My MOM ate beef tongue along with fried brains, pigs feet, and steak tartare (which the later on I love on rye bread) Haven't had that for about 4 years RABBIT BORN WITHOUY EARS
I worked at a cannery one time and folks in the community would come and can their goods. They canned beef tongue and though I did not eat it, it was the leanest meat I have ever seen. Sorry, but Buddy eats buns and all.
Lolly for our party tonight do not forget to put me down for hors d'oeuvres and dry white wine and since we can never have enough dessert I will bring Chocolate Cream Puffs...I can not wait, have we decided what time we start or are we going to wait for Belle and Truder to visit first?
Mema Jo I can not stop watching Glo's video which you posted of Liberty and Belle and their three chicks fledging...very catchy song.
Great Garden News Paula... And Hummingbird news Megan said the Hummingbird Moths are starting to come out out of the ground (I think that was what she said...) and will be attractd to the Flowering Tobacco !
ISS flyover could be very good tonight, will have to compete a little with the nearly full Moon (shortly after 10 pm hereabouts) Punch in your zip code and see where it will be for YOU folks:
For those coming back to the blog this evening, scroll back to JO's post and link at 10:31 this morning, for the video of the Royal NCTC Eagle Family... ♥ Glo's Handiwork...
Thanks again, Jo, and GLO - this is the gift that just keeps on giving !
Lynn - one correction in that it isn't Kevin's wedding - it is James Jr's. I am so thankful she made the lift off - I'm sure she didn't sit by the window but they may see a beautiful sunset when landing. Anxious to hear about the flight upon their arrival...
I am at home resting in my recliner now. Kathryn and Hunter are away at yet another baseball game. It is very pleasant and cool here this evening with a nice breeze. So much better than it was a few days ago. It is a good evening to sit outdoors or to play baseball.
Ok teachers out there I need your opinion on something My daughter boss has a 14 year old that goes to a private school Well they were assigned a couple of books to read over the summer and have to make a report on it. The book is about the war in Iraq Which she doesn't mind knowing that the blood, guts, things being blown off is in the book but her dilemma is that almost ever other word is a cruse word the F bomb, GD, SOB, that she objects to. So Vera went to the office and got no where was told that is the book that was chosen and that is the book she has to read. She then started asking them if this was a movie what would the rating be? Of course they said R Then Vera said if it was a movie would you let my daughter in and of course they said no Well she didn't get any where any advise or suggests will be appreciated
The tomato plants I bought this year were a little larger than I have done in years past...and already had a couple of maters on them...this kind that is ripening is called Early Girl.
Hoda, here is my account of the day that Spunky fledged, June 14, 2006. I was shaking so bad when this was going on but what a memory it is.
From a post by Sharon at 6:41 this am:
6:41 a.m. He is at the launching pad. Been moving his wings a little bit, trying to get up the courage. Just back over to 9 o'clock and did a little poop shoot and then back to the launching pad. Lightened that load a little bit! Oh my God, he just spread his wings out, he has the look. Nope, folded them back in! Doing a lot of flapping all over the nest. Back at the launching pad, looking around. Just moved a little closer to the edge. He wants to really bad! He is so close to the edge, his head gets out of camera range sometimes. He keeps spreading his wings out like he is going to and then back in. It is 6:50 now. A little head bopping going on. Camera freezing up a little bit. Wings back out. Now back in but head still bobbing. My heart is racing. Head keeps going out of view. 6:56 a.m. Wings back out. 6:58 a.m. SPUNKY HAS FLEDGED!!!
The school board event was very nice. They called us all up on stage and gave a little summary of each person's career, etc. We each got a gift--a wooden school bell with an inscription and a card signed by the superintendent and the board members. There were 18 retirees in the county this year.
Hope you all don't mind a repeat: And just a little reminder Tuesday June 14 in National Flag Day in the USA: Flag Day, 14 June, marks the anniversary of the adoption by Congress in 1777 of the Stars and Stripes as emblem of the nation. Celebrations of the flag began in local communities throughout the country during the nineteenth century, largely for the purpose of educating children in history. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson, and later, in 1927, President Calvin Coolidge, suggested that 14 June be observed as Flag Day. It was not until 3 August 1949 (President Harry S Truman) that the National Flag Day Bill became law, giving official recognition to 14 June to celebrate the flag.

I don't know Judy E about the private school and the summer reading list...from my experience there was always a reading list in Casady School in Oklahoma City Oklahoma...It is a College preparatory school. The list had several book, seven for example and we had to choose three out of the seven. If it is a Social Studies reading assignment they might be more limited if they are trying to give an impression of the war in Iraq in particular... Private schools do not want to alienate their clientelle and it seems to me an administrator worth his/her salt would go for the option of the reading list à la Casady School. Probably too late for this summer reading program as it takes a long time to compile books that would meet the criteria that the staff is looking for and which fits the curriculum. In Canada we are only allowed to choose books from a list recommended by the Department of Education. Some have curses and if there is a strong objection we switched to another book from that list...the disadvantage is that sometimes good current books had to wait for the Department of Education to approve them for a certain grade level.
mine are celebrity tomatoes Paula... fun to watch them developing, and the flowering tobacco plants are great fun...fragrance in the evening is wonderful
OH Wow, Crab Dip..make a whole lot of it, Jo
Judy: I agree, a letter to the school board, whatever that equates to in a private schol setting...sounds like an important book, BUT, I bet there are some with less profanity and just as much historical content...
I have to go bake muffins for Pot-Luck Lunch Wednesday, Breakfast at Noon...afraid I won't get to the baking Tuesday evening...have the live feed on...will be watching back later on....

JudyE...maybe the mother should talk to other parents....there's strength in numbers. Sorry to disagree with our with teachers...there is no reason to assign a book of that nature to high schoolers. I'm sure that there are other writings out there about the war that does not contain obscene language. Kids are being exposed to too much garbage too soon....it's no wonder that teens are the way so many of them are. Bad enough that many hear it at home and on the street....but for a school to "assign" it is foolhardy. JMHO.
I am guessing it is not a church-sponsored private school.
As a parent, I might explain to my child that the language is there because the people are at war and under a lot of stress, and that is the way people sometimes deal with that kind of stress.
I once taught a Hemingway story to some young students--ninth or tenth graders. The story was "The Killers," and it was about killers. (As I recall, it was in their literature book.) Some of the students had not encountered profanity in literature before, and they asked me about it.
I told them that the story was realistic, that you would not have people like this saying "gosh darn" or something like that.
I was surprised when I heard a student earnestly explaining what I had said to another kid who must not have been in class when I gave my explanation. The students really took my explanation to heart--a refreshing idea.
You do not want to expose your child to material inappropriate for their age group, but being exposed to these things is a part of growing up. It does not mean that it is okay for a 14-year-old to be talking this way, though. I tell them that I expect school-appropriate language, and that they know what that means.
I have had parent object to a book when I know they had only read part of it. The parent might want to read the entire book, check some reviews, see if it has been used in schools before and how it has been used. In other words, approach it with an open mind. The book should have some qualities that make it worthwhile and can generate valuable opportunities for writing and discussion.
To STRONGHUNTER, Shiirley, for a career of dedication and service to the wellfare of her students...I raise my glass in gratitude, forever THE TEACHER.
A toast to all of you fine folks. You have kept me going these past two years and given me something to look forward in my years of retirement. You've truly shown me how to enter retirement.
WOW!!! Very close thunder just sounded here...If it does it agian I might have to get off the computer for a while...I hope you all continue to enjoy Shirley's Retirement party...I hope it does not repeat...
Okay, we are talking about two different night lights here. There is the night light on the nest and the night light that keeps from falling over things when we come into our big blogger house late at night.
Ok I guess that it for the evening gonna go sit in my rockin chair It was my Dads I brought it down after mom had passed away Dad about two before her My sisters insisted I take it to give to Angie to rock Jordyn who wasn't born yet so now I have it I love it I don't even sit on my couch or love seat anymore
Lots of really good insight into the situation regarding the book JudyE mentioned... has educated my viewpoint as well... wise counsel from many of you...
missed the Eagle action, probably just as well, I might have burnt the muffins :( making them from scratch.... Betty Crocker Cook Book
On the book: I have had to provide alternate books before. That is the way we handle the situation in the public schools I have been involved in. I even assigned an alternate book at the college level before. But when a student reads an alternate book, they usually do not get the depth of instruction that the others do.
I do not know what the guidelines are at the school you are talking about, Judy, but most teachers have to justify the books they select and need to demonstrate that it has educational value.
Manchester, Dr Baker's practice where I've been working is my HAPPY job Shirley....this newer part time job is not so happy. I'd rather be at Manchester full time, but hours not available at the moment. Hopefully by the end of the year....
the new part time job is at Randallstown Animal Hospital, just 2 miles from here. I worked there 12 years ago for the original, well loved owner and his wife, but he died suddenly of a heart attack. Back then, the place was busy, fun, organized....now, it's not. The vet is good, but there is now very little business. And they are doing things almost exactly like they used to, which was fine then, but outdated now. The place is run down, and things are done in such a disorganized manner that today, I just sat there trying not to cry in frustration.
Well okay, I was gardening by moonlight, so that reminded me it will soon be full- Weds, at 4:13 pm- the full strawberry moon, green corn moon, rose moon, moon when the berries are ripe... so many choices. Hope everyone is good, gonna eat dinner and then sleep. See you later gators :)
Hello Lynne! Sorry I posted my thoughts on the "sad job" incorrectly.... another time, when you are ready, we are here for you about it. GLAD the Manchester job is GOOD Love your two pigeons on your avatar...
Hoda: First time in many a long time, I was stood up! No ISS - had some cloud cover but it should have cleared part of that.... Saw some nice cloud formations well lit up by the nearly full Moon though... 4:30 am for another flyover, do NOT think I will be up for that one...
wonder if anyone else around here in the general area...was able to see it- (ISS) very unusual, the posted times are usually right on the money! Sigh... Been looking for an energy level all day and barely found it, had to pretend I had it...
So it is bedtime here NOW workday Tuesday....
It's been an enjoyable day on the blog, have learned lots of things, as usual...and always fun to do some One-Anothering on here...with each other Good Night, Precious Pals...I have you and your needs in my prayers God Bless This Nest, and God Bless Us, Every One xoxo ♥
Megan I somehow missed that you had posted, sorry!
I go for the Rose Moon, though all the names are fun. Thank You! You never let us down on the Full Moon Names... Maybe one should be named the florarlgirl Moon ! xoxo ☺ ( I planted my nicotiana today ☺ )
or spoons Lolly, I could eat Crab Dip like that! You have done a great job making all the arrangements.... and thanks to Shirley for being the occasion for it
Well, so party has broken up since the honoree called it a night....Lolly, what will you do with all the leftovers???!!!
Margy, my viewing is over----I can barely see the moon for the trees! I like ripe berry moon, too, Paula! Was looking at blueberry's today at the farm market....but remembered that I still have a lot in the freezer, so didn't buy more.
Kay sure is being kept occupied by Malcolm isn't she???!!! She'll never get caught up here!
Ceil and MM are ALMOST there!!
Lynne, maybe you can gently whip that bad office into shape...???? Sorry that it's not pleasant....we sure miss you. Cool about more bluebirds!
Goodnight to all turned in and those heading that way. I am going to read for a little while. Already took my bath, Liesl is asleep, and I don't think I'll be far behind her. Prayers and love for all.
I was late for the party as I was outside watering plants right after dinner. There was so much dry and needing water that it took a long while. It is so hot and windy that everything is drying up. On the news they were talking about the fire danger. Really scary. I have to let the front part of our lawn dry up and die. We can not keep pouring water on it. This is so frustrating to me. I do not even go way down to the front as I can not stand to look at it.
Well, now, I have a car load of Lobsters and the party has started without me! Save room in your tummies...I'm on my way!! Wouldn't it be grand if we really could have a party like that?
Again, I am too tired to type, so, I will climb into bed and say a prayer for each and every one of you. So glad to have you all as my friends.
I hear a clunking on nest Is it raining there?? still windy I wonder if it could be a branch hitting the cam??? I know you are at work and can't have the volume up!! Just speaking out loud
Darn't it I didn't bring my socks in here I have been getting dressed in front of the computer this was I won't miss them and I didn't bring in my socks Running to bed room don't you show up till I get back
BOTH STANDING IN THE MIDDLE AGAIN FOR THE PAST FEW MINUTES. FIRST LOOKING OUT THE BACK SIDE OF THE NEST WATCHING SOMETHING... THEN LOOKING OUT THE FRONT SIDE ... NOW THEY ARE FACE-TO-FACE AGAIN.

There must be some value in the book...tell her to overlook the cussing and look for the point of the book
And Curse words don't really demand an R rating anymore
I don't know Judy E about the private school and the summer reading list...from my experience there was always a reading list in Casady School in Oklahoma City Oklahoma...It is a College preparatory school. The list had several book, seven for example and we had to choose three out of the seven.
I will be checking in at commercials - Looks like I have quite a lot to read.....

Glad to hear news of Steve and that he is simply occupied with the fallen trees and it seems an electric outage...
To STRONGHUNTER, Shiirley, for a career of dedication and service to the wellfare of her students...I raise my glass in gratitude, forever THE TEACHER.

Temp is cooling down nicely tonight...another great night for sleep
Eagle on the far right Y branch
Just out of sight now.
Eagle flies towards the Y branch , lands and gets out of view.
Ah, I see the party has begun. I am puzzled, however, that our guest of honor is partying in her recliner. Shirley, get up girl and shake a leg.
Can't think what you saw today, Lynn. Some color mutation of a local species?
Paula, so wishing our tomatoes would hurry along. Love fresh from the garden tomatoes.
Wishing Ceil and MM a safe and relatively stress-free flight and a wonderful time at a beautiful wedding.
Going to put my feet up. Tired and have s mini headache tonight. Party on everyone in celebration of Shirley's freedom.
The night light is set for 11pm. Restful sleep for all.
Night light just came on.
A toast to all of you fine folks. You have kept me going these past two years and given me something to look forward in my years of retirement. You've truly shown me how to enter retirement.

FLEW AWAY
Toast to Shirley!
And to Deb.....just as I see that Ceil is over SD....ironic....
Eagle flies from Y branch area towards the leaf at the top of the screen
That was a white eagle tale, JudyE...far upper right of the cam.
Eagle flew off to the trees in the back
who ever it was flew straight out
Okay, we are talking about two different night lights here. There is the night light on the nest and the night light that keeps from falling over things when we come into our big blogger house late at night.
Ha Ha I get that now, Shirley.

Trying to shake a leg here, Judie, but the legs are mighty tired tonight. I have been hauling stuff around the building. Really got my exercise today.
I'm late for the PARTY!!! Here is some Chocolate Mousse...no calories of course!
My goodness, parties, head injuries, fallen trees, fevers, mutant creatures.....goodness, hard to keep up around here!
My "sad" job is the new one. I'll fill in the details another time.
I am confused, Lynne, but I know I have not read everything that has been posted.
I am going to have to depart this lovely party and go upstairs. I am one tired retiree, and need to retire for the night as well.
God bless and good night.
ISS time hereabouts 10:06

Goodnight and God Bless Sweet dreams to all who have already gone to bed. See you in the morning God Willing.
See you later gators :)
another pair of bluebirds have built a nest FINALLY in the back field house!
Margy do tell about what you saw with the ISS when you come back in from watching it. It is still daylight here and overcast to boot.
FYI...on the first page of my blog, on the right side, there is a link to ISS flyover site!
Hello Lynne!
Sorry I posted my thoughts on the "sad job" incorrectly....
another time, when you are ready, we are here for you about it.
GLAD the Manchester job is GOOD
Love your two pigeons on your avatar...
Hoda: First time in many a long time, I was stood up! No ISS - had some cloud cover but it should have cleared part of that....
Saw some nice cloud formations well lit up by the nearly full Moon though...
4:30 am for another flyover, do NOT think I will be up for that one...
OK party animals, I have to fold clothes, shower and go to bed, start work early in the AM.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for all!
Oh, No!!! I proposed the party and Shirley has already left!!!!

Sigh...
Been looking for an energy level all day and barely found it, had to pretend I had it...

The moonlight is finally shining on the nest.
Okay Lolly, I'll send the crackers and warm breads...

There are some pics on FB of the
large silver maple tree being cut
under Steve's page.
Good night and sweet eagle dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur. Love you all!!!!
Lynne, hope the job gets better....I agree with Lynn, whip that place into shape!
Gonna hit the hay
(((Hugs for all ♥)))
Lynne, hope that you will be able to improve that animal hosp but if you are not able to do anything just do your best and be grateful for a job.
Lynn, I like leftovers! I have covered all the food, put some into the refrig.....and we can party again tomorrow.
Good night one and all
Prayers for everyone's wants/needs
Prayers of thankfulness being offered
Hugs for all ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I was late for the party as I was outside watering plants right after dinner.
I think I am going to read for a while.
Night all! Sweet dreams!
An incredibly clear and bright night at the nest...Ripe Berry Moon indeed...
Happy Flag Day to you all and God Bless the United States of America and All those who live in it.
The Stars and Stripes Forever. Long May She Wave.
