Wednesday PM
Another rainy day here in WV. The female eagle took the brunt of the rain and tented for several hours. When finally relieved by the male, who also brought in a fresh fish from the river, she was completely soaked.
At the same time on the closed circuit feed, we noticed that there was a change in vocalizations from the eaglets, I would guess from the oldest one. It has gone to more of a whistle than a peep. The male now has umbrella duty as the day wraps up.
We are very hopeful thus far that all three young eaglets are doing well, but only time will tell, and some luck!

Well thanks Steve!! Keeping my fingers crossed..be careful though, the sound comments may send us running to NCTC yet.
I want to hear that whistle!!
Thanks Steve - have a good evening.
Hi Megan - Thanks for the heads up
Going to eat dinner & will BBL
Wow, my first post today and we have a new thread! Thank you Steven!
Hate to hear that more rain is on the way, but I keep reminding myself that these eagles know what they are doing! Please Lord look out for them!
Excuse my manners: Hello Everyone!! It is always good to be here and see you all!
Watching the feeding...
Come on Littlest One - Hold your own!
All 3 are getting pretty steady now.
He is trying so hard to have his turn.
Yippee! He got some & some more
Yep, looks like everyone is getting fed. My computer is gpoing completely haywire..BBL- if I don't throw it out the window.
WOW Fly Out
WOW Fly In
Couple seconds without Mom or Dad!
Maybe they will feed them some more.
Nope! Time for a nap!
Hi, everyone, I just got home to see live cam is up again. YEA! Is anyone watching NBG? I see they think an egg may have been laid this morning, just wondering what is happening there now.
Both eagles in LW. I think egg is being laid at NBG now. Going to check Maine forum.
Both eagles in Maine.
Yes Deb I am watching looks like egg laying posture for sure at Norfolk
That's what I thought. First time I have seen it in daylight and live cam.
Thanks Megan for telling us about the new thread.
Hi Megan, Iris, Jo, Glo Deb and eagle watchers.
Thank you Steven for the new thread..I'm not sure I'm going to thank you for the "SOUND of the chick from a peek to a whistle" Steven you know I'm just kidding with you LOVE THE LIVE FEED
We have these 3 chicks in prayer Steven plus fingers crossed ( :
Fly in one on chicks getting up. Think that was maybe Belle she just flew out. If that is Liberty he is going to feed the chicks.
Both our nest
In with Belle, out goes Lib
Feeding time...poor baby is so clumsy...well they all still are....baby falls over and other one falls on him!
Paula, I see the white spot on Belle's right wing you often speak about. They had just been fed at 6:00 and now at 7:00....Hourly feedings..
I see Spidey's web starting in the lower right corner........
Hurry Up Mom! We're all 3 waiting
Yucky Yucky
Eagle Food
Our 3 being very good eaters...no pecking tonight
Thy are being patient....Mom grabbing some bites too
Eagle still in position in VA
That is a different white spot...her and Lib both have then on their wing elbows
Ok so that is Belle wiggling down on chicks awww feeding....
Hi Paula ( :
Earlier I was watching a feeding and the little one fell over on it's side. All you could see was it's little leg moving, trying to roll over and get back up. Poor thing. But he got up and squished in between the others and got food.
How high up is the white spot on Belle that you notice..
Be still my heart. Hang on little one. Be strong. Oh, how I woul love to hear the whistle. Hi Megan, Jo, Glo, Paula, I saw him in there getting his bites. Hi Iris, Deb and Dana. If Imissed you, have a good evening, off to church. Will pray for our little fluffies. donna
Hi Jill, bye jill. donna
Bye Donna see you later.
Hello all! I am new to the cam and have only been watching a few weeks. I just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for posting your observances. The blog is the place I turn whenever I had a question regarding the nest happenings :)
Hello Jo, donna, Jill, Paula and Dana. Just sitting here waiting for Josh to arrive and thought I'd peek in and see if I could see the chicks. I guess I just missed it. At least it doesn't seem to be raining there now. I felt so sorry for the two parents having to tent in that rain. It looks pretty windy still there yet. We have had some strong winds today also.
They say it is 54° & dry in Norfolk.
I thought she maybe was venting over the egg.
Hi B8turewatcher. I hardly get on anymore as I am working. Welcome to the blog. The people on here are the nicest you could meet and will welcome you with open arms. I get to peek in from time to time and can't wait until I can retire next year to be able to watch full time.
Welcome n8turewacther. I wish we could see down into the nest, although right now all we would see is her back. She is moving, yeah! Egg roll??
I finallly got the blog to come up at school this morning and left it on all day. When I felf for home this afternoon, I left the computer on with the blog still up but shut the mmoniter off, so no one would know what I was doing. Hopefullly I'll go into school tomorrow and be able to say good morning to the PJ club again.
Did I read where NBG thinks they have two eggs now?
I guess I will check back later. I want to go watch out for Josh. Our nest seems to be calm now, except for spidys web.
Hello & Welcome n8turewatcher
There are about 3 bloggers on here that if you click on their name - go to the bottom of their profile - click on their blog.... you will be able to catch up with videos of the day.
Deb - has short ones
paula eagleholic has daily ones & also from other sites
glo has daily ones & also from other sites
beackspeak.com will link you to other sites but Paula & Glo also have links on their pages
Candy - do you have school all week?
So Josh is already on his way - ahead of all that traffic. Is Josh bringing company for Easter dinner? Other then the Easter Bunny that is.... lol
Too dark at NBG to see anymore...
Welcome N8turewather glad you decide to join in on the BLOG. We love watching this nest and bragging on this special eagle family. Glad you decided to be a part of the action. WE got three new little individuals in that nest as spirited as can be. SHould e an interesting season for sure.
Thanks for the welcomes and thank you mema jo for the info-I will check those out for sure! I still get confused sometimes when different cams come into play, but I am slowly catching on. I have just discovered the beakspeak and enjoy seeing the other cams as well.
I really love this nest and the 3 little ones are dear. I keep checking in to see how the tiny one is progressing.
eagle doing nestorations at LW, and blue heron was just up off its 4 eggs:)
Eagle at Kent 1.
I read where herons have between 3 and 6 eggs. That would be a lot of baby herons to feed!
UPDATE ON PANDAS, MEI XIANG AND TIAN TIAN
March 19: Mei Xiang Artificially Inseminated
The 2008 giant panda mating season began yesterday. Mei Xiang and Tian Tian attempted to mate throughout the day. Zoo staff carefully observed each mating and, because satisfactory mating did not occur, Zoo scientists and veterinarians performed a nonsurgical artificial insemination this morning. Both pandas were anesthetized, allowing Zoo scientists to collect sperm from Tian Tian and insert it directly into Mei Xiang’s uterus.
Mei and Tian will remain separated for the next few months, until Mei either delivers a cub, or until Zoo scientists determine that she is not pregnant. Keeping the pandas separated will reduce the risk of increased stress hormone levels in Mei, which could jeopardize ovulation, conception and implantation. Veterinarians will monitor her hormone levels and perform ultrasounds to determine whether or not she is pregnant. We will be sure to keep all of you up to date.
This year’s breeding is very similar to what took place in 2005, when scientists performed an artificial insemination after natural mating attempts between the two bears proved unsuccessful. That led to Tai Shan!
THAT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE, IF SHE LAYS ANYMORE EGGS, DEB
I look every time I bring up the nest to see if there is another one. I wish we could see into the other nest to see how many eggs they have.
Good evening all.
Welcome n8turewatcher, we are so glad you joined us. This is a phenomenal group of people that I have grown so close to!
Eagle still at Kent Washington nest
Light rain at Blackwater.......
It isn't raining here in the valley right now - It is 63° here and breezy. Hopefully moving the rain out ...
we do have fun, don't we....?:)
I am afraid Liberty may have taken out the Easter Bunny.
Oh we absolutely have fun!
We have had nice showers today, was surprised when I was out and about today to see so many things blooming, daffodils, forsythia, tulip magnolias, red-buds, Bradford pears are starting, and soon our beloved cherry blossoms:):) still 69° now
not quite as many carcasses:)
Hey Jo, I will be up in your home territory this Sunday, Braddock Heights

It will be interesting when you touch base with them as to their location....
Well I am having a 2:00 dinner and you certainly can come down - or come later for a slice of fresh coconut cake!
Welcome N8turewatcher so glad you decided to comment.
WELCOME N8TUREWATCHER....
OC Boardwalk is wet
The Khamasins are rolling through the Pyramids bringing dust and rain storms.
Peggy Cove's lighthouse beacon does not go on very often...
Oh Well! Getting too dark to cover much more.........
Okay I am waking up now. Kept wandering why you all were welcoming N8turewatcher when she has been here for weeks. Then I realizes it wasn't N8turewatcher but luver that has been here. Shew.
WELCOME N8turewatcher.
I can't tell...can anyone see an eagle in nest at NBG?
I had turned it off, when the female started to incubate the eggs. I wonder if her head is behind the branch, so we can't see the white.
Eagle has been in LW a long time tonight. She seems restless.
I see an eagle at NBG
Yes, eagle still at VA
Standing....looked like just did an egg roll
Welcome N8aturewatcher!
Glad to have you aboard! The more eyes (and hopefully ears soon, hint, hint Steve!), the better.
MIts - you have all that stuff blooming already? Nice!
Glad to hear Lib took that ol' rabbit out of the nest!
Gotta go work on taxes. yuk!
And No videos from me tonight...was pretty quiet today...and gotta get my taxes started!
Sharon - did you mean he took it out of the nest, or brought another one in?
I was in the District today too, Paula, even though we are only a little over an hour south of you, things start fast here.
Jo - If you watch my Eatin in the rain video, you will see the white patch on Lib's shoulder. Belle has one too, but sometimes it isn't as prominent
Nothing blooming here yet, but we can see the ground now! Even Monday's snow is almost gone.
Speaking of getting things ready to do taxes - That is where I am!
BBL
D-I-L just called needs a overnight baby sitter....they got tickets to the game on Friday....she is so excited, hope my sisters are free.
that's why I married an accountant, knew I would never be able to make sense of the whole tax thingy.
Thanks Mits and Paula I really couldn't tell for sure.
Are they going to NC Mits?
I have been in CA for 9 months, originally I am from Hagerstown, MD. I was sent a link by my family still in the area and began watching it that way. Of course I quickly became addicted. I enjoy reading your posts and finally got the nerve up to post myself. Everyone is very nice and very caring. I have learned so much about Eagles this way and it is priceless!
Welcome n8turewatcher:)hmmm... sounds like everyone is working on taxes, and the Easter bunny is MIA- I have daffodils blooming all over the yard now, and crocus, that's about all.
yes, Paula, they are leaving Friday a.m.
Hi n8turewatcher! I live in Hagerstown! Been here for 25 years now. Where are you in CA? We came out to visit relatives last Sept.
Hi Sunny! Pleasanton, CA in the San Francisco area. What area did you vistit?

Hey Jill ok its only open from i think 7pm til 3am making donuts and buying them.. Lines form out the door all the time to buy them fresh.. They also deliver them fresh to our Rocs stores here in town... Poor Belle looks soaked... Dishnet work is back on finally..
Jill I think our little "Imp" as Norma calls him wanted to play!
WOW Belle is tenting big time and waddling.. her wings spread out the whole wideth of nest...
yes, Jill I know, keeper was outside refreshing the bamboo, and somehow the gate was not latched properly, and he got out, the keeper is ok
WATCHING HER TENT LIKE SHE IS NOW MAKES YOU REALIZE HOW BIG THEY REALLY ARE! SO AMAZING!!
Eagle is still at Kent 1. Eagle at LW has been there all evening, I think there is an egg. Too bad the tree is in the way. Last year the eggs at Kent and Puget Sound were laid on March 21-26. It is almost to dark to see anymore.
Big tenting going on...just had a good downpour here....wind advisory for tonight...
mmmmm.....Krumpes!!! I don't live too far from there.
We had a terrible storm blow through here a little while ago. Awesome winds and rain. If Belle had the same storm, she got a good workout tonight!
Spring begins at 1:48am tomorrow morning!
YAY!
NILLA-I know, I remember stopping on the way back from soccer practice in Olney. But I haven't been in a while. I want mine hot out of the fryer. SOOOOOO Good. First time I went with some of the boys, I forgot to tell them what we were doing. They were asleep when I pulled into the alley. When they woke up and asked what was going I said "I need to buy some" I didnt finish the sentence because a kid on a bike flew out in front of me. One of the boys said "Buy what, drugs" Guess that is what most people buy in alleys. LOL
Rockin, I am from Martinsburg.
Had a bit of a breeze earlier but nothing bad. Can't tell if it is raining, if it is it isn't very hard.
JILL DO YOU STILL WORK WITH REBA?
Eagles head is up
HOPE YOU ALL DON'T GET THE RAIN WE HAD HERE TODAY---WAS HORRIBLE ABOUT 4 INCHES OF RAIN TODAY!!!!
HAHAHA true Jill they been making donuts in that alley for i think almost 60 if not more.. I use to stop at a lil store on my way to Winter Street Elementary School 1st thru 3rd grades and spent milk money to buy one for a nickle back in the 50's... I bet the boys tore them up fast too...

NILLA you have mail.
Wind is picking up here, windows are starting to rattle in this old house.
Good evening, everyone...
I noticed Belle got fairly wet this afternoon, but I didn't realize it was as bad as you all saw. Seems to be wet tonight too.
It seems that the female at NBG appeared to lay a second egg twice today, so nobody is sure she did now.
My "guess" is the first bout was a false alarm, and she did lay an egg the second time.
It looks like Pete's is back in action... Different stream that corresponds to real time.
I haven't looked yet, but there's probably a new Catalina Report to read.
Maybe some reading at ZZ's page too.
Have a happy....

Jim
Hey Jim. Wind is really howling here now. Haven't check for rain. Looked like a bad storm was heading for us from near where Norma lives, I think the edges of it have reached us.
Tai-young panda from NZ "attacked" a keeper today. Got out through an unlocked gate and scratched her while she was putting out fresh bamboo. Not much else going on.
Looks like it could be Liberty with the tent duty tonight. What do you think, Jill?
C(°?°)3
Jim
Could be Jim. Belle was there all day. And she had a rough day. Rained off and on all day. Just checked outside. Windy, not too cold, and not raining here at the moment. But at some point it rained hard enough to leave puddles on my porch.
Looks wet at the nest right now... he's tenting wide open and the wings are very wet looking.
C(°?°)3
Jim
I looked back through the blog, last parent change was Belle in and Lib out. Could be they missed a change but I doubt it.
Checked the weather, doesn't appear to be any showers in the area of the nest right now. Maybe coming off the tree.
She's tenting less now, but there are showers predicted all night...
Do you ever watch Pete's Pond?
They have new cameras today, and the detail and color are both better. You see a more natural spread of blues in the water for example.
There's a herd of Wildebeest there now, plus a family of wart hogs and a zillion Guinea Fowl.
C(°?°)3
Jim
Did you read the new weblog additions Lisa added today at BW?
C(°?°)3
Jim
Havent done much reading at all today.
I watched Pete's last year but lost it when my computer went down. Could you send me the link, I would appreciate it. (And my cousin needs another camera to watch LOL). Her husband gets annoyed at her watching them all the time. So she really really needs another HE HE.
I think we are getting ready for another storm or something. Dogs wn't lay down for anything.
YEP Weather says storm coming, near Norma's now, should be here in about 1 hour. YIPPEE>
hello jim, jill,
poor lib looks like he is soaked ,are the eaglets still doing ok in this rain?
Belle is wide awake and trying to keep warm and the feathers are flying on her.. She ws trying to get her head under her wing with wing up alittle but no success.. Ahhhh wind blowin hard here now... Belle has weathered alot worse than this as we all know her main concern is keeping the babies warm.. What a GREAT MOM!!!! HAHA let me hit the lottery and im gone like a striped A** Ape from my job..lol Just watched agood movie on encore channel.. Last i checked Jill Petes Pond was down and they were sending for new parts?? Yawnnnn going to take a nice bubble bath... Check back in later..
Jill here's the complete link to Pete's, but it doesn't look like it will fit the whole thing in the box, so I think I'll do the tinyurl version in the next post, just in case.
Jim

Up checking babies... Hi AJ.... moving wet fluff and trying to get settled.. Seems to be harder to get it right settling in with wet fluff... Waddle waddle... be back 1/2 hour or so AJ..
The blog did not "wrap" the url to the available area, so it shows incomplete. Here's the tinyurl version.

ok nilla hi and bye
Nilla, I think one cam was repaired and one was totally replaced. They've been working to get them going since last weekend, and they appear to be working now.
Jim
Hi, AJ, haven't seen you on late for a couple of nights.
How are you doing?
Looks like Jill and maybe Nilla have departed the blog.
[:~)]
Jim
hi Jim i havent been on the blog , but have been watching the eaglets getting fed and duking it out,
lib had been getting rained on big time tonight,
I am here still Jim just went and took a bath... So far seems winds died down alittle here but still going strong at nest.. Atleast feathers are not flying up like awhile ago... Still awake though... Jill may have went off and i am heading that way also... Its after 3am ...Tenting again and waddle..
the little baby is growing now
Hahaha.. I watched a video today from Paula, I think, where you could see a couple of the older ones trying to peck each other ... even though there was plenty of food for all three of them.
[:~)]
Jim
Hi again, Nilla, well the cams at Pete's seem to be operational again, so you can have a look for Fatty the Croc again.
Haven't seen him yet today, but the cams look better image wise. Take a look when you get time.
[:~)]
Jim
Looks like babies are hungry.. Oh trying to stick head out from under too.. I dont think Lib is good at this as Belle (if you think its Lib on the babies)That Fiesty & Scrapy sure are a hoot to watch and poor Irish aka Shamrock aka Rocky takes the brunt of their abuse (Thats what i call them)
these are starting young, the baby is getting fiesty now
Ok guys you hold down the fort ok.. i am watching Robin Williams movie "Patch Adams" Niters
the names fit good
goodnight nilla i am going to watch dallas at 4 am
goodnight jim , if you are still here
Night, Jill, Nilla, AJ...

Jim
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY/GOOD MORNING, EARLY BIRDERS AND SUZANNE...
Check the reading material at BW and the two reports at the Channel Islands.
Happy Thursday...
[:~)]
Jim
Morning, world. Morning, Jim. I will do as you say, check out the reading material. BW is always interesting, as is IWS.
Rainy and extremely windy out this morning, but not too cold. 47° in PA, 48° here in VA.
Our eagle was just up checking on the chicks. May be tenting a little, hard to tell with the shadows.
Lord BW is on the babies there, and he's not tenting, so guess their rain is finished for now.
Saw Steve's update, good info that the chicks are sounding different. Hopefully growing up and gonna be big magnificent eagles!
All have a great eagle/panda day.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Oh, HAPPY SPRING!!!! Our Spring Equinox was at 0148 this morning, so spring has finally arrived.
Our eagle up again, changing positions. Kids must be restless.
Eagle on branch in NBG. Cannot see if one is in the nest.
Morning Suz just got up to check the nest since we had such rain and i see still wind all night.. Heads tucked back trying to sleep now.. Was a terrible night for those babies... I know they must be hungry but with morning light will be fed a meal... Going back to bed.. BBL
Morning, Nilla. Sorry to hear they had such a bad night, but the wind and rain were terrible at my house! I'm sure they were getting the same thing. Hardly any rain this morning, but heavy winds earlier. Parent was up and down for a while, but seems to be settled down now, and has been, so that's a good thing!
Hope you can get some sleep.
Big ol' fat racoon on PA cam.
Both Lord and Lady BW in nest with kids. Both are feeding the babies.
Mei was on both cams this morning, but now only on cam 1. She wants her treats, doing the Ray Charles dance. Whichever panda is on cam 2 was sleeping on a table, turned over and fell off. That's a rude way to wake up. Strolled around for a few minutes, now just sitting down. Maybe it's Tian, and he's still tired from the other day. Oh, too funny, Mei looks under the door to see what she can see. That's a hoot!
BW chicks getting fed again, and our eagle is still sitting on the chicks, but awake. Course there could have been several switches and I wouldn't know it!
Liked your comment yesterday Sharon about this cam reminding you of watching paint dry. Or Mits said watching grass grow. You both hit the nail on the head. Less than exciting when pic only updates every 3+ minutes!!!
Maine has raindrops on the cam, makes for a very fuzzy picture!
HEY!---EAGLE BUDDIES----NEW THREAD---COME ON OVER!!!!
NBG, one eagle on branch, one sitting in nest. They have been listening, and I was watching and saw the squirrel underneith running around. How cool was that. There he want again, eagle was watching. Now the one in the nest is looking down and there he goes. He got out from the nest, and I guess going down the trunk of the tree. They're both still watching, oh, no, he's still in the nest.
OMG, there are 2 squirrels! One was in the nest and the other one came back UP the trunk and back into the nest. Now both eagles are looking at the other side. They can hear the noise, but don't think they can see them, they're too high. But those squirrels are very active today, giving the eagles fits!
Our eagle may be talking to the babies, and now looking around. I haven't seen a switch this morning, but there may have been.
