Jo: I read your posts....had three phone calls... James and his school apparently did not know of anything, unless they thought it was the Sand Mine close by blasting... his father heard it and realized it was NOT the Sand Mine
Nana - James's other grandma in Shephedstown along the river, was outside and DID NOT experience anything at all, but others in Shep-town did
Wow, What a post from Megan !! Frightening! Glad Frosty was there with her...I think it is Frosty....the dog
Jo I meant I had three phone calls right after I asked you if Ed was there
I think it is good that many could share this experience with others, family, friends and co-workers....and hope that any lone "experiencers" were not too frightened.
Hoda - Happy Paddling ! Will look forward to a complete report !
Wondering about Wanda and Gene, and sure it was the topic of things at the Soup Kitchen...and also wonder if GG experienced it, or maybe was taking a nap. I figure Annandale Anne was napping when this happened, that is her schedule
Nice Try Judy, on your Command... but the Eagle/s seem to have ignored you :(
Paula I had seen earlier where you had checked in before all this started and was happy to see you ! But I was running late for the car appt to have wheels checked and couldn't get on to say so
Hope Kay is making a comeback soon!and gets her energy restored.... also thinking about Pa-Linda... hoping same for her... okay, bubbles are hollering for me !
Honestly, I just feel so uneasy....we've had such bad weather related disasters in this country this year, and now the quakes here and CO, and the last thing we need is a terrible hurricane now.
Margy--Caro said to tell you that your check is in!
Just had a horrible-sounding raccoon fight---and cam is not out there---it's here-- I'm ready to download latest pics. Sounded serious. One was "crying" as it ran off. :(
Aric is on the plane! Yay! It was a close one! Just got on now for a 10:00 flight. Not much time to spare and the next flight would have been in the morning!
thanks Lynn....I hope it is generous, my bank account is just about on E
fyi to others...the County Government had to recalculate some things on our payrolls for some time backwards and we are getting some kind of...compensation....
I emailed to most of my siblings, Annandale Va near Judie, Baltimore area, Connecticut, here near Hedgesville, and Massachusetts only heard from the sis in Massachusetts she did not know about anything about it happening when it occurred, but was glad we're okay down here Roanoke Mary will check in before too long
Shirley's post...if she has the time....is going to be very interesting I believe (( Hugs Shirley ♥ ))
Well it wasn't suppose to be so tight, but the flight from Paris was an hour behind schedule. They were suppose to land at 7:05 and they didn't land until after 8:00 and I guess getting though customs took some time, because he wasn't to his gate when he texted me at 9:30. He finally texted and said he was on at 9:39 for a 9:55! Too close for this mamma!
We were in the shoe store shopping for back-to-school shoes for Hunter when the quake hit. I grabbed Hunter and got him out of the building when I started seeing things falling off shelves. The clerks followed us out. One woman from California said that she was used to quakes, but was impressed.
I called Kathryn while I was out there and she was pretty upset. (They ran outside, too.) She said that Hunter sounded fine, but I sounded scared to death. That is because I was scared to death. I knew I wasn't going to be able to get the fear out of my voice.
The store we were in is next to Spotsylvania Mall. I heard that people were running and screaming in the mall and that things were falling from the ceiling.
Watching Ch. 5 news. Washington Monument is going to be closed until further notice because of cracks.
Hunter's school opening has been delayed.
Wow! I heard what sounded like an explosion on the cam.
Good grief, Kay goes to Dayton and returns a geologist! Way cool, Kay. Seriously, interesting information about earthquakes and caves. Hope you are feeling better.
Yes, Lolly, books were off the bookcase shelves but not being read. Just laying on the floor looking sad a confused. Congratulations on your perfect checkup.
Lori, no question about your priority. lol
Jo, I think media would have covered any news about Wh. House damage. Evacuees would have blabbed.
Lynne2, not to feel alone. I stayed at my desk, held on with both hands, and marveled that there was no power loss.
Paddling was very difficult tonight...we pushed the limits in race starts and it was a challenge. We ran the 500 meter race twice and came in at 2.53 which almost gave me a heart attack!!!A bit inhibiting I must say.
RED is funny...I hope the founding fathers are not that upset!!!LOL!!!
SHIRLEY where were you at the time the quake hit?
The after shocks seem high, I am glad you all did not feel them.
Well, I have already fallen asleep. Said I was going to leave, but didn't...feel asleep here in my chair. Woke up with a dry mouth. Fell asleep with my mouth open. Good grief...not a pretty picture. LOL
Yeah, Shirley, that's what I heard, too! I thought something had slammed into the cam housing. But couldn't see anything.....NOW it sounds like heavy breathing and clunks.
It's been a bit of a jarring day for most of us, I think....not one I want to go through again, for sure. Many school systems are clsoed tomorrow.... Margy, Carolyn swears that the Shanghai bridge is "off"----acrack at where it meets the road that she has felt that wasn't there before.
News: there is a crack in the very top of the Washington monument -- the top triangle shaped portion.
Closest damage to me is in Vienna, about 15 minutes away.
Margy, no word of damage in Annandale/Braddock Rd. area.
Sorry about the cracks at Chrissy's. Most people in the part of the country do not have earthquake or flood or tornado insurance coverage. It is expensive and additional to home owner's and so infrequently needed.
Ah yes, Tom Sweetie to the rescue. Wonder if he had his Superman cape on?
Hope Shirley's area is okay. Shirley, too, of course.
Red has outdone any explanation I've heard about the earth-shaking event today.
Right, Judie??? Wonder if Red made that up himself??
No earthquake coverage??? ARGH! No fair! It is obvious that they can happen ANYWHERE! Shouldn't need a rider for that! It's not like you can build someplace to prevent it like you can with floods.
Kay hasn't been traveling! She had company in over the weekend. And DanaMo is traveling from Dayton TO Columbus Friday to hook up with her on the way home, Judie!
Several of my friends have called asking me if I think the earthquakes are following me. I was in Alaska 4 weeks ago when a 5.3 rattled near Anchorage, and now this. Here in western PA the house shook and creaked a bit, but I sure knew what it was. Everyone in Irene's path get your hurricane supplies ready cash, gas in the car and the cell phone always charged.......
Oh Shirley, how scary for you and Hunter! Glad you are OK! A kid after my own heart worried about the hurricane! I just hope he doesn't worry too much....
Grannyblt---good to see you, gal!!! Did you enjoy the Alaska trip?? Did you see lots of eagles? Bobbi (Robyn's Mom) was there this summer, too! Lucky gals, for sure! How is your Mom doing?
if she hasn't already reported that, I guess she will be
Scary ... apartment bldg evacuated in Hillcrest Hgts, Maryland...lots of people are affected by this Safety has to prevail...even thought it is a huge hassle for a lot of people
He's from the West Coast so he has been through the earthquake drill, said he used to pack supplies for three days' worth....was in Washington State for a long time
We got the shoes after a long search for high-top sneakers for less than $100. Grandma will not pay that much. Hunter did agree that such a price was too high.
Hunter finally decided that he could go for semi-high top shoes and we purchased them.
His football team was, unfortunately, defeated. I think the score was 18-12.
If you are on FB, my new picture is of me and the grands on our way to see a glacier in AK. My daughter posted a few of my visit on her FB page. I guess I need to get busy and tag them? so all my FB friends from here can see them. I just never seem to take the time for these things.
So many stories at the Soup Kitchen, this evening. It was interesting to hear where everyone was and what they thought, when the quake hit!
Gene and I and one helper was in the kitchen when it happened. I felt a rumble under my feet and thought the noise was our Pastor, upstairs, rolling around on his desk chair. Gene was in the parking lot and felt nothing, but did hear the rumble. We didn't know what it was until another helper came in about an hour afterwards and told us what had happened. Some thought it was the Rapture, beginning!
Soup Kitchen was a success, with 43 guests, all who went home with their free groceries and a bag or two of clothing, toiletries, and books. We have a bunch of baby and toddler items coming in soon...really need those!
Still need toiletries. The box that we had today, is completely empty, except for one bar of soap. Can't figure why it wasn't taken. Think I will print up a bulletin and email it to all church members, letting them know of our need.
Funny how so many people thought they were hearing something before they realized what happened today! Talked to MIL...she was at work and thought the kids in the barber shop next door were running up and down the steps...until things started rattling! That was in Oakland, MD.
I didn't hear any noise other than rattling. My coworkers downstairs thought the SHEETZ next door was exploding though! And Dr Baker and a client were in the front of the building in an exam room and neither felt or heard a thing!
remember we had a 3.6 quake in July last year in Georgetown, MD. Just before 5am. I woke up out of a dead sleep and yelled WE JUST HAD AN EARTHQUAKE! I heard that one, and felt it, but no where near what I felt today. Steve said I was nuts and that Daisy must have been doing her bumping the bed routine that she does. When we woke back up at 7, it was all over the news!
Wanda, glad the soup kitchen was once again a success. How about GG? Did she feel the quake? Guess you have been so busy that you might not have talked with her.
Getting ready for bed...had to watch the news tonight! Hurricane may be on a more easterly track, will have to watch and see.
I shouldn't need to do anything at the beach, the house is secure. Don't expect any water damage. It's possible the roads would flood, then I would be stuck if I was there ☺
WANDA glad things went OK at the soup kitchen and am glad you are safe. What about your MOM?What was her experience?
LOLLY I only get an open mike sound from the lve feed.
PAULA you still have a few days to go to figure out if you are going to the beach hose...maybe things will be clearer by then as to its trajectory and its force.
yeah Lynn, and I remember saying that I wished I could have felt it better....got my wish today. I must be careful what I wish for! I guess it was pretty scary at the time, but no one was hurt so far as I've heard, and not too much damage although I suspect more will be discovered in the days to come. So now it seems fun to have been through it!
My FIL's one daughter in GA, about an hour from Atlanta, felt it! But his other one didn't...she's on the other side of town.
Wonder if Linda and Diann felt anything?
I guess I'll be getting my wound up earthquake self to bed now! Glad everyone and everyone's loved ones are safe and sound! Now back to praying that Irene goes away....
Shirley, maybe Hunter should be getting some counseling. Have you suggested that to Kat? The experts recommend it for all children of divorce nowadays.
Hi, Everyone, Here is a picture of the waves at Huntington Beach, where we were yesterday. The surfing was pretty good, so a lot of people were in the water. Got a bit of a suntan from walking around. Weather was beautiful there!
Have added some people to my prayer list, and at least one critter--Lynn, hope the loser of the raccoon battle will be OK. Hope those feeling less than great improve rapidly, too! Praying for everyone's safety with the shaking going on back East.
Think I'll wait until morning to finish catching up on the blog. Getting kind of tired, so going to call it a day. Judie, good idea to brighten up the night light. I'm doing the same with the porch light. Enabling both security systems. Hoping that everyone will sleep soundly. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
Sorry getting on here so late!Of what I've read so far, seemns all the Momsters and Dadsters are OK!!
Had phone calls, lots of emails to answer & then a short Panda nap in chair!☺ I LUV Red's reason for quake!!! I sent note earlier to daughter & SIL and reply was "lightening, earthquake---get out of town!!" Then we can also add perhaps Irene rain. Coolest thing I heard at Park was from friend who works there 3 days who went kayaking & then two men who had been canoeing in a similar marshy area. Guys saw all the plants waving, but there was no wind, and all said the water started to bubble!!!!!!Wish I had seen that! I didn't feel any motion & only knew it was a quake when I decided there was too much noise in building & left after checking that nearby trees were stable. My car was rocking from side to side a few times!!! We never lost any power either. Shocking when rain causes outages of everything!!
Trying to remember all I've read, so if I forget anyone I'm very sorry, it's not intentional ... definitely a very busy night on the blog.
WANDA, very happy to know it wasn't the rapture, and I'm not "Left Behind." I'm sure a lot of people thought it was the end!
WANDA, Please send me the email you send your church members about what you need for the Soup Kitchen, Pantry and all. I do have my Clothes Closet collection box underway. I can also keep a better eye out for things! You are a blessed woman, Tiger!
Does anyone know how 8 pairs of reading glasses can disappear? Make that seven, I'm wearing one pair. It's beyond me.
Well, it's a new day and I hope everyone is ready for an earthquakeless day! There'll be plenty to do this morning trying to get all the information out.
JUDYE, that's a very thoughtful avatar. :)
KAY, I hope this finds you feeling 100% better and a big appetite this morning. A big hug for you. Squeeze!
LYNN, racoons aren't my fave these days, but I hope both of those from last night's encounter are okay.
SHIRLEY, seems you were closest to the action yesterday. I'm so happy you and your family are okay and hope Hunter got some restful sleep.
JUDIE, you go. Glad your desk was enough to get you through yesterday! Pretty funny! Resourceful woman.
Still hoping to hear from PA LINDA and DIANN and praying all is well in their world today.
LOLLY ... I've changed my avatar to Dalai carrying her sled in the snow in hopes it'll bring you cooler weather. Hoping today is not 58 days of triple digit temps!
LORI you sound like me I have about 6 pair of glasses couple of them are broke on the arm also but I keep around for when I can find the others I need to go buy some more I keep one for work and the others at the house I broke two pair just this week alone they only feel off my head and hit the floor and broke the arm cheap plastic I guess I am cheap I got to the dollar tree and only a dollar
WANDA so glad the soup kit was a success as always and I you know how it is when there is only one cookie left or the last peice of cake NO ONE wants to take the LAST of anything I think MAYBE
Sounds like Belle and Truder were doing remodeling on the nest with all the noise and when did Truder get his licence to drive that truck that was heard backing up I wonder what it was We will never know I guess
It was short, but good. Monte brought him up to his dorm room and thought he seemed a little "lost". Everyone else has been here for days and he has just gotten here and has class at 8:00 this morning. I have a feeling the day is going to be very overwhelming for him. I brought his laundry to the hotel and I'll do it for him today. We will have dinner with him after his last class. Hopefully we will have a couple of hours with him.
DanaMO, glad you got Aric to school OK...the first couple of weeks may be overwhelming for him, especially because he is farther away from home. I'm sure your being there the first couple of days will help reduce his anxiety!
Yes, I'm up early...we have been having an alarm going off at work, haven't been able to figure out what is causing it...the call this morning was at 5.39...the call Monday mornign was at 4.40...I went back to sleep after that one!
Checking the cam. Pretty leaves. No eagles in sight.
Hunter got up in the wee hours and crawled into bed with Kathryn. It seems that he might have been right when he said there was an aftershock (about 3:00 AM). I think there was also one at about 12:45. I heard rumbling. I had stepped outside to dispose of an insect I found on the family room floor.
GOOD MORNING... Seems like everyone left for work or went back to bed, maybe running with DanaMo:)
I didn't get a chance to talk with GG about the quake, she goes to bed around 6:30 - 7pm and we didn't get done cleaning up after Soup Kitchen til 7:00. I doubt she heard anything (her hearing is so bad, even with her aids in). She probably didn't feel anything either (the rumbling was so subtle under MY feet). Getting my crown today and will go to GG's afterward...will see if she experienced anything.
You may have already discussed this but how did everyone fair with the quake yesterday. It absolutely amazes me how small we are in the universe that one quake can affect so many states.
The infamous Brother Cat is freaking out all over the house...jumping onto things, yowling, running around, leaping at nothing. Now I realize most of you know he's a nut job anyway, but I've never seen this happen before! OF course, we were not home with him before the quake hit yesterday......it's freaking me out! Maybe he KNOWS something!
Thelma, read back for yesterday's comments! We were all pretty chatty over the whole strange experience!! Glad you all are good down there in Bluefield.
Lynne2, did you see that Shirley said there were apparently two more aftershocks during the night? Wonder if BroCat knew that and knows that mmaybe they are still occurring??
I slept in a bit this AM.....cool nights=warm electric blanket=coziness!! And Liesl must have been pretty worn out from the excitement of the plumber and the quake yesterday, so she LET me snooze!
Good Morning - I am up and about. Read the blog and looks as though all is well except for Brother Cat! I hope he settles down for you Lynne. I strongly think that we need a sighting of our Eagle Couple. I wonder if they have been seen by any NCTC personnel?
Nothing to do today except I need a brake job before venturing out of here.
Welcome Back Aric... and best wishes and prayers on a smooth transition for him, DanaMo... you and Monte just keep providing your love and support and encouragement...he will get through this okay, and has that wonderful Madrid experience in his back pocket to draw from also ♥ (( Hugs for all 3 of you ♥ ♥ ♥))
Shirley glad that Hunter sought out some Mom comfort...ain't nuthin' like it! Well, Mom and Grandma comfort shall we say... hope the next few days will be OK !
Wanda positively glowing report of Soup Kitchen....and Clothes Closet. imagine, when you first started this, you were getting only 8 to 10 diners...things have expanded to the "nth" degree! I think "word of mouth" has been due to the "well-fed mouth"
Best wishes on the Brake Job, Jo.... I have way too many of them, and have another one coming up in 8,000 miles that gives me lots of miles to get up and back to Berkeley Springs for a couple of months... 20 miles at least, one way
Looks like the hurricane will be hitting our region on Sunday morning. Still at category 2! Wow. 100 mile an hour winds and I'm sure lots of rain! Right before the first day of school.
G☼☼D M☺RNING dear Eagle Buds aka "The Shakers". I don't think we've heard from everyone in the highly effected area, but am so glad all who have reported are safe and sound.
Very interesting report on the National Zoo, LYNN ! Animals are far more keyed in to quakes and other natural phenomenon than are we. That's a hint as to why some of your pets are acting a wee bit strange !
Hope everyone got off Ocracoke by 5am as instructed !
Thanks to all who've wished me well ! I'm about 75 % there and believe this bug will be history by this time tomorrow.
Yes, WANDA, I agree with LYNN, you deserve a Crown on your head as well as on your tooth ! God bless you for the pantry work and the way you care for GG !
I did sleep in, but some "toll-free" call rang in at 8:30 - - that's too early, I muted the ring, and went back to sleep.
Time for me to find something besides bib overalls to wear to court, review some paperwork, and mentalize about how to answer questions, period, not add to or take away from, for this court hearing. It regards a county employee...I think I am "on" sometime around 2 pm, maybe...if they get through the other witnesses first I am not on trial, but have to represent our office due to what we do in our line of work with call docmumentation, etc.
It is a nervous experience for me, but I have done it many times.
Lynn, I hope that Christie's house will be okay, not too much structural damage.
Best Wishes for a Good, Safe, Healthy, Joyful Day, Everyone xoxo ♥
This is the first day of school for Columbus students and the rain was pouring about the time Seth was on his way to school. I get to pick him up at 2:30 and get his first comments on the first day of his Junior year at Whetstone High. Hope all is going well.
DANAMO, so happy Aric is "home" and hope he'll soon settle into college life---a bit of a rough way to start though. I'll ask more questions about that wonderful trip of his and Dayton U when we meet on Friday.
Still no sign of Belle and Truder other than the clunking noises. Bah humbug ! I imagine they flew to the highest tree top around in reaction to the quake.
They had issued the evac warning for Ocracoke fairly early in the day yesterday. Wonder if they will run the ferries all night? They usually stop runs at 11pm. Hatteras/Ocracoke is always free; the ones to Dedar Island and Swan Quarter I think do cost a little bit. But that's three directions they can go---even tho' Hatteras is the shortest run at 40 mins. The others are about 2 1/2 hrs.
The last Irene in '05 ended up being a Cat 1....but we had no chance to go to Ocracoke that trip because of the evacuation order that went into effect about 3 days before the storm hit.
I know it's been a gradual thing...but suddenly, as I was outside on this cool beautiful morning, I realized that the summer is just about over. There are no birds singing their hearts out in the morning now. The leaves on the trees are clearly starting to fade. The spots on the baby deer I've been seeing are fading fast now...
MARGY, that's okay---it seems others are getting DANAMO and me mixed up at times---spose' it's because the fact that we are meeting up on Friday is on everyone's mind. ☺ It's actually a bit funny for DANA could be my daughter and I'm so flattered that she wants to see ol' Mama Kay ! We'll all be holding you in our thoughts as you head for court---you'll do just fine !!!!
U.S. National Weather Service At 11:00 a.m. EDT, the center of Hurricane Irene was located near latitude 22.4 north, longitude 73.9 west. Irene is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph and this general motion is expected to continue through tonight. A turn toward the north-northwest and then north are expected Thursday and Thursday night. Irene is forecast to move across the southeastern and central Bahamas through tonight and over the northwestern Bahamas on Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 115 mph, with higher gusts. Irene is a Category Three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the day or so and Irene could become a Category Four hurricane by Thursday.
The NHC forecast track has shifted to the east slightly, but there is there is some question as to whether or not Irene continues on a north-northeast heading or turns back toward the north beyond 2-3 days out and it is important not to focus on specific forecast points three to five days out.
Apparently Hurricane's have a mind of their own and can change course at the drop of a hat. Keep close watch on weather reports and batten down those hatches if you find Irene plans to call you ! We often get spill over wind and rain from such storms, but our reporters don't think Irene is going to effect us here in Central Ohio. Or, as Margy says ☼HI☼ !
LYNNE, DANA is the photographer and I hope she'll get a few pics to share on her blog. It's so much fun that you Momster's are almost as excited as we are ! ♫♫ We Are Family ♪♫♪

I heard those clunks, Judy !
Lynn
I was bee-bopping to WASH-FM on the way to car place, AND watching for all the traffic here and there...
I am off to go Paddling. See you when I come back.
I didn't hear the clunks, Judy.
Hey....we haven't heard from a lot of momsters yet!!!
I BET my workplace got a bunch of calls, Lynn! thanks for confirming that!
Judy
Thanks for sharing the views of all the cool T-shirts
Jo
I meant I had three phone calls right after I asked you if Ed was there
I think it is good that many could share this experience with others, family, friends and co-workers....and hope that any lone "experiencers" were not too frightened.
Nice Try Judy, on your Command...
but the Eagle/s seem to have ignored you :(
another aftershock, 4.2, 33 miles SW of Fredericksburg VA
I finally got so frustrated at my poor tomato crop that I went to Butler's Farm Market and got about 12 tomatoes...have already had one BLT...!
And also Tom Sweetie brought me some meat loaf and garlic mashed potatoes
I hear Geese !!!
ah, the earth moves and here comes Tom Sweetie to the rescue!!!!
That's a pretty heavy-duty aftershock Lynne
didn't hear or feel it here
need to go shower....back later
Best wishes for a good Evening...
Only a few more hours, DanaMo ♥ ☺
xoxo ♥
Have to bring this over from FB for those not on there.....Bill (Red) posted:
News Update!!!!
Seismologists have discovered the cause of the earthquake that hit near D. C. It was the Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves...
I hope DanaWV and her Mom experienced it together and were not frightened
LOL good one, Lynne!
anyone feel any of the aftershocks? I haven't.
no, I haven't felt anything. Anxious to hear from Shirley later since she's much closer.
Paula, you heading to the beach this weekend??
Paula I had seen earlier where you had checked in before all this started and was happy to see you !
But I was running late for the car appt to have wheels checked and couldn't get on to say so
Nope, Paula...no aftershocks felt or heard!
Margy--I can envision you bee-bopping!!
I had copied Red's statement to my FB status, too! Love it!
I sure hope that you AREN'T planning on going to the beach this weekend, Paula!
Former CH. 9 meteorologist said she felt this latest aftershock in her house in Fairfax.
Hope Kay is making a comeback soon!and gets her energy restored....
also thinking about Pa-Linda...
hoping same for her...
okay, bubbles are hollering for me !
Sofa time with Liesl. BBL.
Red is so funny ( :
Going to tv
I aqm debating about the beach...have to wait and see
I pray your place will be safe Paula.
Honestly, I just feel so uneasy....we've had such bad weather related disasters in this country this year, and now the quakes here and CO, and the last thing we need is a terrible hurricane now.
Paula, do you need to prepare your place for a storm? Hmmm???? Not a good weekend for the beach.
Dinner is over. Think I will shower early, get comfy, and read.
It was very interesting to read all the comments on fb and here about the quake. Feel like I had a front row seat to hear all about it.
My pants are wet----Liesl was drooling while she was sleeping!!
DanaMo----was his flight running late making for a tight connection??
thanks Lynn....I hope it is generous, my bank account is just about on E
fyi to others...the County Government had to recalculate some things on our payrolls for some time backwards and we are getting some kind of...compensation....
I get some horrible sounding cat "fight" sounds here Lynn
saw a cat last week near Shepherdstown that was as big as a...
medium sized small dog
I emailed to most of my siblings, Annandale Va near Judie, Baltimore area, Connecticut, here near Hedgesville, and Massachusetts
only heard from the sis in Massachusetts
she did not know about anything about it happening when it occurred, but was glad we're okay down here
Roanoke Mary will check in before too long
Shirley's post...if she has the time....is going to be very interesting I believe
(( Hugs Shirley ♥ ))
Hi,
Am sitting here in my recliner relaxing. I am more tired than I realized.
Glad to hear that everyone is okay. It was scary when the earthquake hit.
Drooling dog! Wonderful!
What in the world is that noise at the cam??
Margy, she said the calculations she did yesterday were right on-spot....$300+ before taxes for her.
Back from watching a movie
Lynne - Now that I believe!!! Leave it to Red... lol
Need to check out some emails....
BBILW
Welcome home Shirley!
How is Hunter?
what kind of noises Lynn, I did not have it up until now
That IS cutting it close, DanaMo, for Aric !
Lynn, I think it was you....I got the LED light thing at Food Lion!
Hunter is wound up. He would not go to bed until Kathryn went upstairs. He says he is worried about the hurricane.
Just put two new pics on my blog.
Cracks have been discovered at the top of the Washington Monument.
SHIRLEY I see your post where you answered my question. I am glad you and HUNTER are OK and also KATHRYN of course.
I also see where ARIC made his flight and DANAMO is now happy....Welcome Home ARIC.
Well, I have already fallen asleep. Said I was going to leave, but didn't...feel asleep here in my chair. Woke up with a dry mouth. Fell asleep with my mouth open. Good grief...not a pretty picture. LOL
Shirley, I would have been frightened as well.
Paula, better at the top than at the bottom!
Hoda, sorry the racing was so difficult this time. Very impressive, though.
DanaMo, give Aric some momster hugs when you see him - soon now.
Shirley, glad you are all well and accounted for.
Right, Judie??? Wonder if Red made that up himself??
No earthquake coverage??? ARGH! No fair! It is obvious that they can happen ANYWHERE! Shouldn't need a rider for that! It's not like you can build someplace to prevent it like you can with floods.
Thanks, Lynne---I'll look at Food Lion---where the lightbulbs are? Or flashlights?
The sandperson has arrived to remind me that I have to get up early to get my "do" did tomorrow.
The night light is on a little brighter tonight so all will feel a bit safer in the darkness. Restful sleep for all. Nightmares are NOT allowed.
yes Lynn, where they have the lightbulbs! I think it was $7 or a bit less...
Hoda, so sorry the paddling was so difficult... :(
Shirley, did you ever get the shoes for Hunter?? How was the game tonight?
Oh my, had another senior moment while speed reading. Apologies to Kay and DanaMo.
Came back to say I hope Paula will not have to cope with any hurricane damage.
Glad Megan is okay.
Bye
Margy, so nice of Tom Sweetie to treat you so sweetly!!
Sending some Momster Hugs to Hunter, and YOU, Shirley....
hope your precious grandson can resolve his fears about the hurricane....and be okay
grannyblt, so very good to SEE you, glad you are okay too !
This earthquake sure has put Mineral Va on the map, what a neat name for a town !
just happy hearing that some of you WERE with your loved ones when this happened...
oh dear, Lynn...a crack in the Shanghai Bridge ?? I guess Caro crossed it OK !
Grannyblt---good to see you, gal!!! Did you enjoy the Alaska trip?? Did you see lots of eagles?
Bobbi (Robyn's Mom) was there this summer, too! Lucky gals, for sure!
How is your Mom doing?
Margy, remember---we have a Mineral County!
if she hasn't already reported that, I guess she will be
Scary ... apartment bldg evacuated in Hillcrest Hgts, Maryland...lots of people are affected by this
Safety has to prevail...even thought it is a huge hassle for a lot of people
Lynne1----can you post pics of your trip??
I'm just wondering if the earth moves when Margy sees her tom Sweetie.
puts a little bit of a comparative perspective on the problems that a really huge earthquake causes
no not quite Lolly, but he is a nice person
He's from the West Coast so he has been through the earthquake drill,
said he used to pack supplies for three days' worth....was in Washington State for a long time
Now something is backing up at nest. Beep...beep
Time for my Good Nights...know I am going to miss Wanda's post...hope everything went well with her and Gene and GG's day
Prayers for a lot of new things tonight, and the standing prayers for wellness
I'm sleeping in Wednesday, have to go to court in the afternoon, need to be fresh for that
God Bless Us, Everyone...Everywhere
xoxo ♥
More clanging and banging! Wonder what is going on there???
Hoda, hope your muscles won't be screaming at you tomorrow!
Lynne1 saw the bear pics on FB!!!
Lynne1---nice bear pics on FB!! Thanks!
Glad Soup Kitchen was another success Wanda!
I guess everyone is worn out by now, includidng me.
GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS FOR ALL
Margy, Hunter has a flair for the dramatic and is not above using it to get what he wants.
He refused to shop for shoes at J.C. Penney. But not because he is too fancy for that store. He first claimed that he wanted to go to Target.
I think he just wants to express his opinion, even when his opinion defies logic.
remember we had a 3.6 quake in July last year in Georgetown, MD.
You got me curious and loaded the cam. Hear sounds but have no idea what is going on, not loud enough.
It's possible the roads would flood, then I would be stuck if I was there ☺
(((Hugs for all♥)))
Ok, Lynne1--enlarged avatar pic---great one with the kids!!!
Like I sorta fell asleep in the recliner
Saying Good Night Everyone
Prayers for all and Hugs for all
♥♥♥♥♥♥
WANDA glad things went OK at the soup kitchen and am glad you are safe. What about your MOM?What was her experience?
LOLLY I only get an open mike sound from the lve feed.
PAULA you still have a few days to go to figure out if you are going to the beach hose...maybe things will be clearer by then as to its trajectory and its force.
Wow---damage in Baltimore, too! Older buildings.....
Heading to bed.
Night all! Hope you get a good nights sleep after todays exciting experience.
Sweet dreams....and not of quakes or 'canes!
Wanda, glad your soup kitchen was a success, as usual!!
Lynne2, I had forgotten about your previous E/Q experience!
Shirley, where does Hunter get the drama king stuff from? Has he always been that way, or is it since the break up and move?
Quite a bit of damage in Culpeper.
State of Emergency in Culpeper
yeah Lynn, and I remember saying that I wished I could have felt it better....got my wish today. I must be careful what I wish for! I guess it was pretty scary at the time, but no one was hurt so far as I've heard, and not too much damage although I suspect more will be discovered in the days to come. So now it seems fun to have been through it!
I think the drama has increased since the break-up and move, Lynn. He can be a handful.
Have a good night and prayers for all!
I hope you are not hoping for a hurricane, Lynne.
Poor Christie---news just said that basement floor cracks are signs of serious structural damage.....sure hope it's not the case for the kids
Shirley, maybe Hunter should be getting some counseling. Have you suggested that to Kat? The experts recommend it for all children of divorce nowadays.
Counseling already underway, Lynn.
Kathryn became concerned awhile back.
And, thanks for the concern. Hunter is precious to me.
Hi, Everyone,
Here is a picture of the waves at Huntington Beach, where we were yesterday.
So tired. I think I am going to call it quits.
Good night. Rest well, everyone.
Good, Shirley. Of course he's precious! All grands are! So special, too.
Wish I had a key to unwind myself. Maybe tub and book will help. Wish I had fixed a drink this evening--that would have mellowed and calmed, I bet.
Thanks, Andy! Glad you enjoyed the beach....looks lovely.
I, too, will say goodnight, and God Bless us, one and all.
Sorry getting on here so late!Of what I've read so far, seemns all the Momsters and Dadsters are OK!!
Had phone calls, lots of emails to answer & then a short Panda nap in chair!☺
I LUV Red's reason for quake!!!
I sent note earlier to daughter & SIL and reply was "lightening, earthquake---get out of town!!"
Then we can also add perhaps Irene rain.
Hope Everyone is having Pleasant
Feather Dreams ;>)
I read the papers and I will trust that all is well overnight. Sweet dreams and God Bless every one.
I'll sign off now in the hopes Belle and Truder visit in the morning.
Oh, how I love seeing Loretta's avatar of HIDEY!
G☼☼D M☼RNING EAGLE BUDS I can smell the coffee a brewing
LORI you sound like me I have about 6 pair of glasses couple of them are broke on the arm also but I keep around for when I can find the others I need to go buy some more I keep one for work and the others at the house I broke two pair just this week alone they only feel off my head and hit the floor and broke the arm cheap plastic I guess I am cheap I got to the dollar tree and only a dollar
KAY I hope you are feeling like your ole self soon
Tom comes to the rescue I see NICE!! what a nice gesture of him
GrannyBit Did you get lots of eagle pictures in Alaska I know they have lots
WANDA so glad the soup kit was a success as always and I you know how it is when there is only one cookie left or the last peice of cake NO ONE wants to take the LAST of anything I think MAYBE
Sounds like Belle and Truder were doing remodeling on the nest with all the noise and when did Truder get his licence to drive that truck that was heard backing up I wonder what it was We will never know I guess
HI JUDYE!!!!
Boy do I need coffee this morning. I am not used to late nights.
Ok I buzzed through last nites comments and no visit yet I still think I got up to early need to rethink resetting the clock for later
HI L☼ri I just heard a small noise on the cam box
HEY DANAMO I'm on my second cup you need to catch up with us LOL
OH JUDYE, that was so exciting last night when you heard that clunking and MARGY confirmed it! YEAH!!!
color are at the nest and then they went aways
colors back
ok that was practice with bolds I still can do
HI DANAMO!
How was your reunion with ARIC last night?
I do need to catch up!
LOL JudyE
It was short, but good. Monte brought him up to his dorm room and thought he seemed a little "lost". Everyone else has been here for days and he has just gotten here and has class at 8:00 this morning. I have a feeling the day is going to be very overwhelming for him. I brought his laundry to the hotel and I'll do it for him today. We will have dinner with him after his last class. Hopefully we will have a couple of hours with him.
Wish we would have a visit this morning!
Ok I'm heading over to the rockin chair for a little relaxing and off this chair
OTWIG
GrannyBLT so happy to hear about your eagle sightings in Alaska! Funny that there was a quake while you were there!
DanaMO, so nice to hear about your brief reunion with Aric... Poor kid, that is one crazy schedule today!
Good Golly, Good Morning PAULA!!!
How nice to have you here early, though I see it's not your choice. Sorry abour the alarms.
Good morning,
Checking the cam.
Going out for a run...catch everyone later.
Sad that we didn't have an eagle visit this morning!
CROWN goes on my tooth, not on my head;)
Good morning eagle peeps.
Hi Thelma! Everyone did fine except for Lynn's daughter with some cracks in their basement floor which could be a bad thing....MTBR
Good morning all!
Wanda, you DESERVE a crown on your head!!!
Margy, Carolyn and Charlie were going to the bridge this AM and check it---and will report it if she SEES what she felt (twice).
Quake at the Zoo
Good Morning - I am up and about.
Read the blog and looks as though all is well except for Brother Cat! I hope he settles down for you Lynne.
I strongly think that we need a sighting of our Eagle Couple. I wonder
if they have been seen by any NCTC personnel?
Nothing to do today except I need a
brake job before venturing out of here.
Ocracoke Evacuation
Good Morning Eagle Pals ☺
Welcome Back Aric...
and best wishes and prayers on a smooth transition for him, DanaMo...
you and Monte just keep providing your love and support and encouragement...he will get through this okay, and has that wonderful Madrid experience in his back pocket to draw from also ♥
(( Hugs for all 3 of you ♥ ♥ ♥))
Shirley
glad that Hunter sought out some Mom comfort...ain't nuthin' like it!
Well, Mom and Grandma comfort shall we say...
hope the next few days will be OK !
Paula
hope you find that the alarms going off, was not a big problem, wow, that's something early to be awakened by !
Annandale Anne, my sister who lives about four miles from Judie, described her earthquake experience like this:
" Here, some books fell, some small framed fotos fell, my recliner chair with me in it, wiggled. "
Wanda
positively glowing report of Soup Kitchen....and Clothes Closet.
imagine, when you first started this, you were getting only 8 to 10 diners...things have expanded to the "nth" degree!
I think "word of mouth" has been due to the "well-fed mouth"
BRAVO !
see your comment about the bridge, Lynn....will be interesting to hear about what Charlie and Carolyn think about it
Best wishes on the Brake Job, Jo.... I have way too many of them, and have another one coming up in 8,000 miles
that gives me lots of miles to get up and back to Berkeley Springs for a couple of months...
It regards a county employee...I think I am "on" sometime around 2 pm, maybe...if they get through the other witnesses first
I am not on trial, but have to represent our office due to what we do in our line of work with call docmumentation, etc.
It is a nervous experience for me, but I have done it many times.
Lynn, I hope that Christie's house will be okay, not too much structural damage.
Best Wishes for a Good, Safe, Healthy, Joyful Day, Everyone
xoxo ♥
I guess I could wear my dress black bibs
...NOT !
can't say much more about the hearing on here but it is in the local paper
Oh,
they did have to evacuate the courtroom yesterday when the earthquake occurred, wish I had been there for THAT !!!
Ew Magpie, I do not like going to court. Went to traffic court once and that was enough of an experience for me!
Howdy there ☼HI☼ Sunshine
Today I hope the other 25% will fall into line !!
Cool about the zoo Lynn! Funny how the Pandas didn't seem to be affected!
Yah, Kay
We are there for the prosecution...it's the DEFENSE questions that bug me !
okay, better shake a leg and get along little dogey
Glad you are on the mend Kay!
(((HUGS))) Margy, you'll do just fine!
well excuse me, DanaMo I called you Kay!
it was YOU that posted about traffic court...
Yes, it was me, I had a tendency towards fast driving in my younger years! LOL!
Can't wait to see you Kay. It will be so nice to meet face to face. I am glad you are feeling better!!
Wow, Dana and Kay....isn't tomorrow the BIG DAY??
Thanks LYNNE ! How is Brother Cat doing by now ?
No, Friday is the big day for DANA and me. I'm getting so excited !!!!
U.S. National Weather Service
At 11:00 a.m.
I think DANA and hubby head for Indy tomorrow, then begin their trip toward home on Friday.
I'm getting excited too!!!!! I have to hope I can lurk on the blog at work for updates! Take LOTS of pictures please!!!!!!
