Ok Well so I am looking for a hanging planter that hummingbirds really like. Does anyone know of one ...LOL.

I too want such a plant Glo. I don't want to put the hummingbird feeder out. Plus I want a hanging plant or one that goes in a flower box (off the porch railing).

Yep The garden is getting a little lower to care for these days. Well its the getting back up that is the main problem. Or if its a perennial, then they are kind of a little more worth the work, if you mulch good, etc. I too want to hang it out there and enjoy it. I have always tried something red and occasionally i have had a couple of hummers, but I want more and on a regular basis.
Do a "google" for plants that hummingbirds like!

Glo I'm not old but I want the hanging basket or window boxes to hang off the porch railing. So it will be easier for me to take care of. Mostly with the flower I want lots of hummers.

Although I di dhave a hwipper snapper tell me a year or so ago that she had referred someone my age at an agency we were both doing some work with at the time, to "elderly housing". She hasn't leved that one down yet. She isn't going too either LOL.
OK- daughter is 12, not her fault we all want to be on computer at same time. Hummingbirds love any plant with blooms they can put their little bill in for nectar. They love red flowers, but go crazy also for my blue salvias(indigo Spires)also. There are many different varieties of salvias, annuals and perennials. I wouldn't think of not having them in my garden, one of my favorite plants.

No, my plant is not hanging - it is setting on the side of my grill only because that is what is outside my kitchen window & I can see it all the time. Also, no my plant is not hanging - because I couldn't find any of the 3 wire hangers down in my basement that you need to put on the pot to hang it with.
But get this If you had the hangers for the pot YES it would be a hanging planter.....
I love you gals! I am saying all this with a giggle in my speech!
It was purchased at the garden shop
of LOWE's. Not sure if you have them in IL or not, Glo.
Incidentally, the unbloomed pots of mums are now being sold for fall planting.
.Floral girl So can you usually like find them in a planter in the spring. Do you think they would sell them in my part of the ocuntry too. Or maybe when I come in the spring I can buy some from you and bring them back with me if they would live here. Vicky and I will have extra room after dropping off all that wax for Sharon LOL.

OH hey I just discovered that if you get wax on the 50 you only get a half can...I pay such close attention too not sure why I didn;t realize that before DUH...well anyway VickyThat means I only have a can and a half. Pleanty of room for a plant ahnger for Mema Jo LOL
Yes, there are many salvias that are pretty common and easy to find. I sell them in the Spring as do many garden centers. The red one in my garden is salvia coccinea, an annual.Would grow in planter or in the ground. The blue one in my garden is Indigo Spires, an annual best planted in the ground because it grows 3-4 ft. tall. Then I have assorted others which are not as common in my garden. I know lowe's has sold one called black and blue, not sure of the real name of this one.

The new game on yahoo I have discovered and played some this week is called JT's Blocks. Kinda fun, and you can come and go, no time factor, and yep you get to play it by yourself, but you do see others high scores for day and month etc. Just FYI in case you like to try new games etc.

OK Floral girl I'll check Lowes in the spring if I can remember, if not I'll bring money along for a plant or maybe both, will have to see what spring brings, but a planter from there while I meet my online Blogger friends would kindof be fun to bring back with me. Someone help me to remember int he spring what this conversation was about...I would really love one of those in a planter that would attract hummers. Blue sounds like a nice change of color as I have had red there for each year now and not really with much luck.

Many ornamental salvias will winter over in a sunroom or greenhouse cause they are actually tender perennials not annuals. It really depends on the variety.

Look, most salvias are upright plants and are good in the ground or pots, but don't hang down like you might want a hanging basket plant to do. Good hanging plants for hummers are verbenas, fuschias, impatiens,and many more. Crock pots must be level, do not make good planters and can be used for heating wax.

Vicky Sometimes it is a blessing to have A.D.D. You can forget what you don't want to remember. It's the CRS syndrome you have to worry about - because usually when you want to remember something important, it just escapes you for the momment. Like why the heck did I just walk into my bedroom...?? So you go back to the computer where you were when you decided to walk to your bedroom & you hope & pray the thought will return. Oh, yeah! PAULA I have 3 Rivals and I love them, cooked a rump roast in one the other day for my son and his wife, turned out good. I like my big 6qt, have it at the beach and make things in it when I have a crowd.
