Thursday

New thread.

I have been racing back and forth to DC the past few days. I had the honor to be in the audience on Tuesday at the Main Interior Building when the President spoke for the 160th Anniversary of the Department of the Interior. Had to go back down yesterday to DC as well...

Mits said...

thanks, Steve...good for you:)

I feel a panda nap coming on. BBL.

floralgirl said...

Cool Steve- thanks for the new thread. Of course we all know Steve is a VIP...

hedgie said...

No, Wanda, don't think so.....the longer they let her lay the more risk for complications....argh!!!!

magpie said...

Ditto that thought, Megan

Thanks Steve..for taking the time out of your very busy scheduled to check in, and for the new thread.
Nice honor for you, to meet the president.

magpie said...

Okay, tough news about the delay for Jo, but you know how she would want us to be: Of Strong Faith !
And full of continuing prayers.

Good News for Sharon, that would make Jo very happy....we will have to ESP it to her for now I guess..

xo

magpie said...

And we can trust that that computer whiz Aaron will try to set her up with some cam-viewing if she stays in the hospital...
☺ Of course our computer whizzes are bound to record all the important things OUR NEST...

Wonder if Jo likes to text on cell phones ? ☺

Mits said...

lol....Margy, Jo hates the cell phone, was with her one time she kept handing it to me to call or answer:)

OMG! OMG! OMG! Have I had a wonderful morning!

First off we found the eagles nest! There were two juvies sitting high in the nest. In fact, I think one might have been on a branch very close to the nest.
Saw some wing stretches. Then adult flew in with possible a mammal, several "things" were hanging down.???? After eating one juvie felt so good that he started jumping and stretching those wings. He was going about two feet up. Everybody there observing cheered him on. (I was bouncing up and down too!) Then second adult flew in. This one wanted to each lunch, too! After a while one flew away and landed in another tree. After another period it took off flying, almost right over us. I got pictures, but where was Deb's and Paula's camera when I needed it? I will post pictures, but will have to wait til I get home to zoom and crop.

Anyway, it was a very exciting morning. This short trip has been successful. I am happy!!!

Just had lunch, heading out again. This time to the Canyon of Eagles.

Saw the news on Jo. God bless and keep her.

deb said...

Lolly, how exciting!! What a thrill to see the juvies doing there wingercises.

I was hoping to find that Jo was out of surgery and in recovery. I wonder why they made her wait this time.

Sharon, glad you are off the Hoover and meds.

deb said...

I wish there was an edit button, their not there in my last post.

Mits said...

Lolly, you saw the eagles that is great
No we are here to salivate:)

Costume Lady said...

LOLLY, I'm so happy for you. You have found what you and Jack took this trip for...FUN AND HAPPINESS!

Mits said...

think they are extremely busy probably with falls and accident due to the recent bad weather...that is just my guess....maybe some surgeons are on vacation or seminars....as long as she is comfortable and stable it is going to be ok.

Mits said...

with a trauma to her body, right now all she needs is rest and quiet. And then the surgeons put her back together.

Costume Lady said...

Doctors are probably all on vacation, playing golf in Myrtle Beach. My Mom needed meds and her doctor is out of town. I needed my Evista and my doctor is out of town!

Mits said...

they sometimes have these conventions to go to....:) You know Jo as long as her Ed and family are around, she is fine.

Mits said...

I called Suzanne and told her of the delay, and that I would not be calling her tonight, will just send her an email so she can get it in the mail first thing tomorrow

Mits said...

chicks alone at BWE...lokks like they are pecking each other

Mits said...

adult back looks like food has been brought in

Mits said...

eagle BWO, maybe brought the food and left

Lolly said...

Jack and I are fighting over the computer again. Guess we are going to need another. LOL

In the distance we could see this building. Had to ask what it was. So, for some interesting reading go to this

http://www.falkensteincastle.com/

We drove up to the gate, but could not get close.

deb said...

Once again the weatherman has let us down. 63 today, yah, right. It is 39 now, fog set in and that is keeping the sun from warming it up. Ice and snow is melting again, so we get fog.

Lolly said...

It is 84 here. Wish we could hit a happy medium.

deb said...

That is some building, Lolly. It says it is the Number 3 Wedding Castle in the US. $6,000 for the deluxe wedding, Included photographer, site set up, etc. and the help of a planner.

BOTH, our nest, never mind, one in, one out.

deb said...

Me, too. Lolly, I wanted to open up the house today :(

deb said...

No sooner did I type that, go and get a drink and, fog, what fog. The sun is shining.

hedgie said...

Lolly, you and Jack went at just the right time!! Hope the rest of your day is as successful!!

Lolly said...

Add three more pic to misc. pictures.

I am pleased with what I got with my little digital camera.

We are off! BBL

wvgal_dana said...

Great news about Sharon off the vac and off the meds that made her sick......continual healing for her.

grrr Jo has to wait till 7:30 this evening. Well believe me if Jenny is there. If things could move faster she would get it moving. Epidural good for Jo I was worrying about anesthesia.

Lolly tell them at the castle that you and Jack want to see the place. Thinking of getting re-married. Look online for reservations.
Lolly so glad you easily found the eagles nest. So exciting you got to see the whole eagle family...yeah!!!

Tee hee loved Mits poem about the eagles and Lolly lol cute.

Lolly said...

Yes, Lynn, we are very near your daughter. You should come to visit. BYE!

Stoopid Blogger erased me twice..

Congrats to Steve on meeting w/the High Rollers!

Had to read back & find out about poor Jo. Thoughts & prayers for her.
Good news,Sharon!!! No Hoover!!Now will it do your floors?? LOL
Glad Paula's doggie is getting better. I went to Dr. today--told him I've heard "aquarium bubbles" in one ear. Altho there's no pain, he said red & bulgie eardrum, fluid behind it & I got antibiotic & antihistamine. I actually saw him for aching hip!!!!
Enjoying new pics from Lolly & Lynn & everyone else. Friend of mine suggested making a calendar of nature pictures--that might be an idea for E_M fund raiser.

NatureNut said...

I'm gonna send daughter the TX castle link. Sounds German--many European descendants in Central TX.

wvgal_dana said...

Loretta what did the dr say about your hip?

NatureNut said...

Dr. is sending me for Xray. It only hurts when I walk a longer than usual distance--like sightseeing! I want to see how/what to keep it inline as might go to Greece in May w/daughter. She has a business trip there (maybe) & I can just get my own ticket & we can meet up before we cross the Pond & fly together.

deb said...

The Sandhill Cranes are arriving in Nebraska, along with the Snow Geese. I got this link from the NE Birding Ass. The small lake is just south of I80 at the Kearney exit, maybe 1/4 mile.

NatureNut said...

Deb, beautiful video!

Mits said...

Deb, it reminds me of Blackwater refuge. The sights and sounds.

deb said...

That is just the beginnings of the cranes, next couple of weeks will be miles of them, mostly between Kearney and Grand Island along the Platte River.

deb said...

Yes, they are sure noisy, aren't they! I would like to go down and see them, but it is about a 5 hour drive down there. I wish it were a little closer, so you could drive down and back in one day.

Looks like a gull in BWE nest.

NatureNut said...

Was reading Saline--Friday night toy night--tomorrow (weather pemitting) a special guest appearance!

Mits said...

I saw the white feathers.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Castle very interesting.
Great pics of the eagles!!!!

NatureNut said...

Lynn, thought you had someone in TX too. My daughter is outside Austin.

Mits said...

Deb, I think the rest of the gull made it to the nest at BWE

hedgie said...

Lolly, I think it's Loretta whose daughter lives in TX.!

Oh, hi Loretta! Amazing that the Dr. treated you for the ear when you went for the hip! LOL! I actually have one Dr. who won't even listen to a problem that wasn't mentioned when apptmt. was made! (My orthopedist!) Only allowed one ache/pain at a time!!

hedgie said...

Wow, what a gaggle of geese and flock of cranes, Deb!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

The babies are eating at BWE!!

wvgal_dana said...

Last time our eagle was up. I thought I saw a chick or hole in egg. I keep looking a picture I took. Trying to work with it now.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

OMG!!! I love this HI cam. This is fantastic!!!!

NatureNut said...

Just looked up Lolly's Castle. It's near Burnet & Marble Falls TX! We've been to both & have the marble to prove it! Was fun getting slab in the little roly-poly suitcase to bring home on the plane! I'll have to take a pic of it!

deb said...

Red tails in Tulsa and Portland.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Oh wow, there was another eagle flying by the HI nest. Are there normally other eagles besides this couple there?

NatureNut said...

Lolly said...

Yeah......I know I goofed! Apology! We were out riding around and I thought of it. Meant to say Loretta!

We went to Canyon of the Eagles, but were disappointed. And, we decided not to hike...it is a wee bit warm today. So, we are back here for a lite snack, Jack is having a beer, me a ginless G&T and then back to the eagles nest!

Red said...

REMINDER. Daylight savings time begins Sunday. Don't forget to set your clocks forward an hour.

deb said...

I put up a bunch of egg pictures on my Nest Pictures Page. I included Dana's picture until she gets it posted on her page.

hedgie said...

I think Belle just finished eating and is settling back down now....she kept back to cam, but it looked like she was chowing.

Mits said...

eggs look intact to me right now, but that doesn't mean the hole has not turned where we can't see it. it will happen when it happens.

Mits said...

look intact to me Deb:), but like we know, hatching process takes awhile, so it could have been a pip that you saw.

Mits said...

yes, she had a hearty appetite tonight, and stayed close to the eggs to eat tonight.

wvgal_dana said...

OK will post to blog

hedgie said...

I asked Jim earlier if he was taking the night watch...never got a response...LOL. Guess that's a no.

Mits said...

guess you did, Lynn:)

deb said...

Yes, it could have been a pip or just as easily, a piece of grass. We will know tomorrow! Today would be early at 33 days, first egg last year was at 38 days! Second was 37, third was 36.

Mits said...

yeah that is what Paula, said would be early for this couple, but you just never say never:) as Sharon would say...MTBR

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Thx Dana, for posting picture. There is a lot of shadow on eggs from Belle---hard to tell. I took few pics after 6PM when she was eating & they all looked solid white. Of course, you can only see top of them & they were lined up next to each other.
We will probably be on EGG WATCH anyway as it's near that time!
Gotta get din din & see Idol, but hope if someone hears about Jo, plz post tonight if you can. TNX ☺

Mits said...

yes, Deb, should be about 2 hours, they were trying to do it earlier, and they were wheeling her to the OR, but stopped and brought her back to the room, because the window of time for the OR had closed, I don't know why, but that is what happened...going to eat now...bbl

paula eagleholic said...

Back again...on the phone, had to shut down IE, was all hung up...had the live feed on, but missed the egg roll

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, so the eagles had 2 juvies? Any clue how old they are? Are they jumping up and down and flapping their wings or what? We need more information!

How cool to see them...gonna check your pics.

Lolly said...

No! Where did I miss that? I thought she was having it at 7:30. What happened?

Costume Lady said...

LOLLY, SOMEONE IS TRYING TO INFILTRATE YOUR BLOG! GO ONTO YOU PHOTOS AND DELETE HIS COMMENT WITHOUT CLICKING ON HIS AVATAR! yOU MAY GET A VIRUS!

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, those juvies must be 8-9 weeks old...they are as big as parent.

Costume Lady said...

They said the Window of Time in the OR was not enough. In other words, they were too tired to do it!:(

Lolly said...

Paula, look at my 2:30 post. Yes, two juvies. It was so exciting. I was just thrilled!!

magpie said...

Lolly said...

paula eagleholic said...

Oh how exciting, Lolly. Thanks...

Hadn't made it that far back up the blog yet...reading from newest to oldest.

Costume Lady said...

Costume Lady said...

Maybe I misunderstood Helen's statement.

NatureNut said...

Lolly, I saw that strange Comment w/a website too under one of your eagle pictures. It had 1 comment listed.

So Jo will be rescheduled again?Poor thing. My thoughts and prayers for her and all else who need them.

Lolly said...

It is not fun waiting around like this for surgery! And, what does it mean "window of time"?

Thanks Wanda. Deleted that comment.

magpie said...

I thought the delay Mits was referring to at 7:29 referred to the earlier scheduled 12:30 time...
More to Be Revealed...no doubt.

surgery was scheduled for noon, changed to 7:30, but sometime during the afternoon, they were going to try to operate, something about getting halfway there andturning around, because the length of her surgery (2 hours) eveidently did not jive for this OR. I have no idea why...

Lolly said...

Thanks Paula for the info. I thought of all of you being at the next last June watching the three jump up and flap their wings. That was what I saw today. I was so excited.

The nest is just off a highway. Jack guessed 200 yards, I think closer. They have nicely graveled a long pull off and put up a chain link fence. Several cars were there, some with fancy looking cameras. Lots of visiting and enjoyment going on. It was fun!

It drops off to the river just beyond the nest.

Mits said...

cool Paula, the Mount won and you got to met Kevin and Annie, glad she went, they need the time out together.

hedgie said...

Lolly, love your pics. You need to blow them up and get prints!!!

NatureNut said...

That's what understood it to mean, too, Megan & Margy. Couldn't operate earlier today.

Margy, I work tomorrow, but they have good 'puter. Think it's too early anyway. Belle is a late "birther"!

Good evening to all my eagle buddies. I have been home for about an hour and a half. Yes, I am Hoover free and it is wonderful. I have to do wet-to-dry dressings twice a day until it heals. It was a very interesting trip home. I stopped at my former husband's old homeplace and visited with some of his in-laws, then I found my stepdaughter in Rupert and visited with her a while. Went to the cemetary where Jim (my former husband) and his family are buried.

I can't get our Mema Jo off my mind. I love her so good. She just has to get better really fast! I am going to bed now. Wore slam out! Tomorrow is our hatching day! :)
