Home from Charlestown and Lynn's Memorial Service. Christie and Carolyn and family paid a fitting tribute to Lynn, full of tears and laughter. And yes, Carolyn did it ♥

magpie said...

Wowser, Thank You Steve, and to Paula and Wanda for the call over...I was finishing up comments on the old thread about the services, there are half a dozen or so "magpie said" posts, but I won't try to bring them all over here

xoxox

Lolly said...

I posted and then saw the new thread alert. Thanks for the call over.

Margy, thanks for sharing all the details of today.

CarolAnne, the book is totally awesome! What a beautiful tribute to Lynn. Her girls will treasure it forever. Bless you!!!

Our plans for tomorrow have changed. Michael and Ashley will be coming here afterall. Laurel and family will be here for church and then after church all except Zach will be here for dinner at noon.
Jack is preparing steaks, he has gone to the store to get them.

paula eagleholic said...

Margy, you have done a wonderful job relaying Lynn's service to everyone, I hope you will copy and paste it over on this thread as well.

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, glad you are staying put for Mother's Day.

CarolAnne, the books are a labor of love ♥ Thank you ♥

I guess I might the first one back...
so I shall give a report

The services, were lovely, beautifully performed
Carolyn read her tribute, like a champ! And Shannon read what Lynn's sister Gail and her mother had sent to be read.
Also Frank, of Frank and Irene,
read his tribute. Irene stayed at Lynn's Lair to pay her tribute privately and spiritually that way

In front of the church, was the basket, with Lynn' ashes, beautifully graced with the picture of Lynn from the funeral website, the two beautiful cut- flower arrangements crafted by Megan and requested by Hoda and Jo...
and there was also two vases, one with white roses, one with red, from the daughters...stunning, all.

Pastor John Bethard led the services, with compassion, joy, and encouragement

Readings were from Psalm 23, Ecclesiastes 3:1-14, and
Romans 8:31-39 and he also quoted references from John Chapter 3, then also spoke of these verses in language that applied to Lynn and this time of loss in our lives, and the profound influence Lynn has had on our lives, now, and to continue

Hymns were Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound;
All Things Bright and Beautiful; and Great is Thy Faithfulness

It was a blessing to meet Jerry WV, he is so gracious, and was welcomed by those of us there, he met the daughters, and it was just simply joyful to have him with us today
Thank You Jerry, for being with us !

Costume Lady said...

I can't tell you anything more than what MARGY has told you (good job girl), you covered it all:) It was a lovely service that didn't drag on and on...just the right amout of tributes, prayers and songs~

The meal prepared by the ladies of the church was so varied and tasted wonderful. Carolyn and Christie were very gracious to the guests...there was so much love going around that you could FEEL it. Lynn would have been so pleased with the service AND her daughters sweetness and dignity...love those girls.

Capt. Gene just brought in the card from the camera...photos will be on here shortly~

magpie said...

Presentations were given by:
Frank, dressed in a perfect Redskins shirt! He had wonderful things to say about our pal...

Carolyn, who read what she wrote, and it was simply beautiful....straight from that Very Big Heart that she has...

Shannon, Christie's husband, who delivered the thoughts from Lynn's sister Gail and her Mom,

and Wanda...who read the most touching and appropriate poem, that in essence, says it all about our Lynn

Gene took some pictures, and I am sure he and Wanda will post them later; a friend of Carolyn's - took four pictures of the Momstsers and Dadsters...and I think they turned out pretty good also

How could they Not! We are Momsters and Dadsters, Strong and Loving and there for our Lynn and her daughters, and for each other...forever....

magpie said...

The luncheon afterwards, prepared by the Presbyterian Church Men and Women, left nothing to be desired, such variety and all good !

There were quite a lot of friends of both daughters and some friends of Lynn...and of course Charlie and the girls...

I am trying to give you the best report I can...knowing how you were actually THERE in spirit, but this might fill in some of the gaps.

I will make copies of the program for the services and get them mailed out, one by one, might take me a week or two to get it all together....

magpie said...

Carolyn and Christie had also prepared a Memorial book for their Mother, two copies in the church vestibule, which we signed as the
"Guest Book."
I signed
With Love from all the Momsters, Dadsters, Kidsters and Petsters...

magpie said...

Robyn and Tori were absolutely glowing, it was so special that they could attend, and I know how that makes Lynn feel... ♥♥☺☺
don't you? She was such a champion for Tori's illness and wellness...as she has been for all of us in our times of trouble

Tori was wearing a necklace with a Hedgehog on it, talk about neat !

magpie said...

I do believe the others will chime in as the day goes on..

Paula's grandson's ball game was cancelled, tough for little Cohen perhaps...BUT, she could stay for the reception afterwards....so it was meant to be....as she said.

Let me tell you more about Frank:
He spoke of Lynn's passion about things: her family, her Eagle Group, her love for animals, NASCAR, the Redskins, the ocean, and so many other things. He said she is the most intelligent person he has ever met, and he "set him straight" on many things.
He ended with this: When we get to Heaven, we are asked two questions:
1) Did you have Joy in your life?
2) Did you give Joy to others?

He said, without doubt, Lynn's answers to these questions, would be YES

It was so very special to meet him and to hear his words

magpie said...

I meant to type : " she set him straight on many things."

Hoping that this finds you all in the comfort and joy of your love and thoughts for Lynn and her family, your own families, friends, pets, and the things YOU are passionate about...

and that healing prevails where it so very much needed

God Bless Us, Every One

xoxo ♥

FROM THE OLD THREAD (In case you don't read back):
The book Carolyn & Christie are receiving/looking at in Wanda's pics contain our thoughts, prayers, and memories that were expressed when Lynn's passing was made known.
Some of the content was taken directly from the blog, a few from the tribute page, and others from emails. There are also pictures of Lynn and things important to her.
Here's MemaJo's comments after reviewing the book:

They will cry like I did even when I just flipped through it.
I am so elated about this book - Everything is in it!

There is no more that I can add to comments posted earlier regarding the celebration of Lynn's life and her influence on so many. Carolyn and Christy were more than gracious. Christy made a lovely tribute to Lynn's many roles in life. A special thank you to the Presbyterian Men and Women who prepared a varied and delicious luncheon. A special word of appreciation to Wanda who read her poem to Lynn with strength and love.

I have been home but I admit my feet went up for a few -- just enough time to let Margy tell you all about our day.

Geesh, the power was out here all afternoon. No idea why.

Margy, thank you for the great recap of the service. Certainly sounds beautiful. Between your words and WANDA's pictures and the video on FB, it was almost like being there with you all. Carolyn did an outstanding job! As did Shannon, and Wanda's poem is beautiful. Sorry Paula's plans got changed....but it surely was meant to be, and glad she was able to stay longer with you all. It was very sweet of Jerry to attend, and although under these circumstances, I'm glad he and you had the opportunity to meet!

My Bad, for not mentioning WV Jerry. I was so very moved that someone who had NEVER met our LYNN, felt the need to join us at the Memorial. He is a nice guy and I hope he stays with us as one of our DADSTERS!

I am trying to get the video of Shannon, Carolyn, and myself making tributes to LYNN. It seems the process has changed AGAIN. I will keep working for those of you who are not on facebook~

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,

Getting here rather late today.

Margy, thank you SO much for the description of ♥Lynn's Memorial Service! Wanda, thank you for the beautiful pictures! CA, thank you for putting together such a beautiful book remembering our ♥Lynn! I've ordered mine, and can't wait to receive it.

Have been thinking of ♥Lynn♥ all day, and praying nearly nonstop for Carolyn, Christie, the rest of Lynn's family, all the Momsters and Dadsters, and the Petsters, too. I certainly was there in spirit at Lynn's memorial. Margy's description and Wanda's pictures make me feel like I was there in person.

Lolly, I'm so sorry to hear of your accident yesterday! Can't tell you how grateful I am that you were not hurt any worse than you were! Your guardian angel was working overtime! Prayers that you will recover quickly and have no complications. Sorry to hear that your vehicle was totalled, but mighty grateful that you WEREN'T!!! (((HUGS)))

I didn't make it back here last night--fell asleep soon after dinner, and woke up really late. Just dragged myself off to bed.
I was slam wore out! Have spent a lot of time today getting our shredder working again (it was badly jammed!), and shredding tons of stuff that needed to be done. I probably should take it all to a professional document shredding service, but suspect that's NOT inexpensive. Have about 10 banker boxes of paperwork left from my Dad's various businesses, etc., that can be shredded now. It's taking up valuable space in my office, and has to go. When I'm upset, I tend to get very industrious, so guess I'm working out the loss of my BFF this way. Knowing what a "neatnik" Lynn was, maybe she was the one who lit a fire under me! In any case, the room already looks much better. I've overheated the shredder a couple of times, and had to turn it off so it could cool down, but much progress is being made. ♥Lynn would appreciate the improvement. I do too!

Well, need to head for the kitchen and figure out what to have for dinner. Will check back in later, hopefully--if I don't fall asleep in front of the TV first! Will be thinking of all of you, and of our ♥Lynn♥. Forgot to mention that it occurred to me that Lynn and Deb may have run into each other by now in Heaven! That's a comforting thought. Well, have a good evening, and I hope to be back later tonight.

CarolAnne said...

That is a comforting thought - Lynn & Deb !!

CarolAnne said...

Prayers that Lolly has no lasting aches & pains. Anything odd, go to Dr. so it can be documented and attributed to the accident.

All others, take a moment to hug those near & dear.

CarolAnne The book is indeed wonderful. Thank you so very much for making that for all of us. Beautiufl tribute to our Lynn. Thanks Magpie for sharing so well the service info as you experienced it. I think Lynn looked down with love peace and pride. I am off to find wandas photos and video now. God Bless you all.

Lolly I have prayed for you today and hope you are doing ok. I am thankful that you are here to blog with us. Nuff said :-).

Hi all!! Checking in from Mom's computer. I have read back thru last night's and this morning and early afternoon posts, but have not read any of the new thread. Just too exhausted. I can't recall the last time I felt this physically tired! Trying to pack up 17 years worth of stuff in one weekend! We made a dent but there's still a lot to do!

At 6AM, I was eating my Cheerios in Mom's kitchen and kept hearing this scratching sound. Went outside and discovered that the microwave vent that vents to the outside was full of nesting material from something - bird? squirrel? The kitchen cabinet above the microwave has rectangualr metal ductwork inside it. Finally convinced Denny to cut through the duct work with some kind of tool he had with him that made an awful racket!! Peeled back the metal ductwork and there was a baby starling that had gotten himself stuck. He flew right into the kitchen and perched on the chandelier. Eventually I was able to catch him and let him loose outside!

Lolly, I am SO sorry to hear about your very scary accident. haven't read how you're feeling today but it sounds like you are lucky to be alive!

Will have to catch up the rest of the way tomorrow and read all about the memorial service (thanks Margy, for the posts you made on the old thread). Right now, there is a bathtub calling my name and I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight!

Take care my eagle friends - I have really missed chatting with you all today, but am so happy to be here to help my mom like this.

Lolly, when I had a head-on collision, they did an x-ray at the hospital and told me at first that I had no broken ribs, then called the next day to tell me that I had three broken ribs.

Later on, I had pain at my sternum and found out that it had been broken and healed. That was probably a year later. All of those injuries were caused by the seat belt.

So, be sure that you check out anything and everything. Make good use of your lawyer son. I kept a notebook with all of the info and gave it to my lawyer.

In Virginia, you can collect from your own health insurance and from the other person's car insurance.

What a day! Good Early morning!!! AS usual, I am up late... Actually just got home.
The morning started out with tears, tears of sadness and I believe the day ended at the church with tears of relief, happiness and followed with Joy. Joy that I know without a doubt, that we shared with everyone today just how much Mom meant to all of us. I know that with everything that rtook place today, made Mom proud and she smiled down on us.
I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart, just how much it meant to me and my family, that you all were there for us, whether in person or spirit. Because what Margy ( MommaII) has said and what Wanda (MommaIV) had Gene post, the rest of you were with us. I was scared when I got up to read my saying for Mom, and at times, my voice qquivered and I thought I was going to lose it. I was waiting for MommaII to come to my side, but Guess what? Mom was right there and I felt a calm come over me and I was able to proceed and finish. I was told by many that I had everyone in tears... and the laughter about mom locking herself out of the house, that was pretty priceless. Now that I am home after letting my hair down at my co-workers cookput/ bonfire, I now have time to read everything here, look at my books and my cards that were given to me today. I behaved tonight. I was feeling good, did not get drunk, but the lil gummy bears I ate, LOL they were drunk!!! Haha but oohhhh soooo good they were!!
Again thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! I love each and everyone of you for everything....the book that you made CarolAnne,. I bet it will have me in tears before I even get thru the first pages!! Thank you very much C/A!!!!!

Yet as I watched WANDA'S and CAPTAIN GENE'S video I saw that you have done YOUR MOTHER PROUD. You had me in tears here too and I also laughed out loud at your story of LYNN locking herself out...

Hoda said...

Praying that JUDIE made it home safe and sound and that the sandman caught up to her before she managed to come to the blog.

It is still early and I am trusting that ANDY will check in and turn on the night light and the security systems. If not I will do so now.

Good morning!

Happy Birthday to sUSsan and Happy Anniversary to DanaMo and Monte. Wishing you all a very special day.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms. Wishing you each a very special day, also.

Hoda, thank you for thinking I might still be driving around the mountains of WV singing Country Roads Take Me Home. It was nice to be missed but made me wonder if I had become invisible?

Speaking of moms, Margy is correct. Mema Jo's son Michael is a very gracious gentleman. Can you imagine? He actually holds doors open for the ladies! Jo done good!

It was also very nice to meet WV Jerry. So nice of him to take the time to join us in remembering Lynn.

Wanda, thank you and the Capt. for the video.

I'll be back later. Need a cup of coffee and need to make a final review of grades before submitting final grades to the Registrar.

Enjoy the morning!

I got home pretty late last night. I've just been catching up some on the blog. It was nice to meet everyone...even under the circumstances. I think from what I've read...there is nothing for me to add. Thanks for all the kind words and for making feel welcome at the Memorial. A special thanks to Magpie for helping me along. Once again I am so sorry for the loss of your dear Friend Lynn...wished I could have met her. I think Jewels and her sister were so nice to meet and I was pleased to meet them both. Take care all.

Good morning to my friends!HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DANAMO AND MONTE!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN! And joyous thougts to any whom I may have missed....

Happy Mothers Day of course to all of you....

Been a busy weekend. My classes were small but good yesterday. I have my level 3 class today from 10 to 2. It too is small, but always rewarding.

I had one student drive 3 hours from Seviervelle EARLY just to sit and chat with me before class. What an honor!!!!!! I am always amazed at how peopel percieve me. I am just another person. The only thing is I teach Reiki to others and its funny the perceptions they get. They always honor me with their gestures and words. It is amazing.

But I assure them I am a normal human with my faults and misgivings....

Anyway, so it is raining. That is good because we so need the rain. The grass was getting crunchy already. That doesn't ususally happen for another month or so.

My oldest and her family have a cook out planned for today for me. Acutally her husband Chris is going to cook for us: typical fare, burgers, brats adn dogs. He does't want Chelsea or me to cook anything. :) Normally I jus tthrow a brisket in the oven. I don't like to eat out on mother's day weekend .... EVERYONE is out there!

So anyway, maybe the rains will lighten up. Our grill in on the deck and covered, so all will be well, but certainly, more pleasant with less rain.

Sending light and smiles to all. Have a fabulous day! :)

Good morning! I have scanned the blog really quickly. Probably missed some stuff.

Happy Mother's Day!

I think I am feeling better today and not so emotional. Last night my neck was really bothering me and the drugs had me knocked out. Slept good and only woke two times with a start!

Today is my Daddy's 101 birthday. He died unexpectedly at the age of 58. Miss him still! He will forever be 58.☺

Thinking of Carolyn and Christie today and sending them loads of love and (((hugs))).

Expecting Laurel and family in an hour to go to church. Expecting Michael and Ashley to be here when we get home from church. They are not in Dallas but west of us for a wedding last night and will be stopping here (without Zacharooski! sob!) Oh well, we will just have to get to Dallas soon. Need that Zacharooski hug!

I will see you all later this evening. My arm is not hurting today. My neck is just a little sore, bruises keep popping up, BUT I AM OKAY!!!!! Praise the Lord!☺

Love you all bunches!!!!!

Good Mother's day morning - it looks like a sunny day and I hope it finds all of you well and ready to tackle the day.
I have received many cards and phone calls from children and grandchildren.
It seems that my life has always been filled with mothering.

Last evening on the deck was a very small bunny - so adorable. Of course Marvin had brought him up to show us. Marvin didn't hurt the little fellow who finally went off the deck to find his momma.

There are all types of Mothering - so to each and everyone of you Happy Mothers' Day.

Mother's Day In Heaven
(Dedicated to my Mom -
I miss you, and look forward to seeing you again!)

It’s your first Mother’s Day in Heaven –
I'm so thankful that you're not alone;
As you behold the face of our Saviour,
And are blessed to worship at His throne.

Mom, I would love to send you flowers,
Though their fading glory could not compare
To the beautiful sights and sounds of Heaven,
And your very own mansion over there.

I never thought so much about Heaven,
As I have since you’ve gone home to that place –
Oh Mom, I miss you so very much,
And I long to see your precious face.

You see, this earthly home now seems more empty –
Its glitter and glamour can no more impress;
For Heaven is the place of God’s truest riches –
Where our Father only keeps the best!

Since you turned and trusted in the Saviour,
An amazing change has taken place;
Dwelling in the presence of Jesus now,
In Heaven - only because of His grace.

It’s your first Mother’s Day in Heaven –
With everlasting joy and peace up there.
Oh Mom, I miss you so much now,
But I know our reunion will be beyond compare.

magpie said...

It's beautiful, Jewels....as you are, thanks for this, and glad you enjoyed your evening with your pals and the gummi bears
