Be careful going to the theatre, Shirley. It's in SE.... :( Christie was at SE Community Hosp. Weds. Most of staff was black or Asian, but she said it was the cleanest lab she has ever seen, and the personnel were very nice and polite. Of course it probably helped that her mentor for that trip was black! I had told her to get Security to escort her to her car, but she said parking lot was directly across the street, and Arnel was parked there, too. he did snap me a pic of Nationals Stadium, too!
I am sure in a disjointed mood.....working in the basement, cleaning sunroom windows, cleaning refrig, put new filters in mower and got it started with ease.....just can't settle down to ONE job at a time! Guess I don't want to get bored!! Both of my girlios are at work (Chris is pulling a per diem shift at her old hospital! Go figure!), and Bill is hunting....so no phone calls this afternoon/evening.
Even with these temps there are some bundled up visitors on the OC boardwalk. Maddie said on FB she was seeing some snow flurries. I can see at OC that some of the Christmas lights are up and ready to go for the season.
We took pictures of Nationals Stadium when we went on our cruise. And we saw places we would not want to be after dark when we were there. In Anacostia and thereabouts.
We have been to the Folger once before. This is an afternoon showing, thank goodness. When we went before, it was night and we had to catch a cab at the end of the performance. We had a few scary moments, as it was very late and not many cabs were available. We also realized that we could have driven there and found a parking place easily.
Hunter was fascinated with the activities of a large rat when we were waiting for the cruise to leave. I am sure that it was a well-fed rat living in the shadow of the baseball stadium.
Kathryn's dogs were used to having food out all of the time so that they could eat whenever. That has changed. We have to mix their dry food with a little wet food (or a little cat food) to encourage them to eat immediately, so we can supervise George. George has tried several times to intimidate them into abandoning their food dishes.
And, Flash is a messy eater. He scatters food everywhere, so there has to be a clean-up of sloppy, slimy dog food when they finish.
On the ADHD--Hunter had a terrible time in kindergarten. Kathryn felt that the teacher was not understanding of rambunctious boys.
In first grade, he had a wonderful teacher who helped repair some of the damage. She did say that she thought Hunter would perform better academically if he were not rolling around on the floor when he was supposed to be working. And she was right. He improved dramatically as soon as he started the medication.
The theatre is within sight of the Capitol building, right across from the Supreme Court. I hope we won't have any incidents there. Not too near the Anacostia area, but it was still unnerving late at night when we were looking for a cab.
Shirley, Dustin also, has ADHD...not so hyper anymore, but has difficulty with his attention span. Karla has tried him on different meds throughout the years, but the side affects were too worrisome for hime to continue taking them. He last took meds about 3 years ago...he begged his Mom to not make him take them, he didn't like the way they made him feel:( He has missed out on a lot of learning because of this, but, he has become very "Street Smart".
I think it's Donna's birthday at the Bear Center. She and Lynn were just showing a bunch of balloons. Must not be too cold out there today---no heavy coats.
Just came in from the garden, it is so sad to see frozen veggies:( If we could have had just one more week of warm weather, a ton of peppers would be in my freezer. Didn't have time to pick them...too busy with the shop. I was able to salvage some at the very bottom of the plants, where they were more protected. They will be frozen and later this Winter, go into Chili and "inside out stuffed peppers".
Many errands today. Tired now. Fed the squirrels. Leftovers will take care of the night critters to include deer and fox.
Darth was in NJ 3 weeks ago for his family's church anniversary celebration. This weekend he is attending his H.S. class 55th reunion.
Uh oh, Lynn's in a bad mood! Well, good things come to those who wait -- especially those who are adopting wrinkly rescue critters.
So please there are some who can commiserate with D.C. street navigation. One wrong turn -- six cops later.
Lolly, hope Joseph will start to feel better. If Laurel and all are coming to your place it will likely be a nice respite for her.
Lolly, he sees an eagle. Future dadster.
Sorry Megan is down with sinus infection. I'm sure she is exhausted. Please feel better soon.
Lynn, you never got lost in D.C. because you are me NOT! I got lost again today in Alexandria. My brain can be so stuuuuuupid!
Jo, that was really thoughtful of the Ellsworths to send a note. Thank you for sharing.
Lynne, think about Lynn's advice. Hope the Husky get back home. Would love to have one of those.
Ah Shirley, when mom's away, Flash will play (in your recliner).
Very sorry about the "gruesome" accident. Glad Margy didn't have to take that call.
Wish I could have gotten to Shirley before she left. In the Folger area, there are a gazillion cops -- believe me I know. All they need do is pull up and ask for help. Real sweethearts.
Feel better Diann and Dana.
Going for a couple of aspirin. Sorry about the book. Trying to catch up.
OH, blood test came in the mail today (I had them mail them to me) and all is perfect! Only a very teeney tiny elevation of 1 point in Glucose, and my LDLs are a tiny bit high, HDLs good. Better than I expected!
Judie, honestly I WASN'T dissing you for getting lost!! I, too, would be scared if I got lost in any inner city! I got turned around in the wrong direction outside Baltimore one time, and even tho' I knew where I needed to be, I couldn't get there until I went through the stupid harbor tunnel! I ended up in a bad neighborhood, and my trip home ended up taking almost an hour longer because the "detour" put me right into rush hour!
Yepper, Lynn, not much sun here today either. 44° going down to 31° tonight. Have the fireplace going. Feels so good! Wood is less expensive than fuel oil!
Thank you,Lynn. I have been getting Error 503 trying to get on here for about an hour!! Do shortcut Icons expire????? Her link works---maybe because it comes from WV!!!! While web searching for a way to get in, I did find link for Live Cam. In a few minutes, 6:03PM to start, saw both eagles and got some pics I just put in yahoo album! This was a better sighting that I had at Park!!!This AM, I saw a tall brown blob in the eagle nest, stopped the car, took camera, but couldn't see it well in cam due to foliage. Then it flew way back---magnificent size!!1st nest sight I've seen since spring. But yesterday, one of our naturalists saw an eagle perched on osprey platform out her office window!!!!!!Things are looking up!
Well since I was on facebook for once playing around. I missed the eagles.
Wanda I think in a comment about someone I was thinking of Dustin on our trip to the Dam. Oh well I could get a toad and a frog mixed up probably.....NO I COULDN'T!! But I did when you was talking about the boys Wanda.
Heading to get feet up with MORE SOUP.....soup soup soup and making sure I eat yogurt because of antibiotic.
LOL, Dana.....if you want to know what you're REALLY supposed to do with the yogurt, email me!
Loretta....so habby that you are getting sightings at the park! Won't be long before you'll be able to get somme pics! Glad I got you in here! I don't think links expire.
Hi all! Kids are outside playing, Laurel is on the computer finishing a book order for her students, dinner is cooking and I am on the computer.
Wahoo! TCU, number 3 ranked team, just told Utah, number 5 ranked team, who is who. We beat them soundly, 47 to 7. It is such fun to be such a great team. Think we may go to the game next Saturday. Wahooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shirley, did not know that Hunter was on ADHD meds. Let me tell you a story. I had a little girl that could not do anything. I urged testing. Her Grandma was volunteering in my classroom and she was totally against it. Ashley was tested and put on meds. Grandma was in my classroom the first day Ashley was on meds. She was the first finished with her work and it was perfect. Grandma was so HAPPY. Ashley continuted to do well. Ashley is now a parent and I am friends with Ashley and her Grandma.
All 4 of the people in the wreck are deceased. Lone survivor died at whatever hospital she was airlifted to. She was the mother of a gal who just started dating one of Shannon's best men from their wedding and worked with Shannon's cousin . The lady's husband sang in our church choir. Other two were teen girls whose Jeep went airborne and landed on top of the car and disintegrated. Tragic all the way around.
Snuggled in my recliner digesting the fine dinner from the Melting Pot.
Yes, the play is tomorrow afternoon. Last time we went, people told us that we wouldn't find a parking place and that we should park at Union Station and take a cab, so we did.
This time, we're going to drive there and meet Susan at the theatre. The play is at 2:00 PM. We will take the GPS. I hope we don't have to ask any policemen for help, but it is nice to know that we can.
Hunter just got his report card and received all A's. The trip to the Melting Pot was his reward. He got to pick the restaurant. I hope he continues to get such good grades.
Will is going to watch Hunter while we go to the play tomorrow. Hunter asked him to bring West, his roommate's Jack Russell. I think we will need to shut George in my bedroom. Otherwise, there might be some dog blood shed.
Here is the latest from Germany - Christine Thompson WOO HOO! I had my three finals this week.I finished my paper earlier today and have turned in all assignments. Now to just wait and see what my grades are.I now have my Bachelor's in Psychology! Now for another chapter in the book, going on to get my Masters! Only 32 days left here!!! Can't wait to spend the holiday's with family and friends!............... She says what she means and means what she says! Gotta love her...♥♥
Hooray for Christine!!! Know how proud you are, Grandma!
Judie, sure wish we had a pizza delivery service here. We are a bit too far out. Have to drive 5 miles to meet drivers.....kind of defeats the purpose!
Shirley, congrats to Will. Why doesn't he keep Hunter at the bachelor pad?
Yes, I am very proud of her - Being an Army wife and raising 2 beautiful gals - she really has her hands full but she does it all so well. Can't wait to see them.
I had asked him to take a look at the computer network system here. I am having a problem with my work computer and the network connection. I hope he will have time to fix it.
Well....just got an email from the rescue. Puppy must be spayed before leaving, and they don't d pediatric spays until 9 weeks.....that would be Dec. 9th...and they are saying release date end of Dec./early Jan. ???? Vets release them home the same day as surgery. Not sure what I am missing here. But I am crying:( That is SO far off.......
Lynn - Maybe this is a sign to start looking again..? Have you thought of seeing the pups in person to make sure it is worth the wait or did you already do that?
Good evening everyone. Missed the eagles today. Like Lynne, I had my volume down because I'm in living room and the guys had tv on. Didn't want to disturb them. ;-)
Jo,congrats to your daughter. Ours got her bachelor's in May and is now working on her masters. Don't know how they do it with taking care of kids. I know you're very anxious for them to be back to the USA. Thanks to them that serve our country worldwide.
Lynn, you're like an expectant mother. Hope the "labor" doesn't take too long. ((hugs))
Lynne, I'm realy sorry to hear about Steve's job. It will be a difficult time for you two but love will get you through. Jim lost his job in'82 when Armstrong closed his plant and with 4 kids it was hard for a while. But we made it! I know times were different but with help from your family & friends, you guys will make it too. If we can help in anyway let me know.
Big prayers for all those with job worries. We have a son without a job living here now.
Judie - I tracked down Fayetteville State University. On line or classroom is available in Psychology or Criminal Justice How about that. I thought that would be interesting for you to know. She once had thought about that.. She chose Social Work and narrows in on Child abuse.....
Judie, hope those legs don't cause too much trouble - again. Do like Jo and put them up.
Dana, you're under the weather? Sorry to hear. You don't need that!
Wanda, loved the video of Jayden. He was so careful with it too. When I see him I think of that song, ..♪♫ I got a brand new pair of roller skates ....♫♪ ♥ ☺☺
Heard of Megan & Russ's (is that right?) and my deepest sympathy to the family. One's never prepared for the loss of a parent.
Just gave my cats their treat and, of course, they think it should be a meal.
Uh oh! My wireless keyboard just warned me I need new batteries, so I'll say goodnight now.
Hi, Diann, Bye, Diann. Sorry I missed you. Was taking my bath. Hope you are feeling better.
Jo, the puppies are down in Chesapeake, VA. That's 2/3rd's of the way to the beach! It's WORTH the wait to get what I really want....but disappointing. Feel like I'll be missing out on so much of the puppyhood fun! Shirley, I assured her that holidays here will be sedate. Shannon has to work, Carolyn has to work----don't know if Charlie will bring the girls or not. It may well end up just being me and Christie.
My brother John (Prairie Dog John) and his wife Judy are coming over from Frostburg in the morning, we meet in Hagerstown and will drive down to visit sister Anne in Annandale for a few hours Sunday. Been busy getting ready for that
caught up on all the posts though, always try to make time for that!
I think I am going to cry too, Lynn. You have been so upbeat and happy since you decided to adopt "Sharpy":( Not fair to make you wait. Don't guess you could sign an affidavit, promising to have puppy spayed by a certain date? Please don't cry anymore♥
I'm starting to think it is an hour earlier already, have a lot to do before bedtime...
the grackles and starlings in this neighborhood are nightly putting a totally unbelieveable soaring display it amazes me they don't knock into each other
Thank you, dear ones. I'll be okay. Was just so hopeful that it owuld be in a bout 4 weeks. Have heard that my vet spays at 6 wks., so not sure why theirs doesn't. It is what it is......better late than never.
Margy, hope that your trip to A'dale with John and SIL will be a big boost to Anne's spirits. Rainbows??? Good omen! Did it rain in town yesterday afternoon? Not on north end, or out this way.
I need to make a beeline to the shower and start putting things back together here a little bit... sorry I missed congregating here during the day and evening with you
Great evening Eagle Pictures, Loretta !
will check in and say Good Night later on, but for now:
Lynn, so sorry about the long wait. However, if she is what you want, I know the wait will be worth it. Maybe the policy is to make sure there are absolutely no complications -- good for the new owner and good for not having law suits. I wish the adoption could be a much faster process. I know you are disappointed.
Jo, so nice of you to check out schools for Christine. I'll keep them in mind when my wannabe adults ask about grad programs.
Have reset the clocks and despite what their faces say, I am tired tonight.
Turning my light off but will leave the night light on for others coming in or headed down the hallway or up the down stair case.
Wishes for feeling better for Megan, Dana, Diann, and others not feeling well. Sleep restfully everyone.
Hi all! Oh what an afternoon and evening. Has been a while since we had such fun. When Laurel first got here Joseph was really feeling bad. We think the medicine had upset his tummy. Will see if it happens again tomorrow. Then he got to feeling great. He ate those ribs and everything else served him. He also played outside for quite a while.
Watched TCU play and once again they won. It was so exciting as they are ranked number 3 and they stomped number 5 team. Think we are going to try to get tickets for next Saturday.
Um, have to do a Margy. Some misunderstanding, I think. As I was unlocking my car yesterday I saw a fox chasing a squirrel across the lawn of the Capitol. No video except in my head.
Margy, have a save drive. Prayers for Anne. I know she will be happy and comforted to see you and her brother and sister-in-law.
Well, gang, will tell you night-night now, too. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep----guess for all of us except Delphia!! Prayers for all our many needs and woes. Love all of you!
almost takes the whole extra hour to reset them, especially the Audubon clock - oh I could remove the battery for an hour, but really wanted to hear great horned owl, mockingbird, chickadee, cardinal, downy woodpecker, Canada goose, house wren, robin, song sparrow, belted kingfisher, tufted titmouse, and finished one midnight before Baltimore Oriole, make that 11:00 pm...all done now ♪♪♪♪
See you folks in the Eastern Standard Time morning light
whoa, didn't mean to be rude....there are other standard time zones on here besides Eastern! Central, Mountain, Pacific and a quite a few others around the planet
Getting here a bit later than I had hoped, but better late than never, I guess. We are watching Sis-in-law's bulldogs tonight through Monday morning. Please say some prayers for a speedy healing for Charlee, who has had a "hot spot incident", and is now on antibiotics and some stuff to clean up the "hot spots." She looks a LOT better today, and is healing well (the anitbiotics must be kicking in), but I always am concerned about the dogs when they are not feeling 100% and I'm watching them.
Lynn, I am so sorry that the rescue group upset you so badly! I sometimes think that those people overdo their caution a bit. I know they need to check for a fenced-in area, and a home reasonably free of electric cords and hazards like that, but for Pete's sake already! ...When Jen got Hubby and me our Molly from the pound, she was not spayed yet, and they just sent a certificate home with her that had to be returned to the pound by the vet within 4 weeks, stating that she had been spayed. We got a discount on her license because she was spayed, too. If those rescue folks can't figure out that you are an ideal dog owner, Heaven help them! ((HUGS)) for you! I know you must be very lonesome, and I hope those folks can speed up the process a bit.
Sorry to hear of the horrible car wreck. Prayers for the families and friends of the victims.
Sorry to hear that Megan is fighting a sinus infection. Certainly hope she is much better, very soon! ((HUGS)) and prayers!
Hi, Margy, Wow, I'm glad that you and a couple other people here have mentioned the time change! Had completely forgotten about it! Hubby and I only get a Sunday paper, and we hadn't watched the news today. Will have to get busy and change a few clocks, etc. here, too!
Thanks to Sis- and Bro-in-law, Hubby and I were able to eat dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen today. Got a gift card for my Birthday! Had an artichoke and spinach white pizza on a thin, honey-wheat crust. All I can say is, YUM!!!!!!
Well, going to go change some clocks and veg in front of the TV for a while. Judie, thanks for leaving the night light on. The porch light is on too. Prayers have been said for everyone. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Sleep all snug and cozy, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
Had to turn on 'puter to get the correct time and saw that I had to explain about the fox video!
It was on the TV news...not sure which channel. Judie may not have had her camera, but someone did. Saw the fox chasing the squirrel and the squirrel out-running him:)
GOOD MORNING... WE HAVE A PAIR OF EAGLES IN OUR NEST! Lib just carried in a beakfull of twiggs and Belle is looking at him as if to say "what do you want me to do with that?".
Belle left the nest, then Lib placed a long stick around the side edge, starting the walls of the playpen. Belle just came back with her beak full of long sticks and they are both placing them in the same area. It is 39° here and going up to a sunny 52°.
Lib took off again, maybe to get some more sticks. I think this may be the beginning of their "moving back into the TREE HOUSE". Hope that cam gets installed pretty soon!
Lib is back, now with more sticks and they are both placing them on the opposite side of the nest....a lot of work needs to be done before egg laying time:)
Lib is gone again. Belle stops working as soon as he leaves. That is what LIB does best:)LOL Belle was working near the trunk of the tree, so it looks as though they are working all around the wall of the nest. A little while ago, they either beaked or Belle pecked Lib:)
Lynn, you asked what Inside Out Stuffed Peppers were...they are just what you thought. I put the sauce in a pot, then the peppers (cut up into wide strips), and then the stuffing is layered on top; cooked til peppers are tender. I also do cabbage rolls in the same manner. Very good but not quite as good as the real thing!
I tried to post another message last night, but the network had dumped my computer and I just went to bed.
Things are hopping around here this morning. We have lost the Indian picture Hunter is supposed to use to make his doll for school. Thank goodnes, he has another week to do it. Kathryn has bought the materials already, so we should be okay if Hunter can get another picture from his teacher.
Flash is cavorting around the house . I think I should get serious about the fencing. Hunter could run around the yard with the dogs without having to worry about them running away.
I missed the nestorations this morning. Haven't had an eagle fix for awhile.
Paula, so sorry you got woken up early...I thought we'd have the same problem here but for some HALLELUJAH reason, ours sleep a full hour past what they would regularly sleep!
Shirley, fence sounds like a good idea. We have 1/2 acre fenced area for the dogs so we can take them out and let them run and roam off leash. But we have to walk them out there. It would be nice, especially on cold mornings to be able to just open the door to a fenced yard and let them go! I think the dogs AND Hunter would enjoy being able to romp around in a fenced area!
We still walk them on leash several times a day too. I think dogs eventually get bored like people do...only they can't read or watch TV or whatever. Getting out and seeing new sights and smelling new things does a world of good for them. We don't have a "neighborhood" but we have a huge property here, and 3 local places with trails that are just a very short drive away.
I haven't told you all yet, but Gene and I bought our CHRISTMAS PRESENT to each other last week. It is one of those Trail Cams that we got to place somewhere in our woods to see what comes around, especially at night, when we can't see. Gene hasn't put it up yet, but he may have time today. I'm so excited to get it going. A new toy for Wanda and Gene:)
Kathryn says her boss and his wife have a trail cam and they think they have a cougar--some kind of huge cat. Too big for a house cat or bobcat, Kathryn says. They live in the Hartwood area of Stafford County, a rural area.
Good morning! I was rude and did not tell you good night. I was so tired!
Wanda, glad you explained the video thing. Also, you did a fantastic job describing this mornings nest visit. Sounds like serious building going on at the nest. Well, Merry Christmas! Your trail cam sounds exciting. We need one for our pond. No telling what visits there, but nothing exciting like deer or bear or cougars. Maybe raccoons and possibly a coyote. Have seen a fox in the neighborhood.
Shirley, I am impressed with your note taking. LOL I remember the name, but certainly have not taken notes. Probably should! It would help remembering names, which I am so poor at doing.
Oh, Paula, we know where the armadillos are. They have holes all over the yard! I know of three holes. They go deep. It is just finding them out of the holes at night that is the problem. I have flooded holes, filled them in, nothing does any good. Grrrr! However, in the winter months they do not dig in the yard. Do not know why.
Thanksgiving dinner after church today with church family. Need to get into the kitchen and prepare my sweet potatoes. Had someone sign me up for them while we were gone. They will not let me in the door without my sweet potatoes. LOL
So great to hear that our birds are busy working again!!
Wanda, thanks for the explanation aboout the fox video....will have to try to find it online!! And yep, your peppers sound fine inside out! It all tastes the same regardless of the presentation. Pssst----I don't like cabbage rolls!
Oh, that is so cool about the trail cam! Is it a wireless thing of some kind??? Can't wait to see what you capture----like Jo's kids have!!
Andy, know what your kin goes through with Charlee. Christie and Shannon's Harley, a weineraner, has a chronic skin condition that flares up periodically, requiring all kinds of special meds.
Hey Lynn!!! I dreamed of your new puppy last night! Maybe you'll hear something tomorrow!! The dream wasn't about the pupppy specifically but the pup and you were there!
Going to take the dogs out for a run in the field, and then head over to Soldier's Delight with Steve and friend Dave to explore.
Lolly do you make a special kind of sweet potato? They are my FAVORITE!! I like them baked, mashed, candied, whatever!
oh poor Luna! Puddles thinks the vacuum is her arch enemy and barks and growls and runs from it a dozen times when it's on! Have fun today and safe trip!
Good Morning To EVERYONE don't want to miss anybody.
Margy I know you have already left. Prayers for safe journey and to fine Anne improved. I am sure she is going to enjoy seeing you all.
SHIRLEY if you decide on an electric fence. DO NOT GET FROM PET SMART. Get it from WalMart. The batteries run our faster from PetSmart and are more expensive. Know a person that has PetSmart and also one that has WalMart. Nieces I never get to see. Don't go with PetSMart one.
Lynn when Rascida brought from Breeder. Pure Breed Bull Mistiff. She did where you take the dog to the dr. she had set up to neutered or spay. You had to bring dog and papers back and show Breeder. She didn't want her line bred or ruined. Pictures had to be taken a different times of dogs life and sent to her. Moving address had to be given to her and the chip number also had to be given to Breeder. She did have a problem and stopped letting them go before spay and neutered because she would have to track down people that didn't do it. Some where out of state. She could take the dog back at any time without refunding monies if you tried to make it mean, didn't properly take care of it, or didn't get proper shots.
Prayers for Russ, Megan and family.
Thinking about that terrible traffic accident. 4 lives WOW!!!
You just never know...here on minute and gone the next.
Jo know you are proud of Christine. She is taking the smart road.
Speaking of vacuum cleaner....was using mine for the sofa yesterday (still don't have my floor attachment back form repair shop yet) and it really smells like dog. Bag practically new. So my usual trick is to take a piece of toilet paper and saturate it with my fav perfume and suck it in! Nice!!
I need to vacuum clean once I feel better. I am feeling better but don't want to go out nor over do and start this all up again. Hasn't fully left yet. I get tired easily. Going now for another nap.
See ya soon..
Lynn I feel so sad for you. I know you want to hold the little one and smell that soft warm puppy smell. Would have been nice if all that information is posted. So you know before you even open up pages to start looking.
By the way I DON'T LIKE THE CHIP I still think that is what gave her dog cancer. None throughout the line has ever had cancer. She said next dog she will tattoo the ear. One day when I had her dog at the vet there was one in there like it. I closed the room door and spoke to man in the hallway. The dog couldn't even get up and walk. Found out from him it was my daughters breeders litter same parents just bred before hers. I ask him if I could bring her dog out. Yes he said I did and Raschida's dog went right over like they were talking with each other. His dog then tried so hard to get up. Did once or twice but just couldn't go on. I cried that day as she had to be put down. I think my daughters dog knew it. He felt so sad the rest of the day.
no link Oh I'm sorry she had chip in too Maybe some breds can't handle the chip and it provokes something to happen inside their bodies. Then things progress from there. Don't know just know daughter will never chip again!!!! Will tattoo.
I have never officially been an aunt-----only through marriage. My only sibling did not have children. Now my eldest is getting ready to be a GREAT aunt AGAIN, also by marriage! Her niece is on her way into surgery for a c-section. They have let this small young lady lay for 48 hrs. Unreal!
I don't recommend the electronic fence AT ALL. It might keep your dog contained, but it lets ALL other animals come in and that can have disastrous results. It also doesn't protect your dog from theft at all.
Love that cam, Paula. The color is fantastic and I enjoyed watching those birds. What a riot!
Lynne, yes, I have a delicious recipe for sweet potato souffle. The topping is what makes it...a crunchie topping loaded with pecans. Would be glad to send the recipe.
Hi Everybody! Paula, I LUV those cockatoos. Been culling out My Fave sites and opened Hummingbird---it mentioned Phoebe & there was NO nest.I thought that was the one Jim had mentioned just having 2 eggs recently!?? I sure konked out last night. Have I said I don't do early mornings???LOL No Redskins this week, but Fubby has someone else on & I wonder about Nascar. Don't hear any roaring engines--hooray! So sorry to read about the auto accident. Hope Shirley & family enjoy Folgers--cool, but lovely day. Will continue working on 'puter--I seem to add as many sites as I delete!! Then I have to check on what we'll have for dindin. Want to hear a gaggy story? Many years ago when we visited relatives who had moved South, DIL had her dinners for the WHOLE month written on calendar!!!!Arrgghh
Maybe I'm not allowed to have more than one unstream open at a time, Paula. Have the pond cam up and it is ustream.
Loretta---race is getting ready to start now.
Phoebe's two eggs disappeared earlier this week----no idea what happened to them. We were saying that it sure seemed safe from predators due to all the thorns---and then poof! they were gone. Phoebe was in and out of the nest constantly, so maybe there was something bothering her.
That is what Ed's friend that I sent cam has is a cockatoo. He is on oxygen. Said they found a nodule on his thyroid. Will have to biospy it. So I will let you all know when he tell me the outcome. He said if he needs surgery it will all depend on his lungs.
They think maybe Phoebe destroyed the nest herself. She was seen early in the morning kicking the eggs out of the nest and trashing the nest. Not sure if they got broke and she trashed the nest or what. This came from the landowner.
LOL, Paula, I figured that it was yours you were referring to!!! Maybe we should all go down under for the winter! Frank and Irene and i have said that if the house goes through, we will head there if another blizzard is forecast for here!!
Thanks, pals, for the Phoebe update. What I read on their current comments was that they were waiting to see her build a new nest. BTW, sent some of you & E_M a wonderful hummingbird email. Lady I've known since high school, became a biology teacher (and married ours!-lucky duck) sent it to me. She also is p/t naturalist at Park. Enjoy BTW, guess we have to start watching nest an hour earlier this PM!!!

I had told her to get Security to escort her to her car, but she said parking lot was directly across the street, and Arnel was parked there, too. he did snap me a pic of Nationals Stadium, too!
Dog food caused George to be hospitalized once. He chewed his way into a bag of dog food and munched away once when I was not home.
George does not even eat regular cat food. He has a prescription.
Mattie posted on FB that it's snowing in Bluefield. Told her to keep it down there!
See I made the split!
Make that SHE snapped me a pic!
Thanks for the advice, Lynn.
I also scrubbed sofa upholstery...Cinnamon drooled a lot when she slept! Silly girl!
Sure glad that George survived that, Shirley. He was very lucky.
LOL, a wharf/stadium rat---sure he didn't lack for anything!
Yep, Anacostia is the worst! Glad you'll be out of town before dark!
Pets do require work.
I am ready to head out shortly for Mass
You 2 take care..........
BBILW
On the ADHD--Hunter had a terrible time in kindergarten. Kathryn felt that the teacher was not understanding of rambunctious boys.
In first grade, he had a wonderful teacher who helped repair some of the damage. She did say that she thought Hunter would perform better academically if he were not rolling around on the floor when he was supposed to be working. And she was right. He improved dramatically as soon as he started the medication.
Sounds as if you are accomplishing a lot, Lynn.
Quick---check it out:
Bear Pond cam
Shucks...too late. Lynn and Donna were on the cam, and a bear was there, too!!
It's the scene from the Visitor's Center, and the three resident bears in the compound visit...they say through Oct. Hey, bear, it's Nov.!!!
Bear is back in view!
Saw the bear, Lynn. I am having some difficulty with the mouse. George is butting my hand because he wants petting.
BBL.
Bye, Jo! Enjoy Mass.
Shirley, Bassetts are like Shar Pei---jowly! And slobs, for sure!
I can see the 1st grade teachers' point! So glad the med has helped. How are his grades?
I think it's Donna's birthday at the Bear Center. She and Lynn were just showing a bunch of balloons. Must not be too cold out there today---no heavy coats.
Just came in from the garden, it is so sad to see frozen veggies:(
If we could have had just one more week of warm weather, a ton of peppers would be in my freezer. Didn't have time to pick them...too busy with the shop.
I was able to salvage some at the very bottom of the plants, where they were more protected. They will be frozen and later this Winter, go into Chili and "inside out stuffed peppers".
What is inside-out stuffed mean, Wanda? Just filling piled on top of cut ones?
Ribs are warming in the oven----smelling good!!
Anyone else unable to bring up the live feed? Error 503 over there too
Just got back from taking the dogs out for the last walk of DST :(
Hope Shirley and CO. have a fun, safe time tonight!
Lynn, I'd be a basket case by now...too much waiting!!! Hope you hear SOMETHING soon about the house and pup!
Time to fix dinner....
Nevermind, live feed is up on outdoor channel, but fws is down
My live feed is up Paula...
OH, blood test came in the mail today (I had them mail them to me) and all is perfect! Only a very teeney tiny elevation of 1 point in Glucose, and my LDLs are a tiny bit high, HDLs good. Better than I expected!
My oldest son was ADD, no hyperactivity. Ritalin really helped him, took it during school days only. He finally got off of it after Middle School.
EAGLES!!!!
Belle is picking at nestovers and Lib is trying to hack up a furball....er pellet :)
There went Lib
Guess it's his night to pick the roosting spot...and there she went
Anyone else see them?
UGH I missed....forgot to turn sound up while I was fixing supper.
I think the play at the Folger is tomorrow afternoon.
Wonder why it is that ADHD, ADD and autism affect more boys than girls? Bill's grandson is autistic.
Down to 43° here already. Hardly had any sun today.
Yepper, Lynn, not much sun here today either. 44° going down to 31° tonight. Have the fireplace going. Feels so good! Wood is less expensive than fuel oil!
Missed the eagles, I see....kitchen duty called!
Heading for sofa to let dinner settle. BBL.
Heading out shortly for dinner with a friend...might stay and listen to the band, too.
Heading to get feet up with MORE SOUP.....soup soup soup and
making sure I eat yogurt because of antibiotic.
LOL, Dana.....if you want to know what you're REALLY supposed to do with the yogurt, email me!
Loretta....so habby that you are getting sightings at the park! Won't be long before you'll be able to get somme pics! Glad I got you in here! I don't think links expire.
Enjoy your evening, Paula.
Oh, Wanda, bet the fire is delicious! I'll be moving wood under cover in the next few days....and waiting for SIL to bring me more!
I have returned from Mass
I ate warmed up left over chili and corn bread. Delicious.
Shirley, you and your girls should enjoy the play. Has Will been doing ok?
Lynn, Judie is right that good things come to those that wait! I sure hope one or the other comes soon for you.
Great outcome, Lolly. Kudos!
Thanks, Jo.....I'm w-a-i-t-i-n-g........
So sad to hear of the tragic car crash, Lynn. Prayers for all of the families.
Lynn, did not take teasing as "dissing." Was within four blocks of where I needed to be the entire time. Grrrrr!
Very sorry about the accident victims. So sad for family, friends, and coworkers.
Went out and got a pizza for myself. Yummy.
Live feed sometimes and sometimes not. No eagles. MT nest when I have been lucky.
Going to let the pizza settle. BBL
Will is doing fine. He just got a promotion at work.
Tell Will Congratulations, Shirley.
Here is the latest from Germany -
Christine Thompson
WOO HOO!
Gotta love her...♥♥
Heart breaking news about the accident victims. Prayers to all their families
Congratulations to Christine! I am sure you are eager for her to get back here, Jo.
I'll tell Will, Jo. Thanks.
Yes, I am very proud of her - Being an Army wife and raising 2 beautiful gals - she really has her hands full but she does it all so well. Can't wait to see them.
Don't know why Will decided to come here. His choice, Lynn.
Don't know why Will decided to come here. His choice, Lynn.
Perhaps Will just wanted to come home for a visit.
I had asked him to take a look at the computer network system here. I am having a problem with my work computer and the network connection. I hope he will have time to fix it.
Lynne, very happy about the blood results. Hope mine will be as good.
Shirley, congratulations to Will on his promotion and for being so nice to take care of Hunter.
Jo, get out that calendar and start marking off the days. Congratulations to Christine. Any idea where she will be working on her Master's?
Okay, back to put my feet up. Did too much walking today. Legs are feeling it and letting me know.
The network connection is horribly slow!
Having a problem double posting because it takes so long to post anything.
Lynne, told you the results must be good!!
Rest those legs, Judie. Take care of yourself.
Sorry about the long wait, Lynn.
I don't understand why they wait so long.
I am about to head on upstairs. The dryer has quit running, so I can safely leave it.
Do they not want to release dogs at Christmas time, perhaps?
On line or classroom is available in Psychology or
Criminal Justice How about that.
I thought that would be interesting for you to know. She once had thought about that.. She chose Social Work and narrows in on Child abuse.....
Lynn
HUGS HUGS HUGS
This is not the way I prayed for you day to end......
Oh Lynn, so sorry to hear about the wait.
Shirley, enjoy the play tomorrow.
Prayers for all needs/wants. God bless.
Also assured her that the grands are nearly grown!!
Any chance you could have him/her neutered/spayed?
They won't let them leave without surgery first, Jo.
Sounds like Bear Center folks and Lily fans made Donna Roger's birthday VERY special.
BTW---the pond cam IS infrared. And NO BORIS!
My hugs (( ♥ )) are here for you, also, Lynn...so sorry for the disappointing news, wish they had told you that much sooner than today
Hello Evening Eagle Pals
xo
My brother John (Prairie Dog John) and his wife Judy are coming over from Frostburg in the morning, we meet in Hagerstown and will drive down to visit sister Anne in Annandale for a few hours Sunday.
Been busy getting ready for that
caught up on all the posts though,
always try to make time for that!
I got lost in Anacostia one time too, was truly scared, it was dark
and I was alone
great news about Christine, Jo, and thanks also for sharing the message from the Ellsworths
I think you have a fun outing ahead of you Sunday, Shirley...
but I forget what play you are going to see....
loved the Jayden video, Wanda...lots and lots of fun !
forgot to mention, I saw a double and almost a triple rainbow Friday afternoon when I left the office
I think I am going to cry too, Lynn. You have been so upbeat and happy since you decided to adopt "Sharpy":(
Not fair to make you wait. Don't guess you could sign an affidavit, promising to have puppy spayed by a certain date?
Please don't cry anymore♥
I'm starting to think it is an hour earlier already, have a lot to do before bedtime...
the grackles and starlings in this neighborhood are nightly putting a totally unbelieveable soaring display
it amazes me they don't knock into each other
the children stories on here are always so enjoyable to read about
I think James would possibly benefit from some ADD medicine, and it amazes me how quickly the relief kicks in
but, I think diet is part of his problem also...too many nitrates, nitrites, and sugars
Did anyone else see the video of JUDIE'S fox chasing the squirrel? It was a beautiful fox!
Feel badly for so many ills and sorrows in our group. Love and Prayers for everyone of you♥
GOOD NIGHT
Thank you, dear ones. I'll be okay. Was just so hopeful that it owuld be in a bout 4 weeks. Have heard that my vet spays at 6 wks., so not sure why theirs doesn't. It is what it is......better late than never.
Margy, hope that your trip to A'dale with John and SIL will be a big boost to Anne's spirits.
Rainbows??? Good omen! Did it rain in town yesterday afternoon? Not on north end, or out this way.
Good Night Wanda....
sorry I got on so late and missed schmoozing with you on here
thinking of Russ and Megan during these difficult days of loss and also illness
it was a cold brisk sprinkle, Hedgie, had to make sure it wasn't snow flurries !
it wasn't
No, Wanda....where is the video?????
Need to throw out a heap of prayers too for all our needs here, as Wanda so sweetly expressed it....
We worry, love, laugh, educate, and heal together on here, for sure
I need to make a beeline to the shower and start putting things back together here a little bit...
sorry I missed congregating here during the day and evening with you
Great evening Eagle Pictures, Loretta !
will check in and say Good Night later on, but for now:
God Bless Us, Every One
xo ♥
Wanda - where was I suppose to see Judie's video of the fox and the squirrel on government property....?
Great report, Lolly
Grandma Loving is the best medicine
ttfn xoxo
Lynn, keep on trying to convince them that the pup is coming to a wonderful, calm home at Christmas and is much needed for love.
Margy, have a wonderful time seeing Anne tomorrow. You will be good for her, I am sure!!!
Goodnight all.
Well, gang, will tell you night-night now, too. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep----guess for all of us except Delphia!! Prayers for all our many needs and woes. Love all of you!
P.S. Thanks, Judie. I thought I had misunderstood, but it was Wanda!!!
Well it sounds like grandma's love did a good job today and I bet a good job will be done tomorrow with Siblings'
love for Anne.
Going to accept my hour with sleep. Once upon a time I stayed up for the hour... Not any more. My eyes are too heavy.
Good Night All
Prayers for all needs/wants
Hugs for all ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
almost as many clocks as calendars around here
almost takes the whole extra hour to reset them, especially the Audubon clock - oh I could remove the battery for an hour, but really wanted to hear great horned owl, mockingbird, chickadee, cardinal, downy woodpecker, Canada goose, house wren, robin, song sparrow, belted kingfisher, tufted titmouse, and finished one midnight before Baltimore Oriole, make that 11:00 pm...all done now ♪♪♪♪
See you folks in the Eastern Standard Time morning light
Thanks for the love & friendship
xo ♥
whoa, didn't mean to be rude....there are other standard time zones on here besides Eastern!
Central, Mountain, Pacific and a quite a few others around the planet
sorry about that
☺
Hi, Everyone,
Getting here a bit later than I had hoped, but better late than never, I guess.
Hi, Margy,
Wow, I'm glad that you and a couple other people here have mentioned the time change!
That is what LIB does best:)LOL
Belle was working near the trunk of the tree, so it looks as though they are working all around the wall of the nest.
A little while ago, they either beaked or Belle pecked Lib:)
Belle has taken off and the nest is now empty.
Keep looking, I think they will be back off and on today:)
Morning all. Nice view of an eagle in our nest a while ago. Hope everyone has a great day.
Morning, all!
Missed all the stick placing! Dogs were up early...can't they tell time, LOL
Good morning,
I tried to post another message last night, but the network had dumped my computer and I just went to bed.
Wanda, your stuffed peppers and cabbage rolls sound like the real thing to me.
Good morning all!
Glad Wanda got to see some more serious Nestorating going on this morning!
Cold and very breezy here but sunny. So much frost on the grass this morning that it looked like snow!
Good Morning Eagle Pals...
sure sounds like a lot of fun at the Nest this morning
Shirley: Hearty Congratulations to Hunter on that Stellar Report Card! Bravo!
Glad to see that Andrea could make a visit....amidst all the studying and puppy care....hope Charlee will be okay soon, Andy
hopping on out of here shortly,
Best wishes for a very good day, precious pals....
xo ♥
Have a safe and enjoyable trip, Margy. Hope that you find Anne, much improved:)
Hi Margy! Have fun today and I sure hope Anne is much improving!! Safe travels!
Wanda that AWESOME!! Can't wait to see what the cam picks up!
How interesting, Wanda!
Kathryn says her boss and his wife have a trail cam and they think they have a cougar--some kind of huge cat. Too big for a house cat or bobcat, Kathryn says. They live in the Hartwood area of Stafford County, a rural area.
Oh, by the way . . .
I just looked at my notebook. Iwannafly first appeared the blog in August of 2009. I have a pretty complete notebook from the time I first logged on.
Margy, please have a good trip to visit Anne. I hope you find her much improved.
Lolly, maybe you could get a cam set up to find that elusive armadillo!
Margy, Hope Anne is doing better!
Wanda, sounds like fun!
OK, gonna get my butt moving and go mow the front yard....and take care of some other outside chores.
Good morning! Breezy and a bit chilly, but guess that's typical for Nov. Hope everyone has a nice day---or as T-bird says, make a nice day!
Shirley, I am impressed with your note taking. LOL I remember the name, but certainly have not taken notes. Probably should! It would help remembering names, which I am so poor at doing.
Good Morning - I've been through my emails and FB and I really did get my hour of extra sleep.
Headed for daughter's home for lunch
in a few..
BBL
Oh, Paula, we know where the armadillos are. They have holes all over the yard! I know of three holes. They go deep. It is just finding them out of the holes at night that is the problem. I have flooded holes, filled them in, nothing does any good. Grrrr! However, in the winter months they do not dig in the yard. Do not know why.
Thanksgiving dinner after church today with church family. Need to get into the kitchen and prepare my sweet potatoes. Had someone sign me up for them while we were gone. They will not let me in the door without my sweet potatoes. LOL
Have a great day!
MY MAN, Tom Selleck, is on the cover of Parade today!!!!
Surely do hope that the new nest cam mounting/assemblage does NOT require the use of tape around the tree limb. Looks SO tacky.
First of all, I hope the new nest cam is up soon.
But I do hope it does not require tape. However, we can see Boris when he/she climbs up over it.
Vacuumed another amazing collection of animal hair out of the carpet downstairs this morning. I do not know how they have any hair left.
Also lots of animal whiskers.
Poor Luna is terrified of the vacuum.
Have fun with your dogs, Lynne.
Found it! It was on Ch. 7.
Fox and squirrel
oh poor Luna! Puddles thinks the vacuum is her arch enemy and barks and growls and runs from it a dozen times when it's on! Have fun today and safe trip!
Lynne, I have a new sweet potato recipe....haven't tried it yet. It's Sweet Pot. SALAD! Sounds yummy! Want the recipe???
BBL
OOOOOOOOOOOO yes Lynn!!!! Sounds yummy!!!
Judie hope your legs feel better today.
Carolyn has a new great-nephew.
Name is Kayden. Not a big boy at all----6#5oz.
Cute fox. Thanks, Lynn.
My dogs give me dirty looks when I am running the vacuum cleaner :)
jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
GOOD SUNDAY TO YOU
aLL.
jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
It's cooled down in So Cal, and we "might" be getting some rain in the next couple of days.
Have a happy.
C(°?°)3 Jim
Very cool cam
Aussie backyard cam
Love that cam, Paula. The color is fantastic and I enjoyed watching those birds. What a riot!
Lynne, yes, I have a delicious recipe for sweet potato souffle. The topping is what makes it...a crunchie topping loaded with pecans. Would be glad to send the recipe.
Ticks me off----commercial played but cam won't open, Paula!
It's on ustream, Lynn
Awake again
Thanks Paula for the Australia cam ....love it. Sending it
to a friend that has brids something like that.
NOT A LINK:Sorry for the misunderstanding!!!! I would never recommend electric fench. I thought that was what Shirley was going to get. For my dog not to bark I don't use the collar that shocks same order as electric fence. The one I use sprays. At first he might bark a good bit but the cirtus scent which I turn the thing so it sprays to side. Now he doesn't bark. Think he knows when I put it on. I agree with Lynn anything can get in the yard. So your dog is unprotected with electric fence.
I don't remember whether Shirley said anything about electric fence or not---just a fence.
Can you imagine having all those cockatoos in your backyard?
Almost have everything put away...cushions, birdbath etc.
Maybe that IS the unstream secret. Closed the bear pond cam and was able to open Aussie w/out any problem---and no ads!!!! Cockatoos are lovely!
The birdbath had a large floating ice cover on it this morning!
Wonder what they are feeding that attracts them so?! GOod bit of argument going on!!
They just all took off, lol.
Love the ones eating out of the wheelbarrow, lol
Sure is nice to see spring!
And someone saw a wallaby out in the field beyond the fence
Homeowner has a lovely garden :)
They sure have chowed down, the bowls were full this morning...
Oh and I was talking about my birdbath, not the one on the cam!
LOL, Paula, I figured that it was yours you were referring to!!! Maybe we should all go down under for the winter! Frank and Irene and i have said that if the house goes through, we will head there if another blizzard is forecast for here!!
Phoebe might be going through some kind of pre-partum depression. Poor thing is probably so confused.
Split time again!
Enjoy
BTW, guess we have to start watching nest an hour earlier this PM!!!
