen about 1 or 2x a week lately....just don't know. not thinking its time...yet but it is coming. she looks more skeletal, muscles are atrophying.

Thank you for asking. For now, its status quo.

She is fine with Dax. They sniff noses and he really doesn't bother her.

I want to snap a pix with the two of them, though.

Mr. Beano was not pleased that Dax was in the bed with us last night. He did finally settle down and snuggle against my back as per the usual.

Dax was snuggled against my stomach, in case you were wondering.

Livvy said she's not feeling well today and is back asleep. Not sure if she picked up a virus from over @ Chelsea's or if she is over tired.

I made a soup for today. It has black beans, lentils, carrots, onion, and I added some kilbasa to it. It also has garlic, cumin, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and oregano. It smells wonderful Good day for soup. Rainy. Coolish. Gonna make some corn bread as well.

Will check in later ya'll...hugs to all!

JudyEddy said...

HELLOOO honey I am home how was your day

SIS the soup sounds good I shall be right over I will bring cornbread LOL
The vet told us that animals don't usually show pain, due to if they were in the wild then they would be targets He said at times they suffer in silence so sad

HOPE LIVVY feels better pronto

LOLLY what is the name of the degreaser?
I remove the vents and clean them with soap, water and vinegar... I hardly use any grease when I cook, but the underside of the fan side paneling is hard to clean. With my arms up I do not have much power and it is awkward. So if you know of a cleaner/degreaser that would help me let me know. Environmentally friendly would be great! None allergy trigger would be heaven. I could wear a mask.
Vodka oh I remember vodka! Those days are looooong gone. I laughed when SANDI wrote about that...not sure how much she drank and how much went into cleaning.

Sandi said...

Hi all!

Hoda, try a product called Krud Kutter. It's a cleaner/degreaser/stain remover. The front of the bottle says it's "non-toxic, Earth friendly and biodegradable." The back calls it "a proprietary blend of biodegradable surfactants, detergents, and emulsifiers, in a water-based solution. No petroleum solvents, bleach, or ammonia." Comes in a non-aerosol spray. Good luck with that range hood!

Four more arrests have been/are being made for possessing and distributing drugs at school. One of my special ed. students was selling the stuff in the bathroom - some type of heroin in a tablet form that dissolves under the tongue. He will not be back in school this year.

Shar, I understand your point of view but middle schools really MUST have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to buying, selling, and using illegal drugs. And expulsion doesn't mean the kids are out on the streets. It means they will attend an alternative school for 180 days (a full school year) where counseling is part of every school day.

Need to finish fixing dinner. Bye!

So excited! On the news.....an eagle nest about an hour away. They built last year on a power tower. After they raised their family the electric company cut out a big section of the tower, wrapped up the nest to protect it, and moved it to a new tower built for them! Awesome! Eagles returned and went to old tower and showed signs of building a new nest, but recently flew to their nest on the new tower! Also they have a solar powered cam!! I have a meeting to go to, but will work on getting the cam info. We are talking about going to find the nest. It is in a wetlands area! smart Eagles.,

JudyEddy said...

OH LOLLY so eagleciting that you found a nest

Sandi, thanks so much for the clarification. So they do treat the problem. That is awesome and I do understand the zero tolerance policy. It is just nuts at the things happening in middle school. Everyone on here knows my history, so I will tell you that I was 11 years old when I smoked a joint for the first time and 12 when I drank my first beer. I will say the drugs that were available in my day are nothing compared to what these children are getting into now. So sad. I also know that when I was in the 8th grade, one of my dearest friends, Lisa Oberson, had gotten into huffing Pam (aerosol) from a bag. I was always fearful of that for some reason. Her dad came home one night about midnight and found her dead on her couch, with the can of Pam and the bag right beside her. She was such a beautiful girl, such a wasted life.

Good Evening Friends,
Another update on GG. Last night, she was transferred to a skilled nursing home for rehabilitation. They will give her therapy twice a day for 6 days a week. She is now eating soft foods, she can get her water off her tray and sip it through a straw without too much difficulty. Today, she smiled at everyone who came into her room, whereas, she hadn't been smiling at anyone but me and Karla. I do have hopes that she may improve enough to go home with Hospice care. We shall see. Prayers would be appreciated that she may be with us a while longer!
Love to all ♥
