43 minutes to go for Atlantis.

Hoda said...

Good Morning MARGY. SO glad you are here. I'll pour you a cup of Earl Grey as you watch the landing it will be calming to the nerves.

The nest is getting lighter in just the few minutes since I last mentioned it.

Hoda said...

6 1/2 minutes to entry interface for Atlantis...36 minutes away from landing. AMAZING that they can re-enter in such a short period of time...God Speed Atlantis, I keep saying it so do bear with me...

Hoda said...

1600 miles an hour is the speed of the craft!!! Stunning, I bet no blogger cops or any othr kind of cops would issue her a ticket...

Hoda said...

Sixteen thousand miles an hour is what I meant to type...

Hoda said...

It is descending at a rate of 500 feet per second!!!

Hoda said...

A good crowd building outside the Johnson Space Centre

Hoda said...

That would be Kennedy Space Centre not Johnson...too early in the morning for me...LOL

Hoda said...

Landing in Florida not Texas...

magpie said...

What would be neat, Hoda , is if we would have an Eagle land in the nest same time as Atlantis touches down

simply amazing all of it, isn't it

Glad to spend the morning with you here ☺

I took live feed down...couldn't do a thing with that on

magpie said...

there is a crowd at Johnson in Houston also Hoda...you heard it right !

Hoda said...

Landing site is well lit and "wheel stop" is due in 26 minutes.

magpie said...

the Moon at about half full and waning, nearly overhead here, and Jupiter is the nest brightest object to it East

Hoda said...

There is a slight wind at the Sycamour Palace nest site

Hoda said...

MARGY That would be SOOOOOO exciting if Belle or Truder landed in the nest at the same time Atlantis touches down.

Hoda said...

18 minutes to touchdown...God's Speed Atlantis!

magpie said...

Astronauts back on the air !

Hoda said...

ISS saw Atlantis' plasma as they re-entered earth atmosphere...AMAZING...

magpie said...

I'm looking for some women in the control room, don't see any yet...but we have commented before, all the shirts and ties...so professional looking

If Truder WOULD land, then Atlantis might be an alternatre name for him - just a thought

Hoda said...

ISS will pass over the Cape and be visible to the sight 9 minutes before Atlantis lands

magpie said...

My grandson James's mother, (My stepdaugher) is in Fort Myers Beach Florida...if she would be up - she would see someting as it flies over...
brother has a place in Naples but he is in Connecticut now

magpie said...

ISS going to fly over Kennedy 9 mins before Atlantis touches down, how neat is that...

magpie said...

LOL- Hoda
We are derfinitly perking up to the same kinds of information ☺

Hoda said...

Atlantis slowed down from 25 times the speed of sound to 10 times the speed of sound...Stunning

magpie said...

I hope Judy is up, she would hear the Sonic booms 3 or so mins before touchdown, as we should on the TV

Hoda said...

Ten minutes to touch down.
Our Phantom Eagle and MARGY and me are cheering for Belle and Truder to come down

hedgie said...

I'm here....y-a-w-n.....

magpie said...

Good Morning Lynn!!
Was hoping you would join us !!!

hedgie said...

There she is!

Hoda said...

Good Morning Lynn I am on my second pot of Earl Grey Tea, I will pour you a cup...Good to see you ...

If Truder lands at the same time as Atlantis I would vote with you MARGY that his new name become Atlantis...

hedgie said...

Heard the booms.
Final lap around the center.

Hoda said...

That would be so EXCITING to hear the Booms, I wonder if JudyE will hear them???

Colour at the nest.

hedgie said...

Thanks, Hoda---have my iced tea at hand!

hedgie said...

No real concerns for safety at this point....home free, shall we say! AMEN!

Hoda said...

One minute till TOUCH DOWN... GOD'S SPEED ATLANTIS.

hedgie said...

TOUCHDOWN!!!!

hedgie said...

Excellent.....and sad...:(

Hoda said...

There is a touch down and she is back THANK GOD.

hedgie said...

Final stop......

Good to share with you both, Hoda and Margy.

Good job for sure, NASA....and God bless America.

Back to bed for me. Later, fellow space lovers.

Hoda said...

AmaziNG sight to see her come into view...Commander reports Wheel Stop and an end of AMERICA. As I havew often heard it chanted and as I repeat USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!!!
God Bless you all and your ingenuity and strength and sense of adventure.

Hoda said...

I guess Truder likes being called Truder and did not want a name change...NO eagle has landed at the nest yet...

magpie said...

Prayer before touchdown, and now the prayer after touchdown.

Thanks be to God ...
and to the entire Mission Team

Hoda said...

Part of my comment was eaten by the blooger cop!!!END OF AMERICAN SPCAE SHUTTLE PROGRAM IS WHAT I TYPED.
Not end of America God Forbids.

magpie said...

Hoda
Truder missed an excellent opportunity didn't he !

It's a joy, your enthusiasm for our things here in the States........Thank You !!! xoxo ♥

Hoda said...

I second that MARGY Thank God and the crew...

Night Lynn. Cool that you heard the booms.

magpie said...

there will probably be some replays of the landing from different angles pretty soon

Knew what you meant to type Hoda ! ☺

Hoda said...

I am impressed by how professional the landing team effort is.

magpie said...

going to sneak out and water the plants in between watching the site

Our Eagles are probably out fishing !

magpie said...

I heard the booms too, was glad the man had stopped talking just a second beforehand

magpie said...

from touchdown to wheel stop,
64 seconds...

Hoda said...

The live feed seems frozen. I refreshed the camera an there is not a leaf moving and it is till very still the timer is on...

Maybe like MARGY said they are out fishing and will not be here this morning??? I will wait a bit longer just to make sure and then I will give my bed another go.

Hoda said...

So pretty in Florida around where the space shuttle has landed. It is full day light and the colours are soft and what a wonderful history the shuttle Atlantis has...I wonder what they will do with it now???

Hoda said...

Slight movement in the leaves at the nest so I kow the camera is not frozen...

KAY have a GREAT visit with your friend. Keep us posted. Lunch sounds good for her noon arrival...stay cool both...

Hoda said...

How are the plants MARGY? Do you water them every day?

magpie said...

Hoda
Yes, try to, either late in evening, or early in the morning
I fill gallon-water bottles then pour into Watering Can, I only have the plants here in front of the apartment
many in containers and a few in the ground

Atlantis will go on display....but I can't remember where...

and add to your comments:
Best wishes for a Great Fun Visit with your Original Best Friend, Kay...☺

and Good Morning GLori, when you have a peek in today and
Hello and Hugs to you, Mom Nancy and your Dad and Family xo ♥

Hoda said...

Well it is now 6:38 AM EDT and I guess that makes it a NO SHOW for the resident eagles.I hope they have a great day...Truder certainly missed an opportunity to have votes for a name change...what was he thinking I wonder??? LOL

magpie said...

It is very still here Hoda...no air movement to speak of

my plants overall look good, especially my Megan Flowers ! but tomato production is very low :(

magpie said...

astronauts are getting out of the Shuttle sooner than I expected...hope to see them before I have to leave for work

better start saying my exit greetings ! but I'll be watching

Best Wishes for a Great Day, Everyone

xoxo ♥

magpie said...

Great spending the morning with you Hoda ♥

Hoda said...

MARGY I tried tomatoes las tyear and they were slow growing here too. I only get morning sun where I had the pot and while I got a few ripe tomatoes I get a lot fo fried green tomatoes at the endo of the season.

Thanks for telling me that Atlantis is going to go on Display...this is what has happened to Endeavour also.

Good morning Lori and Family. I second MARGY's Prayers to you and to your Mom and Family. May there be good news today as to your Mom's progress.

JUDYE will be with Jordyn today...I bet they will have fun visiting parks.

Hoda said...

Have a GREAT DAY MARGY...It was wonderful to spend time with you at the Sycamour Palace Café. Also with Lynn...

Hoda said...

OK Flight control handed off Atlantis to the ground crew. An historic moment...BBL

Hoda said...

Except for our Phantom Eagle no visits to the nest from Belle or Truder this morning.

magpie said...

astronauts will be out of the transport vehicle NOW , then they willl do that walkaround of Atlantis and say a few words

T-Bird said...

Good morning eagle peeps.

hedgie said...

Is it morning already? Again? HA!
CBS 20-year space reporter says that the landing is like a funeral....disappointment, bittersweet, etc. Our astronauts will now have to pay Russia $60G per seat to travel to ISS. Sure cheaper than a shuttle, but just how much can we REALLY trust them and their technology???

hedgie said...

Hi, Thelma! Did you get up to watch the shuttle landing?
Sure hope Hoda got back to sleep----truly the middle of the night for her up there in BC!

hedgie said...

Before I went back to bed, I changed the channel to CBS news....their on-tarmac image was much better than the NASA image.
Left TV on so news could help me get back to sleep. The stupid Beggin' Strips commercial made Liesl start barking at 7:15.....so still no sleep-in for me.

T-Bird said...

Hey Hedgie-no I didn't see the landing but wish I had known about it I was up until about 5:30 this morning. Urg Where can I see it replayed?

hedgie said...

Have to bake a cake. Christie's b-day celebration is this afternoon....she has been on such a strict diet/exercise regimen...and she decided she wanted a couple of pieces of chocolate cake with choco/PB icing...so will just give her two pieces...and a couple for Shannon, and guess I will just have to eat the rest! Big sacrifice on my part, huh??? LOL!
So...going to go bake the cake!

T-Bird said...

Quiet this morning.
Later my fine eagle momsters and dadsters.

Kay said...

LORI, I don't know about honorary, but I can be onery, that's for sure !

WANDA, thanks for the fruit salad hint ! It's going to be yummy and pleasing to the eye, thanks to you !

What a lump in the throat landing we had today ! Saw it in replay on The Today Show. I'm so much sadder than I realized I'd be. It hit hard to realize it's the last in my lifetime. The emotion in the voices of the Commander and the ground crew choked me up. What an amazing era !

paula eagleholic said...

Morning, all!

Tbird, are you becoming a night bird?

Missed the shuttle this morning, saw the replay. Bittersweet moment for sure. I wish we were continuing the program...

Lori, Hope your Mom is feeling up to some breakfast this morning! So, she's a whirling dervish, eh? :-)

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Tbird, give all those doggies a belly rub and a biscuit from me!

Lori, bet you are missing your animals! Go see the birds!

hedgie said...

On this day in history: In 1861, the First Battle of Bull run in Manassas,VA was fought---the first MAJOR battle of the Civil War. The Confederates won in a terrible rout....and DC society picnic-ed on a hillside to watch. Bunch of dummies.

Kay said...

HODA, MARGY n' LYNN, enjoyed your commentary on the Atlantis landing ! Sorry Truder and/or Belle declined our open invitation yet again.

Hi THELMA, always good to "see" you've put in an appearance--just wish it were more often !

HODA, I, too, appreciate the enthusiastic interest you take in the USA ! We hear too little here about events in Canada, our good, solid, dependable neighbor to the north.

Time to put the finishing touches on "companies coming" things. I know I won't be here much for a couple of days, but will be thinking of and praying for you all ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Kay said...

Oh, HODA, make that neighbour, how bout it ? ☺

Lynne2 said...

Good Morning all! Or is it? So there I was, on the potty, barely awake, when suddenly in a fraction of a nano second I heard it coming from behind me and WHAM right into the back of my head....STINKBUG. What a fabulous way to start a day. NOT!!!

Then, I opened the door to take the dogs out for a walk and WHAM...the "Maryzon" in full hot humid force. GROSS!!!

But.....(and I borrowed this from Glo's FB status this morning)

"I was going to complain again about how hot it is, and then I realized that at least... 1) It isn't 110 degrees; 2) I'm not 5,700 miles from home; 3) I'm not dressed in a full BDU uniform & helmet & carrying 70+ lbs.; & 4) There is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Thanks to all who serve!!"

Lynne2 said...

DanaMo has posted that she is sitting by the pool drinking coffee this morning in sunny CA! Sure wish I had a pool!

Kay, hope you and your company have a great visit!

Did not make it for the Atlantis landing this morning, but enjoyed reading the comments from Hoda, Margy and Lynn. Thank God they are home safe but so sad it's over....

hedgie said...

T-bird....if you have the NASA channel they replay it often. Otherwise, nasatv.com probably has the video replay available.

DanaMo said...

Good morning Eagle friends from not so sunny right now California. Very overcast here in Anaheim. I'm sitting a the pool while everyone else is asleep.

Got a report from my dog sitter that "nothing is broken, eaten, or ruined" So sweet that he knows I am worried about the dogs. I told him to text me and I wouldn't bother him!

DanaMo said...

Eeew gross Lynn@ how I hate those stink bugs and how they dive bomb on you! Yuck! What a way to wake up!

hedgie said...

DanaMo---sorry the sun isn't shining....remember the song "It never tains in southern California?" Not true!! But sure doesn't happen often, so maybe it's just a morning haze!

Glad that things are going well at home.

Do you realize how close you are to Andy (Ms. Bookworm)??? She lives im Anaheim! And Jim (movin') is nearby in Santa Ana. Too bad you all didn't arrange a gathering!

DanaMo said...

I didn't know that. I am not familiar enough with all our eagle momsters and dadsters. That would have been fun!

Just saw that my battery is low and I'm out at the pool. Guess I have to go plug in:( I was enjoying the company.

BFN!

Lolly said...

Good morning! Has taken me forever to catch up on reading the blog.

Thanks HODA, MARGY, and LYNN for the play by play description of the Atlantis return. HODA, you were certainly up early for it!!

Lynne2 said...

glad the dogs are behaving...so far!

Well Lynn, I don't think it ever TAINS in So. Ca. LOL!!!

Lolly said...

Lori, thinking of you again today. Do hope it is a good day for your Mom and that going home soon is a sure thing.

I called my sister yesterday and they released Dan yesterday morning and they are home! He is on pureed food for a week and has two doctor appointments next week. Please continued prayers for his recovery. They were so excited to be home. Have already received an email from Dan.☺

Lolly said...

Lynn, sounds like Liesl is doing so well with her schooling. Smart little pup!

Lynne2 said...

great news Lolly!

Lolly said...

Didn't tell you that we had a scare with Annie. When we returned from out night stay in Dallas we had to go searching for her. She was behind a chair in a guest room. Even canned food did not lure her out. That really concerned me, but she eventually came out and ate. We kept an eye on her and she is back to normal.

Lolly said...

Think I am going to mosey outside. Need to do some dead heading with my daisies. 84 right now, but the humidity is up. Groan!

magpie said...

Good Morning Eagle Loved Ones.

Those Momster prayers are powerful indeed!

LOLLY, wonderful news about Dan. Prayers will continue during recovery.

Thank you HODA and MARGY for being today's Early Birds. Margy, a space shuttle name is an excellent idea for Truder. We had the disasters with Challenger and Columbia, perhaps those would be fitting and a tribute to our shuttle program we loved so much. Challenger could mean many things.

If anyone else needs blue purple Columbine seeds I have lots and would be happy to mail them. Also black eyed
Susans and tall pink (purple) coneflower seeds.

Mom is doing VERY WELL this morning! We have turned the corner. She's eating and walking and feels well.

PAULA, I do miss my babies, but I talk to KATE every night and morning and get a full report. All is well.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. I love and adore you all !!! Really. A lot. ; )

Yea, Lori!!! So very happy for the good report. Your Mom is to be admired! More (((gentle hugs))) for her. I love it...Faith, Hope and Lily Hugs! I think we have some more words to add to our Momster dictionary.

Just came in from the yard...I am drenched in sweat. Humidity is way up...staying in now.

Jack is on new pills for his neck and he is clobbered!! I do NOT like that!

Lolly said...

LOL Lynn! Lolly, Looly, Hey You...I answer to it all!

Mema Jo said...

Good early afternoon! Thanks to Hoda, Margy and Lynn for this morning's
commentary on the landing of Atlantis.
Emotional for sure.

I'm not moving fast today (or any other day)I feel great but just thinking about the heat makes me slow down. Lolly I don't know how you manage the heat and work so much in your beautiful
yard.

Thanks Wanda for last night's comment to Joseph and Anthony.

More adventures this morning, but I've got the computer going and on the INet again.

A possible malware program (SYSTEM PROGRAM) tried to access the Internet before I got on it and was blocked by McAfee. I'll see what I can find later, but there's a chance it's left over from the trojan I had.

I hope you are taking the fluids you need and hanging in there. Have a beautiful day.

LOLLY also excellent news about DAN and I am glad they are home and communicating by email. Laurel is soon going to be home and how cute about Joseph pulling teeth...
I had better get my day started, late late late, but enjoyed my morning visit with MARGY and LYNN.

Hoda said...

DANAMO good report from the home front and I hope you enjoy your time in California.

KAY While you are "o't an' bout" enjoy your visit with your friend. Your Neighbour to the North has lots of gratitude love and respect to our neighbour to the South...as my students used to say, " you guys Rock"...

Mema Jo said...

Have a fun time Lynn! Maybe another
lunchtime Margarita would be nice..

My day is slowing passing me by
I think I will go ahead and pull out
some clothes to pack for long weekend
down at the beach. Take me a while
to make decisions on what and how much to pack - I always over pack and just
bring it all home as clean as it went!

Feet up first!

Mema Jo said...

FB: Candy and Hubby went to the pool
Sounds refreshing!

Lolly said...

Hoda....can hardly wait for my package!!!! Would be so very nice. I know I should be very please with how well the immediate yard is looking, however, I know what the water bill will look like. It would horrify all of you! And, it really hurts to look at the yard "down front.". No pecan crop, not enough water to fill out the nuts. :(

I've only had the chance to check in once or twice a day over the past few days, but have searched for your posts and information on how your Mom has been doing.

May your Mom continue to gain strength with each passing hour and may God heal her body in His time so she can regain her life back better than before!!

I love you Momsters, too!! You're all the BEST!

Lolly - Glad to hear your BIL Dan is home and hopefully resting comfortably.

Okay......back to work!!

Good afternoon.

Congratulations to the Atlantis crew and all their support.

DanaMo, so glad you arrived safely and were able to enjoy some time outside. Sure hope it doesn't tain while you're visiting. Glad you received a good dog report.

Lori, good news about your Mom's improvement. Yes, doing too much too soon is common for bypass patients. She will quickly learn physical limitations.

Lynn, if you are really concerned about leftover cake, I would be more than happy to relieve you of that huge responsibility. Have a nice birthday celebration.

Lolly, good news about Dan. Know you are relieved he is doing so well. Ah, we have James the Wise and Joseph the Toothless.

I like the name Atlantis better than Truder. JMHO.

Lynne2, not to be too indelicate but I suspect you took care of business very quickly this morning.

Kay, suspect your guests have arrived. Do have a wonderful visit.

Jo, I am sorry I left your address on my desk last night. I promise the grumpy sandperson will NOT find your b___h address.

Took a long-time friend to lunch today for her birthday. We had a nice visit. The heat is truly oppressive. Soaking wet from car to restaurant.

Hi Hoda.

Going to put my feet up. Maybe a nap.

Lori O. said...

LINDA, thanks I needed that message.

I'm outside on the cafeteria patio and don't know whether to cry or get some sleep. MOM was doing so well this morning, then the nausea kicked in again and she didn't mention it until a few minutes ago...Three hours after it started. I understand not wanting to be a pain, but .... UGHHHHHHHH! That is not anger. It is utter discouragement. Now she is not eating again and whole cycle begins once more. I immediately called the nurse - Praise GOD for Emily, today's nurse - who came in with the Zofran in her hand and gave it right away.

So after my father returned from the cafeteria for lunch, I told him what happened and said if the doctor comes and I'm not here you'll know what to tell him. He said he didn't understand any of it, and I would have to write it down for the doctor. Major UGHHHHH!

I'm sorry if I sound ungrateful. I'm just discouraged...AND so thankful I have this wonderful family for love and support. Thank you!

Blessings to all for a wonderful, safe and healthful day...and praying for cooler weather tomorrow. Big Hugs everyone!

Hi, Everyone,

Finally got a bit of relief from my neck last night, and slept in late today--not a good thing. Have a LOT of transcription to try to get done, so I can turn it in at school tonight.

Hubby did wake me up to see news coverage of the Shuttle landing early, early this morning. Hope most of you got to see it. Haven't had a moment to read back here.

Will check in later tonight, after school. Praying for everyone, and all our pets and favorite critters.
HAGD, everyone! Later.... :o]

Judie said...

Hi JudyE. Hope you and Jordyn are having a fun day. I can't take credit for our newest word. Lynn made a type earlier and I stole it.

Loretta, only creature moving outside for me to watch is a wasp. Desperately trying to find a way in to the AC. Don't know how the outside critters survive...guess far too many do not but I choose not to think about it. Hope dr. appt. was okay. Drove by a Ledo Pizza a few days ago and thought about you.

Andy, glad you neck is improving and hope you get all the transcription done for tonight.

Judie said...

that would be "Lynn made a typo"

paula eagleholic said...

Lori, (((Big Lily Hope and Faith hugs))) for you.

Tell your Mom not to worry about seeming like a PIA, but if something is wrong, she needs to let you know right away.

The recovery process is more about baby steps than anything else. Once you get past this hurdle, she'll heal.

And that's what we're here for...encouragement, love and support. Go take a walk, grab a snack, some coffee. Take a little time for yourself.

stronghunter said...

Oh, Lori, I am so sorry your mother has had a small setback.

It does sound like you need to get some sleep yourself. Maybe, if it is possible, a small trip outside the hospital would be a good idea. Find a nearby restaurant or a place to get a good book--air conditioned, of course.

And remember, we are thinking about you. Do take care of yourself.

The doctor was in and said the nausea doesn't usually last this long, but it's not unusual, nor is the lack of appetite. He said she would be going home on Saturday, maybe tomorrow if she wanted to! She is healing well and is not having pain, thank heavens.

I actually laughed when I got back to her floor because I walked smack into her doctor! Dang, Momster prayers at work again. I love you all.

paula eagleholic said...

Lori, those are two good things...healing well and no pain! Guess the appetite will return soon enough! Get yourself a good dinner! I know, I know, don't feel guilty about it!

Lolly said...

(((Hugs))) Lori! Hang in there! Prayers for the nausea to pass and for her appetite to return. Wish I lived closer to sit with your Mom and give you a rest.

Lori, good news about your Mom. I know it can be frustrating. (((((HUGS))))) to you! Funny about running into her doctor. Momster prayers are really powerful things!

Good early evening.

Back from a very hot but nice afternoon. 104° in town, 100° here! SO oppressive. But we aren't shoveling snow or sliding on ice, so it's okay!
Had a yummy lunnner....and Christie got a chuckle out of her half-cake!

hedgie said...

Now to catch up with all y'all!
Ooohhh---see a huge horsefly on the window....sure glad it's outside! Their bite is so nasty!

hedgie said...

Lori, what a great Mom report!!! She's on a roll, isn't she???!!! Hope she doesn't overdo!

Jo, one thing I will do if we get a house is leave clothes there so that all I have to pack is puter, toiletries and Liesl!!!

Wonder if Candy has made it to the beach yet???? She's only a couple of miles away and had said she hadn't gone even once this year!

hedgie said...

Linda, glad you had a few minutes to drop in. How are the baby bunnies doing?

JudyE---your pepper prices are much more reasonable....guess they are grown in FL, right??

Judie....come have a piece of cake for dessert! I know what you mean about just walking acorss the parking lot! SO glad that I have remote start....truck was cooled when I got back in! Sure helps me breathe! I like Challenger for a new Truder name!

hedgie said...

Lori , you can vent to us anytime. But don't be discouraged! Her symptoms are not too unusual. They should be giving the Zofran on a set schedule for 3 days. Prayers continue!

Lolly, what med did they put Jack on now?

hedgie said...

Hi, Lowreeda! Stay inside!!!! My hummers are NOT eating.....this air is probably too heavy for them to fly much!

hedgie said...

No Margarita or other alolcholic beverage with our meal today, except Shannon did have a beer. I wasn't in the mood for anything flavored in this heat!

Wishing them luck

While I like Atlantis better than Truder, I really like Challenger best. Very appropriate in several ways.

Glad Lynn and company had a nice lunch.

Good Evening - I have a piece of strawberry pie for later...
Lynn - Candy, I think, mainly goes to a
pool - they went today and it was closed
due to thundering...
If I went down more often to the house I
would definitely have nothing to take
except my oxygen equipment and Me.
The news station in order to cool viewers ran a segment of our snow storm and it did help for a while.

Lorie - glad you ran into your mom's dr in the hallway instead of sitting in her room waiting. With the heat I hope he keeps her another day even though there is AC in their home.

Lolly - Jack's meds are knocking him
off his feet but are they doing any good
for his neck? I sure hope so..

I agree that Challenger is very
appropriate for Truder if we change names.

Lolly said...

Sorry, I like the names BUT Truder is Truder and always will be.

Jack's neck is no better with the meds. I am worried. He will return to the doctor after our trip but I am worried about that. He is the driver and the trailer tow--er. LOL He is a tow-er not a tower. ☺

Laurel is home! Yea! Praise the Lord for a safe trip.

Mema Jo said...

I hope Jack is able to enjoy the trip
I know you both love the beach......

Gosh, whirling thoughts -- it's another "We are the World." The starvation in Africa/Somalia/Horn Region of Africa is back where it was in the early 90's, So sad and appalling is the fact that it's not even the headline - it's on the fourth page!!! USA Today had a puny piece on it today, and Brian Williams did a great job with the story tonight. I wish I could post the link. OMG!

JUDYE you are the link goddess, or can someone find the link. I feel like a turd that I was complaining today and truly there are starving people in Africa.

I love you all more than you will ever know. You have literally carried me through this with your support, kind words of wisdom, advice, prayers and just letting me post!
Big Lily, Faith and Hope hugs (I love that!).

hedgie said...

Lori, is this it? Not Brian Williams, but it is the facts.

Lolly, sure hope your tow-er improves a lot before you head out. Laurel will do a busy turn-around to get laundry done and re-pack!!

I guess Hoda has dragon boat this eveing, doesn't she? Wouldn't it be lovely to be on the water?

Still 98° here....whew!

Right, Judie...Challenger has several fitting connotations to the nest situation.

Thanks Lynn - I can't enter in link code, but here's the copy and paste to the Brian Williams story tonight.

It's a slow night on here - where is everyone?

Lynn, thanks for the info on Zofran being a 3 day course. Thank heavens we have you on the medical squad here!

Linda said...

Oh, LORI, Bless your heart for all you've been through this week. I know you're feeling our love, but my heart just breaks for you and the emotions that you're experiencing. One minute you think things are going great and the next, all you know what breaks loose.

Will she be okay, if they send her home while still experiencing so much nausea? Do they give her a shot that works right away or does she take something by mouth?

It's so amazing to think she could go home so soon after such MAJOR surgery. It's scary!

Like I said, I keep checking in to see what is going on with you and your Mom praying continually! You're so often on my mind, in my heart and in my prayers throughout my days!!

We do have a strong bond here. If one is suffering, we all suffer!! We're right here with you, Dear One!!

Praying that this night is truly a turning point with restful and healing sleep for your Mom. May God awaken her in the morning with a renewed sense of energy and no nausea!!

Bless You, Lori ♥♥♥

Hoping KAY is having a rip roaring time strolling down memory lane with her guests.

HODA, the Eastern US is so envious of you being in cool BC and on the water!

LOLLY, are you having to drive everywhere with Jack being looped? I sure hope it's helping his neck.

LYNN, loved your idea of having a vacation home and not having to pack to go there! Brilliant!

Linda said...

It really is wonderful to be new as I am, and yet feel so much a part of such a wonderful group.

I can't wait for a get together!!

I saw where Lynne mentioned Steve wanted a get together in the fall because he likes the group, too. If at all possible, even if it is more of a local event, I'd love to try and make the trip!!

I want to meet the people I care so much about face to face!!

stronghunter said...

Good evening,

I like Challenger for a name, too. But it is a very long word when we are typing in a hurry, so we would need a nickname. Chal? Chall? Chally? I vote for Chal.

Made a lemon meringue pie for dinner. It had been a very long time since I've done that. I love lemon meringue pie on a hot summer day.

I got Hunter to help me beat the meringue, thinking he would be impressed with what happens to that little bit of egg white. He kept talking about soapsuds.

I was a bit worried that it might just sit uneaten. Shouldn't have been concerned. It is already more than half gone.

Lori O. said...

Thank you so much LINDA. That is so nice. I am so grateful for your good thoughts and prayers.

They won't let her go home if she is still feeling barfy - sick of all the med terms! LOL.

The Zofran they've been giving her goes in a line and it's working within 30 min., but it only lasts 4 - 5 hours.

She was definitely so much better when I left tonight and had had a bit of chicken noodle soup, some fruit and a few bites of sherbet. I was very proud of her telling the nurse to just come in and give her the Zofran at 10 or 11, not to wake her up and ask if she needs it, just give it to her! Go MOM!

LYNN, with Zofran being narcotic, would Fenergan (sp) be a better choice?

How is your garden LINDA?

Mema Jo said...

Nothing interesting on TV to speak of so
I may as well get the carryall out and
fill it - therefore I will be ready for
tomorrow noon and I won't need to get up
super early and pack!

Lori O. said...

LINDA, we would come and pick you up if we had something and you tried NOT to be here!

SHIRLEY, I love your idea of pie for dinner...yummy and Lemon Meringue! I'll grab a piece in the cafeteria tomorrow in your honor! LM & Coconut Cream are my favorites...and peach pie... and cheese cake...

Linda said...

LORI - You are welcome!! I've just been so worried about you and unfortunately had a horribly busy week!

The garden is doing great so far.....I don't do the work, Dennis does. We are going to have a ton of grapes, rasberries, strawberries, blueberries and some other kind of berry that is golden.

Corn is about 3.5' tall already and we're starting to see tassles on some! Tomatoes are looking good, too, but not ready for another month. Lots of potatoes and squash out there, too.

My flowers aren't doing so well this year, though. Those darn japanese beetles even got to my clematis and trumpet vine. I thought they only liked the grapes!!

Linda said...

I've been either out of town or working more than I would have liked to so far this summer, so I am behind on weeding!

LYNN - The bunnies are GONE!! I think they're under the pine trees with Mom! We've seen a few hopping around the yard just before dark. Dennis thinks Mom Bunny moved them. I stayed away because I didn't want to scare them off of bring any attention to them. We went and checked last night and they weren't there anymore. She even filled up the hole where the babies had been. Her hair and the leaves were still there, though. Amazing!!

Linda said...

Awe...thanks Lori! That's so sweet. I know there are some who wouldn't be able to make the distance, but I figure I may only be about 5-6 hours away. It would be worth the trip, for sure!!

Lori O. said...

JO, what is the name of your cat in the avatar. He/she gives me an ear to ear smile every time I see it. Way too cute!

stronghunter said...

Lolly, I have not kept up with everything too well the past few days, but has Jack tried one of those soft neck brace things? I had a terrible time with my neck once, and my doctor told me to get one, put it on, and go back to work.

I was afraid to drive because I could not turn my head. The thing worked wonders in more ways than one. I had no trouble driving.

One of my ninth grade classes liked to play around. When they came to class and saw me wearing that thing, one of the girls said,"Hey, guys, we have to be good today. Mrs. Phillips can't be looking around to see what we are up to." Loved it!

Please excuse me if Jack already is wearing one. Would be kind of hot right now, but that is what air conditioning is for.

Linda said...

JO - I love your cat, too!! Looks like he/she is very skiddish and not at all comfortable in its own skin!! LOL

My cat does the same thing. She will take off and then just stop in the middle of the floor and flop on her side. She will also just lay there and roll over on her back instead of getting out of the way when you walk by! Too funny!

stronghunter said...

Oh Lori, I am so happy to learn that your mother is doing well tonight. I usually have some of the same kind of problem when I have had anesthesia. I can't handle Jello. Sweet stuff does not sit well in my stomach at such a time.

Mema Jo said...

Linda - Marvin is a lovey dovey cat
I have 2 cats but he is the only one
that is a lap cat when he wants to be.
His fur is thick and takes him quite
a while to clean himself. Then he'll lie
on his back and start to roll from one
side to the other. He is lots of laughs..

stronghunter said...

I love Jo's kitty, too

George used to lie on the kitchen floor, asleep on his back with all four paws up. We would walk around him. He has stopped doing that.

Mema Jo said...

Lori - he is my Marvelous Marvin
He was a feral on the side porch until
hubby coaxed him into the kitchen.

The other one is Scar and he also was
a feral cat. He will not allow anyone
to pick him up but he sure is a rub-ber head banger up against your legs.

They get along well except when Scar
just wants to be alone......

Shirley, I am LOL at the soapsuds remark! It's true!

I love Lemon meringue pie too!

Lori, you sound better already!

Judie said...

Okay, you all can stop with the lemon meringue pie, chocolate cake, cheesecake etc. Have gained 55 lbs in the past 5 minutes.

Lori, sure hope you have taken at least some time tonight for yourself. Your Mom is sounding better. Asserting herself. Continued prayers for all.

Jo, the First 48 is on and I haven't seen any of these before. Stop packing and watch!

As promised, I have hidden away from the sandperson all addresses and contact information for momsters. HOWEVER, Sandperson is quite clever and may find a way to to sprinkle sleeping dust into your eyes.

The night light is on for anyone who needs to arise in the dark or who may enter late from the West Coast. Restful sleep for all.

And Lori, glad to hear your Mom ate something!

Back again, finally. Watered all the flowers, got ONE pic of hummer boy's red neck, but still in cam. He sits in the tree and watches me & won't come to feeder. I waited him out---knew he had to be thirsty.

Surprised to hear Nancy may go home so soon!!Way to go!!
My check up w/endocrinologist went well. He said all blood work was fine, but I have to take those toenail pills a little longer. Look out liver, here they come. But I put my teal polish on them this afternoon!!!! TEE HEE & will wear flip flops!Showed the bottle to Dr. & he said I should touch up a car!
BTW, found another yellow vehicle I love. Frankie, J's' Dodge Ram RumbleBee w/ his G'daughter on Halloween '05!

Oh, Linda....whenever we get together, all are welcome....just too far for some to travel too often!! Not sure where Iris lives in relation to you, but she makes it down, and Diann did once before her pain got too bad...so I'm sure you can do it, too!!! And PA is close enough that it's not a real burden. So we can't wait to meet you!

Linda said...

JO - Well Marvin looks to be quite the character. Glad he has the personality to match his handsome looks!! You never know when you get a cat if he's going to be a lovey dovey or not. Some love to be in your lap all the time and others are as independent as they come.

Ours is adorable, loves to be where we are, but isn't much for being held. Her first few months she was constantly on my desk while I worked. Now she has her own chair!!

She adores our border collie so much more than either of us!!

Her name is Gigi!!

Hoda said...

Well I am back, I did go out to Dragon Boats this evening and it was windy...white caps on the water and not enough paddlers. We had fifteen people but we needed the full compliment of 22 to take her out safely in the conditions. We watched the white caps and the geese and the ducks trying to make their way through and then they would take to wing and start all over again. We wanted to go out today because we have a "ciy chap" coming in on Saturday to give us a workshop. We shared stories and dried the boat after we bailed her...and stood on the beach just marvelling at it all...we were all wearing jackets and wonder if this is the end of our summer...I hope not!!!

LORI, you are one strong woman and it is a wonderful experience to read your posts because you are so genuine and you say it as you see it. Do not be discouraged and do not put your experience in the light of something else more severe. Both are legitimate and both are a sharing of the human condition. Karma is unfolding in both situations and there are strengths in all of our stories...I am touched for example that with all that is going on in your life and with the upset of your regular routines and away from home and your pets, you have empathy and love and you are touched by the story of what is happening in Somalia. The best we all could do is send them prayers.

JO Is it a long weekend in the US this weekend? Are you simply going to take extra time at the beach house and make a long weekend of it?

Linda said...

Awe....thanks, LYNN!! Iris is about 2 hours south of me. I could pick her up on my way!! LOL!

I can't wait to meet you, too! I hope it will be sooner rather than later!

hedgie said...

Wow, Shirley---you're lucky your meringue stood up in this humidity!

LORI----zofran is NOT a narcotic. It's a Selective 5-HT3 serotonin receptor antagonist.
Phenergan does not work as well as Zofran, but is sometimes given in conjunction with it. It tends to dry up secretions, tho', which can lead to dry mouth and throat which might make her cough more, and make it a bit more difficult to eat.

Linda said...

LOLLY - Are you leaving tomorrow? We'll keep Jack in our prayers. Maybe some R&R will do his neck some good!

Linda said...

What in the works is a "a Selective 5-HT3 serotonin receptor antagonist?" LOL

Linda said...

I meant to say What in the world is a a Selective 5-HT3 serotonin receptor antagonist?? That is some big talk, LYNN!!

LYNN I find you very smart with your knowledge and very generous with sharing it. Thank you.

I have been thinking about food and where it comes from and the prices of food since JUDYE posted the prices of three peppers at her store today...a lot of our food comes from the US and it is more expensive here than it is in the US, yet it is possible to not have a high food bill by watching what I buy.

Lori O. said...

Is this just not the greatest group of people I could have happened on to when Hidey was just two days old? YES! Absolutely the greatest!

Glad I'll have my handy dandy IPad with me tomorrow if someone tries to tell me Zofran is a narcotic. Damn (sorry) LYNN you should have been a doctor. You are so smart with all this.

HODA Goddess if peace and wisdom, I love your advice and posts. You point out so many things that I can over look. You have a very grounding presence. I hope to be so zen someday. Working on it.

PAULA, our natural born leader, thanks a million. You were there every moment today with great advice. I did it, too! Nice dinner alone and getting ready for bed now. Bonus biscuit for Nick!

A big hug for Marvelous Marvin the cutest cat in Maryland! Good thing he was never a foster kitten of mine JO - I couldn't give that one up! LINDA, Gigi would probably appreciate some catnip. I'll have to start growing it again.

LYNN, could you please give Leisl a bonus green bean from me tonight? :)

Funny, JUDIE, but my eyes are feeling like they have sand in them now. Hmmmm.

KAY, we missed you tonight.

I'm going to say "May God Bless you enough." It's what people use to bid farewell with, meaning may God give you blessings enough to cover your needs.

Good night all! See you in the morning.

Lolly said...

Just came in.

Okay, everyone....let's all head to Linda's. I think there is plenty of fresh food in the garden for all of us.

We do not head to the beach until Monday. Laurel has a lot to do until then. She will come here with the boys Sunday and we will get up and leave early. It is about a 7 hour drive. We will return on Saturday. Do not like being there on the weekend as it is so crowded. My brother, Larry and his wife, Sandy will also be there the whole week. His middle son, Brett, and his family will also be there and we get to see them Monday night. Larry and Sandy will be in their trailer, but Brett and family will be at a motel. He has two children, Shelbie 12 and Talon, 18 months. We are excited to see them.
