Hey Shilrey! LOL. Sorry. SHIRLEY.

Darn, sleep won't come. Missed the sandman.

Mornin' Thelma and Shirley.

Guess I'm up for the day. Now what can I get into today. ;-)

Heard from niece, she likes the idea of the tortellini and broccoli salad. Now I have to go to the grossery store.

stronghunter said...

Definitely a bad traffic week for commuters from Fredericksburg. Just got the traffic report on the news. There were two accidents--one on Rt. 3 and another one on I-95.

stronghunter said...

Oh my, Lindsey Lohan is in trouble again.

Judie said...

Good morning everyone.

I apologize for not keeping up with all the activities. It is not because I am uninterested or uncaring. Just have too much to take care of these days. Consequently, I have decided to take some mental health time this afternoon and tomorrow and make a day trip to see the Fall colors.

The night light will be on and I am leaving instructions for the sandperson to visit each of you according to the time you choose.

Hoping everyone will enjoy the weekend and be safe. Hugs♥

Thanks Lori.

Morning PA Nana.

Lohan can't seem to get that surrender it takes to begin the journey of living clean. Yes she is, again in trouble Stronghunter.

T-Bird said...

Morning Judi.

T-Bird said...

I will say good-bye my friends. Catch you later. Remember it is TGIF-you can do it. : )

PA Nana said...

Mornin' Judie. Have a lovely leaf trip.

Catch ya later Thelma. Have a good one.

PA Nana said...

Lohan in trouble again?! What doesn't she understand? Have to check the news.

Lori O. said...

Diann, Lindsay doesn't understand that she really is like everyone else and now she has to pay the piper. She will certainly get jail time at a hearing on Nov. 2, but it'll have to be long enough to keep her there a good while, or she'll just walk the same day because of over-crowding in California's jails.

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning Eagle Friends. I see I need to read a few comments to play catch up or is that "ketchup".

Lori O. said...

Lynne, I could not believe what you said about your car dealer messing up again. Do not give him another chance, and as Lynn said, report him when this mess is over.

hedgie said...

Good Fri. morning. Catching up, slowly but surely. Did not have a good night, and a not-so good start to the day, either. Knee is AWFUL!

Diann, sure hope you get to feeling much better. Bad enough to have pain, but for meds to cause MORE trouble is a real shame.
Why not make Lolly's Pizza Casserole for your reunion??!!

Someone asked yesterday---and I don't remember seeing an answer---about Lori being GLori: no, her name isn't Glori----she's a morning Lori, so she is a glory!

DanaMo, what an awful ordeal for your friend to go through. So if they have started the rabies shots, then guess they have not captured the offending dog. :( Poor girl. Prayers for her.

hedgie said...

Your Mrs. Carver sounds like quite a lady, Shirley! May she RIP.

Lori O. said...

Thanks for catching my lack of response. You have the best memory!
((((Big first of the morning HUGS)))) for you and Kay, today.

hedgie said...

95 just keeps getting worse and worse, doesn't it Shirley?

Oh, i see that Diann came up with a meal plan! Broccoli---ugh!

Lori and Thelma: I think Beck will do well. The Heisman Trophy dude won't scare him! He should have been the starting QB to begin with, IMHO.

Lohan is a piece of work, isn't she? I hope this judge DOES lock her up for a year!

stronghunter said...

Yes, Lynn, I remember meeting Ruth Carver at community meetings and such. She always had a kind word.

hedgie said...

It is chilly....and we've had some spitting rain. Looks like the sun is finally trying to pop out from behind the clouds. No wind to speak of......

Judie, enjoy your little fall trek. Hope the colors are pretty! Just mostly browns and dull yellows here.

Lori O. said...

Has this ever happened to anyone? I've always been a shoe person, meaning I was not a barefoot girl. And, now in the past two weeks, especially at work, I get hot (Flash?) and I can't stand wearing shoes. Weird?

hedgie said...

DanaMo---and anyone else in Hagerstown area----The Party Store is closing. If you shop there, better go now!

stronghunter said...

Yes, I seem to remember that it would usually take about an hour to get from Fredericksburg to the DC area when we first came here. Boy, you can't count on that anymore.

hedgie said...

Small earthquakes in San Fran and San Antonio......must be San week!

stronghunter said...

Forty-eight degrees here now. Supposed to go up into the 60's later today.

stronghunter said...

Have an enjoyable weekend, Judie. It promises to be a nice one.

hedgie said...

Lori, is that what you call hot-footing it???!!!! LOL! I hate shoes!! Do your feet actually sweat when you get that hot flash??

hedgie said...

I cannot seem to get organized here in the packing.....too many things that I can't pack til the last minute.

stronghunter said...

I have had lots of mega-hot flashes, but it has never affected my feet. I have steamed up my glasses, steamed up the car windows, had to stop and take off a jacket, but never needed to remove my shoes.

Lori, that is different.

DanaMo said...

Here is what my friend Lauren posted on Facebook. "the short story, a neighbors dog got out and charged at us as i walked scout, he went for scout and it was awful, I tried to kick the dog to get him off and that was when he sunk his teeth im me...the worst part is these neighbors who are "upstanding citizens" let the rabies vaccine lapse...so Scout and I have multiple holes in us, plus I have multiple shots and also had to get tetnus...I feel bad about not protecting scout, and i had to miss coltons play...but thank you it was good to know people were thinking of us"

@@@@@@@@@@@@@

GOOD morninG,
everyonE.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Don't know what's happening with the weather today in So Cal. It was supposed to get down to maybe 53 last night, but 62° at about 3 this morning is about as low as it got.

Now it's barely sunrise and it's 67°, which is peculiar since the max is supposed to be 64 today!!??

C(°Ù¿°)D Jim

stronghunter said...

Good morning, Jim. Sixty-something degrees sounds nice, regardless of the forecast. We are supposed to get up into the sixties today.

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning - and a cold one at that.
Jim, you just can't trust the weatherman
to be 100% correct with the forecast. It
feels like SN**W out there and I am sure it is happening in the higher elevations.

Shirley, on FB and now on your blog, the
pictures of Hunter shows how happy happy
he was with the trip.

Kay said...

Good Morning ! At least I made it while it still is morning--sorry I missed the Early Birds--needed more rest after yesterday with the boys, I guess.

Mega prayers being said for LYNN's knee, DIANN's pain and swelling, DANAMO's friend Lauren and yes, even the pathetic Lindsay Lohan who is so very ill.

JUDIE, I'm a firm believer in the need to take Mental Health days. May the Fall colors soothe and refresh you !

SHIRLEY, thanks for sharing Mrs. Carver with us ! God rest her beautiful soul. Love the pics of your All American boy with eyes so blue and that cute sprinkling of freckles on his face. He has a very special grandmother in you !

Mema Jo said...

Diann and Lori - special emails for you

Lolly said...

Good morning! Another beautiful day here, though not as cold. Presently 62 and sun shiney!☺

Prayers for you friend, DanaMo. What a horrible ordeal for her and Scout!!

Know what you mean about last minute packing, Lynn. You are sooo ready to go!!!!!!!!!Hope you have a wonderful relaxing time. When do you return?

Need to do some shopping today. Going to make some more decorated burp cloths, so need to get out and buy some prefold diapers. Also, Sunday is our dessert auction at church. Need to buy ingredients to bake!

Lolly said...

Jo, meant to email you. You can turn my Momster mail back on!

Lolly said...

Oh, and Thanks!☺

Kay said...

PAULA, can't imagine why DANA won't tell us how she selected the unique name, Raschida, for her lovely daughter. Perhaps it is a variant spelling of Rashida, an Arabic name meaning Rightly Guided. Hope Raschida had a wonderful birthday and that she'll be rightly guided for many more years ! DANA, the fact that we've asked is only a compliment. You've raised a daughter to be proud of---reminds me of the many dear young women who came to draw my blood during the recent hospitalization--God bless them all and God bless your Raschida !

hedgie said...

I am finally organized. All "satchels/cases" lined up, and getting stuff packed that can be now. One load of clothes in dryer and last one ready to go in.

And Ch's bro is coming to cut wood, but is going to blow leaves first, so I don't have to do that.

Having dinner out with a friend tonight. Still haven't run truck through carwash....eye on the weather....may wait til tomorrow as it sure looks dubious out.

wvgal_dana said...

ShirleyIt is doing it again - not letting me leave a ccomment. So here is my comment:

What a wonderful day Hunter must have had. We did something but smaller like that when Raschida was little.

What treasurers did Hunter find????

Kay said...

LYNN, are you driving to the OBX alone---with Liesl, that is ? Will you be out of touch during your time there or are you taking the laptop along ?

Kay said...

LOLLY, what cha' gonna bake for the auction ? How about a pumpkin and cream cheese pie ? ☺ Oops, that might not be funny to you.:(

wvgal_dana said...

ShirleyAgain would not let me comment on the pictures at the Science Museum. Here is my comment:

The Science Museum looks like so much fun. I wouldn't mind do that myself lol

Kay said...

LORI, that morning hug did not go unnoticed ! I love my daily hugs from you !♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I have a dog who goes to the door and sneezes when she wants out. Interesting.

hedgie said...

Margy, Liesl has her own BIG shopping bag!!! Her beddie-bye , I THINK, will roll up to fit in with her toys, etc.!
I forgot to buy FOOD----there is probably enough, at least I hope so.

Lolly said...

Have been procrastinating long enough!!! This computer can really eat up ones day! Yikes!

LOL Kay!!! That is funny about the pie....I can laugh about it as it was not the pie Joseph had requested. If it had been that pie, I would have made another....fast!

I am off....have a grrrrrrrrreat day!☺♥

hedgie said...

Fire brick is what is cracked. Remedy is a stainless steel flue liner.

Agree, Shirley....blog captions tend to have a min d of their own!!

hedgie said...

Lolly, we come back on the 30th.

hedgie said...

Jim, weather is just plain strange everywhere!!! But I would love your 60's right now.....Has backed off here to 48!

hedgie said...

Kay, taking my truck, but Frank does the driving--he loves my Avalanche!! So Irene and I are just along for the ride. Suits me---I like to be able to gawk sometimes!

hedgie said...

Oh, yes....free WIFI, so I'll be taking the laptop!!

Kay said...

LYNN, yippee on the free WIFI ! Glad you have a good driver in Frank and can sit back and enjoy the scenery ! My stepson had a 2003Avalanche and loved it---went to his ex in a 2007 divorce. Great combo at times when a truck bed is needed.

Mema Jo said...

Lolly - I took care of your Momster mail and thank you because I forgot you
had me turn it off.

Hoda said...

Good morning/ good afternoon all.

I am worried LORI because JO had to get permission to go to NCTC and gavea list in for security. If DIANN was not on this list she will not be able to enter. My impression/understanding is we can not just show up.

Cool morning colours here and it is chilly. 45 degrees F.I still have flowers in the flower pots and maybe this weekend I will find the time to take them apart.

OH MY!!! Am I stiff from the exercise class last night!!! I have to move around to get rid of the stiffness...

All the Councillor Candidates that I had to phone to participate in the All Candidates Forum that CFUW is organising have confirmed their attendance. This is good. I am pleased, the last one just phoned now...she was in ROME and just got back...

I go to yoga and then to lunch with a friend, at tw in the afternoon, and then I have some things to organise this afternoon... LIFE is GOOD.

LYNN thinking of you as you prepare your trip and I smiled with LIESL having her own things to be packed too...YOU ARE SUCH A GOOOOOOOODDDDDD MOM.

SHIRLEY I hope KATHRYN is out of the traffic jam by now...do they understand at work when she shows up late because of the road conditions?

hedgie said...

Hoda, not to worry! I'm sure Jo can shoot an email to Thelma or Steve adding Diann and Jim to the list as possibles!

Kay, I've never had my Avalanche "apart"---no need....and too much work for me anyway. I would worry that it might strt to leak after it was "re-assembled." I don't think that Bill has ever had his apart, either!

wvgal_dana said...

Sorry I thought I had told the story of how my daughter got her name. I had chosen the name "Shelly". Husband at the time we were still trying to decide on a girls name. He would NOT pick out a boys name. My grandmother said it would be a girl. Raschida's biological dad said a "girl". Anyway he seen a picture of a girl with her name under the picture. She was Indian Cherokee he felt for sure. See he and his family said there is Cherokee somewhere back in the family. I took the name and picture to an English teacher I knew to get how to pronounce it. She said Raschida as it was spelt but some people were going to call her Rashida if we use that name which would make it Arabic. So I wrote the magazine with a copy of the picture and the name asking if they could locate her and give her my address and why. I was wanting to know if she was real Cherokee. She wrote me back and said she was. We wrote each other for awhile. Then the letters just came back unopened with no forwarding address.

I was told by her that the name means "One who guides one on the right path".

So before birth we decided on the name Raschida (The Cherokee Indian Name).

When she needed a doctor. I ask people in the area what doctor
for the children were they using. I was given Dr.Farah he was located right near the old Washington County Hospital. So there began a journey. When we met him he ask about her name. We DID NOT tell him there was a meaning to her name in Cherokee. He said her name in Arabic is spelt Rashida leaving out the "c". He said did you know her name has a meaning to it. She and I said, "Really what?" Dr. Farah said, "He himself was Arabic. It would be spelt Rashida meaning Rightly Guided.

Later when we went to Frontier Town near Ocean City. She was dancing with the other kids. The Indian Chief walked through the circle and was touching her hair and her cheek bone and talking not in English. Ed and me ran over saying can anyone tell us what this man is saying. A Indian young woman and young man came over. They said we are not acting as Indians we the young man talking are real Cherokee Indians. This is my sister gave her name, I am and gave his name. He said this is our Father giving his name. He said my father is saying to us, "This girl has Cherokee in her." They ask us to meet with them after the dance. Which we did. The son translated for the Father. The Father kept saying, "This child has Cherokee in her". They ask her name and the spelling. I gave them Rascchida. They said that is how it should be spelt. They told their Father. He said something back to them. The young man said my Father is telling me to tell you that her name in Cherokee means: One who guides one on the right path.

The Father wanted here face painted as an Indian Princess the young man told us. So they did. Then the Father presented her with a "feather". The young Cherokee man translated "This is an eagle feather only Indians can own them. She has a paper where they signed their Cherokee Indian names the young man, his sister and the Father.

I have given all this too her since she is older.

I have continued to look for the Cherokee in her biological fathers side of the family and could not find it. There is one name that no one knows how he died or anything about him or where he is buried. When I was looking other than when meeting with the older generation of her last name they said there was Cherokee in the family. Not knowing this was information I was wanting. I ask them about it or where I could find more on it. They could not tell me other than someone has a BIBLE with it in the Bible.

I still can't find that person that has that Bible.

LYNN, the kids had their Avalanche apart many times, no problems, they loved it !

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Tom takes his Avalanche apart all the time and I don't think he has had any problems but it would take a little work to take it apart and put it back together.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Steve is at the Flight 93 Memorial. Posted it on FB.

Kay said...

DANA WV, wow, the story of how Raschida got her name is interesting. It took a while to get it, but I thank you for so thoroughly satisfying our inquiring minds ! I imagine your daughter is very proud of her name and Cherokee heritage.

stronghunter said...

Yes, it is a very interesting story, DanaWV.

Kay said...

Steve's being at the 93 Memorial reminds me. If the doc gives me the thumbs up next week, I will be going to NJ for Thanksgiving with my son's family. He's made reservations for all of us to see the 9/11 Memorial, the day before Thanksgiving. It will be an emotional experience, but I don't want to miss it. The holiday will be different this year--granddaughter Lauren in China and her maternal grandfather Keith there without our Judy. We'll have much to be thankful for and will make the best of it, I'm sure.

wvgal_dana said...

What I thought was so exciting was at Frontier Town they usually only have people dressed as indians. This Cherokee family stop by there every so often when they are coming from some large Indian meeting. It just happen to be the day we went there. WOW I've always said, "God is so good".

wvgal_dana said...

Wish we could prove it. She could get Scholarship for College.

wvgal_dana said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TOM RIFFE I SENT YOU AN EMAIL BIRTHDAY CARD A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO TO BE PICKED UP TODAY!!

wvgal_dana said...

Oh Kay I hope the doctor gives you the thumbs up. So you can be there for that Thanksgiving celebration and see the memorial.

Hoda said...

Have a GREAT day everyone. ENJOY and I will see you all when I come back after my late lunch with a friend.

My dogs ring a set of bells to go outside. Frisbee was trained and none of the other dogs we've had needed to be trained after him. They all learned from him. We had a cockapoo before the puppies (Boomer and Java) and he learned from Frisbee too! They can be REALLY annoying with the bells!

stronghunter said...

How interesting, DanaMo. Usually Luna barks, but sometimes she sneezes, as she did this morning.

wvgal_dana said...

Neat DanaMo trained to ring a bell to go outside....now that is truly trained.

Mema Jo said...

Hoda - you are very observant and it is
correct that the deadline was Wednesday
when I submitted the list to Security at NCTC. Lynn, I am sorry to say that NCTC policy has changed and
won't accept any last minute names. I
used to be able to call and add names
but a limit is now in affect once the list is approved - gov't
rules. I emailed Diann and really feel badly - mostly that I didn't mention this limit to those going on Monday. :(

hedgie said...

Very cool, DanaWV ....you may never really find a typical Cherokee name in the family history. My Dad's mother's family had Cherokee lineage....and the guys name was Ned Sizemore! Sure doesn't sound Indian, does it? He was back in the mid-1800's.
Thanks for finally telling us the unique names history.

I answered the crack question, but don't remember what time. Scroll back!!

Oh, Kay, so glad that you are planning your TG trip! Hurray!

DanaMo---wish I knew how to teach Liesl to do the bell thing! Would be better than her high-pitched bark echoing in the house!!

hedgie said...

I tried to filet my hand. Tried the paint thinner on the windshield without result so opened razor scraper and promptly managed to cut my palm! Donald is here....he took over.....used the paint thinner with man muscle...and it looks like it might have worked. Will know more when I get out on the road!

stronghunter said...

Oh dear, Lynn. Glad that Donald was there to help you.

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynn/e TELL DONALD WE ALL SAID "THANK YOU DONALD"!!!

hedgie said...

Oh, Jo, that really stinks! It also makes no sense since this rule doesn't seem to apply all the time. There is a dinner function soon that the disaster preparedness group was invited to attend and nothing was said about pre-registration, etc.

wvgal_dana said...

Oh by the way every time Raschida flys. She is search before they even started doing these searches. They think she is Arabic I guess lol We think her name is on a list lol Poor girl!!!

hedgie said...

Wonder if NCTC runs the names through a terrorist watch list?
Sure hope no one has a name that would be suspicious!!!

Costume Lady said...

We can put Diann and Jimbo in the back of Lynn's truck and cover them with a tarp!

So sorry, Diann:( ♥

Costume Lady said...

The name, DANAMO sounds pretty fishy to me! ;)

hedgie said...

LOL, Wanda----that might be hard to do since the truck is going to be at OBX!!!!

Good to hear that others have successfully had the Avalanche apart! I am due for trade-in in Feb. IF we get a house at the beach before then, think I will downsize. Won't need so much space to haul stuff then!!

hedgie said...

Request, please! If anyone is watching the Skins game Sunday, PLEASE text me the scores on my cell, okay???? We'll be on the road.

Ms Bookworm said...

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Oh, shoot--my post got eaten up, and didn't get published. Forgot to save it, too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TOM RIFFE!!!

Gotta go grossery shopping, so will try to recreate my post when I get back home. Am praying for all situations here, never fear.
Miss Emma says to say, "Woof!" to all of you! Will BBL... :o]

hedgie said...

I am as ready as I can be at this stage of the game. Don't want to pack shirts yet (wrinkles!), and of course toiletries will have to wait til Sun. AM....but everything else is packed, except Liesl's stuff and will get loaded tomorrow evening. Will vacuum either tonight after I get home or tomorrow after a few last minute errands.

hedgie said...

Donald blew leaves before he started cutting wood. So grateful cause knee is not feeling good at all today.

Kay said...

DANAMO, I love that bell system. Granddog, Rufus, the 2 year old Shepadoodle in NJ, does that. Michigan grandog, Sammy, barks at the back door and fiesty Malcolm here in Columbus has not taken to doing anything we can understand ! I just take him out every two hours no matter what, but his home family has fouled up on the timing more than once. Icky poo !

Kay said...

LYNN, Ouch ! Hope the wound is not too serious, but you, dear nurse, will know what it needs. Thankful Donald was there.

Kay said...

Have any of you experienced selling unwanted gold or diamonds ? If so, any hints about things to be aware of, or to beware of ?

hedgie said...

I have one of those nagging feelings that the carwash I prefer is not going to be open by the time I get to town....guess it will have to wait 'til tomorrow. No good point in leaving in time to do it and then end up being too early for my dinner appointment!

Mema Jo said...

It's always ok to be early. Megan said
she just saw a bald eagle at the
Shep'twn bridge........

BBL

hedgie said...

LOL, Kay....Liesl has pulled that trick more than once. I will put her out with no result and then she deposits 5 mins. later by the door! Have to watch her like a hawk when she doesn't produce on outing.

Christie has done the gold thing. Be VERY careful she says! Best to get jewelers appraisel first before running the risk of getting taken by an unscrupulous outfit.

Lolly said...

I just took my gold to my local jeweler. I trust him! Did not compare prices, just took it to him.

Have run my errands and now waiting for Jack to get home.

We were going to mow tomorrow and I have a cake to bake. However, had a cousin call. They are here for TCU football/Homecoming. We did not plan on going but he has tickets to give me. He got tickets but is now scheduled to sit with the TCU athletic director, probably in a box. Grrr! My cousin played football for TCU...then Houston, then Miami and then Seattle. He has several super bowl rings...so, yes, guess they want him with them in the box.
We can visit before the game. I would like to go, hope Jack wants to!

Kay said...

LYNN, thanks for Christie's advice. Perhaps best to take the stuff to a couple of jewelers for appraisal as a first step. Some of them buy, but are there outfits that pay more than they do ?

hedgie said...

LOL, Jo----early is always a problem for me. I waste so much time being early! I should carry a book with me! And, of course, some people are always late (like my Chris!!!) We say she'll be late to her own funeral!

Yea for Megan!!!! Bet it was Belle!

Kay said...

LOLLY, it's nice to be comfortable with a local jeweler. Makes it a lot easier. Will ask some locals if they have one they trust.

Hope you and Jack get to go to that TCU game and you can visit with your cousin, too. Sounds like fun !

Kay said...

LOL, Julie and I have differing view on timeliness. If an invite says 6 o'clock start time, she will arrive at about 6:20. Says people don't like you being right on time because they're never ready. I always arrive at the appointed hour, for when I do the inviting and say 6, that is exactly when I want to get the party started and I will be ready ! Eileen and Lee got those genes, but Julie didn't. LOL

hedgie said...

No, Kay, most of those hotel set-ups or the ones that do the home parties are shysters!!!

Lolly, what is your cousin's name? How long ago was he a pro??
Hope it's a great weather day if you go!
Carolyn is going to her HS homecoming game tonight....brrrrrr.

hedgie said...

Forgot to ask if her godson will be allowed to play post-concussion. He's first-string QB---only a soph!

PA Nana said...

Lolly's pizza casserole? Must have missed that one. Will sks please send me the recipe? Thanks.

Lynn, since I haven't slept since yesterday and have a good bit of pain today and expect more I decided on something real simple - cole slaw. How's that for taking the "easy road out?"

The broccoli & tortellini salad recipe looked so good but don't want to subject anyone to something I haven't tried myself.

Have to catch up. bbl

Kay said...

LYNN, the last thing I need to complicate my life is a shyster ! I think I'll go the jeweler route and be satisfied. No need to make a killing---just no need to keep some stuff I no longer want, nor is it the style, etc. any of the kids or grands will ever want.

hedgie said...

Shutting down now. You all have an enjoyable evening. I will see you later on.

Lolly said...

Jack just got home. He said let's go, so we are going to the game tomorrow. Mowing put off 'til Monday. I will probably bake my cake this evening while watching the Rangers game. Going to bake a new recipe for the auction...an Apple/Cream Cheese Bundt cake. LOL I love doing new recipes!!!
This one has praline icing drizzed over!

Lolly said...

Remember when Jack was having crown problems on a tooth before his rafting trip? Well, he woke up this morning with a lump on the gum right at the base of the new crown.????? He got in to see the dentist, but now has to see a specialist next week. He is on an antibiotic, but it is not sore. Hmmm?????

DanaWV, thank you for the story of Raschida's name! Interesting that it means the same thing in both languages. Very interesting encounter with the Cherokee people!

Good Friday Evening.......

Catching up on the day's events...

DANA MO – That is cute that the flying labs ring bells to go out. Our Border Collie just comes over and gives you that look! So your name is suspicious? Hmmmmm Praying for your Dad, too.

Lynn – That darn knee. I sure hope it is better by the time you leave. You don’t “kneed” it slowing you down!

WVDana – Thanks for sharing Raschida’s name story. Very interesting!

Kay – Hope you get the “go ahead” to travel to NJ for Thanksgiving. That would be nice.

Lolly – Didn’t know you were so “connected” in the NFL!! Hope you get to go to the TCU game. Too bad he can’t get you in the sky box! Strange about the lump on Jack’s gum, but glad there is no pain. We’ve had a rough year with root canals, gum surgeries and crowns, too. Ugh!! I even wondered if all the work Dennis had done to his gums and teeth affected anything to do with his heart attack. I’ve heard there is a link between gum disease and heart attacks, but I have not looked into any of that.

Judie – Wishing you a fun-filled and relaxing trip looking for fall colors!! “Good on You” for knowing when you need a break!!

Jo – Haven’t asked about Marvelous Marvin lately………. How is he doing?? Luvin’ on you?? Give him a good scrachin’ for me okay?

Diann – It’s just horrible that you’re still suffering so with all that pain. Keeping you in prayer that something starts working as it should.

All this talk about the nest visit on Monday makes me SAD!! I am happy for those that get to go, but am DYING to go, too. I want to see a bald eagle for the first time with my Eagle Family. How awesome would that be? And for it to be a rather small gathering makes it all the more special. I should have listened to Dennis and planned to go. I’d still worry like crazy. I hope you have wonderful weather and a wonderful day!! ♥

DanaMo said...

Okay so my dad fell last week and the x-ray came back negative. He has still been in pain so he went to the doctor today and requested a CT scan. Lo and behold, he has a fractured hip. Just left the ER. He is being admitted. Surgery tomorrow. Geez...

DanaMo said...

Looks like I may have eluded earlier to issue with my dad. No time to catch up now. Annemarie and I are starving. I don't remember posting about my dad earlier, but someone said they are saying prayers so I must have! Maybe I am losing my mind?

Lori O. said...

Oh, DANAMO, sorry about your Dad. I'm working on a Prayer List now so will put him on there...what is his name?

My brother called and said my MOM is in the hospital again! I just got off the phone with her. It's her stomach problems this time. She is supposed to have a CAT Scan at any time.

Lori O. said...

I'll wait to hear from my Dad what the CAT Scan says to decide if I need to be at the hospital in Pittsburgh.

D-MO, you did mention your Dad yesterday, but didn't know it was a broken hip, yet.

Thanks LORI ♥

So sorry to hear YOUR Mom is in the hospital again. It has turned into a "not so good" day today with all these hospital admissions :(

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

I will keep praying for all our needs. For God tells us to continue earnestly in prayer and to ask in faith!!

paula eagleholic said...

Sorry to hear about your parents, Lori and DanaMO.

Wanted to let you know I will be checking in very late, probably at midnight. Waited around for Bro, he's not coming...he's errr...under the weather. Have a load full of flooring in the truck, had to stop and get straps to secure it, so it will be a slow ride down, don't worry about me, I'll check in when I do arrive.

Catch ya'll later, have a good evening!

Hoda said...

I have not read back. Will do so after this post.
I had a lovely lunch with Anne and she is an author and just had her sixth book published and she told me about it. She will be going to Toronto to promote it and how we laughed and enjoyed our food. We went to a Vegan restaurant and had an excellent Indian Cuisine type meal...YUM YUM delicious.
She also works at the library and is in charge of purchasing books and dealing with the publicity aspect of the job in dealing with the public. This part of her job I would find very difficult to do but she does such a GREAT job...

I'll go read the happenings of the day. Will be back later...I hope we are all well.

Hoda said...

PAULA we will wait up for you to check in. Drive Safely.

LORI I am sorry your Mom is in the hospital again. Prayers your way. Thanks for the prayer list you published. I added your Mom to it.

DANAMO I am sorry your Dad is in the hospital and feel happy that he kept with it till they did find out the source of his pain was indeed a fracture.Prayers come his way.

LYNN enjoy your evening out and I am sorry you cut your hand.I hope it heals and does not get in the way of your enjoyment of the trip.

DanaMo said...

My dad is Bob Hagelberg, Lori and thanks for the prayers. Prayers for you mom too! Sorry she is not well.

DanaMo said...

Thanks, Wanda! DANAMO the kindergarten teacher is very suspicious! ☺

DanaMo said...

Thanks for the Prayer list Lori. I am going to print it out and take it to Adoration Chapel with me in the morning.

DanaMo said...

Mom just got back to the hospital, in time to catch the doctor talking to dad. He is going to do 1/2 a hip replacement. Surgery is at 7:30 am and he will be in the hospital for 3-5 days. He will have to have PT for 5 weeks. Geez...long road ahead. The good news I guess is that it's only a 1/2 hip replacement.

Linda said...

DanaMo - Is your Dad in a lot of pain? Good that they are doing the surgery.......even on a Saturday! Is he with a good ortho doctor, too?

Will definitely be keeping him in my prayers...

DanaMo said...

Linda, he actually took this fall over a week ago, so although the pain has lingered I don't think it has been terrible, hence the reason they didn't push it until today.

Linda said...

Thanks Dana ♥ I hope this is easy on him and his recovery is quick!

Linda, there has long been correlation made between bacteria in the mouth affecting the heart. My Dad had his heart attack on a Monday morning (also a stress correlation there!) while he was brushing his teeth.

LOTS of Momsters and Dadsters have had some serious dental situations this year, for sure. What a pain!

Lolly, you are a brave soul. I come from a family of excellent cooks, but we always held to the belief that you never fix an untried recipe for company or carry outs!!!!

hedgie said...

Oh, good grief, girls. More parent concerns.....Dana, SO glad he got that CT. Prayers for a successful surgery and quick recovery. And Lori, your poor Mom, too, has had ENOUGH!
Prayers for them and for you all. And praise God that my Mom so far is healthy and steady on her feet at 92!

hedgie said...

Lori, thanks for the nice prayer list. I'm sure glad that I have lots of beads on my rosary. (I'm not Catholic, but my Dad's mother was before she became a Mormon! I have her crucifix, so Margy gave me a set of her beads to go with it!!)

hedgie said...

Thanks for additions, DanaWV.
My friend Debbie and Margy's former in-law IS getting her chemo and doing well.
Need to add my friend John....recently diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and not doing well.

hedgie said...

DanaMO---who's doing the surgery? Don't know many of the ortho's over there anymore---most I knew have retired. Is Cirrincione still practicing? I'm familiar with half-knees (my Mom had that) but haven't heard half-hip. Gotta reserach that!

I had mentioned back in September my cousin Rosie was in the hospital for pneumonia. Well I just got off the phone with her. While in the hospital she got blood clots in her legs. Plus they found a spot on her brain. I have been waiting for a call from her about the spot on the brain. Doctors said they got it all. She was still in the hospital. The next day Dale her husband was going in for outpatient surgery. He had an hemorrhage behind one eye. All they had to do they said was go in and drain the blood out. Then they could take him home that day. Something went terribly wrong-1st they said a heart attack-then they said no it wasn't-some how he was left without oxygen to his brain. They rushed him to hospital in Buffalo trying to save him but had to put him on life support. This is happening while Rosie his wife my cousin is having radiation on the spot in the brain.
She couldn't even get to the hospital to see Dale. Doctors talked with her over the phone. Said he would be in a vegetative state no hope at his age of 67. She had to make a decision with her daughter and his sister to take him off life support. She is home now and goes Oct. 27th for chemo on the Lung cancer they found while she was in hospital. I will call her on Oct 27 or 28th to see how many chemo treatments she will have to have.
I'M IN TEARS!!!!!!! My Sweet Rosie she and Dale were so much in love. Please pray for the chemo treatments and her losing her love, her husband Dale. A lawyer is looking into how Dale was left without oxygen for a minor surgery.

Well, my cake for Sunday is baked and cooling. Then I make a praline icing to drip over it. Yummy!

Yes, I live precariously! LOL I love to try new recipes, so I go for it. It is bound to be delicious as it has every thing good in it! I only hope there is not someone at the auction expecting my cheese cake. However, if there is someone who want the cheesecake, I will make it just for them....if they pay an enormous sum to the church. LOL

wvgal_dana said...

Yep Mema Jo I was all ready to kid around with Dale on the phone. Like we usually do. This is just so unbelievable.

More unbelieveable is that his celebration of life was on September 24th and that is the day my nephew son & Whitney had their daughter Violet born.

God takes away and God sends. I have heard that many times.

I was so worried about Rosie I never thought anything would happen to Dale with this being minor surgery. In and Out of hospital same day suppose to be.

Prayers for Rosie and Dale, DanaWV.

Well, dear ones, I didn't sleep today and have given in to half of my ambien. Gotta sleep and get ready for all the family tomorrow. Max will be here with his mom, dad & big brother, my #1 grandson, Jared.

So much sadness on the blog and many prayers are needed so without giving each one notice, please know I'm praying for everyone.

It was sad that NCTC insisted on a limited amount of visitors. I'm okay with this as I was trying to convince myself & Jimbo that I could make the trip because I wanted to be there so much.

Has JudyE checked in? Is she still coming up on Monday? I know she was looking forward to seeing the nest.

Well, Ive delayed the inevitable. Must get some sleep.

Goodnight & God bless!

Hi, Everyone!

Getting here VERY late, but it seems as if once I got going earlier, it was just one thing after the other! Need to try to reconstruct the post of mine that got "eaten" earlier, so here goes:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ONCE AGAIN, TO TOM RIFFE! Hope it was the best Birthday ever!

Prayers for Diann--hope your Dr. comes up with a med dose that keeps you feeling good!

Prayers, DanaMo, for your friend Lauren, and for Scout! What a nightmare! Oh--and prayers for your Dad, and for his hip surgery!

Thelma, looks like you'll have to lock the refrig. to keep Buddy out!

Shirley, Ruth Carver must have been a wonderful person to know. What an interesting life! I'm sure she will be sorely missed!
Sorry about the nasty traffic situation there today!

Judie, enjoy your day today and tomorrow. I'm sure the beautiful fall colors will leave you renewed and refreshed. We'll miss you, though!

WV Dana, fascinating story about Raschida's name. Thanks for sharing. Oh, my--prayers, indeed, for your cousin Rosie!--AND for you! What an unfortunate situation.

Thanks to Lori for the prayer list. Prayers for your Mom, too!
WV Dana, thanks for the update to Lori's list.

Lynn, hope your cut hand heals quickly, and doesn't bother you on your b___h trip! Enjoy!

Well, here I am in the middle of the night, all bright eyed and bushy tailed. Fell asleep in front of the boob tube, AGAIN. Will just blabber while you all get those zzz's, then I'll konk out again and sleep til' 9 or 10. Guess it doesn't really matter as long as I get enough rest each day/night.

LOLLY, that cake sounds delicious ! Hope Jack's specialist can fix whatever is wrong near that new crown, quickly and painlessly. Have fun with your cousin--must be a great guy !

Thanks for the comprehensive prayer list, gals ! Sorry to see LORI's mom, Nancy, and DANAMO's dad on the list, but praying both will be in the pink again soon. Tragic news from your cousin, DANA WV, let her know we Momster's are remembering her in prayer.

PAULA, it's always good to hear you and Nick have arrived in Paradise safely. Hope you spot some beautiful birds this weekend !

DIANN, hope the family reunion is fun and takes your mind off the pain for a while. Prayers !

LOL Buddy figuring out how to open the fridge door ! They'll have to chain it shut, but shouldn't use a combination lock. Sounds like he may be smart enough to figure that out, too !

Okay, that catches me up for the moment. See y'all later in the day.
