KAY - so glad you got to see both of them! I was wondering where you were.

magpie said...

That was really something when color arrived...I was really hoping they would stay around for the color, and THEY DID !
I know JudyE would have video-ing, I only got a few still pics.
Yes, wish everyone could have been here to see Belle ♥
I can barely blog when live feed is on, and when I do then I miss some of the action waiting for comment to post

She went one way out at the 4, and yeah, he did look like a lost kid, eventually leaving out at the 9:30 - figure they are out fishing now !

Kay will be back to comment on your posts in a minute

Kay
Yes on the Finnish nests...
Finney2 stops action at 2200 and starts back up again, Lynn posted it but I forget which time
one unhatched egg there yet
Finney1 has Nest News (there is an "In English" button on the high upper right hand side) which would post when the 3rd and 4th chick hatch
and Finland or Fin-Ferry, isn't giving a peek into what's going on underneath, and I am not sure when those eggs are due to hatch but she acts like something is going on, often...

DanaMo said...

Man I wish I would have seen them! :( Just signing in now to the Cafe.

magpie said...

Goshawk has no signal this morning but at last check Wednesday they were plotzed in the nest
Chick #1 nearly as big as Mom, and baby is quite a bit smaller but coming along

magpie said...

This is Judy's Saturday, sure she has Jordyn plans...
and DanaMo, well, I hope she and others might have gotten a peak at the Eagles when they were here

Lori O. said...

Hi DANA MO!

It was so beautiful to see Belle, and 2 eagles in the nest again!

There's always Tomorrow, DanaMo,
and maybe later on today, like at dusk, though last night, NO SHOW at all
interesting to me, what drives them to come into the nest when they do these days...they sure don't bring their food in to eat

DanaMo said...

I know it is interesting to watch and wonder what brings them to the nest.

DanaMo said...

Maybe tomorrow I will get up early and head over. Did I read that some people are gathering on the 18th? So many posts it's hard to keep track of what I read and what I imagine LOL!

magpie said...

Starting on June 12 hereabouts, there are several days with two and one with three flyovers of ISS -
I wrote to the feedback section about ISS-Endeavour (their spelling of it) being listed together, they responded:

"We simply haven't updated the database yet. Thank you very much for the
reminder."

It hasn't been updated, yet...

magpie said...

I told them we were pretty animated about watching for the flyovers ☺

magpie said...

Last evening I had posted about seeing what I thought was a little white moth flying near the nest.
After seeing that white feather sailing around after Belle left this morning, I am wondering...
that little white moth might have been a feather shaken loose from an Eagle up above the nest.
Just wondering, could have been I guess

magpie said...

There is a birding event at NCTC that day, DanaMo
Potomac Audubon Society hosting it

have not seen anyone grab onto that yet,
it does require pre-registration since this is a Federal facility...
I am working, but might put in for the day off....
sure it would be a nice outing...
and we could gather as Momsters there....
I can post more info a little later on
Hedgie had posted about it,
Hedgie with no internet today that is :(

Don't know about those neck things Margy, lots of people wear them. I don't like stuff like that around my neck, and it would really mess up my tan line:) Usually I just stick my head under the hose throughout the day. Lots of stuff blooming, fevefew, sweet william, rudbeckia starting, and this will probably be my last week of peonies, gotta count how many I have in the fridge.

Temperatures across the region will be over 90 degrees between 11 and noon this morning, before peaking in the mid to upper 90's later this afternoon. With humidity still high, heat index values will be between 100 and 105 degrees at the height of the heat. Sunny skies will be in place to start out the day, but we will see partly cloudy skies for the evening and the night tonight.

As lows only into the lower 70's, a chance of scattered thunderstorms will come through tonight associated with a passing cold front sweeping through this unstable, hot and humid air mass.

Good Morning MEGAN.

May reach triple digits today here in NE - so sure getting a piece of the discomfort! I heard on the news yesterday that this may be the new 'norm' in 30 years - can you imagine? Great news for those who love the heat.
Does Truder still have the black feathers? Seems FOREVER since I've seen him and sweet Belle -

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
So very glad you all got to see BELLE, after the long absence of our cam...good to know that she is still around!

I haven't heard much about sightings of lightning bugs from all of you...I have NOT seen any:(
AND, haven't seen a stink bug for days!:) Don't know what's going one in the buggy world~

Costume Lady said...

Irene, can you imagine that your father and mine may have known each other?

Kay said...

Sorry I baled on y'all without notice, but had another freeze up. Went to "My Computer" and found nothing out of order. Decided to degragment---two days ago was "told" no need, but my request was taken this time. Hoping defragmenting did the trick.

MARGY, I went to I-E-8 finally when I had to in order to upgrade Yahoo Mail to the latest version.

LORI, will shoot you an e-mail in a few minutes !

Sorry our birds haven't appeared again, but selfishly glad I didn't miss anything. Somewhere yesterday I read that building or restoring a nest is a bonding activity for a new pair. Guess that's why Belle and Truder continue to stay close, visit the nest, etc..

Lori O. said...

DARN! I knew the two eaglets were sitting on the swinging perch in the flight pen at WCV - but even enlarged the pic to full frame I couldn't really see them, just light colored feet and beaks.
I just checked again and those feet and beaks are gone and one of the eaglets is on the ground pecking around. Can't wait to see all three of them in better light on the perch.

Kay said...

LORI, I find it difficult to spot those WCV kids when they perch on the swinging perch, too. Do hope the lighting will change as the day goes on.

Lori O. said...

FUZZLE/Irene - Can't imagine this heat as the norm. UGH! Shhh. Don't tell MEGAN.

WANDA - lots of lightening bugs at my house...or should I say I've seen dozens? SB's have been very few. Afraid to get excited for fear that August is their peak and they're just waiting to come out.

MEGAN - any new Stink Bug information on the SB Battle?

KAY - glad you made it back on.
IE-8 will likely be a good thing for you. You just don't want to download any of those programs first thing when they come out - wait until they get the "bugs" out.

Lori O. said...

One eaglet back on the perch and one wingercizing from side to side on the bathing bucket! Very cute.

Kay said...

That one on the bathing bucket hopped down, took a long look at that thing that looks like a a little easel and then flew toward the nest and out of sight. Very cute indeed !

LORI, I've resisted going to IE-8 for a long time---Yahoo has been touting it for ages. Hugh aka my guru said it was fine to upgrade to it. Doing so allowed me to get the Yahoo upgrade and all is well with that. Not having any trouble other than first thing in the morning with our blog. I go to another couple of Google Blogs with no difficulty ????

FuzzleMT said...

Wanda: wouldn't that be a hoot! I don't remember my dad having a hat like your dad though. Dad only had the white sailor cap - good for both dress and blues. I remember that his crew had just received orders to ship out and the war ended and, of course, many were discharged.

Kay said...

I'm going to go to LM now. Want to call a couple of nurseries about the spruce. Temps here today to be about 10 degrees lower than yesterday---every little bit helps ! HAGD everyone ! BBL

Good morning!!

Yay, I have no classes today. None. I do have a couple of students who want to take the exam early, but that is it.

Not that I do not have plenty to do. Just asked my supervisor if she would like a box of old folders and notebooks to give to students who may need them. I always keep those things and sometimes hand them out to kids.

She is happy to take them.

A couple of research papers left to grade.

Exams to finalize and make copies of.

Set of test papers to run through the Scantron.

So glad I get to stay indoors today. I just hope it is reasonable on Saturday when we have graduation.

Got a little frustrated with a colleague yesterday. I found some boxes outside of a classroom that were clearly marked "trash."

Really nice boxes that yearbooks had come in. I could only carry two, but thought I might go back for one or two more--there were probably four left. When I walked by the colleague, she said, "Boxes!!! Where did you get those?

Reluctantly, I told her, commenting that I would like one or two more for myself. By the time I set down my load and turned around, she was coming down the hall with a bunch of boxes.

I said, "Did you get them all?" And she responded, "Yes, I took them all." Geesh, it is survival of the fittest around here.

I think I am fine, though. I just realized I have several of those big plastic tubs in my room, (but I'd better make sure they aren't already full of stuff.)

I'M BACK!!! Don't ask me how/why. Phone tech couldn't do anything last night...this morning all is well on desktop....but laptop isn't...go figure. Still suspect a problem with the modem.....wireless apparently is what's not working now....argh!
Have some catching up to do...and running back and forth between puters to see if anything I'm doing to laptop is fixing the problem.
Still have to read papers, too, and EAT!

Costume Lady said...

DANA WV...I will drink plenty of water and GG, too. She will sit and watch me:) You do the same if you stay outside for very long!

Costume Lady said...

Irene, my dad was staioned in the Great Lakes, Norfolk and Florida. Among other things, he drove a PT boat.

Good morning, everyone.

LYNN'S BACK! This is good.

Did have more restful sleep last night. Kept the ceiling fan on low. Takes hours to cool the house from 80+º

Shirley, sorry about the box thief. Not nice. Glad you have a relatively quiet and easy day. How's George? How's Luna? How's Flash? Need critter updates.

Still need to check the critter cams. Then headed out to purchase grosseries.

Wishing everyone a good morning. Please try to stay hydrated and cool.

Tbird, have fun looking at the big plane! Cool!

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley I am hoping that colleague of yours didn't hear you say "I want one or two more". I worry if she did and took them all. Then how does she treat her students. If she would treat a colleague like that????

wvgal_dana said...

Thelma please if you get to see it. Come back on and tell us through your eyes. What a sight it was???

stronghunter said...

Box thief . . . maybe there was a misunderstanding on her part or mine, but if not, I would not have done that to someone else. However, it is not worth stressing over. I have plenty of other things to think about.

I think she is kind to her students. It gets to be dog-eat-dog over boxes in the last few days. I have plenty of ways to get boxes. My basement is full of boxes from the liquor store where Will works.

Just talked to my student I wrote about last night. I have to let her know that she really has no chance of passing, but I will be happy to let her take the exam as practice for the next time around. Sometimes I think kids like her just need to be around a kind adult.

We discussed her plans for summer school. I noticed several burns on her arm and sent her to the nurse. She said that she got them from the fryer at work.

The nurse put salve and bandages on the burns and told her to keep them covered. I told her that she needs to make sure that her employer keeps her safe by teaching her how to use the fryer or providing protection.

hedgie said...

Okay, through emails and looked at West End---how bout our Lori and ?FloBear? featured there??!!! Cool beans, as JudyE says!

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynn Do you mean you look at the West End cam??? and found Lori and FloBear????????

stronghunter said...

Remember the kid whose parents I was going to call about the research paper? He would not pass unless he turned in a final draft. Someone thought I was going beyond the call of duty.

Well, he is not my friend. At least not now. He brought in two typed pages, said that he had not saved the rest on the disk and that he wasn't gonna type it over. I figured what he did was worth five points out of a hundred, and that it meets the requirement that a research paper exists, but is not good enough for a passing grade. He gets a 45% on his research paper. I think I am being generous, but he disagrees. Tough.

He told his classmates that he was finished with school until I called. He had no intention of coming in to take his final test. His comment is that he has a C, so that is good enough. A zero test grade will do real harm to that C, and I still need to post a couple of other grades.

Maybe one day he will appreciate my actions, but not right now!! I am not holding my breath and waiting for a "thank you"!

I can assure I did not call his father because I wanted to be graced with the kid's presence on the last day of school.

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley I don't think those kids will ever get the kind of teacher you are. I commend you on how you care for your students. Like the girl with the burns. I do think her Mother is controlling. I feel for that girl. Although she is in the situation she put herself into. Sad at that age. I pray she works for good to come her way. Now the boy...he is a "stinker" all he had to do was finish. You are actually kind to make that phone call. You really CARE about your students. Even other students when you have been a sub. Boy teachers like you a few at High School Level.

Jim sent an email to some people stating:Jim never signed into blog yesterday he was a
lito ttle under the weather and tired. His email sent to some said:
Yesterday, I went to the optometrist to see (no pun intended) why my vision had recently deteriorated, especially in bright light.
After quite a few tests, the Doc told me she could see well advanced cataracts on both eyes, right one the worse. So it looks like a date with an
Ophthalmologist and then surgery will be in my near future."

I wrote back and told him "to keep us posted. So when he goes to
have surgery we can pray for him".
