Hi, Bluefiled girls! How are you both feeling (besides cold....brrr!)? 10° here, still very windy, but sun is shining. POor Ceil...certainly hope she is riding the rails again and not just sitting still in the Windy City!
Megan, you don't have market today, do you?? Paula, sorry to hear your mom is still so sick.....I know God has heard our prayers, so guess His plan isn't working as fast as we hoped.
Got to church last evening just as second half was starting...but guess I didn't miss much since the score ended up being the same at the end of the game!!! And thank goodness I missed the nail-biting ending...which turned out good for our Skins!!! Like I always say...a win is a win; nothing says it has to be pretty! Loretta, because that ref penalized Moss last week, I was wondering if snow angel would get one, too....thanks for letting me know!
I've already braved the cold/wind at the woodpile....guess now I better make the trek out the driveway and get the papers and put trash can away. Oh..good news...trashyt new neighbors FINALLY put their trash cans away last Mon., after 13 weeks!!!
Brrrr.....Sharon, I am so glad that you have quit smoking before your lungs got like mine! Walking even 300 yds. in this cold and wind has me gasping and coughing. Emphysema ain't no fun, girl!!
His name is Buddy and he is doing okay. All of his teeth are brown, don't know if it is plaque or from malnutrition. I am going to call the vet this morning to see when I can get him in. He chases the cat alot but other than that he is a really good little dog. One of the most pitiful I have ever seen.
Good morning everyone. Thought I better come out of the woodwork before Y'all started looking for me again. It cold this morning even in Alabama. 13° here at the moment. Yes Hedgie the nest is looking like a fort again.

Good morning, everyone. Sounds like the cold caught up with you, we are going for a small heat wave. It is supposed to get up to 10 today, -9 right now.
Deb, after listening to your temperatures for the last week, I'm sure glad I live in the south. It sure makes me remember the 11 years I lived in Canada.
Tom has the new little pitiful dog at the vet. Maybe they can tell us what to do to "beef" him up. Didn't show Luney till 10:35. They should keep the cam on him 35 minutes later. Of course, his mommy came and got him and now they are both out of camera range!! :(
SISSY---That makes me so MAD---I could bite nails too!!---Just wanted a peek at him!----Now we probably will get to watch him sleep!---ho!---Is he not the most HANDSOME "PANDA" ever!!!!!
We have 53° with light rain in So Cal this morning, and we will be rising to 60° with sometime showers in the P.M.
It sounds fairly mild, but somehow it is starting to feel like Christmas around here. I'll have to look to see if they've gotten snow in the local mountains...that sometimes makes a very fun trip.
I don't know if you noticed the Hummingbird nestcam. He has pictures of the two nests and camera angles drawn out with photos.
But if you look at the current picture, it appears the nest has lost its moorings in the rain. At the very least, it is no longer in a vertical position, and it might have fallen to the ground altogether.
Red, you have it as cold as we do here! Yuck!! That's not Southern Living!!! Oh, Sissy, I certainly hope Buddy doesn't lodse his teeth...but dentition is so influenced by diet...please let us know what you find out when Tom gets home. Maine is supposed to get a 24" blizzard! WInds still blowing here, but nowhere near as bad a b4!
HO, HO, HO, Everyone in Eagleland! Hope everyone is doing well. Read most blog, but didn't get to write til now.Have off work this week until Fri. Hope I can get everything done.Haven't put up tree---think kitties would do a number on it!Have Dr. appt in PM that is close to a Wallymart. Maybe they will have a tiny one.Or I might make another Feeiz Navidad palm tree like last year!! If not, it will be the ceramic lighted one this year. Paula, glad your sons got to see a winning Redskin game!! Time to do dishes & wrap a couple presents.....
Norma, since you have the fireplace, you really should have a supply of wood and kindling to use in emergencies! If the power goes off and you don't have heat, it could be so dangerous...the older we get, hypothermia because deadly! When are you traveling to Shepherdstown, and how long are you staying? You WILL be making nest visits, right???
Sp.---Feliz. It's about 24 here & windy, but sun is out. My folks and I spent one Xmas in Miami. Was strange to see all the palm trees w/lights, but you could go in the pool!COOL ☺ ☺ ☺
The vet said he thinks Buddy's teeth can be saved. Gonna clean them and neuter him at the same time after 1-2 weeks of antibiotics. He said he thought the hair loss was because of hormonal imbalance. I can't help but believe it is nutritional. Anyway, he got his shots and all that. So, we will see.
Hey everybody......!!!!!! Guess who is home!!! WOW! Did I ever have the most wonderful weekend. I was completely SPOILED! And, it snowed all day Friday...it was just beautiful, then it just got COLD and sloppy! LOL We stayed at Le Parker Meridian, oh la la, and upgraded to a suite each. ☺ Dined elegantly at Gramercy Tavern before going to Spamalot. It was fantastic. Saw the Christmas spectacular Saturday. Sat we had snow, sleet and rain. Yuk! But we ducked into places to have lattes and hot chocolate. Dined elegantly again Saturday night. Excellent bottles of wine each night. Shopped some, but mostly window shopped. Went to the Top of the Rock. Had coffee and scones in the Oak Room at the Grand Hotel, walked in a snow covered central park. And, then we came home...flight on time! ☺ Jack was there to greet me. It could not have been better. I am truly blessed with the greatest of sons. I held on to his arm tightly so as not to fall in ice and snow. He took wonderful care. We had fun!
Sissy, in case you missed my post late last week...I saw lil Luney up on all fours and took 3 steps before he belly-flopped! It was on that slick surface, too!
Welcome home, Lolly. So glad you had a great time in NYC. What is Top of the Rock??? Not familiar w/ it! Your son is a dear...what a wonderful present for his dear momma!!
Oh, Sissy, I just cry when I think about what your Buddy has been through. Speaking of which....what's Thelma--and her Buddy--up to? She hasn't been on lately!
LOLLY!---WOW!---Sounds as if you had a WONDERFUL--WONDERFUL time!!-- Does he ever take Mothers---- who do not have SONS to take them????---KIDDIN'----You certainly do have a COOL son!!---
Jim, much better rain than snow, huh?? Have you ever lived in a cold climate area? My friend in Highlands said earlier this week that the mountains were snow-covered.
just talked to Ceil, they just left Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, the next train stop is Fargo, ND, they are running about 8 hours behind, things are going well.
Update on the Puppies' Adventures yesterday: Hi all, so sorry we were unable to update yesterday about the reunion of the 6 pups. What with work, holiday shopping, wrapping gifts, playing with our adult Shibas and taking care of the pups we were pretty worn out. The reunion, in a word, would be "Excitement!". Each of the pups went crazy when their brothers and sisters showed up. Akoni and Ando tested who would be the bigger Alpha (boys will be boys!) and I think it was a tie. Autumn was just soo sweet and loving. Ayumi was making sure that everyone knew she was the princess. Aki romped around with the other puppy breeds and was taking to a large German shepherd pup. And Amaya loved to jump into everyone's lap, especially a small boy who sat down to play with them. At one point we had the "Shiba 500" going around the room as all the pups were chasing each other. What a sight!
Just finished cleaning out deep freeze...stupid thing to do on such a cold day, huh? Can't believe what you find in the bottom of a chest freezer....heaven only knows how old some of the stuff is...yuck! Dumped old bread products outside for the animals.....dog keeps going to the fence thinking she can reach it! LOL---faked her out!
Well, Hedgie, I was born in a cold climate...Minnesota...but we moved out here when I was just short of 4 years old. I still remember some of the snowsuit drills with all the layers and such, but I have anything but total recall of the time.
Since then we drove back to MN for a family wedding during a blizzard week, and I've made a bunch of trips to the snow in the local mountains here...
I would have to do some quick study programs to survive in the snow nowdays though.
Sorry about the deleted comments, but the software incited me to do something that resulted in repetitions of an earlier comment.
Going to wrap some now, and then run out to WalMart for a couple of last minute sale items...saw an ad for a purse-size digital picture keeper/displayer...think my youngest would like that!
Oh, it is so hard to get back to routine! I have cornbread in the oven, now to go prepare the cranberries. Michael gave me some presents to wrap and I need to prepare the bedrooms for company, well family anyway.
I want to visit all the cams, but do not have the time.
Oh, I needed all of you. As wonderful as Michael is, you should hear him rag on my eagles. He's an attorney, good at debate, and so sharp and quick at comebacks. I needed you to help me in the defense of eagle watching. LOL
Jim, Minnesota definitely qualifies as snow country!! You were lucky to grow up elsewhere!!! Are you a skiier in your mountains? My friend is...and now her son and grandchildren are living there so she's looking forward to teaching the grands to ski! BBL.
HUMMER UPDATE.......I've moved the camera to the new nest, although I'm sure she'll end up using her old nest. She's been working on this nest between clutches for the past year. ... December 22, 2008
Wow, what a lot of fun on here today! Oh Lolly! We are so excited for you and all the fun you had !!
There were some power outages overnight in our area, mostly Hedgesville town area, and out near the new Wal Mart ... Imagine those power company dealing with the repairs....hope they have heated gloves !
Norma: How long will you be in Shepherdstown! Had no idea your daughter lived there!
I see the "little broom" in BWE is a pine branch...
Take Care all, if I manage to get a few more cards in the mail today, they will get where they are going....late !
See the Eagle in Maine at the branch, checked the Moose in the snow, and saw Pelican Harbor Eagle before it bailed...
Did something funky somehow and had Maine Eagle super-imposed on the Pelican Harbor site ! West End looks gnarly, and I have yet to see anything at Seal Rocks.
Prayers for you and your Mother....continue daily
Well, I have to behave now after drinking in some of the Beauty out there.
Hedgie, I have a Banjo Christmas CD, think I will drop it into the player and think of you !
Thanks, Deb - gives me a chance to be with James when he sees what Santa has delivered! He's 9, so we can squeak in one more "Believing in Santa"Christmas, before someone spoils it for him..(I think he knows already but we are not acknowledging any of that ! ) ☺ ♥
grannyblt, wherever you are today: Thanks for the info about the problems with the envelopes....I have been taping down any loose ends! Got a card last year that was all ripped up, and it had a gift card in there, I was fortunate to get it! I would never call that important info Trivia...! ☺ xo ♥
Oh, managed to re-install Active X in time to see ONE Osprey at CC...still have to re-install some things after the big computer clean up two weeks ago...
Such a beautiful bird...and so nice to see them...
I have this crazy cassette, "Natural Christmas" - has Christmas songs with animal bird and nature sounds super-imposed onto it, have all kinds of birds and animal noises in my house right about now, loons, many other birds, geese, wolves, waterfall sounds, it's pretty amusing! ♪ ♫ ☺
Paula and Norma I watched the nature show last night also. It was beautiful country. Animals were awesome. I did think that guy was going to freeze to death though. Then when everyone was watching through their binoculars and they seen the eagle. That was awesome!!
Mits - want to get up at 6 in the morning? ISS moves through here around 6:04...will be -1.9 - not that terribly bright, but I will just be getting off work, so I will watch for it....
Might be a few stray Ursid meteors over night too..Brrrr don't think I will be able to see them.

Son is here & wrapping presents
Just finished cleaning out deep freeze...stupid thing to do on such a cold day, huh? Can't believe what you find in the bottom of a chest freezer....heaven only knows how old some of the stuff is...yuck! Dumped old bread products outside for the animals.....dog keeps going to the fence thinking she can reach it! LOL---faked her out!
Hope she doesn't choose now (age 9) to learn what doxies were bred for.....burrowing after badgers! So far she has never been a digger!

XL (Xi Lan) is trying to crawl using his back legs, resting, trying again, resting.....

LOL
They have a full house waiting to see Old Faithful erupt at snowy Yellowstone Park...maybe 10 minutes to wait now.

Jim, Minnesota definitely qualifies as snow country!! You were lucky to grow up elsewhere!!!
Are you a skiier in your mountains? My friend is...and now her son and grandchildren are living there so she's looking forward to teaching the grands to ski!

The PH nest is rocking in the wind.
Snowing at the Grand Canyon.
Cloudy at Teddy Roosevelt, I don't think Ceil will see this, I think she is further north on the train.

Thanks, Deb - gives me a chance to be with James when he sees what Santa has delivered! He's 9, so we can squeak in one more "Believing in Santa"Christmas, before someone spoils it for him..(I think he knows already but we are not acknowledging any of that ! ) ☺ ♥
You are probably right about him knowing, but it is good to get in one more Santa Christmas. Kids grow up too fast it seems.
Both osprey at CC.
grannyblt, wherever you are today:
Thanks for the info about the problems with the envelopes....I have been taping down any loose ends! Got a card last year that was all ripped up, and it had a gift card in there, I was fortunate to get it! I would never call that important info Trivia...! ☺ xo ♥
