We recently held a meeting here at NCTC to discuss new plans for this year's eagle cam. We are fortunate to have a new staff member on board who previously worked for a company that sells webcams for use with wildlife, so our expertise in this area just took a huge step forward.
We should have a game plan for what we plan to do this winter, and when we have some decisions , I'll post them here. Some ideas includ: multiple cams, robotic cam that can be controlled remotely (moved), and audio so we can hear what's going on.
Can't say how this will settle out just yet, but we are excited for a new nesting season, assuming our pair comes back, which we ceretainly anticipate.

CONCLUSIONS DRAWN
Pandas in the wild do sleep in the trees. So we now know we have a WILD ONE doing what comes naturally. Bless his heart - he has a mind of his own - that is good! If Momma Mei wasn't going to sit around & worry about his coming down, then neither will I. He must feel sooooo free & full of life. The lights are on and he can scent his way home. I doubt if they will lock the door on him. See ya in the morning Tai !!

JMHO! But I'm not to sure about the robotic arm, that , you can move remotely. The experience I have had with them, is that, they only service one viewer at a time, and not sure how that would work with everyone trying to watch.
Just shut Lun Lun down too. I am sure she will stay right there all night just like tai LOL
I sure wish they would reach (quietly) through the bars and spray or power something down there for Lun Lun so she stops that scratching. Then she won't be shaking that baby so much.

I was thinking I want a "dependable cam" to for sure. Unless this new person's job would be to drive the cam etc. and we would kind of have up front eagle eye view of the whole thing I surely don't know.

12:46 AM eagle time. LunLun standing on head. Fuzz balls barely visible. Both cameras in DC inside, so the brat must have come in. Both cams show bamboo eating, but I can't tell them apart any more unless they're together. But I think all is well. Good night to all.

7:20 am EST Either Tai or Mei is laying on the rocks inside. I did hear a bark and it wasn't the one asleep on the rocks.
Ok that was Mei laying there asleep. Somewhere is Tai barking and barking. Mei woke up and is pacing back and forth. Must not be able to get to Tai.
7:38am Don't know what they did to stop Tai from barking. He has so Mei finally layed back down to sleep. Wherever he was she couldn't get to him.

NormaByrd Go to the Brisbane site and under the main cam pic, click on Videos. Then you'll get a list of them to play. Give very good view of long ledge. The camera is not positioned very well right now for good coverage. The chick seem to hug the side of the building - probably for Shade.
